Things went way better than he could have ever hoped for. For Holly to return his feelings and for them to embrace that with almost reckless abandon was something that still made his heart race like crazy whenever he thought about it, about how it started and now how it continued. That afternoon at the hot spring was indeed one of the best memories he would forever carry in his heart. But then again, their stay in Heaven wasn't just a love story. The thing that united them in the first place was their goal of protecting Earth and making sure it would never be destroyed again, and for that to be a reality, they needed to train and improve themselves, they needed to become much stronger than they were and with that in mind, Galen and Holly decided she needed to learn some martial arts. Even though she wasn't one to focus on physical prowess or ki usage in battle, the discipline of this training would allow her to excel in battle even more and this would be most certainly needed.
A good thing was that Galen had the opportunity to train with Master Mutaito and learn his style, which relied on control rather than strength and, oddly enough, also used magic. The first step of the training was severe mediation in order for one to be in sync with their innermost spiritual power and then make their bodies far more resilient to damage. As he had explained to Holly, this technique was nothing but polishing one's will to survive and making them an unrelenting fighting force. If she knew this technique by then, it would be possible she could have survived the attack that took her life.
Therefore, Galen was there, floating with his folded legs, in silence. His ki sensing ability was doing its best to try and track Holly's progress, but it was really hard since her ki signature was so low in comparison to her real abilities. Therefore, he opened one of his eyes to take a peek and he couldn't help but to smile. He loved looking at her. She was beautiful on the outside, yes, but that was not the thing that would bring him this happiness. It was that fact that whenever he looked at her, he was reminded that they were, in a way, together, and that he wouldn't let anything bad happen to her again. He wouldn't fail her ever again.

This had to have been the hardest training that Holly ever had to go through. Meditating and gathering energy was something that she he trained doing her entire life. She had become very good at tuning out distractions and focusing on inner peace. Unfortunately there was one that she hadn’t counted on, and that was Galen.
That moment together at the makeshift hot springs was magical. There was no other way to describe it. It made learning from him simultaneously easier and harder.
On the one hand she trusted him heavily at this point, so she wasn't going to question his methods or anything of the sort. On the other hand, this did make everything much more personal. Which was good for the most part, but it made it harder to focus sometimes.
Holly hovered in the air with her legs crossed. Her eyes were closed, and she was pressing her thumbs and index fingers together. Just because it was harder to focus didn't mean that she wasn't giving it her all. Although it was probably hard to tell with how little he could sense her. She pressed on, doing her best to learn from Galen. And not to open her eyes and stare him all... day? She would have more than enough time to stare at him once they got back, but right now she needed to focus on getting stronger.

In the process of learning [SPE][PT-1] Will to Survive.
He had to admit, those magicians were indeed skilled in learning the more complex arts. Galen took a very long time and some physical training in order to sync his soul to his ki to such a level he could increase his overall resistance to damage, but Holly's progress was happening at a much faster pace. Even though he struggled to sense her ki signature, he could notice the progress. It was getting a bit easier to sense her though, maybe because of their growing connection or something, but he was happy for that. From time to time, Galen would break his own concentration and open one of his eyes to take a peek on Holly and that would make him smile. A few times he had to control himself not to giggle like a fool.
After a few more minutes, he sensed that she had indeed managed to reach the sync needed to master that technique and he allowed his own feet to touch the grass once more. "That's great. I can sense your ki in sync." he stated, taking a few steps towards her. "I really do hope you never have to use it, but if you do, it can save your life. So... How do you feel?" he asked her with a happy tone. "Now I'm afraid the training will become a little harder for you, but in order to grow truly strong, one cannot neglect the physical conditioning." he added after she would've answered his first question, waiting for her to signal that she was ready to proceed.

Holly opened her eyes when Galen spoke to her, still hovering a few feet above the ground. So far the techniques he was teaching her were based on prolonging her life. Which would most certainly come in handy during a tight pinch.
“I imagine that the day will come where I will have to use it. I feel stronger than before already. Although it's difficult for you to tell since ki isn’t what I utilize.”
Holly floated gently to the ground, climbing to her feet and nodding at Galen. She knew that she was going to have to learn a bit of physical attacks from him sooner or later. This was not her strong suit at all. But she was going to have to learn at least a bit of it.
“Well, I shouldn't keep you waiting for eternity. I’m as ready as I’m going to be for this.”
Galen chuckled as he admitted with a nod that he wasn't really good at sensing her progress due to her very low ki signature compared to her real potential. "Hahaha, that's true! But I guess I will have to rely on my other senses to measure your progress! But I guess I'm getting the hang of it, little by little! Hahaha!" and he truly was. With Holly, he learned that relying on ki sensing too much could be very dangerous and led someone to their demise. But as she got ready to get into the more physical training, he nodded once again and slid into the fighting stance of the mutaito school.
The form resembled a bit of the Turtle School and that made perfect sense, as both the Turtle and Crane school started with the Mutaito school, but rather than having a more aggressive stance, or even clenches fists, this school was more inclined towards finesse and control and thus more well-fit for Holly rather than the other styles he knew. And of course, the supplementary techniques that came with the school were also perfect for the Magi and he knew he had chosen well the style he was teaching her. "Alright... This is the main fighting stance of the Mutaito School. It relies on swiftness, precision and finesse rather than explosive strength. I have to admit I don't use it much as this is the style I know that fits me the least, but I think it will suite you well!" he explained, and that should come as no surprise. Galen relied heavily on brute strength and unrelenting speed while battling. "Try to mimic it the best way you can... It won't be perfect right off the bat, but you will grow more used to it!" he added.

"Other senses? What do you mean by that?" As far as Holly knew, the only ways to get a grasp of a Magi's true power was to use a annoying machine to scan their energy, or by observing a magi's combat abilities firsthand. Those were the only two ways Holly knew that her power could to gauged. If Galen had found a third way, then she was going to have to take that into consideration when they got back to Earth. She didn't want others to catch onto it if she could help it.
Holly gradually shifted into the fighting stance Galen displayed to her. Even without actually doing any serious fighting it was apparent how stiff her movements were. Holly had not done that much physical training at all. Still, she looked determined to get this down. Even if she had to go through hell and back she would get stronger.
"We aren't going to get any younger, so lets do this Galen!"
"Other good ways to measure someone's power is by using your regular senses. Once I began my path to become Kami, I developed my eyesight thanks to a technique called Far-Seeing Arts. This technique allows me to watch all over the world from the lookout and far more distant and notice more details. This helps me noticing the small differences in body language that can relate to power. Hearing, though, is the one that helps the most. The sound of the wind in someone moves can help me estimate their speed and speed is usually closely related to the power someone has." he explained with a casual smile as she tried to copy the stance he was showing. "Bend your knees a bit more. Adjust the position of the fingers... Yeah! Just like that!" he instructed as she adjusted the position to better resemble the one from the fighting style.
"Now... The reason we don't clench the fists in this style is because it is aimed to neutralize the opponents rather than to kill. So... The first technique is called Pressure Point Strike and the goal is to, without hurting the opponent, to hit it in a way he won't be able to move." he explained and then he went on straight into demonstrating how it worked. Galen approached with a quick step and with his index and middle finger, he poked a couple spots in the chest and stomach area. The attacks were quick and precise and Holly would soon feel she was unable to move her body for a short period of time due to the attack, but that it didn't actually hurt.
"So, how do you feel?" he asked.

So he had a technique like that at his disposal. The far seeing arts were such a useful tool. And the ease with which he used his senses was incredible too. She was glad that she got to know him.
“I’ve never heard of anything like that before. But it makes a lot of sense. So, like this, right?”
Holly followed Galen’s instructions to a tea. It was tough for someone who had never stretched out before, but she managed to pull it off. Galen explained the basics of his next technique to her. She didn’t expect to be used to demonstrate it though. Holly let out a startled cry as she felt Galen’s finger poke at her. She tried to move her body but at it did was twitch a bit.
“I feel numb... Galen, how long does this move last?”
Her cry was of being startled, not of pain and then her whole body was paralyzed by his precise and swift poke. Holly seemed a bit apprehensive with how long it would last, but Galen chuckled, trying to make her feel relaxed. "Doesn't last very long, you should be fully functional within seconds. It's not a deadly move, but it can open up your opponent's guard enough so you can choose a different course of action. Be it delivering an ending blow, knocking them out or even... Sealing them away." and his smirk widened when he mentioned the sealing away, as this was indeed what this school was ultimately about.
Once she was moving again, Galen stood in front of her and nodded. "Now you. Try to paralyze me with the technique." he instructed her.

Galen had been right: it didn't last for too long. Holly’s fingers twitched, the numbness beginning to fade. Soon after that she was able to move again. She moved her hand to where Galen had struck her, pressing her palm against her dress.
“My word, that is quite the fearsome technique. It's a bit unsettling to lose control of your faculties. I'm still not used to physical attacks, but I shall master this.”
Holly strode over to where Galen was. She pressed her index and middle fingers together, getting a feel for the technique. She quickly did a couple of quick pokes to Galen. She still felt where he had hit her, so she had a good idea where the pressure points were from that.
Galen quickly nodded. "I don't mean to lecture you, but I am teaching you martial arts so... A battle is not just about dominating your opponent through power and skill, but also to exert some mental and psychological control over them. Although I dislike it, fear and impotence are feelings we can exploit in our opponents. And this technique also serves this purpose." he explained with a serene tone to his voice as he allowed himself to lower his guard entirely so Holly could explore the technique with no resistance from his side. "This technique requires no physical strength. It's entirely based on precision and swift movement. It shouldn't be hard for you to master such technique. I'm sure you handle way more complex stuff with your spells and incantations." he smiled, trying to incentive and support his girlfriend.
Then, without further due, Holly approached and with some quick pokes with her index and middle finger, she hit the pressure point. He felt the shock running down his nervous system and freezing his body completely. He grimaced lightly and then he chuckled; he would've nodded in approval if he could move. "G-good job! Y-you did it on your first try!" he complimented her. "I... I guess we can take a short break now... As soon as I'm able to move! Hehe..." he added.

Holly waved her hand dismissively at Galen. A little bit of her more privileged mindset showed through. Not to mention she had been dead for God knows how long. She wanted to get back once she had improved her abilities a bit. So it was reasonable to believe she was a bit eager to learn things she didn't know.
“You’re telling a Magi that there's more to physical fighting? Magic is all we focus on, remember? But there is truth in what you say, I will grant you that. Still, it will prove difficult to manage with how fast fights can be.”
Fortunately his technique didn't require her for her to punch through a brick wall. It was pressure point technique, which fit with the level of control she preferred. She succeeded when she hit him, but Galen looked like he was in a bit of a pinch. Frowning, she moved forward until she was right next to him.
“Are you okay? Hopefully you’ll be able to move to take a break. I pray that I didn't strike your points too hard.”
Luckily the stun of the pressure point attack didn't last for very long, unlike the Gravity Break technique or the continuous use of the Thunder Shock Surprise. His body slowly got rid of the numbness. "Fights are indeed fast paced. This style focus on giving you tools to improve your chances without needing to get very close, and should the enemy get too close, you can hit their pressure points and stun them! Hehe... It's quite the resourceful style." he said as he felt his toes and fingers tingling and then the tingling sensation quickly spread through his body until he was once again able to move. The human sighed in relief; even though it was just training, it was still very annoying to be paralyzed.
"I'm good! I can already move again, see? Haha... It's just... Well, I don't think anybody likes to be paralyzed, but it's part of the training!" he said in a light-hearted tone. Galen approached Holly as she approached him, now that they were taking a break from the training and took her hand gently. "So... I heard back from King Kai, and he agreed to choose the two of us as the representatives of North Galaxy in the Afterlife World Martial Arts Tournament! Excited?" he asked, breaking the news to Holly.

Galen had recovered surprisingly quickly. She gave the other human a smile of relief. She knew he would be fine, but still had worried that she had perminantly hurt him. Given their relationship thpugh, she supposed it was only natural to worry about him.
“If I can end the battle quickly without them pressing too hard or draw them in so I can use this technique on them, then this will be worth learning. I’m glad it doesn't work for too long though. I would have hated seeing you stuck like that.”
Holly smiled gently at Galen as he took her hand in his own. These intimate moments were something she appreciated from him. Despite their passionate moment he hadn't pushed for anything. And it looked like things were about to get interesting.
“At the very least my curiosity is piqued. A tournament with other fighters from the afterlife. I imagine they will be quite strong, since there are many candidates up here to select from.”
Galen nodded. "I'm expecting very strong fighters. I don't know all of them, but I heard that Rensu was also invited, and that is one strong saiyan. I was teaching him how to fight properly and... Well... He was already surpassing me even though I didn't finish teaching him... And the form he can achieve is the same Cornatto-sensei and Master Jie could achieve, the Super Saiyan 2. It's mad strong... I wonder if even I would be able to defeat him, hehehe..." he said, widening his smile and turning it into a smirk. "Although... I do have some new thing up my sleeve that I didn't show anyone yet. I managed to find a way to increase my power a bit more! I don't know if I can ascend past it, thus I decided to call it MAX Power. Hehehe... Lame, right?" he said, scratching the back of his head in mild embarrassment.
In any case, before he could say anything else, a small, chubby creature with blue skin and round shades approached. "Galen, my boy! So this is the girl you were talking about all the time, uhn? She is really pretty indeed!" the creature said, making Galen freeze and turn to red immediately.
"K-KING KAI?! D-don't go on saying that out loud!" he exclaimed, burning red, and the shinjin just laughed at his embarrassment, not really minding it too much as he slowly approached Holly with a kind smile on his face.
