Sinthe was bored, not an altogether peculiar state of affairs to be sure, but that was the honest truth and planet busting was a lot like takeout. It was nice at the time but you only ever wanted something else an hour or so later. Namek had that unburdened tranquility thing going on which could go whistle as far as he was concerned, but by contrast Earth was a place of peaks and valleys. Literally and figuratively as the case may be, well, he didn’t notice that so much as he did all the stupid looking dome houses but in regards to activity he was still on the money. Ina way it seemed to him to be far more annoying, not only did it mean that he awaited the next uptick of activity which might peak his interest with some measure of anxious glee but by the same token he kind of resented that this stuffy little backwater had the sheer gall to be so enthralling only intermittently.
That he had taken to its food so readily and that he had no better place to be were chief amongst the reasons he’d not tabled the idea of helping this world along its way as well. Besides which Cervez seemed fairly fond of it as well and that wasn’t a conversation he had the patience for right now, they were getting along surprisingly well considering he’d expected they would be like… well like cats and dogs as a matter of fact.
Upon getting back he’d hardly spent an hour in his own place before he decided that was his breaking point, he needed to be doing something, preferably to someone he didn’t like. In aid of this aim he’d decided to take yet another a whistle-stop tour of Earth since it only ever seemed to be that he ran in to anything truly interesting when he was doing nothing of particular interest.
And as if on cue something flashed bright along the periphery of his senses, bringing him to a sudden and complete stop. It had become common now for him to encounter powers that were a league above his own but he thought that he’d about got a handle on the ones on Earth even if he’d only sensed some of them from a ways off. Apparently not, apparently there was this… whatever it was hiding under his nose all the time. Most people would have taken the time out to consider whether or not barreling headfirst into someone they more or less knew to be their superior but Sinthe had never in his life felt over burdened by wisdom. How was anyone supposed to have any fun if they thought through the consequences of their actions?
’Now that’s impressive,’ it would seem as though even when he was being honest Sinthe couldn’t really find it in himself to purge all note of condescension from his voice. It probably didn’t help that he stood now above the lone swordsman atop a spire of rock, leaning forward on one knee like he was all that. ’And here I thought I’d turn over every rock of significance on this here dustball.’

Jie Shan had gone south, far south. Typically, Jie Shan stuck to the frozen north, like a tongue against a metal pole in winter. It was, for all intents and purposes his home, more than any Saiyan territory could claim to be, but even so, Jie Shan had grown restless while he was up in his home. And while typically, the light, cottony snowfall that often came down over the north like the whitest and lightest of sheets was a comforting presence for Jie Shan, the stark greys and whites of his typical haunt had clashed dully against his own dark eyes today.
The south sat opposite the north, as anybody with even passing knowledge of the cardinal directions would know, though Jie Shan had not even struck out with such a destination or knowledge of the compass rose in mind; he had simply picked a direction and flown it, going wherever the winds took him. It just so happened to take him south. A pleasant surprise; or so it would be if Jie Shan had thought to dress for the occasion. Having lived in the north for some years now, Jie Shan typically dressed for the cold. And that is how he found himself dressed in the south, utterly inappropriate for the weather. A coat with a fur line around the neck, dark jeans cut black-dyed denim, and his brown monkey tail forming a double layer with his leather belt, both cinched tight around his waist.
It was like wearing just his boxers to a formal occasion.
The only thing that felt truly right about this whole situation was the sword on his back, but even that felt odd and out of place: it was not his typical sword, that heirloom weapon passed down on to him from his mother. Instead, Jie Shan found an Earth-make blade strapped to his back today, not unlike the one wielded by his friend and sparring partner Galen.
Out of his element, Jie Shan had landed in the south and begun to walk along the land, mind deep in thought about the events that had recently transpired. They did not sit well with him, the same way in which rotten meat does not sit well in a person's stomach. But what recourse did he really have?
His mind so addled by recent turnings, Jie Shan did not even notice the rather large power than had crept up on him like a black cat out of the shadows, stealthily padding around on all fours, much like he was some sort of silvery little mouse.
The new presence burst suddenly into the arena of his mind and Jie Shan cocked his head upwards and his eyes fell on a strange looking being. An animal type human? Not quite as common as the typical breed of human on Earth, he noted, but not unheard of in the slightest. But that did not seem right. As Jie Shan reached out with his mind and felt the power up and down, it did not feel quite like anything of this Earth.
It took an alien to know one.
Still, Jie Shan smirked and raised a hand in greeting. "Can't say I know you," he called out, "And I thought I knew every impressive battle power on this planet. Goes to show what I know."
Jie Shan tilted his head and stared at the cat-jackal-whatever-the-hell-man, his Saiyan orbs giving the man a quick appraisal.
"Now," he yelled to the man, "What brings you out here? Or did you come to see little ole me?"
’’Ohoho, flattery will get you everywhere, stranger,’ the Anubian chuckled in response of the lone swordsman’s assessment of him. He wasn’t normally one that let empty platitudes go to his head, but after spending so long lamenting his sudden drop in power it did sort of feel good for someone to acknowledge the effort he was putting in working back around to where he’d been. It wasn’t much effort sure but it happened on occasion.
That was a good question though, why was he there? The answer was fairly elementary. In the same way that some people with the ability to sense ki were prone to avoid comparable powers he was prone to rush over and punch them in the face. That escalation suddenly seemed quite a lot more rude, especially since the swordsman seemed so friendly. ’Oh well, you know. I sort of thought I had this planet figured out as well, maybe I’ve not been paying much attention,’ always the most likely cause, =purple]’but sensing little old you all of a sudden got my dander up. Such a foolish pair are we, it’s almost like someone’s playing a joke on us.’
Hopping down from his perch he let gravity do most of the work to get them to a more even footing, only applying the shortest, most innocuous dab of ki to slow his final landing, planting his feet gently but deliberately before he carried on. ’ I mean don’t get me wrong, it IS funny.’ Funny how? One might ask, it was perhaps only with the perspective a consummate outsider that it became truly apparent. This person, whoever they were, did not seem to be native, or wholly native if his senses were anything to go off of and so Sinthe thought that it might have occurred to them as well.
’These people. Earthlings?’ the word still tasted strange, probably because it had dirt in it, Planet Dirt, Dirt People, there was something in there. ’They all seem to be so fragile, ephemeral almost and yet while I’ve been here I’ve hardly had to fly a few miles in any direction to trip over noteworthy fighters.’ Noteworthy if not entirely exemplary, he thought to himself, without realizing he raised a hand, sliding his thumb up and down the scar on his cheek in a broken, idle sort of rhythm as he cupped his chin. ’I had been meaning to ask someone quite honestly but a lot of the other fighters I’ve met seem like they either wouldn’t know or would take exception; but between us offworlders, is this planet I dunno… important?’
Apart from having good food, he added in his head. Probably didn’t need saying, his swordsman had probably tasted it already.WC:456 Jie Shan Lan Dian

"This planet is full of surprises, I've found," remarked Jie Shan, "Though that's not always a good thing, you know?"
Indeed, thought Jie Shan, and the hybrid was staring up at one such surprise right now. But whether it would be a pleasant surprise or not was up in the air and all on the shoulders of the super power feline fighter above him, the one that Jie Shan regarded with interest and maybe just a hint of suspicion. Though perhaps he not ought be so judgmental; after all, Jie Shan was just as much of an alien to the planet as the catman was. At least Jie Shan presumed the cat was an alien; there were, of course, animal-type Earthlings that made the man's true identity hard to place. But the ki did not just feel human.
Jie Shan's brown Saiyan tail twisted behind him, serpent-like as he watched the powerful cat made his descent towards the earth and listened with intent as the man began to enthuse about the nature of this planet, making statements Jie Shan would be hard pressed to disagree with. They were very much true: the earthlings were especially flimsy by universal standards. And that their planet was home to fighters well beyond the nature of their species.
Maybe the Earth was important after all.
"It's hard to say," admitted Jie Shan, "After all, at first glance, this planet doesn't seem like much, does it? Backwater, not particularly resource rich, gravity not even worth a damn. . . Yeah, I can see why you might be questioning why you run into so many powerful fighters here. The same thought has crossed my mind a time or two."
Jie Shan shrugged and his prehensile tail wrapped tight around his waist. "And truthfully?" He asked rhetorically, "I can only offer you guesswork as to why. But I've spent a few years now and this place has a sort of. . . energy that just kind of sucks you in. I don't know, it's like this place has a special spot in the universe, like it's magic."
"Or maybe it's just a decent vacation spot," he laughed, "I don't really know."WC: 360
