Several Namekians and even a few humans and aliens sat along the walls of the dojo as two fighters sparred intensely within the center mats. A exhibition match of sorts was taking place as the new Guru of planet Namek, Piyano and the one time master of the warrior clan school of martial arts, Hanjo were locked in furious battle. One Namekian year ago Hanjo would have dominated any fight between this pair, his massive strength and size were matched only by his incredible skill and training. Hanjo was still believed by many to be the greatest warrior upon Namek, and so it was at the warrior's request that Piyano sparred with him now. Weeks ago the mantle of master had been passed over to Piyano, yet eager to learn students still sought after Hanjo for training. Piyano had been surprised that the man had requested his assistance, but Piyano had readily agreed with a single condition. The great warrior Hanjo had to assist Piyano with finishing the Guru's new style of combat.
For a long while during the exhibition match Piyano stuck to the Warrior Clan school methods of fighting. When the crowd grew excitable enough and willing enough to acknowledge Piyano as the new master of the school, the Guru had began swapping into his newly developed style. Those in witness buzzed with shock and delight as Piyano new methods of attack and defense shook Hanjo off his guard. A style designed to counter the aggressive physical styles of others, Piyano's Enlightened Mind techniques were forcing Hanjo to his limits, only the previous master's extreme skill had prevented Piyano from knocking the man out already. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised you came up with all this on your own. Your just the kind of sneaky bastard to use these cheap tricks in combat." Hanjo said as he chopped through a illusionary image of Piyano, before turning in place to block the Guru's flying knee strike that had been incoming from the mans rear. Months ago Hanjo's voice would have been filled with rage as he spoke those words, today however the big man seemed almost brimming with mirth.
Piyano and Hanjo had never been close, but the pair had learned to come together over the months. It seemed Hanjo was enjoying the genuine struggle of competing against Piyano's new techniques. Piyano was enjoying the spar as well, however he planned to end things soon with the pinnacle move of the Enlightened Mind style; something he was certain even Hanjo couldn't handle. Thick fingers wrapped around Piyano's knee than and his body jerked violently as Hanjo threw him hard to the side. The Guru spun in flight and landed heel first against one of the dojo's many support pillars, which he used as a jumping off point to avoid a following KI blast. "You say tricks I say tactics!... Want to end this like gentleman? One last attack each?" Piyano asked as he hit the ground in a roll, coming up to his feet ready for anything. Hanjo's arms had already been stretching out to try and catch the nimble Guru, but at Piyano's challenge the warrior Namekian stopped his assault in drew his elongated limbs back into himself. "If you think your man enough sure, why not test things power to power." Hanjo said as the two combatants squared odd. Both assuming a posture in reminiscence to a high noon standoff.
The warrior Namekian brought his hands together in a cupped form before his chest, green electricity concentrating down his arms to begin building a powerful orb of light between his palms. It seemed Hanjo was preparing a Light Grenade for his finisher, except Piyano could see the obvious difference between Hanjo's grenade and his own. The Warrior Namekian had clearly spent time developing a more powerful version of the attack. The energy radiating off the orb only hinted at it's power, Piyano guessing it could blow away mountains at full power. The Guru was far from worried however, as his faith in his own technique was absolute. Even as Hanjo pumped more power into his grenade, Piyano could only grin before vanishing from sight. The disappearance barely registered as a surprise to Hanjo, whom merely reached out with his senses to locate the Guru. Until the warrior realized he couldn't. Hanjo allowed his Light Grenade to falter as he shook his head in search of Piyano. At first the man had believed Piyano had merely used a afterimage level technique, but now the man knew he couldn't sense or see the man anywhere. "Where did he go?" Hanjo asked aloud to the gathered crowd, each of them wearing a shocked expression upon their faces, a few even pointed right at him.
"I'm right here friend." Piyano finally said, suddenly reappearing directly in front of Hanjo. Piyano's clawed fingers were laid out flat along Hanjo's chest, yet somehow the warrior hadn't felt them until that moment. Puzzled by his defeat Hanjo pushed Piyano's hand off of him and gave the Guru a stern look, "How, you aren't that fast." he asked with a slight edge to his voice. "I erased myself from your senses, all of them. I have been perfecting this for weeks on my friends. I can hide myself completely for several seconds, long enough for me to touch you without you even knowing it." Piyano explained, turning to lecture those gathered, and not just Hanjo. "I think that is all for today however, thank you all for coming and please. I would love for you all to visit us again in the future." Piyano said seeing anger in Hanjo's eyes. Several in the gathered crowd gave soft boos at being asked to leave, but everyone eventually left with happy smiles and polite goodbyes. Finally only Hanjo and Piyano remained.
"Why were some of them pointing at me?" the gruff man asked when they were alone. "Because they could all see me. My technique only effects the victim. In this case you, what everyone else saw was me simply walking up to you and placing my hand upon your chest." Piyano said, revealing in full detail the events Hanjo had at once been present for, yet could never have perceived. Hanjo seemed none to happy by the news, but after a few shrugs and grunts he seemed to calm some, Piyano guessed the man just didn't like not understanding. After a few more moments Hanjo turned to look at Piyano more fully, "Still you helped me out and I should get some peace and quiet now. What did you need help with, your style seems fairly complete to me?" Hanjo asked, remembering his part of the bargain. Piyano's own mood seemed to brighten as it became apparent he and Hanjo weren't going to have a actual fight over the events of their sparring.
"Ah yes, I was hoping you could help me find something. Do you know of the Kulujin Meteor?" Piyano asked, to which Hanjo only nodded. "Do you know when it will pass by Namek next?" the Guru followed up. Hanjo seemed confused by the question, but he scratched at his chin in thought before giving his reply. "Two weeks I believe. Why, it will be another thousand years before our astrologists say it will align with us in a collision course. Plenty of time for us to summon Porunga to move it away." A knowing grin came to Piyano's lips even as he thanked Hanjo and rushed the man out his door with a hasty goodbye. If the warrior was correct than it meant Piyano had two weeks to prepare.
Weeks later Piyano sat in deep meditation in his dojo, he had asked his friends to leave the lookout that day as well. Allowing him complete solitude for his secret task. The dojo ceiling had been pulled back that morning, allowing sunlight to flood the large training room. Leaning back in his cross legged position Piyano allowed himself to fall until he lay face up upon the floor, his gaze filling with the vast sky that hung overhead. Two of Namek's three suns could be seen through the exposed roof, and so two could a smaller object be seen in the sky. A violet streak lined after the slow moving heavenly body that Piyano knew to be the Kulujin Meteor. Compared to the two suns the meteor was nothing great, barely the size of a zeni held up at arms length. Piyano knew better however, the meteor was nearly half the size of Namek and in a thousand years Namekian astronomers claimed the might hunk of rock would collide with the planet. It was what was known as a 'rogue killer' a single asteroid that could end life on any planet it struck.
No one on Namek was worried from the meteor, a thousand years was a long time even for Piyano's people and everyone simply expected the village chieftains to simply summon a dragon and wish the meteor gone. In truth even Piyano himself wasn't worried about the large rock, instead he saw it as a means to an end to complete his training. Staring up at the lazily flying meteor Piyano let out a deep breath and closed his eyes. It was time to get started. Reaching out with his mind and focusing his KI, Piyano left his corporeal body behind him. A trick he learned by obtaining the title of Guru Piyano floated through space as a spirit. Normally a means used to commune with Otherworld Piyano was adapting the technique at the moment to further his own use. Propelled at the speed of thought Piyano traveled faster than he ever could with his living body, his astral form reaching the meteor within several minutes.
Looking down upon the violet rock, a sharp and dead thing of dagger like spires and wickedly edged stone Piyano momentarily wondered where the meteor had come from? Had it broken off of a planet that had seen a untimely end? Or had it always just been this, a twisted formation of jagged stone? In the end it didn't matter, Piyano would never learn where the great meteor had come from, it's existence was just another mystery of the universe that would forever go unsolved. When Piyano finished his pondering the mans spirit begin to focus, now that Piyano could see the meteor he knew where to place the mental strings for his technique. After nearly another full minute Piyano finished connecting his psychic energies to the great stone and summoned his spirit back to his body.
A sudden jolting rush filled Piyano as he snapped his eyes open and found himself laying upon the floor of his dojo once again. Gasping in air from the sudden release of his spirit medium technique the Guru took several minutes to calm himself and lay still as he began the next and final step. KI building to a breaking point within his mind Piyano charged his technique, he released his full power for perhaps the first time since his fusion with master Clarin in what felt like so long ago. Feeling his power connect with the surface of the distant meteor Piyano willed it to move. A great resistance met him, even thinking the word caused a great pain to lance through the Guru's thoughts, but Piyano pressed forward; pitting his will against the seemingly impossible task he had chosen to take up in secret. "Push... Push... PUSH!" he yelled without hearing, Piyano's hands clenched without feeling, his nose and eyes bleed without his knowing as he put his all into willing the meteor to deviate its course with his mind. The one sense Piyano allowed himself to retain was sight, as he lay upon the floor staring into the sky above.
All across Namek people watched as the violet tail of the Kulujin Meteor streaked in a great curve. The massive world ender having turned away from Namek and begun a new course into one of the planets three suns. Thousands of people watched in awe as the violet stone sank into the blistering yellow fires, they watched until eye strain forced them to look away from the amazing site. Through it all Piyano watched until the stone was completely consumed by flame. His technique at it's end the Guru wiped blood, sweat, and tears from his face. Smearing the sticky mess along his vest Piyano simply lay still upon the floor until exhaustion claimed him. In his dreams the Guru knew only blissful darkness for hours until he finally came too.
A Saibamen lay next to Piyano on a thick bed, the grey skinned creature snoring loudly as it was sprawled along as much of the mattress as its small size would allow. Careful to get up without waking Sprout, Piyano left his bedroom... someone had moved him while he slept it seemed, out into the living room. Three people were all asleep on several sofas, Piper and Hanjo on one each. Nitei was there as well, accept she had filled a great curved bowl with her liquid body. It was obvious than that his friends had found him and put Piyano into bed. The Guru could only smile softly as he noticed his friends had changed his messy vest and cleaned his face. Now that Piyano's torturous self training was complete the Namek decided he needed to spend more time with his family. "I think its time I take a break from passing out on the dojo floor." Piyano mumbled to himself with a smile.
End.
