Nori Itugaki
Yoshiya Kiryu, The World Ends With You
Name: Nori ItugakiYoshiya Kiryu, The World Ends With You
Age: 19
Race: Android
Gender: Male
Universe: 6
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 300 - Being a mechanical Android will do that.
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Gray
Identifying Markers: Besides wearing casual clothing as a combatant, Nori has no 'identifying markers,' designed to be as close to the average person as possible.
Personality: Nori is a very passive person, when it comes to major events. Instead of butting in and attempting to make a difference, he's a lot more like to sit around and wait for someone else to give situations a resolution. He's very much introverted and tends not to confront people more than necessary. He has no qualms with fighting himself, he just prefers to be challenged first. Once spoken to, he tends to be pretty talkative and tends to ramble on a bit to the point of being an annoyance. As an Android, it is hard-coded into him to pursue gaining power at whatever cost, and while he can attempt to resist this urge, it's only marginally effective.
Even if the most tense of situations, Nori is pretty good at keeping his cool, even if he does begin to feel very pressured when things turn against him - such as when an opponent's backup arrives or he finds himself overrun. Outside of battle and around people he likes, though, he is a lot more expressive.
Nori is a pretty nervous person overall. Despite his history as a martial artist, he's a bit of a wimp and coward. He won't enter fights he doesn't have some confidence he can win, and becomes noticeably more formal and more of an ass-kisser when addressing someone a fair degree stronger than him. At the same time, though, it's almost dizzying to see how fast his personality shifts when he believes he has the upper hand on someone - he jumps from a boot-licker to a treacherous asshole, doing whatever is in his power to become stronger. Nori will seize most any opportunity available to become more powerful, and while he isn't below making friends and having allies, he has no problem making the lives of people he doesn't know more difficult in pursuit of his own strength.
Nori finds the mechanical body he was moved into to be a blessing when compared to his old one. Having use in his left arm again is a godsend and one of his favorite things ever, and even if the body he was moved into was designed to be used for combat purposes, he does appreciate the effort. What he doesn't really appreciate is how much adjustment changing bodies has taken, but he's getting used to it.
That being said, though, Nori has a soft spot for struggling and new martial artists, and will take the time to stop and assist them when necessary, given how much them remind him of himself when he had first started out as a human martial artist. His help is usually limited to powering himself down and helping them train, but if there is other stuff he can do, he doesn't mind it.
Given that Nori is an experimental cyborg warrior, he is expected to fulfill certain missions for his mystery benefactor under threat of being forced to self-destruct remotely. He doesn't necessarily enjoy this aspect, but is willing to deal with it - especially given that, at this point, he doesn't really have a choice. He would very much like to free himself from it, but wouldn't want to risk anything short of instantaneously removing the bomb inside of him somehow - such as the Dragon Balls.
Likes/Dislikes:
[+]
Silence - Less headaches and makes it easier to focus.
Combat - Hard-programmed into him to enjoy this, as contradictory as it is to him.
Training - Lust for power, man.
Eating - Stress-eating, to be precise.
Puzzles - A bit of a curveball, but something to challenge his mind a bit is always appreciated.
Ice Cream -
Sleep - Sleep is one of his favorite activities, and he actively partakes in when going from planet to planet, even as an Android.
Sewing
[-]
Loud Noises - Anything that suddenly breaks his focus will very quickly piss him off.
Air Horns - Where loud voices may not send him over the edge, these and specially these will be the end of him.
Pain - Nori has an aversion to pain, which is a bit contradictory for a fighter.
That feeling after you eat of being bloated -
Beans - A weird aversion to the texture of them.
Soft Drinks - Carbonated drinks just never settle well in his system.
Sleep Deprivation - The bane of his existence. Without any sleep, he becomes a complete prick and almost insufferably paranoid and irritating.
Aspirations: Free himself from his 'mysterious benefactor' by removing the bomb from his chest and become the most powerful, as his programming drives him to do.
Homeworld: Sadal
Allegiance: N/A
Starting Planet: Frost
Appearance:
Nori, as opposed to what one would expect from a combatant, does not have a lot of muscle mass. Instead, his status as an Android allows him to remain relatively skin and bones while still packing a major punch. Nori is about average height - something that, because his original body was 6' 2", took some getting used to - and scrawny, but at the same time, the metal parts inside of him make him weigh far above the average human. His skin is a very pale shade and doesn't tan at all, and while his hair was initially a light gray, his time outside has sun bleached it, giving it a much more silver color.
Nori has a lot of variation in his outfit, although most of it is simply casual clothing from Earth. Unlike a good number of combatants, he doesn't wear armor or Gis, instead relying on his body's natural defenses. It typically consists of a T-Shirt and Jeans, although an important factor of them is their ability to move and bend - flexibility, which would be crucial in battle. Fortunately, Nori is capable of mending outfits not capable of moving into something workable, even if it does sacrifice a little design appeal.
The way Nori carries himself is one of nonchalance. He gives off an aura of not really caring about a whole lot, and even under strain, keeps a calm expression. His body language usually tells whether or not he is comfortable, though, and can give him away if someone is attentive. He also tends to act with wide, sweeping arm motions that are plenty dramatic - simply out of personal preference, and something so ingrained in his system that he doesn't even notice he does it anymore. The color of Ki is a bright white with no features, emphasizing how... non-organic it is.
Backstory:
Nori began life as a pretty ordinary low-ranked Saiyan warrior with an intense passion to succeed. Even from childhood, he would spend his time training in an attempt to become more powerful. Even as he did, though, he was always pretty mediocre. His training never really made him into some great fighter or legendary warrior, and while his name would surface as a tryhard every now and then, he never really stood out. Nori, however, was determined to make that change, and would continually press himself harder and harder every training session to surpass his limits and make himself stand out as a fighter. What he didn't do was try to think smarter instead of harder, and that cost him severely.
Nori was still considered a member of the team of Saiyans intended to fight against the more dangerous factions that popped up in the galaxy, and he was called into duty even as his body was nearly beaten and broken from his last training session. His carelessness in pushing his body cost him an arm in the conflict, and almost his life - he barely survived the conflict, and while he would eventually recover from most of his wounds, his arm would remain missing - something would further mar his combat abilities. This instilled something of a fear inside of him, and he would rather avoid the pain that comes with having an arm blasted clean off again.
In order to compensate for missing limb, he begins his training from scratch, making his fighting style much more reliant on kicks and his legs, but in the process, he fell further behind his comrades in terms of gaining power. At that point, while he was up to par with what he was earlier, even with the missing arm, it seemed nigh-impossible to close the gap between Nori and those stronger than him. Consequently, as Nori was sent off with his team to handle more and more dangerous threats on small planets in the Universe, he would find himself being hurt and a liability more and more frequently. At some point, in one fight, Nori is beat to a near-death state, and while his attacker would eventually be killed by another member of his team, he was left in such a state that he was quickly shipped off to Planet Frost for recovery.
While at Planet Frost and after recovering, Nori would finally break down and admit that he just wasn't cut out for the more difficult missions - especially as behind as he was - and steeled himself for how disappointing it would be to finally quit the Sadal Defense Force. It was at this point that an offer was proposed to him by a few inhabitants of the Frost Planet. They would offer him a new, mechanical body with more potential for growth than his current one and with the new arm intact, and in return, he would do favors for them - gathering data, fighting specific groups for them... he was, ultimately, an ideal soldier for the Frost Planet with no choice other than death to fight for what they wish. While it was very obviously not the greatest long-term strategy, in his current state of mind, Nori accepted and would finally have his consciousness transferred from his old body into the new one.
When Nori received the body, he could tell by a persistent nagging in his head that something wasn't quite as he had expected - the oice in his head begging him and urging him to gain more strength was almost unbearable, and a sudden desire to protect his own life above all others was equally strong. When he asked, Nori was told this was 'insurance' that he would hold up his side of the contract, and was also informed that they had the power to shut down Nori any time they wished to should he disobey them - or just outright blow him up using the bomb in his chest.
On that note, and after being told that the planet had no specific requests for him at that moment in time and to 'get used to having an arm again,' Nori would spend a bit of time on Frost, doing as ordered, despite how much spite he held for the people who planted a bomb in his chest.

It was only supposed to be a pretty typical mission for a team of the caliber he was in. Despite that, though, he still felt himself become filled with dread and apprehension - what should have been an easy mission had become a struggle for survival ever since he pushed himself too hard in a training session and had his arm blasted off for his efforts. He had since slowed down his efforts, but the damage was already done and there wasn't anything else he could about it. He was now a lot weaker than the other members of his squad; he was a burden, and he hated being a burden. He had begun attempting to make a style that revolved more around his legs, but today would be a test run of how that would work out for him...
His squad members did, for the most part, leave him alone to prepare themselves, given that the landing zone was nearby. The mission objective was simple in concept - eliminate the band of pirates that had taken over a planet to allow another group after him to restore order. Or, in other words, he was just there to clean up the mess and let someone else take credit for restabilizing the planet. Although, that was fine by him and was pretty much what he signed up for when he joined the Sadala Defense Force.
That being said, taking a glance at the ground, he could easily tell that the ground was getting close, which meant it was about time to begin. Nori gave a steadying breath, steeling himself, and joined the charge at the front, his squad members giving each other nervous looks and gazing at the missing limb on the left side of his body but not saying anything, instead minding their own business and looking away.
It was quiet as they scanned over the planet, which was usually not a good thing when it came to pirate-eradicating. It potentially meant that they were blending in the populace, which would explain the tension in the air as they approached a bustling city. Or he could just be paranoid. Him being paranoid would be preferable.
While the Sadala Defense Force approaching the town wasn't something that was overlooked, no one really had a whole lot to say the team. It was almost eerie how little everyone talked, and there were an abundance of people with hoods over their heads, looking so comically shady that Nori swore it had to on purpose. One of his squad members to the side of him, on the other hand, made his discontent more known - "They're wasting our time! Why don't they come out and fight us?!" He roared, holding his hand up and charging a ball of Ki. Nori, on the other hand, would continue his search, waiting for someone else to stop the idiot from killing someone, when, suddenly, the sound of a blast further in the town caught his attention.
He would quickly fly over, but by the time he got there, the entire area had easily dissolved into mayhem. People were fleeing from the scene, and it seemed like a fight had broken out where a few members of the pirates had ambushed a few stray members of the Defense Force that had gone out too far. He gave a snarl and turned around to the people behind him, giving a yell - "They're over here! Hurry up!" and soared into battle, his opponents having taken notice of him from his yelling and turned their attacks onto him, attempting to assault him with Ki Blasts while he was in the air.
In response, Nori would emit a glow from his yellow beacon from his body, and, from the sky behind him, a barrage of beams would fly towards in front of him, the ki blasts fired at him easily being destroyed by his superior firepower and his salvo of beams colliding with the ground, kicking up an explosion and sending smoke everywhere. It wasn't enough to kill them by a long shot, but it did throw off their focus, and that was what he was going for. He would swiftly fly into the smoky terrain, giving a spin as he approached one of the pirates aiming a swift kick towards his neck, which was met with a satisfying crunch as the pirate's neck shot to an awkward angle and his body fell to the ground, limp.
Another pirate would notice him as he descended, though, and an aura would flare up around him as he charged at Nori - Nori took a moment to notice that the other pirates retreated as their comrade attacked. A suicide mission to buy them time to regroup? - and threw a wild haymacker at Nori. Nori, on the other hand, would float, bringing his waist up to about his opponent's head. Just like I practiced... he mused, and as the punch approached him, Nori's leg jerked up, intercepting the incoming attack with a knee. The opponent seemed slightly confused, but continued to press on, throwing out a series of random attacks that Nori would mostly intercept.
At some point, though, the pirate would let out a smirk and, as Nori swung his leg in a wide arc similar to the one that had snapped the neck of a pirate earlier, disappear from view, instead appearing on the exposed left side of Nori and, holding his hands together, would hammer into the side of Nori's face, sending him skidding across the ground. Nori would recover quickly and attempt to return his attention to the pirate, but as he did, the pirate was already on Nori, taking the high ground in a way similar to how Nori had previously. Nori gave a frown at this - it rendered his legs absolutely moot, and he was left to rely on his single right arm.
On that note, the battle really began to turn against Nori - unlike before, where Nori was able to block everything with ease, more and more attacks would begin to slip through his one-handed guard, and they were beginning to take their toll. Nori felt himself beginning to slow down. Apparently, the opposing pirate did as well, unfortunately, and would rush forward for a swift punch to gut that left Nori with more than a little internal bleeding and blood to cough up. Before the pirate could approach with another attack, however, Nori was gone, reappearing behind the pirate with swift kick to the back of the head that sent them skidding across the ground. He would give a yell as he gathered Ki, and, with his arm, he would fire off a bright yellow ball of Ki towards the grounded opponent, and with another large explosion, yet another body was completely destroyed.
Afterwards, Nori would sink on the ground and inspect his wounds. He was, as he expected, heavily bruised in many areas - namely, on the left side of his face and body - but he was seeing more success overall than he had recently. As he gave himself that mental pat on the back, though, another attack would come flying out of seemingly nowhere - a laser - and it would swiftly pierce through his stomach. Nori would gave a gasp of more surprise than anything as the sudden force of the attack laid him out against the ground. In his efforts to get back up, he easily noticed that it was the pirates that had 'fled' earlier; the pirates had not fled too far away, it seemed. Nori would attempt to hold his hand up to prepare another attack, when, before he could react, a second attack from a different one of the pirates burst through his hand, and he would give a cry in pain as he pulled his arm back in surprise.
A third found its mark on his leg, and he would find himself unable to hold up his footing and collapsed onto the ground. A fourth, his shoulder that had an arm attached to it. Nori had braced himself for a fifth sudden explosion of pain, when he instead heard a different noise - an attack coming from behind him. It seemed backup had finally arrived, and with the offending pirate's attention of him, Nori allowed himself to black out as a group of warriors pulled him away from the scene.
"Good grief, what happened to the left side of his face?! How many holes did he get shot through him? How is his shoulder?! He's only got one good arm left, he doesn't need to lose another one." Even in his unconscious state, the voices of those escorting him echoed in his head.
"Ugh, we don't have the medical supplies on hand for this. Put him on the ship and make a quick stop at Planet Frost. They're the closest place with a decent healing center." a more calm voice barked out. It was on that note that Cyn allowed himself to slip into unconsciousness for real, his mind turning to black...
"...Quite frankly, I don't see this body lasting much more. You're already missing an arm and you were so beat-up that I'm amazed you weren't killed out there." Nori was told, and he would give a grimace and look away at the assessment of his skills from the doctor. The doctor would lean in, though, and speak a bit more quietly. "...However, I do have a proposition for you. An alternate mechanical body, fully repaired and with an arm intact." The doctor reasoned. "I can transfer your consciousness into that body, but in return, I'll need you to do favors for us when asked." the doctor asked.
Nori could tell it may or may not be a trap, but after the day he'd had, he decided to risk it. "I'm in.'
