The first thing she was aware of was how warm she was. She felt like she was encased in a cocoon of silk. Her eyes opened, a small smile spreading across her face at the sleeping face of her boyfriend inches away from her own. She slid her hand out from under the covers, gingerly stroking his temple with her fingertips.
Demalia had managed to make it through the night without any more incidents, and it was all thanks to Rutaba being there. He had driven the nightmares away from her in a heartbeat. They probably wouldn't stay gone forever, but for now she could be at ease.
Demalia quietly slipped out of bed, her feet sliding into the pair of slippers that she had left there the night prior. She made every effort not to wake up her sleeping boyfriend. She pulled the covers up, leaning down to straighten them out. Once again, she found herself inches away from his face.
The longer she looked at him, the more that longing filled her. She didn’t know what it was about this particular moment, but she had this overwhelming urge to kiss him on the lips. She leaned forward, almost giving into temptation. She did get a bit of a handle of her emotions though, her logical side kicking in.
<No… I don't want it to be like this. We’ll do it when we're both ready to make that jump. It has to be special, and I don't want to do it when he isn't awake.>
Demalia contented herself with pecking his forehead instead. After that very brief kiss, if Rutaba didn't wake up, she would make her way out of the room and make her way to the cockpit.
If Rutaba stayed asleep during the duration, then she would slide into the chair, her hands tapping against the console as the ship flew through space. They were minutes away from her homeworld. Very shortly they would find themselves on Plant.
Not much would happen in terms of the Saiyan stirring from his sleep when the Tuffle interacted with him, the Peacekeeper seeming to fall into more relaxation since they went back to bed. He was easy to wake for the most part, but something as soft and caring as this wouldn't stir him just yet. But due to them falling asleep near the same time, it didn't take him too long to actually wake up on his own time, sitting up and stretching to look around, only to realize that Demalia wasn't in the room anymore. He supposed she got up to go do stuff, they were to be at her planet very soon so she was most likely taking care of that.
Without much haste, the Saiyan got up and put back on all of his gear, including his heavy-weighted vest that was placed just under his fatigues. He didn't wear them to sleep but he always placed them back on the moment he got up and would most likely do this until they wore out their use. With all of that done, he took a moment to fully wake up before making his way to the cockpit of the Triad with a relatively fair pace. His eyes slowly glided along the console that she was tapping on, finding it all very interesting but still moving on to actually look at Demalia now, wishing to set his focus on her for the time being. "Goodmorning Demalia." he spoke with a soft tone as he arrived, still getting his bearings in a way but being as operational as he could be.
His focus would slowly move out into the vastness of space to look around, keeping his hands away from anything just in case it was important as he just sat still. They were getting pretty close to Planet Plant, so it was finally time to settle down there. They had hardly been off of Sadal for very long at all, but it still somehow felt like he was away from home for ages. He didn't really know how he would handle being out on this new planet, but everything Demalia had spoken about in the past gave him relative ease. He just had to see where it went. WC: 344 TWC: 344 Offensive/Defensive PL: [76,878 Base] - [19,220 HeavyWeighted]
Demalia turned around at the sound of her boyfriend's voice. A slight tinge of pink appeared on her cheeks as she realized that he had already gotten dressed and she was still wearing her sleepware. Not to mention she was a little nervous about what she had just done. Now that the moment was over, she felt a bit embarrassed about kissing him on the forehead.
"Hi! Morning Rutaba! Did you just wake up? Of course you did, why did I ask that?”
Oh lord. She was completely letting her nerves get the better of her. She needed a distraction and fast. She turned her head to look for something. Her eyes snapped towards the outside of space, pointing out into the depths of space.
“Oh! There it is! Planet Plant!”
Off in the distance a planet was steadily getting larger. The familiar stars of home beckoned her back to the place where she was born. And soon Rutaba would experience it for himself as well.
Due to still being a tiny bit groggy, the Saiyan hardly was able to catch anything off about the Tuffle as she fumbled around with her sentences. Rather, he smiled at her and just gave a soft wave. "Hello indeed. You weren't up for too long, were you? I'm sure it gets a bit lonely in this ship when nobody is around." he asked this sort of casually giving a small stretch before peering out into the vastness of space as she pointed out. Was she trying to show him something? He honestly couldn't notice a single thing with so many stars around, it was hard to see what she was pointing out exactly. That didn't stop him from doing his best to look around in that general direction, however.
Soon enough, the planet that was in their view was getting larger by increments, so that was Plant. "I've never physically seen it before... just pictures and ways it has been described. I'm a bit nervous now, going to your home planet." he slowly lifted his hand up to the back of his head to rub slightly. Of course, he wasn't worried in a negative way to put down her people, but it was more an anxiousness thing. "People here are really smart... I don't want to stand out too much for not being on their level. Though I guess I'll stand out for other reasons too..." with that said, he gave a very slight chuckle before dropping his hands back down by his side. Sure enough, he was excited to see her home and everything that it had to offer... but perhaps that excitement was the reason for him being so nervous. He didn't want to embarrass her in front of people that knew her or would be watching over her future career!
Perhaps that just meant he had to be on his best behavior. But with that in mind, he'd look towards Demalia now to try and get some confirmation from her. "Do we need to do anything on the ship before we land? I want to make sure everything is prepared and all." his voice sounded a bit more confident as if he was ready to help. He just had to see where this would take them now. WC: 381 TWC: 725
Fortunately her boyfriend didn't seem to catch onto how nervous she was acting. She was sure that he was going to notice something. Well, maybe even he couldn't operate at full capacity before having some coffee. Demalia gave him a timid wave back.
“Um, I haven't been up for that long. I haven't even gotten dressed yet. It was a little lonely coming out here by myself. But you're here with me, so there's no way I can be lonely now.”
Demalia looked out the window, her eyes shining as her planet got steadily bigger. She never though she would be this happy to see home again. Rutaba seemed to make any experience better for her.
What he said next surprised her though. Demalia tilted her head, looking at Rutaba with surprise. He was… nervous? He was worried about how he would perceived by the Tuffles. Demalia turned in her chair, crossing one leg over the other and leaning forward. She looked down, fiddling with her fingers in her lap.
“I'm a little nervous too, heh. Although not nearly as nervous as I was landing on Sadal. Your defense force is well know, so there were some rumors that Sadal was a bjt… um… wild. Plus you’re all so tall… it was rather intimidating, actually. But I found the courage to step out of my ship somewhere.”
Demalia reached out, gently grasping one of Rutaba’s hands. He did his best to comfort her last night. She needed to do the same thing when he was nervous. Although she didn't imagine this would come up as much, since he was a brave Saiyan.
“It’ll be fine Rutaba. You’re plenty smart on your own. You know about advanced battle techniques than we do. You’re not an idiot and you’ll get along fine with them. If you make a fool out of yourself then I’ll look like a fool along with you.”
Demalia gave Rutaba’s hand a gentle squeeze, looking at her boyfriend warmly. She wanted to assure him that everything would turn out fine. He would stand out, to be sure. But she was rather unusual looking for a Tuffle, so it evened out.
“Well, I’ve got to go and get dressed. I’ve plotted in the course so we should be all set to go. You can make some coffee or something in the meantime: I plan on fixing some breakfast when we get on the surface. I’ll be back in a minute, okay?”
Demalia squeezed his hand again, then jumped to her feet. She practically jogged off, hopping up into the air and sliding on the floor into her room before shutting the door behind her. Rutaba was left in the cockpit to do whatever he deemed would help out the most as the ship edged ever closer to Plant.
It seemed both of them had something to be nervous about, but hearing about how nervous the Tuffle was when it came to landing on his planet as well, it made a lot more sense. Everyone might get like that sometimes, but people were able to grow that way. It was most likely going to pass for him immediately, this was just him being worried for nothing at the last minute surely. With that in mind, Rutaba gave himself a nod, trying to psyche himself up for what was to come. Though, he'd wake up a bit at the feel of another's touch, his gaze dropping to see Demalia grasping one of his hands. He couldn't help but give a slight smile as he looked her in the eyes now, listening to what she had to say before giving a bit of a chuckle, rubbing the back of his head again. That last bit was what he was actually worried about, which was the funny part. She was no fool, and he knew that being a guest along with her would give her the same weight for his actions. But at least she was reassuring him that he was smart in his own way, just not the same way as them.
"Thank you, Demalia." he'd squeeze her hand back, beaming at her back a bit. He knew that the worry wouldn't pass him by just yet, at least not until they landed. But he could be safe knowing full well that he had more of a shot and had some reassuring in the matter. The topic would shift almost immediately, making the Saiyan snap to attention a bit more as Demalia said she had to get dressed. That was a logical thing to do, walking around in Pajama's wasn't exactly the most comfortable in public, least for him. Plus it would give odd looks for its own reasons. "Take your time." he'd give the Tuffle a wave as she jumped up and jogged off, chuckling softly to himself as she slid into the room and shut the door behind her. It seemed that he was in relative silence for a moment to himself, his body turning to look out into the vastness of space, his pitch black eyes scanning over the uncountable stars, just thinking to himself in the meantime as he waited for them to arrive at the planet.
He knew he could go do something productive in the meantime, but his body had hardly a care in the world to move for the time being. He was almost like an unmovable sentry as he waited there. She had suggested that he go make coffee but, he just wasn't feeling that right now... he was waking up slowly anyways. He just wanted to take the time to think. WC: 469 TWC: 1,194
Demalia’s cheeks took a tinge of pink when her boyfriend returned the gesture with his hand. She still wasn't quite fully used to physical things like this. Last night she had been too afraid to really focus on these kind of things. But now her thought process was back to normal.
Demalia went off to get changed. She came back with her usual hairstyle and glasses. She had taken a few minutes, so she seemed to have deliberated what to go with for a bit. She sat in the pilot seat, strapping herself in and taking reign of the ship.
“Um… please brace yourself Rutaba. We're about to enter the atmosphere of Plant. It's going to be a very bumpy ride, even with the energy shields active.”
And indeed it was. They practically slammed into the atmosphere despite Demalia’s controlled descent. Fire raced across the energy fields, and the whole ship shook. After it seemed like it would go on forever, they made it past and found themselves overlooking a grand city. Rutaba would get a good look at it as they flew down towards it.
Rutaba didn't have to take a long time in thought by himself as Demalia returned soon enough, a smile returning to his face as he decided to focus on her and what she was doing once more. It seemed they would be entering orbit now, which Rutaba knew fully well was quite the event due to all the times his frail space pod entered atmospheres to eventually break down into what it was today. He really had to get that thing replaced but he never put his funds towards it for whatever reason. "Noted." he'd reply very briefly to what she had to say, moving a bit away from the cockpit area to actually hold onto something. Surprisingly enough it was more comfortable to descend in a Spacepod. Everything was confined and you had very little to move around in. Where he was he could possibly start rolling around the ship due to losing his balance. But he supposed that's what spaceships could be like sometimes.
His body wasn't exactly prepared for the impact of the large ship hitting the atmosphere, his body wanting to pressure towards the floor for a moment. At the least, he was able to withstand the shaking until it all stopped and the view of a large city came into his view, making him move back forward into the cockpit area to get a better view. It was nothing like a Saiyan city on Sadal... this was incredible in its own way! It was hard to peel his eyes from the unique design of the structures and how advanced it all looked. While being confined to such a small area, everything seemed incredible. The only thing that could pull his focus away was when Demalia had something to say to him, the Saiyan immediately looking off towards her. "It's incredible, I've never seen anything like this before. So this is what the Tuffles have come up with." he'd smile towards the Tuffle girl with genuine excitement as his eyes went back towards the structures that lay before him to view as they flew towards it.
The Tuffle hybrid beamed when she saw how impressed Rutaba was by the city. She couldn’t help but feel a bit of pride that someone born off world found their city impressive. Demalia looked out the window, pointing at the big structure as they moved closer to the city.
“That’s the Vegis Citadel. It's the heart and soul of Tuffle Civilization. It’s 5 miles high and houses our main research facilities, living spaces, our government… I cannot stress how important that place is. We build things up to avoid tearing up more land. I could spend all day talking about that place.”
Thankfully she didn't. Demalia zoned in on a skyscraper that was on a higher point of the crator, not too far from the citadel. She aimed the ship to go on top of it. If Rutaba looked out the window now, this is what he would see:
“Home sweet home. I feel like I’ve been away for years. So much has happened, you know?”
Demalia slowly decedended, the building at the far side opening up to allow the ship to enter. She made a smooth landing in what appeared to be a mix of a dock and a workshop. Demalia turned off the ship, eagerly going off to open the ramp.
It seemed Demalia had a lot to say about her home now that they arrived, which was only fueling the Peacekeeper's excitement as he looked on towards the massive citadel. Building upwards rather than outwards seemed very logical, but he had massive doubts that his people would be able to accommodate such a thing. It was absolutely amazing to see how well done it was here, however. He didn't have anything to really comment on it in the meantime, so he just nodded to her words and took note of how important such a place was. An attack that takes down the base of that structure would destroy so much progress.
Soon enough the ship went towards a building that looked very fancy. Was this where she lived? He smiled and looked at how beautiful the rooftop was, before just having his thoughts confirmed by a passing remark Demalia made. "Yeah a lot has happened, but we're finally here." with that said, Rutaba waited for Demalia to finish landing and turn everything off before departing himself alongside her. She seemed oh so very eager to show the Saiyan her home so he HAD to oblige. "Show me the way, Demalia, I'm ready to see what your home has to offer~" the Saiyan said this playfully, but to be honest he was more excited and boiling with anticipation. He was finally here with her after all that happened to arrive. Surely he had to be prepared for whatever was to happen. WC: 250 TWC: 1792
Rutaba would come out to an beautiful front yard. Although that wasn’t really fitting as something as grant as this. Trees lined the walls of the skyscraper, which seemed to be about 50 feet. There were two ponds, the water gently flowing underneath a bridge. There were plants that look taken care of all around the garden. The sun shined down on everything above. Demalia closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
“Mmmm…. The Sora’s are in bloom. It’s such a nice odor.”
Indeed, there was a faint sweet scent on the air. Sora’s were flowers that bloomed in many different colors, but the light blue ones were the most popular. They were orient flowers used in various decorations and designs. Demalia opened her eyes, brandishing her arm in a grand gesture to Rutaba.
“This is my front yard. My family has taken great care to make it as nice as possible. It’s a good place to relax without leaving the comfort of home. I I can even control the environment out here to an extent. Come on!”
Demalia bounded off towards the bridge, eager to show her boyfriend everything that she had to offer. This was an impressive set up to be sure. She wanted Rutaba to get familiar with her lifestyle and the way she lived. Plus she wanted to display all the accomplishments she had achieved.
With his eyes gliding along the scenery, the Peacekeeper relaxed himself to be far more casual about himself. While he was here accompanying his girlfriend on what was known as a mission, there was nothing to be on guard with here. It was just a magnificent backdrop that was made for something as relaxing as this. As the tuffle would follow up with saying, she didn't even have to leave home to experience this sort of beauty. It made sense to do something like this in such a technology-filled environment like this, it'd take too long to venture out and have an estate elsewhere to get away from it all. With the technology to do this in your very own home, why wouldn't you?
Everything set in for him as he'd snap back towards Demalia as she told him to come with her, making sure to keep a steady pace to follow her and stay close through it all. Even if his eyes wanted to latch onto this scenery even longer, he was sure he'd have time to see it again soon. There were far more things for him to experience and get used to with the intelligent girl he was with, so he'd have to see everything else first anyway, especially considering something he had gotten used to involving homes.
"I'm already getting some incredible vibes from this place, usually the front yard is the least involved and spectacular place of peoples homes on Sadal. I can't even imagine what I'm going to see once we get inside." the Saiyan would obviously be lying if he said he wasn't excited to see more about what his girlfriend's house was all about. But he'd try to keep it inside for now, so as to let the girl show him around in a more peaceful environment. For the time being, he just had to go along happily! WC: 316 TWC: 2108
“Actually, that was something I noticed. Why don’t the denizens of Sadal put more effort into the front of their homes? That’s the place that is going to be seen the most by passerby. So it would make sense to put your all into making that look as elaborate as possible.”
Demalia wasn’t an expert in aesthetics. Truth be told, this front yard along with most of the mansion had been set up by her parents. She kept and maintained all the hard work they had put into it.
It was relaxing coming out here though. It was a very nice place for her to clear her head. She came to appreciate the environment that it provided, even though it didn’t help her in her projects. It had given her a better scope of things. One could work on mechanical devices and still appreciate nature.
As she made her way to the front door, she sound of locks unfastening echoed from behind the doors of her mansion. Her security system recognized her, thus going through the unlocking protocols. They slowly opened inward, inviting the both of them into the glorious foyer. Demalia took a couple of steps forward before turning her body around. Smiling at her boyfriend, she stepped backward with a spring her step into her mansion.
“Welcome to Nanot Manor! Do you want me to give you the grand tour before or after we eat? You’re probably starving already after our trip.”
Her excitement could not be contained. She loved showing off and explaining exciting things to other people. Her families manor was a technological marvel. There was so much that she wanted to go over. First things first though, she had to make sure her boyfriend was settled in and comfortable before giving him the grant tour.
Demalia had quite an intriguing question to ask the Saiyan, which made him smile a bit as he realized they really did come from two vastly different societies. "I never thought of it that way. I suppose I can't quite say why we don't either. If I had to fashion a guess, it might be because of my people's stance on power. We don't put too much time into thinking of design choices, we just go with whatever looks okay and is easy to do, and of course, if it works up to par." Rutaba rested his hands on his hips in thought as he waited for the entrance of Demalia's place to open up, the sounds it made making him just stare forward in curiosity.
Once the doors opened up to the pair and allowed Rutaba to actually get a good look at the inside of Demalia's house, he was amazed that such a place was made for a single family. It was certainly far from what he knew of homes, seeing as all he knew was the equivalent of a small condo. He almost didn't know how to process all of it. For a moment he almost missed what Demalia was asking and was going to forget about answering altogether, but he'd catch himself and shake his head to get back on track. "You can do it before. I'm more interested in finishing the sightseeing. The reward of food waiting at the end is more symbolic for my stomach anyway." the Saiyan spoke with a very laid back attitude at this. It was sort of delivered more for comedic sake, as he was a Saiyan turning down the immediate promise of food. But he was by no means impatient, he could obviously see that Demalia was excited to show him around. With her joy at stake he had nothing more on his mind than to push on and see everything. WC: 322 TWC: 2430
Demalia looked down at the ground, stroking her chin with her fingers. She looked rather puzzled by what Rutaba had told her about Saiyans.
“If that’s the general approach that most Saiyans have, then you are all very impressive with your fundamentals. It’s one thing not to give too much thought to your hard, but if that line of thought extends to everything else, your engineers are nothing to scoff at. Aerodynamic aesthetics are an important part of design functionality after all.”
Demalia’s mind seemed to be whirling a million miles a second. It was easy for her to sometimes lose a bit of focus and shift the subject towards something technological. It was both a blessing and curse, but was typically the latter in social interactions.
He never did cease to amaze her sometimes. She gave Rutaba a small smile, walking beside him through the mansion.
“True, a meal is ever so much sweeter if you've earned it. I bet you're just thinking about it now and savoring the moment when its put on a plate in front of you.”
Demalia giggled, practically bounding towards the stairs and hopping up to the second level. She led Rutaba down another hallway, the sunlight shining in through multiple windows. Outside Rutaba would be able to see the garden and the skyscrapers around them.
