Maikeru's PL is lowered to 18,000 due to the Heavy Weighted Clothing.
A flash of light cascaded down from the sky. It was as if a ray of physical sunlight pierced the clouds and landed upon the turquoise grass of the upper world planet. When the light faded, all that stood there was Whis and Maikeru. The young Shinjin filled his nostrils with a heavy sigh. As he breathed out he could feel the weight of his stress return. No longer did he have to put on a face of strength for the mortals. All of the dismay he had experienced on Brench Maikeru had thrown to the back of his mind to deal with at a later time.
Now was that later time.
All of that pain and devastation that he witnessed on Brench came flooding back into his heart, mind and soul. The Northern Kaioshin threw his hands forward as he fell to his knees. His blue-skinned hands caught himself before Maikeru's face was buried into the grassy field. He could feel his fingertips grasp handfuls of grass blades in his clenched fists. The Shinjin could feel a great sadness well up inside of him. Not only had a planet of innocent civilians been subjugated, killed or enslaved; but everything Maikeru had done to try to save the situation only made everything worse.
And all of that pain of the mortal world felt like a lifetime away from all of this untouched peace that filled the upper worlds. Maikeru had gone from been neck deep in mortal traumas to completely disconnected from it. It felt like a dream; but the Northern Kaioshin could not tell which was the truth. Did he experience a nightmare to wake up back in Heaven? Or had he gone back to sleep after experiencing the horrid truth of the universe?
Maikeru could predict that Whis had words for him.
"I just don't know how you do it, Whis," Maikeru asked out loud without looking at the angel standing near him. "You act so...disconnected...from all of it. I can understand Lagerus being the way she is. Her purpose is to destroy. It's in her nature to be emotionally distant. But you?"
Maikeru lifted himself back and sat down while looking upward.
"Lagerus probably wants me to do nothing but drink tea all day. Just play my part and shut up," the Northern Kaioshin continued. "But I can't do that. I can't just sit back and do nothing at all. I don't even understand how so many Shinjin before could even stomach being so passive when..."
Maikeru could feel his heart start to race as his emotions swelled up.
"...when all the mortals do is hurt each other. But every time I tried to help them they lashed back at me. I just don't understand."
As the beam of light touched down on the sacred world of the Kai's, Whis would appear with Maikeru who promptly fell to the grass on all fours. Whis however remained standing, glancing down to the Kaioshin that had fallen without so much as a concerned look on his face.
"all that travel sure has built up quite an appetite. It's a good thing I packed a lunch." He said during Maikeru's silence, moving his staff by his hand and instantly summoning a boxed lunch he had in face prepared for himself and Lagerus earlier that morning. He moved back a small distance from Maikeru and set up his lunch on the ground, using it's cover as a small picnic blanket. Just as he had finally un boxed his lunch Maikeru glanced over to Whis, asking him how he could take all of this when it seemed Maikeru just couldn't.
"I'm not a God of Creation, nor a God of Destruction. I have no feelings towards the mortal realm one way or another. My duty and purpose is solely to watch over my Lord, Lagerus now that Beerus has been killed." Whis said calmly, retrieving his chop sticks and picking up a strange purple morsel from his dish. He brought it to his lips and smiled brightly, hmmm'ing in delight at the flavor of his dish.
"The mortal realm is a strange one. They will always fight one another, always seek dominance over each other until one day, one of them attempts to claim the power of the Gods. It's only happened a hand full of times and is very rare. Honestly, I think the mortal realm may just be a testing ground for new gods, if you think about it." He continued as if that was no big news at all, taking another bite, and another, and a third. It was just too delicious to stop! He had too however, as he still had Maikeru to address.
"I think you misunderstand Lord Lagerus' intentions on Planet Saiya. Lord Beerus vanished when the last Northern Kaioshin was destroyed by that new Shinjin... what was his name again... oh yes Jarvis. I believe my Lord is simply ensuring her own safety by keeping you safe." He explained, finally putting his chopsticks down as his massive meal seemed to of have... disappeared all of a sudden. Whis brought a small napkin up to his lips before picking up his empty dish and making it vanish into thin air once more.
Maikeru continued to listen to the angel. He could not care less of the delectable scents the angel's food gave off in the slight breeze. Dining at a time like this; when the mortals have taken such advantage of the Northern Kaioshin's empathy. Whis' words pierced through the Shinjin's sadness. For the first time in his short life as the Northern Kaioshin; Maikeru felt an emotion swell up inside of him that he had yet to experience.
Rage.
"You cannot be serious?!" Maikeru's weary eyes turn towards Whis. "That cannot possibly be true! I was born to bear the burdens of my predecessors' mistakes. My intended purpose of nursing this ill universe back to health. A universe that have demons free to corrupt whoever and whatever they wish or tyrants conquer planets and kill on a whim. A universe that allows violence to reign supreme on every planet."
Maikeru began to pull himself back onto his feet.
"And you REALLY believe that? That barbarians like them are worthy enough to not only bear such a responsibility; but to replace us? You, me, even Lagerus; replaced by deviants like Nasu? LIKE NASU?! If the universe was left to people like him to care for it, the entire creation would fall apart in a matter of days."
Maikeru sighed, letting out a breath to try and regain his composure. For a brief second his mind scolded himself to try and "act appropriately"; to remember who he was talking to. But Maikeru had to drive through that pre-programmed fear built into every divine creature. The kaioshin, god of destruction and the angel attendant were a team. Maikeru realized that if could not speak freely with either Lagerus or Whis, it would mean that he was truly lesser than them. And if Creation was lesser to Destruction, then it was a true sign of this universe being doomed.
Maikeru looked Whis sternly as the angel cleaned his face of the entree.
"I realized the truth of the matter now. All I am to you and "Lord" Lagerus is a nuisance...a WEAKNESS. One that should be kept far away and silent. You can't hear the voice of reason if you are never around, right?....Please, don't try to confuse Lagerus' selfish fear of dying with "caring for me". If that were true, she would not be so quick to browbeat and insult me at every interaction."
Maikeru could feel his lips tighten.
"And now you suggest that I have to sit here and wait in this heavenly prison for my eventual replacement? That all the hope and responsibility that I carry would just be snuffed out by whichever mortal managed to kill their way to the top?"
"You cannot guide your portals if you are dead, Northern Kai. There is no future to create without you. There are ways to interfere with the mortal realm without directly involving yourself. You may desire to be more involved with those of the living realm but you must not forget that a Supreme Kai's duty is to Oversee, from a distance. This isn't a rule that I've decided, it has been proclaimed by the god of everything, as you should know.
Now. I do believe that the Grand Supreme Kai has made this new bond available to the Supreme Kais? You can all take on a guardian I believe? someone to be your hand in the living realm in your stead I believe? Perhaps this is something you should look into more thoroughly." Whis was still just as calm as ever, even as Maikeru grew angry with him and his words. The angel simply spoke his mind, explained how it was that he saw things and how the universe needed to be for proper balance to be maintained. Yes, destruction was overshadowing creation right now, but in due time Creation would rise from the ashes of destruction and start anew. this was most likely another reason Lord Lagerus had been so frustrated since waking up... there were so many in the universe destroying worlds in her stead that she had very little she could destroy until she threatened the universes very existence. Thankfully Lord Lagerus seemed to have more control than Lord Beerus.
"Now now. I never said that mortals obtaining the power of gods would replace anyone. even if this Nasu fellow did obtain the power of a Super Saiyan God, that wouldn't make him a god of creation or a god of destruction. It would simply give him the powers of a god. He will not live longer, he will not become immortal. Godhood is something that these mortals can only taste, and never fully embrace. I see no harm in letting them play with these powers. Even as fast as they grow, Lord Lagerus' power is limitless, as you know, and she would be glad to keep them from destroying the balance of Universe 7."
Whis' words struck a cord within the Northern Kaioshin. The idea of having a guardian reminded him of a cold truth. He could feel his frustrations slowly become dashed aside. Anger quickly transformed into sadness for the young Shinjin. Maikeru began to rein back in his emotions but this last day or so among the mortals left him feeling raw and exposed.
"I..I apologize for my outburst," Maikeru's eyes shifted away in embarrassment. "Honestly, Whis, I know it is not your fault or Lagerus'. If this whole crisis on Brench has taught me anything is that it showed me how powerless I truly am..." His head sank down as his eyes wandered. Maikeru felt too shameful to even look the angel in the eye.
"Powerless and alone," the young Shinjin continued. "Ever since my birth from the tree I have been by myself." The Northern Kaioshin gestured to the vacant world around them. "There's no one here. I am stuck in a paradise of one with no guidance and no support. I know you and Lagerus, the Grand Kaioshin and the others, everyone has a role or purpose but...no one is here."
"The Grand Kaioshin is missing. The other Kaioshins haven't even made an appearance. I don't even feel their presence anywhere. And you and Lagerus are, no offense, off enjoying the sweets of the mortal worlds. I am literally alone here having to watch over every quadrant by myself. And, when something goes horribly wrong like Brench, I don't even have the strength to do anything about it. The Saiyans overwhelmed me with such rage and death it was sickening. And all of that pain.....was for nothing. The Brenchians are now crushed and enslaved to those Saiyans and their King."
The Northern Kaioshin paused for a moment.
"Yes, I understand that Lagerus is now teaching that Saiyan King a lesson," Maikeru admitted. "But it won't bring the innocent lives Nasu and his armies killed back to life. It doesn't make their viciousness okay."
"And, despite the physical and mental torture I endured on and off the battlefield," the Northern Kaioshin added as small tears began to well in his eyes. "I was okay with dying. A wave of calm tranquility came over me as a stepped closer and closer to death. For once in my short life I had the strength to do something, to prevent any further loss of life. I had a CHOICE. Those mortals with their accusations and their constant attacks and belittling of me...I just...."
Maikeru's mind became scattered with emotion. He finally started to come to grips that he was okay with suicide in order to protect the mortals from themselves. That maybe seeing a god die would shake them free from their overwhelming desires of power.
"I...I don't know what to say, Whis. I actually felt replaceable. If I died the tree would just make another Kaioshin. Maybe someone who would be more in line with the plan. More submissive, more passive than myself. I just wanted to make an actual difference unlike my predecessors. Sometimes I honestly wonder if I am really meant for this role."
Maikeru's eyes widened as he looked back at Whis.
"Don't get me wrong," the Northern Kaioshin tried to explain. "I understand that being a Kaioshin is a great honor. But I just feel like I am a good fit for this. So many people out there in pain and misery in mortal hell and I am supposed to just sit back here in paradise? I want to go out there and make a real difference. To inspire hope and guide them."
"Those Saiyans, so many of them are lost in their own traumas that they have become blinded. For a moment I even thought of becoming a mortal. That if I could prove them wrong, that it didn't matter if you were a god or a mortal, hope and goodness can truly thrive. I--I..."
Maikeru deflated once more.
"....Maybe I got this all wrong, Whis. Maybe for once the tree grew a bad fruit..." ___________________
Whis let out a sigh as he listened to the young Kai talk about being alone. Honestly, for a Kai there was still so much he didn't understand, and of course that had to do with his age. He was young, extremely young, and felt the weight of the universe was on his shoulders. It was a heavy burden to bear, but one he wasn't bearing alone but didn't seem to understand that.
"Maikeru. You still have a lot to learn, you've only just be born, technically. There is a lot you can't do just yet, and you shouldn't force it. You may feel alone but the other Kaioshin are there. You might not sense them but I do, and the Grand Kaioshin does as well. They do not interfere directly because they shouldn't. You are a deity, it may seem petty now to stay here and look over the universe from a safe distance, but that sadly is the reality of a Kaioshin. You are gods of creation, you help maintain balance in the universe by creating. there will always be destruction and chaos in the universe, you will not be able to stop it no matter how hard you try. That is all apart of the balance of the universe.
If you call out to your fellow Kai's, I'm sure they will answer. You might not know why, but Mar had his reasons to not interfere with the invasion of Brench. What happened down there, while bloody and cruel, is the natural progression of life. Now, I want you to focus on getting a Guardian, someone who can be with you while you grow and learn. If you must, ask Mar if his would train you. She might not know much in the ways of a Kai but she is powerful." Whis offered, tapping his staff down on the ground at his feet. He couldn't stay here and continue to talk down Maikeru after the events of today. He needed to return to lord Lagerus... who knows what kind of trouble she was getting herself into.
"I must go now, Supreme North Kai, but remember our talk, do not be so hard on yourself you still have a lot of room to grow"
Maikeru listened carefully as Whis' words rung through the air. The angel was trying his best to console and advise the kaioshin through his inner turmoil. Maikeru knew his council made sense on a few levels. The Northern Kaioshin's purpose was to create the life of the universe, no matter what fate was in store for his creations. Maikeru needed to learn the fact quickly if he was going to keep his sanity as a God of Creation. The young Shinjin felt deflated at the idea of creating children just to watch them march to their deaths.
Within a few moments, Whis began to excuse himself. He was gone far too long from Lord Lagerus' side. The two of them could sense the God of Destruction's power all the way from Other World. Whatever she was up to it was quickly getting out of hand. It was Whis' job to ensure Lagerus continued to toe the line just as he did with Maikeru. If Maikeru and Lagerus were the workers of this universe, Whis was their foreman to make sure they were working as planned.
As a soaring beam of light Whis disappeared from the Sacred World leaving Maikeru alone once again.
Still, one phrase stuck with the young Shinjin that Whis said.
"...you will not be able to stop it no matter how hard you try. That is all apart of the balance of the universe..."
Maikeru could feel his fist clench. His dismay and sorrow quickly burned away in his heart by a reignited flame of willpower. The Northern Kaioshin felt his body tremble with fierce determination he had never felt before. Maikeru did not want his hopes of a peaceful universe be dashed away. He remembered the faces of every mortal he had encountered so far. The thought of just allowing every mortal to live just to be destroyed was something he did not want to bear. The Shinjin's eyes narrowed as a new quest wrote itself in his mind.
"If I am a God of Creation, then how about I create a new path for this universe?"
