about Jie Shan Lan Dian
"Quotes are a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words."
It was time for a little rest and relaxation. Not that Jie Shan had ever really stopped doing that since he arrived on Earth. A dull smirk crossed his face as he remembered the first time he had landed on Earth: he'd brought the wayward Hero with him and two Saiyan warrior women. Of course that had been three years ago when he had first penciled that vacation into his itinerary. Since then, he'd never quite turned the page, or maybe he had thrown out the itinerary all together. Not that it mattered. Jie Shan had no Natto to return too. He was left on Earth in a permanent oddyssey, home taken from him. But what could he do?
Jie Shan knew what he could do. Jie Shan dropped out of the sky like a clap of thunder, feet smacking into the warm, grainy sand of one of Earth's southern beaches. Dark sunglasses obscured his dark Saiyan eyes, and tropical sunlight glinted off his bare, muscular chest. A tail swayed happily behind him, sprouting from a hole cut near the waistband in his custom made swimming trunks. An umbrella over one shoulder, a cooler fool of booze on the other, and a beach blanket couple with a few books tucked tight beneath the crook of his arm; Jie Shan was ready for the beach. Of course, his trusty blade was still strapped tightly to his back, the coarse leather of its sheath slightly itchy against the small of his back. But it did not matter! It was time to enjoy himself.
Jie Shan had made for one of the popular beaches and as he made his way down the sandy terrain, he noticed a few wayward glances in his direction. A look of confusion ran across his face, obscured by his sunglasses, before he realized: the Earthlings most be looking at his tail. He shrugged it off, instead heading down to the beach near the shoreline to begin to set-up his relaxation station, blissfully unaware that he stuck out like a sore thumb to anyone with eyes or the ability to sense ki.

Amarath had been sitting back pressed up against one of the trees just behind the beach, his jacket lay beside him in the grass. With nowhere else to go he'd found his way to the beaches. He could see them all, the humans running around, enjoying their time and having a relaxed day at the beach. They were all laughing and playing in the sand, no doubt unaware of the alien watching over them. As he sat he pondered his next move. He had left behind the monks where he'd taken up residence, with nothing else left to learn from them he preferred not to move backwards. Going home wasn't an option, for the last three years he'd had no home to go back to. Staying here wouldn't do him any good, what he needed was a place to grow stronger.
He was abruptly interrupted by a man landing on the beach. Moments later as he stood tall it became obvious he's a Saiyan. While he was more lean and had gray hair, the tail was unmistakable. And it seemed this Saiyan particular Saiyan had also come for a beach day. But his sudden appearance didn't surprise Amarath nearly as much as his power did. Even as he sat there Amarath could feel it, the intense power coming from that man was like nothing he'd felt in a very long time. Amarath got up grabbing his jacket he started heading down for the beach himself. He had no love for small talk but this was one opportunity he wasn't gonna let go. Maybe this was exactly what he needed to grow in strength. He'd never find out if he never tried.
Getting down to the part of the beach where the Saiyan is setting up camp he'll walk right up to the him and speak. No doubt the two of them, his tail wrapped around his waist the other one's tail swinging about made for a sight, but he couldn't be bothered. "You know you're noticeable for miles right? We both are at this point." He says all of this as a joke but with an all too serious manner about him. Even as he speaks he is facing the ocean rather than directly at the Saiyan.

And who was this? A creeping sensation came over Jie Shan as he was suddenly aware of the newly revealed power level that was near him. Jie Shan, in his decidedly blissfully unaware state, did not even notice the energy until the man was upon him and already speaking. Jie Shan's head snapped to the side, and his eyes fell on a young man, one probably a few years his junior. The man spoke without looking at Jie Shan, the young man's dark eyes instead trained on the ocean. Just what was so interesting about that, thought Jie Shan, that the boy could not deign to turn his gaze on the man he was addressing. Still, thought Jie Shan, the boy was strong. Much too strong to be an average Earthling. Jie Shan looked him up and down before his eyes fell on the furry brown tail wrapped tight around the waist of the man, like a living belt.
"I like to be noticed," scoffed Jie Shan, "I think it suits me. And besides-"
Jie Shan looked at the crowd milling about, the various ladies dressed for a day at the beach. "If I was going to be noticed, this is the place for it. Plenty of worthwhile attention here."
Jie Shan chuckled to himself, a deep, throaty laugh. "So," he said, "What brings you out here? I won't beat around the bush. You're pretty strong by Earth standards and, by my guess, at least partially an alien."
He hadn't expected surprise to be evident on the man's face. After all Amarath was still unable to suppress his own ki and by extension his power level. Clearly the man could sense his power now, maybe the beach had lulled his focus for the time being. Not that it really mattered. It wasn't like Amarath had come with the intention of fighting or was being hostile, and he preferred to go unnoticed anyways. Amarath briefly looks around when the man comments on how he likes to be noticed. Admittedly the earthlings on this beach were attractive, but it also seemed more of them were making note of the two aliens by the water, some were outright staring at them. The staring annoyed him sometimes but at the moment he simply ignored it. Amarath drapes his jacket over his shoulder, and without looking at him, speaks.
"I prefer when the locals don't look me up and down so much. But to answer your question I'm a Saiyan, though I was born and raised on Earth I'm a full blood Saiyan." he takes a good hard look at the man again and says "And from what I see there's a part of you that's Saiyan too, but what about the rest of you?"
"And as for what I'm doing here..." Amarath very much appreciated someone else who wanted to get straight to the point, but at the same time he wonders just how much to tell this man. He settles on the simplest, least revealing version of the truth. "Well for the first time in my life... I am on my own, and have nowhere to go, so I came here, like I used to when I lived around here years ago. If you mean why come to you, you seem powerful, I need to get way more powerful than I am right now."

The man draped himself with a jacket, and Jie Shan gave him a questioning look. Now just what was the point of that? They were at the beach, for crying out loud! The boy said he did not like the locals looking at him; quite the opposite of Jie Shan. Were he not caught up in this conversation now, perhaps he'd already be... engaging with the local Earthlings. Still, Jie Shan shrugged. The young man had his own reasons, odd as they were.
By now, Jie Shan was much more interested in what else the boy had to say: he was a Saiyan, raised on Earth. Jie Shan raised two silvery eyebrows, the only sign of interest on his face. What was up with all these Saiyans on Earth? Ever since he'd come to Earth, he'd run into more Saiyans than ever. An exaggeration, of course, given how he had previously lived on an entire planet of Saiyans, but still: it was odd. He'd come to Earth to get away from Saiyan bullshit.
"A Saiyan born on Earth, huh?" He muttered, "Well, probably better off than a Saiyan born on Natto or Vegeta right about now..."
The boy questioned Jie Shan's own heritage, correctly identifying Jie Shan as a halfblood. Jie Shan shrugged. "Part Saiyan, yes," he confirmed, "The other half is Elemi, if you've heard of them. You could be forgiven if you haven't. They're not exactly in the best way right now."
The boy went on about his being at the beach. Alone, he said, all alone and for the first time in his life. The young hybrid could not help but feel a slight pang of sympathy for the boy; he knew what it was like to be alone. Not always an unfortunate condition, mused Jie Shan, but not one for everybody.
But what really caught Jie Shan's ear, however, was the mention of the boy seeking him out because of Jie Shan's strength and his own desire to get stronger. Now he certainly had Jie Shan's attention. Slowly, Jie Shan took the sunglasses from his face and gave the boy a steely look.
"I see," said Jie Shan, "And you think I can help you with that? Well, it just so happens I might be able to do that. I am in the business of training people, funnily enough. But I have to ask: why do you want to get stronger? Do you want strength for the sake of being strong, or do you have some other purpose?"
The comment about the Saiyans wasn't entirely missed on Amarath. While away he'd received no word from the information he had was vague and years old it seemed that his race was still doing what they do best. He didn't much care who was winning, but he did wonder if either side would ever actually surrender.
Anarath had almost certainly never heard of the Elemi, and by the sound of it apparently he wasn't the only one. He decided he would ask about the Elemi later, for now he simply said "Admittedly I can't say I have ever heard of them."
When he finishes speaking the man looks at him for the first time without his sunglasses. Looks like something he said interested him. He was about to speak again when the man beats him to it. The offer immediately pushed just about every other thought from his mind and for the first time Amarath looks him in the eye. He knows he not kidding, there's a hard, determined look in the man's eye.
Amarath remains silent for a moment when he's asked about his motivations. Finally as he motions to the earthlings in the sand he speaks. "There's a lot for me to do, but them for one. I love to fight, but those who can't shouldn't be dragged into it. If I can protect this place I should, it's my home after all. Beyond that, there's some personal business I need to take care of."
