An idiot.
That was who she was looking at here. A useless lump of a body that not only hadn't moved, but was cold as ice. It had been at least a whole day, and she was still like this. Why. Just what part about being a Vampire did this? It was like she was dead. But that couldn't have been true. She didn't want it to be. That alien and that other Vampire had said she hadn't really been hurt at all. Just used a lot of energy that ki clearly just couldn't fix.
Didn't make watching this crap any easier though. It made her feel sick, not only because this room was being made so cold because of all this, but because someone she actually knew might have been dead. And this wasn't some stranger either. They had grew up together and always hung out as much as they could have. They used to really talk too, before this whole Vampire business. She should have really cared less because of it, but she just couldn't.
The grip she had on the bedsheets had tightened, and even what strength she had, which was apparently higher than a typical human, didn't shake her cousin awake. The girl was practically in some kind of coma, and she hated every second of it. Even that machine, who was supposed to have been a replacement for her to talk to, had been shut down for some reason, since they had traveled here. That idea was something she had thought was so stupid, especially seeing the thing act like younger versions of themselves were really around, but it was easy to notice the lack of that little voice she hadn't heard for years.
What was even the point of a replacement, if it wasn't doing its job right now? She had so much hate for all of this, but her lips had eventually pursed, giving up at the idea something was suddenly going to change. The cold in here was getting to her, and she let go of the grip she had on the bed, pulling herself up to tidy it before she had left. That much was deserved, if they were just going to wind up keeping her here for who knows how long.
She was already starting to warm up as she left the room, closing the doors behind her. This whole place was the same mansion that she and the others had always lived in. But they weren't on earth any more, and there was just something different about this place because of that. And it wasn't because of the gravity or air around here either. Thinking about it, this crap she was feeling might have just been the idea this might have been a permanent thing.
They were on a whole new planet, and while the family and friends of theirs they knew were still alive, just how long was that going to last? This whole group had enemies who were clearly going to have the chance to attack, if they had already got her cousin in that kind of state. The others were pretty strong, yeah, but everyone who lived in this mansion had knew they were so dependent on having the strongest Vampire here, to protect them.
She just couldn't see things not going wrong, the longer they had stayed here, and from the look of things, she was the only one around here who actually felt this way. Everyone else was moving around like they always had, and even somewhere they had never been, they still filled this place with noise.
That was all she was seeing, as she walked further away from where her comatose cousin was. She couldn't take her mind off of who everyone should have been worried about, and wouldn't until the brunette had actually woke up. Nothing which these guys had really understand. What were they even talking about?
She had plopped down onto one side of the nearest couch in the living room here, her eyes turning to look out the glasspaned windows, and the cold that was out there. A lot had really happened in a day that she barely really knew much about. All of this stuff that the others here dealt with, she didn't really want any business with, outside of what it took to not get killed being around these guys. Her cousin always liked to go on about how to do that, but they also had time to talk about it, and break things down to where she could understand it. All she knew that happened yesterday, was West City's attack.
Nothing about what they were supposed to do with their leader like that, other than the obvious about not causing panic. But here these guys were, carrying on like things were really normal. One of the things that she had always been told by the brunette, was that these guys were supposed to be prepared to move on without her. But the thought of that and seeing it actually happen were different things here. Something she didn't find to really be believable.
Not when they were making it look so easy, as if someone who was that strong, had never really been around at all. No matter how she tried to pretend that she wasn't listening, she found herself turning away from the window to look at them anyway, eyes narrowing at the conversation that was going on.
These were the kind of people she normally wouldn't have even bothered talking to about a year or so ago, outside of places where she would have had to deal with them. They did mean something to her, with how long some of them had been around, though calling them friends would have been too strong of a word, even if these guys were mostly the type to call her one. Attachment just wasn't her kind of thing, and you had to be kidding to say she needed it.
"...So it should be something like this then?"
"...Correct, although it's my assumption based on preceding events."
Sitting a little bit away from her, were those two of the three other Vampires who were so often with her cousin. They had felt like they had been here since she had been in this mansion's health center, which was at least a couple of hours. She might not have normally been a patient person when it came to dealing with crap she didn't care about, but all of this mess she figured the brunette was leading for them to see, required a lot of it.
Without her around. she had to be the one making sure everyone else didn't forget anything. The entire Vampire population they've managed to salvage was on this new planet, still under the control of these guys and two others. But she still didn't see them as replacements, especially when the silver-haired one she could have possibly called a replacement, was nowhere near her cousin's power. They really all wished they had that kind of protection.
Natsumi was her name, and as much as she probably should have been jealous of the girl, for getting to actually see her cousin more than she did, she just couldn't. Listening to her in the first place, and trying to make out just what the girl had been talking about, it really only reminded her of the comatose Vampire. They both just seemed to have this kind of way with talking that she'd never be able to really grasp for herself, without an explanation.
Some of the differences she could spot right off the bat though, knowing this girl had some doubt to her, and that she was also the type to go and pray. What confidence she knew her cousin to have had, it was all a bunch of depressing crap how she wasn't the same person anymore. Nothing which she could really say was a lie, but still something she kept arguing with anyway. Even if her cousin could barely admit it herself, there was humanity there.
The silver-haired Vampire was really reading into what mass of paragraphs these two had came up with together. These were like chock full of notes too, which she could tell from its cover, wasn't the book their strongest Vampire had. And then there was Miki, one of the brunettes in this place, who always looked like she wanted to say something, but wasn't sure if it was all she had wanted. A nice girl she had some respect for, if only because her older brother had a thing for her cousin. She still thought it was pretty weird the guy allowed an Android to be made that looked like him, but this was just the kind of crap they had to learn to accept and ignore, knowing that aliens from other planets tried to attack the place all of the time back on earth.
From the looks of it, she had a different bunch of path charts. God, trying to figure out whatever these two were looking at, was probably going to be a pain. Thinking back to what they could be talking about in the first place, she only knew the silver-haired Vampire was practically an advisor. What most would probably consider to be her cousin's second in command. Though they would be wrong. And this girl probably felt more jealous than she ever could.
The Majin, who hadn't really been in this place for months, she knew the brunette would always consider to be the actual substitute around here, if only because the alien had been the first recruit for this place. Something that small, meant to someone like her cousin, way more than anyone would have really believed. The Majin was pretty durable too, and could probably be stronger than the silver-haired Vampire, if she had gone and really pushed herself.
While the smarter Vampire was sitting with a leg crossed over, the other one stared so hard at what they had come up with. It was honestly pissing her off watching it all, making her slide over next to the silver-haired girl, and grabbing the book of notes from her. There was no resistance, only the Vampire briefly closing her eyes, as she turned to look at just what was being said in this thing. Unsurprisingly it was a summary of sorts on what had seemed to happen back on earth. They had left days before the massacre in West City had started, so for things to have turned out like this, it was all surprising.
"So where exactly do we fit into this whole thing, since you and Lithi were the only ones with her?"
She couldn't make sense of the notes, even reading the first paragraph. The account of the whole thing described all the chaos and other junk that while it was vivid would take longer than it would have, just asking while she tried to. Her other hand was held out for the other piece of paper, which was also given to her pretty immediately. The only difference was, the other Vampire had smiled pretty awkwardly, which wasn't unusual coming from her.
"It starts off on the top corner there. After we left, there was still a few days where Rukia had continued to go over the plan, making sure things were going right and all."
Looking at where she had been pointed towards, she did see there was a paragraph for what it was talking about. A supply check had definitely sounded like her cousin alright. There was always going to be caution, and considering the whole idea was to work with demons, she couldn't have really blamed that.
"Of course, there had to also be some reminders in the case that things had gone wrong. Mostly the assurance that myself and Lithi, if she hadn't gone out of control, would do our best to flee and leave the planet. Which I understand would be hard on you, and would have you spite us for."
The girl wasn't wrong with that either. Leaving her cousin to die alone, and these guys being the survivors? It would have been a pain to explain to both of their parents, and god, not to mention how pissed she would actually be at the brunette for dying on her. Yeah, there was all that stuff about revivals being a thing and cheating death, but damn, it was still going to hurt for a long while. They've never really known or seen anyone who actually did come back to life either. Just heard about it happening from other people, and there was always going to be doubt when it had came to actually living.
This stuff being mentioned in the first place, she was also able to follow, looking at the paragraphs that it was directing her to. She had only gave a nod to the two explaining things to her, leaning back more as she had tried to go and read ahead for herself. From the looks of things, if things had gone well for them, their alliance with the demons were supposed to be much stronger, and then the next plan was supposed to look at their current standings with people. The thing was though, all of this talk about that stuff on success, was waay over the next couple of pages, which she had to flip through.
Everything else before this was based on what had happened, and had led to the success. What happened for a failure tied into things, but there wasn't much differentiation. Which really pissed her off, knowing the brunette was so okay with things moving on without her around. She wasn't supposed to just go and accept death like that. It just wasn't natural, super strength or not. Something like death, there was supposed to be fear for anyone who was alive.
"So we're supposed to be okay with the Saiyans on Namek, some chick named Duvainel who we haven't seen in forever, another chick who's an Elemi hybrid, that group running that whole Elemi Restoration Project, the Vampire population, Capsule Corp, Wintera, and now one half of the demons. Doesn't make me feel better at all, but it's whatever I guess."
All of those groups were clearly because of her cousin had been the one to set it up. Wintera, that Kold Demon who had just left the place, and they were taking advantage of now, she knew they were likely able to at least control. Still, this amount of power could have been a whole lot more.
"Correct. We're going to do our best to fill in until she awakens, but it's going to be a difficult process."
She had handed the papers back with a sigh, only turning away from the two upon seeing the lavender-haired Vampire walk by, some vials of blood in her hands. Touka being around here, meant only one more Vampire apart of this main team was missing, but that also wasn't really unusual. Those vials though meant she was going to feed her cousin again, which she did actually want to be around for. Even though she still likely wouldn't wake up.
"Yeah yeah, do whatever you can. Just make sure we don't die."
