Note: Please ask permission before joining this thread! With Lord Lagerus' level of irritation, this will turn into an instant kill if you join without permission.
It was safe to say that Lord Lagerus was none too pleased with their current situation. She knew that the universe didn't have a very high standing, but it wasn't her damned job to fix it! She was a destroyer god! Not one of creation! Damn it! Currently, Whis and Lagerus where on their way towards King Kai's planet, and Lagerus was floating in a crouched position behind Whis as they moved. There was a bento of food on her lap that had thus far been untouched, which showed just how irritated the god was.
"This shouldn't fall on my shoulders... that tiny shit should have minded his own business... a tournament of power... really of all things. Honestly if they jsut let me take out Weiss then we could solve this issue right quick. Aaaaaaarg!" Lagerus complained, suddenly grabbing the bento angrily and bringing it over her mouth, letting the food pile into her mouth as she ate it aggressively. She could almost hear Whis laughing at her and it irritated her even more... What happened to the good old days of being able to destroy planets on a whim?!
She quickly finished her food, the bento disappearing into thin air as Lagerus straightened out, taking in a large breath and releasing it as a sigh. She was about to ask Whis if they had arrived yet, but the tiny planet of the Northern Kaioshin soon came into view, and in a mere instant the god and the angel landed on the planet silently. The feline like creatures eyes would scan the area, her eyes stopping on two men not too far off training. Neither would be able to sense their arrival, but it wasn't as if either of them were hiding. Was this him? Was this the power level she had been sensing? It wasn't the strongest, it definitely wasn't that Nasu fellow's power, but there was something about it that acted like a beacon to the god, something about it that called her to him.
"Him..." She told Whis with a slight nudge of her nose towards Cornatto.
It had been almost a month and Galen could already see the results of King Kai’s impressive tutelage. His energy level was rising like never before and he could feel the power of the Kaioken being mastered quickly as his body and stamina grew used to that feeling. It was still a quite dangerous and deadly technique to use, but if managed carefully it could prove a quite interesting asset to the human, which he could put to perfect use when protecting earth. Still, it saddened him to think that even with the power of the Kaioken he was still outclassed by the likes of Jarvis and maybe even with that, he wouldn’t be able to change the tides of the battle he and Jie Shan had against the wicked demon god.
But at the very least Galen had found his spirit again. His resolve was back to full throttle and he knew he could be at least a decent support for his friends, but he had to keep on pushing himself harder, because he had no saiyan genetics, meaning he had to train twice as hard to get half the results. But the human was done feeling sorry about that, he had managed to get this far, to a level of energy and physical prowess he never dreamed could be achieved by a farmer boy from a forgotten village to the east.
He was trying to improve both his blade work as well as his melee finesse when unarmed; a true warrior must be ready to every situation and sometimes he would find himself without his blade and that was something he needed to be prepared for. King Kai wasn’t there all the time, but his directions were precise and helped them overcome every milestone they faced when training his skills. Galen was so caught up with that he barely even noticed the arrival of two of the most fearsome creatures in all existence: the God of Destruction and his attendant, Whis.
It was only when Lagerus said “him” that Galen heard her voice and turned around to stare at her. When his eyes and brain connected and he realized who it was, his jaw dropped and so did the blade on his hand, falling to the ground in a loud thud. Galen’s sweat dripped like crazy and he felt deadly shivers running down his spine. ”O-oh my gosh…” he gulped as he quickly kneeled before Lagerus and lowered his head. He was shaking in fear, but what else could’ve be expected?
”L-lord Lagerus… L-lord Whis…” that was all he could muster to say.
A month was all that had passed, and Cornatto felt just great ever since he had come here; of course, he hadn’t indeed gone way too far, but the results were still pretty satisfying. It was almost like the Otherworld was another world where training also was completely different; it felt like his body had become already more accustomed to this world than the living realm. It was probably nothing more than a sensation, but perhaps he could see why Tomo had told him that the Super Saiyan Three transformation would have been easier to achieve in the Afterlife rather than in the realm of the living beings.
He couldn’t tap into that power just yet, but he knew that he was pretty close; Corn had no idea how much, but it was sure that he was pretty close. His Super Saiyan Two power itself had become more significant than the last time he had used it-- against Yamcha, he believed?
Either way, he wondered if he could perhaps get to fight that ghost again, either him or someone else, it was the same to him, but he wanted to fight someone! Especially with the Kaioken technique-- it was terrific! He didn’t know how he hadn’t ever seen this skill before, but he guessed that in the end, perhaps death wasn’t that terrible.
Hell, even Galen was a lot more fired up than before! He didn’t know just how it happened, but gradually he snapped out of his negative feelings and managed to muster up his fighting spirit back how it used to be; it was great, both for the training and for his sake. Corn was glad that his friend had found his will to fight back and hopefully the two were going to get even stronger!
“Man… To think that I was barely on the level of a new Super Saiyan Two some time ago. Hehe! I sure have improved ever since I have come here-- it feels amazing! I guess I’ll have to give credit to Kaio-sama’s training. He’s an amazing teacher, and this planet is ideal for training! Hahaha… I wish I had used that gravity chamber right now. Ah well! I will make it up by getting even stronger… and then become a Super Saiyan Three!”
The man thought to himself. His thoughts were as firm and pure as they could be; he didn’t exactly have a goal at the moment, perhaps it was because death itself brought the Saiyan to wonder what he was going to do at the moment. Tomoroko did mention something about getting dragged back to the living world-- but was that possible? He thought they were meant to stay dead.
Either way, right now, he just wanted to get stronger, and if he could use it for Earth’s sake once more, then so be it! He was ready for it. He was sure that Galen was, too, after all, they had made it together so far, and he knew that the two could still furthermore break their limits, beyond what the Kaioken could grant them.
The Kamesennin was training at the moment, nothing too incredible other than a warm-up for what he hoped to be a fruitful day; he couldn’t just hold his excitement for how strong Corn was growing-- he wished that he would have gotten these chances when he was younger! Although maybe that was a little bit of his fault for having gotten soft in those times of relative peace.
“Like this! HAAHH!!” - Corn exclaimed as he threw punches and kicks in the air, quickly he planted his foot on the ground and leaned his posture backward before he switched into his fighting stance. Cornatto was apparently all over the place with his excitement, but he was centered and immersed in his training, a matter of fact, he also didn’t notice Lagerus-sama and Whis-san at all when they had first arrived. Corn was not one easy to get distracted during his training, not to mention that neither of their energy was noticeable because of their Godly Ki! But soon enough, his gaze shifted onto Galen the moment he had heard the God of Destruction say something but quickly assumed it would have been the Human’s.
“Huh? Did ya’ say something Galen?”
Cornatto blinked his eyes as Galen’s mind was evidently elsewhere, no, not even that. The brown-haired male was shaking much to the confusion of the dark-haired warrior who just stared at him with wide eyes.
“Uhhm… Galen? Are you okay?”
The Earthling Saiyan was getting worried about his friend as he saw him shiver and sweat like crazy and it wasn’t until the man lowered and dropped to his knee that he thought of following his gaze and fixated his gaze at the two strangers. The God of Destruction and her Angel had come, for the reason that was unaware to both men, but at least Galen seemed to be aware of who those two were.
Cornatto blinked, unaware of the two newcomers’ identities although they looked quite impressive! For some reason, Lagerus also reminded him of his good old friend Cervez. He didn’t know if she was a Hakaishin because she could just be a Zoanthrophe like most on Earth-- either way, what most concerned him was the fact that he couldn’t sense their energies. It was something he had never experienced before other than when he fought that Android on Planet Vegeta, but it was apparent that the two were no artificial machines.
Either way, the man dressed in blue and yellow offered his trademark smile, and both eyes widened in a friendly expression. “Hey there! Welcome to Kaio-sama’s planet,” - he said and walked towards the two figures. “My name is Cornatto! Who are you guys? I don’t think I have ever seen you around here-- if you are looking for Kaio-sama, I’m not sure if he’s around… most of the time he's here playing with his car, hehe!”
As the Angel guided the warp across the cosmos of their Universe to search for the warrior that they were looking for- Lord Lagerus was left with a delicious helping of barbecued pork along with her veggies and rice to satiate her hunger. Whis also had hoped that the food would somehow calm the tilted Destroyer God. "We should be there shortly, Lord Lagerus,"the Angel informed her dutifully. This tournament would prove to be interesting no doubt - and the man they searched for seeming most interesting when they had briefly scanned him in the Angel's staff. As Lagerus vented to Whis with her frustrations about this tournament (as well as the interfering of the Universe 6 Hakaishin of whom she'd been rivals with for several decades) - Whis let out a soft, amused chuckle. "Ohohohoh!" Truly she did seem quite upset about this! "My lord... you remember why that is, don't you? Hakaishin fight at a level that the King of All cannot enjoy...-you both are just too strong to participate in an event like this. A fight between you two would prove too chaotic for his entertainment." he reminded her. "However don't forget that while this Universe is CERTAINLY messier than one would like: many noteworthy fighters exist that are sure to do well in this tournament."
And with that the two had landed. Lord Lagerus scanned the area for the one Saiyan whilst Whis just closed his eyes calmly with a smile. He knew that they would be available shortly. And with that soon they both came- the master swordsman and him."Ah! Galen. I see that once again you've joined the dead," Whis said with another brief chuckle. The Earthling did indeed seem to possess poor luck. To have died again in such a short amount of time since that scuffle on the Lookout only just those few months ago. Perhaps he was just meant to die young.
Following after him was the Saiyan whom they had been looking for. Whis was going to let Lord Lagerus take the lead on this though for now, in case she wanted to see for herself if he was worth the trip over. "Hello, Cornatto. Has King Kai been overseeing some kind of special training for you?" he asked, wondering the answer. He knew it would be a useful thing if this Saiyan possessed the techniques of the Northern Kai.

Running from his house, King Kai came like a bullet, with an anxious look on his face. He ran as fast as his chubby body could muster and grabbed Cornatto's back of his head, forcing him to bow to Lagerus and Whis. "You fool! Show some respect! This is the God of Destruction!!" he said, with his heart beating so loud it could be heard. Then, he stared at Lagerus and Whis and bowed several times. "Forgive him, Lord Lagerus! He is an idiot!" he quickly apologized.
"I could make that fight plenty entertaining! I'd mop whatever floor we were on with that pipsqueaks ass" She glowered right before they landed, giving Whis a little bit of an annoyed glare as he laughed at her frustrations. Some assistant! Wasn't he supposed to be on her side?
"Bah" Was the final thing that escaped her lips as they finally found themselves on King Kai's planet. It hadn't taken her long to pinpoint the source of the energy they had felt through Whis' staff.
"Hm... He doesn't look like anything impressive. Damn it I still think we should go and find the other one with the God powers... oh what was his name again... That little King fellow..." She stated to Whis as her eyes shifted towards Galen when the young human bowed before them. This seemed to calm the God of Destruction some as a light smirk appeared on her lips. Good, so it wasn't the whole Universe that had lost all respect for it's destroyer. However, as Cornatto spoke to them so casually, the God's smirk faded once more and her eyes narrowed on the Saiyan warrior. No matter how much potential these mortals had, they continued to be a thorn in her side.
"Cornatto hunh, doesn't even sound like you're worth my time after-all. Whis, let's go." She started to say, having already changed her mind on recruiting the saiyan when King Kai appeared, forcing Cornatto's head down to have him bow properly before her, as he should have done in the first place. The lower Kai's were always so amusing to her in situations like this, she supposed... she could perhaps reward King Kai for his actions by testing the saiyan after-all.
"North Kai, always a pleasure to see you. Tell me, that boy you are teaching... Is he strong? I am looking for... how shall I put this... hmmm....aaaa... A leader, I suppose. Our Universe likes to put itself in tight spots, and it looks like we will need to fight for it once again. Yes, a leader is what I need, you know him better than I do." Lagerus now moved forward, taking a few silent steps forward, her hands placed behind her back as her eyes never left Cornatto. She could test him herself of course, but then, that would just mean the end of one of their candidates and would no doubt be rather counter productive...
Galen tensed up like crazy when Cornatto went all friendly and casual with Lagerus and when he was about to say something to him, King Kai beat Galen to it and pushed him into a bow. The swordsman felt the relief taking over his body and he sighed deeply. ”Thank goodness, King Kai…” he thought to himself before focusing once again in what the God of Destruction was talking about.
”Fight for the universe, what does that mean? And a leader? So… They are considering Master Kame here? I think he would be a good leader, despite being a bit clueless and too easygoing at times… I hope they pick him for whatever it is. Hopefully it’s not something way too serious though… Earth is already in danger…” and he had absolutely no idea that the stakes had never been higher than this, but his mind was about to be blown when the deities started revealing what it was truly about.
The Earthling Saiyan raised a little bit of an eyebrow in a genuine amusement as soon as Whis asked him whether or not the man had received King Kai’s special training, and he did! In particular, the Kai had taught him the Kaioken-- a technique capable of enhancing not only your strength but pretty much every single other characteristic of your body but at the expense of one’s stamina. It wasn’t undoubtedly pretty, given the fact that it could get to the point you may as well die at an inevitable end, and Cornatto wasn’t indeed all that happy about it; he was dead already, after all!
He nodded a few times with a smile on his face. “Yeah! He’s been training us for a month or so,” - he replied confidently as he wondered who those two were; the two certainly knew a little bit about King Kai than any other newcomer that they could have expected to arrive. Corn couldn’t tell, they just felt like… they were pretty much aware of what they were doing in the whereabouts, but yet again, they didn’t look much like either the ogres or the Kais.
The man had then shifted his gaze towards Laureus in evident curiosity as he had heard something about a ‘little King’ fellow. He couldn’t quite figure out who she meant at. First, he didn’t know many Kings, but there was only one small person that also had a King title. It was Nasu, wasn’t it? Or maybe was it some other person that he just didn’t know? Cornatto almost internally sighed to himself; the Earthling knew so little about some of the new people! They popped up like mushrooms almost.
“Little King fella’ with God powers?... What does that mean?”
However, before he could get an answer-- or let Cornatto have any other say in it. Lagerus had decided just to go away and leave the planet but before anything even worse could happen, King Kai quickly sped up his pace up to the Earthling Saiyan and forced his head down to a bow directed towards Lagerus. Corn had almost lost his balance a bit but successfully bowed as he listened to King Kai’s words.
The man had already heard about their kind before from Cervez, and while the latter was apparently supposed to be one of them, he had lost his powers or something like that, either way though, he had to say, that he was getting excited! He could only wonder just how strong a God of Destruction could be and there was one right in front of him! That was amazing! He didn’t quite know what Lagerus had come all this way for, perhaps she had some unfinished business with King Kai, but it looked like all that she wanted to do at the moment was related to Cornatto. Maybe she wanted to fight him? He didn’t get it.
The man’s eyes seemingly lit up with a bright, newfound interest. “God of Destruction?! Are you serious?” - the man exclaimed. He did indeed see quite more than just a few similarities with Cervez, not only by their anthropomorphous form but also their choice of fancy accessories was pretty much alike. The man looked at her once more as he blinked his eyes.
“So, she’s the actual God of Destruction! That’s amazing… but why can’t I sense her energy? Cervez is incredibly powerful, and if they’re like, almost the same thing, I should be able to pick it up… same goes for the blue guy, huh.”
Cornatto abruptly shifted his gaze at King Kai once more as he called the monkey man an idiot, in an evidently offended expression as he pouted a little bit. “That’s mean, Kaio-sama,” -muttered the man before he dropped it and then decided to play along and act formally-- he wasn’t that good at it, but he could try. “Uh-uhm, hello there! Lagerus-sama, Whis-san.”
If Lagerus was the God, though, who was Whis? He looked a bit like King Kai when it came to color skin, but at the same time, he could pinpoint King Kai’s power level quite clearly while Whis’ was undeniable-- and probably that meant that he had to be something like Lagerus? Cornatto had only known of Androids that far who could completely not show off their energy at all because of their machinery but what was those two’s excuse? It was such a simple thing, but he couldn’t find an answer! It gave him the headaches.
The Earthling Saiyan forced the most normal of expression over his face to perhaps hiding his excitement but he wasn’t used to acting all formal and stuff, he liked to be friends with almost everyone. Even with Nasu! Despite the fact that the latter didn’t quite get along with him, that was fine! He wondered, though, what were these people doing on King Kai’s planet? Not to mention that it looked like Lagerus had come for Cornatto correctly, but why was that? Maybe it had something to do with Cervez?
Soon enough, Lagerus revealed that her reasons to be seeking out someone, and that someone being Cornatto had to do for the Universe’s sake itself and while Corn couldn’t quite understand what she was talking about, it was pretty serious. And at the question, if Corn was strong or not, the man almost got out of boundaries. Of course, Corn was going to say that he was strong, but at the same time, he was sure the best way-- not because it was, but pretty much because so Cornatto would get to fight a god, was a spar! Hopefully, Lagerus would have accepted, though, she didn’t seem to be up for jokes or whatever.
“Oh-oh! Ye-- I mean, I would… yeah, I would gladly spar with you Lagerus-sama and show you my strength if ya-- you would allow me.”

Whis' face turned rather serious at the suggestion of bringing up the Saiyan King. "My Lord - while the Saiyan King is surely one of the strongest fighters... do you really think he should be in charge of this team? His pride did get him needlessly killed. Is that the man you want to rest the fate of the universe on?" he spoke quite honestly. Nasu was certainly an impressive power, but his own pride and arrogance would surely not foster the most ideal of team morales. Not to mention that he would not put the fate of the universe first, if it meant hurting his Saiyan pride. He was the pinnacle of his race's faults and strengths after all. And with that they continued onward. From there onward the interaction with the Saiyan and the Northern Kai began.
Whis chuckled openly at Cornatto's introduction. My, he was certainly a character. Lord Lagerus was sure to have a fit! His lack of manners was certainly amusing. He could understand why his Lord was especially pissed. She had never meet him all those ages ago. "I would look past the man's ignorance, my Lord," Whis suggested with a smile, his gaze looking toward the Saiyan calmly. As the lot of them continued to converse - the Angel stood silent for most of it as he spectated this display. To the keen observer - Whis was studying Cornatto. Trying to get a feel on his personality, his strengths, his weaknesses. He seemed rather simple-minded, which could have its flaws and its strengths. He was the most likely to not get worked up about the tournament, but also quite possibly the least likely to take it as seriously as appropriate. But would he be able to sway the others though? He was a Saiyan, which helped the case of the Saiyan King's brother, and even possibly the Saiyan King and his followers themselves. But what of the others? That was something he had yet to determine.
The fact that the Kais deemed him worthy enough to train meant he was of a good character at least. Further speculation would come with time however as the Angel continued to watch and study him.
"Perhaps testing him against yourself is not the fairest of standards, my Lord. Do remember that we will not be dealing with other Destroyer Gods," he reminded her.

King Kai was just about to shit his pants when Cornatto asked for a spar and he was about to punch his head with all his strength when suddenly Whis seemed to agree. The Shinjin was stunned for a moment, but then he gulped and held his hands together, with a forced smile on his face. "T-that's a wonderful idea, but wouldn't it be better to do it elsewhere? I... The planet is quite small..." he cautiously tried to suggest.
Lagerus would glance back to Whis with a much calmer look to her eyes than she had moments ago when looking at the Saiyan they were seeking to recruit. Whis doubted her judgement on the saiyan king, and while she could understand his line of thinking, she saw something in him the Angel seemed to miss.
"The Saiyan King is smart. He's a brute but he's a strategist. I do think he would be a good candidate as he seems dedicated to preserving his race, which in this case would preserve our universe... aaaaarg but I guess we did agree to look at this one first..." Lagerus defended the little king from the angel's doubts, though didn't push the subject. She would turn to look back towards Cornatto when he seemed to be vibrating with excitement at the prospect of meeting a god. It was rather amusing to be her (in a way) to see this man so excited to meet a god like yet, even more amusing that he would dare to challenge her, even if it was only to show his strength. Without the power of a god though, there was little more the man could do but irritate her.
She let out a heavy sigh as she placed her arms behind her back, stepping away from Whis and instead towards Cornatto. She stopped some ways ahead of him, staring his down seriously.
"Of course I know it isn't a fair matchup Whis, but the man wants to prove his strength, now how can I deny him that? Don't worry North Kai, I'll only use... hmm... maybe 5% power. Your world will be fine. Besides, it isn't your world I will be aiming for." She informed him, making a motion of her head towards Cornatto.
"Go on then. None of this horseplay, everything you've got in one go. I'm not a very patient deity."
The fight between their chosen leader and the God of Destruction was an incredibly short one. Lord Lagerus was still extremely low on patient from her earlier encounters, so when the Saiyan before her failed to provide even enough strength to call on the power of a god she was quick to end their spar. She would bring her power down to a mere 10 ish percent and whip her tail forward to slap Cornatto in the face. The impact was still powerful enough to cut into Cornatto's cheek and send him crashing into King Kai's planet with barely any effort at all.
"Disappointing... though I suppose, you won't be fighting gods. You, when he wakes up inform him to gather the Universes 10 strongest warriors, my attendant here, whis will send him the instruction he needs to get started. " Lagerus would turn towards Galen, her copper eyes bearing into his own with a look of both boredom and anger. She didn't look aggressive, simply displeased. With her instructions given, she would then walk towards King Kai himself, stopping only a few inches away from the short and stubby kai, gazing down at him rather intently.
"He needs to be at his absolute best for this tournament, North Kai. Do finish teaching him that Kaioken technique of yours, as it has served us well in the past... Don't let him disappoint me again..." And with that, both the God of Destruction and her angel, Whis would vanish from sight, both being teleported to one another where they would then speed off through space so they could commence their preparations of the Tournament of Power.
