Carva's face would become illuminated by the light emitted by the flame in front of him. The nights of Namek really weren't so cold, but were cool enough to warrant a fire. The Legendary Super Saiya-Jin could have easily stayed at the Alliance base at night. Toru was nice enough to offer him lodging, however he himself wasn't like Rensu. Whereas Rensu was seemingly searching for a place to belong, Carva was moreso sure of where he belonged. He knew of his destiny.
The Kingdom was a family to him, the family he'd always yearned for after escaping his Uncle's clutches. He'd murdered his Uncle after years of abuse, spent a long time traversing galaxies...terrorizing...killing aliens who stood in his way. He reflected on these memories as he stared into the dancing flames, a gentle breeze causing them to sway back and forth. His expression remained stoic and something ate at him...he was back to life, yet he hadn't bothered to contact his superiors.
Superiors was a strong word when it came to the Dark Knight of Saiya. The Self Made Elite felt he was robbed due to his transgressions of going to Earth but he was still a man who felt a call of undying loyalty to his King. He'd wondered how the battle had turned out for everyone on Earth...and it was then that he had to reach out. He simply had to...it was his job.
Reaching down into his satchel, the warrior would pull an advanced Scouter free...the kind very common in the Kingdom, except the lens was a purple color to match the colors on his armor. Clasping the scouter to his ear, the lens over his eye, he would send out a signal from it. He'd hoped the signal would reach his comrades before anyone else. He'd call out specific names, trying to garner the attention of those he knew he would need to contact. "Queen Queen Kinoko ? Captain Tomina ? This is Carva...come in, I repeat...this is Carva." Carva would repeat once more, then call out to another name with a bit of disdain in his voice, followed by an eyeroll. "Captain Tarro ?"
"You claim to know the definition of "pain". Allow me to show you it's true meaning!"- Carva

Tomina had a lot on her mind right now. Specifically the so called Tournament of Power being the looming thing she would have to deal with, while the recent losts that the Kingdom had suffered recently being on her mind as well. There wasn't really much she could do about the tournament other then wait until she had a chance to talk with the other fighters. The whole battle on Earth went through her head. If only things had turned out differently... maybe they wouldn't have lost so much. Tomina was still mad at Carva and Rensu, but wished they were here. Given the circumstances the Saiyans needed all the help they could get. Tomina lay back on her bed, closing her eyes and trying to relax. All of a sudden, her scouter on the dresser next to her started beeping. Then a familiar voice came through. Tomina's eyes snapped open, her eyes staring wide as she heard Carva's voice come in.
<No, it can't be! He's dead too! What the hell is going on?>
Her brain whirling to come up with some kind of explantion, Tomina snapped the scouter on and responded to the call.
"This better not be another booty call. I shot you down the first time you tried hitting on me, and I'll do it again if I have to. Where is your position?"
First she had to make sure it was him. If it was the real Carva, then he would most definitely point out that she was the one that he hit on him, and he had accepted her advances. There was no possible way for anyone other then Tarro to know that though. She was the only one she talk to about her encounter with Carva. If this was a fake, then she would lure them into a trap and deal with them then. Tomina waited to see how the person on the other end would respond.
The Self-Made Elite had dealings with Tomina before, and he breathed a sigh of relief when he heard her voice come back at him. Leaning back against a felled tree, he would reach into his pouch once more, producing a bad of puffy white confections. Were they clouds? No. They were a delicacy on Earth when he was six...his memories would wander back to the many camping trips with his father as a child. He'd retrieve a nearby stick and stab one of the white confections he'd found in the old ship he'd found crashed on Namek. He held it over the flames, the mallow browning a bit.
<Tch. Don't know what's got her panties in a wad. Any woman should be happy to hear from The Great Carva. But I suppose she thought I was dead...it must be surprise that I am contacting her...and not long after I died. Though...I...don't remember our encounter going like she thinks it did.>
His thoughts would be accompanied by a devilish smirk, befitting of a warrior doubling as a "sexy beast". He shook his head, and Tomina would hear a chuckle filled with conceit and arrogance. "Sad to say, this ain't no booty call. Furthermore, the way our meeting went I seem to remember you coming on to me ... and of course I accepted your advances, as any hot blooded Saiya-jin male would..." he snickered a bit, those memories coming back to him and bringing a perpetual grin. "...all...night...long."
It was now that he knew the hot headed Captain was probably angry. It was at this time that the old Carva would have cowered. But Tomina would be able to hear a new, undying confidence in the voice of the Legendary Super Saiya-Jin. His tone would go to a more professional one and he'd give her the information she'd requested. "I am on Namek...this small, green planet which surprisingly has very nice people on it..." She could hear an audible gag from the honorable, yet evil Saiya-jin. "...such a joy. Anyway, I don't know how I ended up here...all I know is that I blasted a hole in the veil and ended up here. Rensu is here too for whatever reason. Rest assured that I didn't bring him with me this time."
He would let that information set in, and await the answer from Tomina. He fully expected a scolding from the warrioress anyway. He wasn't worried..he had more confidence than ever.
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
On the other end of the scouter, Carva would only be getting silence. Tomina could no longer deny that it was Carva. At this point Tomina was running out of explanations as to how all of this could be happening. Other then of course, the thing that couldn't possibly be happening. Tomina rubbed her hands over her temple, trying to process all that was going on. There was no way he could be alive, yet there it was. Still, all she could do was try and get more information as to what the hell was going on.
"Oh right, it did play out that way. I've done that so many times that it's all become hazy, you know. Every guy just seems like a clone of the same one, you know? I'm on Nasu's ship. I can't tell you where we're going right now, since we don't want our enemies tracking us. I'll give you the short version of things. Nasu is dead, Saiya has been destroyed by Nakiya and the demons who work under her. That accursed android Ash likely played a role in that as well. I want you and Rensu to hold your current positions until otherwise told. I want you to tell me everything in the meantime. How did you two end up on Namek? What have you been doing since you got there? What is this "veil" you speak of, and how did you get out of it? If you don't know anything about how Rensu got there, then I want to hear it from him directly."
He leaned back against the log behind him, watching as the slow burning flames darkened the marshmallow. Somewhere deep within Carva, Tomina's voice soothed something. He'd never admit it, but that familiar voice was comforting. Perhaps it was the childhood he'd been robbed of so long ago? A man like Carva didn't find much comfort in his life.
That single night with Tomina and Aphra was one if the single best memories the man had, and if she saw the look on his face when he thought about it, she'd slap him. It was...was it...a happy memory? Could be...she was quite the woman. However, his features scrunched as she implied his similarity to other men. His pride would speak for him. "Really? Tell me, Tomina...how many Legendary Super Saiya-jins have you slept with? I'll have you know that those rookies couldn't lace my boots. I make beds quake, ask the female recruits. Heh."
Truly his pride spoke, yet not his anger. Tomina would recognize a cool demeanor in her former student. Carva on the other hand would bite down into the still hot mallo, the sticky sweet snack burning his tongue. Yet he wouldn't cry out nor would his expression change. He'd remain professional. He'd follow orders. "Oh, I will follow your orders, Lady Tomina. No doubt about that...I trust you. I understand why you don't want to be tracked, must be a big operation. Just know that I am available..." he bit his lip. "...as for Rensu, I am not so sure about him. Let's not go into that now."
His eyes would focus at the ground for a moment as she explained every thing to him. The death of the King, the destruction of Saiya...Ash...his hand would shake with a fury that could be felt on an almost Galactic scale, the tone of his voice darkening as his blood trickled onto the ground. He had to remain quiet, as hard as it was. "Dead? What the hell happened? And Nakiya, that demon bitch with the...strange...creatures? Tch...cowards. The King is dead, our home is gone...but I propose that we do not give up. We destroy those who gave transgressed. We. Make. Them. Suffer. As for Ash...if she was involved...I and I alone will annihilate that mechanical freak."
It was all Carva could do. Saiya wasn't Vegeta or Natto, and Nasu wasn't his father. But deep down, he cared for each and every one of those dead people now floating around in the afterlife as he had before. He calmed himself and explained. "When I fought Cervez...I achieved what I believed to be my most powerful form. At first, I thought that creature was a Zoan. He seemed so similar...but he wasn't. Apparently, he is an Anubian...and he barely beat me."
"Then...I found myself before a strange woman in a huge palace. She was...attractive...if quite large. I would have done more while I was there, but when you're dead you don't have a body." He rolled his eyes. "Stupid ass afterlife rules. I went to Hell and floated around for a few weeks, until I discovered that I could reclaim my body. Turns out, my uncle had hijacked it. So I had to defeat him using my brains to get it back...once I got it back, I destroyed his soul. He no longer exists nor does he have any control over me in any form."
He told the story of how he found the school, and trained with the spirits of his ancestors. How they taught him to Utilize his deadly power, the new transformation he'd got. He'd then explain the veil. "The veil is sort of a barrier between the land of the living and the world of the dead. The training I received...heh...my ancestors taught me an incredibly powerful technique which I used to rip a hole in that veil and escape the afterlife. The downside is...that method made me end up on this mud ball, where I have mostly been playing nice and training with Toru. Who is way too nice to me..."
Tomina would hear an irritable grumble on that last statement, but on the bright side...that gave the Kingdom recon on an Alliance warrior, should they need it. Finally, he shrugged. "I ended up here by chance...I'm not sure how the Hell the kid got here, he doesn't hang out with me."
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
Tomina was glad that Carva wasn't able to see her face. Or maybe it would have been good for him to see how irritated she was. Although more then likely she would have had to beat the point across. Tomina pressed her palm over her eyes, replying to him dryly.
"I've slept with zero, actually. You weren't a Legendary Super Saiyan at the time. Only yet another Saiyan that I spent a night with. I don't recall getting many recruits after the battle for Saiya, and even if we did, they're all dead now. So I guess you can't really back up your claims one way or the other."
Admittedly becoming a Legendary Super Saiyan was impressive in its own right. It was the form that her family bloodline was infamous for using. Her mother Queen Letis and half brother Prince Athren ruled the Empire through two generations utilizing its power. Not to mention Queen Kinoko had acquired it too. Still he wasn't the first person to achieve it. Although with how dire things were for their race, he might be the last one to do so.
"That fusion technique Komatsu and Chris used was enough to overpower Nasu's God form somehow. I don't know the exact details on how the battle on Saiya played out. And we got are reports brought back by the 10 survivors. I'm sure Ash was involved in some way though. I should have gotten rid of that thing when I had the chance. No matter, we'll kill them all one day."
Tomina then heard quite a bit more strangeness coming from Carva. What could she really say about the stuff that supposedly happened in the afterlife? Large red woman he wanted to hit on? Not having a body at first? His uncle stealing his body? Honestly, she just decided to put all that aside and shift the subject matter to things that they could do things about. She raised her head from her hand, talking back to Carva from the other end.
"That story is fascinating, but you can elaborate on those parts later. Rensu vanished after taking down his opponent. He didn't even wait for orders: he just went and fled the battlefield after one fight. He didn't even stick around to help. I don't know why he would flee to Namek of all places. These Anubians though... did your learn anything about them from your fight with that one?"
Tomina now knew the name of the race that Lagerus was a part of. Knowing what she was made that being seem less omnipotent. She likely just build herself to that level of power over a period of time. One day, even if it took her hundreds of years... Tomina would surpass everyone eventually. She would not stop until she was the strongest in existence.
Carva listened to the Captain in silence, facial expression changing from an arrogant smirk to a grimace. This could have been due to a possible blow to his ego, but moreso it was something else. The point here was not his romp with Tomina. It wasn't about future romps that he may have with the woman, because as he sat there and listened to her speak of recruits being dead, the truth hit him a little harder. A seriousness came over the man's tone, a bit of regret heard as well.
"Somehow I get the impression that there were no survivors at all. Somehow I feel partially responsible for this, just as much a killer as those cowards who waited till the big cats were out hunting to attack the den. If I hadn't gone to Earth...tch...well, maybe I would have stayed behind with Captain Tarro and Rensu. We could have protected our home while Nasu and his forces planted the tree. But, unfortunately, that wasn't the case. So here we are now. Seperated. Rest assured, Captain...I will redeem myself. Their pain and suffering at my hands will be Legendary."
Sadness. Regret. Two things which weren't shown very often in the past from Carva. But at the end of that very statement, she would be able to hear a fire igniting in his tone, an ominous warning. Carva meant every damned word he said. He could still remember the day Ash berated him...he could remember how she attempted to make him feel inferior. But he also knew something else. She sold her soul for power...she'd told him so, not in so many words. She was machine...but Carva was monster.
Furthermore, when he heard about the fusion...Carva looked quite confused. He didn't remember seeing this happen. He'd ask Tomina a few questions of his own. "Fu-...fusion technique? What the fuck is a fusion technique? Sounds pretty potent if it overpowered Nasu..." A bit of worry could be heard on his tongue now, a bit of hesitancy from the Saiya-jin. "...so you mean to...to tell me that, correct me if my assumptions are wrong, Christopher and Komatsu became one? This is strange...though...I suppose the story I told you must sound outlandish as well."
Was she asking about Cervez? Or Anubians in general? He thought back to that fight on that day...the wind bitingly cold on his bare arms. His hair wet with snow, the condescending tone with which the Anubian spoke to him. His tanned skin would slowly begin to turn red, a bit of green energy wafting off of his form. His anger could be heard in his tone...and his control of it was showing, even over the scouter link. He took a deep breath and spoke. "Well...I learned that this particular Anubian's power was something to be spoken highly of. I don't know if that one was an indication of them all, but even in my Legendary form, he was able to match me...move for move. He said that Anubians were entities of destruction..."
Carva shook his head. Once he thought about it, though he hated the fact that he was defeated, he also remembered something. Cervez didn't cheat...he beat Carva fair and square. Carva grunted into the scouter. "Hrmf..."

Carva surprised Tomina when he admitted that he was in the wrong when he traveled to Earth without authorization. She assumed that he would have seen it as the right thing to have done. At least he knew what he did was selfish. Although that wasn't going to sway her hand about punishing him for it later.
“There's nothing we can do change what happened, so there's no point to focusing on what-ifs. We will get back at the demons and that accursed android one day for sure. Right now it's best that we lay low.”
Tomina grit her teeth, her anger rising at the mere mention of that technique. It had been yet another cowardly and underhanded move by the Alliance, and they were helped by a species who had been getting in their way constantly.
”Those accursed Kai taught them some kind of technique that combined them together. Their power…. it was monstrous. I’ve never sensed anything remotely like it. Those bastards… they couldn't take Nasu on in a one on one fight, so they used a power given to them to gain the upper hand.”
Tomina let out a low growl at the thought of it. Those Saiyan were truly scum. Still, there was a small silver lining to their actions. She had no way of knowing how strong Nasu’s god form was, since she couldn't sense his energy. Now she knew that particular form was weaker than a fused Koma and Chris fighting at full power. She now had a reference point as to how much power that form had granted Nasu. It would be useful information down the line.
Carva didn't have too much to say on the Anubians. Some information was better than none though. She had sensed the powers of both of those beings, and they were quite impressive to say the least.
“Well so far they live up to the title of destruction. The weakest one we’ve encountered was strong enough to contend with a Super Saiyan. They must be naturally powerful like the Kold Demons are. Some species are born stronger than others.”
Saiyans had to train hard to reach their full potential. Naturally stronger species did have a bigger advantage though. That was why the Kold Empire had been the dominant power in the universe for as long as it was. Yet the Saiyans overtook them and crushed their Empire. These Anubians certainly seemed gifted with powers, but the Saiyans would overcome them as well.
“Carva, I want you and Rensu to stay on Namek for the time being. We have reason to suspect that the demons and that pile of rusted scrap will take an interest to that place. We will send you additional support, although we can't spare much at the moment.Relay these orders to Rensu, and contact me if the situation changes over there. Oh and Carva…”
Tomina then spoke to her subordinate with a icy air to her voice. It was something that one wouldn't expect to come from a fire user like Tomina, but sometimes her anger became darker then her loud outbursts.
“Don’t. Disobey me. Again. If you’re daft enough to do it a second time, I will inflict agonizing pain to you. The horrors of hell are nothing compared to what I would put you through.”
Tomina turned off her scouter, setting it onto the nightstand next to her before letting herself fall backwards onto the bed. The springs squeaked as she bounced a couple of times, her legs dangling down to the ground. Tomina closed her eyes, her mind was a raging storm of emotions and thoughts.
<The afterlife… it can't actually exist. Yet so many people believe it does, no matter what allegiance they have. If Carva made up escaping from hell, I won’t show him even the slightest bit of mercy.>
Tomina wasn't the kind of person who made empty threats. To her, they were a promise that she made to the ones she directed them at. Talk only had value if you backed up your words. In the middle of their fight on Saiya, Tomina had told Hakobe that she would cut off his tail and shove it down his throat. She had done exactly that after she put him on the brink of death.
Still, Tomina was fairly certain that Carva would follow his orders this time around. If he didn't, then it would either make him one of the dumbest people alive, or a masochist who wanted to be put through hell.
Tomina's thoughts shifted away from Carva, her inner turmoil over her believes shoving the thoughts of her subordinate aside. She stayed on the bed, doing everything she could to grasp reality. Nearly everything she believed in was being put into question. Yet she would hold onto them and fight her doubt: she wouldn't, no, couldn't accept things such as an afterlife. Like she had told that Kai back on Earth, she wouldn't believe in it until she saw it for herself. Unbeknownst to her, there was a high possibility that she would see it in the near future.

Carva looked down at the ground as she said what she said. There wasn't anything that could be done now to change things. The thought of getting revenge on the demons and the android was nice, but Carva couldn't help be feel partially responsible for their mission's failure. For a man as proud as Carva, this was quite a blow to his ego. Furthermore, it made him wonder if he was weaker than he once thought he was. <Yeah...we'll get them back she says. But thinking back to that battle with Cervez...and more recently the spar with that Toru...I couldn't hold my Legendary form. I almost wonder...what good will I be if we have to face the demons...>
He'd felt this feeling before, but only once. He'd felt it during his battle with Tarro, his now commanding officer. His hand would begin to shake with the stick in it, and he'd grit his teeth. <Damn it...reminds me of that fool, Tarro and his words that day...> the twig snapped in his hand and he shook his head, continuing to listen to his captain.
"Affirmative...we will remain here until needed, I suppose." As she warned him not to disobey her again, he simply nodded silently. Suddenly, the memories of the words "think for yourself" would come to mind but he would have to put those thoughts on the back burner for now. He was in a foreign world anyway...no need to cause undue stress. He needed to keep things low profile...just as she'd said. He responded as she hung up. "Yeah...will do..."
He removed the scouter from his ear and sat there quietly, grumbling to himself. The seeds of doubt would be planted as those thoughts would run through his head. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully...he had to train...he had to get stronger...but how? He felt as if he'd hit a plateau, and there was a huge mountain in the distance...he needed a true challenge to motivate him...
