Over in the capital city, the warrior Rutaba would get a call from someone. Considering that he currently stationed in Plant for a while, one of the higher up told him that someone would like to meet him in there after hearing that he's stationed there solo. The said man's name is Dr. Argus. Dr. Argus was a Sadal researcher, a Saiyan, which is honestly quite rare, but regardless, he would like to meet the young man. The moment when he reached the planet, a message would came to him, and it's seem regarding the topic they talked about back when Rutaba was about to be stationed in the planet. The message told him that his presence is requested in the Jungle at certain coordinate seven days from the message's arrival.
True enough, soon he would find the doctor waiting on the promised place. Dr. Argus looks like a mixture of a drill sergeant and a researcher. His doctor coat did not hide the fact that he is a very well built Saiyan. "Sir Rutaba, was it? First of all, welcome to Plant and we're sorry for our sudden interruption on your regular duty. My name is Dr. Argus from the Research and Resource Department of Sadal Defense Force."
The doctor offered Rutaba a handshake as greeting. "It's a bit sudden, but our information is very sensitive so we cannot explain the details in here... Unless you have any authorized personnel that you want to bring with us, I would prefer if you kindly ask them to not come with you. Is that fine with you, Sir?"
It seemed that Rutaba's time on Plant was going to be quite eventful. He honestly didn't expect to get even the most basic jobs on the Tuffle Planet from anybody. As such, it came to his surprise when a Saiyan Researcher from Sadal would contact the Peacekeeper wishing to meet with him. Nonetheless, work was work, and as much as he'd like nothing more than to just spend time with Demalia for his entire stay there it wasn't exactly in character for him to ignore such messages. Especially knowing that he specifically was being called up for this. It wasn't just some random assignment.
The week that passed leading up to this point was easily enough time to allow the Saiyan to prepare. Rutaba quickly threw on some of his training fatigues, not wanting to equip his armor aside from the heavy-weighted training vest that was underneath his attire. He wouldn't let that thing go till it was entirely used up and no longer provided a use for him. The Saiyan didn't waste any time getting to the location, either, flying out to the coordinates he was sent. He remained cautious, as he hadn't met anyone in these parts before so he had to remain vigilant.
"Yes, I am Rutaba. Thank you for the welcome and... it is quite alright, my time here could always use a few things to do here and there. It is nice to meet you, Dr.Argus." Rutaba replied in about the best way he could for this situation. He was happy to meet new people as always, and with a planet like this, he had all the opportunities in the world to do so. But he had to be formal. Hearing the Doctor speak up once more, the Saiyan gave him a relatively firm nod while shaking his hand.
"I didn't bring anyone to this location, so we should be fine. There's only one person I'd say has authority for me to bring along, but they aren't here at the moment. So I am ready to go wherever you all see fit. I am quite curious about what is going on." Rutaba thought about Demalia a little bit, shaking his head to clear her from his thoughts. He couldn't be thinking about her whenever he was on a job and this one seemed very impotent in a way if it had to be so classified. For the time being, he'd just stick by the doctor should he lead the way, as that was about what he could do. [PL: 57,542] [HW: 14,386]
"Very well. All I can say at the moment is that it will be a totally new experience for you. Please do follow me."
...While at first Dr. Argus showed a gentlemanly side, perhaps it will be the last time Rutaba would feel pleasant at this guy... considering where he'll brought then. They now gone to a very well hidden facility located inside a cave. At first it looked like a normal one, but after a bit of retinal scan on one of the entrance, a bit of code and confirmation, the door opened and revealed a lab-like structure. The ground is made with metal... katchin perhaps. While passing long corridor, Dr. Argus would start explaining.
"Have you heard about our division before, Sir Rutaba? Perhaps you haven't, perhaps you have, but let's just say we're division in researching and developing equipment, and we're also responsible in searching for valuable comrades for the Sadal Defensive Force. The research and resource department strives to create elites of Sadal Defensive Force, you see.. At least at first! But unfortunately, unlike those who came from the "Front door", our way tend to legalize some people from the "back door". While some of these people would later turn to a new leaf and indeed become elite in truest word, there are those who are... bad fruits so to say, and decided to just enter SDF because they're interested in fights. Sadly this is not an uncommon thing. Friends turned traitors... criminals in ranks of our forces, and while it's not fault of our division, spies and whatnots.
Prior to our current king, the former king back then disbanded our resource section because these problem, finding us to be incompetent. But what can you say, it's a spoiled milk. Under our current leader, we're reinstated, with our mission... to create countermeasure of how to fight against these spies and whatnots. You get my drift? Let's say one of your teammate turned into a traitor, can you truly, without feeling any remorse, off them, or torture them for whatever information they have? I think it would be hard. Not many would say "yes" without skipping a beat. Not only that an improper placing of emotions in such situation would lead to massive jeopardy after a leap of judgement. So that our elites and precious soldier didn't have to gone through such thing, we're here, you see..."
And soon, they arrived. The scene would suddenly turn bleak. Kids locked in cells, their eyes dead like a fish, Their neck cuffed, and they looked at Rutaba disinterestedly... they're not full saiyans. Halfling. All of them are halfling. "You see, to groom the best enforcers, you need to face one thing. You have to kill your emotions, you have to ready to die anytime... These children, as you can see, used to be slaves. Human debris they called them, because they're without parents, no one going to take care of them, and they're exotic. They're too weak to enter the Sadal Defensive Force. if they're strong enough they might could enter through the front door, but most of these kids are so to say... "failed products" for front door entrance. That's why, we're here.
Project MALUS."
The Doctor would take an apple and took a bite out of it, then tosses it to one of the cell. The kid inside froze, but immediately stood up. The door opened, and soon another opened. Two of the kids inside walked away somewhere.
"...Forbidden fruit, Those who graduated from here will be given full Sadal citizenship, but I would suggest you to treat the as disposable. Don't get too attached to them. One of the can die tomorrow... or maybe a week, a month? No one know. All that's important is that today, we'd like to attach one to your team, what would you say? We just nearly have a fresh graduate, you see... but before MALUS could take off, I need to gather data first, That, Sir Rutaba, is where you came We want you to test our first graduate, to see whether he's ready or not. This is an order from the king while at it."
"A new experience huh? I'm not too sure about that if this is a research department. I've known my fair share of researchers at this point." honestly, for being a Saiyan, he was incredibly interested in all of this technological stuff. Not enough to change his own lifestyle and understand too much of it, but enough that seeing what other people were invested in made him happy to a degree. Nonetheless, Rutaba followed along like a good soldier as he entered the lab facility, looking around curiously as if trying to take it all in.
His focus turned towards Argus as the Doctor began speaking to the Peacekeeper now. He nodded a few times as he asked if he had heard about their division before. It wasn't something he was too invested in, however, just passing words of something with such a name. He was just a soldier after all. As the doctor kept on speaking the Saiyan looked a bit more uncomfortable at some points, especially once he brought up a teammate turning traitor. "I..." he almost wanted to speak out about his own experience with a traitor. A Saiyan named Azukai that wiped out his entire squad leaving him solo like this. They were once blood brothers to a degree but now the other Saiyan was out there somewhere. But... could he kill him? Most likely not without rage being potent there. But he wasn't one to kill period.
Everything changed once they arrived at one of the more horrific sights the Saiyan had laid his eyes upon in a long time. Within his own people's jurisdiction at that. These poor lost souls being cuffed and treated like slaves within these cells. This man said they used to be slaves but was this any different at all? A bunch of halfbreeds could be considered disposable to some random Saiyan but as a true, good-hearted Peacekeeper, Rutaba wanted to vomit at the sight alone. Their cold, dead eyes, made him feel a burning inside of his chest. "...The king allowed this?" he muttered this out to himself. Never before had he felt such a burning desire to become the ruler of the SDF other than respect for the position itself. What monster could reinstate something like this? Nonetheless, Rutaba was but a soldier for now...
Rutaba's vision slowly turned towards the doctor as he spoke to him further. An order from the King to do such a thing... it was so horrible that this existed, to begin with! Rutaba wanted to tear this place apart liberating these children and taking them in but, he'd never be able to return to his home if that was the case. For now, he just had to follow along. "I'd be happy to take one in. I understand you say not to get attached but... my Squad is my family, so whoever this graduate is will be my newest family member since the loss of the ones that came before." he spoke sort of bluntly about this topic despite the weight it carried. His old squad was entirely wiped out by a traitor in their unit. All besides him. Building a squad back up to size would be good for the Saiyan to have a little company but he certainly couldn't say he'd stop missing his old allies. "In any case, I am ready to meet this graduate whenever. I'd be happier with as soon as possible though." with a wave of his hand a bit, Rutaba would stay by the doctor as he waited to see where he was going to be taken. He didn't like this whole scenario one bit, but if he could save just one child from this hellhole and bring him into his inner family, that was a good start.
As expected, the man looks disgusted. Dr. Argus kept his smile while looking at Rutaba. A man with strong ideology, a man with passion for justice, the man who said he would like to be the next king. A candidate for a leader, but unknown when will he take the throne. "Well, Sir Rutaba, I'm informed that you're interested to be the next king... Surely you understand right? There are darker side for everything. There's side where you exist, and there are side where these kids exist... At times to protect what truly matter we need to be cruel. If you can't stomach this then you will stumble when you need to do necessary cruelty."
As a new family member huh. Dr. Argus only smiled ambiguously. "Very well, but like I said, as long as they do their mission properly, I would not protest. Do not pamper them too much, now. They're too much of a wild card. They're disposable assets, so if you decide to somehow treat them as a family member, they could behave unpredictably. These kids does not feel love and affection, it will be like a drug to them."
Hasty, but understandable. The doctor walked toward the next room, where they goes up some stairs, revealing itself to be a spectator booth on top of an arena. Down there, two boys are fighting, One definitely losing really bad, and definitely not in a pretty state.
"These are where our children are going to show their mettle. As today is graduation day, there's only two that will be fighting here. These two managed to pass the tests in quite the stellar way, considering that they are our best two most efficient fighters. To be a graduate, you must pass three tests... First, survival test. We gave them a pet, an easily edible one, gave them chance to take care of it... and then we'll toss them along with their pet to wilderness. Those who passed this test either killed their pet for food, or kill another kid's pet. The former teaches them to kill their emotions to survive, and the latter teach them to sacrifice's others' happiness for the sake of one's happiness. The second test is that they would put in squad along with several other kids, and then we pit them against another team. This teaches them camaraderie... For the third one as you can see... is to pit the kid against their own teammate."
...And this one is that last test. This means these two kids are used to be friends. "...Those who want to get out will have to kill their friend. This teaches them how to deal with treason. Those who are weak will not get out and die, only acting as a fodder for the strong. To self sacrifice means you will be used by your friend. This also teach no one will be free from risk of being a traitor."
And at that point, the match concluded. The black haired boy with red eyes just crushed the neck of the other boy. Without doubt, that's a killing blow.
"Looks like 035 won against 014. Well then, that kid would be the one in your team, Sir Rutaba."
Those eyes, it looked as if he feels nothing... either that, or he forced himself to abandon his emotion. From the look at it, his back was freshly wounded. Did the kid turned around and his friend used him? No one know, but there's one sure thing. The kid now lacked any sort of normal "human" emotions.
The Peacekeeper couldn't help but lightly grit his teeth as Argus spoke about Rutaba's own dreams. That was a low blow to use it in such a way and the Saiyan almost wanted to storm away right now but he had to see it through to the end. "Yes, Doctor. It is my ambition... I look up to the Kings and Queens who have come before. I'd like to be able to try my own hand at ruling this wonderful Kingdom, to protect this universe and our people." he said this more casually now, trying not to sound too out of it now that he was told such a thing. Would he truly fail as a King just because he preferred not to do such cruel acts? Surely raw progress and care could bring these kids to far greater heights. Nurturing power came in two ways in his eyes, as he had started growing far faster once he met the girl he considered his.
Nonetheless, he listened on to what Argus had to say next, his face looking a bit more soured seeing as he didn't know if it was good or bad to treat these kids with respect and care now. Were they too far gone and corrupted to be saved or treated with kindness? He didn't want to turn into a monster himself just to not ruin them. "I see. I won't go overboard on anything then... but don't expect me to use anyone like they are disposable. Any member of a squad is priceless to the entire livelihood of the rest. I've had to learn that. Even if in this situation someone would call it an Asset instead, an Assets uses are lost once they are lost." he hated calling anyone or anything an asset but this guy seemed pretty insistent that the children were disposable. But wasn't unpredictability the nature of mortals?
Soon enough, the two of them would head up some stairs and the Peacekeeper had to watch two boys fighting one another. It looked like an unfair battle but that was the nature of fighting, one person would always be on top of the other in some way. Argus started speaking once more, however, showing how inhumane these tests were for these poor children. Taking care of a pet just to be forced to either take its life and eat it or take away another child's pet for the same purpose? The second test seemed hardly as bad for the time being, and the third sounded like a nice one on one spare to the Saiyan. That was until the next set of words were spoken causing the Peacekeeper to look towards Argus in a bewildered state. "Kill...!?" his voice told every little bit that he felt, he thought this was insane. It most likely meant the team fights were to the death as well, the surviving members of the winning team being able to move on. This felt like the exact opposite of how he was let out of the Sadal Academy. He wasn't allowed to leave and start work until he formed a proper bond with a squad that he would stay with. Of course, in the end, one of them turned traitor and sure enough, his fond memories forced him to be unable to strike his previous ally down until his entire squad was dead with his opponent fleeing. It felt almost like an attack sent at his memories.
"I'm stopping this." the Peacekeeper spoke firmly almost out of blind fury for this training, his power flaring up around him in an aura for a moment as he clenched a fist. He was obviously going to crash through the observation room itself to stop the two kids from fighting, but alas, he was far too late. Not even being able to hear the sounds, it was painfully clear that the boy that dropped had his neck crushed. He was dead. "Tch.." the Saiyan's power slowly went back down as he stared at the winning child. "Tell me... those first two tests. What did this child do in both of them? I... wish to know unless it is classified." his voice sounded a lot more disappointed now. Not with the boy, but rather himself, as he just had to sit there and watch as a life was taken before him for some test. This sadness only grew a bit as he saw the lifeless eyes of the winner as well, did either of them really survive this test.
The Peacekeeper then looked towards the Doctor, his eyes obviously a bit upset at all of this now as he started to speak. "What is his name? The one who won... if he has one. I do not wish to use just a number for him. I'd like to see him as soon as possible as well." the way he asked this, nearly sounded like a demand more than a request. Rutaba's gaze shifted to stare at the surviving child with a bit of sympathy, but the wound on his back seemed so glaring. Was he betrayed by his ally...? Or perhaps forced into this test through torture by some scientist prior to this. He had no way to know and asking would probably get him no answers.
"Then I suggest you should look for the darker side then. if you want to deal it, you need to know the root of the problem. The root of the problem these time happened because there are turn coats, spies and troublemakers among us. But what can you say? Demand created market. We supply the product, the Sadal Defense Force needed it, and thus we have that market. If there's no traitor with strong power, there's no need for these kids to suffer... but at the same time, they won't be employed either, or ever see the light, with a lot of slavery at several parts of the galaxy. Saiyans, despite our very normal looking appearance, actually hold power unimaginable," the doctor would say. "How much do you think underground fighter out there are saiyans or half saiyans? A lot actually!"
Hearing Rutaba's answer, the doctor smiled more amicably. "Yes, that's the way. Assets are useful as long as they have a value. If they're dead, they're not an asset, but at least you can say it's a good investment if they did whatever you want them to."
The moment Rutaba was about to stop the fight, the kid tilted his head at his direction, like wondering what's wrong. His red eyes looking truly emotionless. It's not even moist. Has he truly killed his emotion? No one knows, but... all in all, those dead looking eyes just like mirror of his mental state at the moment.
"Oh, it's nothing classified at all. You see, MAL 035 was found in this very same planet, as a slum child. His approximate age at the moment is around 12. Compared to the normal saiyans, he's slightly below their strength. As a demonic halfling, he seem to a bit too soft. Many subject of similar race showed sadistic tendency, or explosive anger that 035 did not show at first. Simply speaking, he was a child who kept his innocence. However, we found out that he carries a rather particular gene that we would like to have in our hand no matter what. 035 was about to get sold to an underground fighting arena before we stepped in and gave him these test. We gave 035 a lamb on the first task. Compared to the other children, 035 showed much more care to his animal. He showed protective instinct that made him triumph on the other children. It wasn't until he was really starving that he was forced to kill another children's pet to eat. Even so, when he saw a kid about to die from hunger, he decided to sacrifice his lamb finally for them to eat together."
...Saiyan appetite considered, this most likely really extreme task.
"To test his resolve, 035 was paired with three kids, two among which are subpar, and one was his current... pardon me, ex-opponent down there... 014. All four have one similarity. They killed someone's pet and yet they spared he owner. Against them, we pit them with children who got their pets killed... Among of those is the kid he helped. Four against four, two of his teammate killed, and he was forced to kill for the first time, until it was left with the boy he rescued. He was unable to kill the boy, who would kill him if not for 014's intervention. 035 showed conflicting emotions of liking to kill his opponent, yet at the same time giving them mercy. So we decided that the only way to unleash his true potential is to pit him against 014.
035 was still naive. He had the upper hand, he have greater strength than 014, yet he decided to try to spare his ex-comrade. 014 have greater desire to get out of here, you see, and as you can see... he stabbed 035. I had no idea what they were talking down there, but 035 killed him now, so that's not important I guess."
At the comment about name, the doctor just shrugged. "He don't have any. Name him as you wish." then he pressed a button. "035, your performance was splendid. As promised to you, now you're member of the Suppression Unit. Head to the armory and meet us up here pronto."
...About five minutes later, dressed in skin tight, sleek armor that looked like futuristic assassin garb, the kid would soon meet up with Rutaba. "...035, reporting for duty." was all the kid would say.
Rutaba's eyes looked a bit softer as Argus talked about what 035 did in his first test, he seemed to be somewhat compassionate, holding on till the last moments to actually cause harm to either his or another's pet. Of course, it was a sadistic trial to put any of the kids through but the fact he decided to assist another child from dying to hunger with his own showed his willpower to a degree. Supposedly this boy was also half demon, just like his girlfriend was. Was he meant to be looked down upon for such a race as well? Then again, it seemed he was being used as an asset in the end. The Peacekeeper's eyes glided back down to the child as Argus brought up his resolve and what happened in the second and then third tests. It seemed he held back a lot of his killing instinct to get through these trials until the very end where he had to put 014 down, especially once the other kid stabbed him in the back. It was his victory. "I see, thank you for letting me know then. I like learning about who I am to work with." his words were softer this time as he decided he'd have to play the more parental card now since his new ally was decided by this fight.
Once it turned out the child had no name, Rutaba slowly looked down towards the floor and just nodded. "I'll check with him, he has every right to choose his own name as I do. If he doesn't have any ideas I'll figure something out. Names bring a bond far higher than what codes can give." he remained firm on this. He didn't want to call this new addition to his squad a number forever like a piece of equipment. Regardless of race and upbringing, he was a member of the Defense Force and had his place alongside the older saiyan now. For now, however, Rutaba just sat back and waiting for the young halfbreed to meet up with him.
It didn't take time at all, as Rutaba's eyes danced around his form trying to take note of his armor. It looked really intuitive but... armor was a means to an end anyway. In any case, Rutaba's face showed a very soft smile to the boy as he'd walk towards him. "It is nice to meet you, you can call me Rutaba." the way he spoke, was a lot more soft and kind than what he used with Argus previously, seeming more like a caretaker now than an actual warrior. He'd speak up again, trying to ask the boy even more. "Do you have a name you'd like to use? Don't worry about your code... the Doctor said I could name you as I wish so it'll be fine if I let you pick your own, no?" now, he sounded a lot more curious. Could a child put through these trials at such a young age like twelve even be able to come up with his own name? Or perhaps a fragmented past could dig up something for him to use, the Peacekeeper didn't worry about which case that could be as long as this young man could be given a true name rather than just a number tagged on.
Rutaba started to look around a little bit, before staring back at the boy with a much more serious face. Suddenly, he'd open up a slight telepathic link with the boy, something he had picked up after meeting Rose and realizing that such a thing would be very useful to have. 'Just between you and me... I'd like to get you out of here as soon as possible. Do you have any problems with that?' his words tried to transmit themselves to the boy, hoping he wouldn't be ignored or blocked out in some way. He'd leave that subject hanging there for a moment, hoping the young halfbreed would respond at least positively to their interaction so far. Techniques: [PT-1] Telepathy: Rutaba pushes outwards with his ki sense, focusing on transmitting his words directly into the mind of his target(s). [Based on Ki Sense range]
The child looked at the man with cold, unfeeling eyes, like one who already accepted that he would be slave for life... if not at times, with hidden disgust. There's part of him that seem to either flinch, or show a fight or flight stance whenever Rutaba showed compassionate smile. Perhaps the wound inflicted in this place was on the level far beyond whatever a normal kid usually would get exposed to, considering that he taken kindness as veiled danger. He took a moment to see if Rutaba is done speaking. Something seem to sound like the boy is trained to not to speak unless the higher up done with their part. "...Acknowledged, putting Rutaba as substitute for 'Squad Leader'... I have no name, name is luxury that will not be owned by any human debris," he answered. "Everyone here called me 035. I have no previous name either. Parents I do not have, neither I remember any name if they gave me one."
And at that time, he suddenly got contacted by a telepathy. This man... wanted to get him out of here as soon as possible? He wondered if he heard that right, but... at the same time he have no idea what is in it for him. In the end, the youth answered back ...there's no problem. If you wish to bail me out from here as soon as possible, then so be it. The boy then looked at the doctor, looking for the next order.
"035, as you recognized, this man will be your squad leader. Make sure to follow each and every of his order. Do you understand?"
"Affirmative."
"Well looks like there's no problem, sir Rutaba. Do you have any other question for me, or perhaps for the child? If no, then we'll deal a bit with a little gimmick. Because the children might be a bit too unstable, it's not suggested that you let them roam free. Each and every one of these children are equipped with implant that could stop them from acting against you. This mean you can stop a rebellion before it could happened. Now, as of how..." the doctor takes out a remote control. "These thing directly sends some electric wave to the brain, enough to stun them. It should be handy if they misbehave."
Regardless of Rutaba taking it or not, the doctor would shove it to his hand. "I don't suggest breaking it either. It will possibly permanently crippling the boy."
Without really thinking about it, Rutaba's eyes would widen a bit as the boy flinched a bit when Rutaba smiled at him. Of course, there would be very little trust between the two of them as of yet, and with everything that had happened to a boy, why should he trust in someone else from the SDF so far? It was obvious that there was work to be done between the two of them. The moment that the boy responded to his words, Rutaba would rub the back of his head very softly trying to think of what exactly to do in such a situation. "Well, I'm going to find you a name in any case, if you don't mind anyway. If you really want to be called 035 I can make an exception for ya." he paused for a moment to think about what to say next, looking the boy up and down briefly. He supposed he would have to look into it soon enough.
It didn't take too long beyond that, for the Peacekeeper to get a definitive response from the halfbreed about the telepathic message he had sent him. It seemed that he didn't mind getting out sooner, so the Peacekeeper smiled softly afterward knowing that he'd at least be able to get him out without much trouble. Soon enough Argus would speak up further, a small back and forth between everyone making the Saiyan have to think over a few more things. He wasn't sure about being a Squad Leader but he felt he was sufficiently powerful enough to make such a position worthwhile, especially if the King decided to send him here specifically. After that, Argus asked him if he had any more questions, shaking his head a bit. "I don't really have any further questions, for now, I'll contact you if I need anything." he spoke firmly on this subject, looking at the remote control as Argus pulled it out.
A stun device could be useful in some cases, but it seemed sort of horrible to shock a young boy for misbehaving. But a rebellion would be even worse of an outcome, so he supposed he'd have to hold onto the device, especially if the breaking of the device would end up crippling the boy. "I see, thank you for letting me know at least. I assume we can take our leave, then?" the Peacekeeper would make sure that all of his gear was in check and that he had everything stowed away properly on his person as he spoke sort of softly now, his eyes looking back to Argus whenever he had finished a piece of equipment. His eyes then moved down to look at the boy for a moment. "I'd like to start personally training him as soon as possible, a squad needs to know one another, right?" for the time being, he tried to be a bit more cheerful. He'd look into what he really wanted soon enough but he needed to get this boy out soon to begin their training.
Realizing that the boy had been somewhat injured as well, and they were face to face now, it only seemed like a good idea to relieve him of his injuries. Rutaba's hand would glow a very soft gold color before his hand was placed onto the young boy's chest. "Here, if we are to train together, I want you to be free of injuries that could hinder you." he smiled softly as he spoke in a more gentle voice once more, raw ki transferring into the child's body to relieve the injury that was on his back. In due time, it should be able to heal him to full capacity. "And done... that should be all. I think." for the time being, that was all he had to say, waiting for Argus to give them any go ahead they needed to get out of there.Stamina:3/3 Stamina -> 0/3 Stamina Techniques: [EST-3] Savior Protocol: Rutaba outputs a massive amount of ki to try and repair a target's body, hopefully relieving them of a wide majority of pain. [Heals 75%, Triggers Zenkai's] Above technique being used to flavor mend the gash along Beat's back.
The other guy seem to be shocked, but that's not his point of concern at the moment. the boy simply does have not any sort of reaction to it. He does not look away however. When asked if he doesn't mind to be named, the halfling just shook his head. "No, there will be no problem about that at all. If it suits you better, then you're free to assign a more fitting identification call for me." Being in here, it's taught that name is just that, a name. It won't give any sort of personal benefit. 035 meanwhile would be quite mouthy in battle. So he guess it's normal that people would give him different ID. Although he felt he remembered a name given to him, it doesn't roll out of the tongue easily, like it's just on the tip of it, but he can't remember what it was.
"Very well, with that we're done over here. The exit is over there," the doctor would point at the exit point, which fortunately not on the way where they came from. "By the way, I would hope that you will not say anything about this place. After all, it can be considered a treason. 035 is programmed to not tell at any case either unless it's on your presence. Should he leaks anything to the public however, like the rest he would immediately die before he could do it. So please keep that in mind, sir Rutaba."
The youth just looked blankly at him, but upon suddenly healed, he flinched yet again. While he felt warm, his natural reaction was to tense up and almost ready to fight, until Rutaba's next words. Dr. Argus merely smiled at this sight as if it's very normal for the boy to act like that. "It's best to give him a treatment in the healing machine. it gonna take a long while until he'll be accepting of healing directly... especially from someone older than him."
...This might be a really cruel clue of what happened to the boy and the rest. The doctor immediately left them be, and then the boy looked slightly relaxed, although not entirely. "Is this the moment where I have to tell you what I can do and what I can't? Among all units, I dare say that my performance is more to killing blows. I'm unsuited for espionage, but if you teach me one I think I could do it. However, I cannot do any sort of spying other than tracking. My role in my previous unit was a hound. I can hear better than the rest, and I think the only one who know ki sensing in my unit. I don't doubt you know it however. Other than that... there's nothing much."
His introduction is strange, it's all business, and it felt like he's not that desperate to get out either. More like he seem to dislike the doctor... nay, he hate him. There's that blankness in his eyes, but deep inside, a clear hatred could be felt.
Rutaba stared over in the direction that Argus pointed towards, it was probably a good thing that the two of them wouldn't have to walk through the hallway where he first experienced all of the ill facts about the facility. It was then that the doctor spoke up about the rules of this whole meeting, it was not to be talked about under any circumstances, and even the boy in his presence would die if he went against his programming and spoke up. It was a horrible way to think but it was something he had to comply with. "Right, I'll pretend this meeting never happened. My new squadmate here was just transferred to me on a whim due to the lack of squadmates I had, as he is fresh from training. Nothing more or less." the way he spoke sounded sort of firm, as if he was reading off of a script of sorts. He knew this sort of thing was going to happen in the long run due to the way the facility as a whole worked, but it still didn't sit right with the Peacekeeper. He'd have to wait for more of his plans to go through on their own before pushing through with any action. Perhaps the King would be against his thoughts, but what if he was King?
Once his new squadmate made a negative reaction to him healing his wounds, he'd finish up his work and then pull back looking a bit worried for the boy as it seemed he didn't enjoy this at all. Rutaba's gaze immediately started to drift towards Argus again as he said that it was for the best to treat him with a healing machine and that it would be hard for the boy to accept direct healing. But what he specified was something way worse, especially someone older? Perhaps the children had a bit of a fallout among each other at times due to these cruel tests, like what happened when this young man got wounded in the back by his old ally. However, what exactly did the adults of this facility do to the kids they kept to cause such a reaction? "...Well, I'll work on getting a medical machine up and running. Although Sadal does have one of its own that we could make proper use of, it just needs to get operational. Nonetheless, I'll try not to use that energy on him too often, so that we can get him to a machine." he gave a bit of a gentle smile back to Beat as he brought up the machines they could try to use. The Advanced Healing Machine of Sadal hadn't been operational for use in a long while it felt like, the King was slacking on that end. While it likely wouldn't be up too soon, Rutaba could at least aim for that once he attempted to become King.
At last, Rutaba and his new ally were left alone without the doctor's presence. It was good that he didn't have to act so fake any longer in the other man's presence, pulling rank around a facility like this was an easy thing to do for either of them, as well as flaunting power, but an act of treason would be bad for the both of them. Nonetheless, Rutaba went back to staring at 035 with a curious look as he started to talk a bit more about his previous role and the primary role of his performance. It all sounded fairly good enough, he didn't need a specific type of ally anyways. "Hmmm, tracking can certainly be useful. So I would say that you are fine as is. Sensing Ki is also a good skill to develop for yourself, so don't worry. At best I'd say keep up your training to develop yourself as you see fit." the Saiyan gave a very firm nod as he said this to his new ally, he felt it was better not to selectively control somebodies growth, everyone developed in a way unique to themselves and it meant that they would have a trick up their sleeve somebody out there didn't know. If every Saiyan fought the same way, being able to counter the strongest would let you counter every single one of them.
After giving the boy that bit of advice, however, he decided it was time to pack up and go, heading towards the exit and looking back at the boy. "Oh right, one last thing, is there any unfinished business you have here? Once we walk out of here I doubt you will be here again. Or if we ever come back it won't be for a good while." Rutaba got to the exit itself and stopped himself in his tracks, almost ready to walk on out of there if the boy said he wanted to just go. But that didn't mean they had to go just yet... whatever unfinished business the boy may have was entirely up to him.
A wise choice. This made the youth in front of Rutaba relaxed quite a bit. Something seem to say that if he said otherwise the boy probably will be in jeopardy, or maybe he'll attack, one of the two. At any case, the boy seem to be more appreciative at the notion of medical machine. He seem to be very against being healed by using ki. Should he's questioned, there will be no doubt that he'll answer. The thing is, would Rutaba like to hear it? So far, the boy's assessment to the man is that he's living in different world. Like how the boy lives in world of gloom and doom, this man lives in world that seem far better than his. He have yet given any sort of information about the man, and it honestly a sudden transfer, but the youth likes it better that way.
...Though, being told to develop himself as he want, the boy looks visibly confused.
"...Negative, I never really trained by myself. I'm always given a role, and my role is always to perfect it. To be told to do as much as I want is... probably, very inefficient. Please do assign me to a role," he would answer. Indeed, suddenly thrusting a boy that's always told to do something like this perhaps would be hard. It's like training a war dog to be a puppy. It's a bit way too late for that... or maybe, he could, but it will be a herculean task. The youth later questioned if he have some unfinished business. He would look at the arena where the body of his ex comrade lies. For a moment, there's a bit of emotions shown on his eyes, but he seem to shook it off almost immediately. He shook his head a no.
"...Negative, I was told to be integrated to your unit, effective immediately. That's why, I'll follow you."
And with that, he began to tail the man. He might be graduated, but... that hollow heart, will it finally fill?
It seemed that this boy wouldn't be able to transition into a more normal schedule, but Rutaba really couldn't blame him with how this place seemed to operate. It was quite a shame that this was how it all turned out, but the Peacekeeper decided he would take up the task. In any case, the older of the two Saiyan's would nod a bit and look up in thought afterward. "If you want a role of sorts, I would say you could focus on the heavy hitting since you were well attuned to killing blows. You won't have to train by yourself, though, I'll be right there with you." Rutaba rolled his shoulders a bit as he spoke to the boy, looking down towards him with a thoughtful look on his face as he tried to think what exactly he wanted to say. The variables were certainly all over the place, but Rutaba was more of a support fighter in terms of what he had. "In any case, we're the only two of our squad for the time being. As such, we need to make some sort of duo pairing together. As such, I could probably be a good distraction to hold someone off for you until you can hit them with a final blow of sorts." he'd do a few motions in the air as if shadow boxing, doing it more to show that they'd be fighting alongside each other in such an instance.
He'd pause after a second of reflection, however, turning to stare at the boy with another thoughtful look. "Though with me, do know that Killing Blows aren't necessary. In most cases, it is actually better to take somebody out with just enough power to disable them. This is mostly just so we can question them, though. On a battlefield, things certainly do change. But we can save such thoughts for later, I need to get you set up for training." the Saiyan gave another smile to the younger halfbreed, watching him attentively as he looked back towards the arena. The way he looked at the body wasn't like his usual self... but it was of no matter in the end, as he'd shake it off and tell him no. It was sad to know that he had to bottle things up, but there was no use trying to push him.
The excuse the boy gave as well, seemed so professional in a way that the Peacekeeper's heart melted. He needed to try and bring this boy up out of this dark hole he seemed to be nurtured into. With more than just an ounce of hope, he wished that the future would hold bright things for that boy. "Well, it should all be taken care of so far." he tried to pass that off sort of easily, heading out of the base himself with the younger hybrid in tow as they finally made it surface side. Rutaba wasted no time slowly hovering off of the ground with his ki, staring down towards the boy with another inquisitive look. "Did they teach you how to fly? If they didn't, I'll definitely need to teach you that in the training. But if they did, follow me, we're going to use the sky to travel." Rutaba spoke in a very firm way now, as if he was wanting to mentor this boy. It was in no way harsh or demanding, but rather like the voice of a tutor trying to move their tutee along. It didn't even cross his mind that the boy could have been down there for so long that the outside was foreign and bizarre to him. He'd have to see how the boy reacted to the outside in these coming moments before they head off.
"Heavy hitting... roger, I will adjust my battle style to so."
A heavy hitter needs strong type of attack, one that could break defenses, and probably type of attacks that can home in on opponent. Now with his role set, the youth seem to be slightly more content and less like a lost child. He seem to also mentally note how to proceed with his new role. Though, something caught his interest. "...You have sword on your waist, is it merely ceremonial, or do you fight with sword?" perhaps it's one of the more rare occasion where the boy showed interest on what the older man have. The boy perhaps did not quite understand how merely having sword on the waist would work in the battle.
To think that he's not to kill people though... "...That might be a bit hard. I'm trained to only kill or at least to cripple. If neither are not to your favor, you have to teach me of how to not kill, sir," he answered. To not kill, yes, it's a strange sensation that might not be something that he will be used to for a long time. But all in all, looks like it's agreed for Rutaba to train him. The youth nodded. "...Yes, that would be for the best." Although... whether he can fly or not? "...That wouldn't be a problem," he answered. The youth floats quite easily, then followed the peacekeeper. The outside world felt strange to him. It's oddly bright... yet at the same time, this does not make him happy. If anything, it felt like the shadow cast on him is much more prevalent now. In darkness, he wouldn't have any idea of how tainted he is... outside, it's all the more obvious. Even so... he decided to give it a shot... maybe it won't be as bad as he thought it would.
