Omata "I must've come in on a pod, if i'm falling in love this much~"
|
Personality
Friendly and chatty - albeit flirty - Omata isn't afraid to greet people with a smile - and in some cases, a terrible pickup line she thought up herself. She's very openly bi, and thus anyone's fair game for terrible jokes and pickup lines as long as they're a consenting adult - though is more than happy to back off if someone's clearly uninterested, and get them a drink instead. She does seem to prefer women closer to her age more than anything though, as far as preferences go.
Otherwise, she's a cheery, confident, and go-getter soul - though she does know her limits - who likes socializing and making new friends wherever she goes. She's always willing to spar a bit, and is also down to protect those close to her if given the opportunity. She, additionally, seems to even take snark and sass in stride - and enjoys responding in kind in a playful manner if given the chance. She can prove to be a bit witty and clever in such cases, though still prefers making dumb jokes and the such for the laughs; it's all in good fun!
With all of this confidence though, Omata does hold her insecurities. Even if she is overall accepted by the general populace in Sadala - given that the days of Yama have long-since passed - she does still sometimes wonder what other people think of her and her family; those who are descended from Yama, without the status of being related to the now-king Aspar. She, additionally, sometimes wonders what it might mean for herself to be related to such a man.
In addition to this, she is somewhat selfconscious of her eyepatch - and what lays beneath it. She is rarely - if not never - seen with it off, and tends to grow defensive or otherwise antsy if people seem to be paying too much attention to it. She recognizes that it does draw attention, for obvious reasons, though she can never quite get used to it all. Similarly, she's a little selfconscious over her gloves - though is more willing to take them off to show the light scarring underneath.
As far as life goes though, Omata is secretly a romantic - and does dream of settling down with someone someday, be it a cute and pretty girl or a strong and gentle guy - or even vice versa! She'd like someone who can appreciate her pickup lines and jokes, or otherwise at least take them in stride, and someone who wouldn't judge her for her disfigurements. She also, like many other saiyans, strives to get stronger (and thus wouldn't mind a partner with similar values) - though otherwise doesn't mind a casual and soft life, if she thinks it's doable for herself.
Omata has interests in reading, stargazing, and socializing primarily - though she also likes sparring, practicing new crafts, and occasional cooking. She doesn't like wearing overly girly outfits like dresses or skirts, and tends to prefer just wearing a basic shirt and pants - though otherwise doesn't mind wearing jewelry like necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. She dislikes heavy rain, wasps, hornets, and spiders, but otherwise has a fascination with insects, and likes to watch them sometimes.

Backstory
Omata was born an only child in mid-1566, to her mother - a huntress named Ruta - and her father, Onio, whom was the son of the late king Yama and a member of the Saiyan Defense Force. This heritage would make her the niece to Aspar Kyuri, and the older cousin to their children - including Solana; though in not being related to Aspar, she was not royalty. Instead, in having been born after Yama's death and shift in power, Omata would grow up in a rather simple and standard household for most Saiyan families at that time - her father providing zeni for the family in his work, and her mother oftentimes hunting meals for them.
Her family, generally, was a content one - though for a time in her youth Omata dealt with discrimination from other saiyans for her being descended from Yama, as did her father and mother. Though Kyuri and Aspar had since come to marry, some bad feelings ran deep still - and it was only until Omata was a teenager that she would find her and her family becoming more well-accepted for who they were, as Yama's actions became less present in everyones' memories. Even now though, Omata does still deal with some lingering feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty regarding her heritage as a result of some of this discrimination.
Overall though, much of Omata's youth was spent training and practicing with her parents when they were not out working - and even then, her mother would occasionally bring Omata with on hunts, and her father always had tales to tell of his work in the Defense Force. She, in particular, would take after her father's jovial attitude in life - picking up on much of it and being taught his more in-your-face fighting style. However, Omata was also encouraged to keep a sharp wit and be thoughtful by her mother, too - learning a few more guerilla or otherwise utilitarian tricks that she could use in the field.
It was during one hunting trip gone south though, that Omata would gain her scars - a particularly vicious beast catching them by surprise. Omata tried to fight the beast without her mother's assistance at first, but found herself overwhelmed - taking a few vicious attacks until her mother managed to step in. The attack left much of Omata's right side of her face scarred, as well as her forearms being scarred from her trying to protect herself before her mother could step in. In the aftermath, her right eye was rendered irreparably useless - and for a time, left Omata with a fear of leaving the city walls, and her mother feeling deep regret for what she felt was her fault, and the result of her negligence.
It took some time before Omata would regain the confidence to leave on further hunts with her mother - having a newfound awareness of her own limits as a result of the experience, though feeling self-conscious over the scars for how they affected her appearance, and them being a result of her own mistakes. She does not hold any hard feelings towards her mother for the experience - though is still sometimes haunted by the memories, on a rare occasion.
At the age of 18, Omata would move out and find a place of her own - for a time, bunking with friends and the such until she got together the zeni to do so, from doing hunts like her mother had taught and selling the catches. In the passing years, Omata has debated between joining the defense force or going out on her own into the open wide world - though for now is content sticking on Sadala, doing odd jobs and hunts for zeni - and occasionally stopping by the bars for a drink with friends, or to flirt with whoever catches her eye.
