Maikeru stood peacefully among his heavenly planet. The sapphire blue sky eternally graced by beautiful stars loomed overhead. The Supreme Kai of the North graced his fingers over the soft billowing blades of grass underneath him. A cool gentle breeze graced his skin. He wanted to take in every sensation of this world; a world that was his throne, his home and his safe haven. Maikeru wanted to memorize every image, touch, and smell and ingrain it into his heart for the rest of eternity.
The shin-jin let out a calm sigh. He knew he would miss this wonderful world of his as he prepared to embark on his new mission. All of his experiences among the mortals and gods alike have led him down this path; down to this decision. Maikeru did not come to this new line of thinking easily. It was probably the most difficult decision that he had ever and will ever make in his entire existence.
Tears began to streak down his face. But the Northern Kaioshin, while clenching his fist, carried a face of determination. He knew the risks that could occur. He knew what he could and would lose. The very act of it would ostracize him from the ranks of the gods. It would open up a world of evil to him, the Makai and devious mortals who would do anything to prey upon a deity like himself. Any protection or good graces he had with Lord Lagerus, Whis and the other shin-jins would no longer apply to him. Maikeru would truly be on his own.
But what could be gained by such an act could be so much more. This lone deity was going to put every mortal and divine life ahead of him. It would be the chance for him to make a real difference the change countless worlds, unshackled by the limitations imposed upon him by his “superiors”. Maikeru knew many would not understand as to why. With new mortals rising to chase after godly thrones, why would in any gods name would he walk away from one?
Maybe he was just grown differently than the rest. “A bad fruit” of both literal and figurative means. If sitting back and watching the universe he cares about rip itself apart while only allowing Maikeru to act if it meant creating something new for evil to knock down was the plan, then it was not a right fit for him.
Maikeru approached his temple and knelt down in its center. This ludicrous act of creation could have explosive properties. If there was any place in the entirety of creation for Maikeru to perform it, it would be as far away as possible from the mortal realm and the lives it could hurt. He took a deep breath and concentrated his mind on his powers of creation. But, instead of creating an external manifestation, he channeled the divine power inward upon himself.
Lightning and thunder ran rampant around him. Streaks of blue creation energy drove deep into the shin-jin’s robes and flesh. The pain startled him out of the ritual. He wasn’t expecting such great pains from using his powers on himself. Maikeru shook off the scorch marks and burns by remembering why he was doing this.
Tearing off his scorched robes, Maikeru regained his composure and his convictions and continued to draw in and focus his god ki upon his flesh once again. He could feel the vivid pain return to him, protesting every second of this act. Feeling a warm blue light envelop him like a cocoon, Maikeru began to drift asleep as he continued his metamorphosis. Dreams of what he would become passed through his subconscious.
