Melonia lay fast asleep in her bed aboard the Cathedral of Arrogance. An entire wing of the officer's deck was designated as the Captain's suite, though mansion was a far more accurate word given the scale of the facilities. Not adhering to the standardized design of the vessel Melonia's private quarters were cavernous and spacious. A far cry from the often oppressively cramp corridors and spartan accommodations that plagued the rest of the utilitarian designed military vessel. Her quarters were located to the fore of the vessel, as far away from the roar of the engines or the constant fusion hum of the primary fusion reactors as physically possible. Large viewing windows gave a splendid look out over the vastness of space itself, though large blast screens closed over the ports in an emergency. Or, more likely, when Melonia tired of the blinding light of a nearby star pouring into her bedchamber while she was trying to sleep. Her bedroom was something of a master suite, larger than a twenty person infantry dormitory. At one hand was a massive bed, large enough for half a dozen Saiyans to comfortably fill, or one curvy captain fast asleep splayed out across the covers.
Dressed in only a thin violet nightgown and matching panties Melonia looked quite the sight, though thankfully there were none nearby to bear witness to her. Lying on her back only half beneath the covers, her lengthy hair was splayed out beneath her in a great untangled mess. Her great spiky mane less regal than normal, spreading far too much out to sides, though her ponytail was doing much worse. Without its bracelets to help hold its shape, the immense length of hair looked like a huge mess of hair squished beneath Melonia's more than generous curves. She lifted a hand to scratch at her enormous right breast, scratching an itch before rolling onto her side in her sleep. There was little Melonia did not do to the fullest in life, she trained harder, ate big, and slept harder. Like a curvaceous log she was deep in her slumber, resting amongst needlessly excessive numbers of soft fluffy pillows and thick downy comforters on a bed of the softest Nattoan silks.
Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm at Melonia's bedside rang out over and over again to alert her it was time to wake from her slumber. She groaned as the woman was forced from the resting world back into the land of the living. She rolled to her other side, pressing a pillow over her head to cover her ears. Beep! Beep! Beep! The horrid noise continued, alarm still telling her it was the crack of dawn by Natto's local time. Still pressing one of her pillows tight against her head, Melonia's tale slunk out to swish out and slap against her end table, probing for the damnable alarm. She grinned slightly when she felt it, raising the appendage and pressing the large off button on the top with the tip of her tail. Melonia let out a long sigh, silence once again filling the room. She ran a hand down her heart shaped face, as if trying to wipe away the sleep all at once. As she finished Melonia pressed her thumb and index finger to the corners of her eyes, rubbing the sleep crusties from her eyes as she mumbled incoherently to herself.
With one fluid motion the Saiyaness pulled herself upright, unrestrained bust giving a commanding wobble within her loose top. She paid it no mind, well used to her impressive assets. Leaning over to the side of her grandiose bed Melonia retrieved her Scouter from the night stand adjacent. Turning the device over in her hands she tapped a button the side of the device, along its white-grey face opposite where it connected over the user's ear. Hers was a right handed model, of the latest elite build. Accurate to power levels up to one hundred thousand, and with extra dampening rods to prevent extreme amounts of Ki from destroying it completely as the inferior models were prone to under duress. The viewing lens was a light purple shade, a favored colors of Melonia in addition to helping shade her eye against the bright light of especially potent Ki auras. Turning the device over in her hands she clipped it onto her head, cycling through opens as it booted up from sleep mode.
Melonia sent out a call to Jagai wherever he happened to be, scrolling through a myriad of contact information before finding his scouter's callsign. The device began to ring as it waited for him to answer, and Melonia dragged herself from bed, beginning to make the sheets. Humming a tune to herself as she grabbed the corners of the messy bedspread. "Jagai where the hell are you, are you still asleep?" She spoke aloud, the scouter connecting to voice mail, requesting her to leave a message. "Call back immediately, what happened to rise and shine soldiers?" At that Melonia ended the message, returning to her task. Fluffing pillows before putting them back in their proper place, straightening the sheets and folding up comforters and blankets alike. It was busy work, but she liked her bedroom clean and orderly, Saiyans had a bad enough reputation as unwashed slobs and dirty barbarians as is. Cleaning might be considered woman's work, but this Saiyan woman was more than happy to do it.
No sooner had Melonia finished making her bed than did her Scouter begin to vibrate as the profile picture of Jagai flashed across her screen. She let out a quick sigh, answering the call. "Jagai, report, I tried calling you earlier. You asleep on the job? I was told you were reliable." A silence hung in the air as Melonia could feel her assistant struggling to find words. "No, I was... preoccupied. I apologize profusely Captain, I won't let it happen again." Melonia cocked an eyebrow, walking casually towards her bathroom. "Reason?" She said simply pressing a finger to the access panel as the bathroom door slid open. "I was... actually showering when you first called. My Scouter was back in my officer's cabin, if you were wondering." Melonia chuckled, expecting far worse of an excuse. "Fine, I'll accept that. But you bet be squeaky clean, I expect you smelling like fruity shampoo when I see you." Jagi seemed taken aback, stammering through his words. "I um... well I... ah... Yes Sir! I mean, Ma'am!" The Saiyaness shook her head, and her assistant could practically sense her patience thinning. "What did you actually need Captain? I'm free now for orders."
As he spoke Melonia entered her bathroom, the room was lavishly furnished, though only a fraction of the size of her bed chambers. A large mirror graced one wall, along with a long counter top covered with feminine hygiene products. An ovular sink sat in the middle, with two handles for hot and cold water. "Jagai I want you to run down to the enlisted barracks where Bora is stationed. Go wake him up, he's probably sleeping like a log after what I've had him doing all week. Anyways his training starts today, so bring him up to my quarters at once. I should be ready by then." As she spoke Melonia looked at the ruin of her hair, shaking her head slightly in the mirror. Getting ready would take especially long this morning. "Actually, you get ten minutes of free time, then go grab Bora. I'm having a bad hair day." Jagai listened intently from his end of the call, unsure if bad hair day was tongue in cheek for something worse or to be taken at face value. With Melonia it could easily be either, or both. "Alright Captain, that gives me just enough time to stop by the mess hall and get some breakfast. I'll report back to you in a bit. Jagai out."
Melonia clicked off her own Scouter, setting it down on the counter top besides a large hair brush. The curvaceous captain moved to her shower, a large sliding glass door concealing a sizable square chamber beyond. Grout resistant tiled flooring with smooth polymer walls that whisked away water like opposite magnets repelled. Large enough for three people, though Melonia had it all to herself. She stepped inside, setting the temperature of the water on a control dial and giving it a minute to heat up. The Cathedral stored millions of gallons of water, enough to match the cleaning, cooking, drinking, and bathing requirements of every last Saiyan and every cooling system on the vessel. As a result getting hot water could take a while, even for the Captain. But unlike the poor grunts down in enlisted, her shower afforded the option to put in a request first, so ice showers were a thing of the past. Melonia lifted up her nightgown, undressing herself as she prepared for a short but relaxing shower. Massive bust falling free, she looked quite the sight wiggling off her panties. The Saiyan beauty kicked her discarded clothes towards a laundry hamper, she'd throw them in later.
Stepping into the shower, her toes wiggling as she felt the cool tile floor against her bare feet still warm from her bed. Melonia pressed a button and the water begin to spray down on her from all sides of the stall. Bathing her in a steamy hot wash of water just the temperature she liked. Melonia let it wash over her for a minute, standing there in silence just enjoying the moment. Her massive length of hair quickly soaking through causing it to hang heavy and damp against her slender back. Breathing out a long content sigh of enjoyment, Melonia reached for a bottle of shampoo she'd acquired during her time on earth. Strawberry fruit blend, at least that's what the scent on the label was called. She'd never eaten a strawberry, but it looked rather delicious based on the artwork the graced the shampoo bottle's labeling. Squirting a large dollop of pinkish hued shampoo onto her cupped hand, Melonia began to wash her great lengths of hair.
Melonia worked the shampoo evenly through her mane, adding several more dollops as she rubbed vigorously forming a frothy lather that coated every inch of her hair and began to drip down to the floor where it swirled down the drain with the waste water. Most Saiyans wore their hair quite long, and as a species they went through hair care products like most went through food. Melonia was certainly no exception, she'd bought half a dozen bottles of the shampoo she was using, and run through two of them on this trip alone so far. They hadn't even reached Earth yet, but at least once they did she could buy more. Earthling fruit made for decidedly more pleasant smelling feminine beauty products, likely because it didn't have razor sharp poison barbs that needed to be extracted first. Melonia wondered how Bora was fairing, down in the enlisted barracks. The grunts had large communal bathrooms where they'd take a bag of their belongings and jostle for the limited space at the sinks. The showers were large group style, with numerous faucets and zero sense of privacy. All tails and...third legs... swinging in the breeze as the testosterone fueled warriors washed the stench from their bodies. Saiyan men tended to accumulate a horrid musk from the sheer amount they sweated given their violet and active lifestyle. Bora was, admittedly a very big Saiyan, and he'd smell like a dead animal if he didn't bathe often. Melonia did not envy being in close proximity should that reality take credence, just imagining the pungent stench he'd give off if the warrior ignored bathing was enough for Melonia to scrub extra vigorously through her own hair.
As the Saiyaness finished scrubbing through her hair she ran it through the water, running her hands through her soaked length washing off the pink hued lather in spades. Melonia's hair was exceptionally dark, as all Saiyans of pure blooded status were. Only the hybrids tended to have bright colored hair when not in a transformed state. Hers was technically a deep shade of reddish purple, though so dark it seemed black unless catching the light just right. In the brightly lit shower stall the true color of her mane shown through, vibrant and exotic yet familiar and regal. Melonia adored her hair, a perfect fusion of her mother's deep crimson and her father's voluminously deep purple hue. She worked the last of the sudsy lather from her mane, letting it fall damply to her back as Melonia grabbed for a bar of soap. Clasped in hand she began to rub the bar of white, smooth, creamy soap across her alabaster skin. Caressing every dip and swell of her voluptuous body as she rigorously cleaned herself free from the grime of a long night's sleep and the general accumulation of dirt and grime on even the meticulously clean space faring vessel.
Starting at her neck, Melonia worked the bar across her slim shoulders. Down one toned arm and over her palm, then back up to clean the other. She scrubbed at her armpits especially well, then worked at her bust making sure to scrub deep in the valley of her cleavage before moving down to her torso. Her abdomen came next, getting a good scrub over her toned abs before moving to the sides of her narrow waist and then back up across her slender back. All received a throughout scrubbing, the soapy residue slicked away by a steady stream of heated water down to the drain below. Melonia moved to clean the enormity of her round rump, caressing her derriere with one hand as the other scrubbed. Next she got each of her hips, the sliding down to clean her more womanly places before moving down to her legs. Long and toned, with plump muscular thighs, Melonia scrubbed them well before hovering herself in the air. It allowed her to clean the bottoms of her feet, folding up cross legged as she held her body in midair. Her tail came last, getting a special washing all of its own. She had to be gentle, the appendage was still ruthlessly sensitive. Melonia made mental remark she'd held off training her tail weakness away for entirely too long. It was high time she work on that, otherwise it would only hinder her in future bouts of combat.
With her scrubbing complete Melonia set the bar of soap back on its shelf, standing in the water she rinsed herself off, pausing only to coo softly and enjoy the now tepid stream pouring down upon her. But eventually, all good things must come to an end. Melonia stepped forward, pressing a button on the console and shutting off the water in full. The last few drops trickled out, and the Saiyaness immediately felt frigid as the lack of steamy bathwater pouring down on her was evident. She quickly pressed another button, this one for drying. Vents of hot air fired on full from all sides of the stall, the hot gas washing over her to rapidly dry her body and her hair. Melonia stood it in for no less than three minutes, working volume and bounce back into her mane as she coaxed water from it's dampness and shook herself dry. Once that was done the Saiyan beauty stepped out of the shower, already missing it once she had left. Grabbing a towel from the rack that hung near the shower entrance Melonia wiped the last of herself dry, getting all the places simple hot air couldn't reach. Sliding it between her thighs and using the towel to deftly rub the length of her task. The long prehensile appendage was prone to smelling when it became very damp, and Melonia would not have herself stinking like an animal if she could avoid it. That was a Saiyan man's job, more often than not.
Melonia wrapped herself in the towel as she finished drying off, cinched tight around her bust with generous orbs of her bosoms protruding out the top of her attire, like round buns of dough rising out of a cake pan. She moved gracefully back towards her sink and counter tops, pausing only to retrieve her discarded night wear with her tail as she passed the laundry hamper. Casually tossing the garments in with the rest, Melonia moved to stand before her sink, every inch of counter top space covered in her personal effects. From dozens of brushes and combs to numerous bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Feminine hygiene products, tissues and make up supplies. Hair curlers and straighteners, gel and scrunchies. Melonia lifted a slender arm to sift through the disorganized mess, retrieving her toothbrush and then looking for accompanying toothpaste. Once the two had been acquired, she turned on the water, lowering her brush to wet itself under the stream. Then Melonia applied a small dollop of toothpaste with the squeeze of a hand. The pale blue minty concoction was thick and smelled heavily of spearmint. It tasted even stronger, as Melonia raised the toothbrush to her waiting mouth.
Brushing vigorously back and forth across her pearly white teeth, Melonia gave her smile a throughout brushing. Over molars and canines, bicuspids, and incisors. She even brushed her tongue to keep away the terrible stench of severe morning breath. Taking a mouthful of water the Saiyaness swished the mixture within her mouth, spitting it out in the sink and reaching for a bottle of mouth wash. Taking a swig of the mouth wash, feeling its strong taste in her mouth. Like alcohol and citrus fruit mixed in a horrid combination, one more horrible than germs could survive. Melonia ran the substance all through her mouth, noting it tasked not unlike some of the worse alcoholic beverages she'd consumed in her day. After a minute of vigorous she spat that too out in the sink, running the tap for a bit to make sure it all went down the drain. Reaching for a small plastic cylinder, Melonia unraveled a length of floss. No longer than a foot and a half, she spooled it around her left and right pointer fingers before getting to work.
The Saiyan beauty opened her mouth wide, lifting her hands close as she worked the floss down between her teeth. One at a time, getting between enamel to work the food scraps from between her pearly whites. Spitting out plaque and gunk alike, moving from left to right one single tooth at a time, getting them all evenly in her quest for cleanliness. As she finished the bottom Melonia moved on to her upper half, starting way in the back with her strong molars before gradually working her way forward. It took several minutes, but left her mouth truly clean feeling. She ran her tongue over the now cleaned teeth, feeling how smooth it had left them feeling. Melonia took a mouthful of water from the sink, swishing that in her mouth before spitting it and the last of the refuse out into the drain. Discarding the floss down into the trash, Melonia gave a content sigh, knowing that part of her morning routine was finally done. Looking at her reflection and her disheveled monstrosity of a hair doo, she let out a shirt sigh, knowing that part would surely come next.
Melonia looked at the battlefield of her hair, not sure where to begin with the thick mane of locks. She reached for a hair brush, opting to merely bring some order to the chaos. Brushing heavily through each length of hair, working her ponytail back into a straightened length and helping point her main haircut atop her head back into a shapely formation. Once that was done she grabbed up a comb and a blow drier, turning the device on and blowing it through her hair. Working with masterful skill to form up her hair into its traditional spiky locks. Over a foot tall projecting up from her head, and hanging down in a ponytail over three and a half feet to reach mid thigh. It took an undue amount of work, but she'd mastered this craft at the young age of ten. Saiyans had big hair, and that required big work. Melonia was more than willing to put the effort in, even if it was a lot of effort to making a grand spiky mess. Once everything was properly in place she clutched the hair of her ponytail tight, holding in place while she sifted through a drawer. Finding her favored pink bracelets, Melonia worked the end of the hair style through the twin rings. Each of her bracelets were heavily weighted, at two tons each they were incredibly dense material. Perfect for weight training, though she had several more weights to apply.
Giving herself a final inspection in the mirror, Melonia found herself approving of her appearance. She bothered not with make up, the sweat of training would ruin its looks. She hardly wore the stuff, her natural beauty more than sufficient. Though even she could admit that a well applied base coat, some eyeliner, and a masterfully applied touch of blush could bring out inner radiance upon her fair features. It mattered little, since almost no one would be seeing her today. So with that Melonia unraveled her towel, adding it to the laundry pile waiting in the hamper and making way back for her opulent bed room. Once she arrived Melonia gave a quick stretch, arching her back and scratching an inch using the tip of her furry tail. "Ohh.... that felt good..." She said contently, stepping lively towards her walk in closet. Within was enough personal clothing to open up a modest boutique, fashions from Natto and Earth alike, in addition to dozens of sets of saiyan battle armor and other military equipment. Melonia stepped inside, stroking her chin as she looked through her selection, unsure what exactly to wear. Decisions decisions, she simply couldn't choose.
The Saiyan beauty settled one something favoring comfort over anything else. She grabbed for a crop top, black to hide the stains of her sweat. The chic garment had the seal of the Saiyan Alliance proudly bore upon it in bright crimson. Next She grabbed up a pair of comfortable sweatpants, a simple grey color they would do for today. A leftover of her leisure clothing acquired from earth during her all too brief stay. A set of frilly pink panties that would flaunt her considerable derriere followed, not that Melonia expected anyone to ever see them. And an enormous sports bra rounded out the package, something to keep her obscenely large bust well in check during training. Melonia slipped on her panties first, sliding the soft fabric up over long toned legs and thick muscled thighs. Her bar followed next, lifting it over her head with both arms to slide it on down past her neck. Carefully working each massive bosom in their cup and giving it a bouncy jiggle to assure it was fast in place. Next came her sweatpants, hovering slightly in the air Melonia slid them on both pant legs at the same time. Pulling them up to over her prominent hips and wiggling her rump as they worked over her behind. Cinching the elastic tight into a knot, Melonia tested their snugness, running a hand over her flanks feeling the pants hugging her curvaceous lower half like a second skin. Last but certainly not least came her short crop top. Slipped over her bra clad bust, arms slipping through holes in the sides of the garment. It was sleeveless, covering a sufficient amount of her bust though exposing a deep value of luscious cleavage. Her midriff was bare, the shirt not bothering to cover her stomach. Soft toned flesh and feminine abs clearly visible between shirt and pants.
Melonia felt incredibly comfortable in her attire, reaching for a set of weighted wristbands and a matching set of weighted boots to add to her training apparel. Each one weighing two tons, she rolled her arm in her socket, feeling the weight of the attire affecting her every movement. It felt good, like progress, a few months ago and she could scarcely have lifted the weighs on her own. Now she'd be comfortably be wearing them under ten times gravity shortly. It'd feel good to be back in a gravity chamber, the Cathedral had numerous such chambers, though the gravity machine in Melonia's private wing of the ship was all to herself. Herself that is, and anyone she deigned fit to train with her. Stepping into the center of her bedroom, Melonia shut the closet door behind her, flicking off the lights. She did a few quick stretches in the center of her room, testing how it felt being so heavily weighted down. She was a bit less agile, but who wouldn't be. That meant it would prove all the better training when she adapted to moving flawlessly under such a handicap. And with that final gesture Melonia departed her bedroom, making for the central living room of her abode.
Her residence suite had a single large central chamber, two stories tall and split leveled to give it high ceilings and a feeling of space. There was a dining room of sorts pushed off in one end, complete with table large enough to seat a dozen close companions. A large television screen sat towards the center of the space, surrounded by an ovular conference table and a huge wraparound couch. Melonia passed through the space slowly, admiring her furnishings. She had good taste in interior design, let no one say otherwise. Though the room could do with some art to spruce up the walls. No matter, as the Saiyaness moved to the kitchenette, rummaging through her personal provisions to whip up something to eat. She had a large number of preserved foods and other nonperishable she'd brought back with her from Earth. Melonia intended to whip up a quick breakfast, something to take off the edge of hunger until it was time for a true midday meal.
Melonia wondered on where Jagai was briefly, he had to have found Bora by now. Unless he had taken his sweet time in the officer's galley getting his own meal. If that was the case she'd make him take a return trip and bring them back bacon. Melonia was a fiend for bacon, and a carnivore in all things meat. She'd even tried some on earth made from a local beast...she couldn't remember its name though. Pog? Pug? Peg? Whatever, it didn't matter, the creature had tasted delicious. And so the Saiyan Captain began rummaging through her kitchen, gathering up ingredients to prepare something to eat. Hopefully Bora would arrive after she'd finished. He seemed to have poor timing at best, and his ability to do the wrong thing at the wrong time was fast becoming the stuff of legends... or nightmares. Melonia just wanted one day with him that didn't end in disaster. Bora deserved as much, given the difficulties he'd been forced to go through in life. Word Count: 4,571
In the early reaches of the morning a man plagued by nightmares rolled back and forth in a restless state. Sweat ran down his face and chest as he clutched violently at the covers. Grunts of an almost pain and fear filled tone rang from his vocal chords with every passing second. It was a regular occurrence, one that Bora knew all to well. With a faint scream escaping his lips, Bora's head jerked up off the pillow with eyes bulging from their sockets. Short yet panicked breathes cut through the snores hung in the air of the barracks. The other saiyans who slept there, where out like lights, not even Bora's scream could awake them from their deep sleeps. Then again, most saiyans slept like a rocks. The towering saiyans gaze darted about the room as his brain tried desperately to put pieces of the puzzle together of where exactly he was.
Bora was in his new home aboard the Cathedral of Arrogance, or his supposed home. It was the first night that he would be transferred over to his quarters in the upper class barracks and while the bed he was given was rather comfortable and the largest in there, he still found it difficult to get a full nights rest. During times of anger he was vulnerable to the rage but what was even worse was that in his sleep he was weaker to the mind games it could play on his subconscious in the dream state. By pulling up some of his worst memories and causing a sadistic laugh to ring in his head caused the saiyan rub at his cheeks and massage the sides of his temple. {Perhaps I should have asked to keep the punishment of pushups... At least that way my mind would be over exhausted to even think of allowing thoughts to wonder in my sleep.} He thought to himself as he swung his legs off the side of his bed. As his feet touched down, his toes scrunched under the ball of his feet as a reaction to the freezing cold tiled floor.
He wiped the sleep from his eyes with his index finger knuckle and took a moment to slow his heart rate. Even after all that it looked as though non of the other saiyans had any problem with Bora's bad sleeping pattern even at that godforsaken hour. Seeing the digital clock on the wall flashing the 04:30 on the wall made him think that it was purposefully doing so to mock him. He scratched the back of his head and looked back down to his pillow, weighing the pros and cons of heading back to sleep. It was safe to say that he was in no mood to see those images in his head again. Instead, he rose from his bed causing a cool breeze to sweep in under his boxers. With a quick scratch of his backside he went on to make sure his bed looked respectable. One might think he was a rather messy person just from his attitude but in reality he made sure that he kept things in order. The influence from doing such mundane tasks where enforced by his mother making damn sure that both Tarnov and himself kept their respective rooms in order at all times. An unmade bed warranted a smack upside the head. A smack so hard you will be reminded to never want to try your luck again.
With that thought in mind, Bora let out a slight chuckle as he turned down his bed. Tucking in the sheets and fluffing the pillows before placing them down neatly at the head of the bed. The blankets would be folded and left at the bottom of the bed before he would walk around the feet of the beds which served as bunks to a number of snoring saiyans. It looked like some of them even broke the little policy of divided genders in dorms, with a few females being held close in cuddles by some of the men. it was a strange sight to see considering how little saiyans showed compassion and love to one another. A certain girl came to Bora's mind but he knew that in order to win her over he would have to wisen up a lot more.
He grabbed a towel from a rack at the right of the door, pulling out a fresh pair of his pants, boxers, as well as his weighted sash, not forgetting the great number of accessories which helped weigh him down, this including his boots. lastly he pulled out a toothbrush and toothpaste from a locker which was assigned to him by name. With little to no concern of anyone seeing him in his underwear, the hulking saiyan stepped out the barracks door and moved through the hall towards the bathrooms, however, he paused at the sudden realization of how quiet the city truly was at that hour. There where still lights from bars on the streets and a few voices yammering on in a drunken slur but all in all, it seemed rather quiet. A massive window which rested as the outer wall between the bunk area and the bathrooms had Bora starring out at the streets which where dotted with little lights below. It was a strange feeling to bear witness to the labyrinth of paths and buildings down on the main floor of the ship but it almost made him feel like someone of importance. Of course Bora's new job had him rather high on the ranking list , being the Captains personal body guard and all but even though he had gained the title, the entire idea still felt like it hadn't settled in his mind. It didn't feel like it was real. It was a feeling he would have to get use to.
As he continued on to the bathrooms, he was greeted with silence. The only sound which broke through the deathly silence was the faint dripping of a tap tap. The strong smell of minty shampoos and soaps burned in his nostrils along with a hint of chemicals. The towering saiyan sniffed the air like a animal searching for scents but he simply smiled as he trudged over to one of the shower stalls, leaning in and turning on the hot water tap on to allow some time for the water to heat up. After pulling back out from the stall, he remove his boxers and to set down his fresh clothes besides the stall. As steam began to rise from the showers tiled floor, Bora hung his towel over the side wall and stepped in. After doing a short little getting use to the hot water which struck hit his skin. The stalls where clearly designed for an averagely tall saiyan as it only blocked view from his knees to under his pecks, thankfully there was a plus side, that being the shower heads where cemented into the ceiling which was really good considering Bora would usually have to stand slightly forward and lean back to wet his jet black hair beneath the lower shower head placements in the lower ranked bathrooms.
For a few minutes, Bora found himself simply standing beneath the water and letting it run over his body, rinsing the sweat from his skin. The warmth he felt there was enough to put him back to sleep along with the gentle rhythm of droplets pattering on the white tiles at his feet. Realizing that today was the day that he got into proper training, Bora knew that he wouldn't be able to slack off as much as he had been. If he wanted to make Mel proud and truly be ready to protect her should something turn up, he would have to give it his all. A hundred and ten percent was out of the question. No. He needed to give two hundred percent in order to prove his worth and to make it up to her. She took a huge risk on him and in return he would show her how much he was willing to do to prove she made the right choice of keeping him around, not only as an employer but as a friend.
With that thought, Bora squeezed some shampoo from the bottle which rested on the metal shelf into the center of his palm and began to massaged it into his dark locks before going on to scrub the rest of his body with soap. After properly rinsing the sweet smelling foam from his body, tail and his head. Bora closed the taps and grabbed for his towel, going on to thoroughly dry himself off before wrapping the large piece of white cloth about his waist. He stepped out the stall and moved over to the basins on the opposite side of the room. The towering saiyans eyes set on his reflection in the steam covered mirror, a part of his nightmare crept back into his mind in a flashback like fashion.
The tempting voice of rage was urging him to get closer to the mirror. As he wiped away the condensation on the reflective glass, a face which he recognized as his own stared back at him but his eyes had no pupils and the whites of his hes looked ripe with rage and blood lust All of this was accompanied by a sadistic smile. Apart from the face seeming relatively the same, his build looked monstrous in comparison. A roar of demonic proportion spilled from the reflections mouth as the reflection took on a life of its own, thrusting its fist through the mirror and placing a vice like grip on Bora's throat. Thankfully, that would be the point at which the he would awaken. It was just a nightmare but it still made him slightly hesitant on going to wipe the condensation from the mirror this time round. Sure it was the real world but stuff like that hangs in the back of your mind. I mean what if it really did happen. "I have to get this thing out of my head... or at least try and lock it away." He said aloud before reaching for his toothbrush and paste. As he ran water over the paste which was generously applied to the soft bristles, Bora couldn't help but stare into his own eyes and contemplate on a way to fix the dark feeling he had in his heart. The only time it ever seemed properly suppressed was when Mel or Tarnov was there to speak him through it. {I will conquer you...} He declared to the rage within as he brushed his teeth, focusing quite a bit on his k9's.
With his hygiene in check, Bora went about suiting up, which happened quite quickly thanks to the lack of clothes he actually wore. First pulling on a fresh pair of jocks, then pants and topping off the bottoms with his crimson sash. His frizzy yet soft brown tail wrapped tightly around his waist as he clipped his armbands and wrist guards in place. Lastly he slid his feet into the large, golden and jewel studded boots. Giving them a quick tap of the sole and heel to get his feet comfortable. He slapped each of his cheeks and felt more alert as he dumped the dirty clothes along with the towel in his respective laundry basket.
As he stepped back into the barracks, the clock on the wall was now 05:35 looked like he still had a few minutes to spare, and why not use them to impress the Captain? He could show his determination to learn by being punctual to the meeting. He stepped out the barracks and into one of the lifts, pressing for the button for the deck which was Mel's home. He had a few minute to run a hand through his hair and think of what he would say when he saw her again but after a few seconds he let out a sigh. "I'm not going on a date with her, why am I thinking so much about this?" he shook his head with a slight blush on his cheeks, rolling his shoulder at the sound of the high pitch ding that alerted him to arriving on the desired floor.
Bora peaked out the retracting doors before walking up to the large double doors that was the front door of Mel's humble abode. He rose his fist and gave a strong, firm, knock on the door. "Captain?...It's Bora. I thought I might come a little earlier." His stomach let out a powerful growl, reminding him of the one thing he had forgotten. "I knew I was forgetting something..." he said under his breath as he knocked again, hoping that he hadn't awoken her to early or perhaps caught her during her own shower.
Melonia cracked another large egg on the end of the bowl. Each one was bright blue, nearly as large as her head. The shells alone were a half an inch thick, and the yolk inside a deep cobalt color compared to the more sky blue exterior. They were laid by a large reptile that dwelt back on Natto, and Melonia was trying her hand at making earthling dishes using Nattoan ingredients. Grabbing a whisk, Melonia began to stir the concoction into a fine blue batter. Adding in flour, milk, and a generous portion of butter. Her oven was already heating to proper baking temperature, it'd soon be ready for the delicious morsels. Melonia grabbed for a baking pan, pouring out carefully portioned dollops of batter into each of the depressions. Content in her handiwork, she opened her own door with her tail, sliding in the batter to cook with both hands. With that out of the way she grabbed for a sponge and a damper towel to clean up her mess.
Still no word from Jagai, Melonia was beginning to wonder where the hell the Saiyan had went, she'd sent him to search for Bora over fifteen minutes ago. Even if they were on opposite ends of the ship, which they weren't, he should have at least reported in by now. Melonia flicked on the burners of her oven, then grabbed for her Scouter. Tapping the button on the side she turned on the device. "Jagai, report, where the hell did you run off to?" Melonia said, affixing the device to the side of her face. Silent was her only answer initially, and Melonia couldn't help but let out a long sigh. "Jagai, I know you're there. You answered my hailing, so quit trying to play dead and tell me what's going on?" Melonia was fast growing annoyed, though she kept her mind off of it with more cooking. Reached for her refrigeration unit, Melonia grabbed a set of massive steaks as thick as her arm and as big around as Saiyan's tail was long. They'd take eons to cook, but be oh so worth it once they were finished. The shoves had a single burner each, designed precisely for this task.
As Melonia set down the steaks, bringing her stoves up to proper grilling temperature a reply finally came in over her scouter. "I can't find him... Captain. I'm terribly sorry." Melonia closed her eyes, bringing two fingers to rub the bridge of her nose. "Jagai, why exactly can you not find Bora? Have you considered you might be at the wrong barracks?" More silence came through, and Melonia contemplated how best to stem her anger. "It's the right one Captain, I've triple checked. I even found his bunk, but he's not here. And worse, none of his bunk mates seem to know where the hell he's run off to. The entire barracks is useless!" Jagai's words sounded exasperated, and Melonia refused to believe her luck. She'd break Bora's neck if he was getting in more trouble. That or remove his tail, if she felt like letting him live with his shame. "You're right, the entire barracks is useless. Including one assistant who can't find a Saiyan over twice his size." The captain shook her head, cursing under her breath. Her luck had been rotten since the moment Bora came aboard. Perhaps she was too quick to dispense any goodwill, he seemed to be squandering it every chance he got.
"Just... I don't know, continue sweeping the area. He's bound to turn up eventually, at least you had better hope." Melonia said before closing the communications line on her Scouter. Shaking her head she returned to her breakfast, pulling out several racks of bacon and pulling apart strips. Laying them out on a number of frying pans, Melonia set them down to cook, fat and grizzle coming to sizzle as they melted and bubbled. The entire kitchenette filled with delicious smells as meats cooked and pastries baked. At least Melonia could take some solace in the scent of her cooking, it took her mind of Bora's disappearance, if only slightly. She dearly hoped she need not put out a ship wide alert, and that Bora would turn up eventually. In addition to how utterly embarrassing that would prove to be, it would also be yet another blight on her record with Bora's name highlighted next to it. Melonia was up to her ears in paperwork from his last incident still, and the thought of more made her skin crawl. The woman moved to her pantry, taking out a large number of spiked green fruit to squeeze for fresh juice with her meal. The plants had a rock hard shell, though a good juicer and Saiyan strength made little work of the tough exterior.
As if the Kais themselves had answered her prayers, Melonia heard a knock on her door not long after. She set down her juicer and hovered over towards her front door. It was definitely Bora's voice on the other side as he knocked. Melonia flicked back on her scouter and called up poor Jagai again. "Jagai, good news, you aren't as worthless as I thought. Bora turned up at my residence, you can stop looking for him now." Melonia could practically hear the weight lifting from her assistant's shoulders at her words. "You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that Captain, what will you have me do now?" He asked trepidaciously, expecting the worst from his unhappy superior officer. "Just, hmm... Just go about your day as you please. I have no further instructions for you for now. Don't fall behind in your own duties though, or I'll be just as cross with you." Melonia turned back to her door, adjusting her appearance, brushing flour off her outfit and doing her best to look presentable. "Yes, of course, thank you Captain. Jagai signing off." The communication's line fell silent, and Melonia pressed a button, turning off her scouter.
Taking in a deep breath, the Saiyan Beauty opened her cabin door. Bora stood there, dressed in his usual attire, smelling more tolerable than last they'd met. He seemed freshly groomed, which for Saiyans was always a plus. "Bora." Melonia said, faking surprise. There was literally no one else on the ship scheduled to see her this day, and none would day do it by simply knocking on her door. There were proper channels to go through, subordinates to report to. Hell, managing her schedule was the better portion of Jagai's entire job. "You're early, and though I don't mind earliness, send some kind of warning next time. I could have been preoccupied..." The timer on the biscuits went off, and Melonia cursed aloud. "In fact, I technically am. Come inside, and be quick. I'm in the middle of preparing myself some breakfast." Melonia ushered the large Saiyan inside, her door sealing shut behind him. She drifted back over to her kitchen, quickly opening the oven to pull out the piping hot tray. "I trust you've already eaten if you're showing up here early? You've got a better grasp of time than Jagai does at least." Word Count: 1,210 Total Word Count: 5,781
Bora scratched the back of his head as he waited for the saiyaness to answer his call at the front door. A animal like grow echoed from his belly causing him to look down with an expression of slight embarrassment and sadness. {I seriously hope she wont mind making some extra food} he sniffed the air, his heightened sense of smell picking up the aroma of the cooking she had already begun inside. "Man that smells good." He said aloud a second before the captain opened the large front door with a greeting that seemed to hold a fake tone of surprise.
He smiled as her curves filled his eyes. The orbs in his head slowly staring her up and down, soaking her entire image. Something about seeing her caused a light to flick on in his brain and caused butterflies in his stomach. It was a feeling he had never truly had about any other person. in complete and honest truth he thought maybe he was he was just coming down with flu or perhaps his hunger pains where more than he first thought. either way she had a strange effect on him. His heart rate increased, and his chest grew tight but even so he felt extremely happy to simply be around her. "Morning Captain, I apologize for the intrusion. Next time I'll be sure to send you a message... If I have a scouter" he said before being cut off by the high pitched scream of a food timer in her kitchen. "I thought maybe if I got here early it would show that I'm more than willing to prove that you didn't make a mistake in giving me a third chance." He said in a neutral tone as he stepped through the doorway and into her home. When Mel mentioned breakfast Bora couldn't help but raise his brows and sniff at the air again. The aroma's where more intense than before and it smelled amazing.
"To be completely honest I ah... Skipped on food to make sure I was early." he said with a slightly embarrassed chuckle, his stomach once again had it's voice heard. He let out a long sigh as he bit his lip and pulled his mouth in a disapproving manner. "One step at a time okay? I'm trying my best to be a little more respectable and less of a goof but it's... gonna take a little time." his eyes glanced to the furniture within Mel's home as if trying to shy away from her eyes. She really had the place kitted out in a rather royal style but it had a certain something that looked like it was more of an alien style. Perhaps it was a welcome thought from earth styled architecture? Couches, tables, rugs and an assortments of other things which made it feel more homey. "You have a really nice home... This is probably a bad time to ask but... Might you have enough food for at least a half ration for a guest? I don't want to impose on your own meal but it smells incredible and my stomach is just about eating itself" a small smile graced his face as he followed her into the kitchen. The smell of freshly baked biscuits slapped him in the face like a ton of bricks, intense enough to make him reach for one but for the sake of keeping face he didn't. Instead he took a seat on one of the nearby stools and intertwined his fingers with one another atop of the table, giving him a slightly more formal appearance with his straight posture. Sure the bare chested attire didn't help for much in the formal department but he still looked to show signs of respect through body language.
Perhaps his new approach was going a bit far but even so he was trying. "So ah..Mel. Whats on the agenda for today's training? I'm up for anything and have actually been itching to finally get something to do other than the pushups. Maybe you could even show me that power you showed back at the galley?" He smirked. The idea had crossed his mind late in the night before. A spar with her would show him just how much he needed to strive in order to get strong enough to protect her. "We can see who has the most endurance..." He said with a mischievous grin and a playful wiggle of his brows, his statement practically teasing something dirty. His goofy, immature attitude peaked through again despite how hard he was trying to tone it down. It looked to be that even though that was the case, he couldn't entirely turn his back on the person he was. Upon realizing what he had just said, Bora rubbed the back of his neck in shame. "What I was trying to say was, it would be nice to spar with you at sometime." His voice was more sincere this time round.
Melonia sighed and she watched Bora's wide eyed stare, it was no great secret what he was thinking. It was something quite a few men, and a good deal of women thought about her too. The Saiyaness was not ignorant of her appearance, or the grandiosity of her figure. Stunning and exemplar curves betraying the fearsome warrior in possession of such a body. She could melt hearts and minds with one teasing glance, or a sultry stare, useful gifts to be sure. Though ones Melonia found she needed employ less and less as her abilities grew, and the weight of her position reflected more keenly upon her. "It's no intrusion Bora, just an earlier arrival than I had actually planned for. If you can't get a hold of me directly in the future, you can at least get word in with Jagai and he can rely it up to the chain to me." Melonia moved to gather ever more ingredients out of her fridge, knowing full well she'd be making a double order for breakfast this day. Turning back to look at Bora again as his stomach let out another rumble, she decided a triple order was far far more likely.
"Well, I can't fault you for that logic." Melonia said plainly as she hefted the armful of cooking supplies up to organize on her counter top. "It at least shows you have a lot of drive and initiative, and you aren't willing to repeat your mistakes for a third time. It shows a level of commitment most of my subordinates don't seem to possess. Laziness plagues any military or administration of sufficient size, the larger it is the more prone to internal congestion it seems to suffer from." The Saiyaness said as she went about cracking more large azure colored eggs. Already her first batch of bacon was beginning to sizzle, and the woman grabbed her spatula with her tail, coiling the limb tight around the rubber and as she moved to flip and rotating searing strips of fatty bacon to better allow them to cook. Hands still working at preparing a new batch of dough for assorted breakfast biscuits. The two Saiyans were certainly going to enjoy quite the feast on this morning. "Bora, do you know anything about cooking?" Melonia asked sweetly, grabbing a whisk to stir up the batter in a large mixing bowl.
Air pressed rapidly out of Melonia's petite nose as Bora openly admitted he had skipped out on any food so he could arrive for his training even earlier. Melonia would have rubbed at her temples, were her arms not preoccupied preparing their food. She opened the oven with her tail, pulling out the first batch of biscuits before immediately loading in the second to cook. "I appreciate the honesty." Melonia said, giving a Bora a slight shake of the head before returning to her work. "But you probably shouldn't have, since the mess halls and the galleys are all open this early, even if the selection is admittedly low. Now your prospective training is going to be somewhat delayed since I need to cook enough food for the both of us. You do like theranx steak, don't you? What am I saying, every Saiyan does, how do you like yours prepared?" Melonia chucked, turning to flip the two massive steaks, checking how evenly they were cooking on the grill before reaching into her freezer to grab out several more thicker cuts specifically for Bora. "Yes yes, baby steps and all, I'll try my best to be patient if you try your best to improve yourself." Melonia glanced back at Bora eyeing up her decorum, the open layout of her abode's main chamber giving a refreshing feeling of space. "It is a rather nice home, though it is technically not my permanent residence. The furniture isn't even mine, it's all on loan from the Saiyan Alliance Navy, if you can believe that. I wouldn't have a place to store this much stuff if it wasn't on the ship. Maybe I'll get a nice home in the Soy Capital someday, or out in the countryside. But, for now this will do."
Melonia turned as Bora inquired for food, smacking him playfully in the head with a rolling pin. "Yes Bora, you can have some of my food. I figured from the moment you stepped in I'd be cooking for two. Though it'd be nice if you could offer up a hand, things will go much quicker that way and you won't end up starving for nearly as long." Just as Melonia finished she heard her bacon sizzling to completion, and she swore aloud hoping it hadn't burned. The purple colored meat was cooked to perfection, and Melonia breathed a sigh of relief as she scooped up the frying pan from the burner. Moving to slide the bacon onto a serving plate, the Saiyaness set the plate of now piping hot bacon down on the center isle right in front of Bora. "There, a snack to tide you over. I hope you like your bacon nice and crispy. It was a cooking just a bit longer than it probably should have. But, I was interrupted by a particular Saiyan who happened to arrive entirely too early and skip out on breakfast." Melonia grabbed a long crinkled slice, popping it into her mouth and moving to start slicing up a good number of fresh fruits. Large red colored melons that were water filled and almost obscenely sweet tasting. However, they only grew in the deepest valleys of Natto and were often quite difficult to find or harvest, Luckily Saiyan farmers were a hardier bunch than most.
"Well." Melonia said, tossing a pile of rinds into her garbage disposal. "Since you asked so politely, I might as well tell you. But stop calling me Mel, we've still only just met. You're my subordinate, Security Liaison Bora, don't be so quick to forget that your new rank has not changed your place in the pecking order." Melonia bore no harshness to her words, simply pointing out facts. Her tail moved to poke Bora in the stomach accusingly as she chopped away at her fruit, her backside to him giving the saiyan warrior a healthy view of her rather large derriere. "As expected, we'll start with a good stretching regime. Get nice and limber as you adjust to two times Natto's native gravity. We'll start low, and work our way up gradually. I have no desire to tire you out all at once or overwhelm you with the first bench mark of my training." Melonia set aside more rinds, moving to her sink to clean off her knife and set it aside with the rest of the dishes. "After that we'll move on to a fairly standard work out regiment, a good battery of cardio, some upper and lower back, bicep and triceps exercises. Unfortunately for you I expect there to be a healthy number of push ups in there, though expect plenty of crunches too." Melonia gave Bora a wink as she turned to get out milk and more eggs along with butter to whip up into pancake batter.
"I have the most endurance, but I'll let you see that first hand. And I'll be gracious enough to let you fight hard for second place." Melonia's grin soon matched Bora's, though she quickly turned to begin preparing another facet of their rather extensive meal. Pausing to check the steaks, and steal another piece of bacon or two from the plate. "Once things get more serious I think we can work on honing our techniques. There are no small number of new Ki attacks I've been considering perfecting, and I'd love a willing test subject." She reached around and grabbed at her tail, squeezing it just enough to feel a stinging pinch. "And this little matter... I've been putting it aside for entirely too long. I need to start working out the weakness from my tail. How is yours Bora? I haven't seen if it's still vulnerable one way or another. I've had no need to use mine, and I haven't seen much heavy combat for it to become a liability yet. But I'd like to rectify that before I get caught with my pants down. So it'll be nice to have someone to assist with that, even if that 'training' will mostly be me wincing in utter pain."
Melonia paused as Bora admitted his desire to spar. Embarrassment clear on his as he brushed at his neck. Melonia couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the sight, moving in close to wrap an arm around his own. "And, I think we'll end the session in a sparring. Good way to knock off all the dust. I'm sure you'd love to spar with your curvy captain, so I guess I'll honor that request. I warn you though, that power you saw in the galley was a fraction of my strength. I'll be going all out today, though I will be in weighted equipment. Don't expect it to be an easier though, I'm still gonna knock you into the dirt." Melonia blew a quick kiss, turning to put the finishing touches on their pancake batter before pouring them out in perfectly portioned circles to cook. As that finished up Melonia retrieved the hot biscuits from the oven, setting them down with the first batch to finish cooling off. Their breakfast feast soon to be complete. Bora nodded when he heard the saiyaness praise him on the fact that he was not willing to make the same mistake again. He wanted to prove that he was committed to the promise he made and prove that he was at least willing to try and do better. Mel noted his commitment as she went on to move around the kitchen in a expert like manner. Multitasking at its finest, from cracking eggs to flipping the delightfully crispy strips of bacon. The smell alone would have caused the towering saiyan to reach into the boiling oil and take a piece for himself but instead he watched intently as she moved about with 3 limbs, her tail acting as the third. The question she posed to Bora by any chance knowing anything of cooking caused him to shake his head slowly. "The most I know is to hold meat over a fire and rotate... Perhaps a sprinkle of some salt but that's it. I have to say you seem to be a professional, it smells amazing." He peaked over her shoulder. His chest lightly pressing against her shoulder before he sat back down and admitted to his slip up in the area of breakfast.
He could tell simply by the look on Mel's face that she would have face palmed or pinched the bridge of her nose hearing of his stupidity but he was surprised by her appreciation for the honesty. Still, the shake of her head showed that she was still slightly annoyed by him doing such a thing. "I guess next time I'll be up even earlier and get something to eat before making an early appearance at your door? " He smiled and hoped that by taking note of his wrong doing and suggesting a solution would win back the favor in Mel's eyes. When she asked if Bora enjoyed theranx steak, he couldn't help but let out a chuckle when she came to the conclusion herself. "I like my steaks well done and you're damn right. I can't think of any saiyan that might pass up the opportunity of a theranx steak... I actually remember getting into a fight with my brother over the last steak at supper. I'll tell you what. That kitchen didn't look the same once the brawl was over. Naturally I was the victor" He said with a hint of pride and a soft chuckle before staring down at his hands. "Good times.." his voice echoed a slight tinge of sadness but was zapped away when he heard Mel's chuckle. "They look they're coming along nicely. Flattery aside, Captain. I must say you are quite the all in one. Strong, beautiful, killer cook and enjoyable to be around..." He stared at her as he rested his chin in the palm of his hand as if he was wondering off into a day dream. He shook his head and came back to reality "Where was I going with this?..." It slipped his mind as a small drop of sweat ran down his cheek. he quickly turned his attention to the homes decor and commentied politely on it.
He was surprised at how she seemed to wave the residence aside. Sure she didn't plan on living there for long but it was plane to see that there was quite a bit of effort put into its creation. "It is nice, I don't ever remember seeing something much like it. If you do by chance get a home in the soy capital I hope you will keep a similar style to this, it's... Cozy" He snickered again, hearing a word like that exit his yap sounded rather strange. If he wasn't careful he might be labelled as a gentle giant.
Thankfully he would not be left to starve and Mel had already made up her mind to prepare him some food too. He should have guessed considering the other slices she had pulled from the freezer. "I appreciate it. I'll try harder to make sure I get myself fed in the mornings... Then again what you've shown so far. I might just pretend now and then to forget. It really does look good." he said with a smirk as the plate of crispy bacon was set down on the counter in front of him. "I can try and help, just giving me the orders and I'll be sure to do what you need, just keep in mind that in smaller spaces I tend to be clumsy." he admitted shamefully as he placed two strips of bacon in his mouth. The taste was wondrous and his eyes went wide with shock. "This is incredible!" he said with delight as he shoved another three bacon strips into his mouth.
In between bites Bora inquired as to what they might be doing in terms of training. In truth he was happy to finally get back into a proper training routine instead of being stuck in a single form which was only causing his arms to grow in size. If he had gone on any longer, he might have trained his arms into a size larger than his own waist... A scary thought, indeed.Bora nodded in acceptance of the saiyaness's request that he not call her by the nickname, Mel. It was a tad early to call each other nicknames when they where still rather newly antiquated. "Security Liaison Bora... Has a nice ring to it, captain... i'll refrain from calling you Mel... for now." He gave a joking salute as he was gently poked in the chest by Mel's tail.
The towering saiyan's eyes began to wonder over Mel's curves once more especially when her back was towards him. She made it difficult not to look even though she was in no way trying, even when she went on to explain the extensive training scheduled. Starting off with stretching was of course the best and most logical thing to do but Bora thoughts where still elsewhere when he pictured Mel stretching in his mind. With a violent shake of his head, he tried to remove the dirty thoughts. A blush gracing his cheeks as he looked away in attempts to hide the redness of his face. He focused on her words and listened intently to the rest of the plans. "Sounds like a solid regime. I already look forward to it... Almost as much as this meal." He commented on the side.
When Mel got out more ingredients, Bora felt that then would probably be a good as any a time to help out. He gave a sneaky smirk before spotting a bowel in the cupboard. With the power of telekinesis he lifted the glass holder and set it down besides Mel, cracking two eggs into it the bowel without moving so much as an inch from his stool.
Mel grinned with acceptance at the challenge and promised that she would prove she was the one with the most endurance. Bora knew full well that he was going into a a spar that he was destined to lose but welcomed the challenge. He was glad to hear that they would be working on new techniques."So I'm the guinea pig?" he chuckled. "I think I can handle it, throw your best at me." he said with a confident smile before narrowing his eyes at her next statement of the weakness in her tail. "The tail grabbing no longer phases me, found out that it would be a liability in the early ages of capture." he stuck his tongue out at her and gave a slight wink in response. "I'm sure you will be able to work through it in no time at all, there will definitely be a lot of wincing , grunting and moa- This really sounds like I'm explaining another activity... THAT ASIDE! It will be painful but we can go slow." he said with a nod.
Bora's eyes went wide when he felt Mel's smaller arm hook in with his own she went a little further by teasing him and noting that the power she had let him see was but only a fraction of her true power. The quick kiss which she blew at him caused a feeling of butterflies to flutter in his chest. "I look forward to it... Curvy Captain." he let out a soft snicker. "Trust me, I wont be a pushover so don't underestimate me" His stomach growled once more. "It's almost ready bud" he looked down at his gut as if he was addressing it as a living being before stuffing a few more bacon strips into his mouth. "I have a feeling today will be really good... Say, Captain." He paused as he thought through his words. "Whats was the Military school like? It's probably a dumb question but I'm curious."
Melonia let out an all too familiar sigh when Bora admitted his knowledge of the culinary arts extended to cooking meat over a fire like some unwashed barbarian caveman. Given his upbringing, she guessed that much more couldn't be expected of the burly Saiyan warrior. He'd spent the vast majority of his childhood in a fighting arena, and had very little actual military training and almost no parental upbringing. A far cry to weekend mornings where Melonia had helped her mother cooking breakfast or teenage years spent going hunting with her father as they brought down tyrannical beasts from the Nattoan countryside to have clean and gut for steaks and other lean meat for later. "Well, that's better than some I suppose. I've met Saiyans utterly incapable of feeding themselves, so the fact you can cook meat at all is quite frankly, a bit of a miracle in and of itself." Melonia averted her eyes and blushed slightly as Bora complimented her food's smell. She pretended to distract herself by flipping the pancakes, making sure they were cooking to an even golden brown color. "That's... very sweet of you Bora. I'm hardly a professional, I just tend to cook on my own a lot. I'm very self sufficient, and my mother taught me most of what I know. It's as close as a hobby as I have, and a pretty useful one given how much our race tends to eat." Melonia spoke sincerely, and paid it no mind when Bora brushed past her as he slipped into her kitchenette.
Bora gave a smile as he asked if it would be more acceptable for him to simply get up even earlier before training in the mornings. Melonia thought for a moment on an answer, moving to flip the steaks again, poking them with a meat thermometer to check on their respective temperatures. They had to cook evenly after all, and she needed to be absolutely sure that any harmful Nattoan parasites had been thoroughly snuffed out by the flames. It was a harsh planet, with harsher wild life, even with modern meat packaging industries one could never be too certain what slipped through the cracks. "You could do that if you like, I'm not your mother, I don't care how early you decide to get up, so long as you don't show up late. Take as much time to eat as you want, just make sure you remain punctual." She knew she might regret what she said next, but Melonia regretted a lot of things when dealing with Bora, this would be just another on the pile. "But... If you simply want to come directly over to my residence, give me some kind of advance notice so I can prepare enough food. I don't want cooking breakfast to cut into our training time like it will today. Understood?"
Melonia returned to cooking her steaks, listening to Bora talk on about a story of himself and his brother. Younger brother...wasn't it, she couldn't remember. But if he was close to Bora's size they'd be quite the pair if they were every in the same room together. Melonia dearly hoped she'd never have to feed them both, her budget wouldn't survive such devastation. Even with just Bora she had her doubts how long the contents of her kitchen would last, and space wasn't known for a generous selection of grocery stores to restock their pantries. "Steaks well done then, although. You can have the first pair, they've been on longer, though I'll need to let them cook a bit more. I like my streak medium personally, medium rare if it's a premium cut. I guess I inherited father's taste for his meat bloody red." Melonia's mouth watered slightly, and she pressed a large fork into what was now officially Bora's steaks, watching the juice push out of the holes and sizzle on the grill. "Oh these are coming on nicely, I have no doubt in my ability when it comes to cooking meat. Maybe I can even improve the skills of yours beyond just meat plus split roast equals food." Melonia reached up to her spice cupboard for some seasonings to dash lightly over top of the meat. "Teach you a thing or too about seasoning as well, there's far more options than just adding salt." She paused, giving a slight grin. "Although salt is rarely a poor choice for adding more favor."
The Saiyan beauty paid no mind to Bora's compliments, which now wavered precariously on flirting. She'd heard it all before, were they ignorant of her title she'd be propositioned and catcalled by most of the men on this ship...and a fair number of its women too. Melonia had many years to come to term with her own beauty, and she wielded it like a deadly weapon when the time called for it. "The flattery never seems to be aside Bora, at least with you it seems. Although I do appreciate it, really I do. No one dislikes a compliment, though I'll be the first to admit I have heard almost all of them. Not many get a chance to appreciate my cooking though, so I'll at least give you that." She turned to look at Bora, watching a bead of sweat roll down his face before he turned to stare off into her foyer behind them. "I'm not sure where you were going with that, but I can hazard a few guesses." The Saiyaness said teasingly, moving to take out the second batch of biscuits, the room filling with their scent as she opened the oven door with her tail to slide the tray out.
Bora seemed to have no end to his praises for Melonia, commenting on the decorum of her Captain's accommodations. Sure the style was a bit opulent, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. It brought no small measure of joy to her heard that someone else appreciated her interior decorating, though she wasn't going to openly admit it. "If you hung around with the mercantile elite in the capital, or any of the senior military officers you'll see a similar style throughout their homes. It is rather cozy, though I've had to deal with slightly limited work space given I have but one deck of an admittedly very large ship, rather than an entire manor at my disposal." She shrugged and returned to squeezing out more fresh fruit juice. "But, I still do my best. I'm glad you like it, I find this the only place on the ship I can truly relax after a long day." That much was certainly true, as Melonia frequently wandered around her quarters scantily clad, enjoying the privacy afforded to her. It was a far cry from her years sleeping in the crowded accommodations of an enlisted troops' barracks. Bunks pressed up as close together as they reasonably could be, the air stinking of sweat and testosterone. It was a less than enjoyable time, but it had been a necessary one as she went through the Saiyan Military Academy.
As her companion ate from the plate of bacon set out before him his face went wide eyed and that was all the satisfaction Melonia needed to know Bora would thoroughly enjoy her cooking. "I already told you, either make a genuine effort to feed yourself from the galley, or at least give me warning what your plans are the night before. We also might not have enough food here to last the full trip if I have to keep making meals quite as large as this, so take that into consideration." Melonia smirked as Bora shoveled more strips of crispy bacon into his mouth, and she snatched another pair for herself. If she wasn't quick it'd be gone before she knew it, it would seem. "I'll make a note to make more bacon in the future, too bad I already cleaned my skillet and put it away." The curvaceous Saiyaness said in a carefree tone as she gathered up the chopped fruit and set the large bowls down on the isle. "Two fruit salads, about the laziest thing you'll ever see me cook, if you can call it that."
"If you're going to be clumsy around to kitchen I suggest you stay right where you are. I'm a well oiled machine when I get into the zone, so I'd rather not have you bumping into stuff and taking up space. I'll work faster if you let me do my thing, just enjoy the food." Melonia said somewhat sternly at Bora's offer to help. The larger warrior continued talking, taking some small measure of pride in his new title, a far step up from Private. Certainly a big step up from position terminated, or court marshaled by commanding officer for gross insubordination. "I'm glad you enjoy the title, since it's almost entirely fluff. I just need to keep you on a short leash, and we both know I'm the stronger of the two of us. So if push came to shove, I'd be the one protecting you." She gave a sly grin as Bora saluted his Captain. "That's what I like to see, some discipline out of you. Maybe next time you screw up I'll make you hold that salute until you can't feel your arms anymore."
With the first set of steaks sizzling to completion, Melonia grabbed a steak knife and prongs and slid the massive hunks of meat onto a platter to serve to Bora. Cooked to perfection, well done like he'd requested. An even grey color all throughout, with a generous amount of juices pooling around the meat on its plate. She placed the hearty meal before him with a slight flourish, rather proud of her work. Bora's face looked quite flushed though, eliciting a puzzled response from the captain. "Something wrong Bora? I'm glad you're looking forward to it. And do tell me how the steak is, I always worry I under cook a well done." At that Melonia turned around to resume cooking the rest of her meal, to which Bora demonstrated his apparent telekinetic abilities. Melonia was somewhat shocked, watching the objects in question magically go about their work. "Well well..." She said, rather impressed. "I wasn't aware you were psychically gifted, don't take it as an insult, but you never struck me as telekinetically gifted. More... punching and kicking oriented. Have you been hiding this trick for me this whole time Bora? Or is this a recently acquired technique?" Melonia snatched up the egg shells, tossing them away. "I can't say this wouldn't be helpful for doing chores around the house, you might be useful after all." She teased, giving a pop of her hips and turning to give a seductive wink.
Melonia's face turned puzzled when Bora added his next comment on their soon to be workout. "A what? Bora is that some animal I've never heard of before? What on Natto is a Guinea Pig?" Melonia paused as the wheels in her head turned, trying to decipher his words. "Yeah...I'll throw my best at you. Don't worry about that." She said simply, still recovering from the odd choice in expressions. "Hmm...so now weakness at all. I'll hold your word to that. I imagine you've been dealing with your tail being in danger for most of your life." The Saiyaness' gaze turned cold and she placed her hands on her prominent hips as Bora continued talking on about their tails. Sticking out his tongue like a child as he alluded to sex. "Mmhmm... I promise you I don't moan, at least in the gravity chamber. There's only one place I moan, and I have no plans to see you there. So you can keep those thoughts right in your mind where they become." Even his statement after the aside sounded like an allusion. "Painful and slow, just the way I like my training." Melonia said simply, voice dripping with sarcasm as she returned to finishing her meal.
"You look forward to everything I do." The captain said as she pulled away from Bora, seeing the punch drunk expression on his face that even minimal teasing had provoked. "I don't expect a pushover, you have nothing to worry about on that wrong. In the same vain, don'y expect me to go easy on you, because I will be beating my earlier frustrations with you out. I intend to direct most of that toward's that handsome face of yours, maybe I can smack some sense into you." Melonia turned back to her grill, checking on her own steaks. They were just about ready, so she got the rest of her food ready. The two trays of biscuits were scooped out of their pan, into a large bowl and served alongside a bowl of butter with a spreading knife sitting with. That found a new home on the isle, followed by the plate stacked high with pancakes for Bora, and a second slightly less high for Melonia. She reached into the cupboard for a bottle of syrup and set that down within reach of Bora's hands. "I have jelly too if you put that on your pancakes. I'm just a syrup girl myself." Next the Saiyaness got her own steaks and set them down on a platter as she licked at her lips. Setting that down on the isle she returned to turn off everything in the kitchen, wiping down her dirty implements and tossing them into the sink.
Melonia had finally finished cooking, setting down at her seat next to Bora on a stool of her own. Her tail reached out and coiled tenderly around his as she sat. "Any good day starts with a good meal, and I consider myself quite the chef. So take that with what you will." At that Melonia began to carve into her steak, taking big meaty bites as she happily ate from the first of her steaks. Reaching for a biscuit to butter she took a bite of that as Bora spoke. "The Military, well, it wasn't easy, that was for sure." Melonia said as she swallowed, carving more bites from her steak. "It was well structured, every day was disciplined heavily and any offense was met with severe punishment. But we trained hard, and learned an enormous amount about combat and the martial arts. It's where I developed my signature technique, and I remember being quite the trouble maker in my earlier years. A few bouts of cleaning the latrines and they tend to force the order back into you. So there's that." Melonia carved a bite from her pancakes, but not before drenching them in a thick layer of syrup. "I also was my academy's resident underground boxing champion, so there's always that." She said as the captain took a drink from her fruit juice, before digging back into her pancakes with eager glee. Word Count: 2,500 Total Word Count: 9,874
Bora could have sworn he saw the saiyaness blush from the compliment he gave on her food, though she quickly hid her face by continuing on with other tasks to prepare food. The towering saiyan smirked but said nothing of it. The Captain was probably the last person who would want to be called out on such a thing, besides, Bora felt happy knowing she appreciated the compliment. "You shouldn't sell yourself so short. It's really good, honest." he said in response as he brushed past her and took a seat, continuing the conversation on to his schedule of the mornings.
The saiyan watched as Melonia flipped the steaks once more, the delicious smell filled his nostrils as the meat sizzled in the frying pan. Bora knew nothing of the patience and the care which was needed in order to cook a meal but from what he could see with Mel's display was that it actually required quite the dedication for the preparing of the meals. Bora was more likely to poke a stick through the food and hold it over a bright flame, then again he never seemed to get the same smell or taste as the food the Captain had made so far. Amidst the careful preparation, Mel responded to his question with a rather straight forward answer of wanting nothing more than him to be punctual, however his brow had to rise at the mention that he could come and have breakfast with her from time to time so long as he send word first. He smiled with glee and nodded profusely "Understood , Captain. I'll be sure to send word and still be ready for the day ahead." honesty hung from his lips as he went on further to reminisce on past memories of him and his brother. Without realizing it the hulking saiyan seemed to drift off in the memory but was snapped back to reality at the sudden pop of oil in the pan, Giving him a chance to explain how he liked his steaks prepared.
The towering saiyan cracked his knuckles at the mention of him getting the first set of steaks and grinned. "Thanks, seems like each minute that passes I get more and more hungry." He licked at his lips and swallowed in hopes of curing his dry mouth. He couldn't help but chuckle though when Melonia went off into her own day dream of medium rare streak. When Mel finally came back, she offered the idea of giving the oaf a few pointers in terms of cooking. Bora tilted his head as if contemplating his answer. While he was content with his simple methods, it was always good to improve, right? He shifted in his seat and rotated his ankles in slow motions as if he was loosening them for the spar that was soon to come. "I think that sounds like a good idea. I won't ever push away, a chance at bettering myself. That includes, cooking. Maybe after I pick up a few things from you, I could be the one making you breakfast?" He smiled. "Although that would be a far off thought." He snickered at himself before going off in a clueless tangent of compliments to the captain and supposed chief.
He mentally slapped himself at realizing how stupid he was acting. He knew his attitude was regularly goofy but this time round he seemed to just be down right dumb. "I'm glad you appreciate the compliments but I should apologize all the same. I honestly don't know where I was going with that..." He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. A sweat drop ran down his cheek as his eyes looked up from his hands to the Captains voluptuous figure. Thankfully when Mel turned back and responded to him, it was more with a teasing voice than one of her sarcastic statements. The hulking saiyan let out a sigh as he stretched out his back and slowly reverted to his normal seated position with a smile. The pleasant aroma of the biscuits that the saiyaness had removed from the oven caused Bora to sniff at the air like a wild dog once more.
As the tray was set down, Bora sneakily waited for Mel to turn away before pulling a biscuit over to him with the invisible force of telekinesis. As she turned to face him, Bora quickly hid the entire biscuit in his mouth and nodded along as she spoke of the styles which had inspired her specific apartment/ home decor on the ship. He savored the sweet taste before swallowing. "Others get whole manors on the ships? That's crazy" He said softly as he looked back at the size of the apartment. In all honesty this had to be the largest home he had ever stepped into. "Seems quite big even so and you definitely made it a nice place to put your feet up at the end of the day " he chuckled "Better than being down in the barracks. Then again, you earned this. If I ever wanted to get something this big I'd have to do the same." He spoke sincerely as he grabbed a few more pieces of the crispy bacon.
Seemed that each time he took a piece, his stomach would crave for another and another. He slowed down realizing he had almost polished them all off and Mel had hardly had any. "Please do. These really are delicious, I don't think any saiyan chief has managed to make them this...perfect" he bit into another. Hearing her mention fruit salad made Bora chuckle. "To make fruit salad is practically going out of your way. Not a lazy dish at all. I mean it's not often that I see saiyans charging into line to try salad of any kind, but still, it doesn't mean it isn't nice to have once in awhile." he said, brandishing a smile before offering to help around the kitchen.
The saiyaness was quick to dismiss the thought and went on to state he should rather stay with his new title instead of changing it to assistant chief. He welcomed the idea and reflected on the sound of it. Sure it was a glorified title of bodyguard but even so he was happy with it. BHe got to protect the Captain, what else could he possibly ask for in a job... other than perhaps being able to work with his brother. He accepted her sly threat of keeping him in line by making him hold a salute. "If I was to do that, please place me in the center of a water feature. At least then I could look like a fine statue." he retorted, basically implying that should he be punished in such a way, he would hold the stance for however long she wanted him to. It once gain showed his utter devotion to his training and his loyalty to her word.
Thoughts of punishment sailed away when his eyes once again set on her body. This time caused him to blush heavily, what made it worse was that the Captain noticed his strange state. He shook his head and his eyes bulged with delight at the perfectly cooked slices of meat, hopefully it would also distract her from his dirty thoughts. His mouth visibly began to water as he forcefully took a bite at it. The way in which he did so looked savage yet in saiyan customs it was all but natural. "This... is...amazing!" he yelled with awe "This has to be the best theranx steak I've ever had." he said in between bites. His honesty shone through with his facial expression with every bite. With a break in between the delicious meal, Bora decided to let the cat out of the bag with his demonstration of telekinesis.
Mel seemed quite impressed with the clever display. "I don't take it as a insult" he paused with a snicker. "Turns out psychic abilities can be trained just as well as any attack however it requires time and a good grasp of ki manipulation. I managed to teach myself during nights of my punishment. While I did push ups, I decided to train my mind in accordance. In all honesty the only reason I decided to try it out was so I could help you. You wouldn't need to move when you where seated on your "throne" " he put emphasis on the last word and smirked at her. "Small objects are relatively easy to move but I haven't quite gotten the chance to practice on massive objects... like a mountain." He smiled and at her seductive display of teasing. "If that's the one way I am useful, then so be it."
The conversation migrated to that of Bora strange metaphor. "In truth, I don't even know what it is. I remember a alien that used the metaphor back in the arena. He looked like us only, no tail.... Now that I think about he might have been a Earthling." he scratched his chin and tilted his head in thought "It's a possibility considering the poor sod was pretty much torn apart by a Uchūoni... and we all know they're practically cannon fodder when it comes to battle." he said with a cool smirk. The towering saiyan moved the conversation on and even pushed that during the spar, Mel hit him with everything she had. His dirty comment managed to get him put in his place by the proud saiyaness. He snickered at how composed and easily she waved him off but he took it all in stride and waved off his terrible attempt at being funny. "Good, guess we have the same outlook on training then. If you aren't in pain, you aren't doing it right. If you're not fighting through pain for an extended period of time, you're really missing the point of training." he said with a nod as he downed the rest of his juice.
His face went into a stupor of shyness at her next few teasing words but it slowly faded as Mel urged on the fact that she would be taking out her past frustration of his mistakes on him in the battle. "I'd expect nothing less..." he scratched the back of his head in shame. "Only fair you finish off the punishment you took away." He smirked at the statement she made on his face handsome "Handsome am I? And here I thought I had an ugly mug." He retorted, remembering she had said that days ago in a fit of anger and frustration.
Bora's eyebrow rose as Mel set a bottle of syrup in front of him along with the rest of the food she had baked and cooked up. "Um... I never had syrup before... I thought pancakes where meant to be eaten as is." He said with a slight pause as he lifted the bottle into his hand and slowly squeezed the thick gooey syrup on top of the massive stack of pancakes. "I'll say one thing. It looks a lot nicer with syrup" he put down his half mauled steak and placed a few pancakes on a side plate before swallowing the entire stack. He gave a pause before grinning from ear to ear and went on to pick up a fork and place another stack into his mouth. "Syrup makes it so much better. It was so dry before." He went on to shove another stack in his mouth. With those last words Mel had finished her cooking and went about cleaning up before taking a seat besides Bora.
What happened next was the one show of intimacy between the two saiyans, yet funnily enough it was never spoken of. Bora smiled warmly as his larger, fluffier tail coiled about Melonia's soft thinner tail. It was these few moments that Bora felt a strong connection to the captain yet he never said anything about it for fear of losing out on them. "With a meal like this I'm sure I'll be ready for the day." he commented before digging into his steak once more yet offering the last three pieces of bacon to her without so much as a word, almost as if he was handing her gift like a male animal to a female.
Bora went on to ask Mel about her time in the saiyan military. He did his best to focus on her answer as he gnawed away at the various delectable items of food. "Perhaps I should look into doing courses... So I could be less of a... fool?" He suggested but in truth it was more a pipe dream than anything else. Besides the fact that he was a bodyguard and wouldn't have much time to actually go through school, he also would be a man among boys in the first few years of the school. He was surprised to hear Mel was the champion of an underground boxing ring though "Sheesh... so you really are a force to be reckoned with... I mean I would never have doubted it but, champion? I've got my work cut out" he began to rethink the possibility of him getting out training alive. His tail gently began to swing back and forth with Mel's.
Melonia smiled to herself as Bora complimented her cooking. "I suppose you're right, maybe I am selling my short. Cooking is a bit of a hobby, since you know how much our race likes eating, I decided it would be best to get good at the 'preparing' food part." She had to admit, it was rather fun cooking, more so for two. It let her multi task as she worked, juggling all sorts of tasks and putting her opposable tail to good use. Melonia found she had few true passions outside of battle, she wasn't much one for sports and though reading was interesting, her taste in books was finite. Cooking was something she could practice any time anywhere, so long as she had ingredients and patience. That and it was a very practical hobby to have.
As Melonia served up Bora's steaks she could see clearly the hunger in his eyes, the big man could likely eat her out of house and home if he tried. Though they were both Saiyans, so that was to be expected. Still, Melonia's pantry was going to be battle weary after feeding someone who likely weighed over four times as much as it's previous sole user. "So you agree to send word early? That sounds like an admission you'll be joining me for breakfast from now on. Don't answer that... I already know the response." Melonia rolled her eyes, knowing damn well Bora wanted free food and her company, especially the latter. "As for your hunger, that's the way it works dumbass. Every minute you go without food you'll only get hungrier. So eat up." Melonia snickered in turn, pointing out the obvious as she called Bora an idiot. Despite her words there was only a teasing harshness to her words. She perked up slightly as Bora accepted her request to learn the basics of cooking. "I'm glad you decided to take me up on my offer. It'll be worth your while I'm positive. And always seeking self betterment is a good position to have, regardless of where you are in life. But I'm not letting you breakfast anytime soon. You can just... I don't know, make yourself snacks or something."
At one point Melonia turned her back to Bora and when she returned he'd manage to shove an entire biscuit into his mouth, chewing like an animal half starved before swallowing as she spoke. "Chew first, then swallow Bora. Little bites, the food's not going to run away any time soon. This isn't a damn mess hall you know?" She ran a hand down her face, shaking her head at the towering warrior's continued antics. He was a piece of work, and Melonia was constantly caught in a trifecta between embarrassment, laughter, and disappointment when it came to dealing with him. "Manor is a bit of a misnomer, the officer accommodations are rather large. But they aren't anywhere near as grand as something you could build back on Natto. Either way they are rather spacious, though mine is the largest by a half. Earned is also a bit of a strong wording, I earned the position as captain, but not I must prove I am fit to continue holding that title. Does that make sense to you?" Melonia also reached for another piece of bacon before Bora simply ate them all. "If, or when you get your own ship, you can furnish it however you please. Which knowing you, both excites and horrifies me. And yes, it is a big step up from the barracks, but a cardboard box that says 'Huose' on the side would be a step up from some of the barracks I've seen in my time."
"Fruit is a vital part of our diet Bora." Melonia corrected as he commented on Saiyans and their general dislike of salads. "We need our vitamins and minerals just like any other animal. And as tasty as meat and beer is, it's not exactly the healthiest of diets. Besides, there are some truly delicious species of fruit out there." At that Melonia returned to preparing their meal, leaving Bora to muse on her thoughts. Proper diet was important for any soldiers, even a Saiyan. An overweight soldier was one ready to be a detriment or more likely be horribly whipped into shape by his commanding officer. Nothing a few hundred laps and back breaking numbers of crunches couldn't fix. Or just break their jaw, that usually stopped people from putting on weight. She did however roll her eyes heavily as Bora commented on being part of the statuary should she force him to salute. "Only if it has good ergonomics." Melonia commented plainly, as if she was considering the option seriously.
Melonia could ceaselessly feel Bora's eyes wandering along the length of her figure, drinking it in like a sponge to water. His attitude changed in a moment once she presented him with his steaks. He ate like a wild beast, which wasn't far off considering his appearance. It didn't take Bora long to voice his adoration, to which Melonia could only smile and curtsy in her apron. "I do my best, luckily for you my best is pretty damn good. I'm glad you like it, but try to pace yourself. Those won't grow on trees now that we left Natto, you actually should consider pausing to taste the meat. Not just inhaling it like its the last food in space." Her words a now familiar teasing as Melonia moved to finish preparing her own meal to eat.
Truth be told Melonia was rather impressed with Bora's quickly learned telekinesis, both because it proved he had the mental fortitude to learn such a technique, and that he could apply himself diligently enough to learning new techniques of his own accord. Psychic abilities required some of the most mental fortitude and focus to achieve, even a small display showed great levels of mastery. "I'm impressed." Melonia said simply, listening to his elaboration. "Truthfully I wouldn't have thought you had that in you. And your thron--- Oh, ha, I suppose it did look a little like that. Well we should add working on other psychic techniques to our training regiment then. They're rarely not useful, so it would be more than wise of us to master at least a few." Bora's last statement took Melonia by surprise. "Despite how harshly I treat you, you are useful in more ways than that. If nothing else you are a capable warrior, one who I think simply lacked discipline for most of his life. I intend to change that, and make something great out of you."
Bora's remark on Earthlings in the arena made more sense than any other explanation, and Melonia wondered what else he'd seen living in that pit. "Quite the story, and that does sound rather like an Earthling. They are like unremarkable Saiyans at a glance. I intend to make you eat those words though when we train, so keep that in mind after a kick to the head so sharp you hit the ground like a ton of bricks." The larger warrior's eagerness was appreciated, by there were limits to what was most prudent for him to do. If push came to shove Melonia hoped to teach him the art of restraint, since Bora seemed to go full stop into all of life's problems. The man seemed to have two distinct settings, success and failure. With him there was never a middle ground.
"Ugly mugs can be handsome." Melonia said sternly when Bora pushed the subject. "Under a certain light. A woman is supposed to be beautiful, it's in our nature as the fairer sex. Men can pull off rugged, hardened, stoic, brutish, or even more pleasant words like dashing and charming. It all depends on the circumstances." Truthfully she hardly remembered the insult, the Saiyaness tended to ignore the negatives in her life and focus only on the positive memories. It was simply easier that way, she had no time for dwelling on the past. Bora's declaration about syrup soon had her snickering though. "You're serious aren't you? Oh my... Syrup definitely helps, though I've heard of others putting butter, jelly, jams, even honey on their pancakes. Honestly can you can do whatever you like, though I can't say I have all those things readily available in my stock. Maybe the Earthlings have their own versions we can buy. Some of their animals were very similar to Natto's own." Bora seemed to greatly enjoy the pancakes regardless, given he hardly took the time to chew them, or taste them. In traditional Saiyan sense he was a black hole for food, it was actually intimidating all things considered.
Melonia let out a soft sigh as Bora accept her tail and wove his own around it. Being as large as he was his tail was nearly as thick as Melonia's arm, which was an impressive feat, as Melonia's tail was far from scrawny for her size. Still, it was only about as thick as her slender wrists, so it was rightfully dwarfed by Bora's bigger appendage. It was a gesture of intimacy between two Saiyans, normally reserved for close friends, or more. In some cases siblings would do so to feel comfort, though generally only when they were still young. It was rare for Natto born Saiyans to do this when they were small, given how they spent good portions of their youth growing inside nutrient vats while hooked up to a gauntlet of wires that fed them information. Only once they'd reached the point they could walk were the young Saiyans returned to their parents to be brought up as a child. "Bora..." Melonia said sweetly. "Something tells me you'd be ready for the day even if I fed you a bag of rocks. The worst part is I'm sure you could eat them too, if you had to." When Bora handed over the remaining bacon Melonia smiled sweetly, shaking her head slightly at the display. She took two pieces in hand and pushed them towards Bora's mouth. The third she kept for herself, quickly popping it into her own mouth and devouring it quickly. "Eat up fool, you said you were hungry." Melonia replied as her free hand reached for her fork, spearing a bite of her own steak.
The inquiry on taking some military courses couldn't help but make Melonia chuckle, she resumed cutting large chunks of her steak, her tail squeezing Bora's lightly in its grip. "Don't bother, it wouldn't help with your foolish behavior. You're also a good deal stronger than any cadet, and most of the instructors. Trying to figure out exercise, training, or sparring for you would be an administrator's worst nightmare. All the material you would need you have access to, it's all on the ship's infranet. Anything else you'll just end up learning in the field. So don't sweat it too much." As Bora began to swing their tails back and forth Melonia leaned over and gently punched him in the arm. Not even enough to feel, in truth a wholly playful gesture. Her tail also did nothing to stop the display, which she secretly found entirely too adorable to ever say no too. "I was a bit of a force yes, and the fact you doubted it was one of my greatest strengths. I was a rather short lived champion, it took me three years to earn the title. I ended up fighting to a clean draw with a rival from another school. We messed each other up something fierce, took so long to recover we ended up losing our respective titles to newcomers." Melonia sighed, remembered a youth well spent. "No expects the most buxom chick in the room to deck you harder than the biggest guy. I won a lot of victories because people underestimated me. So yes, you do have your work out. Which is why you should hurry up and finish your breakfast. It's going to a very long day ahead of the two of us." Word Count: 2,026 Total Word Count: 11,900
Bora nodded in a agreement "I promise to always send word, Captain and ye-" the hulking saiyan was cut off by Mel, noting that she didn't want him to answer her second question, all he could do in response was chuckle. If Bora was able to spend more time with the Captain, he would jump at the opportunity. The fact that he got a free delicious meal only sweetened the deal. The towering saiyan shrugged when he was labelled as an idiot for his rather unintelligent statement to his growing hunger. What caused him to smile was that she meant it in a teasing manner rather than in a harsh insulting way, not to mention it had caused Mel to giggle. A sound which Bora found great happiness in and seemed to never get tired of.
The curvaceous saiyaness offered Bora the chance at a few lessons in terms of cooking to which he agreed to without any protest. "Well I know I may be a utter fool at times, it doesn't mean I'm not willing to try and better myself both of the mind and well as physically. I may seem like nothing but a wall of muscle..." He paused and smirked as he allowed his statement to sink in "But it doesn't mean I'm dumb enough to pass up opportunities." He let out a snicker "If I can makes snacks that taste anywhere near as good as this, I'll be very happy with that... I will make you a meal sometime in the future and it will be good... that is a goal and a promise." With a different opportunity presenting itself to the conversation at hand, Bora quickly abused his telekinetic ability in order to steal a biscuit off the tray. His attempt however was caught out once he had the biscuit in his mouth.
He tried to reply to her statement but found it difficult with his mouth full. He looked like a woodland critter trying to hide food in it's cheeks. Bora's goofy antics where enough to drive Mel insane, but he had his moments. Not enough though... With a loud gulp the biscuit traveled down his gullet and into the black hole of a stomach. Seeing her shake her head with disappointment managed to tickle an area in his brain which helped him realize how much of nuisance he could be at times. He wanted to say something on the matter but the thought was silenced as the conversation rolled on to that of the many sized accommodations that Captains gained and what Mel believed it meant to earn her title. "The smart earn their place but the truly wise work on themselves over and above what is expected of them... I've seen first hand how hard you work, falling asleep at your desk. It may mean little to you or anyone else but I feel you've more than earned your title, Captain." He smiled warmly as he spoke and slowly began to drift off in thought at the idea of having his own ship only to burst out in laughter at her utterance on the esteemed barracks she had witness in her past. "That bad, huh?... I guess you're right though. Oh and if I where to get my own home or ship I'd ask for your advice on it's decor so you wouldn't have to worry about a upside down pig sty. One thing I make sure of is that I keep my space clean... Mother would have killed us if we didn't abide to her house rules..." he responded causally.
There was a lot Mel was right about. Even her response on the matter of saiyans needing fruit gave clear indication as to why it was needed. Bora couldn't exactly argue with sound logic and found himself agreeing most of the time. "I should get a paddle with the word "RIGHT" written on it, that way I could flash it every time you prove you are correct" he said with a snicker at the teasing idea but took a moment to properly toss her words around in his mind. One thing was for sure, it was not often you saw an overweight saiyan, but there where a few. Then reason for that being was due to two things and two things only. A bad diet and laziness. If a commanding officer where to catch one out , the pot belly saiyan would be driven into the ground with training till that keg became a six pack.
When Bora showed his small sign of formality towards the Captain and was threatened with it as a punishment, Bora answered back with a counter to which Mel only urged further. The towering saiyan's eyes bulged slightly as his witty idea blew up in his face and it looked as though the Captain might have been considering it. Thankfully both their attention was zapped away when the steaks had come to a final sizzle in the pan. Mel placed the slices of meat onto a plate and set it down in front of the hulking saiyan. It only took a single bite for Bora to speak out with adoration to the chief. When she went on to state that he should pace himself, Bora took the idea and set it into place. Taking a moment to truly taste the food instead of going on to swallow it as fast as possible. "It's difficult to control oneself when food tastes this good." He commented between bites before he went on show of physic abilities.
He beamed a smile at her when he heard her preach her admiration at the timely manner in which he had learned such a technique. "Do you have any specific ideas on what psychic abilities you would like us to train? I'm all for the idea and while it might be a little challenging at first I find it comes easier through a calm mind." he said in a sage like manner, offering the small bit of information on how to get a better grasp of training such abilities. The towering saiyan snickered at her statement on him being useful for something and gave a simple nod with clear willingness to do just that if it meant he would be somehow useful to her. Mel's response was rather warmhearted and fair. Her words encouraged him and at the same time brought about a strong passion and loyalty within him to follow her to the ends of the universe. "I appreciate that, Captain... It means a lot to hear you say that. If you're sticking to those words I will stick by mine and do my best to better myself to be of more use to you."
The two went on to discuss Bora's strange metaphor further. After a few seconds of searching his brain, Bora recalled where he had heard the strange expression. "Who would have thought?... Traveling to an alien planet and I actually met one of its natives without even realizing it" He said, scratching the back of his head with a slight snicker.
When the conversation moved on to Mel's way of teasing, Bora latched on to the one word she referred to him as, "Handsome". She quickly managed to set the record straight and countered him with a witty and logical response, as she always did. "Well in any light I know you're beautiful" He commented under his breath as if trying to hide his words, it was just loud enough for her to hear though. The hulking saiyan quickly moved the subject along to the pancakes and reveled in their taste. Mel was quick to urge the many other options which could go with the flat cakes but Bora seemed more than content with syrup. The mention of animals being similar to that on Natto peaked the saiyan's interest. "You think they might have a beast similar to the Theranx? I'd like to see what it would taste like if they do.." his mind still set on food even though he had only just begun on his own plate.
As the conversation went on and Mel took her seat besides him, Bora felt as content as ever. With his tail wrapped around Mel's own, he truly felt as though nothing could make him happier. True enough it was a small gesture of intimacy between the two but it was something all the same. the two furry appendages hug lowly as they softly held on to one another as if it where hands grasping tightly to one another. The mood seemed to change along with the gesture. Mel's voice was more gentle and her smile was one of genuine happiness as the large saiyan offered the last few pieces of bacon. She took two of the three bacon strips and motioned them towards Bora's mouth. He paused for a second and smiled warmly as he stared into her jet black eyes before taking the offering and popping it into his mouth. She called him a fool but even then it was more of a playful tease than anything else. He chuckled softly as he went on to tackle another bite from his steak.
While the air seemed a bit more calm Bora kept the conversation going and even questioned the possibility of joining a military school. Melonia chuckled and tightly squeezed at his tail with her own before answering him. Point was, his main problem was his attitude more than anything. While he wasn't the brightest on the block, he was knowledgeable in some areas. Besides, he could just use the ships infranet If he wanted to learn something. Bora nodded in agreement and began to swing their tails back and forth in a gentle rhythm. The saiyaness did nothing to stop the sweet display but gave him a playful bump on the shoulder causing him to pause from his eating and stare at the beautiful saiyaness out of the corner of his eye with a soft smile.
"A sorry mistake to make. Underestimating someone based on their first appearance in many cases can get you in for a butt kicking... One thing I have taken into account is that anyone smaller than myself... Which more often than not is everyone, can be a crazy force. Especially in terms of speed... Tarnov would usually have my back when it came to those situations though... The old shield and sword routine." he proclaimed with a grin as he polished off his steak and went on to bite at another biscuit. "Thank you Melonia... It's been a long time since I've felt this..." he let out a sigh and smiled once more, which practically finished his thought without need of a word. "I know this is the calm before the storm but still... It's been nice." he gently squeezed her tail with his own.
Melonia enjoyed the easygoing nature of their conversation. It was one of the few where she wasn't disciplining Bora or threatening him for future theoretically mistakes. Just the two of them enjoying their breakfast, talking on a number of subjects. The Saiyaness realized how much she was growing to value him not just as a soldier, but more as a friend. Even when he was making her frustrated she at least enjoyed talking to him. Melonia focused on her food, taking great bites of her pancakes so she wouldn't need to speak while she thought. He was always smiling, and seemed to turn any situation positive, be it through good natured spirits or simply sheer drive and determination. It was refreshing, if nothing else. Even his dumb jokes were humorous to Melonia, whether intentional or otherwise, so at worst Bora could incite a quick laugh out of the Saiyaness.
Bora was well receptive of her offer to learn how to cook, he seemed to take in new challenges like a sponge took in water. It was nice to see him as eager as he was to learn, and admitting to himself and to her that self improvement was something he strove for. It meant he was learning from his past mistakes, actively working to improve himself for the better in spite of them. Melonia finished chewing another mouthful of rich syrupy pancakes before she spoke. "I agree with the fool at times bit, that much is certainly true." Melonia said playfully at she pointed to Bora with her fork. "But I'm glad you are self aware enough to work on self improvement. It takes a big man to realize his faults and work to better himself. And I don't mean that as a pun, it really is very big of you." Melonia envisioned half her kitchen on fire and the thought of burned...everything when Bora declared he'd cook her a meal someday. Maybe she was just over thinking things. "I'll hold you too that, but cooking is an exact science. More of an art really, and the word 'exact' hasn't been in your lexicon since I met you. So don't be surprised if I'm cautious letting you new stoves and grills for a while." The Captain spoke plainly, simply stating her mind at the reality that even still was was cautious of letting Bora handle anything that might come back to bite her in the ass at a later date.
Melonia grimace as Bora tried to speak through a mouthful of food. She merely shook her head and grabbed for a biscuit of her own. No sense waiting on him to speak while his mouth was too full to talk. The curvaceous Saiyan took smaller, more measured bites from her own biscuit. Careful not to repeat Bora's mistake as she ate at a more reasonable pace. The two Saiyans could still eat an impressive amount, especially given the tasty feast set before them. When he finally spoke it was rather heart warming hearing what the hulking warrior actually had to say. "Surprisingly wise statement coming from you. And very truthful, all things considered. I don't fall asleep at my desk for the record, I'm merely resting my eyes. It's entirely different." Melonia said with a playful tone. "And yes, you of all people should know bad barracks can be. Saiyan men tend to be total slobs when left to their own devices." The woman thought on Bora's request for her advice, nodding along in agreement. "I'll take that request, you will almost certainly need a woman's touch when it comes to decorating. And your mother sounds exactly like I'd expect a Saiyan mother to act. Mine would threaten to pull my tail if I left my room anything but spotless." Melonia turned her arm to gesture across her immaculate residence, everything spotless and clean. "Obviously it ended up rubbing off on me."
"Don't bother with that paddle Bora, you'll end up holding it up so long your arm gets sore." Melonia said with a grin, spearing several pieces of sliced fruit with her fork. She chewed on the juicy rich fruit before swallowing, immediately going back to her fruit salad for more. Bora seemed to be lost in contemplation, it was almost scary how intelligent he looked when he actually put his mind to it. Melonia might have to start watching herself if the wheels in his head got turning too fast. A quick thinking Bora would probably end up being more than she could handle herself. She wondered what he was thinking on, but deigned not to ask. Instead Melonia returned to her steak, slicing off several more large bites and quickly gobbling them down. Her steak was the redder, and the juices flowed from the meat like water, just the way she liked. Melonia's father had a particular lust for medium and medium well, whereas her mother was adamant that all steaks be cooked well done. A kind of paranoia about meat born parasites that stemmed from her need to keep things clean and sanitary.
Bora seemed incredibly proud of himself once Melonia had commented on his newly learned telekinesis. It wasn't an easy trick to master, and frankly Melonia was surprised he'd learned it at all. She placed a hand on her chin as she thought on what other psychic techniques they might want to consider learning. "Well, there's a lot of practical uses for telekinesis. Being able to communicate mentally or even over long distances. But that can prove exceptionally difficult a trick to master. Still, I'd be willing to give it a shot." Melonia smirked as Bora acted like a wisened veteran of the martial arts, offering his divine insight onto his crafts. He'd earned a bit of pride, so Melonia said nothing on his tone. "I knew you'd appreciate it, and I'm honored to hear that coming from you. Seems our only course then is to stick to our guns and push through all of this together. I intend to better myself at least as much as I better you." The Captain stated swiftly, not content to let Bora be the only one to do any improvement. She was restless to grow stronger as well, and she'd let it be known.
Melonia took a quizzical look at Bora as he recovered from his explanation on his metaphors. She could only shake her head and sigh at the ridiculousness of him. "No, who would have thought. But the universe is a big place, so the odds that were going to happen eventually were stacked against you. You could have just thought he was a Saiyan without a tail, you never know." The Saiyaness remarked before taking a sup from her juice, tasting the sweet liquid as it poured down her slender throat. Humans did look so remarkably similar, she wondered if they even had a Zenkai too. It certainly would help, given how frail most seemed to be. The conversation shifted to Bora's appearance, and the Saiyan's reply elicited a sultry glance from Melonia. She slid in close, pressing herself tight against Bora's large arm as she leaned up to his ear. "I heard that, and that make's two us." She grinned as the Saiyaness pulled herself away, acting as if nothing had happened. "There's a very tasty animal on earth called a 'beef', I don't actually know what it looks like, but it goes very well with noodles and sauce. I think it might be comparable if you sliced it up like steaks. We can try all the Earth cuisine we can eat in time, we'll probably be on the planet for quite a while." Melonia stated matter of factly, still busily working at her own delicious steaks.
It was rather soothing, just being able to sit and eat. The two had already polished off the entirety of the bacon, which was rather impressive seeing as Melonia had made several pounds of it. She was a quarter of the way through her first massive steak, and a still had almost all of her fruit salad left to go through. Bora had taken a liking to the biscuits, and Melonia made sure to pile a half dozen on her plate to safe guard them from his hunger. Melonia smiled at Bora as he smiled at her in response to her love tap on his shoulder. She acted innocent, pretending not to have done anything and returning to her food. Bora gave her his insights on judging ones opponent, to which Melonia was only inclined to agree. "The first mistakes always come before the battle. Never underestimate anyone, regardless of what you think of them. Your foe could always end up suppressing their true Power Level, or worse, have some hidden transformation waiting up their sleeve. Your brother Tarnov sounds like quite the warrior, I'd like to meet him someday. Do you have any idea where he is currently?"
Melonia was slightly taken aback when Bora admitted to her how he felt. It was clear he was quite happy with things, but had he truly not felt this way in a great length of time? She grabbed for a biscuit, pausing to think while she chewed. Melonia swallowed and opened her mouth again to speak. She forgot how rough the larger warrior's life had been compared to her own. And she was quite happy to make him happy, but it filled her with some sorrow knowing he hadn't experienced it in a significant period of time. "Oh Bora. You shouldn't have to thank me. But I'm honored all the same. Anytime you need someone there for you, just ask. Ok?" Melonia felt his tail squeeze hers and she squeezed back. "Calm before the storm is probably the best way of putting it. And I don't just mean training, try to put any negative thoughts away. Even if it's only for today. We'll finish our breakfast, train as long and hard as we can, then for dinner we can probably go get something to eat in the officer's lounge. The galley will be closed by then I think, but if they're still open we can probably fetch an evening snack. How's all that sound to you? Agreeable?" Word Count: 1,720 Total Word Count: 13,620
The entire morning had turned out to be quite pleasant. It was probably a first that Mel and Bora managed to spend time together outside of the officers galley and the command deck. Something Bora could easily notice was that unlike Mel's nature at the helm of the ship, she opened up and seemed more understanding away from the prying eyes of the rest of the crew. It was nice to see her in a much more casual light instead of in her professional standing. Conversations went back and forth like clockwork between the two of them. Slight signs of teasing, care and a little added knowledge of certain subjects laid cause for an enjoyable morning.
When talk went on to Bora's participation in private lessons of cooking, he showed eagerness to learn just as he did whenever he was proposed the opportunity to better himself. He was far from the ideas of ignoring his weakness and despite his aggressive nature towards any he did not know, he knew full well that he could possibly be running head first into a stronger opponent. His rash action was one of his weakness and he would easily own up to it. When he spoke of the fact that he could be a proper fool at times, Mel quickly plucked at the thought and teased him, which only caused him to snicker. "I'd get nowhere fast If I had a mentality that ignored my weaknesses... And thanks. I didn't think I could get much bigger than I already am." He let out a chuckle as he playfully bumped her shoulder with his elbow when promising to make her a meal at some stage in the future. "Fair enough, Captain. Last thing we want is new facility going up in flames from my amateur cooking hands..." He retorted before going on to munch down a biscuit.
With a large gulp in he managed to swallow the biscuit whole before making a rather heartwarming statement to Mel's own words. The Captain did work hard to earn and hold her title. Something she tended to do was see herself short especially in the eyes of the saiyan military. It was something Bora found very strange considering how well she actually did her job. "I may be a a goof most of the time but maybe I'm a genius hiding behind an unintelligent facade?" he suggested with a mysterious glance only to snicker and pause "I have my moments..." His chuckled continued at hearing the saiyaness excuse for falling asleep at her desk. "Resting your eyes? call it what you want, Melonia. You work yourself to exhaustion" He teased before bringing up the possibility of her giving some personal touches to his home should he ever get one. She was keen to the idea and even mentioned a similarity between her mother and Bora's. Both parents seemed adamant that their children's rooms where kept in immaculate condition or had to face the possibility of terrible pain. "Obviously" He snickered and followed her arms path to gaze upon her extremely neat home.
When Bora went on to display his telekinetic abilities he showed great pride in what he had accomplished if only because it warranted Mel's approval. The difficulty and time it took to learn meant little to him but the fact it had come to a head and it impressed the curvy saiyaness was enough to make Bora more than happy to do it all again. He questioned the possibility of other psychic abilities which they could possibly learn and Mel was quick to point out the possibility of telepathy. "Telepathy could be quite helpful should we need to be able to converse without anyone else hearing us, like a enemy." He said with a scratch of his chin before going on to thank the Captain for her kind words towards the bettering of himself. Just like him, Melonia wanted to get stronger too and declared that she too would promise to better herself just as he would.
Conversations developed to strange metaphors and past memories but what Bora said next was supposed to be silent, Mel managed to hear him clearly anyways. She pressed her curvaceous frame against his large arm and with a whisper she said a sentence which caused a shiver to run down his spine. Did she really mean it or was she just teasing? He bit his lips as she pulled away and acted as if nothing had ever happened. Before he could think of saying anything about it, the conversation moved on and while what she said was not completely out of his mind it did seem to float to the back of his head. Maybe at a later stage he would bring it up but for now , they would speak of the great beasts of the Earth known simply as "Beef" "It sounds good and I'm sure we will have more than enough time to try a vast amount of dishes made by these earthlings. Perhaps we can even go hunting this animal called "Beef" " he said in response before gnawing the last bit of steak on his plate.
The time they had spent so far in the morning was a memory Bora would more than likely store as one of his favorite memories. It truly was one of the moments where he felt free from all incidents of his past that hung heavily on his shoulders. The lovable gestures and soft tone in which the two spoke to each other was enough to prove that there just might be hope for the oaf to one day win the saiyaness over but for now he was content simply being at her side. Even with the calm nature of their demeanor, discussions of rather important things ensued but it eventually came around to the whereabouts of Bora's brother. "My brother was assigned to another squad but not on this ship. They where scheduled to leave a few days after we did. So unfortunately I haven't seen him since the day before departure... I like to think he's the only other person who can keep me out of trouble and as for you seeing him. I'm sure we could see him soon enough on earth. He's more... serious about things and even though I'm bigger, hes still the older one." He snickered. "My big little brother."
With how good things where going, Bora couldn't help but let his feelings be heard. He truly felt happy where he was and it had been a very long time since he felt that way. As he listened to her response, she seemed to tug harder at his heart. "I have to thank you, Melonia. You've given me a memory to cherish and the fact you are willing to be there for me even after I have been such a nuisance... Thank you." It was the only two words he could think of to explain how grateful he was to have her there. Their tails shared a gentle squeezes as if they where reassuring one another before the talk of their inevitable storm of training that was going to be on in a few minutes. Thankfully there was a light at the end of the tunnel and that was to have supper with the Captain in the officers galley. This time there would be no mishaps. "I like the sound of that.." He said with a soft smile before his tail gently brushed away from hers. As he turned to gather up the trays and dirt plates he stopped with his back to her and his tail reached around her curvy sides before giving a soft squeeze and letting go. It was the closest form of a hug he could give her without being straightforward but it was enough to show the appreciation and care he had for her.
He walked towards the sink and after a few minutes of cleaning all that was left was Mel's plate. He waited for her to finish and gave her a smile before cleaning it. "As much as I have enjoyed myself this morning and I look forward to it again, I think it's time we finally crack down and get to training don't you think?" He dried off his hands with a wash cloth and stepped up to Melonia looking down at her from his full height. "Lead the way, Captain." he said the softest of tones.
It truly was shaping up to be quite the day, Melonia scarcely could remember a time she was more relaxed by something as simple as breakfast with a crew mate. Particularly one who only a week ago had dealt her the single greatest nuisance of her entire military career. Bora was entirely unlike anyone she'd ever met before. Especially given how rare it was she actually meet with any of her staff in such an information setting as making breakfast in her own quarters. The Saiyaness mentally shook her head at the audacity of it all, when in reality she simply took another bite from her food, musing to herself as she ate at her great steaks. They were truly delicious, and Melonia almost wondered if she'd put more effort into them specifically because Bora was joining her for breakfast and she mentally wished to impress him, or if her skill at cooking had merely improved recently. Another few bites passed by and she surmised that it didn't much matter which outcome was true, given the results had ended up exactly the same in either scenario. The two continued their breakfast like a ravenous animal and a slightly better mannered ravenous animal, just as Saiyans tended to.
As Bora spoke in response to drive to succeed Melonia could only nod her head yes in agreement through her mouthful of food, having devoured most a sliced fruit in a greedy mouthful. Bora was keenly self aware about his strengths and weaknesses, and despite his misgivings he worked incredibly hard to apply himself and work at self improvement. It was perhaps the most admirable one could strive for under any circumstances. Melonia swallowed her food before she finally replied. "No one would get very fast ignore their weaknesses, even if all they did was focus on their strengths. Working to cover up for your flaws is a noble goal to pursue, one you're not alone in working at. Of that I promise you..." Melonia trailed off and looked up to the ceiling, letting out a weighty sigh. "We've all got things we grapple with, flaws we wish we could eliminate, things we wish we'd done differently. All we can do is pick ourselves up and push our way forward, striving to better ourselves all along the way. To that end I wish for nothing more than for you to achieve the change you do so much desire. And perhaps I'll improve a little along the way as well." Melonia grew silent after her somber words, returning to take another few bites from her steaks. It was a rather prophetic statement from her, but one she felt she needed to say. To that end Bora was really just a font for drawing out wisdom it seemed.
Melonia was slightly surprised when Bora played himself off as a genius pretending to be an idiot, but that kind of childishness was right up his alley. She picked up a biscuit and tossed it at his head, the pastry bouncing off for her to catch directly and take a bite out of. "Mmmhmm... I believe that, one hundred percent. If you were a genius hiding behind a facade you intentionally all but sabotaged any hope of career advancement just to earn your Captain's personal attention. That's a gamble no true genius would take, its an incalculable risk the way I see it." Melonia took another bite from the biscuit, squeezing Bora's thick tail firmer with her own. She took another bite of fruit, chewing steadily as the juices pooled in her mouth. "You might have your moments, I'll give you that. And I don't work myself to exhaustion, I just know when I can catch a quick rest. Besides, even if I did, isn't work better when it's done with such zeal?" The Saiyaness gave Bora a rather cross glance, then returned to her meal, giving him a minute or so to reflect on her words as she ate. Melonia valued hard work and prided herself on sheer diligence, it gave her purpose knowing how hard she worked. She strove to better herself in all things, and one of them was sheer dedication to a task. If there were tasks to be done one could be more than certain Melonia would be among the very first there to see them through, regardless of difficulty or duration needed.
Melonia was rather approving of Bora's quickly learned telekinesis, and in truth ever so slightly jealous of the feat. It would make a myriad of household chores infinitely easier having such an at her disposal, and she heavily considered learning that power for herself. It was clear by his expression that he was overjoyed to have won her approval, Bora wore his expressions on his face, and none of them came even close to rivaling that of his sheer happiness when it shone through that hard face of his. "Telepathy also makes for effective long range communication, particularly when it can cross distances like planets. We could keep in contact with other Saiyan Alliance members from the vast reaches of space, even keeping them up to date with military movements and other sensitive matters doing so in great privacy." She nodded along in agreement with Bora as they spoke, though in truth Melonia knew well just how arduous such a feat would be. Few mastered telepathy, fewer still could employ it over vast distances effectively. Still though, they could attempt to do so, and even if they failed greater mental clarity would be its own reward for their efforts. Though Melonia did sorely wish to improve her grasp of Ki usage.
The Saiyaness watched with great mirth as Bora was sent revealing my her teasing display of affection. It really did send him for a loop, more so than most men. And that was saying quite a lot, for Melonia was more than cruelly aware she could have near any man on the ship wrapped around her fingers with very little effort indeed. He seemed silently quite shocked, so much so he actually kept silent about such matters for once. It pleased Melonia greatly seeing him so, moreover watching Bora try to recover as their conversation continued on wards as if nothing at all had just happened between them. Melonia ate from her pancakes, slowly as she watched Bora return to his steak. He ate in great big bites, more beast than man, though it was plain as day by the look on his face that he was still racking his brain over what has just happened. Perhaps in the future Melonia would tease him further, see how much she could push him along. It might be a bit cruel, but at least is was maddeningly fun. Her own steaks were still a quarter left by the time Bora had finished his, and Melonia decided to eat quicker. Bora had a healthy lead on her, and she didn't want him complaining if she ended up taking longer than him to finish her meal.
Eventually the conversation resumed in earnest, as Bora spoke at length of his brother. Bora's brother sounded like he's hit a few less branches on the family tree when he popped out of the womb. A more level headed version of Bora, it might actually be a dream come true. Sadly though, he was nowhere to be found, having been assigned to an entirely different vessel. Melonia's looked saddened a bit, but was quickly picked back up when Bora snickered upon describing his brother. "Your brother sounds like quite the man Bora, I'm sure you're very proud of him. All my siblings are younger, though some not by much. As the oldest I feel like there's a lot expected of me, which is part of the reason I tend to work as hard as I do. I want to make my parents proud of what I've accomplished, and I can think of no better way to do so than becoming stronger and rising up through the hierarchy of the Saiyan Alliance. It fills me with immense pride just to call them and be able to tell them how far I've risen, I know I shouldn't say that around someone whose lost both their parents, but I'm sure your brother would feel the same way if you spoke to him now. Perhaps we'll run into him soon enough, as you said. I'd be eager to meet him, and maybe he could give me a few tips for dealing with you." Melonia returned the snicker, before swinging their tails back and forth for a bit as she munched another great bite from her syrupy pancakes, content simply to enjoy her chat and her hearty meal. It was one of the few true moment of Relaxation she'd have since they first departed from Natto several days prior.
Melonia was slightly taken back when Bora finally poured out his true feelings before Melonia. It was something she hadn't expected, especially so soon after meeting Bora. It was a surprisingly somber moment shared between the two. She didn't quite know how best to react, so Melonia leaned against Bora's great arm and wrapped hers tender around it, holding herself close. "I'm honored that you feel that way Bora, truly. You are a terrible nuisance at times, but you're also a terrific friend. I know how much hardship you've experienced in your life, and I'd like to say I'll always be there for you. I can't though, because no one, not even the Kais can predict the future. But I will say, for as long as it is within my power, I'll be at your side, and I expect you'll just as soon be at mine. So thank you, because if nothing else, I gained a friend." Their tails still firmly intertwined, seated next to each other at the small isle in the middle of Melonia's well furnished kitchenette. All the world's problems seemed so very distant in that singular moment. Only Bora's tail untangling from around her own snapped Melonia out of it. She sat and watched as Bora gathered up the empty plates and bowls, preceding towards her sink. She wanted to tell him he didn't have to, but Bora was already cleaning up their meal by the time Melonia even thought to speak.
Once Bora had finished he turned back to face her, giving his now familiar overconfident smile. Bora professed his thanks for the meal, though he seemed more than ready to train now. Melonia was in agreement, they had preoccupied themselves with food more than they needed too. And the lengthy conversation had only delayed the amount of training the two could commence with today. Melonia nodded sternly in agreement, much of her calm demeanor melting away to once more reveal her matriarchal presence. "You're right Bora, I think we've enjoyed ourselves long enough. We can rest and talk more when we're too damn tired to stand. Follow me if you will, the Gravity Chamber is just off the right hall, past my office." At that Melonia led her towering companion through the halls of her Captain's palatial suite to the entrance to her personal gravity training facility. There they would begin the first of what was sure to be many times spent training together in the confines of the grueling gravity machine.
