Sadal had done little to impress Volta so far, not too long after his landing he encountered the likes of a saiyan that seemed far happier than what he had assumed from a race of warriors, perhaps he didn't need to jump to conclusions. Regardless that particular saiyan had happened to redeem themselves with the small animals they had on their farm.
With his eyes now on the prize Volta was making his way towards what he assumed to be the capital city of the planet. It wasn't truly exploring the universe if he didn't see the capital of every planet as well as the less significant land marks. He kept his missile battery opened in case some sort of threat made itself apparent to him, but from what he had encountered on this planet so far, it seemed unlikely.
Soaring through the skies was the thunderbird leaking a visible trail of white aura as it would whimsical spin about, performing the occasional loop de loop, while making sure to keep a semi-attentive glance at the scenery below. The skies were painted a healthy blue, along its mountainous red landscape with the occasional passing vehicle steaming through the area. There was nothing odd to note, which was quite typical of a normal day’s patrol at least for Mint. Patrolling didn’t seem like the most appealing part of the job to those in the force, some may describe it to be a bit mundane at times. But not for this woman, as she was always up for using it as a chance to exert her aerial capabilities to its fullest in order to better herself when it came to a time where she would need swift jet-like speeds to pursue a runaway or something of the sorts.
From her high vantage, she could practically see the whole capital in the horizon along with a few other cities, but her main focus was simply the area below appraising the scenery for anything that would be out of place. And whether it was fortunate or perhaps a curse, she did happen to hook her lenses onto something that wasn’t the typical scene. <Is that. . . a robot?> From below, her sights were set on what she believe to be a machine judging by its metallic appearance. It seemed to have a face on its body but the most eyeballing thing was that it had weaponry on it. While it wasn’t uncommon for even citizens to have weapons, having missile launchers seemed overboard. Perhaps the one controlling the machine had some nefarious intentions in mind or something of the sorts. <Plus. . . whoever’s in that thing is strong.> The brunette wasn’t the most adept with sensory abilities but was able to tell the mass amount of power stemming from the robot’s direction.
A logical thing if she were to play by the books was to call HQ and report this before acting, after all engaging into a possible fight on one’s lonesome was a rash thing to do. But although Mint was usually the cooperative person she still was something whom was overconfident in her abilities- no, she had to be else she couldn’t keep her engine running. Mentally preparing her just in-case the worse was to come and this would turn into a brawl of some sorts, her face moulded into one of cautiousness as she descended down from her flight to eventually stop in the path where the robot-man-thing was heading to. “Excuse me, mind telling me where you are going and what you plan to do with that weapon you’re carrying?” Her words were spoken with a tone of amiability and calmness, but her posture did seem a little tense. “You do seem pretty suspicious after all, riding a machine with a weapon out in the middle of nowhere.”
Things went exceptionally slowly as Volta made his way towards what he assumed the capital in the distance, he could barely make it out from where he was, but the height of the buildings seemed to indicate this was the case after all. Doing his best to keep out of the sight of the general travelers, too much attention to himself may cause issue after all.
Unaware to the patrol above him, Volta would not notice the saiyan until she spoke to him directly that was. Turning back to see the living sack of flesh interrogating him about his right arm. Taking a moment to sigh before making his reply, the white silver metal teeth sets inside his mouth would be visible during both actions in this case.
"What's it matter to you fleshy mortals? You find it odd that my right arm consists of my only line of defense on a foreign planet?"
Volta pats the side of the battery with his hand and rests it back on his hip... chin, afterwards. However closing the battery after this he opens his mouth once more to finish with his reply.
"As for where I am going and who I am. I am a Metalman and I am exploring the galaxy. So my destination is your capital city."
Pointing off into the distance, Volta waits for the saiyan to make her reply. Perhaps she could get him in there with a tad less suspicion than if he had walked into the city openly armed and alone. Either way it beat a fight he couldn't win.
The inspection would reveal quite an eye opening surprise as what responded to her wasn’t what she was entirely expecting. What she presumed was a robot opened its mouth revealing teeth along with conveying words. While being a person that does fiddle with machinery herself, talking robots weren’t that much surprising, but this one didn’t seem like your standard robot. After all, it had teeth! And it referred to her as fleshy mortal, words that warranted her face to show slight offense, before looking down to inspect herself. “I don’t think I’m fat.” Mint whispered in a defensive tone to herself. Then again, she did recall that she went a bit overboard with eating recently. And did he refer to the arm of the robot as his own arm? Putting two and two together, Mint slowly pieced together that perhaps her past assumption was wrong.
“A bit, it’s not a common thing to see someone whose arm is actually a weapon. Then again, I suppose anything is a weapon in the hands of a trained person.” Mint shuddered, having a flash back to one fight that she had with Chife whom was using a newspaper as a means to defend himself. Many bruises were had that day. “And you say you are a Metalman?” Her arms crossed, tilting her head to think. She did believe that she came across the name of such a race in the records of an old case before, but even though in her past she’s met many different kinds of sentient beings this would be her first encounter with this one. Her shoulders relaxed, letting out a little breath. The brunette may have been on edge a little before, but it seemed that he wasn’t a threat as far as she could tell.
Flashing a pearly smile, while still staring at him with interest at his… unique form, she’d let out an apology. “Sorry for stopping you, you may not know this but you look pretty suspicious but I figure that was my fault for being a little ignorant here. Just had to do my job and make sure everything was alright while I was on a patrol.” Was this person a traveller? It didn’t seem as if her recognized her profession by what she was wearing so she was a bit curious to whether he knew that she was a member of the SDF or at least had a clue to their existence. With them often prowling around the galaxy you’d have to be living under a rock to not know of that they protect the innocent. “So, you’re heading to the city on foot?” It seemed a bit odd; she would figure that he could at least fly given his form or at least have some kind of transport. Then again considering his size perhaps he would be unable to do such a thing.
While she certainly could just leave, she felt a bit guilty for jumping the gun and calling him a machine as well. Wouldn’t that be a racist remark? Mint certainly hoped not. Hoping on her feet forward to lean in, head staring down at his gigantic face body, a question was asked. “Maybe I could give you a little assistance, that is if you need any help?”
Volta watched the saiyan carefully, inspecting her reaction to his statement, she almost seemed somewhere between concerned and disgusted at the fact. It reminded him of the reactions he witnessed on those he insulted back home, many of them didn't take too kindly to the comments he made. And that was the reaction he always hoped for after all, it affirmed him to the fact that he got under their skin, although more metaphorically in the case of the other metalmen back home.
Her composure seemed to reestablish itself however as she inspected his being, was she, much like the others, unaware of his species' existence? Perhaps his kind was a lot less common than he had previously assumed. She did, however make a comment on being on patrol, perhaps she was a member of some sort of planetary defense service. This could likely prove advantageous for the metalman, his only goal for the time after all was to reach their capital.
Of course I'm heading there on foot, I don't exactly float on the wind like a feather. I likely weight as much as, if not more, than one of your buildings in the so called 'capital'."
Volta replied to the saiyan female, chuckling to himself some and patting his face as a sort of indication that he valued his weight, even if it may be a tad extreme in some people'es eyes. To prove his point, Volta launched himself just under a foot into the air, quaking the immediate area around him as he landed, tearing his feet into the ground up to their joints.
"See, I'm not exactly light weight, but if you can lift me feel free to offer me 'assistance'. My legs hurt anyways."
He spoke his final words to the saiyan before awaiting a reply, surely she had some sort of quip to match the moment. Either way it was not exactly going to be a "quick" trip to the capital, but who knew after all. All Volta knew was that he was going to be here a while and perhaps he could learn more from this saiyan female.
It was her assumption that his words were a joke, merely something said to lighten up the mood. But she was reasonably sure that she could sweep him up and carry him to the capital just as a kind act. While Mint certain could just leave him be, it’s always been in her nature to lend a helping hand if she finds an opportunity to do so. “Don’t worry; I’m a little stronger than how I look.” She affirmed with a cocky smile, rising up to stand up straight. Her confidence came into question however, as the Metalman went on to prove that his words were indeed facts. As he jumped, to soon land her face went from slight arrogance to utter surprise as the quake produced by his impact almost resulted in her falling over. It was a good thing that her sense of balance was just as big as her sense of pride at her physical capabilities.
<What on the Sadal?> she thought in a panic, squinting at the metallic man’s form. <What exactly is he made of?> His race is called Metalmen but even metal wouldn’t be that heavy. Sure, it was probably possible for Mint to perform such a feat if she attempted to strike the ground with her power, but to get a shake of that degree from just jumping was something that she never would expect to witness. Letting her smile turn into a nerved one, she would revaluate her options. “Aha, well I don’t think I can just manage to do that without risking you falling a few times.” Some part of her did want to try, but considering that it was carrying another person she didn’t want to risk them being harmed by her rash choices. That didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to try and help in some other way however.
“Buuuuut-” Swiftly, the brunette raised a digit in the air to signify an idea popping into her head. “I could just walk along with you if you need some company. My patrol is about to end anyway so it wouldn’t be too much trouble on my end.” It was merely just a kind suggestion but not without being beneficial to herself. She would easily get to strike up a few conversations with this stranger and perhaps find out a bit more about his strange body and maybe even his travels. Secretly she’s a little bit more interested at the fact that he’s biologically looking like a machine, due to being a tinkerer with mechanical objects.
Retracting his back leg, Volta worked to remove his legs from the holes he had created through jumping. Pivoting back and utilizing his balance leg in attempts to break free from the hands of the soil that gripped at his metallic ankles. However he did quite the show while he worked his way out of the hole. He got to see the pride drain from the saiyan woman's face.
Is it safe to say that I exceed the average lifting weight on this planet?"
Volta spoke, pulling his left leg free moving away from the three holes he left in the ground, the soil falling into itself slightly at the disturbance of its filler. He would sigh lightly, now that he had completely saved himself from the holes. That wasn't something that happened back on the Metalman home world. Mostly because the planet was mostly metal or stone.
The saiyan female however did offer to show him the way to the capital in the least... even though it was fairly visible in the distance. Either way Volta thought that perhaps it was in his best interests to come with a saiyan as to not come off as a threat to the city as he did with this particular one.
"Fair enough. I don't need anymore concerned reactions about my construction in the city like yours. It could end up a lot worse for me."
His weight still remained to be quite a surprising thing, even after the shock of seeing him perform that quake passed. “Hm.” The Saiyan tapped her foot, attempting to genuinely think about what he said. “I guess you do? I could still lift you if I tried, but not everyone around is that interested in training as I am.” After all, not all of Saiyans were people whom were content only training and fighting for some cause, there was many whom were just civilians and lived out their lives like a normal person. While it was all good to be confident, she knew very well that she’d drop him a few times along the way. While she assumed considering his form that he may not feel it, that was just an assumption plus it wouldn’t be quite comfortable either way.
As the metalman agreed with her suggestion she’d perk up with a little bit of excitement, “That’s great. But-.” She paused; his words earlier were a bit odd. “Anymore?” Considering what this term meant, it meant that perhaps a previous exchange didn’t start off quite well. Mint felt a sensation of pity for him, considering the way he looked there would certainly be a lot more people other than just herself judging him on the way he looked, especially it would be a bit of a common occurrence happening in the capital despite the diverse amount of races within there. Is it due to him looking in-organic? The Saiyan didn’t know, but perhaps this little meeting would stop her from judging people based on how they look. Then again, knowing her she’d just make the same mistake after soon forgetting about this life lesson.
Twisting around to face the direction of the capital, assuming that her metal-guest would happen to be following her, she’d hum and happily walk to the said direction. “So, you said that you’re exploring the galaxy. That’s pretty impressive, have you been doing it for a short-while or have you got a lot of stories to tell about your travels.” She peeked behind her, taking a look at him adding on, “Because If you do I wouldn’t mind hearing about them. I don’t have that much time for vacations to other planets being so busy with my job and all.”
This planet is actually the first on my trip from home. I have read what information my people have collected from around the galaxy, but with how unlikely my kind is to travel from home. I was launched into space at random."
Volta replied to the saiyan's question. Considering what she had said beforehand as he did so. New information to add to his notes was nice, and knoeing of the range of civility of the saiyans changed what he had once read about great warriors and combatants, perhaps these types were jsut few and far between unlike the rest. He had seen an example of this already when he arrived on the planet, that saiyan that owned a farm. If he could find a library to learn some of their history, perhaps there would be information he could make use of.
"I want to expand on the knowledge my people have of the universe. It is quite obvious it is outdated. I have met species I never knew existed as well as have new information on both your kind and your planet."
Volta continues to ramble on, stuck in his own sort of bubble of information. Unsure if the saiyan was still listening. As he spoke he pulled a box out of the interior of his head, revealing the empty space that could easily fit an average sized humanoid to the saiyan female. opening the box with his freehand he pulled out a notepad and in one quick movement put it into his mouth before shutting the box and tossing it into his head once more.
"These are the notes I have taken so far. Nothing far too intriguing however."
Offering to show the notepad to the female, should she look at it there would be miscellaneous notes concerning a farm owned by a saiyan, a large cat shaped person and crude sketches of various farm animals with notes on how cute and tiny they are surrounding such.
