11:00 PM. The time when most Onis were either taking the night shift, or fast asleep. Time was a confusing thing in Otherworld since there wasn't really a day or night, but everyone needed sleep, right? No. Sleep was for the WEAK. Why would Sakana waste her time with her eyes closed when she could be training?! The fish-creature had recently come home from an overtime shift at work- she had to help a rather... unique... soul adapt into Hell. Nobody liked it when they were sent there. She was getting tired of dragging the small souls along- it was so much more fun showing them the joys of the upper worlds and how it was complete paradise. The souls always enjoyed it in the clouds, making her job much easier.
Sakana lived in a section for the worker Onis like her in the upper worlds. The sea of yellow clouds surrounded the ar, as usual. This area was a lot nicer than the place where most of the damned roamed. Walking into her home, the Oni kicked off her red and yellow boots at the entrance of her abode, making sure to close and lock the door behind her. Looking at the clock on her wall, she noted the time- roughly eleven o' clock. How long could she stay up today without falling asleep on the floor? She was curious. She had a bad habit of staying up far too late to train and goof off. She had slowly been building up an endurance to it, every night it took longer for her to flop down on her bed. She could easily stay up twenty-four hours without fatigue now.
The blue and red fish Oni slid down the banister by the stairs leading to her basement. Downstairs was a hallway with three rooms, one door in front of her and two others on her left and right. The right room was her laundry room while the one on the left was her cellar. The front, of course, was her personal gym. She had saved up a couple thousand bucks just to pay for everything in there, and even still she longed to have a proper gravity machine in there. Walking inside the gymnasium, the aquatic Oni was met with the familiar sight of the large room. It was big- big enough for her voice to echo around the room's faded red walls. The walls had some dents here and there from her spears, but it had all been covered up with paint. Cans of red paint were sitting near one of the walls- Sakana had forgot to put them away after covering up the dents from last night's training. The floor near her was wooden, but there was an elevated area in the back of the room covered with red carpeting. Several weight machines were placed against the wall, along with some other miscellaneous machinery pressed against the other walls. Training dummies were neatly placed on the carpeted zone, and there were some equipment for gymnastics, like bars, vaults, rings, balance beams, and even a large trampoline. She went all out with a giant foam pit on the right side of the room for the kiddies she sometimes let inside her home. She had a soft spot for tykes, and most of them loved the pit full of foamy cubes, spheres, and decahedrons... Honestly, she would be lying if she said she didn't jump in there once or twice. Needless to say, she had spent a fortune on this place. Now she was flat-broke with only five hundred bucks in her wallet.
[A2] SONIC SPEAR FLARE AND
[B1] BASIC KI SPEAR PROFICIENCY UPGRADE BEGIN
Well, it was time to get started. Brushing her hands together as she strutted into her gym, the Oni quickly hopped up onto the carpeted area and jogged to a box, pulling some red and white targets of various sizes out of it. The targets were worn and the paint was chipped in certain places from being hit with her spears so much. A few tiny holes from the tips of her javelins were scattered across the targets. She flew over to the wall and hooked up the targets onto some hooks on the wall before running back to her position and summoning her signature spear. The spear itself was completely made of Ki, bright cyan in color. She spun the javelin around a little before pointing it forwards, focusing her ki into her hands. Her palms let out a few crackles of Ki as she then conducted the flow of energy into the tip of her spear, causing a ball of energy to form by the head of the lance. The spear shook a little asa chunk of the ball of ki flew off towards the target After one blow Sakana raised her javelin and initiated the rapid-fire function of her signature Spear Flare attack. Small spherical energy blasts flew at blinding speeds towards the targets, landing with a dull thunk against the steel surfaces of the red and white targets. When the dust from the initial blows faded some burnt marks could be seen around the targets' centers, some shots just barely missing the bullseye.
Sakana let out a sigh and flopped onto her back. This was too easy. What could she do to make this harder for herself so she could get better at this spear thing? She had already perfected targeting and throwing her javelins long ago, since she had been training with them her entire life ever since her parents first taught her how to use her ki and spears, then she just combined the two to create the tools she used today. Well, maybe she could try doing it with her eyes closed? Yeah, maybe that could world. She could not sense the ki of an inanimate object, since they didn't have any Ki to begin with. Closing her eyes, the blue Oni pointed her spear forward and fired blindly at where she thought the targets would be. A few booms echoed throughout the room, and when Sakana opened her eyes, she threw her hands up in frustration with a growl. Bullseyes again! How was she supposed to get any better at this?! Taking one more shot in her frustration, the Oni charged up all the energy she could in her spear as it let out a radiant glow. A large beam flew from the spear for a moment, completely vaporizing the targets she had placed.down the room. Surprised, Sakana raised her head as she looked at her work. Well, she always seemed to get little boosts of power when she got mad... Raising her javelin once more to try the tactic out again, She put all of her energy into the tip of her spear, this time launching a large ball of energy that sent her flying back and dented the wall. She laughed and smiled a little at her newly mastered technique, but quickly shook her head and moved onto the next tactic. Time to practice hand-to hand combat.
Dashing over to a dummy, the Oni sighed. She had spent all of her money on equipment, so all she had was an immobile dummy to slice at. She always wanted some cool robot to shoot at, but noooooo. Money was a thing. And Economics! All of that was boring and frustrating. She was pulling out her hair the first time she had to do taxes. Now she was flat broke and this was all she could afford. Nonetheless, Sakana got right to it. She summoned two of her spears in both hands, slashing at the dummy. Gashes appeared in it's fabric body as soon as the spear touched it. Well, it was good to see her combo attacks weren't rusty. But it was time to try something new. Sakana summoned a few spears in the air, letting the javelins float above her as she tried to think of some way to improve her skills. Deciding to try something Skaana focused her energy onto a spot on the floor, creating a small cyan disc on the floor. She raised her hand up, causing a spear to fly out of the ground. Smiling again, the Oni began to test out this trick a little more.
She tried making some spots on the ceiling, smiling as spears flew out of those hole and landed on the ground in front of her. Oh, this was fun. She could make portals on her own, and it seemed like that knowledge was really helping here with these little spear pitfall traps. Summoning her spears back to her side once more, Sakana stretched as she walked back to her starting point on the mat.

[V1] TESLA WHIP UPGRADE BEGIN
Next up was her powerful Tesla Whip. The technique was mainly used for snagging opponents that tried to flee her- if someone picked a fight with Sakana, they WERE doing to finish it. But it was time to give the whip a little upgrade... But how could she put a twist on it? Hm... Well, it would come to her later. She had to practice! Raising her hand, the Blue Oni focused on a training dummy on the other side of the room as her hand crackled with electricity. She let out a fierce roar as she threw her hand forward, the small sphere on her hand extending out like a whip. However it stopped just a few inches short of the dummy, causing the whip to sling back and send Sakana flying after it grappled onto one of her gymnastic bars. After swinging a little, dizzied by the sudden movement, Sakana shook her head as her senses came back to her. That did NOT go as planned. But looking up as the whip was still attached to the bar... Well, she had an idea.
Retracting the whip and crouching as she landed on the ground, Sakana looked up at some of the higher bars nearby. Who said she could just use this as a whip? Maybe she could also use it as a grappling hook! The possibilities were endless! A smile crept across her face as she once again extended the whip forward, latching onto a bar and pulling herself towards it, swinging her body to send herself flying towards the next bar. She summoned another whip in her other hand and attached it to a light fixture on the ceiling, pulling herself up there. She couldn't help but to laugh. This was actually fun! She hung upside down, her feet planted against the light her whip was attached onto. But range was still a problem, her whip could only extend so far. She grew a little frustrated, chucking a spear at a dummy in frustration. The javelin struck the fabric dummy hard as some cotton leaked out of the cut. Geez, if only she could just bring that thing to her now-
Oh. OH. Sakana the GENIUS struck again! She smiled as an idea came to her head. If she couldn't bring the dummy to her with her whip, then she would bring it here with her spears! She dematerialized the spear attached to the dummy, thinking to herself as she formed a much larger spear in her arms. This was more of a harpoon than a spear, judging by the size of the cyan energy. Squinting a little, she threw the ki lance at the dummy, striking it once again. But now she held out her hand as a chain extended from the harpoon and into her grasp. Oh, this was perfect. She quickly pulled back the chain, the dummy being pulled right up near Sakana as she sat on the ceiling light. Harpoons were awesome! Why had't she thought of this before? She let out a quick huff, gathering her breath. That took a lot of energy. Between the large harpoon itself and the long chain, well, she wasn't sure which one costed her more energy.

[S1] SUBSPACE WARP UPGRADE BEGIN
Sakana sat down on a rather low balance beam, deciding to try something new. She had heard of some Onis being able to travel to the mortal world with their warps. Could... Could she do that? COULD she finally take a vacation from this dull place and try to find some excitement and new purpose in her life?... Maybe. Even so, the slim chance this might work was enough to keep her going! Holding out her arms, the Oni's body radiated a black glow, her eye colors inverting, leaving her one eye black with a white pupil. Blue lightning crackled around her as she held out her webbed hands, gathering energy in them. SHe didn't pay attention to the crackling of the thunder around her, since the Oni's focus was already determined to get the heck out of here. Her ponytail flew up as a ring-shaped blast flew from her hands, floating a few feet forward before the middle was filled with what looked like the void of space. But that was how the warp usually looked- hence the name, subspace warp. She wished she could be taken to space, but that was far from her for now. Gritting her teeth as she intensified the portal, causing some small objects to start drifting over to the center of gravity, she let out a shrill battle cry as she launched another pulse of energy at the ring, causing it to ripple for a moment before the portal dematerialized. Crap. Sakana put her hands on her knees as she sat and caught her breath. Portals always took LOADS of energy to make, and increasing the distance to a whole different dimension was not easy. Maybe she should start smaller? Maybe warping somewhere farther, like the check-in station in the Upper Worlds would do.
So she wouldn't get to travel to the realm of the mortals just yet. Bummer. Otherworld was boring, and Sakana wanted a well-deserved vacation. Did they even get vacation days? If they did, she probably had tons- the Oni had not skipped a single day of her work as a Hell Attendant. But she had to focus back on trying to warp to the check-in station. Her eyes once again inverted in color, and the Oni held out her arms as her palms let out a black aura. She closed her eyes, trying to remember every little detail of the station where their king lived. There was that giant mahogany desk, the always expanding line of souls outside, and the vast sea of bright yellow clouds surrounding the tall mansion... Her sharp teeth bared subconsciously, and her ponytail flew up as her body radiated with aura once again. Firing the first ring, Sakana opened her eyes to see the portal rippling a purple color, and the image of a path outside of the check-in station fading in and out. She was almost there! Sakana managed to gather up every last bit of conserved energy in her body, letting the ki flow into her hands before firing out a second ring of energy at the portal. It rippled violently before calming down, the image of the station clear now. She could see her reflection in the portal as she panted from the effort put into the attack. There it was. A literal gateway to heaven. What the souls down here would do to see this... She stood up and walked near the portal, her vision blurred from her little stamina left. Well, she made this portal, she wasn't just gonna stand here and let it go to waste now, would she? There were probably some souls she had to help integrate as well. Taking a step forward, the Oni let her body fall through the void before landing on the hard ground in front of the familiar residence of King Yemma.
Sakna could see some souls floating inside from where she stood as her senses and stamina slowly returned. Some Onis were headed inside as well- was it morning already? Well then- time to go back to her job. Straightening her back, the fish-creature turned around and began to head to the gateway to Hell to do her usual duties as an attendant. Who knew, maybe there would be some new folks to entertain her today? Sakna could see some souls floating inside from where she stood as her senses and stamina slowly returned. No Onis were headed inside... It must still be pretty late then. The baggy eyes blue Attendant yawned, deciding it was finally time to get some shut eye as she tuners around and began to head back to her home. Who knew, maybe she's meet some new souls today?
[S1] SUBSPACE WARP UPGRADED TO [S2] TEMPORAL WARP
UPGRADE WORD COUNT: 690
TOTAL WORD COUNT: 3142
[S2] TEMPORAL WARP: An upgraded form of the subspace warp. Allows for planetary travel instead of regional, but it cannot allow Sakana to hop from planet to planet- she still needs a spaceship for that. She can now take more people along with her through these portals, as long as it's not to or from Otherworld with the finalized [M3] Dimensional Warp.
[A2] ADVANCED KI SPEAR DEXTERITY: She can now summon and launch many of her spears in the air. They can also rise out of the ground, walls, ceiling, or any other surface that can catch the Oni's eye. Summoning spears from the ground drains stamina, but she can summon two spears and continually use them without loosing stamina- but like the previous version, she cannot gain stamina or use other techniques without dispelling her spears. Summoning spears normally does not drain the initial two stamina used for the technique.
[M3] LIGHTNING SPEAR FLARE: The strongest form of the Spear Flare. It fires large instantaneous beams that can be continually fired and pointed around from the spear. It can also fire larger spheres of energy. The beams are continuous and the spheres are fired one at a time. Rapid fire is exchanged for raw power.
[V2] HARPOON FLUX: A cyan harpoon is thrown at an opponent. It looks like one of Sakana's average spears, that is, until one of them hits their target. At which point, rather than just damaging them, her whip, which now materializes as a chain, appears between the harpoon and her hand, and she pulls the target towards her. Yikes. This also will immobilize the foe for one turn, allowing her to drag them over and proceed with her next move. She wields her harpoons sparingly; Sakana tends to ambush her enemy or wait until they’re worn out before using them. She can also use it passively without using Stamina as some kind of grappling hook.
