Demalia’s eyes shifted to the side, a bashful look on her face as Rutaba praise her. This was another thing she didn't think she was going to get used to. A part of her hoped that would be the case. It felt nice to get appraisal from him.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to get the hang of the basics if you read the right material. Besides, I don't think I would have the patience to look at mission reports day after day. You’re patient of you can sit through that all the time. Playing chess with you sometime would be very fun.”
The little glimpses of Rutaba’s life in the Defense Force were fascinating to the hybrid. There was much more paperwork involved then she would have expected. It wasn’t just training and missions: there were many aspects of Rutaba’s life she didn't know about. She wanted to learn more about him.
Demalia turned her head to look at him again, She was glad that he agreed with her views in regards to her intake of food. Still though, he didn't exact practice restraint when eating food.
“That reminds me, I need to do some research on Saiyan biology. I know you can eat much more than other species, but I need to know if there's any risks to constantly eating down piles of food. You could risk cardiac arrest or other physical drawbacks if you're susceptible to them.”
Demalia put a hand under her chin in thought, the other one adjusting her glasses. She didn’t want to be too overbearing or pushy about it, but she was going to look after the health of her boyfriend from now on. If he could do all that eating without any risk, then that was fine. If there was some kind of danger though, well… he was going to have to let off all those carbs.
Although that train of thought was derailed by Rutaba’s concerns over the possible dangers of her project. Boy, he didn’t even know the half of how dangerous it could be. Demalia decided to omit certain aspects of it for the time being.
“You don’t have to worry Rutaba. I take my time making up my mind about what to order at a restaurant, let alone a risky procedure. It's something I’m going to attempt back home, where I have all of my equipment available. And… I’d like for you to be there with me for it, if you can find the time to go to Plant with me.”
Demalia twiddled her thumbs nervously. She didn’t know why she was worried. They had gotten the hard part out of the way. The procedure itself was rather risky though. She didn’t want a visit to her homeworld to end in the worst possible way.
As she started to talk about the risks of eating so much food, Rutaba's eyes shot open a bit with a look of slight worry. "Are you saying I might have to stop eating so much food if those risks are there? But where will all the energy come from in that case..." he looked only slightly upset about this, but not really at her, but more as a self reflection sort of deal. There's one thing a Saiyan always keeps, his diet. Without it, what would he turn into? Some sort of Non-Saiyan humanoid creature, that looks like a Saiyan and could possibly be mistaken for one if born among them? Nonsensicle. He would snap out of it shortly after, and then smile back down at the Tuffle. "Well, my life means more to me than food. If something happens to me because of it, I won't be able to keep protecting everyone, so I'd say it is an okay loss. But I hope there is no risk!" he'd say this very firmly, with a nod to go with it. If he was telling the truth, he was banking on the idea that it hadn't hurt him before, so it won't hurt in the future.
The moment that Demalia began to explain her procedure as well, the Saiyan would let out a very soft sigh of relief. It didn't sound so bad at least, she was a cautious girl. "Right... right. That makes a lot of sense, thank you." he would rub the back of his head, feeling sort of ashamed for his rushed words to ask her to be safe when she, sure enough, would be safe with every last bit of it. She also had to go home to get her equipment... it was a shame, he probably wouldn't be able to see her for a while. He would let another soft sigh out as he realized he wouldn't be able to go with her. Then the last line dawned on him. "I... you'd like me there? Well, if you have any expectations for when you have to go, I can definitely file in ahead of time! Let's see... if I get enough progress with my training they should allow me to go within the next couple of months, even sooner if I work extra hard. Though if it's going to be a few months from now, I'll definitely be able to get there with the progress I am escalating at now. Oh and if I file it in as apart of a clients request for me to accompany you, it'll be easier. I was going to go to Plant eventually for the other mission you gave anyhow if you ever wanted to show me where that happened." he was ranting on and on, perhaps getting far too excited realizing that he wasn't going to be left behind on Sadal when she had to do this dangerous procedure. Knowing that he was possibly going to go with her for it and be able to watch over her eased him as well.
Though, he definitely would have to do some sort of mental preparation for it all. He wasn't great with machines, he might get worried about the smallest things occurring even if it was all going according to plan. He would finally calm himself down after a few more seconds, waving his free hand that wasn't holding onto her leftover food. "Apologies, I guess I sort of got... overeager. In any case, I'd really like to come with you, and I'll do everything that I can to get some time over there." he would smile a bit softly as he responded calmly now. He was just happy to be included.
Demalia giggled at Rutaba’s panic, covwring her mouth with one of her hands. She had never seen him in combat, but his demeanor and the stories he told had painted a picture of Rutaba being a brave peacekeeper. To see him this concerned about a possible diet was really funny.
“Don’t worry Rutaba, I’m not going to force you on some kind of diet. I just want to get a general idea of what is healthy for a Saiyan. If you require that much food, then I have nothing to worry about if you stock out a restaurant. If there is something I have to worry about… then…”
Demalia lowered her hand from her mouth. Her amusement was plain to see, even in her eyes. She was having a surprising amount of fun with this.
“I’ll let you make your own decision. You’re acting like I’m going to take away your food and force feed you vegetables. I’m not going to force you to do something you don't want to do. But you thought I was! The look on your face… that was priceless!”
Demalia stopped walking, bending over and laughing. While it was at his expense a little bit, it wasn’t mocking him. She was laughing the way one would if someone was told a funny joke. Her melodious voice echoed through the forest around them. She stood up, taking off her glasses and wiping her eyes on her sleeve.
As she put them back on, she found herself looking at Rutaba’s smiling face, much to her surprise. He seemed very accepting of her concerns for his health. She didn’t expect that. It made her feel bad that she had been laughing a few minutes earlier.
“I know. It's why I said I was going to do some research regarding your eating habits. I don't want to put you in danger. We’ll come back to this after I know more.”
Demalia jogged to catch up to Rutaba, getting into step beside him as they walked further into the forest. He was relieved when she told him about the precautions that she intended on taking before going ahead with her project. Of course she wouldn’t do something like that without taking the proper precautions.
She nodded in understanding when he brought up how tricky it was going to be for him to arrive. Of course he couldn't just abandon his duties. She gave him a small smile at his excitement. In these moments Rutaba seemed like a small child eagerly awaiting a treat. She often for like that too when faced with the prospect of discovering something new.
“It’s quite alright Rutaba. I won’t be leaving Sadal right away. There are still preparations I have to make and I want to spend some more time with you. How about you make the request as soon as possible? That way when I leave, the wait won't be long.”
Demalia herself was excited at the prospect of him coming to Plant. They were going to do so much there! Showing her boyfriend her home was going to be fun. The Tuffles had made amazing achievements that she wanted him to see. It was going to be perfect.
The instant that Demalia stated that she wasn't going to force him on a diet and that she would let him make his own decision. She laughed at his panic but he couldn't help but chuckle at it as well. He did sort of jump the gun on this whole thing. He felt no malicious intent coming from her actions and all around it was just really relaxing and relieving. "R-Right, I should have known." he would rub the back of his head a bit ashamed but not in a negative way, more just sheepish at the idea of looking bad in front of her. But it brought a smile to her face so at the very least he was happy with the outcome.
She then stated that they would come back to it once she knew more, nodding firmly. "Well... I'll decide at that point in time then, but I'd probably go to whatever keeps me around the longest." he would continue rubbing the back of his head with that soft smile on his face, happy to be moving passed that subject back into something a lot more serious, but the idea of him going along still made him quite giddy. His eyes would fall upon her again as she clarified that he had some time to get ready.
With a bit of a more formal demeanor about himself now after his bit of overexcitement, he would give her a very firm nod. "I'll get on that as soon as I can, I'm sure they won't mind, I've been making a lot of progress lately." he would roll his shoulders, the weights pressing down into his body a bit further, allowing him to note on them for a second. "I think I've gotten stronger since I met you than I have for quite a while. I'll have to thank you for assisting the force~" he would speak a bit playfully at the end. They were dating now, so he knew he had all the opportunity in the world to thank her for a lot of things. Formally thanking her for assisting a member of the force to get stronger was hardly at the top of the list either. "And for that same reason, I think I'll get a lot more personal freedom soon." his smile seemed beaming with excitement now. The idea of him getting freedom of movement in the force made him a lot happier, while he didn't mind being restricted due to the lack of allies, he wanted to be able to protect everyone else as well.
Within a short while, they would finally reach the outskirts of the forest they were walking through, their vision being opened up to more landmarks over the planet. He would slowly look down at the takeout that he was holding for Demalia, thinking on it a bit before looking over to her. "Since we've run out of a forest to walk through, and we have your food here, want to head to your ship to put it away for later? Can talk more along the way, of course!" with those words said and done, he would start to walk in the direction of where she kept her ship that he visited before to train. His pace wasn't brisk at all, rather staying at the same walking speed they had before in the forest. "In any case, back on topic. I hope your preparations go well before you leave and all. If you need any assistance I'd be happy to help with anything you need! But otherwise, call me up for anything. Be it just to spend more time together and all or if you need something. I like spending time with you, no matter the subject." his voice would be a lot calmer at this point. His worries over what she was going to do were already passed, and he just had to be pleased that she was taking every precaution and preparation she needed for it, it was all he needed to know.
Demalia gave him a sweet smile. For someone in the Sadal Peace Force, he was surprisingly innocent at times. He believed that she had been serious about forcing him onto a diet. And he looked so embarrassed that he had completely taken it at face value. Of course she wasn’t going to do that: it was pure cruelty to force a Saiyan to eat less than what they needed.
“The whole point of a healthy diet is that it does allow you to live a longer life. It would defeat the purpose if it all it did was send you to an early grave, you know.”
Rutaba had been making quite a bit of progress himself. As strange as it was, she was helping him get stronger. She had only a vague idea of the nuances of combat, but here she was helping Rutaba get more powerful. Was their training really the main reason why he was getting stronger? She blushed lightly, rubbing the back of her head and shifting her eyes away from him.
“Now you’re making me embarrassed… I’m flattered, but I think it’s an exaggeration to say that I’m helping the entire defense force just by doing training regiments with you. If that’s what’s going to get you to Plant faster, then I’ll keep on working hard with you.”
Soon they found themselves exiting the long expanse of forest that they had been walking them. In front of them was a whole new environment to explore. Even if they decided to just walk back to her ship. She did suppose her food would get cold. And they would have plenty of time to talk on the way back, as he pointed out. She nodded, lowering her hand to her side.
“I’ll keep all of that in mind Rutaba. I have done my calculations to the tea: I don’t expect anything to go wrong, but in the event that they do, I’m sure you’ll help me work things out. Taking the scenic route back to my ship sounds like a wonderful idea.”
Demalia walked beside her boyfriend, taking the long road back to her ship. She looked down at one of his hands for a few seconds. One of her hands moved forward tentatively. It looked as though she meant to hold his hand. She pulled back at the last minute though, her eyes looking towards the road of head. She seemed unsure… like she didn’t know whether or not that was appropriate given the stage that they were at their relationship. However Rutaba may respond to that, they spent the rest of the way back enjoying each others company, talking about a great many things.
As the Tuffle began to speak again, the Saiyan's eyes sort of looked off at the area around them. So it really did sound like a good idea then. As usual, with a smile on his face, his legs carried him off alongside the Tuffle to their destination. But the path there was still nice, what took them there was hardly something that mattered. As long as he could enjoy it every step of the way, talking to her, it was worth it to the Saiyan. He'd almost out of instinct turn towards her hand as it reached towards him, more out of reaction to be on guard, but the hesitation in her as she then pulled back made him blink slowly.
Almost too happily, the Saiyan's hand reached out and took ahold of Demalia's hand trying to show her that it was okay. Despite both of his hands being occupied now, he was content not needing to hold a sword in either one of them or make a fist. He'd look onward towards their destination and talk to the Tuffle as much as he could on their way there. What happened from there was up to them till that day ended. I am also requesting PL Heavy Weights Equipped.
