about Jie Shan Lan Dian
"Quotes are a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words."
It was cold in the north of Earth of again. It was always cold in the north, that biting chill keeping all but the hardiest of people away from the north. Jie Shan Lan Dian did not mind the cold, not one little bit. In fact, he was glad for it. The cold came with certain benefits. Like, for example, it certainly kept neighbors from crowding his space. No, he thought, the chilling, stark grey environs that he had made his home on Earth would not turn into suburbia, where parents moved to raise their kids and walk their dogs. And though Jie Shan was not antisocial- far from it, in fact- he did enjoy his privacy and his peace and quiet. And it was mornings like these that made him glad for it.
Jie Shan stepped out into the courtyard of his manor and into the cold morning sunlight wearing only a thin, light grey gi marked with a single Earthling kanji on his back: the symbol for lightning. And, of course, his blade was strapped to his back. The hybrid rarely went anywhere without that sword; it was like an extension of himself, a fifth limb, albeit one made of space grade steel.
The cold morning air sent a shiver down his spine and his skin prickled, though not in a way that was wholly unpleasant. It was. . . exhilarating, like stepping into a cold shower. Dark Saiyan eyes immediately grew a little wider and cold, refreshing air entered his lungs. It was the stuff that brought muse to the poets, thought Jie Shan, the ultimate pick-me-up. And if the hybrid has been cut from the same cloth as bards and the artists of the universe, such lofty poetics might escape his lips and eloquently express the beauty and near religious splendor of such a morning. Unfortunately, Jie Shan was not fashioned from such material, though he did have an artist's soul. It just so happened that his art was a departure from the world of words and creation; no, his was a dance of steel. Funnily enough, it was his art that had enabled him to enjoy such a morning: the Lightning Blade Arts, his own creation, his aptly named 'art'. Jie Shan rose every morning in order to tend his work; in this case, it was training.
But that was not all that the young hybrid had in mind for today: the night before, he had given a task to the chief among his apprentices, Dou Furu. At the crack of dawn, Dou Furu was meant to leave their northern home and make for the location of one Galen, the boy who made his home in Earth's mystical lookout. And there, Dou Furu was to invite Galen to a round of sparring at the Lan Dian estate. As Jie Shan's eyes rose to the sun, it occurred to him that if Dou Furu had done exactly as Jie Shan had asked, it would not be long before Galen would arrive or Dou Furu would be reporting back to tell Jie Shan that Galen had refused the invitation. If the former were to arrive, Jie Shan would not see his apprentice before nightfall: he had given Dou Furu the day to himself, save for the caveat that he must report home first if Galen had refused.
Jie Shan hoped Galen would arrive. Jie Shan's blade ached to once again test his mettle against the Earthling's steel; the boy had a masterful amount of skill with a blade, enough to match Jie Shan's own. And the Saiyan blood in his veins loved a challenge.

Jie Shan dispatched Dou Furu to retrieve Galen. Feel free to write whatever you want about that encounter!

To put it into simple words, Galen was bored. Cornatto was too busy lately for them to train and Christopher was gone, he went to the new headquarters of the Saiyan Remnants on Planet Namek, while Arion and Cleo were minding their own business. Even Calla was busy with her school and training alone had become quite dull, now that his power had grown. ”It’s so sad… Us humans can’t grow quite as fast as the saiyans… I feel like I’ve hit a milestone forever and I can’t seem to increase my power enough to pose a challenge to most of them, even if I keep on refining my skill and finesse…” and this frustration was depressing. The human swordsman stood there, leaning against the horizontal windows of the first floor of his home atop the Korin’s Tower.
This boredom led him to think about another friend: Jie Shan. The last time they sparred was pretty amazing, even though Galen ended up being completely trashed by the hybrid saiyan’s absurd power. ”The Super Saiyan… Sometimes I wish I had something like that. I have my inner power but it is nowhere near as strong as that form…” he thought to himself, thinking about the absurd burst of power Jie Shan and Christopher had when they ascended to their form. This frustration made him feel a little angry, not at his friends, but at his own situation; Galen loved being a human and he was happy with that, but as a protector, it was ultimately a hindrance.
But fate is something odd and it works in a weird way. On the very same day Galen thought about his friend, one of his… How should he call, employees? Whatever. In any case, Galen was quite surprised Dou Furu showed up and invited him to go to the Lan Dian estate for a sparring session. Galen’s eyes glowed in excitement and he promptly accepted the invitation. The Tower Keeper wasted no time in grabbing his sword and heading towards the exit of the tower. Noticing that, the Flying Nimbus approached quickly, but Galen shook his head. ”Sorry, my friend, not this time! I’m in a hurry and now I’m faster than you.” and with that being said, Galen flared his light blue ki aura and scratched the skies heading north, far above the clouds.
Took Galen nothing but minutes to arrive, while the sun was still out there. Galen landed in front of his home, not suppressing his ki at all, so that the hybrid could sense him. ”Hey, Mister Jie! I’m here!” he shouted, unable to hide his excitement.

A familiar pressure formed in the center of Jie Shan's. Galen? It had to be, thought Jie Shan, it felt just like his power. But it had grown a fair bit larger since they had last met; it seemed that the young Earthling swordsman had been busy. Though that was a good thing, for all intents and purposes. Idle hands of heroes rarely did anyone any good, and that boy was definitely the stuff of heroes. "He has a good heart," muttered Jie Shan as he closed his eyes and focused in on the energy of his friend, "Probably better off than I am."
It seemed that the young Earthling had landed at the front of the home. With a sigh, Jie Shan made for the front of his home, stepping out of the open air courtyard and into the warm halls of his home, making his way down the passages until he finally reached the front door. There, he pushed open the heavy wooden door that barred the portal to his home and peeked his head around for a moment, before stepping out in full view of the swordsman. Jie Shan's tail unfurled happily behind him as he raised a hand in greeting to his friend.
"Galen!" He exclaimed, "Glad you could make it. Come on in!" Jie Shan stepped aside and gestured for the boy to enter his home. "And you know, Galen," he continued, "You really don't have to come to the front door. You can just drop into the courtyard from now on. Probably quicker for both of us."
Jie Shan laughed, a sound like masculine silver bells. He glanced at his friend, giving a quick, investigative look. It seemed like his ally had come ready for a spar. An itching feeling went up his spine, ready for the fight to come, but suddenly manners came flooding back to him; Jie Shan was a host after all! The young hybrid cleared his thoat.
"Oh," he interjected, "I nearly forgot. Can I get you anything, Galen? Tea? Breakfast? Anything at all?"

It didn’t take Jie Shan long to reach the door and open it for Galen. The human smiled upon seeing his friend and preferred sparring partner. ”Hello!” the swordsman replied after Jie Shan shout his name and, after he was invited to get inside the house he promptly did so, bowing a bit before passing through the portal. The human turned his head back when Jie Shan started speaking again, saying he could just land on his courtyard thus making it quicker for both of them and he nodded acknowledging that. ”Sure, Mister Jie, if you don’t think it’s invasive and impolite, I will surely do that next time!” he said in a gentle tone. Galen was hyped for this spar and that much was clear from his body language and the kind of clothes he was sporting.
It caught him by surprise when Jie offered him some food or drink and that made him chuckle a bit and shake his head. ”I appreciate your offer and care, Mister Jie, but I’m alright. I came here ready for our sparring session, so I had some food beforehand, but if you feel you need to eat, I don’t mind waiting, we can sit and talk about stuff while you do so.” his tone was calm, but there were traces of excitement hidden in between the lines. Galen’s hand was itching for the hilt of his sword, and his ki was completely unsuppressed, ready to be unleashed with all he had; Now that he had mastered the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School, he felt like he was definitely ready to try and even the odds, even against that Super Saiyan form thing.
If it meant he would have to tap into the greatest of his tension, then so be it, it was no longer that dangerous. It was funny but Galen had managed to learn how to control his emotions in his angry fueled transformation and that made him feel quite more satisfied with himself; it was still a very emotional and sort of unstable state, but not quite as much and he could definitely think clearly this time.

Jie Shan rolled his eyes as the young Earthling swordsman entered his home. The boy was always so polite and formal. Which the halfblood supposed was a good thing, in the long run, but Jie Shan could not help but think it was a bit silly to be so formal in the company of friends. But iltimately, Jie Shan shrugged it off and said nothing as the boy elaborated on the manners behind dropping into his courtyard unannounced. Galen, Jie Shan had decided, would simply be Galen and there was precious little else Jie Shan could do about it, even after he had verbally expressed otherwise to the man before. However, for all the boy's speech and tone, his body certainly told another story: Jie Shan could see that his friend was ready to go at it already. Just like Jie Shan himself was. Did Galen's blade also have that itch of anticipation, that desire to be drawn and be a part of a ballad of singing steel?
This was made even more evident when Galen readily dismissed Jie Shan's offers of sustenance, and a wide, sly grin came over Jie Shan's face. So, thought Jie Shan, it seemed as if the two swordsmen were of a mind: both were ready to fight and test their mettle against one another. It was to be expected of a half Saiyan like Jie Shan, with that latent fighting instinct coursing through his blood stream, but for Galen? Jie Shan was surprised. It was a pleasant surprise, to be sure, but still a surprise. Maybe the Earthling boy had a little Saiyan blood in him as well, or Galen was a true rarity among Earthling warriors, the ones who seemed to lack a Saiyan's will, want, or ferocity to fight. But Jie Shan appreciated finally having a partner who could stand on par with Jie Shan.
"You know what, Galen?" Jie Shan asked, "If you're ready to go, I'm ready to go. I think we're both pretty on edge here and both of us just wanna take some swings at each other."
Jie Shan rocked the sword between his shoulder blades, actively fidgeting the strap that fastened the blade to his back. It was almost as if the blade were whispering to him, asking to be cut loose, to shine brilliantly in radiant sunlight and sing and whistle through the air as Jie Shan swung it.
"So," continued Jie Shan, "Let's go out to my courtyard and get this going, shall we?"
Jie Shan gestured for Galen to follow him as the hybrid started his journey down the halls of his home, which out to be somewhat familiar to Galen, and arrived in his courtyard before long. As Jie Shan stepped over the flagstones and towards the center of the courtyard, he drew his blade and turned to face Galen, making sure that there was some measure of distance between them.
"Ready when you are, pal!" He exclaimed, "Come at me with everything you've got! I really want us to sweat!"

Galen chuckled when Jie Shan said he was also ready to go, pointing out that they were both on the edge, ready to clash with their steel and soul. ”Oh yeah! I was carving for a good fight. Things can get rather dull on the Tower sometimes, and… Truth be told, I’m tired of feeling like the consolation prize warrior of the X-Fighters.” and that was enough to reveal a bit of his inner feelings; even though Galen was a quite honest individual, he wasn’t into talking about his deepest feelings all the time and would instead hide them away with a cordial smile and a polite attitude.
Being around saiyans for such a long time lit a flare inside his heart, a flare not natural to a human, but that seemed just like the nature of a saiyan. He was a peaceful individual, but he wanted to protect things he held dear and the inability to do so made him mad, and that anger, that fury awoke a power inside of him, a tension that would make his blood run like crazy through his veins as his heart beats like it was about to blow to pieces. Unknowingly to him, his body had evolved and so had his ki and the saiyans influence would be more clear in the near future, but when would that power awake? It was yet to be seen.
In any case, Galen followed Jie to the courtyard, reaching the center of the place and there he stood with some feet in between the two warriors. At the very same time they drew their blades, and Galen’s broad sword was free from its confinement once more. Galen put the blade in front of himself, in a much more refined Kikoukenjutsu Sword School stance. Jie would probably remember it and notice how much it improved since the last time they fought; Galen had finally fully mastered his fighting style and was ready to rumble.
”But let’s cut the introduction. We had plenty of that before.” and gritting his teeth, his skin started to become pink due to the intense blood flow, his hair became purple and one of the locks was bristled and spiked, his eyes became bright crimson as he reached his High Tension state.
[High Tension. PL: 1,696,990]
”Before I would get really damn mad in this form, but I’m better at it now. I call this my High Tension mode!” he explained and, although he wasn’t in a blind rage now, he was clearly serious, sheltering his anger with the power of his will. ”Now… Show me that Super Saiyan of yours!” and he truly wanted them to go at it full power.

"That's a very fine sentiment, Galen," affirmed Jie Shan, "The desire to surpass your limits is a very fine one, indeed. And your heart is in the right place. So, let's you and I prove that you're not a two bit warrior and you really know how to use that sword of yours!"
Jie Shan could empathize with Galen. The desire to surpass one's limits was only natural. Jie Shan himself had wanted such a thing, years ago, before he had even ascended to the Super Saiyan state. Though now that time had passed, Jie Shan had grown oddly comfortable with his current amount of power. Perhaps Galen was correct, as a whole. If Galen was ready to rise above and prove himself, should Jie Shan not seek to rise above as well? The young hybrid knew well enough that there were further iterations of the Super Saiyan state well beyond what he was capable of now: the form used by the likes of Nasu and company. Hell, even that golden Great Ape of Komatsu's ought to be some variant of the Super Saiyan state. All his peers, they were quickly surpassing him in terms of Super Saiyan prowess. And here he was, lounging on Earth. Maybe Jie Shan ought to take a cue from Galen.
For now, though, Jie Shan watched as Galen took a fighting pose. Sword drawn, the boy held himself with a refined mastery, unlike what Jie Shan had seen from him before. Galen, thought Jie Shan, had made some rapid improvements in the last few months. It was actually quite impressive, and it put Jie Shan to shame. If Jie Shan had taken to his own training with the same fervor, who knew what echelon he might be standing atop now? But no, Jie Shan had stupid. The halfblood had squandered his time, when others had been using it to shore themselves up in the world.
Well, no more. Today would be Jie Shan's first step back on the path of power.
And before the clash of blades came, Galen went a step further: his body coursed with magenta energy and his hair and eyes changed in an instant, his power now crackling with new energy! It was something, thought Jie Shan, for an Earthling to increase their power what felt like tenfold. And it seemed as if Galen had mastered this state, much like a Saiyan warrior must master their own Great Ape and, if they were lucky, their Super Saiyan state. The latter of which, Galen was now asking Jie Shan to ascend to.
Jie Shan opened his mouth, but immediately closed it. He had wanted to say 'no', to tell Galen that it would not work, that if Jie Shan actively fought in the Super Saiyan state that it would be unfair to Galen, that Jie Shan would be far out of the Earthling's league. But then a memory wormed its way to the surface. This was Galen's stand and this courtyard was his proving ground. It would be downright wrong to deny a warrior such a demand.
"Alright, Galen," said Jie Shan, a sudden grimace overtaking the hybrid's face, "I will go Super Saiyan."
The Super Saiyan state was a wild beast. Even now, Jie Shan was unsure how much power he wanted to put into it. He could turn into the hulking golden warrior, or he could content himself with a simple, vanilla Super Saiyan transformation. Gritting his teeth, Jie Shan shifted to a fighting pose and in an instant, called the golden energy forth. In a lightning quick flash, Jie Shan's silver hair went gold and stood on end and his black Saiyan eyes turned teal. His muscles became even more refined as the golden aura swallowed him and he felt his own power increase many times over.
Jie Shan extended his blade towards Galen. "This is it, Galen: Super Saiyan," said Jie Shan, his voice low and dangerous, "I hope this is what you wanted. Now, come at me!" Jie Shan has gone SSJFP! New PL: 4,163,360/3,903,150
Just like he had asked, Jie Shan decided to oblige to Galen’s request and ascend to his Super Saiyan form. The Golden Warrior of legend was there and Galen couldn’t help but to feel awestruck. His Ki sensing ability went over the top when Jie’s power became so high that it wasn’t even fair to compare with his High Tension mode and that made him scoff, not angry at Jie Shan, but with himself: was that truly the limit of a human? While Galen had never met a human that was stronger than himself, Cleo had a similar mean to power-up through her masks and it made her increase her power the same amount as he could. It was almost like he was fire and she was ice, but with the same intensity. To think that it may be the peak of a human’s potential was something that hurt and he grimaced with the thought. ”No… it can’t be. I can’t be this week forever! I don’t care how much I have to train, I will overcome my limits! I will overcome my humanity even! I will show, through my will power, that us, humans, aren’t just fodder!” and his determination, together with his frustration and rage were fueling something deep inside him and he could already feel the shivers running down his spine.
”So much power… Amazing! It’s sad, really… Heh… I can’t compare in raw power, but… I will make it up for it, with the POWER OF MY WILL!!” Galen shouted much louder in the last words and, without wasting anytime, he dashed forward with all of his available speed. His purple ki aura was intense around his body and around his sword. ”YYYYAAAAAAA!!!!!” Galen bent his knees a bit, putting a lot of pressure on his feet tendons and pushed himself upwards a lot, gaining the skies. Following that, he threw a powerful sword strike downwards, aiming to hit Jie Shan’s head with not only the power of his body and ki, but also using gravity with his fall, to make it faster and stronger, trying to make it up for the huge gap in their strength.
Galen couldn’t just count on his power and skill alone if he wanted to be a match to Jie Shan in this battle, otherwise he would be trashed just like he was the last time and he wasn’t willing to go down that easily now.

Dangerous teal eyes watched the Earthling swordsman, regarding him with curiosity. What was the boy thinking now? Had a feel of raw regret come over him? No, thought Jie Shan, he did not think that was like Galen. That would not be the same Galen who moments ago had demanded Jie Shan turn into a Super Saiyan, not the same Galen who had arrived at Jie Shan's door, ready and willing to fight. There was no way a warrior like Galen would be backing down now. Jie Shan was not even sure if there was a single shred of cowardice in the swordsman's soul.
Even now, the boy- no, thought Jie Shan, the man- was speaking his resolve. It seemed as if the very appearance of the Super Saiyan state had lit a fire under Galen, a feeling that caused the grimace on Jie Shan's face to break and for him to give the smallest of smirks before it once again dropped from his face. Jie Shan's blade was nearly twitching in anticipation as Galen screamed about the power of his will.
In a sudden burst of speed, Galen rushed forward and took off into the air for a moment before dropping out of the sky, his blade like a crack of lightning. But Jie Shan was lightning incarnate. As the boy sped towards earth like a crazed meteor, Jie Shan spun aside and dodged the blow, pirrouetting harmlessly out of the way of Galen's crazed attack!
"Too slow, Galen! Too obvious, Galen!" Roared Jie Shan, "What kind of attack was that?! Throwing yourself at a fresh, prepared enemy like that?! Leave the suicidal tactics to Saiyans!"
And with that, Jie Shan moved backwards, fleet footwork allowing him to dance away from the dive bombing swordsman. Things were starting to get heated already! At this rate, Jie Shan would have to get the courtyard repaired after this!
"Let's see you try and hit me!" Cried Jie Shan, "The Super Saiyan state alone puts my speed far above your own!"

Galen’s attack was far too easy for someone like Jie Shan to anticipate and to react to and, as it should be expected, he fully dodged the attack, fast as lightning and, immediately after that, he roared, saying it was far too obvious and slow and that his tactics were quite suicidal, and Galen didn’t disagree, but even though he showed no signs of reaction to his words, instead he just glared at Jie Shan with the corner of his crimson eyes as the hybrid moved backwards, telling him to try and hit Jie Shan with his lower speed and Galen narrowed his eyes.
The impact of his blade to the ground created a crack on the floor but the blade remained intact. Galen got back to his feet, with the sword ready and then faced him once again with a serious and determined look on his face. ”I’m just getting started! You may be faster, Mister Jie, but that means NOTHING!” and with those words, he dashed forward again, in what seemed – at first – like another reckless attack, but before he got close enough to strike, he let go of his right hand from the hilt and, pushing it forward he summoned a huge energy from within. ”AAAAAAHHHHH!!” he shouted as he used his Ultimate attack, the pinnacle of the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School and its most deadly technique.
From his hand, the blue colored energy stretched, aiming at Jie Shan’s chest with furious speed. He was hoping to catch him off-guard, but at the very least, if he missed, the blade would still be there, since Galen was able to retain it until he had used every last ounce of energy he had poured into it. However, though, if Jie Shan chose to block it instead, he would be catch by surprised, as the properties of the energy were such that any attempt to block its sharp blade would be useless and hurt the target.

Nothing? Speed meant nothing? Jie Shan rolled his eyes. The boy had guts and plenty of will power, the hybrid would give him that, but Galen was not saying anything within reality. Will power could only go so far to overcome sheer differences. There was a sharp divide between them, as if it had been cut clean by a blade. And even will power could not overcome such an obstacle; the Super Saiyan state was far too much for Galen to handle, despite the incredible ferocity with which Galen was capable of fighting with. "You know, Galen," said Jie Shan, "I can appreciate pushing yourself past your limits, but-"
The hybrid swordsman was cut off as Galen once again charged Jie Shan. Another simple rush attack, and from the front? That was bold, Jie Shan would give him that. But something was strange. The man took a hand from his sword as he approached, an odd move in Jie Shan's eyes as two hands was often better than one when it came to wielding a sword without a shield or accompanying piece of equipment. But in a moment, it became obvious just what Galen was doing: energy began to condense in Galen's hand and take the shape of a sword.
"A ki blade!" Muttered Jie Shan. Jie Shan prepared himself and sprung into air, floating there as Galen jabbed at him. Despite the difference in speed, Jie Shan only dodged by the skin of his teeth: where Jie Shan had stood, Galen and his energy blade were now there, piercing the very space he had occupied mere moments before.
"That's an impressive technique, Galen!" Exclaimed Jie Shan with raw awe, "I wonder how it stacks up to my own energy blade. . ."
Jie Shan's eyes were focused on the sharp looking beam of energy that was being palmed by Galen. A very interesting technique indeed. "How long did it take you to master that one?" Asked Jie Shan, "That's no ordinary ki attack!"
Even now, Jie Shan's own energy was reaching an arc. The blade within him itched and demanded to be tested against Galen's own ultimate technique.

Jie’s speech was interrupted by the sudden energy blade that manifested itself on his right hand, aiming to hit the hybrid right at the chest. It was too close for comfort, but still, the super saiyan managed to dodge the stab and Galen clicked his tongue, frustrated with his second failure of an attack. ”Dammit! Almost got him! But almost is nothing!” he thought to himself, immediately following his opponents movement with his crimson eyes. Jie Shan was amazed by the technique and that would normally leave Galen quite happy, but this was not the time to be goofing around and Galen quickly moved his body to be once again facing his sparring partner.
Still, the Spirit Sword had a special trait to it: it wouldn’t vanish even after a failed attack. Instead, Galen’s right hand became a circular guard of an energy sword that seemed to be just as dangerously as it was on the first attempt of a stab; the energy signature from it hadn’t depleted the slightest and now the fuchsia fighter had the energy sword and his own broad sword on his hands, ready to keep on fighting.
”It took me ages! But this is the supreme technique of the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School, the Spirit Sword! I won’t tell you just yet all it does, but I invite you to find out, Mister Jie! I’m not holding back in the slightest, this is me going all out! I know the odds aren’t in my favor, but if I’m going to be defeated again, I will at least make you work for it!” he said in a determined tone as he adjusted his stance to match his current two swords style. Another good thing about the Spirit Sword was that Galen could recover his energy while still using it, making him a dangerous opponent who couldn’t be underestimated, even with such a gap in between their power levels.
”Now take this!” and, without moving, Galen pointed his energy blade towards Jie Shan one more time and, against all odds, it stretched towards the hybrid! Galen didn’t move, thus he didn’t quite expose himself, but being able to control the blade was another perk of the technique.

The 'Spirit Sword'? Jie Shan cocked an eyebrow in interest. So that's what it was named and apparently it was some sort of ultimate technique as well, some secret art. Impressive, thought Jie Shan. The hybrid could feel the energy emanating from the blade, pulsing with dangerous, sharpened power, the kind that would slice right through him like peach skin if he were careless. A truly dangerous skill, one that nearly approached his own Lightning Blade in terms of pure power. Jie Shan would need to be careful if he was not going to be diced to bits by the ultimate technique of this so called Kikoukenjutsu.
"I see!" Roared Jie Shan, "I guess I'll have to learn your secrets through good, old fashioned investigation!"
But Jie Shan's investigation was cut short! Before he could even react, the Earthling continued his assault, though not in a way Jie Shan had even could have predicted: the energy blade expanded rapidly and flew towards Jie Shan! This, he thought, was not like a normal energy blade. This was something special after all! Jie Shan hesitated, ready to move out of the way but his body would not move in time. Instead, the blade zipped through the air like a brilliant air, coming for Jie Shan in a blinding fury. At the very last moment, Jie Shan finally moved, floating to the side, but it was far too late: the blade rammed into his side, giving him a shallow cut near his rips. Part of the grey gi he wore was vaporized beneath the intense energy of the Spirit Sword, the wound instantly cauterizing from the super heated ki. Pain shot through Jie Shan's body and he buckled, but that was not all that was spreading through him: rage also rose to the surface, despite the friendly nature of the spar.
Lightning crackled across his body as he emotions flared, his Elemi blood coming to the surface and peal of lightning shot from him and struck the ground mere feet from where Galen stood. His breathing became harsh and he grit his teeth like a wild animal; Jie Shan was ready to fight.
No.
The Saiyan hybrid had to calm down. He needed to stop, before he hurt Galen. Slowly, the rage faded as Jie Shan took control of his own mind once again. The bloodlust that had lit a fire in his veins came to a slow, protesting stop as Jie Shan loosened his jaw. Breathing became steady once again and the halfblood forced a smile onto his own face.
"That's pretty impressive, Galen!" Grunted Jie Shan, "Now let me show you my ultimate technique!"
Quickly, Jie Shan loosed one hand from the hilt of his own sword, just like Galen had done. But instead of forming a blade of raw ki, a different kind of sword was being forged. Energy ran wild within Jie Shan as his inner lightning came to the surface. The ground rumbled beneath him as he gather power and in a flash of brilliant light, a crackling blade of pure lightning formed in Jie Shan's hand. It was long and deadly, super charged for combat. And Jie Shan was really going in on this, putting even more energy into the blade!
"Okay, Galen!" Growled Jie Shan, "Let's see how you deal with a different kind of blade!"
And with that, Jie Shan dived at his friend, like hail out of a storm. As he came closer, Jie Shan leveled a mighty swing at Galen, the blade cutting through the air, a brilliant storm of white-blue Saiyan fury. [ULT] The Lightning Blade: With this technique, the user takes the primal, earth shattering element that is lightning and forces it into the shape of a sword. However, given the sheer power of this technique, and the unstable nature of lightning, the blade cannot be held for long. A user, however, may charge the technique, but it cannot be used repeatedly like the Spirit Sword. Hoever, it does have it's own strengths. First, is the sheer power of the technique. Secondly, the blade is the essence of lightning itself, and leaves the target with a nasty shock, stunning them. Mechanically, it manifests itself as a 110% charge with a maximum of 440%, and it imparts a stun of one turn per charge, for a total of four turns maximum. The charge cannot be assisted.
Using a charge of hybrid's Warrior Spirit for an additional 10%

Galen’s attack was fast and it almost caught Jie Shan by surprise completely. The blade stretched and rammed by his flank, vaporizing his gi and injuring his flesh, but it wasn’t a deep wound. True it would most definitely hurt, but it would be way too far from actually doing a serious enough damage to grant Galen an advantage in this fight. At least the attack seemed to be enough to put some more heat into his bloodstream and, for a moment, Jie Shan looked like he was about to burst into his saiyan fury, but alas, he manage to keep it in check and the human was glad for it in a way; should he face him going truly all-out, there was little he could do right at this moment.
In any case, Jie Shan seemed like he was ready to show what he had under his sleeves and when he said that, Galen exhaled deeply and made a brief nod. Focusing his power on his hand, the Spirit Sword reappeared once again; it hadn’t vanished completely, but it had indeed lost some of its power. ”I’m looking forward to that, but don’t think you defeated the Spirit Sword yet. I can control the energy output of it, so it’s a very intelligent technique! I won’t lose all of my energy if I just graze you! I will lose just what I actually used against you so… I could say I still have like… Seventy percent of it, right here with me!” he said, cracking a smirk with the corner of his mouth and pointing the energy blade right at Jie once again.
When Jie Shan summoned his ultimate technique, Galen was awestruck by it. It was even more impressive to manifest than the Spirit Sword and god, it felt absurdly strong. Galen adjusted his fighting stance, pierced his broad sword into the ground, so he could focus all of his soul onto his own Spirit Sword, because he knew that if he was to face the Lightning Blade halfhearted, it would be his doom. ”Amazing! So much power! It’s like a sword forged by lightning itself! Not just regular ki energy! I envy you, Mister Jie! Not only your super form, but this attack… But… Don’t think for a second you will defeat the Spirit Sword easily! Let’s see who will still be standing after this clash of energy blades!” Galen said in a rather excited tone. The human was feeling shivers running down his spine like crazy, as well as butterflies in his stomach! Unlike the last time they sparred, this time they were truly going all out.
As Jie Shan attacked, Galen responded by dashing forward against the lightning that was formed after he struck the air. ”Burn bright, Spirit Sword!” he shouted as he clashed against Jie’s thunder attack. Galen could feel the absurd pressure of the attack and, focusing all of his power onto that struggle, he managed to pour more energy onto his Spirit Sword, making it grow again in power and, for a moment, it seemed like he would be able to fight the Lightning Blade on equal grounds.
But that didn’t happen.
After a couple seconds struggling to hold his ground, it was clear Galen was about to lose his footing and the energy of the Spirit Sword was being drained at a very fast pace trying to keep up with Jie’s ultimate skill. ”AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” Galen screamed as he poured his soul onto that attack, but in the end, the Spirit Sword broke away and the lightning struck him like it was piercing right through his whole body. The shock was intense and painful, much more so than the Thunder Shock Surprise Cornatto used against him and the shock rendered him incapable of moving.
Smoke came out of his body as he stood there, electrocuted before falling back to the ground, apparently defeated. Galen couldn’t move because he was stunned and, right now, he was unconscious, but deep inside his mind and heart, he was still struggling. ”No! No! No! I can’t go down like that! Come on, body, don’t let me down!” he begged and, oddly enough, his ki refused to return to his base form, even though he was supposed to be out cold.

So the technique had controllable energy output? Clever, thought Jie Shan, and wonderfully crafty property for an attack. Of course, the Lightning Blade, as Jie Shan had designed it, numbered among the most powerful techniques in the universe, but it was an all or nothing sort of deal. He either hit a foe with planet splitting power or he did not. It did not have the fine control that this Spirit Sword had, not even close. Perhaps that was another strength to chalk up in favor of Galen's technique: it was by far one of the most versatile techniques Jie Shan had ever seen. Seventy percent power still. . . And it had already wounded Jie Shan. Whatever came next would be astounding, Jie Shan was sure of that much. Sparks were going to fly.
As the swordsman spoke about the power of the Spirit Sword and the raw power of the Lightning Blade, Jie Shan's teal Super Saiyan eyes burned bright with a kind of battle focus. Years of harsh training that had nearly broken him burned in the back of his skull, a thousand angry, clawing ghosts and demons behind them, their flaming claws reaching out from beyond the prison bars, licking at the tender parts of his psyche. One day, the demons would break free and they would run amok with Jie Shan's power, but today was not that day. Today was like any other battle for the half Saiyan warrior, albeit a fiercely friendly and fun one.
The two energy blades clashed. What happens when two unstoppable forces meet? A clap of power, an explosion like thunder. Jie Shan grit his teeth during the clash and forced the blade through, like he was cutting through something thick. In what seemed like an eternity, the clash continued. His muscles grew taut like steel cables, drawn to a near snapping point like a piano wire. Was he actually going to lose this one? Could the power of Galen's technique actually be enough to surpass the Lightning Blade?
And in the end: no, it was not.
With a final surge of power, the Spirit Sword crumbled like dust beneath the superior force of the Lightning Blade. Jie Shan won out with pure power, finally breaking through the glass barrier that stood between him and Galen. His blade cut through with trailing glory, and finally, the sword of pure lightning smashed straight into Galen. World busting power channeled to a fine point went into Galen all at once, like the perfect storm.
And then the Earthling fell. The man crumpled to the ground, his aura still blazing with reddish power. Even now, thought Jie Shan, his fighting spirit would not allow him to surrender. The last shreds of lightning dissipated from Jie Shan's hands and his now free hand went to his side where he had taken the slight blow from the blade. The wound stung as he patted it down, but the young hybrid grinned and bore it. He had lived through worse, and this one would heal cleanly. But damn, he thought, if it did not sting like a bitch. Grunting, Jie Shan focused on his fallen friend. Slowly, he crouched down beside Galen and looked him over.
Even now, the boy's body was maintaining its transformation. "Impressive," whispered Jie Shan to himself, "A Super Saiyan state usually would have faded after the body was put out of commission. Whatever this is, it's something else entirely. Maybe I ought to have Rudieri run some tests on him, she might be able to figure out more. . ."
But that was for another time. Jie Shan shook his head. Galen's body, he deduced, was likely in shock from the sudden induction of lightning. It was just as expected. If they had been fighting for real, Jie Shan would have killed him.
"Damn," muttered Jie Shan, "I'll need to be careful with this technique. I don't wanna end up vaporizing my friends with it."
Jie Shan brought his head closer to Galen's ear. "Easy there, bud," he muttered, "If you can hear me, I'm going to need you to relax. You're probably in shock and you need to let your body right itself. Your head is probably swimming, too. Don't try any sudden movements. We gotta be sure nothing is permanently cooked."
Jie Shan sighed. Well, he thought, this was not good, to say the least. But that was the way the cookie crumbled. Jie Shan would just need to be more careful from now on. But lightning was dangerous stuff. One wrong move and Jie Shan could explode hearts or send somebody into a seizure. And that was the last thing he wanted to do to Galen. But at least his body seemed to be taking it well enough. Maybe the human was made from tough enough stuff after all. More than most, thought Jie Shan. Hell, even tougher than many Saiyans.
