In the world of his own mind and heart, Galen stood alone in the pitch black darkness of his loss of consciousness. The floor beneath him seemed like it was made of some dark water, not deeper than a couple inches, but enough to make him feel quite bitter. He was kneeling there, feeling like the world didn’t exist anymore. Oddly enough it was almost as if he had been there before but he couldn’t remember, just like it had happened in another life, another universe or another timeline. It was ultimately confusing, but even though this was supposed to be only the second time he had lost a spar against Jie Shan, it felt like it was more than that and it irritated him. ”Is this my limit? Is this the farthest I can go as a human?” he asked nobody but himself. Galen was half expecting to hear no answer, but surprisingly the opposite happened: he heard an answer.
”Weakling fool! You really want to stand there on your knees, feeling sorry for yourself?!” the voice seemed to come from everywhere, but at the same time it seemed like it was coming stray from his heart. Galen was shocked by the sound of that voice, that was so familiar and yet so different from his own. ”W-what?! Who are you?!” he asked, looking around himself but seeing nothing. ”That’s a stupid question, in which the answer won’t help you with anything! Now, you have a choice. You can either stand there, feeling sorry for yourself and wake up maybe a day from here, in a bad with your friends thinking you are their nice buddy but completely unreliable in a serious situation, or you can choose to stop holding your rage!” the voice said and Galen gulped, getting back to his feet, still feeling quite uncertain of himself. ”I… I don’t know if I… I mean… I don’t know if I can…” he started, but the voice interrupted once again. ”There you go! Whining again, giving excuses again! You are not going to accomplish anything if you keep your feelings shelled inside your heart! Let it go! Let it burn! You know you want this! You know you envy them, and you know you feel angry with your lack of power!” and the truth in those words made him close his eyes shut and clench both his fists.
”Dammit! How can I be a protector being this weak?! Will I be forever on the sidelines?! No! I can’t stand it! I’m a human and I’m not useless!! I don’t care how much potential the saiyans have, I won’t be left behind!” he said, feeling his heart burning with passion and rage. ”Yes! Embrace it! Feel it!” the voice said before fading away completely. ”I… I feel it! Now… Now I’m…”.
Back at the real world, Jie Shan was close to Galen when he opened his eyes suddenly and abruptly. His body began to change once again, becoming even pinker to the point even his clothes were changing in color. A burning aura flared around his body in a scandalous fuchsia color and he jumped back to his feet like a spring. ”AAAAHHHHHH!!!” Galen screamed as his feet touched the ground once again. His power was growing so much that gusts of wind were coming from it very intensely. Galen’s hair became so spiked that his bandana was vaporized by the sheer energy of his ki, giving him a kind of super saiyan look despite being completely fuchsia in color. ”Now I’m REALLY MAD!!!” and upon shouting it, an explosion of energy took place around himself and, once the smoke cleared, there he was, the fuchsia warrior.
[Unlocking Super High Tension. PL: 3,393,980]
Galen’s power skyrocketed like never before and, even though he wasn’t as strong as Jie Shan, he was dangerously close. His wounds seemed to have been healed to some extent and he seemed to be fully recovered regarding his stamina; he was ready to fight again, this time more intensely than ever!

Jie Shan was blissfully unaware of the turmoil churning in Galen's inner mind and more concerned that he had fried his friend's body and cooked his friend's mind into a kind of bland jelly through the raw power of his lightning. A deep concern for the well being of his friend was starting to grow in the pit of Jie Shan's chest as the Earthling swordsman remained unresponsive and laid on the cold flagstones of Jie Shan's courtyard. The cold morning rays of sunlight bounced off the crimson-like aura of the boy's body and the air had become oddly still around them, the cold settling into Jie Shan's bones despite the burning, golden aura of power around him. Shit, thought Jie Shan, perhaps he really had overdone it. If he had hurt Galen like that, the young hybrid would be at an utter loss as to what to do with himself, and would never be able to forgive himself for what he had done. As Galen continued to lay limp on the ground, Jie Shan began to rise to his feet and mutter to himself. He ought to call Rudieri; she was not a true medical doctor, but she knew enough. Maybe she could do something for the Earthling, before any permanent damage set in.
But there would be no need to do that. Before Jie Shan could even really move, Galen's eyes shot up and a change began to take place before Jie Shan's very eyes. His friend's body turned an even more outlandish shade of color, turning what Jie Shan could only describe as a violent shade of fuchsia. In a fury, Galen leaped to his feet as Jie Shan felt the man's power increase rapidly and he watched the change from an outsider's perspective. Galen was now exerting such pressure, shock waves and peals of wind came pouring from where the swordsman stood. The man's hair stood on end and his aura seemed. . . fiercer, like his mind had been made to be berserk. An unsettling feeling of familiarity came over Jie Shan: where had he seen this before? This aura, this physical state, everything about this screamed recognition to Jie Shan.
And then it struck him over the head, like a hammer: this was like a Super Saiyan transformation. Everything about it was so similar to the legendary transformation of the Saiyans, that when applied to a human it produced the strangest sensation of walking through the uncanny valley. But here was Galen, with a similar transformation. Hell, thought Jie Shan, maybe he had been right when he thought Galen might have had some drops of Saiyan blood in him, or maybe even just any alien heritage at all. This was not like any other human phenomenon that Jie Shan knew about. The sheer force of power and Galen's rage even managed to generate a smokey explosion. Jie Shan would definitely have to get the courtyard repaired after this, but at the moment, that was the furthest thought from Jie Shan's mind.
"G-galen," said Jie Shan, "You're okay! And, by the looks of it, stronger than ever!"
What the hell was going on? Just when Jie Shan thought that Galen had been put down for the count, the Earthling was up and back at it, ready to fight! Was this like the Saiyan ability to grow stronger after crushing defeats? No matter the source of the newfound strength, one thing was certain: that the fight was back on. Galen was standing tall and on his own two feet, ready to rumble. And now, he was incredibly close to Jie Shan in terms of power.
Jie Shan shifted back into a fighting pose. "Alright, Galen," he growled, "Looks like the fight is back on. But take it easy, you dig? You took a lot of damage and just because you've hit a new level of power doesn't mean your body is back to perfect condition. There might be unseen effects still. Now, that aside-"
With that, Jie Shan threw himself at Galen, aiming at the man's chest with a high jab. With the man's newfound power, he would likely have little trouble blocking it, but Jie Shan had to take the time to feel out his opponent's new strength.

Galen’s rage was taking over his mind and the only thing he could clearly think right now was to crush his opponent. The sensation was completely overwhelming and the more he releases his ki, the eager he got to fight. Jie Shan’s words fell to deaf ears and as he approached to try and punch the human on the chest with a high jab, Galen reacted quickly and dashed to Jie’s left flank, completely avoiding the attack. He didn’t have his sword on his hand right now which, in the past, would be really troublesome, but now that he had been training under the Turtle Hermit, that was no longer an issue as Galen could also fight properly without a blade on his hand.
His clenched right fist glowed in a yellow hue, that mixed with the fuchsia color of his body and ki and then he took a step forward and aimed to throw the powerful energy punch right to Jie’s face. ”SUPER GOD FIST!!” that wasn’t your everyday punch, though, it was one of the dangerous and secret techniques of the Turtle Style. Jie Shan could possibly notice the shift in fighting style, showing that Galen was now versed not only in the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School, but also another school; if he knew the turtle school or not, Galen didn’t know, but it was clearly an efficient fighting style.
The human was going all out and he was so angry that he was gritting his teeth and growling as he moved. His eyes were like the eyes of a savage beast ready to take down its pray and even though he wasn’t properly thinking, he was showing a remarkable fighting instinct, and that much would definitely be clear to a saiyan like Jie Shan.

The battle was back on, despite what had just unfolded. The lull in combat had only lasted a moment, a fleeting haze of peace. Now, the two warriors were going right back at it, like nothing had happened, despite Galen's lack of sword. Still, Jie Shan would not give the man an opportunity to pick up his blade so easily; in a real fight, a warrior had to stay on their toes and foes would not normally give one a chance to retrieve their weapons. Despite the friendly nature of the bout, this was still combat practice for all intents and purposes, and Jie Shan was going to treat it like a real fight up until the very end.
And it seemed Galen was going to do the same. The human broke left as Jie Shan moved in for the jab, quickly dashing out of harm's way. It seemed as if the man really was going all out and the swordsman's body was dealing well, despite the shock. Usually, thought Jie Shan, muscles were not afforded such fluidity after experiencing such a powerful amount of electricity, and the Lightning Blade contained enough raw power into to split planets asunder, let alone kill most foes.
Galen mounted a counter attack, screaming the name of a technique and spinning onto Jie Shan. A fist came speeding towards Jie Shan's face, like a fleshy arrow, coated in dangerous energy. Jie Shan blinked; the fist crashed into his face and the momentum set Jie Shan flying backwards. His feet scraped across the ground, chunks of stone flying in either direction as he brought himself to a stop. Slowly, Jie Shan sheathed his sword; if Galen were not going to use a blade, neither was Jie Shan.
"So," growled Jie Shan, "You're competent in weaponless combat too. Luckily, I'm also a master of that!"
Now Galen was really fighting like a Saiyan: fierce, brutal, and visceral combat moves with an emphasis on the body. Jie Shan knew it well; he had seen thousands of similar fighting styles in his time. Swords and other weapons were not the preferred equipment for Saiyans, so ferocity of the fist was commonplace. Now, thought Jie Shan, it was time for them to fight like Saiyans! Jie Shan held himself differently now, slipping into the stance of the Soy School.
Jie Shan crouched low and a blue aura surrounded him. As his power reached its zenith, Jie Shan threw himself at Galen, the blue aura acting as a pseudo shield and battering ram!
"Rebellion Spear!" Cried Jie Shan as he flew at his friend.
The sensation of his fists touching Jie Shan’s face with the power of the Super God Fist was amazing and was fueling Galen’s soul and fury. The human didn’t smile in satisfaction, but instead growled louder and louder. ”AAAAHHHHHH!!” as he pushed his fist to send Jie Shan flying away, sailing through the air for a few moments before landing back on the ground. Right at this moment the human’s eyes stared at his sword, which was some feet away and he carved for it, the sensation of having it on his hands, but he knew deep inside it would not be possible right now; his opponent would never allow it and so he decided to keep his focus onto Jie Shan and that was ultimately the right call to make.
Jie Shan revealed he was also well-versed in unarmed combat. ”GRRRR!!!! I WON’T BE DEFEATED!!” and that was all Galen could throw back as an answer. His normal gentle self was dormant within the blazes of fury of his heart and there was no way he would wake up now. On top of that, the years of frustration for being left behind by his friends and allies in terms of power, first Chris, then Gouken, Jie Shan too. All of them were so much more powerful than Galen that he couldn’t help but to feel that maybe he was useless in combat and should rest on the sidelines forever. ”Not ANYMORE!”] his blazing soul shouted within his core and this feeling of overcoming this milestone, of improving, of catching up was driving him to push himself way beyond what his own humanity allowed; his body managed to copy some things about the super saiyan form – on its own way – and push his ki energy far beyond his normal capabilities, and now he wasn’t going to back down while he still had fuel to burn.
His eyes narrowed intensely as he noticed the golden aura giving its place to a blue-colored aura that reminded him of his barriers techniques, but much more menacing, almost like it had a chain of a chainsaw on the outline of it. ”Dangerous!” his simpler battle-focused mind alerted him and he got into the traditional Turtle School stance; it was a bit flawed still, as he had yet to fully master the style, but it was clear he was an advanced student of these arts.
The hybrid saiyan dashed forward with his powerful attack and Galen got ready to withstand it the best he could. Both his hands were thrown forward and he aimed to put a stop onto Jie Shan’s charge with his pure force. ”AS IF I WOULD LET YOU DEFEAT ME!” he roared as he expanded his fuchsia ki aura, further empowering his body. Less than a second later they crashed and Jie Shan’s aura was held by Galen’s bare hands as he tried to block it in vain. ”KYYYYAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!” but no matter how much force he put onto it, no matter how much will power he invested, there was just no way he could stop the rebellion spear on his own and, noticing that, he twisted his body to the side and was hit by whatever remained of the initial force Jie Shan had.
The human was hit hard by it, but gladly he was throw in the direction of his sword, thanks to the last minute twist of his body, positioning himself in a way that he would be thrown towards his blade. Galen plummeted to the ground, but as he recovered, his right hand managed to reach the hilt of the broad sword. Galen was breathing heavily, but he still had some fight into his core and his eyes showed that giving up was no option at all.

Galen screamed about him refusing to let Jie Shan beat him. Sadly for Galen, it was not a matter of "letting" Jie Shan do anything. In the storm of battle, it was rarely about permission. And while Galen might have been newly minted a super powered warrior on par with the likes of Super Saiyans and even come back from planet destroying blows, there was still a large gap of power between the two of them; one that could not be surmounted by a moment of rage and newfound power, as much as it pained Jie Shan to think that about his friend.
That was made all the more painfully obvious with the ensuing struggle. To the human's credit, he did make an attempt. Galen burned bright with a powerful aura as he attempted to struggle against Jie Shan's Rebellion Spear, a technique he had mastered long ago and felt almost dirty using it now. But the sheer sea of difference was too wide for Galen to clear, and the human failed in his struggle. Jie Shan crashed into Galen, the brunt of his power slamming into Galen like a runaway truck going down a steep hill. The fist sent Galen flying away from Jie Shan, and the Super Saiyan grimaced for his friend. Even with the man's new, awesome power, he was still fighting a losing battle; the Lightning Blade would have killed him if Jie Shan had intended it to do so. And despite his awakening to inner potential, Galen could not keep this up forever.
But the Earthling was clever. As Galen flew through the air and tumbled away from Jie Shan on account of the blow, it became obvious that Galen was not going to take such wounds laying down. The man maneuvered in air and towards the direction of his sword and was even able to grab it as he smacked against the ground.
"You're pretty good, Galen," said Jie Shan, his own breathing labored, "Honestly, really impressive. But if you think for a second that you can defeat me like this, I'm going to prove you wrong!"
In one swift motion, Jie Shan began to run forward and draw his blade. He quickly closed the distance between the Earthling swordsman and himself, his teal eyes narrowed in on the swordsman as Saiyan blood began to come alive within his veins. He hefted his blade, and aimed a mighty swing of the flat side at Galen's sword arm.

Determination alone can only push you so far, and this limit was soon to be reached as Galen could notice, deep inside his core. Still, his burning rage kept on pushing him forward and forward and there was just no way he was going to give up until he could no longer fight. That was the power of his resolution.
And now that he had his broad sword back on his hand, he could feel his confidence rising even more; this blade had accompanied him ever since he was still a warrior protecting his home village from the thieves. It was a living memento of his parents, friends and loved ones and a constant reminder that he could never fail again like he had failed with Goddodin. The sword and his sister, Esther, were all that were left from that life and those memories empowered him and allowed Galen to grow this far. ”And there’s no way I will lose!” he kept on motivating himself as his fuchsia eyes locked onto his current opponent, the mighty super saiyan Jie Shan Lan Dian.
”I don’t care if you are a super saiyan, or if you are one thousand times stronger than me! I will not yield! I’ve been sitting on the sidelines for too long now! I will show you I’m a true protector of this world! This is the power of my resolve!!” he roared as he adjusted himself onto the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School stance, ready to face Jie Shan with all he had.
The saiyan charged at him, sword in hand, ready to attack and Galen was, oddly enough, capable of following his each and every move. The hybrid was faster, yes, but not by a lot and he could definitely react to his attack, but the question was: should he? Galen was aware he couldn’t take much more damage now otherwise he would fall, but at the same time he knew that if he was to dodge and attack, then Jie Shan would likely have the same opportunity and that would mean Galen would be defeated for sure.
With a sharp exhale, he made up his mind. Jie Shan’s attack hit Galen, who stood there, ready to tank the attack with his body, as he moved his arm away from the sword, allowing it to reach his torso. The impact of the blade to his flank, the edge piercing right through his aura, clothes, skin and muscle were rough and hurt like crazy. ”ARGH!” he screamed in pain, but, with all of his resolve, he released his left hand from his sword, allowing it to fall back to the ground while he tried to grab Jie’s sword hand in a tight grip, to keep him there. At the same time, his right hand was pointed at Jie’s face, bringing together with it a large red-colored energy sphere.
”It ends now! RAGING FLASH!” Galen roared as he aimed to fire his attack at pointblank and he would likely take some damage from it too, should he hit Jie Shan.

The Earthling man screamed once more in defiance as he shifted his fighting pose yet again. Galen was no novice when it came to fighting, Jie Shan had to give him that much. In fact, it was purely fascinating to Jie Shan how alike the two actually were, at least in terms of raw ability and skill set. Why, if the gap between was a little bit smaller in terms of power, the human man might even be able to push the Super Saiyan or force Jie Shan to sweat a little bit. Now that, thought Jie Shan, was a scary thought. Had he really been slacking that much so that the two were growing that close in power? Saiyan and Earthling. . . They were almost of a kind! Even now, as the Earthling screamed his denial of Jie Shan's golden power, the hybrid could not help but feel the dampened tinge of disappointment pooling at the now paper thin edges of his soul. Jie Shan was not speciest, but. . . to think that the Earthling would have caught up to him so easily. Jie Shan knew this, but now it became clear: he really would have to kick his own training into high gear, lest he fall even further behind.
As Jie Shan's blade made contact with Galen's hard body, the man went for a grab, managing to pin down one of Jie Shan's arms. Damn, thought Jie Shan, as he suddenly felt ki rising. Luckily, Galen had only gone for his sword arm. In a flurry, he wrestled one hand away from the grip and slammed it into Galen's palm. Opening his own spirit, the attack flew within Jie Shan. In a huff, Jie Shan dropped his blade and held his other hand open wide and attempted to press his palm against Galen.
The hostile energy coursed through him like a river, but it did not harm him; no, it was being bent to Jie Shan's will. The energy twisted and turned about in Jie Shan, like a snake made of fire, like a wild wolf of lightning. But Jie Shan forced it to do as he wanted. The energy changed its course and flew out Jie Shan's other palm and towards the side of Galen.
Jie Shan had turned Galen's own attack against him.
"You haven't seen all my tricks, Galen!" Roared Jie Shan as the energy between them exploded. And Jie Shan knew well enough he was going to get some damage from the blast as well. Regardless of how Galen dealt with the blast, Jie Shan could feel his own knees buckle as he struggled against the force and shockwave of the explosion. Stamina: 0/5
Used [PT-3] Ride the Lighting: In an unthordox display of defense, the user, through their mastery of ki, takes in an opponents attack and redirects it towards them, voiding any potential damage done to the user while sending it back at the attacker. It was working! Galen got Jie Shan in a tight spot and now he was about to fall victim of the Raging Flash, thus giving Galen the victory of this spar. He could almost taste it, he was getting it, he had overcame all the obstacles and was thriving against a strong saiyan warrior. ”The power of humanity! I will show it to you, Jie Shan!” he thought to himself, gritting his teeth really hard. But then something very weird happened: Jie Shan was somehow absorbing the power with one of his hands. ”W-what?! But how?!” this technique was unlike anything Galen had ever seen on his whole life.
Seemed like Jie Shan still had some tricks up his sleeves and Galen wasn’t prepared for that in the slightest. As his palm approached and the energy flowed right through his body, he could connect the dots and realize what was about to happen. Galen narrowed his eyes and grimaced for a second before Jie Shan released all of Galen’s power against the human, creating a huge explosion in between them. Galen’s body was thrown away, not stopping until it hit a wall, cracking it fiercely. Then he plummeted to the ground in a thud, almost like a ragged doll.
Galen’s fuchsia aura vanished and with that his body return to his base form as he was now completely unconscious. He had sustained enough and handling his Super High Tension form was way too much. Luckily he had brought some senzu beans with him and Jie Shan could probably get him back to his feet in a matter of a second should he feed him the bean. In any case, he was defeated. The power of his resolve was enough to allow him to fight on more equal grounds, but Jie’s power and experience still exceeded that of Galen and the result was another defeat for the human. However, he was proud with himself, for having surpassed his own limits in a way he didn’t even dream it was possible.

An explosion.
The resulting force raged between the two of them, each of the two fighters taking a fair share of the blow. But Galen got the worst of it, since Jie Shan had redirected the attack, the human had been on the newly determined receiving end. However, even Jie Shan had not come away from the explosion unscatched. As the explosion and the resulting smokey aftermath consumed them, Jie Shan was thrown backwards and through the air. Jie Shan ragdolled as he was sent sprawling through the air of his own courtyard, being thrown about like a doll. In a second, Jie Shan fell to the ground on his ass and was left limp on the ground, laying on his back.
The world seemed to spin above him as he stared at the blue-gray sky. The golden power left Jie Shan in a flash as the battle came to an end and he was left not-so super. A sigh escaped his lips as the clouds filled his eyes. That battle had been fun, but sloppy. Very sloppy, indeed. Galen was strong, the strongest Earthling Jie Shan had ever met, but that was of very little reconciliation to the young hybrid. Despite the difference between them, Galen had been able to close it and even push Jie Shan. A deft hand went to his side, feeling the cauterized wound from that energy blade. Jie Shan winced once in pain as he patted it.
That had not been good.
Jie Shan was incredibly out of practice, that much was obvious. No doubt that Jie Shan could have won and killed Galen in a fight to the death, but it would not have been an easy win. All that said to Jie Shan was that he really needed to step up his training once again.
"Damn," muttered Jie Shan, as he righted himself and forced himself to his feet. Grunting, he walked over to his fallen friend and patted at the man's belt until he found a pouch of those fancy beans. Carefully, Jie Shan undid the pouch string and drew out one of the beans, sliding it between Galen's lips, should the boy be receptive.
And with that, Jie Shan sat down beside the boy and looked him up and down. Such strength, he thought, it was enough to make Jie Shan jealous. Luckily they were on the same side: protectors of the universe and Earth.
