Demalia was in her portable workshop, typing away on a laptop on her desk. Occasionally she moved her mouth and clicked on a couple of things. On the screen was the display of what appeared to be some kind of mechanical suit. There were diagrams and displays with lines of text all around them. It varied from simple captions to complex equations. Demalia clicked on one of the mechanical suit’s arms, and the screen shifted to a close up diagram of that arm. Demalia adjusted her glasses, leaning forward in her chair while grabbing her chin. Hmmm…. I think I can fuse this with my body with the method I came up with. I am glad that I decided to focus on the limbs first. There’s still risk involved, but it’s slightly less complicated than trying the procedure on vital areas in the body. The worst case scenario here is that I’ll lose an arm or leg. Nothing that a trip to the hospital can’t fix. First things first though. I’ve got to find a way to make the enhancements compatible with mechanization.
Demalia pressed a key on her keypad, shifting things to a split screen. One half of the screen had the mechanical arm, while the other half displayed a diagram of what appeared to be her own body. Demalia shifted in her seat, lifting her lower body and tucking her legs underneath herself. Sitting on her legs was a habit she did when she was really concentrating on something. She worked away tirelessly, her ship looming behind her about 50 feet away. Demalia’s lab, workshop, and hangar were one and the same. It was usually contained in a capsule that the hybrid carried around with her. Demalia was doing all she could to prepare herself for the journey she would soon take. Of course she wouldn’t be able to finish this project by the time she left, but she had to start somewhere. Besides, she was confident that she could handle herself if things went south. Demalia was so focused on her work, that she was completely oblivious to everything around her.
Unlike Fuwa, his predecessor, Onato was a careful God. He liked to take a close look on those he was interested, be it in a good way or in a bad away. Rutaba, the saiyan was one example of a person he had in a good light, while Demalia, the half-demon, was person he saw in a bad light mostly because of her demon heritage, but also because of her interest in modifying herself. The Grand Kaioshin feared the demons would rise in power again, even those who were Halflings, so it was about time he would pay her a visit. With a serious expression on his face, he releases his power from his Crystal Ball and put both his hands behind his back, sighing deeply. ”Kai Kai.” he pronounced.
Then, in an instant, he vanished from the Sacred World of the Kais and reappeared on Planet Plant. To be precise, he appeared inside a hangar where a Tuffle ship called The Triad was, right in front of the Halfling demon girl he was taking a close look on. He didn’t try to be sneaky this time; seemed like these mortals were commonly finding a way to detect his energy source, so he thought maybe he should work on remembering how to suppress it, but it would be very troublesome for now, so he would let it go for the time being. Once he appeared in front of her, he cracked a smirk with his mouth only, as his dark, almond-shaped eyes remained quite serious.
”Quite the specimen you are. But, nonetheless, you still seek to improve yourself. I demand to know why.” his words were cold, but they had enough of a bossy tone in it.
“KYYYAAA!” Demalia let out a cry as Onato appeared in front of her, toppling over backwards and tipping over her chair. She and the chair fell to the ground, Demalia letting out a low groan while on her back. She sprung back to her feet though, putting away her glasses and slipping on her scouter so that she could get a read on him. She was looking at Onato wearily.
“I’m the one who should be asking the questions here! Who are you?! How did you get past my security without tripping the alarm?! What are you?! How do you know I’ve been training to get stronger?! Have you been hacking into my equipment?! This is part of why I’m trying to improve myself: the last time I encountered a different life form, they killed my parents and I almost died!”
Demalia turned on the scouter, pressing it a couple of times. The scouter registered him at 61,000. At full power she would be stronger than him, even if she didn’t really know that many fighting techniques. Although there was a chance that he could be hiding his full power too. If that was the case, then there really wasn’t much she could do.
Onato felt some satisfaction when he scared the hybrid demoness there, it was a little victory, even though he didn’t show any trace of it in his cold and mysterious dark eyes. Still, she refused to answer his questions, openly defying a God and that was something that required punishment, especially because her race already made her half-guilty of any offence, even if driven by sheer ignorance of who was standing in front of her. She dared ask questions to him and, if it was any other person, he would be far kinder and understanding, but this was not the case and when she said those words the smile on Onato’s face vanished completely and he moved far too quickly, slapping her face with the back of his hand. If her perception was high enough, she would notice a sudden and absurdly quick spike in his power, but it was way too fast to pinpoint just how much.
The slap wasn’t enough to break her, but it would hurt and probably throw her to the ground. ”You will be silent and obey! Who do you think I am, girl?!” and his tone was very harsh now. ”You demons… Always defying the gods. I will not tolerate any further disobedience or insubordination, girl. You will tell me now why do you seek power and I will judge whether I’m willing to allow this or not.” he said with a cold expression on his face.
Onato was holding his inner anger and hatred; he hated demons with all his heart and it was the war against that race what led to the near total extinction of the Kaioshins of Universe 6, and he wasn’t going to allow that to occur ever again. This girl may be innocent on her own, but to the Grand Kaioshin, the sins of her blood were too much to be so easily forgiven.
Suddenly spiked his power to 610,000. Slap PL 30,500 (this much for speed, but only about 10k for power)
The slap had happened so fast that Demalia didn’t have any time to fully register it as it hit. Slammed back onto the ground again, letting out a pained gasp as her back slammed against the ground. Demalia was unable to sense energy, but her scouter was able to pick up just how much stronger this being had gotten. As she suspected, He was much stronger then he had initially let on. Nearly 6 times her own maximum power level. Which was absolutely ridiculous. Demalia had never heard of anyone being this strong before. No wonder this guy is calling himself a God. I doubt there's anyone who could take him on in a one on one fight. Damn it! Why are these kind of people so strong?!
Demalia touched her check, which still stung from the blow he had delivered her. It wasn't enough to put her out of commission, but it was still a fairly strong blow. If he wanted to, this guy could throw out something much stronger. And he seemed on the verge of doing just that, giving his current attitude. Demalia shakily climbed to her feet, turning and looking at the Kaioshin fearfully. She wasn't going to try and hide how scared she was. Someone outrageously strong had nothing but contempt for her. She shakily responded to this individuals questions.
"My... my parents were killed by two Ocyrians. They were contracted by someone called the Illusive man. I don't know how strong this individual is, so I'm training for the day that I have to confront them. They.... they need to be brought to justice, and I don't want anyone getting hurt trying to take him on. If you don't believe me, then believe the letter I managed to acquire from the Ocyrians. It's on the table, r---right there!"
Demalia pointed at a piece of paper right next to the keyboard, her arm shaking considerably. In any other situation she would have had so many questions for this individual. He seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge. She wasn't going to risk pissing off someone this strong further though. No, she would comply and give his individual whatever he wanted to know. Then maybe she would get out of this alive.

Demalia doesn't dodge Onato slap. She takes 10,000 in damage.
The girl was scared and that was good. Gods are supposed to be feared and respected and he would rather have it this way, especially from a hybrid demoness like Demalia. But the girl was smart and decided to be collaborative and Onato remained serious, listening to what she had to say, with a judgmental and harsh look on his dark eyes. Ocyrians were a problem indeed, they were like universe seven saiyans, and Onato didn’t quite like them or their ways, but they weren’t very problematic for the time being, so he could afford to let it slide.
”Solon had it coming for him, what did you expect? Demons have no place in this dimension and should remain in Makai, where they belong for all their crimes against creation and the gods. Appa was foolish to mix herself with the likes of your father, and thus, you are a spawn of a demon, a scourge of creation.” he paused for a second, as his eyes grew colder. ”Tainted… By the blood and sacrifice of your own deities. I care not for your revenge, but if you think I’m willing to allow a demon spawn to grow strong, you are wrong. You want revenge… This is enough to tell me your heart, as a demon, is filled with evil.” with those words, Onato released his true power, but didn’t flare any aura; it was like his power was just restrained within his body.
[True Power: 610,000]
”Now, what do you want to do, girl? Do you know who I am? Are you thinking right now that I have to right to judge you?” he asked her.
“I don’t want revenge, alright?! The Illusive Man put a hit out on two people he didn’t even know. He’s not going to stop with just my parents! God…. or maybe you know how many people he’ll end up hurting if left unchecked! All I want is justice, alright? If I wanted revenge, I would have killed the Ocyrians who murdered my parents when I had the chance. You can ask either of them: I had Aurora and Qui completely at my mercy and I spared their lives. If you don’t believe me or them, then a Kold named Taion can vouch for me too. She was present at the scene after my parents died. I simply want this person to pay their dues, that’s all. I don’t intend on killing him.”
Demalia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down to the best of her abilities. It wasn’t going to work fully while this person was here. He insulted both of her parents for just being a demon and associating with one respectively. Acting emotional now would only make things worse for her. Instead she did her best to answer this being’s question. Demalia looked down, running her hands through her hair before rubbing her forehead with her palms.
“I… I honestly don’t know if you have the right to judge me. No one alive would know that for sure until they died. If you truly are a God, then you’ll be waiting for them in the afterlife. I don’t know anything about you. I don’t even know anything about my demonic heritage, other than what my father told me. He said that the Demons once had a world of their own, but lost a war and were scattered across the universe. It happened so long ago that most of the details were lost to time.”
Demalia took another deep breath, looking up and staring Onato in the eyes. She could not afford to falter now. One mistake and she could end up paying dearly for it.
“Like I stated previously, I plan on obtaining power for the purposes of self defense and making sure the Illusive Man pays his dues. I plan on living my life out how I originally planned to otherwise. I intend on making advancements in technology for the good of everyone, contribute to society, and be a good citizen. Then one day I will die, and end up wherever I’ll end up in the end. That’s all, I swear.”
Demalia touched the place where Onato struck her, wincing as she felt a stinging pain from where he hit her. Despite keeping her composure fairly well, there were still traces distress in her tone of voice. Her eyes were watering at the corners. She was visibly hurt, in more ways then one by this individual. There were many things she didn’t know right now. Although right now all she wanted to know as whether she would make this out alive or not. Unfortunately it was a perfectly reasonable question given her current predicament.
There she went again, on this Illusive Man. Onato already had tabs on him and was watching him carefully, but he wouldn’t share this piece of information with this demon girl. She claimed to want justice, but how could her demon heart want that? How could it even know what justice was, when their very existence was an offense to justice and righteousness? Onato didn’t know nor trust her words yet and it was only further irritating the God of Creation. But she was speaking the truth about sparing the murderers of her parents, and that bugged him to no end when he watched her from his crystal ball. What was she plotting? Could she be playing them for a greater scheme? But then it struck him when she said Taion could vouch for her.
Onato seemed confused for a short moment, but then he realized she was the one being played by the Illusive Man and that made his mysterious expression to return to his face. ”I get it now. She is a foolish girl.” he thought to himself and that sudden realization was very disappointing; truth be told he was actually enjoying the thought of erasing a demoness after so many years. The anger was still very much alive inside of him. However, before he could think more she answered his question, saying she wasn’t sure he could judge her and that made him scoff. ”Girl. I’m the one judging the judge of the dead. I can judge any of you mortals. And yes, your father was right, the demons lost a war. I made sure they would lose because I fought on that war and I erased as many demons as I could, as it is my duty as the Supreme God of this Universe.” his tone was cold, be it seemed honest enough.
He noticed the distress in her tone and that was reassuring as it meant that she was probably speaking the truth about her intentions. Onato sighed deeply and then he spoke again. ”Well… At least you managed to convince me you are not vile, just stupid. And as far as I know, stupidity is not such a serious crime. On top of that, I feel your work can actually come into benefit of this world and this is something I can look with good eyes.” he said, pausing briefly. ”I’m watching you, demon girl, but for now you managed to save your soul.” he added.
It looked as though Demalia had been spared for the time being. The Tuffle Demon hybrid couldn’t relax yet though. She was still in the room with someone who clearly hated her. She ignored the insults for now, and she filed away the information she learned for later. Right now, there was only one thing she wanted to know.
“Um.... God.... sir.... Did you originally come here to kill me and judge me in the afterlife. I don’t mean to sound accusatory, but you did say that my soul was saved for the time being. I’m having a hard time interpreting that as anything else.”
Demalia looked at Onato as calmly as she could manage. There was still a trace of fear in her eyes though. And who could blame her? Onato had given her every reason to be afraid. Although her fear didn't eclipse her curiosity. Besides, she had to know whether or not her life was in serious danger.
Onato chuckled a bit with her question and mused about it for a second: Did she really think he would come here already ready to kill her without talking to her first? What did she think he was? It was interesting how the mind of mortals worked and he couldn’t help but to feel intrigued about them; their brief lives were so intense, in a way no Kai could ever fully understand, no matter how much godly knowledge they had and that was precisely the reason they couldn’t just go on a rampage, destroying everything they initially thought could be troublesome.
”I came here to judge you, not to kill you. I’m a God of Creation, foolish child, not one of Destruction, but worry not, the later exists too.” he said, pausing briefly. ”But you are a demon, one way or the other, you are part of a condemned race who dared to work against the gods and that I cannot overlook. So… I’ve got my eyes on you. Mislead your path, and you will surely face punishment. I’m harsher on you than on others because your blood carries sins that are unforgivable.” he said, trying to explain as clear as possible what was his position on that matter.
“In other words, you came here to see what kind of person I was. Although it seems like you had already made up your mind about me before you even got here. It isn’t my place to question your methods, but it seems like your judgement would be fairer if you actually got to know the person first.”
Demalia reached a trembling hand into her capsule pouch, her grip slipping on the capsule. It fell to the ground with a clatter, and started to roll away. Demalia quickly bend down and picked it up though, activating it and bringing out an ice pack from it. She turned to watch Onato wearily again as she pressed it against her cheek. Even as the cold began to numb the stinging sensation, she still kept her guard up around him. Not that she was able to do too much even if she did. She too frightened to turn her back to him, but her curiosity was currently holding her fear at bay. Not to mention that his chuckling didn’t exactly help her feel at ease. She had many different questions regarding the things he just said, but she ran the risk of trying his patience if she asked too many. Thus she addressed the most important thing first.
“I am a Tuffle. I was born and raised on Planet Plant. If having demon blood running through my veins alone condemns me, and if it will have a significant impact on your judgement of me, then I think it’s only fair that I know why. Those who are judged deserve to know what they’re on trial for.”
From what Demalia gathered, the Demons must have fought a war against these so called Gods. Although they had to have done more than that. Demalia knew that war was horrible and bitter, and people could do truly monstrous things in them. Although that alone wouldn’t justify treating dependents of one particular side badly because of it. What had the Demon race done to make God hate her so?
