29/06/18 We have an updated Beginner's Guide for New Members! Please browse through it to get a feel for our systems before diving in! It is here. 22/04/19 Brand new site skin, what what!!
Shiro awoke from her slumber early in the morning. She had to wake up 3 hours before the sun rose so she could tend to her fields. She wasn't much of a social person, in fact, she hadn't seen a person that wasn't a demon for the past 6 months and that was okay! Did her own thing and no one bothered her. In the dense forest that she resided in and made her own territory was filled with tall trees, big shrubs, mushrooms, and other flora that she knew every inch of, she's been living here for the past 15 or so years now, of course, she'd know!
In the center of the dense forest was a circle with a radius of about half a kilometer that no tree grew in, within the circle was a medium sized wooden house and the rest of the land there would be grass or a planting field. This is where she lived. No one bothered her here, and for a fact, there were dangerous animals in the forest, no one would even dare come to bother her in the first place. Though there would be some rumors of a tall beast in the center of the forest waiting to kill those who come in.
"Oh, It's a good day today!" Shiro could feel the humidity to be just right for training, she needed to tend to her farm first before anything though. The sun hadn't rose yet and it was still pitch black outside, but she could see. It was pretty easy after 15 years of so living here. She plowed the fields, killed any pests, fertilized the soil and either harvested or planet more food. She had more than enough at this point, and she was debating weather to expand her territory and make a business out of this, the people outside of this forest might need food after all.
Shiro wasn't dressed in much either, just a black leotard that still was sort of see-through. She was covered in dirt and mud and her hair was tied up into a bun showing the scars around her cheeks that usually were hidden. In fact, her entire body was pretty scarred she had a lot of scars on her arms and on her hands, these were wounds from battling demons for food, up until 2 years ago she had been only eating vegetables and fruits, sometimes grains but now she had meat on the table and she will not let it go!
"You know, one would assume with how industrialized parts of the planet are, there would be less foliage, but I've been walking for hours now."
The metalman had been walking through the dense forest for what felt like days to him, but he was sure that the lights he saw pass overhead were just vehicles flying overhead. Either way the metalman continued forwards, his eyes acting as flashlights to reveal the way forwards. It was his fault after all for thinking it was a great idea to head into the forest without a route or anything from the capital.
In the distance however he thought he could make out a clearing, perhaps there was something of interest there. Taking one step at a time forwards, not concerned about making too much noise or anything. Volta was far too curious about what could be before him. His small, yet bulky form would emerge through the trees to the clearing, taking care not to obstruct or damage any plants in his way.
It was the second time he had seen what essentially amounted to a farm, he wondered if this one too had animals that he could interact with. With this thought in mind, he sped up his traversal to the center of the clearing, not concerned about the building otherwise also sitting in the clearing. From the center he could get a better feel for his location rather than walking around the edge.
Due to the Metalman being unable to sense ki, he would be entirely unaware of any others in the clearing with him.
Shiro's ears twitched, she could feel someone there, she couldn't sense ki all too well but she knew that in her territory that someone was moving closer towards her. Though it might just be a small animal, she didn't like the taste of small animals thus she left them alone. Though if someone were coming towards her, she wouldn't pay all to much attention to them, it was way too dark for her to carefully analyze every piece of land for something wrong, she could just see what might be there, and usually, she was right on that part.
Shiro would eventually end up witnessing Volta. The tall and muscular woman was pretty much a beast from any point of view of any animal, and what she was doing here was planting down seeds rather quickly, she was using her strength to force seeds down into the ground where not many animals could eat them up. Though that strange feeling was still there. She could feel someone here and it would make her stomach churn ever so slightly just so she could be aware of the fact. Though looking around, she didn't see an intruder or an animal. Maybe they were about the size of the stems of some of these leaves.
Shiro went towards a taller group of plants and would be obstructed from Volta's view, except for her face.
Volta's eyes generated a soft, flashlight like beam of light as the magma churned in his body. These pockets were the only indication of this viscous liquid flowing through his face. Only by sheer happenstance being where his eyes were. This offered great light however in these darker areas, allowing him to investigate the land and foliage around him.
Taking note of the plant life, they seemed consistent with some that he saw on and around the farm he landed in earlier in the week. Wit h this take into consideration, perhaps he was on someone's property and if this were the case, they must be around here somewhere. Volta would turn a corner past the grown plants to look for a building or even a sign of a worked field, they tended to be fairly close to the living facilities of these beings.
"Is anyone there? I must inquire about your 'farm'. If you have small creatures I wish to see them."
Volta tried his best to speak loudly enough as to catch attention to the owner of this property, should they be home. Either way, the metalman's trek across the farm was unimpeded. Allowing him to inspect the fields, those with holes that almost looked fresh, but with how little experience his kind has with acts of the sort, or dirt for that matter, he wasn't entirely sure of the fact.
As Shiro tended her fields she was pretty much multitasking, she was paying attention to her plants, and taking care of them also while hearing out for anyone who might be there. She expected some sort of small animal to come out soon and run past her due to something chasing it, she wouldn't expect what really is in her farm right now. Though, soon enough she heard a voice! Someone was asking to see her small animals or something like that, they sounded pretty formal were they one of those people who asked her if they could build here? Great, not them again!
"Are you one of those builders again? For the third time, I'm not letting you build here, and if you do it anyway I'm going to hurt you!" She went towards the direction of the voice, she saw a light there and immediately squinted her eyes, it kind of hurt since she was still working in the complete dark, her pupil had to constrict. "Huh, you look different from the other guys that asked me. Even if you switch up your look my answer is still the same, No! I'm not going to sell my property!" She approached Volta, with her towering appearance towards his short frame. She looked pretty dirty to be honest, she was working in a field and her face has a lot of dirt on it, not that she minded.
There were many things Volta expected to see to be honest. And of course another saiyan was pretty high on his list. So as the stranger spoke, he understood that they were at the least sentient. so this meant that they would be capable of the most basic form of communication at least. He knew not what she meant when she referred to "builders", but apparently they were a group of people that apparently wanted her property.
Considering this for a moment, Volta didn't see the use any business would have for an empty space like this, a kilometer or so in diameter. And this far into the middle of nowhere? Then again a factory with this much raw resources and isolation would be favorable for any sort of questionable services.
Volta was undaunted by the saiyan woman, regardless of her unkempt appearance or stature over him, she was just like the rest. A sack of flesh that only proved another specimen for him to study and then toss back into their natural habitat. Taking a moment to look the soil covered humanoid, he would then take his moment to speak, his bright steel-silver teeth showing as he did so.
"Oh, you're just another on of 'them'. A dirty fleshy with time enough on their limited clock to toil among nature. I'm not whatever this 'builder' you speak of is and even if I was... you aren't doing a great job of being intimidating."
Volta spoke modestly, with a tad bit of cynicism in his tone as he did so. These creatures had yet to do much to impress him. They were like any of the other organic beasts on the planet, except that they had one huge flaw, their sentience. This mortal sentience gave them a sort of pride that Volta found rather disgusting, what being could be so full of itself that it willingly boasts despite the fact no one cares. Their culture almost felt centered on this entire theme for that matter.
"From what I can gather, this is some sort of far right? Do you have any creatures on this so called land? I wish to study them."
Volta spoke sternly, letting his only objective out to the mortal, he needed to see a rabbit or something to calm his diodes. Hopefully this being had something of the sort.
Shiro listened to the robot that was speaking to her, it obviously had some sort of superiority complex to something that included her. She didn't mind, everyone had their own ideas and ideas and if that meant she would be hated by them, then it was their choice. Though it was sort of clear that he wanted to insult her for some reason, that was something a lot of people had with prejudges of other people, some sort of need to insult them. She never understood that, if she hated something she wouldn't even talk to whatever that might be.
"There are a couple of animals here and there, they're not in this farm though, that would be a waste for them. I don't eat many animals on this planet anyway." She gave a small chuckle before adding onto her response to the sentence "And speaking of intimidation, I'm not trying anything. I don't need to be intimidating, but you could be at the very least be nicer when you approach someone's land uninvited and start insulting them." She responded, and then decided that she was finished working on the farm for today, she got everything pretty much, after all.
"For someone who's asking for help, you sure are rude anyway. Aha. Well, enjoy your stay here. You can have some food if you want. I can cook something up." She might as well treat him as a guest for now, she needed to get changed anyway and she needed to clean herself as well. She wondered what this thing was even thinking, he might try and kill her. She heard that these metal beings were pretty strong themselves and that she couldn't beat them at her current state by a close friend of hers, who she hadn't seen a while.
She at the very least didn't get mad at him making fun of her being organic or whatever he said."My name is Shiro by the way. I'm a Saiyan or whatever they call it. Though I just live in this farm and sometimes I hunt demons. Not all that often though, just when I'm hungry." Now that introductions were done she could relax until he went away, he probably didn't care for her, just the small creatures in the forest. Around her farm, there were some small animals, but outside there were none only big animals went there since they would eat the small animals quickly.
If Volta were capable of it, he would have tolled his eyes at the comments made by the saiyan woman, but either way, her comment on the lack of animals here turned his placid forwn into one of annoyance. It was bad enough that he had to travel through the woodlands to hope to find some sort of animal, but those he did encounter were too scared to even let him approach. Little by little this planet was becoming a greater and greater disappointment. However it was the closest planet they could catapult him to and because of that, he was going to be here for quite a while.
"Well that is rather... disappointing. My entire trip to this planet relied on me finding something new out about Sadal and the life the saiyans lived with."
Taking a moment to make a mental note. Volta let out an annoyed sigh as he spoke. It was clear he had already gotten on the saiyan's nerves and cared not if he persisted to do so. Looking around some, the bright lights from his eyes gleaming beams in each direction he looked.
"My kind does not need to consume food like you fleshies. We sustain ourselves entirely on magma and if necessary rocks of the igneuos classification. And did you just say that you 'hunt demons when yo are hungry'?
That particular statement had the metalman questioning quite a bit, unsure how to approach that he made it clear he wanted a clarrification on the matter. Waiting as patiently as he could manage for the saiyan to reply to the question.

What she didn't know was those animals were the sole purpose of him coming to this planet, though it kind of made her question why he came to the forest in the first place. If he went all the way to her farm he would have clearly seen that there was barely any animals for him to study, that were to his liking, what was more was that he wasn't this type of person that ate food, he consumed something else apparently magma was something he consumed, and that sounded cool though she couldn't serve him anything it was quite sad indeed.
What brought her attention back to him was when he questioned her habits of hunting demons for food."Well yeah, they're annoying and like to come here since its filled with darkness all the time due to the trees, they even try to attack me. But I killed one for the first time a few years ago and it turns out their meat tasted great! So now I go around hunting them and eating them, it's pretty fun since it isn't just the same old same old with farming, I get to face some pretty strong demons and once I kill them, I eat them!"
She could already tell that she got his interest with that statement, now she told him the truth about it, all she really did was just gather food and kill demons, it was her lifestyle, she didn't need anything more in her life than it, she was completely happy with her lifestyle, and some robot telling her that she was a worthless being or whatever could have her care less, she was living the life after all.
This, was by far the most... peculiar interaction Volta had dealt with in the short time he had been on this planet. while it was rather conclusive to jump to the thought that there was not going to be more peculiar instances, but it was worth noting this particular saiyan in the least. Either way, perhaps she may be more informed on the layout of the land here over some of the others he had run into. These nature sorts tended to be by his experience, what little he had that was.
Eating demons though, that was... that was somewhere between absolute madness and confusing as hell. letting it ruminate over in his mind some, Volta noted that it wasn't cannibalism however... since technically the makai and saiyans were not the same species.
"So... your diet consists of whatever you manage to grow on this farm and the meat of another humanoid species?... Sounds about right for the description I have on saiyans.
Taking a moment to chuckle to himself at his comment, Volta would watch for a change of expression on the saiyan before speaking once more, he had information he wanted to learn from this woman.
"What is topography of the surrounding area like? I know I have been walking through a forest lately, but is there perhaps a moderately large lake or an ocean nearby? I am curious as to the species of sea life on Sadal."
Volta went to reinforce his intent to study the wildlife of Sadal and hoped the female saiyan could implore him as to locations of interests. Mountains, Lakes, or anything of the sort was what he sought. Regardless he was sure this saiyan would have some variety of information for him to take note of.
In terms of diet, he was mostly right though there were a few things to correct. "No, I don't eat any humanoid species, It's just specifically demons. Whatever humanoids are, I probably wont eat them. Demons are pretty bad after all, they killed my mom, dad and a bunch of other people I care about." That was all she had to say about it, though judging by what his tone was like, it was pretty odd for someone to Eat a demon or something like that, whatever this humanoid species was it wasn't on her diet, she's never even seen a humanoid.
"If you're talking about what's here. After my farm the rest of the forest is a lot bigger than the one you came from, it leads to a river that goes for a pretty long time, it has some fish inside of there, and there is stuff that eats the fish there too. West of here there's a rather big lake, the water is clean to drink and most of the fishes there are pretty big so I usually go there instead of the river to find some fish. Even if the river fish is tasty!" That was all she knew of Saldal, to be honest, she never ventured out past the lake or even met any city folk.
Shiro was now changed and now clean, she decided to follow Volta."I think, there's more to Saldal than here, I can't tell you much about everything else, I just live here and I live alone. Though I do want to visit a city here, I just have no idea where it is."
She thought about tagging along with his journey but she remembered that he didn't like her at all, he wasn't pissing her off and he didn't look too strong, but she should respect his wishes or something like that
Volta was rather shocked at the saiyan's lack of understanding a simple word. What sort of bumpkin was he dealing with? Regardless of this face he persisted to listen to see if this saiyan could reasonably rationalize the act of eating a species so similar and yet so different form her own. She exclaimed that they were the result for the death of some of her family and friends. Surely this did not justify their actions in the saiyan's eyes. However, who was Volta to argue semantics with an ape who didn't understand the word 'humanoid'.
"A 'humanoid' is any being like yourself and I, they tend to stand on two legs and can think rationally. Most of these similar species can even breed."
Volta gave the best explanation as to what the word 'humanoid' meant to the saiyan. Although he was fairly certain that she didn't really care. Either way, the metalman made it his mission to enlighten those that could prove... useful to him one day. While they didn't seem too educated, they may have skills he could take worth in learning or taking advantage of. Listening as carefully to her as he could, Volta took mental notes and tried to construct a rough map in his head. If there was a lake to the west and going further the direction he came would lead to a river... where the hell was west on this planet? He hadn't once payed attention to the planet's sun as he really didn't have to and it was the dead of night now as far as tracking the sun was concerned. Either way he did his best to construct a general consensus of his surroundings. She also said that the forest went on for some time afterwards, that could prove both a challenge and interesting.
"Frankly, this planet is boring. Most of what I have seen is vegetation and the most interesting encounter I have had so far is with you, a saiyan that eats demons... But alas Imust persist until I can leave this forsaken rock.
Volta ranted to himself as he gathered his bearings, seeing the sun rise from the direction he had come, the slight light glimmering in the distance as the ball of plasma rose over the wooded horizon. That would hep some, if he knew how these people tracked their directions... on his home planet they tracked everything by magnetism, but perhaps the saiyans had another method of going about that matter.
"Assuming I hadn't come from the west... and the sun is rising in the direction I came in... Either I came from the south or the east because I didn't not feel much of a magnetic pull back that way. As far as a city goes, the capital is back that way, but perhaps I could use your help out here. You could assist me in methods to catch my specimens.
Volta began talking as to ask the saiyan how the directions on Sadal operated, but as his thoughts trailed off, he suggested the mechanical usefulness he may have for the particular saiyan's skill sets and even her knowledge of survival in the wilds.
The word humanoid was explained to her, and it made sense, though, who decided on that to be the word? She hadn't even heard of another word with the same first few letters in it. Humanoid, that was weird, taking out the old part was where the actual word originated, what the hell was a human? A species far away that invented language? Probably, she should visit their planet one day maybe she could get some education there instead of just getting wilderness survival skills, she needed more knowledge anyway, being smart was a goal she aimed to reach in the future.
She thought to herself, what was the real reason he was here, it could be something as simple as just visiting to see some animals and study it, but what was the fun in that? MAybe she didn't understand his form of entertainment, usually she goes to places to find someone or something to fight, either that or she's there to buy seeds to have an addition to her farm, plus farm supplies those city boys made were really useful for her since they were really effective in agriculture, and it wasn't like she hated them or anything, though they did get on ehr nerves sometimes.
Though before she had gone back in her shack after seeing him off he had then asked her to help her out with finding some specimens, she could understand what he was saying, though she wasn't sure why he needed her help, after all, she was insulted by him, and it was her choice. Though maybe she could show some compassion and help him out, maybe that would change his mind on living beings, that might be nice, he must have some sort of reason to hate them deep inside, and if she could change that she fulfilled her duty as a helper
"Alright, I'll go and help you. But lemme go get something inside of my house, I have a feeling we might be out for a while. Plus, since the sun hasn't risen yet that means the fish are going to taste better if we go to either the river or the lake okay! Let me just go get my stuff!" she smiled and then went inside her shack and grabbed a backpack, it seemed to be the most technologically advanced thing she had, with all the designs and pockets, plus the extra technological stuff on there like a digital compass and a digital map that appeared in front of her face like a HUD
She then went with Volta, standing by him and awaiting orders, since she was helping him she might as well serve him for this duration. "Where do you want to go? I can go anywhere pretty much, and remember where my farm is, If you want to study small animals, pretty much everywhere I just listed has a bunch of animals around there, aquatic and land animals too." She gave him a smile and then waited for him to tell her where to go.
She had thought to herself, what else she could do other than just help him out. Maybe she could get herself some extra fish that she could eat. She could also hunt a few other animals for meat, if she could find a demon lurking the area that would be great too, after all the best meat came from those who worked out a lot and used ki, they made the best texture on their muscle, plus the balance of fat they had made it even better.
She was drooling ever so slightly from these thoughts.

[Pl Off 1,547/4,641 Def] Of course at times things don't always go as expected now and again. What was a calm evening with the sun in the air made it hard to see another bright object burning its way into the atmosphere as it broke through and began hurtling towards the surface of the planet choosing what it believed to be a rather void of life area with fewer signals them most other places. Trying to avoid any or too much of the public eye encase any of the authorities or saiyan military were keeping watch. Best at times to avoid trouble after all. However doing quick calculations could only help so much while only having a few moments to do scans and among other things during landing.
The pod was hurling down towards the nearby land as well as some of the crops the computer seeing the tilled soil as a softened area for best landing to avoid damage. It was likely to be within a few moments the large metal sphere would hit hard into the ground with a small explosion of earth likely making it briefly rain soil and light plant life. Thanks to the good engines it would only encompass a area about three times the size of the pod not too much land damage in the wide scope of things. The impact leaving a decent crater though. The pod itself held up rather well as it often did. The old thing had always served its purpose well when she needed it too.
The pod would lightly sizzle from heat from entry through the atmosphere still as the plating slowly began to cool as the air touched it. The hot metal cooling quickly as it was built too and the engines began powering down as several checks were done to check for any damages or needs of repair all screens coming up green of course just fine. It would take a few moments as the door began to creek open just a light bit at first barely a crack. A bit of steam leaving the door as the airlock was undone. Releasing the held in air allowing the fresh air to seep on as the person inside would soon reveal themselves.

Volta had already reached the tree line by the time that the saiyan exclaimed their need to acquire something form their shack of sorts. The Metalman had no idea as to what sort of device they would need to study and examine aquatic life in its natural habitat. Volta would merely stand under the water and watch them... what better way was there after all? It took the mechanical man a few moments to realize that Saiyans and many other species like them actually needed to breathe some sort of air... perhaps the device they had in mind would accommodate that requirement.
Then all of a sudden the silence of the clearing was shattered as a large metal object jettisoned itself deep into the fields of the Saiyan's farm. Volta had to refrain from cursing and laughing at the same time. His mind quickly averting from his planned trip to the water to rather seeing what was the deal with the explosion, perhaps there was something to learn here... perhaps there was a person among whatever survived that would distract him from the majority of the fleshies he had encountered here so far. Jaunting to the crater, more excited than anything, the Metalman was extremely curious as to the contents of the wreckage.
"Anyone or anything in there... better yet, ALIVE in there?
The Metal entity's voice sung down the dirt and rock ridden crater to the pod that had been revealed to be below, despite the strength of the light coming off of Volta's eyes, he was still unsure as to what, if anything had exited the pod quite yet. Eyeing it intently he wondered as to where it came from, his hopes of it being another Metalman were shattered as soon as he saw the curved outline of the ship, however, his hopes of an interesting encounter were not quite down. Who knew, perhaps he would encounter a species his kind had not documented or needed quite the update on. Either way, the being's hopes were up, to the point he had already forgotten that Shiro had gone into their shack to retrieve something or another.
