It has really odd that he had been training for so long but he didn't sense a huge increase in his power, but before he could feel sad because of that, Mutaito explained how things worked on the afterlife. "Here, unlike in the living realm, you don't just gain power by training. Your body is nothing but a manifestation of your strong spirit, so here you are, as a matter of fact, strengthening your mind and soul. Therefore, you won't see a rise in your brute ki energy like you would in the world of the living. No, here it accumulates until it becomes a real part of your. Then and only then you will see a growth in power. Be patient, my boy." and like a young apprentice, Galen nodded in awe, impressed with how much he knew about the afterlife. No wonder, Mutaito had been dead for a very long time and even before that he was already well-versed in the ways of the ki, being probably the very first human to actually manifest his ki energy in the physical realm.
In any case, the training continued focused in ki control and how to truly master the ki. "One thing that I've been noticing in your generation is that you kids just charge the attacks. You don't seem to know how to charge your ki." he said and Galen blinked twice, unsure if he understood what he meant. "You mean powering up?" he clueless asked, and Mutaitos shook his head. "That's not what I meant. Charging your ki is increasing the energy concentration inside your body, so you can have it packed up before even choosing which attack to apply that energy for." the concept seemed rather simple, yet the execution sounded completely complicated. Arching one of his brows, the swordsman asked. "But master, is that even possible? Even after your training, I can just feel the ki inside of me like a flame, one that I can make burn hotter and more intensely, but I can only mold it once I bring it out of my body and even then, it's very difficult!" he said and Mutaito chuckled with a gentle and caring expression on his face. "You don't have to mold it. And if you feel your energy untamed, it just means you are still a very long way to go from truly mastering your ki, my boy. You just have to concentrate it inside of you and then, when you have enough, apply it to the technique you want to execute. It's quite simple once you understand how the flow of ki works inside your body and once you realize you don't have a flame inside of you, but water. If it's going to be the water of a lake, or rapid water, is up to you." he said with wisdom and Galen begun to understand what he meant.
Even though Mutaito made it sound simple, it took Galen nearly a month training on the upper realms to finally grasp the complex concept of charging the ki with nothing on his mind. He had to also improve his own ability of attaining a certain kind of "Mushin", meaning no mind. If he, for one second, thought of an specific technique, all of his energy would go to waste, leaving him quite drained and therefore he struggled. It was hard not to think while focusing on concentrating the ki, but as the weeks passed by it became clearer and finally he could sense the water of his ki flowing calmly or furiously through his body, depending on his state of mind. Obviously he grew concerned about his anger based transformations, but that was something he would have to figure out on his own later on.
"Clean your mind! Let your ki flow free, not already engaged to an idea, to a concept. You have to break through your mold and allow your body to react on its own, otherwise you will never hold true mastery over it, kid." and through those teachings, he slowly learned how to let go of his ideas and previously established concepts and just execute the technique with no attachments. Finally he could feel the energy flowing intensely inside his body, concentrated and ready to be used as he seemed fit. It was a really impressive thing, truth be told, and he was awestruck on the fact that he could even master it. No other warrior had shown this skill on his time on the world of the living and to be able to attain that would definitely come in handy. "By charging my energy I will always be ready to use my full power and properly adapt to what the situation demands! That's amazing, Master! I could finally do it! All thanks to you!" he said in gratitude, but Mutaito shook his head. "No, Galen. It was because of you. I merely showed you the path. You were the one to walk through it. Don't forget your merits. Being humble is good, but you must also be able to recognize your accomplishments, or you will be forever belittling yourself!" and there was plenty of wisdom on those words and thus the human nodded in acknowledgment.
