Takonya was considered something of a massive nerd amongst nerds in neko majin society, a notorious collector of trivia on both the martial arts and its practisioners from ages past he'd often been teased for his obscure knowledge of the renown turtle and crane hermit schools antiquated training techniques, chief amongst them the turtle style's stone hunt training in which the master would fling a signed stone with all their strength out into the world for his students to find, an exercise that taught one to utilize ones own powers of observation and patience whilst empathizing speed as it was often a race between pupils to recover the stone lest they be deprived of dinner.
That last part had always confused him, how could inciting competition between students lead to anything other than an escelation of petty acts between the should be comrades in arms? but that was a pondering for another time, right now he needed to focus on the task he had at hand, namely, dangling over the river and searching for a just right stone for his recreation of the ancient and well revered training technique, he needed one that was neither too heavy, nor too light to travel as far as it needed too, it would hardly be training if it were to remain in the same region as him surely.
That and his own finicky requirements were complicating the matter more than it needed to be, for he also saught a nicely rounded spherical stone, the kind that would make a nice trophy amongst his nick nacks by which to remember his training and the lessons it would no doubt impart upon him, the thought of a uneven stone holding such an important place was simply horrifying to him for whatever reason; enough that he'd spent over an hour dangling by his tail from a branch over the river scouring its bed for such a stone, worn smooth by the flowing waters and shaped by the world for its glorious task.
After what felt like a few eternities in neko majin time Takonya finally caught a glimmer of a perfect stone for the task of being his hunting prize, a smooth, flat matte black piece of stone that had by virtue of its great weight sunk beneath its lighter grey counterparts and into the very silt and sand that made up the riverbed. mitten clad hand darting into the water and back out again as quickly as it could to obtain his prize he allowed himself a moment to admire it.
so smooth and shiny! it was almost a shame to throw it away in his training...even if he would no doubt soon retrieve it again and value it even more for the sentimental attachment to his quest to become a hero that the world needed in light of the terrible darkness that was begining to bare down upon it.
he even fantasized that one day, should he have students of his own he would present it to them for use in their own stone hunt like a proud father handing down a family heirloom, but that was a little to far away for him right now before he'd even increased his fighting power above his natural power level of 800, by no means inconsiderable but far from heroic.
so righting himself with a graceful acrobatic flip of his stumpy little body and balancing himself carefully upon the bough of the ancient tree he'd taken up
temporary residence in both to enjoy the tranqulity of the park and the convinience of the city (and the hotdog stand that would often park itself beneath his favourite branch) he began to wind up.
spining his arm as fast as he could, leaning back with one leg stuck out in the direction he intended to let his stone fly in as his tongue stuck out from the corner of his mouth in sheer concentrated effort he made his move, slamming his raised foot down onto the branch and tilting his body forwards he flung his soon to be prized possesion with all of his might, sending the just short of perfectly round riverrock whistling through the air and Crashing through one or two windows on its majestic quest to the horizon and beyond.
"Oops...nyahaha..." scratching the back of his neck in embarressment at his own shortsightedness for flinging a stone within the busy confines of satan city was a little foolish he had to admit but mistakes were all a part of learning right?
deciding discretion was the better part of valor he simply opted to shapeshift himself into a squirrel and descreetly as possible skitter down the trunk of his home tree and across the grasst fields of the park to another both to escape notice for his accidental property damage and putdur the stone from a diffrent angle.
once he was satisfied that nobody would suspect him of throwing the stone considering his emergence from a completely diffrent tree at an awkward angle from the flight path he emerged, light pink aura ablaze around him as he streamed through the sky like a kittenish comet surging across the skyline in pursuit of his thrown stone, he knew in his heart of hearts that he had little chance of finding the stone today so allowed his attention to wander to the city below him, watching as innocent people went about their daily lives wanting only peace and happiness.
takonya felt his resolve harden evermore against the tide of darkness attempting to sweep over and swallow the world and all its people seeing this, knowing that in his heart of hearts the red ribbon forces would see it destroyed and the way of life that he and the other nekomajin so enjoyed would be lost, replaced with tragic servitude to the corporations and worship of the zeni beneath the rule of the callous beings at the horrific organizations head.
"not if I have anything to say about it!" he said allowed to himself as he streamed through the sky and towards the pale orange light of the setting sun on the horizon, but first he had other things to do, his paltry powerlevel would do him little good in the face of the formidable red ribbon forces and even if he were a thousand times stronger he would still need allies to join him in the struggle against its tyrannical amd soul crushing oppression.
he would need to become a hero and not just that but one of many, to stand fast against the rushing waves of darkness, arm in arm like a wall of brilliant light!
But first he needed to find that darn stone.
