Sadal, the homeworld of the Saiyans. They were well renowned for their valiant efforts as freedom fighters. They fought against tyranny no matter where it happened. At least, that what everyone said they did. Demalia wanted to determine that for herself.
The Tuffle Hybrid had come in without using her cloaking device. There was no reason for her to come in stealthily, especially since she wanted others to know that she was there. Once she had touched down on planet, she exited the ship cautiously, looking around at her surroundings.
<This planet is a nice one to live on. I’ll do a climate analysis later, but right now I have more important things to focus on.>
Demalia slipped on her scouter, activating it as she walked through the streets of the Saiyan city. On average the Saiyans were fairly stronger than Tuffles: these readings supported that. Demalia wasn't going to let her guard down. If she encountered a Saiyan like the one that showed up at her mansion, she would be ready for it.

Rutaba would yawn as he made his way through the city streets, relaxing into his daily routine of wandering around just making sure nobody was causing any trouble. This of course was all ended when he sensed a power level of notable size break into the atmosphere, touching down nearby as he would just begin to head towards it. He couldn't say personally that the power level was familiar to him, so it just made him curious for the time being. As usual, the Saiyan Peacekeeper wanted to make sure that nobody was coming to his planet to stir up trouble, and while that was usually not the case, he never knew when something like that would arise. Besides, even if this person wasn't there to cause trouble, new acquaintances could never hurt, right?
With that in mind, he'd take off and begin flying, moving towards the power at a decent speed, keeping himself lower to the ground, just a bit above average walking height so that he would be easily seen. As he approached them, he'd take note of what they looked like, the person certainly didn't seem too intimidating just off of looks, but he also knew that looks weren't everything. With that in mind, the Saiyan Peacekeeper would land in front of them, giving off a smile as he would stare towards them. "Apologies if I bother you... I take it upon myself to meet new faces who arrive on this planet, and I can't say we have met before. If I may introduce myself, my name is Rutaba, a Saiyan of the Sadal Defense Force." he would give a polite bow, trying to give off a friendly first meeting to this person, he wanted to give people the benefit of the doubt until they turned bad, rather than the other way around.
"I'd like to welcome you to Sadal, may I ask what your business is here? Perhaps I could help show you around?" he would ask a bit out of curiosity and a bit out of business habit as well. People who had to lie about their business would usually come up with something a little too fast and a little too rehearsed, that or they would just stumble around constantly looking for an answer but that could just be a timid person. He wanted to know what kind of person this was before he got into anything else, and a cookie cutter question like this one is a good enough starting point. [Rutaba PL: 6,152]
She was starting to grow used to this world. Every morning as of late she had been paying her own visits quite frequently to the markets of this world. Her activities simply ranging from collecting the fresh fruits in the market in the morning to the very hauls of the fish. This type of bustling activity was so unusual compared to where she came from and quite frankly it was possibly one of the best feelings to come as of yet. The different foods here as well were quite spectacular in their own unique ways. She at least knew the next time where she was going to go if she wanted some fine phicken meat sandwich. Fast and easy it seemed, frankly she had quite enjoyed it to say the very least. If there was one complain she had to have however…it was the serving sizes of these meals. These saiyans sure seemed quite happy with these large portions and from her own experiences…they had the appetite to prove it even for certain.
However, on this delightful morning, she couldn’t help but notice the sound of one peculiar familiar voice. Could that possibly be Rutaba once more? She did wonder how they were doing. After the amount of times the two had grown to meet each other, she was starting to push more and more into calling the Saiyan a friend in a sense. A quick focus under the closed eyelids of hers told her all that was needed for now. He was with someone…someone quite strong indeed. In fact, quite possibly one of the strongest she had met yet. Quite…peculiar indeed…a warrior this strong was considered an oddity and even then…it was possible this one could be strong enough to push herself to use more of her own power like she had against Rutaba that one night. Either way, she was going to have to keep her own special eye on things. Quite frankly whatever it turned out to be…her own interest was peaked. As the albino jackal walked casually over, her red eyes looking at the two, she would attempt to project her own thoughts in greeting. “Rutaba! I see you’ve made a friend! With how many ladies you keep meeting however I worry your going to go bankrupt buying drinks for em all.” She would tease her friend ever so slightly with her telepathy, broadcasting it even to the stranger that was there. However, the tuffle there was a rather interesting sight. While she did have her own plans to visit their world soon, she didn’t like the idea of being an unknown creature in the eyes of a bunch of scientist. It was why she chose to not reveal her racial name yet to most. Call it a tinge of mystery, but…she liked her privacy.

Demalia’s scouter picked up one… no two fairly strong powers heading in her direction. She didn’t expect to become the interest of the inhabitants of this planet right off the bat like this. Soon, a Saiyan appeared to greet her, introducing himself as a member of the Sadal Defense Force. She looked up the young Saiyan. Like most people, he dwarfed her despite being what most people would consider big. Demalia extended her arm, giving the Saiyan a small smile as she held out her hand for the Saiyan to shake.
“If you greet all newcomers like this, then I’ll give a 5 in service. I’m Demalia from Planet Plant. It’s a pleasure to meet you Rutaba. You’re just the person that I wanted to meet with.”
Regardless of whether or not Rutaba shook her hand, the second power on Demalia’s scouter showed up. Demalia had never seen a creature like this one before, not even in school or on the internet. Surprisingly they weren’t much taller than she was, although that was far from the strangest thing about them. They appeared to be a more animalistic race like the Canidites, although they probably didn’t share anything in common with them other than that though. Their clothes were also strange: it seemed to be a style unique to them. Demalia was instantly intrigued to know more about them.
Then to her shock, she heard the being talk in her mind. Demalia’s eyes widened, her hand trembling slightly as she thought back to the Kais she had encountered. Did this mean this individual could read her mind? She was going to have to be careful about what she thought about from now on. Her eyes shifted to the side as she reached out and brushed part of her braided hair. It was one of a few habits that she did whenever she was nervous.
“Um, I’m too young to drink, so he doesn’t have to do that for me. Tuffles like myself wouldn’t be able to handle the alcohol of other species that well regardless. We are smaller and weigh less than most other individuals, so our BAC rises at a higher rate. I’m Demalia, what’s your name?”
Demalia would hold her hand out for this individual to shake as well. Whether or not they decided to return the gesture, Demalia turned her attention back to Rutaba. She was curious as to what the unknown species was, but her curiosity on that matter had to take a backseat to the matter at hand.
“I came here for several reasons, actually. The first and most important reason is a serious matter, unfortunately. It concerns your race, actually. I came here to find out information on a strange Saiyan who visited me with a weird request. Given the nature of that request, I decided it would be best to inform the SDF directly. Still, seeing the sights sounds nice. I’d be happy to talk to you while you show me around.”
The Tuffle hybrid wished this meeting could of happened under better circumstances. Both of them seemed nice enough, especially the Saiyan. It was nice to see that the majority of people she encountered were nice, even though a few aliens had either tried to kill her or threaten people around her. For the moment though, it seemed like the Sadal Defense Force was living up to its reputation. Demalia could feel herself relaxing a little bit. That Saiyan who visited her must have been an abnormality.
The Saiyan would look down at the girl's hand as she extended it, smiling softly as he would take her hand and shake it. It seemed nice enough as a first greeting, nothing too intense or anything. This was the sort of calm interaction he was used to at this point. "Well, I try to make a habit of it, some people fly under the radar but I do my best. Thank you." he would give a small wink as she talked about the service he was giving. To be honest, he only made a note to do it when he saw a new face, as he had stumbled upon many people that were used to the planet already and he still greeted this way. Nonetheless, it was something he enjoyed doing.
"Planet Plant huh? I don't think I've met anyone from there before, despite how well known it is." the Saiyan had always wanted to go on a mission that would take him near that planet, it sounded like a nice place to go and take some time off, but his duties had him posted on the planet most of the time, it was a rare occasion to leave it. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you too Demalia. I am glad that I came to see you then, this makes things a lot easier for you." his eyes would move towards a familiar power signature approaching them. He and Rosé had quite a few run-ins together so this was hardly a surprising turn of events, Rutaba would just turn towards the white jackal and raise his hand in a waving gesture.
Though, before he even got a word out, Rosé said something that called back to his time in the restaurant with the Jackal. "H-Hey now, it's not like I try to do this." his face showed a mark of embarrassment as he spoke to the jackal, it wasn't something he thought about but he really was constantly running into female after female. "B-But now that you mention it, I have run into a bunch of girls lately..." he would rub the back of his head in thought, he didn't want to think on it much more as just admitting to that fact might make it sound like he had ulterior motives in meeting this girl from planet plant. Either way, he would look down at the girl who was speaking now. "I don't think she means alcohol... she had me buy her something softer before, so don't worry about that. But I won't get you anything if you don't want me too." he would chuckle softly after sating that. It was weird how he always got into these sorts of situations.
Nonetheless, he would stare at Demalia as she turned her attention back to him. He listened to her as his face dropped his usual happy outlook to a more regretful look. "I see, I am sorry that one of us bothered you with something that would require you to come here for it. We can't keep track of everyone, so I hope that whoever this Saiyan was, their actions don't put a bad reputation on my race." he would give another bow, he wasn't sad or anything, quite the opposite actually. He was glad that this girl trusted the SDF enough to come to them with this information. It showed that he was apart of something greater. "I'd love to take care of this for you though. Out of the many sights you can see, why don't I show you the Defense Force Headquarters first? I can get that all sorted out while we are there. In fact, if this Saiyan provokes enough trouble it will most likely become a mission, and I'd love to take care of it myself. I've always wanted to visit Planet Plant. Now, why don't you tell me more about this Saiyan while we head there." he would motion for both Demalia and Rosé to follow him, as he was unsure if the latter had been to his headquarters either. It would be nice to show both of them around, show them both what the Defense Force was truly about.
It seemed that he was getting to know quite a lot of people, he just hoped that he'd be able to help them all in the end at some point. He never wanted to let anybody down.
On normal days like these, it could sometimes seemingly be a delight when all were enjoying themselves. It was these kinds of days that one could only wish there could be more of at times. It was these kinds of days that everything could maybe feel at peace without the worry of something blowing up or of any responsibilities having to hold in place. That was how Rosé felt of today and maybe this was the reason she had felt so happy overall in the first place. Could one really be so disappointed at such even? Her head however would turn to listen to the tuffle first, listening to their own words as well. Once they had begun to direct them towards herself, her own thoughts couldn’t help but drown out. ‘Interesting little one with such a large power, impressive indeed, though my own curiosities can’t help but wonder what pushed this one to reach such strength?’, her thoughts would be kept to herself as she would let her friend interject as well. ‘That Rutaba, so innocent, yet such a gentleman, I can’t let him do all the explaining at the very least.’, she would think to herself with the very smirk pulling upon her face.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t mean alcohol or anything like that, Sadal has a fresh assortment of drinks and even a fresh market. I personally prefer the Coffee from the restaurant me and Rutaba met at,” she would say with her telepathy once more only to continue to a finish, “I do apologize if my form of communication sounds…off…I personally am not the best in public places and at time can be quite shy when it comes to speaking with my voice.” Hopefully her explanation would pull through to the newcomer before any questions would be raised on why she wasn’t speaking. She already held a rough idea that this kind of question would be likely after her own name otherwise. “My name? My well is Rosé, a pleasure to meet you miss Demalia.”, her thoughts would ring out once more with telepathy as she turned to listen to Rutaba more on what his plans here were. The Sadal Defense Force Headquarters? It didn’t sound like the worst idea to go, after all she was meaning to see some newer places she hadn’t missed so far yet from her time here so far. All she would give to acknowledge Rutaba however for an answer, was but a simple nod yes.
As she shook the hand of the Saiyan, Demalia decided that she liked this person. Although she was a bit confused when he winked at her. A wink could mean a few things, so she didn't know what this one meant. She withdrew her hand, nodding as Rutaba mentioned that he hadn’t met anyone from her homeworld yet.
“I’m sure your comrades cover the ones you miss. Which doesn't seem to be that many, consider how good at it you appear to be. Also it doesn't surprise me that you haven't met anyone from Plant. We usually keep to ourselves, and just do the bare minimum that's required when it comes to interactions with other species. Most of that revolves around selling our inventions to others. You’ll probably have to travel to Plant to meet someone from there other than me.”
Demalia was glad that Rutaba had been the one to meet up with her. It looked as though her time on Sadal was going to be nice. Although things got a little awkward when Rutaba admitted that he had encountered a lot of females recently. Demalia pressed her fingers together, getting noticeably nervous.
“A softer drink does sound nice. Um, have all the people you met recently been girls? I’m not implying anything. It’s just… um… interesting…”
Demalia looked away from Rutaba, a tinge of pink appearing on her face. It seemed like Rutaba wasn't the only embarrassed by how the conversation had turned out. Was he trying to hit on her? He had given her a wink earlier: was that what he was trying to convey? Demalia gave him the benefit of the doubt, since he seemed to be rather embarrassed about it as well.
Demalia turned to look over at the unknown alien, who had introduced herself as Rose. The Tuffle hybrid decided it was a good idea to shift her attention to her for the moment. She was still a bit embarrassed, and figured that it would be best to talk to Rutaba again once she had calmed down slightly.
“I can relate to being shy, so I'm not offended that you're using telepathic. It just caught me off guard, since I didn't expect to encounter someone else with that ability so soon after the last on. Is it something that all of your race can do, or is unique to you? Oh! Sorry! It’s nice to meet you too Rose.”
Demalia tended to get carried away when she was trying to get new information she didn't have before. Still, that interaction had gone alright enough. The Tuffle scientist walked beside the both of them, turning her head to look at Rutaba again. The awkward situation now hopefully past, she elaborated on what she encountered.
“The Saiyan himself was an unpleasant person. Although he wasn't bad enough to warrant me coming out where though. He had a strong hatred for other Saiyans. He came to my door one day, wanting to test out a new power he had acquired on me in a fight. I managed to talk him out of it and I got to analyze what he had. That “power” is the reason I came out here. Although calling it a power booster Is inaccurate. I don't think he realized what he had obtained.”
Demalia still couldn't believe how brash that Saiyan had been. He clearly loved fighting so much that he was willing to inject something unknown into his system to get more power. He probably thought that it was just something that gave out more power. It was much more sinister than that though.
“I analyzed what he had and crossed referenced it with other known substances that had the same properties. That Saiyan had somehow gotten his hands on a Zenom Injector. It’s a virus that alters the DNA of anyone it's injected to. It’s exact effects would take awhile to explain, but essentially it makes the individual stronger, at the cost of being unable to feel emotion or pain. It has one sole purpose: to weaponize anyone infected with it.”
Demalia looked down at the ground, a worried expression on her face as she thought back to that incident. That had been the most tolerable of the recent series of awful things to transpire in her life. Although this one had the potential to become far worse than what she had gone through.
“I came here seeing if I could find any leads on this Saiyan, and where he got the Zenom Injector from. Whether he stole it or bought it on some kind of black market, someone is manufacturing a very dangerous substance. It was banned on Planet Plant because it got categorized as a biological weapon. If it's being mass produced and sold, then people are going to suffer if just one is used.”
Demalia looked over at Rutaba, her solemn expression conveying just how worried she was about the situation. She didn’t want other people to suffer at the hands of those who would use a biological weapon to further their own gains.
The Saiyan couldn't exactly IGNORE the question he had been asked, but he couldn't help but clench his teeth as he thought over what exactly was going on with him at the time. "Weeeell... n-not exactly. I met an... eccentric fellow. And an Android boy... b-but the majority have been female, yes." he would cough into his fist a little bit, he felt really strange talking about this. He was on duty after all... this was an odd topic to be throwing out in the first place. But, it couldn't hurt to relax a little bit here and there, there was nothing too major going on to draw his attention elsewhere for the time being. "But, don't take that in a weird way. It's all out of coincidence mind you. My outlook on other girls has been pretty casual... as of late..." as he got to the end of talking, his tone would drop a little bit. All he could think about was his old squad... if he ever got close to being attracted to any girls, it was the two from his squad. He didn't bug either of them with a relationship in the time they were around, but just the thought crossing his mind put a small strike into his mood.
"Maybe one day that will change but, sorry for making this awkward for even talking on such a topic, my apologies." he would give a respectful bow to the Tuffle, trying his best to clear up any awkward tension that may have been hanging in the air. He really didn't want to push his emotional baggage on those he was meant to be helping, that defeated the purpose of his job, but either way, Rutaba would smile to Rosé, giving a brief and content nod to realize they were going to get on their way easy enough. After that, he would remain fairly quiet, watching as the Jackal and Tuffle interacted. He would smile softly to himself, they seemed to get along pretty well and he was happy to see that. Conflict was a terrible thing to be thrust into, so the little moments like these were quite good to cherish. His demeanor was now pretty formal as the Tuffle spoke to him once more, his interest peaked as he tried to go over the information she was giving through his head.
"Strong hatred for other Saiyans, huh? I am glad that you were able to talk him out of the fight though, as a Saiyan I would understand if he would get a little... excessive in combat. As much as I hate the idea, combat runs through our veins, we are made for battle from birth. But as you can see with the defense force, a good deal of us learn to use that combat lust for heroic acts rather than destructive." he would move his sight away from Demalia to keep looking forward as he walked towards the SDF HQ. Rutaba did his best to think over what to say next, listening to what the Tuffle said next with great intent to add to what exactly he wanted to talk about. Honestly, the whole ordeal sounded serious, he was glad that nobody seemed to get too hurt by it.
But, hearing the effects of the virus, Rutaba would blink and look up to the sky. It really did seem outrageous to get one's hands on. Perfect for a renegade type, however. "That Zenom stuff sounds like one hell of a drug. Those downsides sound negligible for someone who has no desire for such things. And a lust for power can be a strong drug on its own. Weaponizing others, on the other head, sounds perfect for a group who desires tools that can be disposed of without worry." a bit of his mind swept over to the various gangs and mafia-like organizations that must be out in the universe, any one of them could be to blame for developing such a virus, and pinning it on any would be rough without proof. The Peacekeeper would look back at the Tuffle, the way she looked down, and the expression on her face to boot, this obviously wasn't something to take lightly.
He would listen to the rest of what she had to say before continuing on himself. "I'll do whatever I can to look into this Saiyan, and this Virus if possible. I wouldn't doubt a black market dealer selling something like that underhandedly. If he bought that injector, I wouldn't doubt if it was advertised without all of the side effects. And if just one being used is enough to cause a lot of trouble, that means that if even one is floating around on a market somewhere, there is enough cause for concern... But don't worry, we'll do everything in our power to stop it from happening again." the Saiyan would smile back softly at the Tuffle, her expression really gave it all away, this was a mess that needed to be cleaned up badly. But his own smile was, at its best, just trying to be reassuring, he didn't want her to be distraught by it all for too much longer. It was his job to supply relief to problems across the universe, even if it meant trying to relieve mental stresses as well.
His vision would then drift to Rosé, he may as well use what he could in the immediate area before he got ahold of anything else. "What about you Rosé? Do you know anything about this Zenom Injector stuff? It sounds pretty dangerous, so anything we know as a collective would help a lot." he would smile at his friend softly. He hoped that posing this question wasn't asking too much from the Jackal, he didn't want to step over boundaries at all with those he would consider allies and friends. But, really, he just had to check every source he could, and friends were the most trustworthy source as long as they had no reason to be hiding anything. "Maybe we can make you a new member of the Defense Force if you prove useful to such a big case, I'm sure nobody would mind such a strong individual being around." his smile would turn into a smirk as he tried to tease the jackal. Afterall, she had been interested in the Defense Force in their first meeting together, so it wasn't like it was outlandish to think of her joining it some day.
The Saiyan Peacekeeper's focus on that would then break as he would focus on walking towards the SDF HQ building once again, not stopping until he would open up the entrance, holding it open for both of the women to go into the main lobby. This was the second time he was with someone who needed help in this lobby within the last month. It was probably going to become a habit, but it was a good habit, it meant that he was doing his job right. "Now that we are here... Demalia, what can you tell me about this Saiyan? Aside from the stuff you already brought up about the Zenom Injector and their behavior, is there anything we should know about him to be able to track him down?" his question was firm for now, he needed these details before any other. Without it, he would be looking over a sea of every Saiyan alive... and that was an intimidating sea to look through.
This meeting between the three was something one could easily call as a nicety. It was a pleasure yes having others to talk to, but frankly she felt more comfortable if she could pass her own limits of speaking in more than just one on one conversations. Well minus that one situation, but to be fair in all parts. That was just stress that had caused her to speak, so she couldn’t really count that one for anything. ‘Still, the both of them seem like nice people, I already spoke alone with Rutaba. No, maybe another time I can try to speak, but not today, not now.’, Rosé would think to herself as she shrugged her head. There was no changing what already had begun. She just had to adapt for it now instead. As the tuffle asked a simple question, she didn’t feel hesitant after all to answer. After all, as long as she didn’t give too much away it would be fine wouldn’t it? “I’m afraid I’ve not met many others of my race besides one other, my race…isn’t numerous in our numbers…there’s a reason I would rather not divulge as to why we are not seen often. In answer to your question however, no, I don’t believe it is. My father could never do so. I had an abundance of psychic energy however inherited from my mother and is actually why I try to base my techniques off of kinetic manipulation.”, Rosé would giver her own telepathic answer to the tuffle. Like she had thought, she didn’t feel neglectful to not share information that could lead to her own death.
However, there were two words that led to her fears coming true, Zenom Injector. The very virus that had cause her father…and her mother trouble before, the very virus that had lost her, and her father, someone truly important to the both of them. Projecting her telepathy to the both of them she would begin to speak. “I…I know of the virus. That virus is a mistake that was wiped out…SHOULD have been wiped out. My father destroyed the cache of it and its source itself…on the Ocyrian home world. It was only three decades ago about, an Ocyrian warlord got his hands on a virus that could change the very balance of the universal powers, a virus that could cause wars on even the most peaceful of all planets. It turned people into living weapons. My mother and father traveled the world discreetly intending to destroy every trace of it. My mother, got infected by it, the virus is deadly enough to bypass even our own bloodline. She fought the warlord to the death according to my father, before blowing herself up to destroy the source…or so we thought. If any of this got out, if this is the same virus…then we can’t let it spread. I already have my own promise to take the lives of those who took my mother’s. I won’t let another virus cause the same to happen to another world. If this Saiyan really has such a weapon, he could be trying to build his own army even. What army would even fight against those who look like their own loved ones. That virus is the very reason I can never forgive the Ocyrians.”, she would transfer through her thoughts to those of the others as she could help but attach her own mental image of her mother from her view as a child so long ago, that very same white fur, those red eyes, a bright ornate blue formal wear. Even a sense of rage easily being sensible from her very key or even the thought to mind message itself, a sense of internal pain even to it, one from her own heart. “I’m sorry Rutaba, but I can’t join the Sadal Force, I have my own choices, my own promises I need to face, whether it be alone or not. I already know the Sadalian law would not approve of the methods I would need to do.” WC: 680
Demalia stared at Rutaba with a bemused expression on her face. His reaction to her question was… strange, to say the very least. The Tuffle hybrid couldn't even tell what he was feeling. Was he angry and frustrated? The way he grit his teeth seemed to indicate so. Then he coughed into his hand. Was he embarrassed by all of this?
Then his voice had trailed off. He seemed to be...pained? Admittedly Demalia wasn’t the best at socialization, but he seemed to be thinking of something else. Maybe Demalia was looking too much into it.
Then he had turned apologetic, bowing his head briefly to here. She honestly didn't know how to handle it. She lowered her arms so that they were hanging in front of her, an apologetic look on her face. She felt bad for putting him on the spot.
“Um… thank you very much Rutaba. But I’m the one who should be apologizing to you. I brought up a subject matter that seems to be uncomfortable for you to talk about. If I knew that my question was going to put you on the spot I wouldn't have asked it. Um… it probably sounded like that I was insinuating that you were a er... lecherous person. I was just curious, but I worded my inquiry horribly. I’m sorry!”
This time, Demalia was the one who bowed her head in apology. The situation had become awkward for the both of them. But the air seemed to clear up quickly though, since the Saiyan was smiling at Rose. The alien only gave Demalia a small amount of information on her race. The scientist wanted to know more, although she felt bad for this person as well.
<Oh… is your species facing extinction? Maybe there's Tuffle technology that could help with your plight.>
Demalia noted that telekinesis seemed to be something that was taught. Were there some species that knew it naturally? Her attention was diverted back to Rutaba when he explained in detail about the Saiyan drive for combat. She found it hard to believe that he was like that.
“Even you are like that? Of course I know that Saiyans love fighting but you seem so… civil. It’s hard for me to imagine you as someone who loves fighting. Honestly, you're the nicest guy I’ve ever met.”
Granted that wasn't really saying much considering that 4 out of the last 5 males she encountered had tried to kill her or harm her in some fashion. It was very nice to finally run into a gentleman for once. He seemed nice though, and what he described about his heritage was relatable to her.
“Do you dislike being a Saiyan when you know it makes you more battle prone while disliking the idea that your heritage makes you and your comrades seek fights? It’s a horrible feeling, hating a part of yourself that you can't change.”
Demalia’s head hung low, her shoulders slumping as their group approached the SDF headquarters. Demalia’s mind wondered back to her youth. No one knew what she was, but her height had betrayed that she was a hybrid. The adults were supportive or accepting for the most parts. Most kids her age either wanted nothing to do with her or mocked her for it.
That period had hurt, but Demalia thought she had gotten past the worst if it. That's what she used to think anyway. It turned out there were some people who would do worst to her based on the fact that she was a certain kind of hybrid.
”Demons have no place in this dimension and should remain in Makai, where they belong for all their crimes against creation and the gods. You are a spawn of a demon, a scourge of creation. Tainted… By the blood and sacrifice of your own deities. You want revenge… This is enough to tell me your heart, as a demon, is filled with evil.”
Demalia rubbed the cheek that the God of Creation had slapped. He hated her, despised her for being part demon. He judged her and her motivations based solely on that context. Demalia didn't want revenge for the death of her parents, only for whoever was behind it to face proper justice. What was wrong with that?
Putting that case of baseless hatred to the back of her mind for the moment, raising her head and looking over at Rutaba as he asked her about the Saiyan who had possessed the vial. Demalia told him everything that she remembered about him.
“The Saiyan wasn’t much taller than me, 5’4, maybe 5’5. He probably isn’t much older then me either. had a slight tan to his skin tone, and had freckles just above his nose. His hair and eyes were both brown. He had the former in a weird style. I think they're called dreads, I’m not sure though. He was wearing a hoodie when I met him. I wish I could tell you his name, but that's all I know.”
Demalia listened to Rose’s explanation of the virus. It certainly was an apt description. Although the story itself made Demalia cover her hands over her mouth in horror.
<Oh my god! That's awful! is the virus the reason why there are so few of your kind left?>
Rose had brought up the Ocyrian as the culprits who spread the virus. Even as the alien telepathically sent images of what Demalia presumed to be her mother, her mind flashed back to the day her parents died. Two Ocyrian mercenaries had been hired to kill her parents, and nearly took her life as well. Demalia understood Rose’s hatred of them, but…
“Rose, your parents destroyed all of the virus that the Ocyrians had, but they weren't the creators of it. No one knows where it originated from. They just used it. Ocyrians don't have the technology to manufacture the virus on their own. They can travel through space, but there's very little margin for error in the creation of the Zenom Virus and its enhancers. I know that the Ocyrians have harmed you, but it's wrong to put the blame on all of them and unjustified to condemn their entire race for the actions of some.”
Demalia sniffed, lowering her hands down to her sides. She was gazing at Rose sorrowfully. A tear streak ran slowly past her glasses and down her cheek. She knew what this alien had been through: she could still feel the pain of her own loss all too well.
Yet there was something else in the hybrid’s eyes. She was staring at Rose intensely. There was a strength there that wasn't there before. Demalia was very adamant about the ideals she firmly believed them. She wasn’t going to let anyone blame an entire race of people for the sins of just a part of them. Demalia also knew that feeling all too well.
“Someone else is behind this. Perhaps it's the people who made it originally in the first place. The virus has a multitude of side effects, but the most concerning one is that you can develop a controller that can control an infected being. They are then forced to obey the person with the controller. I doubt that Saiyan was trying to build an army: he didn't even know how to properly inject it into himself. I certainly hope no one is trying to build an army. One person being affected is appalling enough as it is.”
Demalia sniffed again, taking off her glasses and wiping her eyes on her sleeve. She had managed to move on past the death of her parents enough not to break down in public. Although that mental image of Rose’s mother and that story involving the Ocyrians hit a little too close to home. She put her glasses back on, turning and look at Rutaba with slightly red eyes.
“I’m relieved to hear that. I’m sure you’ll be able to find out more then I can on my own. Tracking down things on the black market isn’t my forte, but I couldn't just ignore it either. Um, Rutaba, there's something important I want to ask you about. It concerns the other reason I came here. It’s more of a request then a question though.”
Demalia wasn’t expecting this part of things to go as well. She needed someone to help train her to become stronger, but Rutaba was probably too busy to do that personally. Still, Mayne he could defer him to someone who could.
Perhaps he would ask Rose to do it. Although some of the things that she said rubbed Demalia the wrong way. The last person to judge an entire race was an very unpleasant individual. Would Rose act in a similar fashion to that Kai if she ran into a Ocyrian? Demalia wouldn't be comfortable training with someone like that.

Rutaba would smile lightly at the Tuffle, she asked a bit into how he was when it came to being a Saiyan, he couldn't help but feel obliged to answer, to be honest. "Yes, I am very much like that. When I fight, my heart starts beating faster and adrenaline rushes through my veins. The thrill of a fight is something that can probably best even the most carnal of desires. But, as a whole, we have learned to control that thrill. I'm civil because I love people more than I love fighting, so sparring and protecting is where my thrill of fighting is sated, outside of there I can be as calm and collected as possible because I don't want to be monstrous." he would nod as he felt his answer was sufficient enough for what she questioned about his personality. Just fighting Rosé before, his blood began to run through and his body was filled with adrenaline just at the idea of getting to fight the white jackal. He was contented with that much for now, he had his entire life to fight more and more.
"But yes, even with the thrill rushing through my veins, I find it very deplorable. I love it out of nature, not out of a desire to have it that way. If I could change it, I would, for the sake of others as well due to how the less controllable Saiyans use it to get out of hand, like this Saiyan you ran into." he would look down a bit, thinking over it a bit more, he didn't want to be too extreme with his words and only wanted to get out what he thought was true, he would smile a bit more. "I don't dislike being a Saiyan however, I wouldn't stop being a Saiyan even if I could, and even with this desire running through me. I am proud to be a member of my race, and even if other people frown upon us for our desires and genetics, there is nothing more than just that. I don't care what anyone has done, I won't be condemned for their actions, and I'll make sure my own actions set what they did right." he'd smile to the Tuffle still throughout it all, the fact there was a Saiyan out there doing anything he could to get some false sense of becoming stronger showed just how wrong the Saiyan Genetics could push members of his race. But even then, he knew it wasn't a guaranteed change, and rather one brought about through upbringing. He could keep his own future bright even with the genetics he was born with. But during all of that, he would begin inputting what data the Tuffle gave into a little datapad that he pulled out of his uniform, it wasn't too much to go on for now but it was enough for him to start pulling up records, if the Saiyan was born and raised on Sadal he'd eventually be able to find him.
This, was when Rosé would begin talking, her words sending chills through Rutaba as he listened to what she was saying directly into their minds. This made him put the datapad down for a second, they weren't going to get anywhere immediately, and it would be rude to ignore what she was saying. The story of her parents, the story of this monstrous virus and what it could do to people... it was absolutely horrid. Just knowing how harshly it effected Rosé just made him realize how big of a problem this really was. This wasn't about one uncontrollable Saiyan, this was about the risks of an entire civilization, even the entire universe. He couldn't just sit idly by and do nothing for sure. It was his job and duty to protect innocent life in their universe, all of those innocents being turned into weapons was at the top of his list of things to stop if it'd ever come to pass once more.
He would then just nod a bit as she responded about his proposition for the defense force. 'There's no need to be sorry, Rosé. Everyone has their own stuff they need to face, and it sometimes isn't exactly perfect. I understand perfectly as long as you are upholding your own beliefs and sense of justice... just, do your best not to become a criminal or anything, okay? I won't be able to look the other way, even for someone I'd consider a friend... but you seem like a good person, and I'd love to help you with your promises if you'll accept me. If I am to become the leader of the defense force, I need to make my own choices to do what I think is right, not just what the force tells me, and something tells me that this would be the right thing to do.' his look was soft and happy as he spoke, he didn't want to be a downer for these poor girls, they had been through a lot. Especially Rosé for what he knew, all of this was rough on her, he wished she hadn't been here to hear about all of this, it must bring up such bad memories...
The Peacekeeper would then turn his attention to Demalia as she began speaking to him once more. He would cock his head to the side before just nodding towards her. "Ask away, if its anything the Defense Force can provide, I am sure I can get you answers to anything you need. Though if it is a request, I am also at your service." he would just speak softly as he needed to hear what the other reason was in the first place, he'd remain silent on this subject in particular as he knew she'd ask on her own time, there was no reason to rush things. Both Rosé and Demalia seemed to be going through a lot, from the look in the Tuffle's eyes and the story that Rosé had to speak, both of them could use some time to relax before they continued on, he was ready to give it to them.
This Demalia girl seemed nice at least for the most part, still young as they were, that was all to possible to be too soon to tell. “No technology in the universe will be able to help my race. I wouldn't say we face extinction, but our numbers remain so few only because its the gods' desicision themselves for how we are.You adapt, you survive, that what your race did is it not? Your race lacks height and most of the time strength, yet your technology has allowed your species to live for whoever knows how long truly.Your race has its burdens as does my own, how we deal with them is the true side to the story.”, Rosé would project her thoughts to Demalia in their small conversation of mental matters. Maybe they shared some similarities of thought, but for whenever those were to lie so were the differences for what they must be. Thus was the equations of when two seperate type of beings, creatures designed to create, and creatures designed to destroy. She had no choice on her own path, it was what they were created for.
“They may not be the original creators of this virus, but the more modern strains was devised by one of their own head scientist. Everyone may view Ocyrians as brutes, which they truly are, but they are clever brutes. They won't hesitate to take advantage of a strain such as that. They might have destroyed their caches, but what if they didn't destroy all of it? What if they were too late? Maybe even one of those crates got out. Either way whoever this saiyan is we need to find them and dispose of this virus permanently. There can't be another out break, if another outbreak occurs...I can't gurantee even the safety of this planet itself, whether that be from the umbrawn or even my father if he were to find out. Simply put, my level of strength is only but a fifth of his, and thats from what I've seen, I've never even seen him at full power. If we are going to be handling about this disease we have to try and keep as few as we can knowing about it, only those who are absolute priority. The less that know, the less likely someone greedy will go looking for it.”, Rosé would begin to explain as she conversed between the two. This in all was a peculiar situation already, it was just better off she believed to keep it minor for those who knew currently.
“You don't need to worry Rutaba, I won't be a criminal, I just can't be bound by the restrictions of the rules required by your political force. I need to be able to do this unfortunately of my own future, its a heredical upbringing I guess you can say.”, she would converse lightly her telepathy still being used to communicate. Slowly but surely her more destructive aura began to be sated as she would calm ever so slightly. It was that kind of aura she just needed to be careful with, lest to be consumed by its rage.
Demalia gave the Saiyan a smile, tilting her head to the side slightly as she listened to how the Saiyan viewed his heritage. She decided that she liked Rutaba, and hopefully they would both become friends.
“That’s exactly what I think too. I think that some races are inclined to do certain things due to natural predisposition. We aren't animals ruled by instinct though. We are capable of rational though. We can get past the worst of our impulses, or even channel them in a productive way like you have.”
Demalia found it pretty incredible actually. It wasn’t an easy thing to do, getting past certain impulses. Fortunately she and Rutaba seemed able to deal with the worst of them.
“You're proud of who you are despite of the impulses you have. I think that makes you incredible, having the impulse to love fighting and yet dedicating yourself for fighting your peace. That's honestly really inspiring. It makes me think that I can one day fully accept everything about myself. Although there are still some parts of me that I wish were different. All we can do is establish our own identity with our actions. Show others that we shouldn't be judged by our race alone.”
Once again, Demalia’s thoughts shifted towards the God who had condemned her due to her demon blood, and Rose’s hatred of the Ocyrians due to what some of their race did to her family. It was at the mention of the Gods that Demalia scowled. She couldn't hide her disdain towards Godly decisions even if she wanted to.
“You’re just going to accept what the Gods tell you to do? You have your own free will, you should be able to make your own choices. I intend on doing all I can to le $enough the burdens on my race. Being the best with technology is impressive, but you can't rely on one thing alone for your race to prosper.”
Demalia’s scowl deepened even further when Rose went on about the Ocyrians misdeeds, and then also talked about what her father might do if the virus went out of control. Demalia was normally a shy individual, but when she got mad, her passion for her beliefs came bursting to the surface.
“This virus and this Saiyan do need to be dealt with, and the spread of the virus must be stopped if worst comes to worst. I won't sit here and listen to you call an entire race brutes for the actions of some of them. If I were the one that took your mother from you, would you condemn all Tuffles and Demons for my actions. Most of my people are peaceful and just wish to live their lives out with our families.”
Demalia also had issues with a father who would apparently wipe an entire planet full of life if he had to. Although she realized that it would be harsh on Rose if she told her how adherent she thought her father mindset was. Once again, she viewed this as a more powerful being trying to assert it's views with their strength. The lives of others were their own to do with. Who lived or died shouldn't be decided by one person like that.
Demalia found herself agreeing entirely with Rutaba had to say about Rose’s statement about how her actions may not be accepted by the law. She was surprised that she found someone as like minded as her. Someone who was true to their beliefs and wouldn’t let others contradict those beliefs. Demalia’s scowl faded a bit from her face as she addressed Rose again.
“Me and Rutaba have managed to push past our heredical traits. If your own start leading you down a dangerous path, then you should resist them. I don't think anyone should be above the law just because it's inconvenient for them. Like Rutaba, I won't look the other way if you or anyone else causes trouble.”
Demalia felt bad that she was being this critical of someone after just meeting them. But Rose’s disposition set her on edge. She would try to get past this, but it wasn’t the best of starts for either of them.
Demalia took a deep breath, relaxing a little bit before telling Rutaba about her request. Parts of the conversation had gotten a bit emotional for her, but she thought she had things under control now.
“I… would like you to teach me how to fight. I’ve been pushing myself to get stronger, but like Rose said, Tuffle speciality lies in technology, not fighting. I need a proper teacher to train me. I’ve run into beings who have harmed or have tried harming others simply because they're strong. I need to become capable enough to deal with people who believe might makes right.”
Demalia hoped Rutaba would help her. So far she had managed to pull through most of those situations with her sheer power alone. What if she encountered more people at or above her level of strength though?
The Kai who condemned her was much more powerful than she was. Rose’s father seemed to be powerful from how she described them. Demalia wanted to push herself beyond any of them. If she was the strongest, then she could make sure that no one abused their power.
Rutaba would just grin at the Tuffle as she spoke about what he said about his own heritage. He was happy that he could be somewhat inspiring and wanted to show it on the outside. The Saiyan truly was content with all that was going on so far, when it came to meeting these people. He'd shake his head, realizing that he was focusing too much on the interactions and less on what was really important... he was doing his job, right? But, that was when this would all start going downhill, it seemed that Demalia had some... strong feelings towards what was being said here. He couldn't blame her for that though, everyone was entitled to their side of their story and he didn't know the full story of any of them.
He would listen to Rosé in the meantime as well, hearing what she had to say about what could happen if this information was made more public. It was true... maybe people would do anything for power. His old partner Azukai would probably lust for such a power. If it came out to the Public, he'd probably hear about it and those like him would probably seep out from the dark corners of space to look into it some more. Furthermore, he had to think about just how strong Rosé's father must be, could he be even stronger than the Supreme Kai? He could only imagine a monstrous power descending on them in a hostile manner if such an outbreak happened there. The conversation was sort of going back and forth for what he was listening to at this point, as both of the girls were talking about a pretty touchy subject and he was honestly unsure what he could add.
"I wouldn't say the Ocyrians are hopeless, even if they are brutes as you may say Rosé. I don't believe I have met one myself yet, but I think every race has the potential for change. And I don't think, just because they are Clever Brutes, all of them would go out of their way to use such a weapon. Even if majority rules, I think the minority should be given a chance, of sorts. I understand if they have done far too much for you to forgive them yourself... but don't act rashly, like every race there are outliers. Like comparing myself to this Saiyan who wanted to use this Zenom Injector." he would speak his mind on what Rosé had to say about all of them taking advantage of such a tool, he wasn't sure exactly what Rosé had in mind for the Ocyrians, but if it was anything as bad as a genocide of their race he knew he would have to step in. However, Rosé reassured him somewhat when she brought up that she wouldn't become a criminal, he was relieved enough to hear that.
He was thankful that Demalia was with him when it came to not looking the other way as well if this wasn't going to end well. Rutaba felt a friendship towards Rosé but he couldn't just let that cause his work to slip over something like that. The safety of the Universe and all of their people were above even his closest allies, just like how he knew he couldn't let Azukai remain unpunished. He'd shake his head away from these thoughts. "Either way, I agree that this should be confidential... this Zenom stuff is a bit of a risk to security and... I can't even say I should report it all the way now. We've had breaches among the ranks of the SDF before... one of my own partners betrayed me. If there's another turncoat like that, this Zenom Injector business could spark something serious all over again, I can't let that happen." this was his way to speak his mind about what Rosé also talked about when it came to keeping it to as little people as possible, it was a good idea and he was happy to keep it that way.
Finally, he would turn to Demalia, to address what she was now asking him. He'd smile happily as she spoke to him, and honestly, he was intrigued by what she was asking. The Peacekeeper really couldn't help but agree at this point. "I'd love to be your teacher! I had a wonderful mentor, and I hope I can be even the slightest bit as good to you as he was to me. I need to get stronger myself... after seeing some things, I know that I need to be a lot stronger to properly protect the Universe. So it'd be a big help for me as well to have someone to train with in my spare time, it's boring to train alone most of the time. Don't worry about me being busy with my job either, this place gives me a lot of time where I get to practice, I can probably pull you in here during those hours and we can train to your hearts content." he would rub the back of his head as he responded to her about all of this. He was very excited for such a thing, it had been months since he actually had a training partner. Sure he had time to spar with others but training was an entire deal on its own.
With that out of the way, he would just look down at Demalia for a few seconds, before his face would look a bit more curious than anything. "Hey... by the way, you said Tuffles and Demons, right? When you were talking about yourself? Does that mean you are Half Demon? I had a guy who told me a bit about them... they weren't exactly positive things to say as a whole." he would pause for a few seconds before thinking about how he wanted to continue before he'd smile and set his hand on the Tuffle's shoulder. "You've proven to me that what he said isn't something to take at face value. And just like what I said about the Ocyrians, even if what is said is true for the majority, I am sure there are a choice few like you who are different." he would smile even more lightly before he would let his hand slide off of her shoulder, looking back towards Rosé.
"One last thing... Rosé, don't be afraid to let others into what you think you have to do a bit more. I understand that all of what has happened must be hard for you... and your upbringing is a big part of what you are taking up on your own. But that doesn't mean that you have to be alone in it. There are people who will help you, and people who will support you. I consider you my friend... and I don't want you to have to go through whatever it is you have in mind alone." he would give her a bit of a soft smile as he was trying to be reassuring still. He couldn't help but want to help both of them right now, he had to push away what was dragging him down from his past and look towards the future, other's futures.
