Ever since that day when the Saiyan Galactic Kingdom attacked and destroyed the entirety of the Northern Quadrant of Earth with the help of the parasitic tree, the Tree of Might, which ended with the death of a few of his allies and from the enemy side, the King's death being a huge blow to the Saiyan Galactic Kingdom. One of the deaths from their side was his... friend, one would say, his rival, a powerful Saiyan warrior by the name of Cornatto. Ever since the powerful warrior's death, Cervez decided to pretty much shut himself inside his quarters and continue his meditation, only going out sometimes to eat or oversee his vassal Samael teaching some of the fortunate ones that he allowed to learn under him.
One would say that he was grieving the death of his rival, yet even if that was the partial truth, Cervez had bigger things in his mind. He couldn't place this feeling nor could he describe it, but it told him that something was about to go very wrong for him and everyone around him and that he needed to prepare before it struck and caught everyone unaware.
"I still don't understand why you are shutting yourself up like this," Samael chooses that moment to come inside the Anubian's quarters, gently leaving a stack of biscuits and tea on the small-sized table in the middle of the room, right in front of Cervez's meditating form. "After all, you know as well as I do that not everyone stays dead forever, they can sometimes come back one way or another, from escaping Heaven or Hell to even reincarnate into another life." Samael sat down on the other side of the table, right in front of his Lord and took one biscuit before munching on it. "The way I see it, you're making a molehill out of an ant nest, my Lord." Most of Samael's words were a jumbled mess since he was talking while chewing, but Cervez understood the gist of it anyway.
Seeing that he wouldn't be left alone to his own devices to continue his meditations, the Anubian gave out a deep sigh through his nose before his eyes opened, giving an annoyed stare at his vassal before dark-purple furred fingers snatched a piece of cookie from the tray, sharp teeth digging into its sugary surface with more strength than what was truly necessary.
"Now what did that cookie ever do to you, Lord Cervez?" Samael quipped with a smartass tone, hiding most of his grin behind the rip of his cup as he took a sip of the soothing liquid. Another glare was his answer as Cervez swallowed most of the sugary treat. "Shut up. I am fully aware of the happenings of the Afterlife and beyond, it still doesn't mean that for some reason or another Cornatto would choose to come back. As you're well aware, some beings in the Universe decide to stay in the afterlife to either become strong or to just find the peace that they so desperately need. Cornatto might be one of those people." Cervez picked another biscuit from the tray, this time eating it slowly as most of his anger simmered down.
"With all due respect, Lord Cervez. I sincerely doubt that Cornatto would be one of those people." The russet-furred Wolfman lowered his cup back on the tray and leveled a look at his Master. "With the way that you spoke about him some weeks ago, not to mention your fight with him thereafter, I doubt the Saiyan Warrior would stay dead for long enough." Samael shrugged his muscled shoulders and smirked. "Who knows, he might pop up out of the ground one of these days with that palm-tree haired smarmy face of his."
The Anubian couldn't help but snort in amusement at the comment and comparison being made. "I guess you're right, Samael." He grabbed his own cup of tea and downed most of the liquid in one gulp. "I guess you're right..." He repeated once more, a brief beat descending upon Master and Vassal as they began to eat in comfortable silence.
It had already been a while ever since the whole Tree of Might stuff happened and while some people had likely gotten back to their lives, some had seemingly not. One of which was Cervez whose focus had apparently shifted to something else recently, as to Cornatto who had gotten used to his stay in the Afterlife for the moment. He liked it, not to mention the fact that he had received training from King Kai and had also met an old friend and trained there with his student Galen.
Cornatto had not forgotten about how he died, but he seriously didn’t seem to care too much about it; he wasn’t the type hold a grudge or anything, but he did recall quite how chaotic the situation was which made it hard to understand a single thing going on in the place. Perhaps even the war on Vegeta was far more organized than what had happened that day with Saiyans on one side of the planet and other fights going on the other. But overall, he guessed that he could call a day with that business and just go on in the Afterlife. And so he did!
In one month he had managed to muster up some exciting results and while they weren't anything way too much out of the ordinary, he had also learned some interesting tricks. But that aside, he had also been given one more motivation that drove him forward to continue with his training, and it was the Tournament of Power. The infamous tournament was an event that was about to take place in about half a month or something like that, but that wasn’t what concerned Cornatto but rather the fact that there would be fighters from another universe and he was all for an exciting fight!
A little issue was the fact that there’d be a penalty for the losing universe; total erasure. But Cornatto had also been given a task from the God of Destruction, Lagerus, who demanded of him to go and recruit at least nine more members of their universe’s team. Among which, of course, he counted the fellow Anubian, who was pretty similar to Lagerus herself, although the significant difference was probably their height, but hey, did that matter? Cervez was reasonably powerful himself and could certainly make for an excellent team member!
At the moment, the Anubian wasn’t aware just yet of what was about to unfold, but he’d soon find out, as soon as Cornatto himself got the time to go ahead and once more leave his footsteps on the blue marble of a planet that was Planet Earth.
With a firm click of the ground, he made his presence clear, as both his martial shoes firmly planted themselves on the ground and not only that-- but his entire being appeared out of nowhere. From his shoes to his hair and a cheerful and careless expression on his face as he rested both his hands on his hips. He didn’t change much physically at all, on the other hand, he still wore his usual garments and close to nothing else, given Corn preferred to keep himself away from accessories and whatever; he did wear a pair of wristbands, though. His muscular, powerful body was accompanied by a blue, training gi that showed off a good part of his chest and what followed below. Everything else was tightened up by his white belt and below his usual yellow pants-- into a whole set of martial arts training uniform.
The Earthling Saiyan lifted his palm up vertically in a greeting manner as he beamed and decided to introduce himself to the two as he stood behind Cervez’s seat. “Hehe. Ossu!”
Soon enough, the man acknowledged both of their presences as he looked at them both-- they felt incredibly stronger than before, he had to say, that no matter how hard Cornatto had trained, Cervez would also keep exceeding his expectations-- and Corn was glad he did so! Else who else would he get to fight eventually? Samael also felt dominant, although he wasn’t as strong as the Anubian.
On the other hand, Cornatto had also significantly improved and had even seemingly surpassed Cervez long since their training in the Room of Spirit and Time. But he had to say, that he would have to pace up his training unless he wanted to get surpassed again-- by all means, though, Corn was soon going to need Cervez’s help too! He had already thought up of something before he had come here to invite him to the Tournament of Power; a little request, but that would have had to wait until he could at least count on the Anubian’s participation.
“Man, it’s been a while, isn't it? I feel like it might have been an eternity! But eh, it was probably just a month or something, right? Time is a little screwed up for the dead when you don’t have to get any rest or anything, haha…”
The man naturally took a look at their cookies and perhaps, if the two were attentive enough, they could hear more than just a single noise coming from his stomach as the Earthling Saiyan gulped the saliva that had gathered in his mouth. “Hey… would you mind if I eat something? I know I am dead and could just avoid it, but the thing is that I just love eating!” - exclaimed the man in utter excitement at the sight of the little meal or whatever it was supposed to be.
But indeed, unless they had noticed already, Cornatto carried around an angelic halo above his head-- it was bright and shiny, thus quite difficult not to see even at first sight. The Turtle Hermit was still dead, but it wasn’t like he didn’t have the means to go to the living realm thanks to the Kai that had assigned himself the job to take him around because of the oncoming tournament.
“So, how are you two doing? I hope you guys are in shape and all because I’ve got some news from Lagerus-sama!”

The silence was broken with a muted click coming from Cervez's teacup touching the tray, the Anubian completely missing the sound of boots hitting the floor behind him as he sighed in contentment and leaned back in his chair, not noticing how Samael seemed to choke on his cookie and beating his chest with a large furred fist as he tried to keep his breathing under control once he spotted who was behind his Master.
"Indeed, perhaps he'd be back one day, who knows, it might be today..." Cervez mused with an amused tone, eyes closing and head tilted back as he relaxed after having his fill of the food and drinks. "Um, Master..." Samael coughed, still trying to regain his breath under control, his voice a little bit rough because of how he almost choked.
Cervez didn't even pay attention to his vassal, and instead continued his musing as his mind briefly thought that he had heard Cornatto's voice inside his head. "It's funny, it's like I can still hear him." He shook his head and lifted a hand, clawed fingers ready to grasp the last batch of cookies and down them before Samael's huge appetite could get in the way.
"Master." Samael tried again, a large bead of sweat trailing down the side of his face as he looked at the Saiyan behind him with a baffled expression on his face, though his lips were twitching with the need to grin and then gave out a huge laugh he was holding on, if barely.
Cervez snorted. "It's like I can still hear his retarded ass catchprase—"
"MASTER!" Samael gave out all sense of subtlety and raised his voice, finally earning the full attention of his Lord, who looked quite annoyed at being cut-out like that. "What is it, Samael?" He intoned, his voice a dangerous bass as he glared at his vassal with a look that could murder.
Nonplussed, Samael merely pointed behind him with a smarmy grin crossing his muzzle.
Turning around, the Anubian blinked multiple times as he saw the most likely alive form of the Saiyan Warrior they had been talking about moments prior. With a frown, Cervez rose a hand, his index finger extended forward and blinking with a small particle of energy gathering in his fingertip; too fast to react but knowing that Cornatto would easily dodge it, Cervez shoots a thin finger-beam of energy aimed right at the Sayain's chest. "That was for dying on me, you asshole." Content that Cornatto would realize why he was attacked like that so suddenly and without warning, the Anubian motioned a hand to the spot on the east side of the low table. "Serve yourself, you hairless ape, the fact that you held yourself this long without pouncing on the food is surprising."
Cervez was almost nonchalant with the fact that Cornatto was standing in the middle of the living room, yet he was aware that the dead didn't stay dead for long, as some have the opportunity to grace their home planets once more for certain purposes, which were normally thanks to the Kais or a higher being. Sure enough, Cornatto was here to speak with them about something that Lagerus-sama said, whoever they were anyway.
He didn't know why but the name briefly sparked a small memory in the back of his mind, though he couldn't quite recall it as most of it was muddled and faint, it was like trying to look through murky water to see the depths of a lake; impossible under most circumstances.
"We've been doing fine, I've been trying to teach these brainless ape the ways of a Martial Artist yet most of them don't meet my expectations, and I've taken my frustration on that by continuing my training to get stronger..." His eyes narrowed as a serious look fell on his features. "Yet, I don't know why, but these last few weeks I've been feeling like something big is about to happen, something that is going to affect not just the Earth, but perhaps the whole Universe as a whole..."
"That aside, it seems like you've gotten much stronger since we last saw you," Samael noted, ever the one to not miss what was important. "I assume you continued to train and get stronger while you were dead, eh?" Speaking of being dead and gracing the plane of the living again, a curious look crossed the wolfman's features. "Not that it is any of my business but, have you visited Kabocha yet? She was kind of emotional when you died... she really trash talked that tomboyish looking Saiyan from the Empire when she tried to apologize from killing you and let herself be killed by your daughter as some sort of compensation."
The Earthling Saiyan couldn’t quite figure out what was keeping Cervez from noticing him, little he knew that the Anubian was right when it came to the animal’s guess; the Universe was indeed in danger, and that thought likely held him off more than anything when it came to his self-awareness. But in a certain sense, it was indeed bizarre that Cornatto would show up moments after their discussion, it was like the man had sensed it, but it was just a mere coincidence of the fate the three in the room were made to live through.
The man cracked a goofy smile as he quirked an eyebrow and stared at Cervez from behind. “Yeah, it’s gonna be today!” - the man followed Cervez’s statement, and soon Samael tried to point out that the Saiyan was indeed right behind the Destroyer.
The Martial Artist blinked and stared at Cervez in surprise as the dog-like person didn’t notice him just yet, despite their dominant auras, he could tell that his friend must have been through some complicated thoughts if he was that much distracted from his senses.
“I’d be worried if you couldn’t hear me!”
The man’s eyebrows suddenly lowered as he exchanged confused looks with Samael for a brief moment until his wolf friend finally made Cervez turn around and at the mere sight of Cornatto, which had probably shaken him although he didn’t show it. Corn returned his trademark salute; with his palm lifted up vertically and his other hand resting on his hip.
“Took you a while over here!”
Soon though, the Turtle Hermit was welcomed by a slightly aggressive approach as the Anubian quickly charged a little energy blast in his finger. Although it was quite indeed fast, Corn’s shoulders did the job as he just moved out of the way with his powerful shoulders that turned on his body’s axis ever so slightly and brought all of his mass to his left side as the blast passed right next to him.
“Hehe! Sorry about that, buddy. But hey, I am here now! Still dead but it’s something I guess,” - the man said in somewhat of a clever manner, but he looked as innocently naive as ever. As a person, he might have been like that, but it was no doubt that he was indeed quite the expert in combat and that his power matched his description, although he might not have been as powerful as some others in the Universe, he had quite the experience.
The Anubian agreed to the man’s request and that filled him with a hint of joy in his heart, he truly loved eating, no matter what. He’d be dead and still eat as much as King Kai could muster up for him and Galen, but between the two, Cornatto was the ‘good fork’. Either way, Cornatto quickly grasped for a seat across the table as he sat down and began eating in a way that one could consider to be greed, appreciation or perhaps the one worthy of a beast. Saiyans didn’t know how to control themselves with food, that was the truth.
As the Saiyan munched on biscuits and whatever else he could find, he eyed Cervez curiously and gulped down all of the stuff he had in his mouth. “Hairless?... I have hair last time I checked, though!” - exclaimed the man with an upward motion of his skull to point out at his spiky, raven-haired hair.
“Well, uh, the truth is that even on the Snake Way I couldn’t help but go and eat some of those golden clouds but hey! Kaio-sama does have some good stuff, but you know, I can’t help it when I see food!”
The man gladly ate some more as he let Cervez speak and curiosity sparked in his mind; did the Anubian train somebody? He didn’t take him for someone who would just take anyone on, but he guessed that was pretty neat and would have helped the Saiyan with his request, hopefully. But he was sure that Cervez would have accepted, given it was going to benefit the Destroyer, too!
“Have you really? Man! That’s pretty cool. Don’t be too severe with them-- you know, kids nowadays have a little bit of a soft heart. It takes time too!”
The Earthling Saiyan, though, was admittedly amused by the statement that followed; it seemed like Cervez might have felt something, either that or he wasn’t one to be all that cheerful. Either way, though, it was indeed right; the situation wasn’t all that good for entirely the universe as a whole. Cornatto didn’t seem to be too concerned about that, though, somehow he was sure that they would have won or perhaps he just didn’t show his concern; he wasn’t certainly going to back down either way, though!
A Universe to preserve-- and amazing guys to meet! This was indeed going to be fun.
“Hehe, you’d be surprised but--” - the man shut his mouth for a brief moment as Samael inquired about his strength and there Cornatto was quick to switch the topic and return a smirk. “You don’t even know how much! Training at Kaio-sama’s place may have brought me at one of the highest pinnacles I have ever reached, but, what’s better is that… my last pinnacle is much higher than where I currently stand.”
But that aside, it seemed that Samael had a lot more than that he wished to speak his mind on; such as Kabocha, whom Cornatto had become entirely oblivious to after his death. He had no other means to come on Earth if not because of this upcoming tournament, he didn’t even know if he’d have the time, but maybe… just maybe.
The Earthling Saiyan, though, from a hint of nostalgia in his black pupils that directed his gaze low, towards the porcelain that had been so gracefully placed on the table. Corn poured himself some tea as his hands reached out for the cup, but before he could get to sip it. Cornatto soon slipped in his stance and backed off from the edge of the table as his weight pushed onto the chair which couldn’t resist his strength and fell backwards, onto the floor and the man followed.
The news that Kabocha would have pulled something like that had surprised even her father, he had never seen that side of hers. Cornatto quickly recovered himself as if the hit he had taken was nothing, his hands grasped over the table’s edge and pushed to lift himself up.
The Turtle Hermit quirked an eyebrow and eyed Samael in the goofiest way possible. “...W-we are talking about Kabocha and Karota, right?!”
Within a few moments, the Martial Artist soon calmed down as he backed off and blinked. He couldn’t quite picture it, but he was somewhat happy; deep inside that Kabocha had reacted so harshly and that Karota cared for the Saiyan regardless of what he had done-- or rather, what he hadn’t done. It made his torso feel lighter-- almost as if at the mere breath he’d gather in his nostrils, he felt a heavenly sensation within his chest; similar as to what one would feel after a good nap!
Although, it wasn’t quite visible, the man smiled and lifted his gaze up towards the roof.
“Karota was a good old friend of mine…”
That tomboyish Saiyan, or however Samael called her, was indeed one of the Saiyan’s old comrades at the prime of the Saiyan Alliance. It was like going through a bunch of old memories everytime one would think about it, but too many things had changed, from what Cornatto had managed to capture in his sight that day. Factions were no more, it was no longer the time of the Alliance as in its old days, nor were they for the Saiyans, once a dominating race they were no more than a little batch of survivors.
“Man, it’s really been some years.”
It was somewhat painful. Maybe one day, Cornatto wouldn’t have been touched by such emotions for a mere lack of Saiyans, but the truth was that the old self, the one who had ever only lived on Earth and the current him, were far different. He had no pride, but he was well-aware of the Saiyan pride, that feeling that ran deep in his veins and unified the Saiyan race. In the end, no matter what happened, he felt a hint of sadness everytime he thought of the Saiyan race going extinct, but at the same time, he knew they had it coming for all they had provoked within centuries of existence.
But among all of them, not all of the Saiyan race had committed wicked deeds.
“Funny… My name is Natto! Maybe we are related haha!”
That one time, when Natto had happened to meet Cornatto out of nowhere and there everything had begun for the young man to start a new adventure; for his words that had reached out to the Earthling and eventually brought him to be one of the Alliance’s first members. Everyone he had met; Natto, Tomoroko, Karota, Totoma and plenty others. They were almost all gone, only a few had survived, the rest had died-- and others were no more.
His friend Natto had lost his soul. It hurt. To have learned that his truest friend had erased himself was a pain within his heart, the heart of a peaceful but powerful warrior that almost felt fragile enough to shatter at the news of the fellow Saiyan’s loss. The Turtle Hermit was unaware that he had reincarnated into another being, but even so, at the moment, Natto was nothing more than a memory and soon would have been the Universe if they wouldn’t have won.
The man snapped back to reality and shook his head at Samael. “No, I have not visited her yet. And well, uh, I’d maybe prefer her to stay out of this for the moment. No need for her to know that I’m hanging around the living world when I’ll have to come back to the Afterlife when this is over,” - said the man with a little bit of a fatherly tone before he switched his gaze towards Cervez.
“Alright, so! Yeah, it’s a big story, so hear me out buddy,” - the Turtle Hermit paused for a brief moment as he lifted his chair back up and settled it on the floor. He took a seat with both arms lazily folded over the table, and his back bent slightly forward as he rested his head on his powerful biceps.
“So, after I died and ran the Snake Way, I found myself at Kaio-sama’s place where I have been training for a while now. Not too long ago, though, the God of Destruction Lagerus-sama paid Kaio-sama a visit, and I fought her-- man, she destroyed me!” - the man interrupted his speech to giggle softly, whether that little joke of his was intended or not, it was not a lie; he had lost that easily.
“But yeah, after that, she made me the leader of Team Universe Seven. There are twelve universes, and we’re one of the weakest currently. So, this guy… uh. Yeah! The King of All, Zenou-sama is pissed off! He wants to erase us. Not kill. We don’t go to the Afterlife as I did, we stop existing.”
The Earthling Saiyan couldn’t help but wonder who could this King be; he had grown a little interest in seeing him lately, perhaps he’d have got the chance to exchange a word with him at the Tournament? He had no idea, but if he was that strong that he could erase an entire Universe, then he had to be entirely something!
“For one reason or the other, though, instead of getting erased right away, we will fight in a Tournament against another Universe which is already risking erasure apparently. The Universe that wins will be spared, the other, eh… kinda obvious, yeah?” - the Saiyan said with a little bit of a cheerful tone and hoped that Cervez would take the news calmly.
“So, are you in, buddy? We could use your strength! Oh! Before you ask me if I know any of the other Universe’s participants, I don’t. Hehe, I recruited one of those kids, uh, that Saiyan girl and had to deal with all her questions, and she talked weird too! But, what I know is just what Lagerus-sama told me.”

Cervez took that time to finally realize that there was something amiss about Cornatto's appearance, mainly the faint stench of spiritual power hanging around the male, which was a byproduct of hanging around in the afterlife for too long, but the dead giveaway that the Saiyan Warrior was still dead was the halo hanging around the man's head with a faint twinkle as the light reflected upon its surface. It made Cervez frown a bit but he quickly masked that expression with a scowl. "I stand corrected, an ape has more table manners than you, you eat like a pig." He declared imperiously with a wave of his hand, eye twitching as he heard a snort of amusement coming from Samael.
Not even the glare being sent to him was enough to deter the Demonic Wolfman from taking a jab at his Master. "I don't know, Master. I've seen you eat like a starving wolf sometimes, you really can't say much as that's the pot calling the kettle black." He languidly tilted his head to the side to avoid the halfhearted and terribly aimed thin finger beam that was shot at him, the shit-eating grin never leaving his muzzle.
Smoke still coming from his fingertip, Cervez merely snarled without much heat to it. "Quiet you." Eating a piece of biscuit with more force than was strictly necessary, the Anubian focused his attention back on the Saiyan before him. "The fact that you met one of the Kais surprises me, as they're not keen on taking just about anyone under their wings." Taking a sip of his green tea to calm his nerves, the Anubian rose an eyebrow in curiosity. "Now, if you had met any of the Kaioshin, I'd been severely impressed. Even so, it seems King Kai's training wasn't for naught as you've got comparatively stronger since we last met." Which, if he was honest with himself it irked him a little bit as he hasn't seemed to get any stronger since the Tree of Might incident.
"Regardless, the way I train my students is none of your business. While I'll take your suggestion into consideration, I have my way of bringing out the potential in a fighter, and it has worked out just fine thus far. You've got your methods and I have mine." Cervez said, with feeling, as he popped a piece of biscuit into his muzzle. "As you know, the Crane School is all about putting your life on the line to subjugate the enemy. As such I expect a certain level of temperance and seriousness to train under me." Swallowing his food, the Anubian pointed a clawed finger at the male. "Even more so if they dare to learn to bring out their Destructive Potential inside of them." He was subtly referring to his Destruction School, not that Cornatto would get the reference but he'd probably infer that he was talking about some powerful destructive technique in any case.
Samael nodded at Cornatto's words, putting them at the back of his mind for safekeeping should he need to go over them at a later date. He kept most of his questions to himself, as he didn't want to bombard the Saiyan Warrior just yet. As it stood, it seemed that his comment about his daughter and Karota awoke some sort of memory inside Cornatto, as he grew quiet and distant for a couple of minutes, a far-away look in his expression if one looked closely.
Cervez didn't really care about the man's past, as it wasn't his business one way or the other, but he was polite enough to let the man have a trip down memory lane without interruption, and if pressed he'd just say that he was too busy stuffing his face to molest the Saiyan with any sort of trivial question or vitriol. But he needn't have worried, as he quickly shook himself out of his funk and proceeded to grace them with quite the interesting tale.
Which, of course, was a massive understatement.
At the mention of Cornatto having met and fought the God of Destruction of this Universe, Cervez and Samael choked on nothing but thin air, with wide eyes the Anubian gaped at the Saiyan. "Excuse you and your entire race?" But that wasn't all, as the man dropped the mother of all bombs right on his lap without so much as 'By your leave'.
"E X C U S E Y O U A N D Y O U R E N T I R E R A C E!?"
Cervez lunged over the table, purple-furred hands make a grab for the man's collar and proceeded to shake him silly with all the strength he could muster, veins pulsing across his forehead as he snarled down at the too cheerful Saiyan, eyes wild and popping. "HOW CAN YOU BE SO CALM ABOUT THIS!? THE KING OF ALL WANTS TO ERASE US AND YOU'RE NOT EVEN SHOCKED AT ALL?!" In fact if he didn't know any better, the Saiyan Warrior looked like he wanted to meet the King of All.
Preposterous!
"This is bad..." Cervez calmed down slightly, which is to say he wasn't trying to shake Cornatto's head clean off his shoulders anymore. He slumped back in his seat, cradling and slowly shaking his head from side to side. "This is really really bad... that the King of All is pissed at us shows how badly this Universe fucked up. The fact that he's giving us a second chance with this tournament shows how merciful he can be..." That, or he was just trolling them; you never knew with Zeno-oh-sama and his mood swings after all.
After a brief moment of silence, the Anubian took a deep breath before exhaling, seeming to have calmed down a little bit more. "Okay... this is fucked up beyond recognition but we can still salvage this." Looking up at Cornatto, the Anubian set his features on a fearsome glare. "I'm in, obviously. I'm the only one that will destroy this Universe when the time comes, till then I won't let anyone else destroy it." This Universe God of Destruction and Zeno-oh-sama notwithstanding...
Something piked Samael's curiosity, the Wolfman taking the news much better than Cervez, that is too say that while he was shocked and apprehensive, he wasn't completely out of it when the news was dropped at the beginning. "So you fought against this God of Destruction?" Samael voiced, looking at the Saiyan with a curious gaze. "How did they looked like? How strong were they?" Trying to not make it as obvious as his vassal, Cervez was also curious about this development.
He'll tan Cornatto's hide later about having the fucking gall of challenging a Hakaishin to a battle later when everything settled down.
The Earthling Saiyan gladly accepted the two’s meal, which, while it wasn’t that much, he could still use something real to put in his belly. It had been a while ever since he had eaten ‘earthling’ food, of course, Kaio-sama also had some amazing stuff but he missed eating as if he were still alive. It was more or less the same, but it gave him a far different sensation than what anyone else would imagine.
Cervez, though, didn’t seem to share as much of the appetite as Corn did, although the fact that his vassal was quick to reply and quite with the remark as the Anubian had apparently shown manners similar to Cornatto. The latter didn’t seem to particularly react or care about this topic of conversation, other than a disinterested chuckle between a bite and the other.
“Well... Haha! I could probably just ignore it but hey, I can’t help myself if I love eating that much! It’s just the way I am,” - said the man as he resumed to eat his cookies after the previous accident, but regardless Cervez seemed to take a strong note in regards to his suggestion as to how Cervez would train the new generation. Cornatto simply blinked and stared as he had seemed to have touched a button, but regardless of that, it was a reply that Corn could admire. After all, the Anubian did show to possess the spirit, his school’s, to be precise.
Corn popped up his head and made a quick note, though. “I actually didn’t know that. I mean, I did hear about the Cranes but I have honestly not looked much into all that stuff. I thought it was dead and everything. I guess I might have to hear out the old man some other time, maybe, or I could ask Kaio-sama himself.”
The Anubian then proceeded to briefly mention ‘the destructive potential’ or something like that, which was something that was pretty close to Cornatto’s request but it was nowhere near what he meant; he needed something beyond the whole Destroyer stuff, he looked after the point beneath those teachings. He guessed it’d be something that Cervez could provide him given the fact that he was supposed to be something close to what Lagerus herself was.
“But hey, you’re right on that! And hehe, yeah. Kaio-sama’s training probably brought me up a pinnacle but, I’ve realized there’s still so much I can do!”
The Earthling Saiyan’s remark came without anything but sincerity, as he had learned from his spar with Nasu quite a few things. The man could still grow so much and he felt it within his frame that he could still unleash a great deal of power if he could only muster up the strength necessary to do so, but it wasn’t as easy as one would imagine, maybe because it seemed so far that for many it’d take years. But Cornatto’s inspiration to get even stronger had not ceased; his aim was still to break the limit, but he couldn’t quite afford it so easily in his current state.
The man’s remark as to how he had fought the God of Destruction seemed to have caused quite a havoc, something that he couldn’t quite afford to understand fully as his eyes widened in a curious gaze worthy of a child, with both his eyes round and orbs settled over the two.
“What?”
That was the only thing Cornatto mustered up between a bite and another, he didn’t quite get it what was the motive of such surprise beneath the two’s reactions, but Corn was still a little bit ignorant when it came as to how the Universe worked; although he had to say, he couldn’t quite ‘care enough’ not as in, he didn’t respect the gods, but rather, he felt like he could just interact with them casually like he did with other people.
Soon enough, though, Corn dropped the biggest bomb he ever did with Cervez; the fact that the King of All was indeed angry at them, and such caused Cervez to almost become paranoid, frightened— he was panicking. Corn almost choked on his cookies as he was pulled from his seat and shaken violently by Cervez as he made a funny and nauseated face.
“H-hey— Calm down, bud! Urgh…”
Cervez let go shortly after as he finally let Cornatto catch his breath and let out a long exhale as the Martial Artist watched the Anthromorphic male just mutter nonsense out of his mouth. “Uhh, is it really that bad this guy is angry? He can’t be that wicked, can he? Like, look! I am super excited for this tournament— I have been looking for a chance to let myself loose in a battle for a while now, hehe. But, you seem more worried about that guy than the tournament,” - stated the male with a hint of curiosity in his words. He had seriously no idea as to what the King of All would be capable of and just how dangerous he could be.
“Who even is this King of All, by the way?”
His question, though, was also followed by the Anubian’s confirmation; Cervez was going to join the group! The Turtle Hermit couldn’t help but grin as he nodded and exclaimed all loud. “All right! Haha! I can’t wait to see you on the battlefield,” - said the Saiyan before he was interrupted by Samael that inquired on his encounter with the God of Destruction. “Yuh-uh! She came on Kaio-sama’s planet with a guy they call Whis-san. Lagerus-sama looks just like Cervez, but she’s… kinda smaller and all. I couldn’t even sense her ki. She didn’t seem too happy when I greeted her and all— Kaio-sama even scolded and forced me to bow down for some reason! Either way, she accepted my challenge and I gave her like…” - the man briefly paused as he seemed to space out. The man rolled his orbs up his eyes and tapped the table as he tried to recall exactly how much power he exerted.
For that one time, when both Cornatto and Lagerus faced each other— although it didn’t last that long. All the Earthling Saiyan could do was to make use of the Kaioken technique, a skill that could allow enhancing one’s attributes; strength, speed, power and reflexes in a matter of moments, for one to simply increase their heartbeat and go forth with their maximum potential. There were plenty of drawbacks, though, such as the fact that no one could go beyond a certain level or it would mean certain death. It didn’t mean one could just use it and sustain it for that long, though.
Cornatto could take it up to Times Ten and it was already very tiring, especially if he was transformed. The Super Saiyan transformation itself was very draining if one applied the Kaioken on top of it. The result would surely be amusing and probably one of the most immense power outputs that the Saiyan could arrange at the moment, but no matter how far he’d go with it, it was still nothing compared to Lagerus. It was useless for him to try even with the Super Saiyan Three transformation, he had heard that Nasu had apparently tried to pull that form to battle the God and it didn’t end that well at all. So, he was pretty sure that the result would have been the same even if he had used the Kaioken alongside the long-haired Super Saiyan power.
The man had to make an estimation of his current power compared to the one he could wield back on Earth before he had died, it wasn’t that easy given ki wasn’t a number but he could tell he could make a little bit of comparison if he put it in terms of intensity. If he had to be precise, he could tell that it was plenty times stronger than when he had died.
“A power… about thirty times larger than the one I had before I died! And she shook it off as if it was nothing! I heard she also whooped Nasu’s butt. So yeah, she’s probably the strongest person I have ever faced.”
The Earthling Saiyan suddenly stood up his seat and gently slammed his hands on the table, as he looked across the fine wooden furniture and glanced at Cervez.
“On that note— Cervez! Lagerus-sama is a Hakaishin like you, isn’t she? You must know something about her power! It wasn’t just ki, there was something I couldn’t sense back then, but now— I’d like to learn more about it. I don’t want to become a Destroyer, but you know, I want to reach the power of the Gods. Not even Super Saiyan Three could stand up to that power... I’m going to have all the team use the Room of Spirit and Time before we leave for the Tournament. So ya' will lend me a hand!”
If Lagerus was truly just like Cervez, the man could only guess that the Anubian knew something beneath the foundations of her power. It was obvious that between Cervez and Lagerus there was more than just a little gap, even if Cornatto had lost their previous fight on the Kame Island, he did also know though, that the tables had flipped once more but it was useless now that Cornatto discovered the existence of such beings in the universe; his soul burned with the desire to grow stronger— deep within himself, he wanted to reach the Gods and fight them one on one.
Cornatto could not yet achieve the form that unleashed the power of the Gods, but what he had seen after he battled Nasu was truly enlightening and was sure that he was just that close from it; truly it would not have been easy, but he believed that with some work, he could truly achieve it too. He didn’t know how it would have worked out, but it wasn’t the ‘how’ that mattered to Cornatto. It was all about whether he could believe that it was possible or not, and as much as one could try to bring him down, the Saiyan was a hard one to break-- truly a skull thicker than metal itself in case anyone ever tried mental tricks on him and that was on both his experience, his blood, his willpower and his martial arts training.
The man smirked as he turned around for a brief moment and stepped away from the table before he glanced over his shoulders once more. “Come to the Lookout. The team will assemble there when it’s all of us, so we can organize ourselves, train and then if we have time left, rest. I’ll see ya’ there!”
The man’s form suddenly began to vanish before his frame completely disappeared, leaving nothing behind. Now it was only up to him to find the rest of the team and finally seal the group together.
