It was no wonder that these parochial folk out on the furthest edges of the civilized universe didn’t go planet hopping all that much. He’d been locked inside this stupid spacepod for hours now with nary an indication of whether he was any closer to his destination. This was no way for civilized peoples to travel. He’d contemplated ripping or blowing his way out of the pod at the heights of his frustration, he’d just gotten done with being stuck inside a big stupid marble for what felt like an eternity and so this was seriously starting to feel grating, but he reminded himself that at his current level of power making way himself would take even longer.
The promise of finally figuring out a thing or two when he made it to… what was this place even called? Craning his neck forward (not an especially easy feat given his current transport) he squinted to make out the text on display. ’E-arth? Earth? Stupid name for a planet. So anyway, the promise of finally being able to get some things straight once he was on Earth loomed too great in his mind to be overcome by simple discomfort. For the moment he would endure… and maybe blow this miserable excuse for a ship off the face of whatever planet he ended up on. What with blisteringly poor design choices all round he didn’t exactly trust it to hit the mark first time.
’You know I think I might have been to this system before, those rings there, was that one of mine?’ He had very definitely been alone for far too long at this point, he kept talking to himself like some kind of crazed hermit. Not exactly the poster child of enlightened divinity, but then that had rarely been the case anyway.
Finally the onboard UI buzzed promisingly as his destination hoved in to view amidst the softly twinkling stars. ’Planet Dirt. And not before time either.’ Unfortunately the incessant beeping which soon came to replace it was far less heartening. “Retro thrusters impaired” it helpfully informed him on the miniscule readout now. ’Well, this is gonna suck.’ The pod rattled and groaned as they struck the atmosphere and Sinthe expected any minute that it would just up and dissolve around him, but by some miracle he made it in sight of the ground. The ground which was coming up especially fast for his liking.
It was pretty much a given that in his eons long existence the Anubian had been hit a great deal harder than the force with which he struck the Earth, but as he strained to clamber his way out of his much abused ride you never would have guessed it. Things were not off to an altogether grandiose start but there again he was finally able to stretch which he took great enjoyment in before casting his eyes and his sense about. Wasteland, that was what both perceived, nothing of much interest and only the merest smattering of great powers. Relatively speaking of course.
Taking his attention from the world around with a final buzz which was to its new owner starting to sound like a jackhammer on his skull, the pod poofed out of sight, being replaced with a small caplet which the Anubian clutched between the claws of his thumb and forefinger. Tempting as it was to vaporize it might still come in handy he guessed and so stowing it in his sash he finally began to walk. ’This is ridiculous,’ he told himself, ’When was the last time a God walked anywhere?’
Then again after that fiasco he was begrudgingly grateful to be on the ground and stretching his legs. It was the simple things sometimes.
It was difficult to really say, looking around to where she was now, and the blue figure that she was chasing down. When the chase had first began, they were in the city, and she had done all she could into trying to convince this thin-eyed cat to listen.
But all the creature wanted to do was 'prank' her, where it displayed abilities that she was ashamed to say amazed her. To be able to mimic her forms, was the kind of potential that could change a lot about which species on earth, were actually the strongest.
For this kind of talent to be wasted away on what the cat had considered to be pranks, was appalling enough to let her anger get the best of her. And the result of her trying to apologize, was chasing the cat around, who was adamant that she was lying.
A predicament which eventually led to chasing the cat outside of the city, and out here in a wasteland like this. Though it had certainly not a situation that came without benefits. Chasing after the creature, she was able to assess a few notable things.
At first when she had gone after it, she had a justified assumption that she could possibly drive the cat to exhaustion, in order to catch it, and have it listen. There was a lot of differences between animals, and someone who was human in appearance, after all.
But that assumption had been wrong. The cat had managed to avoid her with all of its abrupt turns, which although seemed like there was some reasoning behind it, she found it quite clear that the animal was just following scents it had found to be interesting.
Someone else would have seen this as comical, but she had saw it as an opportunity to catch it, only to end up just grabbing the air, as the creature remembered why it had been running in the first place. The frustration it imposed on her, looking at things now, made her realize just how much she was going to not only enjoy stopping it, but also rewarding herself for it after.
She had fell into enough fortune recently, to afford two certain items that she had only dreamed of possessing. A dream that was now a reality, and had been put to great use ever since. In a place like this, where she was forced to shift into her wolf form, and found the cat occasionally mimicking it himself, that sort of thing was a luxury. One which shouldn't be too long now.
The heat out here was unlike that in the city, and slowly the creature would likely realize there wasn't really any water and food around here. It shifting into its own version of her wolf form, had only proven this theory of hers was actually true.
Although as of yet, she couldn't really confirm as to why it kept shifting out of it. One theory was that it was simply not trained enough. While the other entertained the notion that perhaps it detested the idea of being a cat's natural and long-time enemy.
If her arms and legs weren't getting sore, she would have cared more about how embarrassing that thought was. A shift in movement, had her gaze drifted onto the cat, where she noticed its ears had perked straight up. And the reason for it, became apparent, as she looked past it, and saw what looked like something that would be landing in the area. What it was, she couldn't tell.
Though anyone normal would run from it, unless they wanted to be crushed. But rather than turn back, the creature was running towards it, forcing her to follow along, since she hadn't chased after it for this long, all just for nothing.
Hopefully this would be worth the effort.A crash would be noticeable.
It didn't matter what kind of area it was, or just how little people there were around. Something crashing would be noticeable, and it was naive to think so otherwise. But ever since the group of people with monkey tails had arrived long ago, it was something those on earth had gotten used to. Though that didn't mean it wasn't any less interesting to hear about, or even witness.
Back when she had been a human, the idea of these sightings fascinated her. But like those who were sent to report it, there was only so much that could be done. It was easier and smarter to report a sighting from a distance, than to get up close and lose a good reporter. She had feared the idea of even being in such close contact, though things were vastly different since she turned.
As a vampire, she was already better in every way than the average human. So whatever had crash landed, she very well had the skills and experience to prepare for it. The cat she had been following, gotten there first, as she switched back to her human form.
"Hey! Listen!"
She watched as the short thing had jumped for the attention of something, repeating an iconic phrase that it likely got from spending time as a housecat, of the girl that she found had taken him in. It was only after she had cautiously came closer, did she found out, what had crashed was another cat. One which seemed to wear clothing she had recognized from history books.
Was this thing supposed to be some kind of royalty? The smaller and shorter cat, who had been jumping around from place to place, in what was supposed to be a comical fashion, turned to her. Compared to the creature, who she was positive wasn't even aware that it was supposed to be feeling tired, she could hardly even stand. It was only her reasoning that was motivating her right now.
"She keeps chasing me. I want to go home."
The cat pointed at her like she had committed some kind of crime, before running around and going behind the much larger cat. The act was something more that was to be ignored, than really acknowledge, as her gaze fell back onto the other creature.
"If you're someone of royalty, this isn't really a good place to land and conquer. We already have people like Saiyans and Majins around to bother us."
For awhile now, she avoided addressing these groups specifically, and only described them by their known appearances. The reason for it, being her own belief that names had a certain power to them, and could possibly cause something dire to happen.
With her own power hidden on the level of that of an average human however, and unsure of whether or not this guy was a threat, she figured giving names to at least a few would do something good. It was all mostly superstition though, which had some points to it.
She wasn't really the type otherwise, to listen to something that seemed to be without reason. The mention of the word -Majin, had caused the cat that was hiding, to leave its spot, as it head turned to look around the area. A frown formed shortly after.
Sinthe glanced up to find a blue… thing suddenly bearing down upon him. Unconcerned he made no move as it sought shelter behind him from the young woman who had apparently accosted it all the way out here. He growled in the back of his throat at being used as a shield but whatever it was he’d dropped in on it was hardly worth being properly aggravated over. ’You’re a liar!’ Well whatever it was it didn’t lack at all for energy and with the way he’d just been addressed he had half a mind to come down on his side of whatever the hell was going on.
’Isn’t she just though? You can stop hiding your ki, I’m not a tourist, just passing through as it were.’ Lucky thing that or he might have taken a much more professional interest of sorts in this planet. Though it was quite interesting to hear that there were Saiyans and Majins this far out in the boonies, they generally weren’t great at what you’d call integration and from the sounds of things they hadn’t improved much on that front. Their persisting presence therefore said something to the quality of the planet’s fighters. Nothing good at that.
’Hm, you honestly don’t recognize me at all, do you? Either I’m further into the backwoods end of the galaxy than I thought or else…’ Or else he had been asleep for much, much longer than he had at first thought, that his attire wouldn’t be seen for what it was either could be the case. He didn’t really like the idea, one way or another it would make getting in touch with the Kaioshin a pain in the ass. If the universe had forgotten even its Anubian gods then they might not even deign to see him, particularly the way he was now. He could do naught but try though and he might as well avail himself of the resources at hand. Shrugging off his prior line of thought he approached the young woman, slowly but with an outward appearance of almost contemptuous ease.
’Very well. Not royalty exactly, my people call ourselves Anubian although if you knew us AT ALL it would far more likely be under our colloquial title; Gods of Destruction. I myself have taken what you might call a sabbatical.’
Glancing down he idly kicked the ground with the toe of his boot as though it were to punctuate his next point. ’As for the welfare of this planet, I’m still weighing my options. Though you might just make up for this… reception by directing me toward your Kami.’
And he was so casual about it too. With the help of Capsule Corp, and their long developed technology that allowed space travel, the idea that this creature had came here peacefully, wasn't too far-fetched. The evidence was in the number of species here on earth, and if he had wanted to cause trouble, he would have done it by now. Though that didn't at all make him trustworthy.
How he was able to tell she was purposely lowering her energy, was insight that said he was more than just someone passing by. Most people she met and interacted with, couldn't even tell the difference, unless she briefly released it, for her own entertainment.
Each and everyone of them had always seemed to get chills, which she had only ever let them question whether or not it was their imagination. This guy telling her to just release what she was hiding, made things suspicious, and potentially embarrassing.
If he was really a creature that was as much of a threat, than the ones which her friends had already identified for her, then she would not be able to live down the idea that a cat, was stronger than a vampire. Someone who was at least human looking.
"Hiding? You're not considering that maybe I'm just putting some practice in."
"Practice? You're doing it wrong."
The much smaller cat, she felt its eyes landing on her, at the mention of practice. Though she didn't give it a glance, she had seen enough of the creature to know that it was going to do something for attention. The surge of energy in the air, and a sense of power, had confirmed her suspicions, although the energy had died out as quick as it had came. She still didn't pay it attention.
"Huh? Must be hungry."
Although she paid it no mind, anyone who did, would see it patting its belly, confusion clear on its face. But seeming to accept what was going on in its body, the cat had plopped down on the ground, waiting for something else to interest it.
Though the question was, for how long before it had created its own source of entertainment? Listening to the other cat however, who had much more intelligence than the smaller one, she couldn't help but feel ashamed, as it gave out accusations.
Accusations which, although were true, didn't save her from feeling any embarrassment, as he had gone and explained who he was. She was going to continue to deny his accusations, but it wasn't her fault at all she didn't know exactly what his species was.
Being a vampire, and one who was only with 2 years of experience, her time was spent in thinking up ideas on living luxurious, rather than hunting down those who were stronger than her coven. And that much had been satisfying, until only recently.
She managed to avoid having any further blackouts from going into a blood frenzy, but the idea that her first time had made her pass out, was still something she was ashamed of, and had yet to personally make up for it. Which was supposed to change, after she had gathered enough intel on the three groups she had chosen to compare her kin to. The smaller cat was the second finding.
"I really wish you would stop throwing these accusations."
It hadn't really been an answer to what she had saw as a request, but she would get to it soon enough. This guy was claiming that he was one of the Gods of Destruction, which she was sure was some kind of Egypt thing, and obviously, was supposed to be a bad thing. That was even assuming if he was telling some resemblance of truth, and just wasn't some kind of Egyptian cat from space.
She might have been ignorant about that, but earth's god was a different matter entirely. It was one of those subjects that became known, after enough presence had been established, to go and show that the deity they believed in, was actually reachable.
The fact that he needed directions, small as this turnabout was, gave her enough satisfaction into making it feel like she was the one who was in control. With everything that had been said in the last few moments, it really helped her sense of pride along.
"We're in the western parts of the world, and the closest city is West City. If you want to meet our Kami, you're going to have to go east, and look around for Korin's Tower."
For the average human, the place was pretty much off-limits, and nothing more than a rumor, with how out of the way it was. She never had the time to really check the place out herself, although even if she did, you needed an audience for that kind of stuff.
Sinthe huffed at the idea that this young lady wasn’t pretending. Quite frankly it was all he could do to not chuckle. She didn’t carry herself as one who was without power and so the idea that she was no stronger than the regular inhabitants of this planet didn’t hold much water. Granted it could be that she was just naturally confident, or was just a big enough idiot that she thought she had things under control and of course the three things were by no means mutually exclusive.
It might have annoyed him quite a bit more that she persisted in the charade if only for the fact that it was now a novelty to be able to hold conversation with someone else. It was almost sad when he thought of it like that. It wasn’t only that though, he noticeably perked up when he’d gleaned what information he had wanted. He didn’t know what a Korin was but climbing a tower might give him the workout he needed to finally shake off just how sluggish he’d felt since waking up.
He briefly cast a disapproving eye upon the little cat as he felt the first stirrings of a power from it… though they were shortlived. Actually he was pretty hungry himself come to think of it. He tilted his head at the creature, looking somehow both disappointed and amused before returning his attention to the young woman who’d been his main focus.
’A tower is it? How quaint.’ Sinthe had seen it all before of course, the mighty even if they were supposedly the great and the good did tend to cling to the symbols of power. Crowns, staves, towers and all manner of other affectations, though they all seemed to have this weird thing about height. For all his love of fine adornments the Anubian knew that power was not a bauble of status but something that you carried with you. A God of Destruction was his own crown, his own staff, his own tower. Only most peop0le did not have the wit to see it at first. All the same they learned quickly.
’But here you have me at something of a disadvantage, I’ve told you all about me and I still don’t know a thing about you. Besides your being a terrible actress.’ He smiled again, that contemptuous self-aggrandizing smile which seemed to suggest that everything which transpired did so neatly in the palm of his hand. ’Unlike the rest of my kind, I rather like to reward good service where it’s given freely. Let it never be said that Lord Sinthe doesn’t know how to repay a favour.’ Wow it felt weird introducing himself, he usually had a guy for that. Maybe he could get one while he was here on Earth.
‘That is if you are being truthful.’ The implication was fairly clear as to what might transpire if she wasn’t and he found his way back to her, he knew full well from many, many years of making such inferences that he needn’t give voice to it.
Indeed it was the simple things, just being able to wag his tongue a little now, to think that it would be so pleasing.
Even without the huff that came after her defense, the way he carried his words, made that pretty clear. Though that didn't mean she would stop hiding her energy. She did it for a reason, and his claims that she was bad at lying, wasn't going to change that.
If anything, it brought to light several things that these accusations was overlooking, and with it her satisfaction. She might have been lying, sure, but ignoring that it was done in a way that could have been true? Those who lived in space should know full well how earthlings were, when it came to trying to defend their home. The excuse she had gave him wasn't that far of a stretch.
Then there was the fact that she hid her identity as a Vampire all the time when she was at school. How could she be bad as he had said, with this ongoing and daily thing? Her pale skin might have been an odd sight to the more pinker humans, but in a society where earth's military was entrusted to groups of people with black sclera and red eyes, it was far from standing out.
So long as she continued to look human, that was all she really was to those who didn't know her secret. Though an exceptionally strong one of course. But with him being a so called God of Destruction, it wasn't something that he would believe.
Not that it mattered. Admitting that she had an advantage with telling him the bare minimum, was enough to have things still go at her own pace. And telling him beyond what she felt he should know, wasn't it. Rewarding good service? Seriously?
"My name's Rukia. And unless this reward you're talking about is this planet's money, I'm not interested."
"I want food!"
She had almost forgotten about the blue cat, with how quiet it had been. The thing was likely both confused during the whole conversation, and bored, but its feelings wasn't one worth consideration. Especially when she wasn't even done talking.
"You needed directions, and I wanted to catch him. There's nothing else to it."
Much as she wanted to just speed over to the smaller cat, and bind it while it wasn't expecting it, it was better to just go and get it normally. The creature wanted food, and she saw no reason to really stick around the longer cat, having got what she wanted. It would be a hassle having it run around and through her mansion later, but that was a problem that she would deal with later.
"Come on. If you want food, I'll take you back to your owner."
She offered out her arms for the cat to jump into, and although it had tilted its head at first, eyes narrowing in the same suspicion it had showed her all throughout the way here, it hopped in her arms anyway. Heavy, but nothing she couldn't carry.
It was only after, that she sped off.

(A lot shorter than I would have liked, but since I'm unsure of several things like fighting story npcs, there's not much reason for Rukia to really stick around.)

It honestly surprised him that she’d be so short with him all of a sudden. As she said they weren’t really at all obliged to one another’s company, though he enjoyed just being able to talk again. Talk to someone other than himself that is. Perhaps he had been a touch too forward with his promise of reward but it was something that he prided himself on, as assuredly as he did the promise that came on its heels. That more than anything was what likely put her off, but if she couldn’t take playful ribbing at the threat of destruction then she was quite obviously no fun at all.
’Well then off you go and should we meet again, don’t think I’ll forget my promise.
Sinthe kept both eyes on Rukia’s retreating back, pondering on whether or not he was actually annoyed enough to start something or not. That would be rude he decided, having just touched down it simply wouldn’t be proper to start blowing things up pell-mell before he’d been properly provoked. That’d gotten him in trouble before. Instead he just stood and watched until the Earth girl and her feline… friend… captive had disappeared entirely from his sight. He guessed that his next move should be to this so-called West City that she’d spoken of but he then realized that he had nothing to help orient himself.
Well this was embarrassing.
It was upon that realization that his stomach made the most unholy of noises, drawing his attention to the fact that he hadn’t actually eaten in over a millennia. Okay, so THAT was his first move then. Focusing his senses onto the nearest cluster of ki signatures he resumed his leisurely stroll at a somewhat more brisk pace. ’Stupid cat… remind me how hungry I am… shoulda eaten him instead.’
