Power.
No matter how much she held of it, there were certain things in the world that were out of her control. Something that having power was supposed to have prevent, but failed to do so. Each and every time when she had woke up, she was reminded of what she couldn't change, no matter just how much power she really held. Power had its consequences, and for a Vampire, the life of an ageless being brought with it all sorts of things, the more she gained it.
The transformations that she had gone through, left her feeling differently about the world, and just how much she could have really tolerated others. Becoming a permanent Antediluvian, marked her as the most fitting Queen of Vampires, with what power was always surging through her.
There could be plenty of happiness within her, something that not all of those around her had really shared, but also just as many moments of being tired of the world. Able to smile here and there, acting sympathetic like a person should in a given scenario, but not truly feeling that way.
Those who didn't know of her, wouldn't be able to tell, as the transformations she held, could carry with it a burning passion within her eyes. Looking into those crimson orbs, had varied from form to form, but present in them was a glow akin to different levels of burning light. An Antediluvian like herself, it was rather easy to pick out the intent behind these eyes, as the intensity was like that of a roaring fire at who she looked at.
She could hide how she truly felt this way if she had wanted, and most wouldn't see more than what could make Vampires captivating in the first place. Though doing such a thing, was nothing more than something of the past now. Remnants of who she had used to be, when she was a newer Vampire.
Dull and normal, was more often not what she had really showed now. Even the night during her ritual, where she had confirmed what her allies had told others, she hadn't really needed to strike that kind of intention behind her eyes. Rather than because she was incapable, it was change.
All of this power within her, and just from becoming a permanent Antediluvian, brought with it a lot of things regarding moving on in life. A desire to do so, yet also fighting against what frequent loneliness she could feel on so many days. Possessing power couldn't rid herself of this feeling.
And whether or not it was a consequence to her power, or something true to herself, it was difficult to say. She only knew that what she felt continued to persist, and there wasn't a chance to move away from it, for a long while. Two years had already gone by, where she had hoped it could have.
But it still remained, and there were reasons for it. Waking up on a day to day basis, she found herself feeling restless, from all of the energy within her, waiting to be exerted. Something that made it easier to tolerate the world, knowing what felt like the essence of her soul, could normally feel so exhausted. But it was this abundance of energy, that also made it easy to really think back and unwillingly embrace that feeling of loneliness.
The act of lying in bed itself, on these days where she slept alone, not even wrapping her arms around herself, could rid the persistence of what it really meant to be held. And trying to leave the bed itself, she only found herself lingering as she sat up, back pressed up and close to the wall.
It was the little things like these, and the slight sense of cold, that somewhat brought her comfort. This position, whether sat up like this, or stood up, easily poked at her desire to be held. It pressed into her neck in just the right ways, but these were still only just small moments.
Her hair was something she usually let down, rather than tie up, with exceptions coming from times when she had decided to work out. Today held nothing else really in store for her to cater to, and she would once again take her time in really staying within the palace itself, rather than elsewhere.
Though even the pull that came from making the efforts of straightening out her hair, had given her reminders here and there, of one side of her. There were two kinds of happiness that were within her reach, yet one often felt like it was so far, no matter how many times they could be around together.
The first few stages of the morning had passed pretty easily, with no real importance on her mind. She had an assortment of allies that left at different periods of times, rather than at the same time and all together, giving only really a few glimpses of them, but still enough time to talk and listen.
She didn't request for any of them to stay behind, nor did they really have a need to. A lot of things were going on with her, but it was a different kind of solitude, to be in one of the rooms within the palace, that they had made into a training room. So many things within this palace was larger in size than what she was used to. A better gravity machine was really needed than what Earth could provide, but at this kind of level, they were useless anyway.
Few people even close in coming to this level of power, could really be allowed on this planet, without coming off as some kind of threat. It was too presumptuous to even assume she'd be interested in mere power, when the best thing to do as a being with one, was cut down the competition.
Escape from the afterlife, she knew wasn't easy, and sending them there for awhile, was all she really needed with certain individuals. There was a difference in the air as the door had shut behind her, and warmth had filled up the room. The feeling of becoming a False God, like a lot of things dealing with ki, had similarities here and there with the transformations that she had lost. A certain pull of power, from what felt like a limitless source, and unlike the form of an Antediluvian, there was nothing weighing her down from continually grabbing at it. Something that left a certain 'hold' on her.
It felt like the lightest of touches traced over her body, paired together with just how assured she was, that she could take on anything while in this form. The feel of this alone was something she could access so freely, and even when they were apart, the ki sensing within this form, made her really feel like they were walking together. There was no loneliness here, no troubles, and everything here couldn't have been mistaken for anything but happiness.
She walked around under any lack of extra gravity, beyond the planet's own natural one. It was easier to actually have someone to work out with, but it had been too frequently lately, how much she had thought of more darker things. This solitude, it was really fine for what it was. Again and again, surpassing the limits of this form, was the very thing that she had aimed to do, keeping track here and there on just how much it felt like she was practicing.
Scouters had their limits of being unable to read power that was over five hundred thousand, and everything since gaining this form, had been all guesswork. How much damage she could take from the others, of their strongest attacks, before it had even felt like she might have died if they went further.
Things could feel so similar, and there were so many factors that played a role. How much the others were able to handle, if she was the one who didn't fight much. It could only be estimated, rather than pinpointed, whether or not the time limit with this form, had even anything to do with exertion.
The way to overcoming it, only the sheer growth of power, was what she could think of. The King of Saiyans, who was supposedly stronger than her. Whether or not he really even held this kind of weakness, she wanted to believe that he had overcame it, if the few individuals like them, were able to even grasp this kind of power. It meant that it was a possibility that this weakness was temporary, but she wasn't willing to find out on a more personal level.
Not if there might have been a large gap between them, that only drinking his blood could overcome. The first few minutes she had already spent within this form, was only filled with light walking, her eyes closed. The light touches her fingers made across the wall, as she guided herself around the room, felt like little embraces. Lingering ones that seemed so present around her elbows and shoulders, as if she really was being held by someone.
It was a small comfort, but what she had needed to really kick things off. So much power within this form, and everything about it felt like it could have been perfect. What punches and kicks she threw around, she knew there could have been so much more force put into it. But these strikes were basic in the first place. She had no target in sight to aim at, and just about anyone she could think of really killing, she wouldn't have felt strongly about.
The only thing she was left with, were just the practice of the techniques that she had knew of, enjoying the power of this form for as long as she could have. Those first few punches and kicks were light, but like with any amount of physical exertion, she could feel the effort from striking at the air.
What little there had been, the kind of pain from it went away, as if this form was able to rid of what she didn't like. Two years of fighting with this form, yet she still hadn't reached a breaking point. She couldn't even tell how close she was, with no other measures around her. But this form she doubted was meant to be for everyone. Godly ki all around, and giving a mortal the powers that could rival a god? It could harm the mortal level if anything.
There were gasped breaths here and there, as she moved around this training room, sticking to the techniques and movements that she knew to be purely physical. Some of them were more arduous than others, but that was just the point of it all. To go and see just how much she could handle while within this form. It was all a lot of work, but whatever pain she felt acted as if it was licked away by the aura of this form, and allowed her to push on.
There was such a difference between practicing like this or against someone, and doing something as simple as push ups and sit ups. Those things could only get so far for someone of this level. She was able to work up a bit of a sweat from all this, but it was still nowhere near the kind of exertion that she was meant to do in a daily basis. Most of the others were going to be busy all day unless she visited them personally, so there wasn't much she could do but wait. The movements of these more physical techniques of hers, she felt more than familiar with in this form, even if most didn't belong to her.
A lot of things about accessing this power, made the world so different, and she wanted so badly to overcome its limits. The feel of what it was like to reach its end, she could always tell just when it was coming, and everything that she had lost when it was gone. She still had access to it, that was what should have really mattered. But it still left her feeling as if something had been 'pulled' away from her, losing all of that strength.
What pain she had felt from exerting herself, always came all at once as well, in the form of her muscles feeling sore. It wasn't as bad as it could be, that much she knew, as she was able to still walk around and bear through it. But what practice she had here, she was essentially done with.
Better wasn't what she'd say she had felt. Though this also wasn't all just something to pass the time either. Coming here had been to do what was supposed to be routine for her, and knowing that although she wouldn't get anywhere without the others, she could at least feel the power of that form again.
It was a world of differences, and one that slipped away too easily for her liking. Her hand was on the door knob when she had noticed the presence of a certain Vampire on the other side, remaining ever still from the feel of things. It didn't stop her from opening the door though, where she came face to face with her oldest 'daughter' of the three she had. The Bio-Android turned Vampire, was the kind of event that was undeniably ridiculous.
But with so many scientists having their own creations, when it came to releasing Bio-Androids onto the worlds, it should have only been expected that she'd find one of these sub-labs, just to make one of her own. And then sire this creation, knowing how rare of a thing that was, for someone of her power to do.
Most Vampires tended to be by some coven leader of Refined Control, rather than anyone significant. She had only bitten one other person, who if had actually trained, she was sure could have proven to be an Antediluvian given the time. Her power might not have been much back then, but it was still hers.
"Mother, you're tense."
For many, it would have been a strange thing to see her eldest, knowing that despite being turned into a Vampire, her body resembled that of a mantis. The face was human for the most part, but what made it noticeable was how there was a clear resemblance, that this could have been her actual daughter.
One who held a knack of worrying too much, even if things weren't as bad as it had been several years ago. It was like an obsession, before she had trained the amalgamation enough to have better control of herself. To gain a kind of independence that was separate from thoughts regarding her own wellbeing.
"I'll manage fine. The past week has been rough, but maybe it's a sign of something great."
Back then, her creation would have paused after addressing her in concern, feeling more hurt than it really should have, at the simplest of things. It would have gotten into the minds of certain others, to mistakenly believe that pushing the girl to become independent, was some kind of bad parenting.
But their will was too weak, if they were so willing to believe that someone with different and alien dna, wouldn't be able to get over this upbringing. The Vampire was really only a few years old, but that accelerated growth that came from once being a Bio-Android, had its uses.
She knew so many people that she could have really talked to, though few of them really had words that meant anything to her anymore. Even her own, she couldn't find herself believing in the idea that her mood lately, was some kind of display regarding the progress she was trying to sought out.
The only thing that was certain for her, was that she wanted to solve the issue of that form's time limit. It was only then could she start to consider herself to be on par with the gods. Her words had hung in the air as they walked together, passing back into the halls and towards the living room.
A bit of an urge welled up inside of her, knowing that although it was different in the sense of size, what they had designated as the living room, had managed to mean something for her over the past couple of years. The idea behind how one could past the time beyond TV or video games, it appealed to her.
"Do you wish to talk about it?"
"I do, but in a way I'll be able to appreciate."
Whatever her creation had been thinking in that head of hers, a question had finally came with a request for permission, as they stopped near one of the sofas. She was still sore in certain parts of her body, but this feeling of pain was so akin to many other times within this room. The Vampire's forearm was something she had reached out for, no hesitance being shown from her creation, as she had took a bite on where the veins would have normally be.
What blood usually filled their bodies, came from a variety of different sources. It wasn't their own, yet they were capable of holding onto any as Vampires. The smallest pierce into her creation's skin, brought with it the smell of sweetness, which was accurate to the taste of the blood itself.
With the mouthful she had drank up, it wasn't something comparable to being in a healing tank, but it was unnecessary for something that would have naturally passed with time. Moving became easier, just enough to lead the scaled arm of the Vampire to the center of the room.
"I haven't gotten any better."
"Then you'll lean on me, and try to hover a little."
They had danced occasionally before in the past, something that had been a different kind of experience for her eldest, knowing her first year of existence had been working on becoming independent. But while this wasn't modern dancing, there wasn't anything to really dislike about waltzing.
It could take some time to really get a hold of, and it would have been easier if they were hovering in the first place. Though the appealing thing with this form of dancing in the first place, came from not only the close proximity, but the feeling of how it was like hovering in the air.
There was no real change in her mood begging to form some kind of smile, but the tune she had in mind to play, was meant to hold that kind of mood in the air, even if what she had wished to talk about wouldn't be. That was just the thing that made it interesting. Of course this wasn't going to just change her mood. She recognized that what she had wanted was meant to, but what she was dealing with in the first place, it had persisted with her for a reason.
Leaving her creation's side for a moment, the music had began as she sped back, not hesitating in wrapping her arms around her eldest. They were pretty close together in height, but there was a reason why beyond even coming up with the project, that she was the obvious mother within this relationship.
"Well like I've said, the past week has been rough. Not just because there seems to be no progress in removing that form's limits."
It wasn't really on a day to day basis, that she had been in these moods, but it felt like it. No matter how much she had wanted to, she couldn't have just taken days off and just stay within the palace. The idea that the others didn't really need her around, was just too much of a presence that settled onto her mind. She planned to outlive them, and yet they had this kind of profound effect on her. Something that made her want to continue to work.
Not planning to even do so today, just like those other days she had taken off, did leave her with a sense of longing, but it couldn't beat out everything else that she was feeling. Being here on this planet, and just what it had meant for them in the future. She had people standing by her, and could recognize that they were, but it didn't strike her as being something of value, compared to certain other things. A reoccurring issue that there was a chance ridding herself of that form's time limits, would wind up curing. To be in that form as long as she could have, would have made things so different.
"How much do you think you and Rukiki mean to me? I've always gone on about my nightmares regarding you and the others."
Her eyes might have been closed, but she still danced with her creation to the rhythm of this joyful song, which held a state in her ears and mind of being both something appreciative, and also mocking. Smiling was no trouble for her anymore. She was a permanent Antediluvian. A state that was only achievable through outside magic. Whatever dulls were in life, they weren't meant to keep her from showing emotion, like it really had when she became a Matriarch.
But it was the feeling put into that kind of action, that was normally lacking for her. She could find herself enjoying conversations and all fine, recognizing what she was meant to do, though it didn't mean as much to her as people would think of. Vampires had their charms. To believe that someone with her kind of power, could really have any issues beyond the idea of some approaching war, wasn't something that others could manage to grasp at all.
It was just so easy for them to go and declare that people with power they didn't have, were just going to go around killing. But just what did they think would happen, when just about everyone had godly ki? That the universe was going to somehow achieve more peace than there was without the Demons?
The Queen of Earth and the swordsman were still dead, as far as she could tell from what godly ki sense held, but it was pretty obvious it was the absence of the Demon leaders that stopped any fighting from happening, beyond the warning of the deities showing that they would be watching over things.
"Your nightmares were always something I feared, more than what the others could have felt. My first memory had been of your voice. But with these transformations, I wish to believe I'm right when I say a lot."
Like before, there was a bit of a pause before the Vampire had actually answered her, and within that time her head had rested against her creation's shoulder. The presence of having the amalgamation so close to her, she had really felt out the signature, as if it could be carved into her memory more than it already was. A lot of people meant something to her, and it was reasonable coming to learn that those she sired had a special quality to them.
But could she really say that they really had that kind of value to her? They were meant to. She had recognized that. Though there were little differences among each of those she knew, and just how long she was able to 'hold' onto the feeling of the ki signature that they had gave off of them.
They could have actually stopped by her creation's own doing, knowing just how serious of a topic this must have been, from someone who considered them to be related. Though the dancing continued on without being interrupted, the music only growing to sound even more mocking to her ears.
"That's just the thing. You're right, but it's times like these where I'm able to think about all the faults of life, rather than talk to the people around me. The others seem 'busy' because I'm not with them and just here. But I was the one who chose to stay here."
Her words was something meant to have hung in the air, being an obvious intention as she slowed down her pacing with their dancing, eyes opening up to stare off at the wall. It was so easy to really listen to the playing music, but not so much in trying to have it feel like it was anything more than that.
"There's a bit of a difference in us being able to talk alone like this, than if I wasn't taking a day off. You're similar, but still different from the kind of back and forth that I'm capable of having with Cryonia."
Letting go of her creation, had been the indication that they were done with this dancing, the music continuing to play on loop, but something that she was starting to drown out. In the end, being that close with the Vampire had its similarities to the others, but it didn't really stick out to her.
There were people out there, couples, who used the metaphor of being an anchor, to describe the other. Something that was meant to indicate that in some kind of white void or otherly world, they'd be able to find each other because of how familiar they were. Maybe even snap away from some kind of decision. The smell of blood was something that could be intoxicating for them, so there was generally no mistake when they decided to kill someone.
It was only through the eyes of others, did they really ever did any wrongs, and it was a fact that she kept juggling back and forth with in her mind. From what Wintera had said, that Kold Demon was too self-assured to have really been afraid of the threat she had made. One so many individuals often believed that she would take seriously with how little they knew of her. She could go on and on about how truly tired of life she felt, but the only thing they'd be able to hear and see was that she had more power than them. And for that, it was easy to label her as someone who killed just about anyone.
It brought her back to the idea of just what made working with the Demons appealing in the first place. Wanting to not be targeted by them, and also staying out of the way enough to have them either kill the Humans, or the Humans kill them. Something obvious to her, but like her own persistence and thoughts of life, so many just couldn't see it. It took a lot of maturity to stop killing like she had when she was a younger Vampire. Though age just didn't matter to them. It always went back to the fact that there was a gap in power between her and most of these individuals that had appeared out of nowhere.
The idea that she wanted to kill them, just because she had power, rather than manipulate and use them, it was just so ingrained into their heads. They couldn't see past anything else. She would have to talk nicely to even drill something other than that in their thoughts. Because there was just no such thing as a real Villain. Anyone who had power and used it wrong in the eyes of the others, would just wind up being marked for death by someone.
This planet was so obviously meant to be hostile, but the idea that security on each planet hadn't changed, since they became aware of the mortal level, was just beyond ridiculous. Earth had their Red Ribbon Army, and all these protocols going on, even during the absence of their Queen.
Though it was obvious all of what she had saw during her time of Earth, was just what the blonde had envisioned in the first place. It was just people with power like her, that got all of the attention. There was no being anything but some justice of good, or hell would rain down on them, more than the Demons and their queen were going to. The reason why people like them, were just marked for death, daring to even be different, no matter how temporary.
"Some days ago, I went to talk to the locals within Republic. They listened and gave ideas, about just what she was supposed to mean to me. Different from you and the others could ever be, was where it should be after two years. I really fought on what to do with the Demons when they invaded too, and it was the only question I came up with an answer for."
The music blared in and out of her ears for her, some parts seeming to be louder than it really should have, as she led the amalgamation to actually sit down into the sofa. There was a lot of things that she had already said, that she didn't really give the Vampire much time to respond to.
But as far as she could really tell, the girl was thinking anyway. Little habits she recognized of herself, with how her lips could purse, or when she tucked away a strand of hair behind her ear. She was thinking as well, but talking made it so easy to hide, knowing just what she wanted to say.
"Though they're not what's really important. I can't come up with an answer on how much a lot of things, not just people, really mean to me anymore. I'm positive everyone else in relationships are doing better. Have their happy ending. But where's mine? I shouldn't have to keep feeling like this, being alone, knowing you and the others will be gone."
She had just about enough with the music playing, pulling away from the natural lean her creation had towards her, as someone who thought of herself as a daughter spending time with her mother. The music had shut off like when it had been first turned on, speeding away so naturally to do so before returning.
There were a lot of things that could have really described her mood, down to the way how the tune of the music now stuck in her head, yet even being in there, couldn't have made her feel the kind of mood that it had represented. She was upset and exhausted. Something more familiar to her than anything.
"It doesn't seem like I can say anything to really ease your worries. But myself and the others have noticed your behavior. You've always seemed stronger, able to overcome and look past what others think. Outsiders might ignore our presence elsewhere, but remember that this planet belongs to us. Any fear the locals show, it's as you've always said. Even when given accommodation and their own city, they can't see past their own beliefs."
All things that she had already knew of, and that she was aware she needed to hear from more than just herself. She gave the Kold Demons their own city, and the idea that one she had met during her ritual might have been more afraid than he had led on? He was a fool if he couldn't see what they gave.
It was an annoying thing, for idiots here and there to be afraid, even when offered those kind of things. Words had their own value, but that Kold would have been seen as nothing but a bawling baby, if he was so afraid of her, despite giving his kind the isolation they looked for in the first place.
"What you can call a happy ending will come, I'm sure of it. Just break past the limits of that form, like the others and I know you can do."
The sudden hug she was pulled in, was cool to the touch due to those scaled arms, and she tried to memorized the feeling, while thinking about those words.
