The sort of races that traveled to and from Brench.
There was a time when the list was something which she wouldn't have bat an eye at, as there were plenty of things that required her attention. Were more suited to researching, and had more success with being recognized by her academic peers. But it would be a mistake to rule things out completely, and as unlikely as it had been at the time, she had still kept the thought in the back of her mind, in the case that she would wind up needing it.
She just didn't expect for that time to have come so soon. The air in her lab was warm as it usually was, with or without her having the windows open. But that was hardly something which she would consider to be a phenomenon, knowing the issue was simply living in an area that while wasn't terrible, could definitely be better.
Her point was practically proven, having to glance around her rather small workspace on a daily basis, doing what she could to make the best out of things, until she was able to garner enough zeni to get something much worthy.
For now though, she would just have to bear through it. Walking over to a mobile whiteboard, the notes she had written on it in marker, were inspected on both of its sides. It was amazing how much exhaustion affected the brain.
Not a lot of her thoughts here were really as coherent as they should be, and she found herself erasing the board, and rewriting both sides, before she had walked away and delve into the pile of other notes in the room.
What she had garnered from doing so, was a concern, that perhaps things on Planet Brench were changing. Development was needed, or rather expected, in order for a society to grow to its fullest. Though the rate that she was looking at here, she would hardly say was the good kind of change. So many of their visitors happened to be off-worlders.
The kind that didn't have much reason when it came to coming to a planet like this, when there were much better routes for what they needed. While she wanted to say she hadn't noticed it before, that wouldn't necessarily been accurate, as her findings here noted it was the Tuffle she had met, where she had first noticed such discrepancies.
That alien traveled here because of an outside force, and she had no doubts the same was happening lately, with these different species coming from much farther planets. There were lots of reasons why they could have been here, beyond someone else's influence. Her best guess would have been her people's gravity chambers, if she had to make one.
Power was such an easy pursuit to go after, and what she would consider to be beyond simple chasing. Possessing it could indeed influence situations and matters, but there were much better ways to be recognized that didn't involve flaunting such a thing. She wanted to believe as soldiers, the prospect of death wasn't something to fear.
That while it was always possible for someone else to be stronger, it didn't mean having to display weakness, or backing down from a title that could simply be taken, if given the time to just go and do so.
Though she supposed it was much easier to think that, being alone here in her lab, than if she was in a situation where her life was put at stake. But those were semantics that would just get in the way of her work here.
Believing that there was something going on, and that there was a problem, wasn't the same as proving it. And without the facts, she would be nothing more than someone who was spouting out nonsense than anything else.
The best way to start with gathering evidence, came with gathering data, and to do so, she'd have to leave her lab. Study those who were near the planet's landing docks, and see the faces that she would have normally ignored.
As much as she might not have liked venturing beyond her home, it was a necessity when it came to proving what she believed in. This particular research, if anything, would at least take her mind out of the rut she was in when it came to creating a speed formula. Bring her success into other affairs, even if it was just simple matters.
The goal of her belief was to make note of the effects these off-worlders would have on the planet. Should they prove to be the sort who was brought here due to power, would that influence her fellow Brenchians into pursuing the same?
Or would any of these aliens be foolish enough to take over the planet? Make them into something like slaves. Practically everyone that traded with them in the first place, was given the benefit of the doubt.
None of the other planets, she believed held any hostile intent towards her kind as well. To start a conflict out of what normal civilians like her would view as out of nowhere, could really prove to be problematic, and change the world in a way where they would no longer be able to live in peace. To where death and bloodshed was a normal sight.
If she could do whatever it took to stop that, nothing would stop her.
