Cleo would be wandering the scorched earth known as the 'Wastes'. A land truly worth living on... If you were insane. Was Cleo insane? Nonsense. She was here because her family's resting place was near. Plus the desert was getting her stronger actually. Well, not really. It only made her just get used to the environment. "Bah... The buzzards aren't getting my flesh today!" she yelled out loud as buzzards followed her. They expected a fine meal out of her but in truth, she would probably make a meal out of them. She would stop for a brief moment and look at the dry, dusty ground with a frown. "Something tells me, today is a record.." she said to herself. She would gather saliva in her mouth and rinse her mouth all around with it. Gross, isn't it? However, it was to serve a purpose. With a wad of saliva ready, she would spit her saliva out and watch as it landed and automatically dried up to the soil once landing. "Oh my...." she said in a concerned voice.
She adjusted the bag on her back, frowning a bit. 'I could just fly... However, flying would drain me so fast in this heat. It'd be suicide to risk that. I need to survive..... I have too...' she thought consciously thought in the back of her head. She wasn't going to let the desert simply kill her off. She survived the Overwatch Citadel's destruction so what makes her think she'll die from this? She would continue on forward to find some kind of water. That is why she's out here after all. Just for freakin' water... Out in deadman's land. Glorious. Cleo would sigh as the heat wave continues to beat her down. "Maybe it's about time I do a regional 'scan'. It's going to be the only way I'm going to make it outta here with water," and with that said she would put her senses to use..
With a knee on the ground, she would gently pick up the sand and get a feel of ki signatures that could be sensed in the region. "Now... Let's see if I can sense a large majority of animals near some source of water!" she said with an optimistic feel. Before she knew it, she felt a beacon of hope. Just about a couple miles away over some sandy hills lies a source of a lot of animals. It was perfect. Cleo picked herself up and traveled forward towards the source of water. It took about half an hour but she eventually made it there... The sight was beautiful! A palm tree, buzzards surrounding it, and maybe a couple of cows. She smirked to herself, "Ah... Yes... Finally I can gather water and drink up to fly home!" she shouted in excitement, but this will all change. In the distance roared buggies of doom... "Oh no... Not these imbeciles again..." she said mumbling. She was referring to a desert bandit pack that goes around stealing people's stuff and these guys actually pack firepower. At least for her it's firepower. She would grumbled and throw her bag down... "Looks like I'm going to have to be passive on this one..." she said lightly to herself, awaiting for the bandits to arrive on the scene.

about Jie Shan Lan Dian
"Quotes are a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words."
Jie Shan hovered in the sky above the wastes, the hot and heavy air of the harsh environment weighing down on him, wrapping him in a blanket of uncomfortable heat. Sweat beaded at his brow, and he wiped it away in a swift motion before bringing his hand back up to cover his eyes. The two dark orbs glinted in the desert sun, following the horizon. Now this, he thought, reminded him of home. The Saiyan blood in his veins had been brewed by landscapes like this, aged like wine even. Evolution had forged at least part of his genetic material in environs like this. That didn't stop the red and blue clothes of his gi from sticking to his body from sweat; it did not stop his blade from feeling a little heavier on his back.
What had brought Jie Shan to this place, however, was no sense of nostalgia, no growing homesickness. What had brought him so far from his new mountain was simple curiosity. Jie Shan had always been a wanderer at heart, and though recent years had left him tied down, he felt an intense desire to get to know his new home. So, he'd left his home in the hands of his staff and new student and decided to make a day trip of it. And what that meant to him was picking a direction and flying in it until he hit something interesting.
And that had not exactly worked out for him. Now, Jie Shan was hovering in the warm skies and it was starting to have its effects on him. The man was more than used to the heat, having grown up and spent his childhood and formative years traipsing across harsh planets with his mother or under the crushing tutelage of his father. But damn, he needed a drink. If only he'd come across a bar...
With a sigh, Jie Shan closed his eyes. Now that he'd had his fill of the wastes, it was time to find civilization. His mind reached out, pouring over the area, looking for any signs of life. Animals mostly, he noted, but there was something else: a human? Someone with a high power level, especially for an Earthling. Well, thought Jie Shan, this could be interesting. Just what he was looking for. Nodding to himself, Jie Shan wiped the sweat from his brow once again and took off through the air, speeding towards the source of the ki. And as he sped along, he felt several other smaller ki signatures approaching his first target. Was he about to walk in on a meeting of sorts? Only one way to find out, he supposed.
In time, Jie Shan finally reached the source of the larger signature. For a moment, he hovered overhead, looking down. It seemed his mark had led him to an oasis, a beautiful blue gem in a sea of dead brown. But Jie Shan's eyes finally came to the source of the energy: a young girl. A fellow wanderer? Cocking an eyebrow, Jie Shan began to descend. And as he approached, Jie Shan raised a hand in greeting and shouted out. "Hey!" He exclaimed, "I don't suppose you know where the nearest bar is?"
He laughed at his own joke as his boots touched down onto the coarse terrain of the wastes. Jie Shan advanced towards her, long silvery hair trailing behind him. He bowed slightly, revealing the upper length of his blade as he did so.

Cleo would bite her teeth down... "Gah... I really don't want to fight these idiots... It'll be annoying to deal with them.." she said to herself softly as she kicked the sand behind her. This was all tough... Sweat just dripped down her cheeks as she sighed in aggravation. "Well, I'm just going to have to win this fight... Peacefully or not..." she said as she threw her trench coat off to reveal her fit and slim body. She wore all black plating down around but it was light material. She wiped the sweat dripping down her face off and took a deep breath. "Alright, I think it's time I get ready for this..." she said as suddenly it hits her. A massive power level unlike anything before would approach her. "W-What...? What is this power?! Is it a bandit? Oh no... I can't afford to lose this water..." she said with a weak whimper coming from her. She was feeling so doubtful about this whole situation.
"Maybe, it's my time to crack myself down and prepare for a final fight... I don't think I'll be surviving much longer now. However....." she said to herself as she hatched an idea. It was an idea that could become exhausting for her mentally but she's going to try it. She slowly puts two fingers on the side of her head and shuts them for a moment... 'Turn around at once... The Sand King is coming to sweep your waters... If you wish to live... Leave now at once!' she telepathically said towards the bandits far off. 'Feeble minds can listen but cannot respond. I just hope it works...' she thought to herself. Once she heard the buggies halt in the distance, it made her sigh in relief. Maybe, it's her lucky day on this part at least. With a loud RPM being heard, it high tails it back towards the other direction. Cleo simply smirked, 'Amateurs...'.
There was still one more thing left... It was the higher power level individual. She would fall on the ground but on her knees. She was feeling dehydrated and exhausted by this point. She could sense him landing near her but at a decent distance. She would look up just to see him approach her, asking for a bar. Thirst from hearing 'bar' made her collapse on the ground, lying her back in the dusty sands. That was all before he bowed in respect at least. She would feel that hot sun beating her soul out. Her beret would fall off her head as she looked up at the figure, "W-Water... I-I need that water..." she said with a pant. Her mouth felt too dry to speak right. She would look at the man with her brown eyes... Clearly, she was dehydrated. Very, very dehydrated. If she doesn't get water soon she may pass out... She would throw her arm backwards and point towards the little oasis. It was little water but it was enough to fill several barrels of water...

In the back of his mind, Jie Shan was vaguely aware of the fact that the other, smaller sources of energy were now turning about and taking off in the other direction. Hell, he thought, he could even hear it. The mechanical sound of engines grew further and further away, leaving him and the first source of energy alone. Cocking an eyebrow in surprise as he looked into the distance, he frowned ever so slightly. Now what had that been about? He felt as if he was missing something major here. Not that him missing out on major details was uncommon anymore, but it did not make it any less strange.
Moreoever, Jie Shan turned his eyes back on his original person of interest: and it was with great alarm that he now realized the women was struggling, on the brink of exhaustion or worse. A pointed feeling of worry ran through his body, up his spine like an electric current. It seemed he had come at just the right time. If he'd been any later, what would have happened to the girl? Perish the thought, he noted in his head, all that mattered was he was here now and he had to help.
The girl pointed towards the water with desperation, a weakness in her movements. A flash of recognition went through Jie Shan's eyes and he nodded. Yes, the girl desperately needed the water. "Alright," he said, his voice having gone from relatively cheery to deadly serious, "Let's get you something to drink, girl."
Jie Shan quickly shuffled over to the girl, and took a single knee beside her. His eyes ran over her, black Saiyan eyes looking for anything of note. These were eyes that had been trained into a sharp state of examination by years spent on the battlefield. Jie Shan had learned how to examine bodies for injury on hostile alien planets and in the rough and tumble training sessions on Planet Natto; now he was making sure that a dying girl on Earth had no other external injuries before he moved her. The last thing that the young Super Saiyan needed was for the girl's guts to fall out as he was moving her from point to point.
"If it hurts," muttered Jie Shan, quietly and trying to be as gentle sounding as he could, "Speak up and we'll figure something else out."
And with that, Jie Shan made to slip his hands beneath her arms. He moved gingerly, his hands softly moving through the air and towards the woman, lest he make matters worse. Assuming that she let him touch her and carry her, Jie Shan would make to move her towards the oasis, and when they reached the life giving edge of the pond, he would set her beside it and pool water in his hands, trying to give her water by hand.
If not, well, he'd figure something else there as she laid in the dusty surface of the wastes. It would not be his first rodeo like this.

'This heat is so unbearable... Was this guy hostile or a friend? I made one group run back, but will this one be my concern now?' she would think to herself. It was coming down to it as he approached her. Her teeth biting down. His power level was a giant compared to her own. If he wanted to... He could literally just crush her with a massive ki wave or something. However, after motioning him for water, he actually acknowledged it. Whether that was a good or bad thing would be debated by this point. She had concerns going through her head left and right. Was she going to be left here for dead? No... It wasn't at all now! He confirmed it, he's here to help! With that in mind, she would lightly sigh in relief and lightly smile at him with the sun beating down on her still! Her dark brown eyes visible for him to see that she's looking right up at him.
He took a knee over her but it was something she wasn't expecting.. He was examining her as if she was wounded or had blood on her... That made her a bit worried because by the time his examination would be done she would have probably passed out. "D-Don't worry... about me being hurt... I'm dehydrated like the lands around here... I need water..." she softly said as her voice was faint. However, if he would continue to examine her she would appear stable and fully intact for the most part... Other then the water needs. After several moments of what he needed to do, he'd finally gently pick her up and begin telling her that if this hurts, let him know. 'I really wish the kind guy would just speed this up. I'm about to dry up here...' she thought to herself. She wasn't able to speak much from this point as she was on the verge of unconsciousness. She would be carried over and released near the edge of the oasis which became so tempting for her... The saiyan would reach out and grab water just for her! Yay! FINALLY!!!
As he reached over, he would (assuming) pour the water down her mouth as she weakly opened up. The water felt forever it seemed as it would pour down her mouth. Though after this, it felt like a bit of fuel landed for her. As she had her mouth lubricated by water, she would just need one handful to roll into oasis and sink down. Would that be a concern for the saiyan? Well, he shouldn't! Bubbles made their way to the top as she would be underwater, drinking at least a dozen mouth fulls with all the energy she had left. It was incredible! She was finally getting what she needed! Her body was coming back up and fully functioning! She would pull herself up and her dark black hair would reflect the light as she made herself out of the water! The water was shallow but she was sitting in it. Her shoulders and up would be out of the water.. Breaths were taken out as she looked over at him, seemingly happy by what he just did. "My that was quite an odd introduction..." she would say to him with a happy expression. The saiyan would probably just know now she's alright which was good. "I traveled far out from my home to get water but today is a new record I think... The name's Cleopatra! However, you may call me Cleo... I'm an Ex-Lanza soldier from the Overwatch Citadel... Rough stuff over there. I luckily managed to make them goons high tail it around. Which means..." she said aloud as she had to think about it more... "Someone within that group has the ability to ki sense.." she said as she looked over at the Saiyan. She was still sitting in the water but she deserved it. She almost had her own cells dry up on her!

The girl let him carry her to the edge of the water, thankfully. Having ignored her protests about her lack of injury, Jie Shan was now tending the girl by pouring water into her mouth. What came next surprised Jie Shan: the girl began to roll towards the water. He gave a start, and reached out to stop her before the young girl rolled into the water, but it was too late, he'd reacted too slowly. The girl dropped into the water with an unceremonious splash and his jaw went tight as he scrambled to the side to retrieve the girl from the water. Muttering under his breath, Jie Shan was near in a panic. Had he just saved a girl from death by dehydration only to send her to her doom by drowning? Jie Shan knew that the forces that be were cruel and fond of irony, but couldn't he catch a break? Heart beating, Jie Shan was about to reach into the refreshingly blue water of the oasis when the girl broke the surface of the water, all wet and surprisingly lively. Jie Shan, startled, reared backwards and fell on his backside, staring at the girl in stark surprise.
She spoke. "Indeed," muttered Jie Shan, still processing what had happened, "Odd introductions indeed. Not quite what I was expecting when I flew out here, I'll admit."
The girl told him her story, and Jie Shan squinted at her, brow furrowed. Cleopatra, he noted, or Cleo as she had insisted. What she explained next, however, really took him aback. An ex-Lanza soldier? And from the Overwatch Citadel? Two ghosts from the back of Jie Shan's mind came screeching like demons to the forefront. He, of course, had not paid the Lanza much mind since the group had paid a visit to Natto a long time ago now, to treat with Overseer Nasu. Now that had been a headache and a half, remembered Jie Shan, but what really shook him was the mention of the Overwatch Citadel. Jie Shan had been there once and only once, and it was not under pleasant circumstances. Jie Shan had been the first on the scene to try and save the city from a rampaging Komatsu who had turned into some sort of Great Ape and Super Saiyan hybrid. Jie Shan still remembered that night, he still remembered such earth-shaking power that the young Saiyan had wielded, how the young Saiyan had decimated the city. A little seed of anger sprouted in Jie Shan's stomach as he remembered the events of that night; not only what had happened with Komatsu, but the arrival of that one bastard and his posse of fighters. Jie Shan himself had done battle with some kind of Namekian and defeated it, though he spared the slug-like alien.
Still, Jie Shan suppressed his emotions and nodded to the girl, trying to offer something of a smile to her. "Nice to meet you," said Jie Shan, "Though I'm sure we both wish it were under less dire circumstances."
And Jie Shan pondered what she had said about that group that turned around. She made them leave? One could sense ki? Slowly, it dawned on Jie Shan: whoever they were, Cleopatra had not wanted them to come along. Jie Shan pursed his lips and shook his head. "Huh," mumbled the hybrid, "Well, water under the bridge now. Maybe I ought to come back here sometime and pay them a visit..."
Jie Shan shook his head. "Oh well," muttered Jie Shan, "I'm Jie Shan Lan Dian, by the way. I- You know what, my story really isn't that important. I was just taking a look around when I sensed your energy. Figured I'd swing by and say 'hello'. Guess it's a good thing that I did. Looks like you didn't have a leg to stand on, about as dry as the rest of this place."
Jie Shan chuckled lightly to himself. Pulling himself to his feet, Jie Shan ruffled his clothes, brushing the wasteland dust from his body. He offered a bow once again before taking a moment to stand in silence. A thoughtful look came over his face and he ran a single hand through silvery hair. "So," said Jie Shan, "Ex-Lanza and the Overwatch Citadel. Now that's an unfortunate story if I've ever heard one. You have my condolences. I... I know first hand just how bad things were at the Overwatch Citadel."
Jie Shan's voice grew somber and a deep frown grew on his face.

The water felt so refreshing to her body. It was surprisingly just right. Not too cold and not too hot! Cleo would adjust herself as she sat in the water a bit longer to cool off from the exhausting trip. A cow that sat in the water, made a loud moo which caused the rest of the cows to rush out of the water and run off into the desert. She turned her neck to look over, "Such strange creatures..." she said as she relaxed in the water. The scene wasn't as awkward as earlier but now Cleo got the hang of the guy being there. She didn't see him as a threat at all actually. With a smile, she listened to his response and agreement that this was an odd way of introducing one another. Herself nearly dead and him coming out for a bar jokingly. She would snicker a bit as he would exchange a nice to meet you back. He then stated that it was probably better if the situation wasn't dire which made her throw her own hand up and shake her head. "No, no... It's okay. I would have died out here with water just a few feet away if it wasn't for you. Trust me, telepathy is a draining ability to use," she said as she dropped her hand back into the water.
The saiyan would make a comment about coming back here to 'visit' them but that simply made her laugh. She would shake her head with a chuckle, "Oh don't worry about those dimwits... They're like little bullies in the playground trying to steal your lunch money... I honestly wouldn't worry about them. From what I've heard about their little operations, they're actually falling apart slowly. It's going to be a mess for them apparently. Their leader is suicidal, the rest of the group are unstable. Eventually something will kill them off. It's not going to be me though! I don't have the heart to simply go after an unstable group of people who can't even fend for themselves against someone like me," she said laughing a bit. She would look towards him as he would start explaining that he actually sensed her which made her concerned but before she'd give him a smile to hear his name.. "Ah... It is a pleasure, Jie!" she said but now frowning. "So you were able to sense me? I guess I forgot to suppress my ki signature. I've been hiding my ki signature for months because I'm afraid the same group who attacked the Citadel would come back and go after me," she explained herself. She would slowly pull herself up out of the water and twist her hair to dry her hair. She would walk out of the water and would approach her trench coat to reach for something underneath. Not one thing, not two.. but three things... She'd pull out 1 gallon plastic containers! Approximately 3. She would walk over back to the water and quickly begin talking again before the Saiyan could talk, "You see Jie... The desert is quite harsh. Indeed, if it wasn't for you I'd be a goner. I was glad you weren't bad because for some odd reason... When I sensed your energy your energy felt so familiar. I don't know if it's because of my old leader's power but it feels like I've met you before," she would say.
So, she was able to remember Jie's signature back when the OWC was under major attack but she couldn't recall when. She would shrug and smile, carrying the containers to the water to fill them up, "Bah, I think I must have had a dream to think I could remember you!" she said in a joyful tone. She would begin filling her water containers but heard him say something about being an Ex-Lanza soldier and apart of the Overwatch Citadel which made her nervous a bit... "Y-You... know about it?" she asked as she turned her head. She completely stopped filling the waters and focused on him entirely now. She would twist her body back and let the containers sit idle. "I was originally a cadet for a program in the city. We were to train to become soldiers until we were of age and also help fellow citizens. I was never for war... I was only in it to help people. However, I did question the Lanza a lot. The leader known as Saki... He was a bit..." she would stop before twisting her fingers around near her head to show that he was a bit nuts. "I never really understood why my parents wanted to go to the Overwatch Citadel. I always thought my family was perfect the way it was... Helping people out over caring about ourselves... It may sound crazy but we loved people. We cared about ourselves too but something in our hearts told us that pleasing people and taking care of them was an outstanding thing to do," she carried on to say.
Cleo would shake her head quickly, "Now... I really don't know anymore... I saved someone in the O.W.C. and in the process of that I lost my entire family. Sometimes I think caring too much for others is a deadly thing," she said as she sighed in a bit of grief. She'd look at the ground the whole time, not really looking at Jie's eyes because she was simply too sad too show her expression. "I don't know who was responsible for it. I honestly think it had something to do with that 'Kami' figure Saki and the 'mysterious' leader would complain about but even if it was... I'm not the type to hold a grudge," she would tell Jie as her voice seemed soft and sad. She'd turn around and continue to fill the containers up, "Sometimes if you seek vengeance, you'll end up corrupting your own soft soul. That's why I haven't raged myself over it," Cleo would finish.
Though the situation was now awkward... Jie would probably have the vibe that Cleo isn't too angry over who did it. She's probably just upset over 'why' they did it too begin with.

Jie Shan cocked an eyebrow as she said not to worry about the group who had turned about and ran with their tails between their legs. And she had all but confirmed that they were bandits. Bandits who where not very good at their jobs, by the sounds of it. And she claimed that she was more than capable of handling the group, but she would not, citing matters of heart. Jie Shan shrugged. If Cleo said so, he supposed, but still, the idea of a bandit group running wild in the wastes did not appeal very much to Jie Shan, even if they were a small time group. He stuck that in the back of his mind, for if he was ever bored one afternoon and needed something to do. Provided they did not collapse in on themselves by then. "Well," said Jie Shan, "If you insist."
The girl said it was a please, but his eye twitched ever so slightly. His name, he thought, was Jie Shan. Not just 'Jie'. Why did everyone always forget the first part of his name?! He brushed it off, saying nothing. Instead, he'd let it be something of a nickname. Somethings were not worth the effort of correct, he mused. And this matter was among such things. The more pressing matter, however, was quite disconcerting. She'd been hiding out the past few months on account of the Citadel? And she even thought recognized his ki?
Jie Shan frowned softly and placed his hands behind his head, letting out a small sigh with his eyes wide.If the girl could sense ki, it was a distinct possibility she had sensed his. Damn likely, even. Jie Shan had been one of the first people on the scene at the Citadel, and he's arrived as a Super Saiyan. Anybody who could sense ki was going to notice, even if his power had been dwarfed by Komatsu's at the time. This, he thought, was not what he had expected. How strange how things like this shake out. Never did Jie Shan think he would encounter one of the survivors from the Citadel. But, as usual, it seemed that his fate was taking the winding road. But Jie Shan said nothing, instead letting the girl continue to speak, insisting it must have been a dream, a false phantom of some kind of fake memory.
The girl went on to explain the situation with the Lanza and the Citadel. She even referenced Saki, calling him a little crazy. She was not wrong, Jie Shan thought with a smirk. The hybrid had met the man once and only once, and that had been enough. The Lanza had seemed an odd duck, and not one that Jie Shan had particularly cared for. Still, he thought, sad that the man's city had fallen. Still, Jie Shan nodded solemnly as she explained her time with her family. And how she had lost them after saving someone during the ravaging of the city. "They sound like they were good people," he muttered quietly, "A shame about that. The world needs good people."
Jie Shan sounded tired when he said that, the heavy words ringing true. The way Jie Shan saw it, the world tended towards darkness, and it needed good people to push back. But he listened to her regale him still. It was heavy stuff. Damn it, thought Jie Shan, he'd not wanted to come out here for this. He was looking for a bar, not a heart to heart, not a sob story. But he felt bad for the girl. Jie Shan really, truly did. The halfblood was no stranger to grief, after all.
As she finally finished, Jie Shan closed his eyes and tried to concentrate. "I was there," he began, "I was one of the first people there to try and save the Citadel, if not the first. That night... That night was chaos, pure and simple. And it only got worse as the night dragged on. I can barely make sense of it myself."
He dropped his hands and opened his eyes. "I'm sorry for your loss. I really am," said Jie Shan, "I can't imagine the pain."
Jie Shan caught his tongue. He could have said something else. He could have explained Komatsu, the arrival of that bastard. But he did not. Instead, Jie Shan said one more thing, shaking his head softly. "Sometimes," he said, barely a whisper, "It's not vengeance. It's justice."

Again it was but a sad thing to listen too. Cleo doesn't come across good people everyday so this was her time to let things out a bit. She was pretty lonely out here in these wastes. She had no one to talk to, no faces to see, and no one to smile for. Jie Shan was the first in a very long time she could smile too. She would fill her water for the first container but would hear him say that world needed more good people. "The good are always needed. Without good, what is bad? Bad would be a common occurrence for the world, an occurrence that would be seen actually 'good' when in reality it can be so much better," she wisely told Jie. She would put the water container aside and prepare the second one, putting in submerged in the water. "My mother has told me a quote once. A quote I will probably cherish for the rest of my life. Shoot, it's a quote I'd probably even overuse," she said as she would look down at the water. This quote to be spilled forth would be something an old woman would say. Cleo adjusted herself on the sand, sighing... "Only Good dogs go to Heaven. The Bad simply fade into the nether," she said with a hint of sadness. Saying a quote like that automatically makes her think of the good dogs being her family up somewhere in peace.
After filling up the second gallon, she puts that aside and gets the third ready until she hears something that would haunt her. He was there... That made her completely stop and turn her head towards him, though her back still towards him. "You were... there?" she asked in a shocked tone. Her arms shaking a bit. Oh no... She suddenly turned herself to listen to more Jie had to say. It was more about him being there to attempt to save people but failed.. "You mean... My dream wasn't fake..? It was an actual reality? You were one of the signatures I felt?!" she said out loud in a bit of shock. She didn't know how to feel about Jie. She's now staring at someone who was there during that havoc moment. She would take a few deep breaths and sighs. "I guess I should listen to my ki signature memory more," she said as she turned back around to fill her water. He apologized for that night but she simply shook her head, "Don't be so sorry... From what I can feel, you weren't the one responsible. You were doing the greater thing and trying to stop it. Honestly, it makes me feel more at ease that there were others there to help... A shame though how the whole city ended up falling.."
Cleo was a bit emotionless a bit. She didn't know how to feel about Jie letting that out like that... However, she accepted it. She didn't feel angry about it. Finally, Jie would point out sometimes it's not vengeance to avenge others but rather justice. She would turn her neck, "It depends how you see it. The one responsible for killing hundred of people... What would you feel is justice? Killing them? Putting them behind bars? It's really hard to say what justice is. I don't know quite sure myself how justice works because what you put that individual through may end up making you look very bad," Cleo would top off.

What Jie Shan wanted to say was that bad was indeed a common occurrence in the world. In fact, Jie Shan would err on saying that universe was inherently predisposed to being 'bad', that mortals, and aye even the immortal, oft had a natural inclination towards the darker side. Sure, the dark came in varying shades, but it did not change the fact that it was, in his mind, the predominant coloring of the universe. A shame, really. But Jie Shan listened to the girl and her mother's quote, and he thought it was a very fine statement and all, but the Saiyan-Elemi halfling simply nodded aand said, "Sounds like your mother had some wisdom. It's sad she's departed."
Jie Shan watched and listened as the girl continued to fill her water and continue to speak. He nodded at her questions; yes, Jie Shan had been there. For better or for worse, he had been there and been apart of the fighting there. Jie Shan could not help but feel slightly responsible for the fighting. Komatsu was, or at least he had been at the time, one of Jie Shan's compatriots. Even if the hybrid was at no real fault, Jie Shan could not help but feel the wispy shadow of guilt over him, hanging like mist. If only, thought Jie Shan, he'd made contact with the Alliance on Earth faster, he could have provided counsel or weighed in, or done anything at all to make sure that would not have happened!
Yes," said Jie Shan, "I was there. Indeed, you felt my ki. And probably many others. It was a night that many of the great powers on this planet, and beyond, arrived to fight. What turned into a rampage turned into a full blown battle, as you well know."
Shame indeed. Ironic, thought Jie Shan, that the Alliance was oft said to represent something more than the baser Saiyan impulses to destroy but it had been by the hand of the founder's son that another city had fallen, struck down by what might have been one of the most awesome and terrifying displays of power Jie Shan had ever seen. So much for ideals.
But it all did come back to ideals. "What is my idea of justice?" Asked Jie Shan, his voice grave, "Why, that depends on the crime. In the case of your Overwatch Citadel, aye, perhaps killing the perpetrator would be appropriate. And beyond that, execution, imprisonment? They're all justice, some more extreme than others. Believe me when I say that sometimes killing those who would do greater harm is the only appropriate way to mete out justice. Some people are so far gone, so evil, that they cannot be redeemed, nor is it safe to imprison them. They will hurt and hurt, draining this world until there's nothing left. It's better to put an end to it, lest by letting them go free you damn scores more."
Jie Shan nodded, his resolve high. "Justice," he said, "Is being sure to do right by the world. Justice is not always fair nor is it always pretty. And sometimes it requires you to ask more of yourself to have the strength to carry it out or the resolve, but... Well, let's just say, sometimes you need to shoulder the bad that comes with justice and know that you've done the greater good."
The greater good, thought Jie Shan. How an important a rule that was.
"Now," said Jie Shan, continuing very quickly, "Tell me, girl, what do you plan to do next? Seems to me you can't go on living like this."

It was quite sad to hear that Jie was involved in that horrible incident. It was worse for Cleo because she couldn't actually help Jie and these 'others'. Instead, she had her own battle below which involved the people she could save and her family. Which at the end turned into a major stale situation. She lost her family in the progress of all that chaos. She would give another sigh to hear the story about him being there that awful night to try and protect the city from doom. It was so depressing to hear that the city couldn't be saved in time. It was emotionally sad to just hear it all. She would close her eyes and kinda stop what she was doing. She needed to process this all. She needed to completely digest this all in one go. And finally... She needed to come up with a solution to the problem present in front of her. She would however listen in to what Jie Shan had to say what justice was. Justice was something that was could vary. In this case where this 'enemy' stands, it should be execution. That made her feel nervous about killing them... To her, killing someone for their inhumane crimes is just as bad. However, she really doesn't know full details on what is justice. Justice to Jie was the common point everyone else had. She would stand up slowly and quickly grip her fist. She wasn't getting mad at Jie but rather at the one who attacked the Citadel...
She looked down at the gallon of water and thrusts her foot into the plastic container, sending it off! It flies several hundred miles per hour which could surprise Jie. She used all her strength in that. However, if a true powerful warrior of Jie's level kicked it... The whole thing would just explode. She would hear Jie as her, what will she do..? She slowly released her fists.. "You know what I'm going to do?" she said, not looking at Jie. She would stay silent for a moment before turning towards him with a smirk... "I'm going to actually going to train now. Train myself to become strong so that will never happen again. I want to be the Earth's true guardian. The one who will step into anything to make sure Earth is safe! I won't allow for this to ever happen again...!" she shouted with an optimistic tone.
Cleo was ready to take on the challenge to protect Earth now. She's ready to get her feet wet. Above all, she's ready to protect the people she loves. The people of Earth! However, she needs to start somewhere... "Jie... I have an idea.. You seem so strong! Could you possibly teach me how to get stronger? How to grow to your level? I'd really like to know how to expand and become strong enough to protect this planet," she'd ask him. It was now up to Jie... Take her in... Or just leave her here.

The girl kicked her own water in defiance, sending the container of liquid barreling away at what seemed like the speed of sound. Now, thought Jie Shan, that was just a waste of good water. Funny thing for someone who had just been dying of thirst to do, but he'd done odder himself during emotionally trying times. She turned to him and spoke.
No, Jie Shan did not know what the girl was going to do. He was not clairvoyant, he did not see the future, nor did he read minds. In fact, that was the whole point in him asking: that he just did not know, and he had some measure of concern for the girl. But as she turned towards him, a smirk on her face, an idea of what she was going to say next began to flower in the fertile banks of Jie Shan's mind.
A wide smile broke out on his face as she spoke, her resolve now obvious to him. She was going to train? Trainer harder than ever before? Jie Shan liked the sound of that, the very idea appealing to the Saiyan side of his genetics and her reasoning appealing to the moral creature in his soul. "To be a guardian is a lofty goal," remarked Jie Shan, his smile still wide and bright, "A lofty one, but an entirely worthy one. Set yourself to it, and I know you can do it."
What the girl suggested next, however, took him aback. She wanted him to train her? Jie Shan cocked his head sideways and gave her an appraising look. She was just a girl, he realized. A young girl with more ideals than strength and a drive forged by grief. Jie Shan had been wanting to take on students, lately and he had the know-how and facilities to train people into fighters, but the young halfblood had a shadow of doubt in his mind. Was it right of him to thrust someone so young along the path of a warrior? It was a harsh one, one that Jie Shan had been forced to walk himself.
And, his own resolve coming forth, he knew it was damn well right. The girl had all the reason in the world to pursue strength and Jie Shan found her reasons so... right. It would be wrong for him to turn her away, especially when her reasons were so pure. A serious look grew on his face, and Jie Shan stepped closer to her, to the edge of the pond. He nodded at her, folding his arms at his chest. "I'll take you in," said Jie Shan, "I'll break you and remake you, make you just as strong as me. Because this world needs more protectors and, for some crazy reason, I think you've got the right stuff."
Jie Shan smirked and laughed. "Of course, it won't be easy. But nothing worth doing is easy, right?"
Jie Shan held his hand out and offered to help her from the water. "At least you won't have to do it alone. Teamwork can go a long way. So, if you're ready, we'll head for my place. I got a spare room near the dojo you can shack up in during training."

It became clear for her objective. She didn't want to dry up like this again in a desert. No, she wanted to become strong for this world and prevent others from dying again. She would listen to Jie Shan state that being guardian is a lofty goal but a goal she'd take. He gave her a serious look but she gave him an optimistic look back. She wasn't going to be beaten down. However, he stated that she will be broken and rebuilt which made her chuckle. It made her smile to hear that she's probably got the right stuff for this. "I appreciate that!" she said with her optimistic look. Jie would simply smirk at her and laugh, saying it won't be easy. She knew it wouldn't but she'll become strong enough to fight anything that dared to rival her.
Jie Shan confirmed it. He was ready to take her in. Even though just meeting her... She could trust him for this, "Alright let's go! Hopefully you needed water because there's plenty here to last us awhile!" she said to him, giving him a chuckle. She'd grab her own trench coat and put it on... Goodbye Desert, hello training!

Jie Shan smiled wide once again. "I don't think we'll need water where we're going. It's a bit cooler up north, but much more... hospitable. At least in my opinion."
He slowly took off into the air, staring down at her and beckoning for her to follow him. As he rose, he turned himself about slightly and pointed himself northward towards his new earthen home. Well, he thought as he faced the horizon, this was not what he had expected at all when he had left his home today. Rudieri, he thought, would treat the girl as a puppy, like some stray Jie Shan had picked up on his outing.
But strays made the best dogs, he thought. Loyal and tough, they had the determination to keep on kicking in life. In many ways, Jie Shan oft felt like a stray himself, but hey: they made good dogs.
And as someone had just told him: only good dogs go to Heaven.
