Progress was a necessity.
Without it, the foundations of what one could establish, could also easily fall apart. Promises were nothing but uttered nonsense without results, and if it couldn't have been guaranteed in a reasonable amount of time, the idea that one held any kind of competence at all, would be too low to be taken seriously.
Ambition often got in the way as well, grasping one's own mind, until it caused the belief and delusion that things were falling into place. That nothing could have possibly gone wrong, so long as certain factors were involved, and played the roles that were expected of them. For success was supposed to be higher when one had power, along with followers to take the kind of actions which one couldn't or didn't hold the need to do so themselves.
But this was the kind of thinking that was flawed, and held a kind of hope that could be shattered for a few easy reasons, although the primary one came from a lack of input. Ambition wasn't a bad thing to have, and while it was true that higher power brought on more success, it was through allies did that become a very possibility. But having them around and giving them orders wasn't enough to guarantee that results could be something meaningful.
Time and effort were the two things needed to be given, in order to ensure that there was an understanding between leader and allies, and it was because of these things, had she managed to even get to where things were right now. The Vampires were publicly allowed to walk around now, amongst the Kold Demons, although the existence of her kind were still ignored unless it couldn't be helped. Something which was rarely the case, as this treatment of each other was only until separate cities could be built. One of the agreements that she had managed to establish, when her kind had publicly taken over the place.
There were so many political matters that had to be taken care of, and had arisen, as soon as she had made the suspicion of certain Kold Demons, into a clear reality. One which although they were nowhere near willing to accept, there wasn't much that they could have done about it. For the one Kold Demon who had conquered the planet some time ago to kill off the East City refugees that had arrived here, they had watched be beaten down by her.
The two of them had grew in power throughout it all, yet she had never reached the state of her False God transformation, as it hadn't been necessary. There was only so much that the alien was able to take, before one strike could have killed the Kold Demon. Something which would have been a mistake.
For while she and the Kold Demon were essentially no longer allies, the alien having claimed independence some time ago, there was business here to exploit. One which they were still continuing, even after the fact had became clear the Kold Demon was no longer in real control. There was humiliation of course, and spite as well, but a majority was directed at the alien who was meant to be a scapegoat, and who to blame for the takeover that had happened.
It had been at least a good year since the former emperor had disappeared, leaving behind an empire with a vacant seat, and for different beings to take an advantage of the natives here. The first had been the Saiyans, who had come to the planet and not only destroyed a portion of it, but stole the Tree of Might. Then came the Earthling refugees from East City, who mistakenly believed that a race of beings with a history of being xenophobic and high class, were kinder than the slugs that were Namekians, or the Saiyans on the planet that these Earthlings seemed to blame the constant invasions were started by.
Her kind and their recent claim to this planet, completely took the cake in what was likely to be the final interruption. although the differences between the others who had trespassed, was that she was more than willing to work with the natives and comply to their beliefs as much as possible.
At least for the time being. While part of that agreement had started with allowing her kind periods where they could walk around, before being sent back underground and out of sight of the Kold Demons, another had been something she had heard some comments of by the natives, and was further emphasized by the Kold Demon that she had beaten. It was a troubling thing to hear, no matter how true it actually was, although nothing that couldn't have been fixed.
The annoyance came through the smirk that appeared on the alien's face, as she sat on the throne that formerly belonged to the previous emperor, having waited for the Kold Demon to show up for the agreement they had made. It had been several more days since her kind had publicly taken over, given them both a chance to heal from their wounds for what was to come. Time which she spent going around to establish what was meant to be the norm as time passed.
"I must admit, it's delightful to receive this kind of opportunity. Though I suppose it was inevitable with the kind of attention you've wrought upon yourself."
With that kind of polite tone which continued to be a persistent part of the natives of the planet, even after outing them for having a more xenophobic side of themselves, a majority of the Kold Demons still remained to be more than willing to hide their true feelings, until forced to bring it out.
She had risen up from the throne so that she and the alien were seeing nearly eye to eye, a small gap in between them, as they were at the lowest of their own power. Antediluvian might have been the form she had continued to try getting a hang of, in the hopes that it could be something she could maintain for long periods, but it was still her eternally 16 year old body, which she also did tend to be seen in. She was quite a bit taller while the alien was in her First Form, their base power being quite similar in reach. Had it not been for her own potential and persistence, the Kold likely could have surpassed her.
"It's an easy solution, and one which would take less time than you would believe. I'm certain mine is still better than what your kind considers to be official."
The day after they had fought against each other, one of the things that she had been told about, were how throughout their fight, there had been certain moments where she fought like a Kold Demon. Only the thing that made it laughable for the alien and the other natives, were certain shortcomings.
No matter how much she had studied to try and match the movements of those who had been her allies, her approach consistently kept winding down to doing things her way, much like when she had first learned to utilize ki. Learning to fly outside of her bat form, had been through feeling like she was standing down on some kind of force, rather than pushing her ki underneath her. Gathering ki had been through grasping what she pictured to be a center that wished to burst. And there were many other similar approaches to doing things her way that winded up just working for her in what she believed to be the best.
When it came to fighting like the Kold Demons, it was what she believed to be certain applications of force and strength into strikes, and possessing the kind of speed to pull it off. One of the things in particular that seemed to make a Kold chuckle however, was one movement she had, revolved around spinning her body to deliver a punch, to substitute the lack of a tail. It had been her own speed and strength, that made mimicking the behavior of her allies successful, though she wouldn't argue against the idea that it actually might have looked wrong to those who actually knew the style rather well.
"We'll see about that. This will likely be more enjoyable on my end however, than yours."
The posture the Kold Demon carried was so relaxed, as if waiting for something to happen, until all of a sudden, the alien had launched a strike. A fist had came out towards her, although one which was countered by one of her own. There was resistance that came from her as the movement had stopped, the power she was placing into it visibly growing, should anyone feel the air around. Although the alien's continued to remain the same, another smirk appearing as she suddenly moved back a few steps, before swinging her tail with even more power than what she had used to even block the launch that came at her.
"Are you seeing the difference of what you call mimicking this style?"
The question had came with repeated attempts to hit her. Throughout it all, she had both feel and witness just how casual the Kold Demon had approached with her strikes, which grew only stronger when she had believed herself to overpower a strike that was being sent at her. Things that she already knew about, although she primarily substituted with being fast enough to dish out overwhelming power that she knew the alien wouldn't be capable of mimicking herself.
But there must have still been something she was missing, seeing as how the same tail flick was what the Kold Demon had repeated. Something she did mimick as they moved around the room, through spinning around and delivering punches and kicks. The confidence that came from the alien was so noticeably great, there had been more than one occasion where the Kold Demon had briefly closed her eyes, as if she was trying to closely feel the pain they gave each other.
"The force of your own technique is more noticeable."
An answer was something she didn't doubt was expected of her, and a definite one like that, was what she came up with. Which was true. While her own strength could be overwhelming right off the bat, the alien had made her own strikes relaxed at the start, before the force of these blows started coming at her. She could feel the presence of what the strikes had left off in a way which hers was rather quick to disappear, knowing they were meant to immobilize.
This however, seemed more as if there was still toying around. Something she didn't agree with, knowing that kind of mindset was the reason those who should be killed, were likely to get away. The Demons, from what she had seen of their invasion on West City, were just about ready to give up to Galen, even though tehy had her on their side. It might have a secret relationship, but it was existent nonetheless, and one which could be pulled off better.
"Hmph. And what you call our tail attack, lacks a coming force of your body, that isn't obvious."
They stood apart for a moment as what the alien had said was allowed to be sunk into her mind, an idea of what was being talked about, coming towards her. The strikes she made with her fists and legs was what were obvious, since they were movements which could easily be seen by an opponent she fought.
"So something like this then, as a substitute."
Suddenly rushing against the Kold Demon and making a move for a punch she knew could be blocked, her body had spun around, this time expelling out power that came in the form of wind, which struck at the alien in what could have easily been because of a tail. Something which did take the Kold Demon by surprise, as she was struck by the small force that was suddenly expelled. It sent the alien flying back a bit before a grip was taken on the throne floor.
"This still remains to be less quick than what you've implied, but it's progress nonetheless."
What she recognized to be what the Kold Demon considered to be a "Death Beam" was countered with her own belief on how the technique had worked. A thinly veiled beam of ki that targeted the body in a quick manner, with concentrated power packed into the thing. Both their beams had met, and to her eyes, felt no different. But if she really knew how to accurately mimic them beyond some substitutions, she wouldn't even be having this problem here.
Something the Kold Demon knew and seemed to enjoy relishing in, as the power put into each other's attacks, simply blew up and forced some distance between them to occur. Just what was it about this, that could have someone be so cocky, they were so sure that something that seemed was so simple, was wrong?
"I suppose you can't make out the issue with this one either. It's delightfully entertaining."
Like before, the alien had commentated on their practice here, then contiued to pull off the same move over and over, while she mimicked the Kold Demon to try and figure things out herself. It did seem as simple as it could be, with how they both charged the techniques, although the alien had a weaker one.
"It has to do with the power you're putting into yours."
"Correct, but you're best still watching."
Rather than put any real extra power into the beam, the Kold Demon had only fired it at the strength that she had, something which she didn't do, as the stronger opponent in most cases. She supposed there actually was a slight delay in doing so, but did it truly matter when she could handle a few hits?
The sounds of their gasped breaths were starting to fill the room as these first two techniques were seen more and more, neither of them having transformed beyond their base. Speed wasn't something she wouldn't have doubted at all that the alien was capable of, but it was that relaxed approach she didn't agree with. For her, the build up to overwhelming power was something that depended on the situation, and power was usually what kept things from going wrong.
Unexpected and harmless as it was, the sudden approach of a blanket had hit her, a force of something she knew for sure wasn't something that she could easily mimic like the Kold Demon. Not when it seemed as if this was some kind of telekinesis at play here. Which throughout all of the politeness of a Kold Demon, wasn't something which she had really expected. Something of a mental technique like this required a certain mix of intelligence and understanding.
"This technique is quite possibly something you'll just have to substitute for. That blood magic you bloodsuckers are always going on about, could be a good start."
A bit of frustration, or perhaps maybe impatience, had started to hit the alien, as it must have been approaching well above what the Kold really had time to show. Unlike the last two of what she had been showed, there was no particular expelling of power that had actually come from the Kold Demon.
That force used on that blanket was rather silent and unnoticeable, which was something she definitely couldn't have mimicked. Although the alien was certainly right about the use of her blood magic. It was something that mostly aesthetically shaped to her desires, and the rest of the Vampire community. But it was also something that could grant them power, or create some kind of binding contract, knowing what she had gained from biting the Demon Queen.
"You're likely better off attending to other things then."
"I'd say the same to you, if I didn't know of your persistence."
The alien had gone off and walked away, leaving her alone in this palace. They still hadn't really make use of this building as properly as they should, outsie of the celebration she had thrown recently that granted her the strength of a god. But she wasn't likely to be bothered, knowing she had told those closest to her she would be training with Wintera. A sigh had escaped her, knowng the truth in the Kold Demon's words, her eyes glancing down at the blanket, not to actually try and move the thing with her mind, but rather know just exactly what her target here actually was with this last technique.
Her approach to mimicking this style certainly had her own spin on things, and while she had consistently kept ignoring the relaxed approach and substituted it with her own speed, there was an extent it was something that she could truly keep up if she wanted to pull it off. But the only piece of advice given to her, was to essentially use what she had and knew, contradicting a bit of what she had already been shown and told of. At least for this last part.
Her body would begin to blur as she had transformed away from her base, into that of a Matriarch, knowing the form of an Antediluvian was something she had yet been able to grasp. The Kold Demon had expelled her power in a way which that while was obviously connected to the mind, was something she couldn't mimic on a mental approach. So perhaps through the sheer power of what she had, albeit severely suppressed, she'd be able to actually pull it off.
She thougth back to her own style of fighting, which back when she had been a Countess, was what she had so assuredly believed to be the only techniques she needed, if she wanted to overpower any type of being she could ever face. As the best technique she had involved total decimation of everything and everyone, all of her power going into such a thing to ensure that she would wind up killing whoever was unfortunate to be a target of hers.
But this was something different. One of her techniques did involve the suppression of her ki, to the point where it came off like it was nothing more than wind, but it was something which was pushed out quickly, while also growing in power just as well. This had to have been somewhat similar.
Expelling her own power, the blanket had definitely been shoved back, but it was rather clear what a difference it was, even though she did suppress what strength she had. It was too noticeable, which was apart of who she was, but something which the Kolds would mock if she really wanted to use their style.
All of these techniques and trying to perform it, wasn't as tiring as it could have been, but it certainly was something which she knew would have been easier if a Kold Demon had performed, than if an outsider had did. But that was just the thing about analyzing styles for how it worked.
She didn't expect there to not be some kind of substitution, knowing that she didn't have the right genes to pull it off. Though it wasn't as if it was necessary to at least come close to it either. Time had seemed to go by as she tried to gather less and less of her power, something which was made difficult knowing how easy it was to summon forth more. What form she was in didn't matter, as even in her base, she was already pretty strong.
Though the little pushes she gave the blanket through the expelling of her power, seemed to slowly moving through the air so noticeably, the more that she had tried. It wasn't something she'd consider to be telekinesis at all, as while doing all of this, she thought about what she had wanted out of this approach. The magic within her, which wasn't normally visible, continued to remain that way, although she could tell within her body its presence.
It wasn't an accomplishment to really be proud about, and it really was starting to get exhausting now to keep trying, but she did manage to get somewhre today. The question was only how much longer before she was able to fully move like she was a Kold Demon, ignoring some substitutions.
It surely wasn't something she'd quickly master, that was for sure.
