Kyo Zanku stands at an imposing 7 feet tall. Which is nothing compared to his father’s nearly 8 feet in height. However his “mother’s” Saiyan blood caused some height decrease. He has a very brolic build with large slabs of muscle and wide shoulders. His skin is a very light teal skin, having been lightened by his Saiyan blood. However, the sure sign of his Saiyan lineage is his spikey hair. However, it is an unnaturally looking orange color like his father’s. He has very powerful eyes that never seem to how any sign of fear, regardless of what’s really going on inside. He has sharp facial features with a cutting jawline and a pointed chin to go with his pointy ears.
Backstory:
He was raised by his father, Shin Yaku, a space pirate and mercenary. In Shin Yaku’s culture it is a tradition to give two names to those fabled to be great warriors. Shin Yaku was the first to be given this honor in at least a hundred years. And his son, Kyo Zanku, would be the second. Having one Fabled Warrior in a family was an amazing honor, having two was unheard of. However, it may be a bit unfair. Kyo Zanku was ultimately an experiment by an old wizard. By mixing his father’s DNA with a particularly deadly female Saiyan’s DNA. The ultimate creation would then be placed inside of a surrogate human female to be carried.
He was born with an intimidating power level. Extensively trained from birth and brought up in a warrior culture. His father thought of him as a combination of the two most deadliest races in the universe. He killed his first opponent at age 4. He conquered planets at the age of 5 with his father and his crew. He’s watched battle cruisers explode in orbit at age 6. He’s witnessed and cause so much pain and suffering. He grew numb to it. Maybe even enjoyed it. This went on for 18 years, until it was time for him to experience his own pain and suffering.

Shin Yaku: The Erabashi
Shin Yaku was born to a long line of skilled warriors. Their lineage going back to well before the Saiyans made a name for themselves. It was no surprise that Shin Yaku would be born a great warrior. But something was different about him from birth. He was larger than all the Heran babies, which is saying something. His power would be unbelievable for a newborn. Being DOUBLE that of what would be considered a Saiyan Elite. This did not go by unnoticed.
Everyone took note of the child, even the shaman who confidently toted Shin Yaku as an Erabashi, a warrior of legendary refute. The likes of which the Herans had not been gifted with in centuries. The Shaman awarded him the second name Shin, to go with his original name, Yaku. He was celebrated by the Heran people. He was given king like power but he would be tested ruthlessly throughout his whole life. Not only by the Heran lifestyle itself, but also by the people of Hera, that hold him in such high regard. He would spend his whole like fighting, conquering, fighting, and killing for the highest bidder. The name Yaku carried a lot of weight in the galaxies. But time waits for no one, even a Heran. It was time to find an heir.
THE CREATION: 16 years ago
Shin Yaku ship floats through a barren asteroid field. As he approaches one of the medium sized drifting rocks it slowly rotates to reveal a docking station. Shin Yaku’s ship coasts into the docking bay and lands. Exiting his ship, Shin Yaku makes his way through the facility. It is large place containing rooms filled with many strange devices that Shin Yaku is ignorant to the functions of.
But each one seems to serve a function from robotics to more organic manipulation. He walks through a large double sliding door, finally finding the laboratory. He ducks through the doorway, revealing just how incredibly large he is, standing just shy of 8 feet tall and build like an absolute tank. Every part of his body is covered in thick layers of muscles. And likewise, he’s covered head to toe is a series of scars that he has collected over years of fighting, murdering and pillaging.
He has sharp features capped off with a strong jawline and long puffy, bright orange hair which flows down to the middle of his back. His eyes dart around, ever aware. He makes his way to the center of the room where there is what appears to be a frail old man. His back turned to Shin Yaku, his presence doesn’t seem to concern the old man at all.
That man is wrapped up in a black hooded robe that masks most of his features. Shin Yaku stops just a few paces behind and raises his massive hand. Within his grasp in a small thin tube of glass with a very thin metal encasement. The encasement provided just a slider of a window, just enough to reveal a crimson red liquid inside. Shin Yaku speaks with surprising excitement for such a stoic looking man.
“I’ve got it, I’ve got the sample from the female Saiyan warrior. The one you named, your perfect specimen”
“Good… Good”
"I still don't understand how someone so young could be the perfect specimen"
The old man says as he slowly turns around and shuffles towards Shin Yaku. Who, for whatever reason is overcome by a nervous expression. As if he is afraid of this little old man who looks like a child standing next to him. Shin Yaku delicately bends over and gently hands the old scientist the vial as if it was a baby itself. It’s clear that however he obtained this, it took a lot of effort and time.
“So Master Riley, you’re sure you can do it? You’re sure you can make my heir?”
“Hmhmhmhm” the old doctor laughs, “Of course I can, were you not happy with that sword of yours?”
“Of course, but creating a life is far more difficult than a weapon that takes them”
“Is it?” the hold man grins under his hood as he holds up the vial to peer at the blood inside.
“You just need to be prepared for the cost, my blue friend”
Shin Yaku hangs his head at the mention of this “cost” but he quickly raises it again and speaks.
“Whatever it takes”
Doctor Riley gingerly limps over to what would be a large incubation tube and glares up at it.
“A Saiyan and a Heran… The two most deadly warrior cultures. Hmhmhm, I’m going to be creating a monster. How perfect” his grin widens.
It is unclear what the wizard gets out of this. But within the next few months, Kyo Zanku would be created using the DNA of the two deadly warriors. He would spend his first 9 months of growth in a surrogate female human on Earth. He would then float inside of the wizard’s incubation chamber for an extra couple of months. The liquid inside of the incubation chamber would contain super charged proteins and vitamins. And who knows what else the old wizard had brewing. The chamber would accelerate Kyo Zanku to the age of two. The perfect age for the training to start, and without the need for any coddling, Shin Yaku thought. He would create the greatest warrior. He would create the greatest successor. Once arriving back on Heran, Kyo Zanku would also be given the title of “Erabashi” like his father. And his birth on Earth would be a close kept secret.
First Mission: Age 4
He had been training for years now and he’s finally going on his first mission with his father! The young Kyo Zanku was excited, this is what he’s been waiting for. What he’s been training for. And at the age of four, he would finally get his chance. The mission was a simple one really, low risk, high reward. All they had to do was hijack an unguarded Arcosian vessel. They had conformation that there would be none of the egg headed arocosians onboard. It was manned by a slapped together crew of minions to secure a large haul of top of the line weaponry. Weaponry which Shin Yaku’s employer wanted for themselves.
The mercenaries would wait to strike when the cargo ship was in the best location. Opting to attack when the ship was about in the middle of its route. Which happened to be the location nearest to the buyer’s meeting point. They wait until the cargo ship arrived in an asteroid belt, clinging to an asteroid with all power off to not give away their presence. They would then launch their attack as the ship drew in closer. Using the element of surprise to board before they could intensify the shield. The plan worked as drawn. Getting in as close as possible and firing a harpoon into the side of the cargo ship.
A specially design harpoon which was equipped with a barbed end that opens like a hook in order to get stuck within the hull of the ship. As the barbs hooked in, it revealed a door which connects to a tunnel large enough for a Heran to fit through. Shin Yaku gathered his men and gave them a final prep talk. Kyo Zanku took a deep breath and then nodded his readiness, he was nervous but excited at the same time. He had to be at his best so he could claim his first kill and honor his father. The rag tag band of an assortment of different alien species numbering eight in total, including Kyo Zanku and his father, would board the arcosian cargo vessel and fight their way through the sparse crew until they reached the bridge. Kyo Zanku would stick close to his father’s side, getting involved in the fight but unable to take a life. Which irritated him, taking a life was considered a rite of passage. As they approached the bridge, Shin Yaku hoped to take at least the captain alive. It would be far easier to unlock all the cargo containers that way.
The group of mercenaries emerged onto the bridge. The men there were prepared for them, having taken various defensive positions. Entrenching themselves as well as possible. The captain crouched behind a control panel, his laser pistol pointed towards the mercs. Shin Yaku would bellow out,
“You don’t have to die. Lay down your weapons and surrender”
The Litt captain would scoff and yell back, “Never, we’ll die before we betray the Arcosian Empire!”
“So be it…” Shin Yaku replies.
The arcosian henchmen stood no chance. The mercenary group slaughtered them before they could even land a shot. Shin Yaku driving his midnight blade through the captain’s feathered chest. The captain would, quite dramatically collapse onto the control panel.
“Hey, don’t damage the controls, goon” Shin Yaku complains.
The captain uses his last moments of life to hammer a code into the control panel. Which causes a female voice to state “Ship lockdown confirmed” followed by the ship powering down, floating idle in space. The lights go off, leaving the ship in perpetual darkness. But after about a minute the emergency lights come on, far dimmer than the main lights. The captain’s body would slide off the console and hit the ground hard but still managing a shallow laugh.
“The arcosian empire will get the last laugh” as he exhales his final breath.
“Well that’s a minor inconvenience” Shin Yaku sighs.
But what they didn’t know was that they were being tailed. Out in the darkness of space there was a stealth ship following closely behind the large cargo ship. A one man ship piloted by a young but very skilled Arcosian warrior named Artic. He would arrive narrowly in time, seeing the cargo ship linked to Shin Yaku’s ship.
“What fool is brash enough to board an acrosian vessel?! The pirates must be getting braver. Good thing they sent me to tail it. Hah, and here I thought this was an insultingly boring mission”
The young Arcosian thought. He ejected himself from his ship and flew through space with great haste. There was no time for delay. Having memorized the layout of the ship in preparation for the mission, he would form a ki ball and hurl it towards the hill. Explode a large enough hole for himself to enter the ship. He would choose the closest non important room near the bridge. Good thing there was a janitor room close by.
*BOOM!*
“What was that?!” One of Shin Yaku’s men called out
“Shit!” Shin Yaku responded, he knew the only thing it could be. The power level was too high. The Arcosians had a tail on the vessel, he knew that this seemed too easy.
He pointed to the handful of men that joined him, “Men, we have a breech. Go deal with whoever it is!”
He knew he was sending them to their death, as he kept his boy close to his side. He would need time to crack the lock on the ship. And hopefully these fools could buy him enough time. And in the process, give him a bigger cut of the reward. His fingers dashed across the touch screen. All while the sound of his men being slaughtered was audible down the nearby hallway. Kyo Zanku shifted nervously.
Shin Yaku turned to him, still pressing buttons while shouting, “Show no fear my son! You know you’re better than that, fear is a mind killer!”.
In response to his father’s words, Kyo Zanku’s brow would furrow, his mind would clear, and his rapid heartbeat would normalize. He was going to make his father proud! Luckily whatever spy his employer hired knew what they were doing. The override code was a match as he hit the last button and the ship revved to life. But as soon as Shin Yaku could manage a grin, he heard a shrill voice call out from behind them.
“It matters not, swines. You will soon be dead and I will pilot this ship back home myself!”
It was Artic the Arcosian, his blue lips formed the most shit eating grin.
“I’m sure I will be rewarded handsomely for saving this vessel. Maybe they'll give me a medal, haha”, he would say as he wipes the blood of Shin Yaku’s crew off his hands.
This was Kyo Zanku’s chance to make his father proud! He made a mad dash towards the Arcosian, ready to throw everything he had at him. Shin Yaku tried to grab him before he took off, but Kyo Zanku was surprisingly quick as he was moving faster than usual. Kyo Zanku pulled back his fist. Lunging forward in a striking pose, the Arcosian hadn’t even entered a stance yet! That’s fine, all the easier to deal with him, Kyo Zanku thought. But just as he threw his first punch, the Arcosian would swipe with one arm, purple ki forming around it.
He was fast! Maybe even faster than his father. The arm chopped him right across his body, he could feel his collarbone shattered under the force of the Arcosian’s edged hand. Kyo Zanku flew through the air, pin balling off the floor and the wall before settling down in a crumbled position back down on the ground. Any harder and that might have killed him. He raised his head sluggishly, barely clinging to consciousness. Shin Yaku let out a relived sigh upon seeing his son stir. He’d then take a step forward towards the Arcosian who seemed to have a surprised look on his face.
“Huh… I can’t believe I didn’t squash that little bug with one blow. You giant cockroaches are durable”
The Arcosian would let out a shrill laugh a moment before rushing Shin Yaku with such speed that the Arcosian disappeared from view. But Shin Yaku was ready, he met the Arcosian’s fist with his own.
*CLAP!*
The loud noise of the contact rattled the ship. Shin Yaku grinned, “I hate Arcosians”
He’d then headbutt the Arcosian straight to the forehead. And the true battle would commence. They’d crash into each other with incredible force, exchanging blows as the spaceship rattles. Ki blasts singe the walls and ceilings, craters form on the floor from impacts. If this goes on for much longer, the ship will be toast and the Arcosian knows that. But Shin Yaku wasn’t going down without a fight.
“Hahaha, I see that I’ll have to end this quick so that I can still bring this cargo back home”
The small Arcosian starts to grow, his body expanding and reshaping as it takes his true form. Kyo Zanku is amazed by this. He had never seen an Arcosian change before, but he had heard the stories.
“Ha. Ha. Ha. Time for you to die!” there was a bit more bass to Artic’s voice now as he started to gather energy in his outstretched finger.
Shin Yaku just grins, “You aren’t the only one who has been holding back, egghead”
He forms an X across his body and then throws his arms down with a shout. In an instant his aura bursts to life, throwing around everything that’s not tied down near him. His hair changes from orange to red as his skin immediately changes to a light shade of green. He power level jumps back up to match Artic’s, to his dismay. His face would grow even more sour as his finger blast flies through the air, only to be slapped away by Shin Yaku.
“You savage beasts need to know your place!” the battle commences.
Despite all of the pain his father is being put through, it’s plainly obvious that Shin Yaku is enjoying every moment of this. The thrill of the fight is grasping him, and he is lost in a trance. He starts to do too much damage to the ship as he blasts away a few control panels, losing sense of the mission in his battle lust. This pissed Artic off immensely, he needed to stop this or lose face by being bested by a savage. The Arcosian had a slick plan. He powered his finger beam again, putting massive amounts of his energy into it. He points in at Shin Yaku and starts to cackle.
“You savages all have your weaknesses” he’d say moments before firing the beam, but not at Shin Yaku. He would lash his arm off to the side, firing the beam at the defenseless Kyo Zanku.
Shin Yaku’s eye would bulge and he would move with great speed. He needed to protect his heir at all costs. He would fling himself in front of the deadly beam as it slices right through him, the impact of ripping through Shin Yaku’s body causing the beam to fly off course, just missing Kyo Zanku.
The Arcosian would be overtaken by smug laughter, “All according to plan!” he’d manage to say between laughs.
Now Artic had the hand up on the Heran and started pin ponging him around the ship before smashing him into the ground. Driving him deeper and deeper into the solid ground with every smash. All while still laughing manically. Each blow causing Shin Yaku’s power to waver until he reverts back to his original form. That’s when Artic rears up for one last pummel to end Shin Yaku’s life.
But something inside of Kyo Zanku snapped. A flush of rage and power filling his young trembling body. So lost in an uncontrollable rage that he can’t form words. He start screaming at the top of his lungs, in a slightly distinguishable “NO”. He throws his open palm forward and fires a huge purple ki wave towards the Arcosian. Catching everyone off guard, but more importantly catching the Arcosian at an incredible opening.
With both his arms over his head, moments before driving them down into Kyo Zanku’s father. He would have no time to defend himself as the beam connects with Artic’s chest as he stands there, trying to stand his ground for a moment before the beam bursts through his chest and out of his back. The Arcosian’s eyes would widen as he’s swept off of his feet and through the wall of the spaceship. Exploding a large section of the hull and being hurled off into space to meet his doom. The young warrior Artic was no more. But the opening to harsh space starts to suck Kyo Zanku and his father closer into the dead of space.
Barely holding on, Shin Yaku commands, “Quick! Fire up the shields!”.
Kyo Zanku ran, if it could be called that, as fast as he could to the console and started to enter in a command. His training also extended to technology comprehension. The shields activated and the vacuum of space is sealed, Shin Yaku’s battered body landing with a loud thud. Kyo Zanku would rush over to his father, grabbing onto him. To his relief his father would roll over and look up at him.
“The first life you took was an Arcosian, no less. I’m proud of you, my son” though he would say this behind hard eyes before glancing back towards the console. Kyo Zanku would only reply in a small smile.
“Set course for the Topani sector… it’s time to get paid” he grinned, his successor already proving himself.
Taking Capitol Planet Topani: Age 6
Working in the West Galaxies was a lot easier. You didn’t have to compete with Saiyan’s and Arcosians. Or those up and coming humans. Though it would be hard to believe it’s “easier” as battle cruisers explode in the orbit of the capital planet, Topani. It’s ironic, the very weapons they had delivered only years ago are now being used against them. But so is the life of a mercenary. The Heran Basilisk carrying the father and son breaks through the wave of destruction around the orbit of the crystalline pearl colored planet.
It crashes into the capitol city of Topani with such velocity. It causes great damage to the surrounding buildings, even greater than a Saiyan attack pod. Jammed into the ground, any surrounding Topani soldiers would stare at the vessel with dread. They knew deep down that it was over, the vessel ramp opened and Kyo Zanku, his father and his father’s crew spilled out. Signaling the ultimate end of this conflict. The planet is theirs now, as is the hefty reward.
Shin Yaku and his men celebrate like kings, literally. Having the Topani king tied up on the ground and the beautiful queen tied to one of the chairs at a large dining table. The Topani people are beautiful in general, possessing vibrantly colored skin. Skin that is very smooth and clear like a crystal. And many of the royal cast, like the king and queen, have actual crystals embedding in their foreheads. Whether this was a natural thing or a cultural thing, Kyo Zanku didn’t know and didn’t much care.
Shin Yaku sat at the giant throne like seat at the head of the table. His men surround him but Kyo Zanku stood off to the side away from the men and comfortably in the shadows that the lack of electricity provided. He leaned up against a large pillar and watched. The men all stuffed their faces with the kingly feast on the table before them. One of the scrappier looking men rips off a large chunk of meat off of a bone and presses his face close to the queens while chewing.
“What’s a’ matter toots, not hungry?!” he would laugh, raining spit and chewed bits of food over the terrified queen. She was securely tied to his chair, arms included. The king spoke out in a shaky voice.
“P-please don’t hurt my love! Take anything you want, just don’t hurt her, please!” he pleaded.
None of the men paid much mind to the king. Besides, they had orders not to kill the ruling family. But the young Kyo Zanku would stalk from out of the shadows and stand above the king of Topani. Looking down on him with disgust.
“Only the weak beg… And the weak do not deserve to live!” in one swift motion of his hand, the king was enveloped in a purple crescent of ki energy. The men all stared, a half-eaten piece of meat rolling out of one of their mouths. The strong willed queen quietly wept, not willing to give the barbarians a show.
Shin Yaku would holler out, “He was supposed to be taken alive, boy!”
Kyo Zanku would scoff and walk off while saying, “The weak don’t deserve to live”. A grin would creep across Shin Yaku’s face, delighted. But he would still punish Kyo Zanku for disobeying his orders.
A Short Pause: Age 13
On a foreign moon belonging to a long barren planet, Kyo Zanku sat at a makeshift campfire. He was battered and bruised, his Saiyan battle armor barely clings to him. It's ripped and torn and singed, revealing almost as much flesh as it protects. Across from him sat a rather lithe looking man of small stature. His name was Teeb, an old friend of his father's. Despite his rather small stature, it was widenly known that Teeb is incredibly strong. Because what he lacks in pure physical strength, he made up for in ki mastery. He could play a delicate game of ki balance, always rationing and monitering his ki usage. Allowing him to outlast most opponents. His own saiyan battle armor is in much better condition, sporting only an odd rip here and there and some singe marks. The brown tail wrapped around his waist and his dark spikey hair gives away his race. They both ate large chunks of red meat reminisant of a large chicken wing.
"It's good to take a break from the training... Your father has been slacking, your ki manipulation is lacking behind. Hopefully I can get you back up to where you should be."
"What do you mean?" he said as he raises his left hand starts to gather ki throughout his arm, a faint glow forming around his whole arm, "I can manipulate ki just fine"
"Sure, the physical side. But how about ki blasts?"
Kyo Zanku stopped channeling ki and his left hand dropped back down to his side with a half frown
"Exactly. I've known your father for a while now. I can definitely see how he could overlook something like this" the older Saiyan said
"I bet he's neglecting his own ki training. The man has some sort of affection to rushing head long into fist fights. I hope that isn't rubbing off on you"
"Why not?" the young Kyo Zanku quickly called out "Fighting with your fists is the greatest rush! To actually feel your opponent writhing under your blows"
Teeb shook his head with a chuckle, "That's the Heran in you, for sure. A Saiyan masters all areas of combat. That way he's never caught at a disadvantage"
Kyo Zanku thinks of that as he flings the stripped bone over his shoulder. Teeb does have a point. All you would have to do is compare their armors to see the truth. Teeb has been able to keep him at bay with his ki blasts, forcing him to use more ki blasts of his own. And that definitely showcased how much he needed to improve.
"Tell me Kyo Zanku... What drives you besides your own father's ambitions? Have you ever even thought about that?"
He glared at him hard before following up with, "What do you want most in life?"
Kyo Zanku paused for a moment, fighting is all he's ever known since birth. And he told himself that he didn't regret it at all, the rush of battle makes him feel alive.
"To crush my enemies, to dominate the galaxies, and to let my power be known!" he finally replied with. It was almost creepy how calmly he said it.
Teeb just laughed, "I'm not sure if that's the Heran or the Saiyan talking... Come on, let's continue" and with that the two were back to the grueling training.
The Prize Fights of Vankor: Age 16
Deep within the Southern Galaxies, there lied a red planet called Vankor. The world is one giant pit fight. Every day the warriors battle and the end result is usually death, sometimes for both contestants. A prize fighter battles his way from “league” to “league” each increasing in difficulty based on the pure power and craftiness of the warriors in the escalating “leagues”.
All along the way there are many prizes to be gained and many retire long before they reach the top league. The league simply named the Champion League. Kyo Zanku has been battling for six months straight on this planet, moving up the ranks and collecting prizes. His father was with him, acting as his trainer. Shouting tactics or encouragement from the sidelines.
They had been making a killing, but they were in it for the grand prize. Kyo Zanku wiped the blood that was pouring down his face from the gash in his head. His opponent’s broken alien body lies at his feet. With one stomp he delivers the victory blow, he’s made it to the final match in the Champion League. The match for the grand prize.
And he has done it in record time. The crowd of aliens go wild, cheering and chanting his name. Nobody had gotten this far in under a year before. And the second fastest was the returning champion, the very one he’s up against in the final match of the contest. Perched high up a specially made mini watchtower sits a Vankor priest dressed in black and red robes. The Vankor people were human like with large bulbous craniums, black pupil less eyes and pale skin that seemed almost green. As the priest stands, he waves his alien hands in an elaborate pattern over Kyo Zanku. As he does, Kyo Zanku’s wounds start to heal and his energy starts to return. The priest would then sit back down on his throne as Kyo Zanku marches up to his father who greets him with a grin and a slap on the back. The final match would start soon.
The festivities begin. The match is being held in the largest coliseum on the planet. Larger than anything that would be found on Earth. There are gigantic screens suspended in the air, seemingly self-propelled. These screens are the only way the beings all the way at top could watch the fight. The “ring” itself is just a wide open dirt field.
When the fight ceremonies commenced, a force field will activate over the battle. Limiting how high the warriors can fly, but still providing ample amounts of space. The force field is mainly used to protect the audience and the big hovering screens. As well as allowing limited space for a fighter to run, if so desperate. The king of Vankor stood in his press box delivering a speech in a language Kyo Zanku did not understand.
But it must be a good speech, because it stirred the crowd into a frenzy. Eventually the king gets to calling out fighters, bellowing out Kyo Zanku’s full name, to his dismay, followed by more clicks and chitters that Kyo Zanku couldn’t understand. The crowd is getting so rowdy that the ground shakes beneath his feet. The many different types of aliens in attendance chanting out his name.
However the king quieted down the crowd and then commanded out his opponent. The crowd erupted just as loud, maybe even more so. Kyo Zanku had gone into this pretty blind, only knowing of the prize. He had no clue what the defending champion look liked until the veteran pit fighter emerged from the entrance opposite Kyo Zanku’s own.
Out of the entrance squeezed a hulking black mass, almost too large to fit down the tunnel. The creature seemed more beast than man, standing at least ten feet tall. The body of the beast was black, gray, and at its lightest, a dark navy blue. It had pieces of black exoskeleton covering its chest, shoulders, knees and skull. Speaking of its skull, it had two long horn type protrusions. Though it looked a bit more like a beetle’s horns than a bull’s. It had at least three rows of sharp teeth inside of its mouth to go along with a pair of blood red eyes. If Kyo Zanku’s ego didn’t keep him from expressing it, he would agree that the intimidation factor is high. The monster flashed its toothy smile while slapping its long tail against the turf. It was hard to say how sentient the beast was behind those red eyes. But regardless, it clearly knows how to fight.
“Well, well… The bigger they are, the harder they fall” he’d snarl while standing about ten yards away. His arms crossed against his chest with a bored look on his face.
The king wraps up his speech and takes a seat back on his elaborate metal throne. The countdown begins, being displayed on the massive hover screens. The crowd counts down along with the display. It was in the same strange language but Kyo Zanku knew the procedure by now and was ready to fight at the final count.
He charged forward at the beast, driving his fist forward and into the beast’s chest. His fist met with stinging pain as it connected with the black exoskeleton on its chest. The beast stood there, unmoved as it raises its arm and drives its claws downward. As it does ki starts to form around its talons. Kyo Zanku quickly dodged, luckily he seemed to be faster than the big beast. It seems like he would have to be a bit more clever with his offense to inflict damage to the titan.
He closed in, deciding to strike at its pressure points next. It was still humanoid, which meant that it had to have pressure points. He dashes in quickly, pointing his hands like two cobras ready to strike. He stomped down hard with his heel on the top of the beast’s foot, targeting the pressure point that lies just a couple inches below the ankle. He would the work his way up, twirling in a snake like dance. A lightning fast strike to the peroneal nerve near the thigh would start things off.
Even where the beast had no exoskeleton, its flesh was still hard and callus. But he wouldn’t let this stop him, quickly working his way up. He would strike the ulnar nerve, radial nerve and brachial plexus as he made his way up the beast’s right arm. He would have to jump up as he worked his way up the beast’s arm. As he neared the peak of his jump he would finish his rapid combo with a strike to the jugular notch in the throat.
As the blow lands in the throat of the beast its head rolls backwards. Thinking that his strikes are landing true, Kyo Zanku goes in for a finishing strike while still in midair. Mustering up a spinning kick, hoping to dig his heel into the monster’s temple. But somethings not right, but he realizes it too late. A large amount of energy was gathering in the beast’s throat! It whips its head forwards, unleashing a beam of pure energy which collides with Kyo Zanku’s chest. Sending him upwards and clashing with the barrier in the sky before he falls back down to the clay turf, his body limp. The crowd falls silent…
But then it goes back into an uproar as Kyo Zanku makes his way back up to his feet. That mouth blast sure as hell hurt. It blasted the shirt right off of his body. If he’s hit with another one, he might not be able to continue. He’ll have to be careful, especially since the beast is barreling straight at him. His strikes did absolutely nothing. He just can’t pierce the beast’s damned hide. He might have wished that weapons were allowed if he wasn’t so sure that it just wouldn’t matter. Even his father’s blade might struggle to pierce its flesh. He would have to be careful, feel his opponent out.
They would clash repeatedly. Kyo Zanku would try his best to dodge, managing to avoid another two mouth blasts. However he would be left with a clawed chest and back. He would get the odd strike in here or there, hoping to find a weak spot. But there just didn’t seem to be one, even on its back. Kyo Zanku knew what he had to do, he didn’t like the idea, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
He would jump up to attack the beast, hurling himself through the air. Creating the perfect opening to be blasted out of the air by the beast’s mouth beam. When the black beast opened its mouth to shoot out what would surely be a death ray, Kyo Zanku would blast forward. Propelling himself rapidly through the air with his ki. As he was right on the beast he would shift that ki to harden the skin and bone of his left arm as he thrusts it into the beast’s gaping maw. The surprise of his fist down its throat causes it to stop its mouth blast and instinctively chop down on Kyo Zanku’s hardened arm.
“Eat this!” he cries out. Shifting all the ki charged in his skin and bones to the center of his palm, eventually discharging it in a ki blast wave that obliterates the beast’s insides.
*BANG*
That put it down for good. It hit the ground, taking Kyo Zanku down with it. As he hit the ground he used his momentum to roll back up to his feet, looking back at the motionless beast. The crowd is awe struck, completely silent. He didn't know if anyone had ever tried that before, maybe they weren't dumb enough.
And then all at once it explodes into an uproar as his victory is announced. His face is displayed live on all the jumbo hover screens with words that he assumes could only be announcing his record breaking victory. He heads back to his father after one last heal from the Vankor priest.
“Good job. Now let’s claim that prize and leave this shithole” Shin Yaku would throw his arm around his son as they walk down the hallway.
Later that night they would hold a whole ceremony to honor his victory. Wrapping a medal around his neck and presenting the grand prize to him as he stands atop an eldritch podium.
Double Crossed: Age 18
At this point Kyo Zanku still did not know his true origin, not fully. He knew he was different, unique. And he did know that he was half Saiyan. But he had no clue who his mother was. He learned a long time ago not to ask after receiving a thrashing from his father. He also had no inclination that he was some sort of science experiment. Or to be more accurate, an ultimate weapon. But regardless, the young mercenary had little time to think about such things and truth be told, he didn’t care much. He had his father, and that’s all he ever knew. All he ever HAD to know. That is… until today.
Another successful job, another planet in the hands of an employer. It was no piece of cake, the natives were ferocious. Their savagery harkening back to the golden age of Saiyans. Which is probably why they were hired to take care of them. Regardless, Kyo Zanku and his father sat in the docking bay of their employer’s warship. Refueling and doing maintenance of their ships while the rest of the crew were hogging the rejuvenating chambers. Kyo Zanku and Shin Yaku were battered and bruised too. But they were in better condition than the rest of the crew. Besides, they wore their battered and bruised bodies as a badge of honor and relished in the pain. It made them feel alive. They were passing very close to this system’s sun. The large red sun was visible through the force field that closed the docking bay. But things were unusually quiet. The bustling of soldiers and mechanics entirely disappeared. Shin Yaku was no stranger to a double cross, so he was always on his toes. Money can make anyone do funny things.
Today would be one of those days, as a massive ki blast explodes the ship that the father and son were working on. It moved far too fast for the pair to react with their damaged bodies. The force of the blast sends the two flying. Kyo Zanku smashes into another nearby spaceship, disappearing inside the hull. Shin Yaku, however, manages to catch his footing. Sliding on his heels, digging them into the marble colored flooring in order to stop his momentum.
A man approached, his boots clacking against the floor as he made his way deeper into the hangar bay and towards Shin Yaku. The man was large in his own right, having a similar build to his father. Except standing at only six and a half feet tall. He wore an outfit fitting only for a merc. And the symbol his his left breast confirmed it. It was the symbol for one of the largest criminal groups around, The Black Sun. He had a completely bald head, except for directly in the back where he had a long braid that ran past his shoulders. His skin was a burnt red and his toothy smile revealed his fangs. Orc-like might be a fitting description for the man.
“It’s time to pay the debt, Shin Yaku” the man wore a huge smirk.
“It’s just Yaku to you, peasant”
"Father, what is he talking about?" Kyo Zanku called out in confusion.
The man’s smirk fades, “Don't make this any harder than it should be...”
“You know that Riley wants the boy”
“Shit! I didn't have enough time..." Shin Yaku thought before continuing,
“Over my dead body”
The man frowns, knowing not to underestimate Herans, “Very well…”
At this point Kyo Zanku would burst from the cockpit of the ship and back into the action. Flying through the air and gliding to his feet across from his father, opposite of the henchman. Shin Yaku starts to power up, creating a strong gust of wind as his fiery red aura starts flickering. Kyo Zanku would follow his father's lead. But they soon hit their cap and the auras dissipate. Shin Yaku is too worn out to reach his True Heran form. But with Kyo Zanku’s help they still stand a chance.
The battle would commence, the two Heran warriors on even footing with the goon. Arms and legs dashing in the air with such speed that they seem to multiply. Although Kyo Zanku is the weakest of the three, he’s landed the most hits and meaningful ones at that. His martial technique is proving to be the deciding factor in the fight. Knowing how and where to strike the henchman in order to stun and create openings for his father to get the heavy hits in. And soon enough, the henchman was just as battered as the two Herans.
The henchman manages to speak between strikes, “His blind allegiance to you… you still haven’t told him huh? You haven’t told him that he’s a sick science experiment” the man bellows in laughter.
This causes Kyo Zanku’s constant flow of precise attacks to halter. He tries to recover as if he didn’t stutter, but it’s too late. As if being struck with inspiration the henchman makes his move, catching Kyo Zanku in the side with a ki blast from his left hand and then snatched Shin Yaku. His arm wrapping around his neck, pointing two energy encases fingers to Shin Yaku’s temple. His hand making the form of a gun, two finger out and thumb up in the air.
Kyo Zanku looks on deserately, unsure of how to react to what he said and the current situation.
"Now Kyo Zanku... walk, and walk SLOWLY, down the hall to the detention center"
Shin Yaku frowned, he knew he had to do something
"Now we're going t-"
"RUN!" Shin Yaku shouted
And in one swift motion Shin Yaku grabs his arm and twists his wrist, pointing it into his chest. Forcing the man to fire the charged shot by reflex. The black beam pierced straight through Shin Yaku and the man himself. And it kept traveling behind the pair, getting wider as it kept on going. It tore through the whole ship, eventually exploding in the bow of the warship. The explosion caused the whole ship to stir and start to power down, drifting slowly into the sun. Kyo Zanku was flung around like a pin ball in the midst of all the explosions. He tried his hardest but lost track of his father. All he could do was call out to him as he made his way to his feet.
"Father!" he continues to call out.
But the ship was falling apart and things were starting to get sucked out through the fissures in the ship's hull. If he doesn't leave now... there's no telling if the spaceships will still be in the hangar bay. He was stuck in place, he couldn't just leave his father. But he also didn't want to die. And that's when his father's words called out again in his mind, "RUN!". So he chose to abide by his father's final word. He boarded his basilisk ship, which was already severely damaged from the previous mission. It will be a miracle if he can make it far in this thing. But he fires up the engines and blasts out of the hangar bay, skidding against the ground the whole way.
Welcome to Earth: Now
The Earth, newly saved from the damage caused from the Saiyan’s by the Dragon Balls, would be receiving a brand new Saiyan visitor. Though this time it was a half Saiyan, half Heran conqueror. Would he completely follow his father’s footsteps, and for that matter his mother’s, striking fear in the hearts of these Earthlings? Or would he make his own way in the universe, follow his own footsteps. Maybe a more peaceful path.
It may be too early to tell as the dilapidated Basilisk breaks orbit and hurtles towards earth at rapid speed. It crashes in a dazzling explosion of light and fire against the porcelain white of the surrounding snow. Lighting up the night sky from miles around. The craft would lay there in a heap, ruined even more so. Lying still in its newly formed crater. It would lay like this for a few hours until a figure leers over the edge of the crater…
Kyo Zanku springs up as if from a bad dream. Surprisingly, he is alive. And even more surprising is that he seems to be in a cabin of sorts. Small and homey, yet very very cozy. He’s been tended to as well, his wounds bandaged. His torso almost completely covered in the white bandages. His forehead and sections of his arms and legs are wrapped up as well. A strong savory smell lingers in the air and Kyo Zanku follows the invisible trail with his eyes.
He finds a cooking kettle over an open fire. Cooking what could presumably only be a stew of some kind. Judging from smell alone. Then all of a sudden, Kyo Zanku’s spidey sense kicks in, mere nano seconds before the wooden door of the cabin is thrusts open. He moves to prepare himself but winces in pain, “Damn!” he curses. But to his surprise, a pretty young girl stands in the door way. Bundled up in layers of heavy clothing, making only her face clearly visible.
“Ah! You’re finally awake” she says in a sweet and innocent voice, “You’ve been out for a couple of days”. A couple of days… Kyo Zanku thought. “Tell me girl, where am I?” he commands. “You’re in the north, about 136 miles from Jingle Village”. “No, which planet?” he barks with a shake of his head. “Oh, right… Earth, you’re on Earth” she starts to look a little nervous and then follows up, “Are you a Saiyan? I’ve never seen one before but pa told me about how much trouble they’ve been causing”.
“You could say that…” Kyo Zanku retorts. The girl looks nervous but then smiles, “Well, for now you’re in my care, Mr. Saiyan. My name is Kerai”. Kyo Zanku flops back down on the bed with an irritated sigh. “By the way, my pa, he was the one that found you and brought you home. He tended to your wounds. He said you were mighty lucky to be alive after a crash like that”. Having closed the door and stepped closer to the fire, she starts removing layers of clothes until she’s in a more regular outfit.
And this is when Kyo Zanku gets his first good look at her. She was very petite, standing on long legs, well long for her average height. She wore a long dress with a floral design adorning it. Her porcelain white skin turned red from the cold. She wore her hair in pigtails, giving her an even more youthful image, despite being close to Kyo Zanku’s age. Her face, while pretty, carried a fair share of innocence. Kyo Zanku catches himself looking a bit too hard and quickly glances away.
Kerai carefully tiptoed her way to Kyo Zanku, reaching the bowl out towards him. He would glare at it and then her for a moment. His stomach would cry out in hunger. Kerai would give him a knowing smile. He’d grab it from her and start to scoff it down. Kerai would flash a satisfied smile. She’s lucky this stew is so good, he’d think.
“You can call me Zanku”. Only respected warriors and figures of power were allowed to use both of his names, o she would only get the one.
“Zanku… such a cool name” she beams. He would pay the compliment no mind as he continued to feed. He’d quickly finish the bowl and start to undress his wounds. Kerai would reach her hand out to stop him, an alarmed look crossing her face.
But one intimidating glare from Kyo Zanku would freeze her in place. He drops the last of his bandages to the ground and to Kerai’s amazement, his once grievous wounds are almost completely healed. She’d stare, mouth agape, “Whoa…”. That is until Kyo Zanku stood up, completely naked and with no shame to be found. After all, he was raised in a warrior culture. Kerai would turn beet red and swiftly turn around.
“D-don’t just stand up naked like that! Oh man… You can wear my dad’s clothes until you can get your own. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind…. They’re in the dresser right there” she points without turning around. He wouldn’t argue, getting dressed in the man’s clothes. They were heavy winter clothing in earth tones.
These clothes would do until he could get back to his ship. Kyo Zanku would head towards the door and open it, causing Kerai to turn around in surprise. “Where are you going Zanku?” she’d ask, shocked.
Kyo Zanku would state without turning around, “Your help has not been unappreciated, you will die last”. And then he would blast off, taking to the sky and leaving the country girl looking on in amazement.
He would search for his basilisk craft. It wouldn’t take long, he crashed just a couple of miles away. And soon enough, he found the crash site. He knew as soon as he approached that the spaceship would no longer be of any use to him. But he still headed inside. For inside there was another his battle armor, which he would quickly adorn.
Leaving the earth toned rags to rot in the snow covered crater next to his former ship. The armor itself was made out of a specially reinforced metal. It wouldn’t break easily but it did slow his movements just a bit. But the protection and intimidation factor were well worth it in his mind. He would snatch his father’s sword, strapping it on his back where it belongs. He was happy to see it still in his possession. He’d step out of the ship and stand in the ankle deep snow. Looking out over the horizon, he wondered what his next move would be. He had to figure out just what debt his father owed. And just who was this "Riley"?
