Her efforts had been in vain.
That Nekomajin she had gone and chased to the wastelands of West City, absolutely refused to listen to her. It had potential yes, but it was much too childish for her to make use of it. So she had returned the creature to the family she chased it away from.
The sight of her mansion, was one that would normally be a welcome sight, just knowing the kind of luxury that laid inside. But having to return empty-handed was just shameful. Too much for her to really reward herself with the finer things in this household, meant to relax her. No, she needed to make up for things not going her way. To not do so would show she didn't care for growth.
This setback already delayed her plans into smoothly studying and recruiting the groups she had chosen to observe. A replacement would be needed for the cat, but which one out of those she knew, or possibly not know at all, was something to be decided later.
Tapping the code to get into the mansion, she had walked inside, and tapped another button on the keypad that was inside. Both when she had walked in, and when she had a button on the keypad, had brought on the faintest sound of a couple of beeps ringing.
One that would alert the only other inhabitant who lived here with her, that she knew must have been in the gravity room. The other girl, who she began to see as less of a creature, had practically gone there as much as she could. And it hadn't even been that long since the two of them had met. Maybe a good week or so. It was actually amusing she was putting so much use into the chamber.
The girl after all, was someone who wanted to avoid being enlisted into the army. A place which whether or not you were from space, that most people knew held combat. But guess there was no fighting something that was practically instinct for the girl.
She was different from other Majins anyway. Something that was a good thing, rather than a bad one. Going down one hall, and walking down another, she had opened the door to the room, which was soundproof. Lots of durable material around here as well.
With how groups like the Saiyans having been around longer than she had even been born, it wasn't a surprise that the salesman had taken pride in such. The use of ki could be a powerful thing, no matter who's hands it was in. Wouldn't do any good in stopping the building from being destroyed, if there was too much power, but it could take a few good hits. It also helped to have insurance.
Walking inside, she could already hear the other girl's grunts and irregular breathing, which was brought on by the amount of exertion that was being put forth into this room. As soon as she had walked a certain range, an immense pressure was placed onto her body, as gravity stronger than that of the earth itself, was placed onto her. One that she endured, as she walked.
It wouldn't do her any good to succumb to this kind of pressure. The girl needed to know that she was the superior one. No foul mood she could ever be in, would ever change this belief of hers, and the chance to demonstrate that she was better.
From what she was seeing, the girl was sweating a lot, and making use of those stretchy limbs of hers. A towel was wrapped around her shoulder, and like always when she had seen the girl prepare to come in here, she had on things like a headband and sweatbands.
Never something she would ever be caught wearing, since she thought it looked ridiculous herself, but whatever kept the floor in here from being a puddle of the girl's body sweat. An inspection of the gravity machine, had showed the dial was only set to 7.
So she had improved then. Personally, after being under two times of earth's gravity, she had already decided she could handle at least ten. It was a lot of work, but it was better to continue trying to be ahead of the girl, than take things at her leisure.
"Just give me another minute."
Same cold tone, and likely same cold eyes too. It was amazing actually that people in East City were used to seeing the girl's own kin. Even when she was invited into that couple's home, there were points where she thought the black sclera was a creepy look.
Leaning against the wall right next to the machine, she tapped away with her fingers, creating a clacking sound. The girl's grunting seemed to increase, and her efforts exerted even more. But whether that was due to annoyance, or what had been proposed, she preferred the former. Having that kind of control over someone, helped ease her mood of coming back empty handed.
It was only after the girl had stopped, her breathing even more audible, did she shut off the machine back to zero. The towel the girl had was wiped all over, and a tinge of red came across the girl's cheeks, as she patted against what didn't block her face.
"The hell are you looking at?"
The question wasn't one that was meant to be answered. More of a front on covering up embarrassment. It was quite obvious that was the case, and she didn't need to know anything about the girl to know that was true. Though bringing attention to it in the first place, was a weakness to be exploited, whether the girl realized it or not. But they could deal with that some other day.
"We'll have to look for a different group. Know where Saiyans can be found at?"
"Southern Islands."
It was all the girl had said, before she had walked out, closing the door behind her. Not surprising at all. It had taken a lot of effort in the first place when they met, to even have her confess to what she was dealing with. Only when the girl was angry, did she seemed to talk a whole lot, throwing out every curse word she could muster, with an obvious intent to scare people away.
She sighed, more for herself, than for the girl. Gravity training was going to be one of the hardest things she would ever do. That would always be an apparent fact, knowing just how much pressure her body felt, just as soon as the machine had turned on.
This life was one that required devotion and time put into it. A life that she likely wouldn't have lived, if she hadn't become a Vampire. Thoughts that under exhaustion, she did sometimes wonder what it would be like. It definitely wouldn't have been as fulfilling, but when you didn't have the kind of power to change that, it would just be something to make the best out of.
They were just thoughts though. That was the difference between them and reality. She had chosen this life, and taken the opportunity she knew would be best for her. There was no changing that, and really, she didn't want to do so either.
Switching the dial to ten times earth's gravity, the effects were instantaneous. What pressure she had felt coming into the room, while the other girl had been training, was nothing compared to this. There was just so much exertion used to even move.
It was draining, and she felt weak. The feeling brought back memories to when she had first accepted getting turned, and was amazed at not only the feeling of euphoria that always seemed to follow her, but at just what she was able to do, that would have likely required months of training as a human. Her speed was way above average, with her punches and kicks following suit.
She knew there was a lot of capability to be had. A slight smile formed at the memories, as she had gone and started adjusting to the difference in pressure she was normally used to. Her hand needed the wall for support in even standing up under this pressure.
In a way, under this gravity, she was nothing more than a human. The group she had seen as holding full of weaknesses, and one she had so often detested. She was supposed to be a lot better than that. It was a fact that came with the title of being a Vampire.
She pushed herself away from the wall, and threw a punch at the air. Being seen like this would be humiliating. Much more than her own failure. The cat could be replaced by something better, but appearances, especially one of superiority, had to be kept up.
Pulling her arm back, her other one had thrown another punch at the air, and with it, her legs had shifted. She was getting herself used to walking under this kind of pressure, but if she wanted to get anywhere at all before the day had ended, she needed to at least try. Sweat was already starting to form on her body, and breathing was quickening as well. But this wasn't good enough.
Having not been one to study the use of ki, a lot of what she knew when it came to fighting was purely physical. Seeing as how she was still in high school, and yet to have a life where she needed to constantly defend herself, it wasn't really a bad thing.
But it was a subject she wanted to look into, shortly after completing this study of hers. Making the pink-fleshed girl her servant, had already proven to be insightful. Images of their first encounter, and the aggression that was shown against her, was one that she put into practice now. Orbs of ki which shot out into beams, had been nonstop fired at her, in order to draw her out.
If the ki was taken away, then the girl would likely have between use of mostly palm strikes, and just punches. Her arms moved alongside the memory, switching between the two. It was one that she kept thinking back to, whenever she came to use the gravity machine here, just wondering if there was a pattern the girl had. As far as she could tell, it was just pure aggression.
What gaps the girl had with fighting, came really from her own stamina. This was moving on feeling alone, rather than planning. In a place like this, there didn't need to be either. She just needed to let go and give it her all, for as long as she could.
The aching of her muscles became rather apparent, though nothing she was surprised by, knowing how much exertion the girl used. But one thing that the girl had, which she didn't, was being able to allow her limbs to stretch alongside the punches that she dealt.
For something like that to be made her own, the only thing she could think of, was shifting focus onto her legs. Training like this, and being accompanied by only the knowledge of how the girl fought, there hadn't really been much moving around.
Her legs had only shifted to adjust to her change in posture, which punching and palming at the air would do to the body. For the latter, that was only a slight push forward or back, side to side, when it came to moving her legs to what she was doing.
But this would change. Though it took a lot of effort on her part, along with rest, she was able to move around now, more than she was able to before. The feeling in her arms only felt that heaviness of gravity, which actually moving around should help counter.
Regaining what she could of her breathing, she had gone and repeated what she had been doing earlier, only now when she thought of the girl stretching her limbs, she had focused on exerting pressure to her legs. It was brief, although the effects were noticeable.
That feeling of being relieved, temporary or not, was good motivation. Her audible breathing was also a distraction to focus on, although not as on par. With this switch on her legs, she was starting to get into the habit of being able to run as well.
This brief release was just that rewarding for her. Moving around like this, and increasingly getting quicker to where she wanted, she couldn't help but feel amazed. The same kind of amazement she had felt when she had became a Vampire in the first place.
It brought a smile, and then a gasp, as her exertion had caught up to her. The way she was breathing, was between holding her breath, and short paces. It didn't really relieve having to work her lungs, but that could be done whenever she was forced to rest.
That was actually a lot more often than she really liked, but she at least got somewhere between it all. Eventually, the feeling of pressure on her body was something that became too much, and using the wall as support, she had gone and turned off the machine.
She was exhausted, but this is what working out would do. Her body would go on and adjust to this level of gravity with time, but until it did, she needed to put all the effort she could muster into getting use out of moving in this level of gravity.
Her breathing was still running rapid as she made her way out of the room, although she had purposely slowed it down, in the case that her servant was walking around somewhere. Exhausted or not, she couldn't allow showing such weakness to someone like her.
After being under extra gravity for so long, her walking had to adjust to normal gravity again. There wasn't any pain in doing so however, only how aware she was on how sore her body was, which a nice long bath would help her relieve such tension.
There were plenty of bathrooms around this place, but she had gone and made the effort to use one of the ones on the floor above. It was where the other girl had chosen to sleep, and she wanted to move past the girl's room. She had no real purpose for doing so, since it was always closed, ever since they started living together, though it was still nice to know she wasn't here alone.
A place as big as this, needed some company. If her own coven wasn't the private sort, she would consider even extending it to them. Although, since most of them were adults, it certainly wouldn't be for free. Nor should it really be either.
That was the benefit of being young, and with what this place had to offer, she certainly dreamt of making something more out of this place. The number of minions she wanted to have at her beck and call, would be not only loyal, but disposable.
A line of blood for her to feed on, without having to argue for such a meal. They would aid her when needed, but also die for her. What bonds that were established if any, would be surely missed, though nothing that needed to halt her own growth.
Passing by the girl's room, it was closed like she had thought, but the sound of a TV could be heard being played. Had she had gotten to the gravity room first, the girl likely would have been working out in her room, while waiting for the real thing. The girl might have had some issues, but it was comforting to know that she at least trained when she could, without being asked.
If the girl ever died, she would miss that about her.
