That Houri was eager to learn was a understatement, everyone on the base knew, what most of the people around the place did not knew however was the kid’s innate ability to learn and develop. Sure he was dumb as a brick at the moment, however that was completely normal for someone as Vulpeca would usually say, lived under an actual rock during most of his life.
If not for the Demon fox, his education would not develop any further from illiteracy as it has been developing so far. In just a matter of weeks, he had learned to read, to write, even how to use a computer like a normal person, no hacking skills, just opening emails and checking the news across the universe. And although Vulpeca did not knew, he had opened one of the many doors in Houri’s life, he had opened the door that lead to knowledge and curiosity.
What would come out of it now? Well, it is about to unfold.
Since he began to stay at Nakiya’s base, Houri had changed in a variety of ways, not just physically but mentally as well. If someone were to compare who he was back in the time he roamed the wastelands, to who he was now, they would only state that they are just two different kids. One a beggar from the lowest class of Saiyans and the later a Prince or someone from the elite, and although the changes were visible due to his wardrobe and his astounding growth in power, some changes were more subtle, like his new found curiosity over Nakiya’s lab and how it worked, about science and even the space.
It was that curiosity, which prompted the kid to beg for almost a week for Vulpeca to show him the lab and teach him how it worked. Of course, not only Vulpeca fell victim to him and his unending thirst for knowledge. Nakiya too was dragged along the nagging and asking part, since the kid needed to learn and she was the only one with access and the know how over the science section.
After much effort however, Vulpeca agreed to set up a meeting with Nakiya and take him in a tour, and that was why Houri not only had his best armor up, but also managed to find some glasses without correction degrees in the lenses. He found it made him look smarter, fit for a scientist.
He was waiting for Vulpeca and Nakiya at home with another thing he spent the night making, fried rice buns filled with cheese. Something his mom had taught him to do and he thought would do great for lunch, he just hoped that the demons were going to like it.
As the door rang the kid said in his usual excited voice.
- Coming! –
- Hello Mr Vulpeca, how do you do? I am ready for today! -
Vulpeca opened the door after knocking ans walked into Houri's little apartment within the base. It was slowly gaining more and more character the longer Houri lived here, but it still remained bare for the more part. The kitchen was now a messy disaster after Houri had apparently cooked something. He didn't bother questioning it, instead only flashing a grin down towards the kid. He would snerk as he noticed the glasses, raising an eyebrow.
"Why the heck are you wearing glasses? You look ridiculous" He would laugh, though he smiled and just shook his head at the kid. He really didn't know what to make of him sometimes, some of the stunts he pulled was just beyond him!
Vulpeca would smirk as he led the way out of Houri's apartment, and would lead the way through the many corridors to a large sealed room. He would wait there patiently, until the giant metal double doors slid open, and Nakiya stepped onto the threshold. She would look between Vulpeca and Houri, and her gaze would remain on the child for long moments.
"I agreed to this on one condition. Everything you see here, stays here. You say a word to anyone, and I will find out, and I will kill you." Nakiya threatened seriously. She would cross her arms as she looked down at Houri seriously.
"Even if you don't understand it, this is my research, and it's not to leave this base." She was taking a huge gamble showing this to Houri, as he was one of the few allies she had who wasn't under the influence of the corrupted water. He seemed innoncent enough, and loyal to her because she ahd taken him in... but still, Nakiya had major trust issues when she couldn't force one's loyalty, like she could with Vulpeca.
"Am I clear?" She would clarify, waiting for a yes or no from the child. She wouldn't even comment on his goofy glasses, just chocking it up to youthful foolishness.
- Hey Mr Vulpeca! Nice to see you, and the glasses are for SCIEEEENCE! Haha I thought it would look funny, and make me smarter, clearly a failure. –
Houri would laugh as he took the glasses off and glanced at the kitchen with his face telling more than he would say. A look that says I will clean this up later. With that in mind and clearly excited, Houri grabbed his bag and stared walking around the corridors of the base while talking with Vulpeca.
- Anyway, it is nice to see you after some time, like really see you, not Nakiya in disguise! Anyway, how is the arm? Jarvis hurted you pretty bad because of me, and I am still sorry about that. –
As the pair would eventually come across the double doors, Houri stated with admiration while looking at the place.
- Wow seriously, this place is awesome, did you found it or built it?
- And Vulpeca, before we go in I have to tell you, I am glad you did not drank from that water too you know, it was weird, and there is one more thing.
- I do not believe in easy methods to get stronger, so I would never drink that or do anything to gain a power that I do not earned and conquered by myself, I guess I would not respect myself. –
After Nakiya opened the door however the subject died out as she started to instruct him in how secret the base and the research was, and as she talked, Houri complemented what she said with his own thoughts.
- You won’t have to kill me, the only people I like here are Vulpeca and You so you have my word I will not tell anyone, besides, I am not the kind to do gossip, and people really do not like me that much after the palace thing. –
Houri at first just listened to her, he really did not liked being threatened, but that was just the way Nakiya was, he could smell that she was not bad or mean, just, defensive in her own way. With that in mind, he opened his bag and took out a small plastic box filled to the brim with his special food.
- Also, I know how important this is to you ok, you made Vulpeca so, I guess this is something very complicated and very special to you, so I feel actually very happy that you are willing to show it to me, and that is why I made you this! Actually it is all for us, but I think you will like it best. –
The food was a deep fried mixture of cheese enveloped by rice with some spices, it was simple to do, but it was how the spices were added and how long it was fried that added the real taste to it, Houri gave it to Nakiya while stating.
- I know the lab might not be a very food welcome place but, you are always here and I think, sometimes you might forget to eat, so I think this special occasion ask for something special to eat. Also it is better eat them while they are warm and the cheese is melting. –
Houri was that, special in his own way, throwing jabs at people’s hearts without even realizing it.
"It wasn't a failure at all, I laughed didn't I?" Vulpeca asked the kid with a smirk on his face as they walked towards the lab. While it didn't make him look smarter, it did make him look goofy as hell, and a much needed comic relief in the base. When they got to the entrance of the lab, Houri mentioned that he was glad Vulpeca didn't drink the Corrupted water and the fox demon just smirked, placing his hand on Houri's head as he always did.
"I"m a demon, so I would have been fine drinking it, but you shouldn't eat or drink anything from the Demon Realm. Alright? That water isn't just a cheap way to get stronger, it had other effects too. For example if you drank it, you would start turning into a creepy half demon and grow scales, and a third eye!" He would tease Houri, laughing at the prospect of a tentacle demon Houri. It was ridiculous, but as the door opened he lost his laugh, and tilted his head in acknowledgment to his master.
Nakiya's eyes would remain on Houri as he spoke, nodding her head gently as he rationalized with her, assuring her that he had no reason to tell anyone at all about her experiments, let alone her base as a whole. She would nod once more, ready to turn around to walk into the lab but stopped when Houri handed her the small plastic box.
"What's this?" She would asked in suspicious curiosity. She would open the container as Houri explained it to her and raise an eyebrow as she looked at the food. What was she looking at exactly? She'd never eaten anything that looked like this and grew quite curious. She would close the plastic box however before looking towards Houri.
"Thank you, that's very thoughtful. Lets get to the control room, and we can have these, alright?" She would say as she would turn around and lead the way back into the lab.
the control room wasn't too far off of the main door. It was a large circular room with all sorts of computers lining the walls. One wall had a thick, curved glass window that looked into a several chamber that housed several test tubes. Inside the tubes, there were varying stages of different creations. One of them was in the early staged of it's creation, no bigger than her fist and still not resembling any kind of creature. The next tube seemed to be in it's infancy, a small dog like creature with scales and a flat tail. The rest had more adult versions of different creatures that Houri would have probably never seen before. Each of them were chimeras, created from various demonic DNA such as vulpeca was. The only difference between Vulpeca and these creations, was that Vulpeca was meant to be a perfect demon, while these were to be guards.
There was a table on the back wall covered with all sorts of papers and scrolls. Nakiya would walk over and grab an armful of her stuff, moving it onto a chair that she pulled out of the way. Instead she would place the little box of rice balls on the table for them to eat.
"Make sure you don't touch anything. If you do, let me know right away so I can fix it. But, this is the control room to my lab. I can see everything from here and work on most of my projects at the same time." She would start to explain, reaching for a rice ball and hesitantly nomming at it.
- I am happy just with my tail! Thank you haha, no scales or horns for me, it does not work with my fashion sense. –
Houri would laugh at the tease while just waggling his tail around showing his appreciation over the furry appendage. As Naikya walked the boy thru the lab point him how important was not to touch or if he perhaps touched something warn her at once, the kid in a show of respect put his arms around his back and wrapped his tail around them as if binding them while stating.
- There, there are fewer chances of me bumping into buttons this way –
With a smile and caution he watched everything around him with almost a glow of wonder in his eyes stating as he watched the controls and the tubes.
- Wow! So this is where babies come from, right Vulpeca? Naikya, you were born in one like these or a custom one, since you are a princess… I mean now a Queen, but were a princess once. -
As he looked at the creatures, he wondered if they all were the same one, copies, or different ones in stages of incubation, and as he pondered on that, another question came to his mind. One which prompted him to ask while asking for a pen and paper.
- Mr Vulpeca, can I get something to write down some notes? –
- Nakiya, do these creatures in the tubes, are they the same species, like copies, what do we call them? Also you make them right? How do you do them? They think or feel while inside the tubes? –
While normally Houri would laugh and have fun watching everything, his demeanor now had changed to a more serious one, notes where made in a terrible calligraphy due to lack of practice. However the kid was taking that lesson as seriously as his regular physical training, and that was not just for show, it was actually quite his intent, to learn. By stopping close to the creature in scales Houri pondered.
- Is this a dragon? Also, do dragons only exist in the demon realm or is there are dragons in other planets too? -
Vulpeca couldn't help but smirk as Houri waved his tail about, content to only have that to worry about instead of scales and horns. It couldn't be all that bad to have some extra armor on you! Though, he wouldn't say anything, falling silent as he followed the group. He'd manage to steal a cheesy rice ball once Nakiya had one, munching on it quietly as Houri assured Nakiya that he wouldn't touch anything.
However, whenever Houri spoke next, about this is where babies came from, Vulpeca would chuckle, causing him to start choking on the rice ball as he did. His body couldn't decide between laughing and choking, and so he put the riceball down until he could clear his throat.
"Sorry... Sorry I told him... I mean we were..." He tried to explain through harsh breaths to his master who only rolled her eyes as she looked back down to Houri.
"Not all species are born the same. For instance, when a saiyan female get's pregnant, she can chose to either carry the child inside of her, or she can place the fertilized egg into an incubation chamber. It's kind of like these, although the incubation chamber you were born in is specifically designed to grow life that has already been created. My machines create life, and then sustain them." Nakiya would explain, pulling out a clipboard and handing it over to Houri. It was already loaded with sheets and a pen attached to it. Clearly she used it regularly by all of the markings and chips on the board.
"I wasn't born in an incubation chamber. My mother carried me as a baby until I was ready to be born." She explained simply, then moving on directly to his next question about whether or not the creatures inside these tubes were all 'the same'. She would shake her head no at that and indicate the first one, which Houri thought might be a dragon.
"You mean clones. And no, they aren't. They are all original creatures, the only ones of their kind. I find the most powerful DNA I can of specific species, and mix them together so that I can chose what sort of creature will be born, what kind of powers they will have, and what they will be like. This guy here, isn't a dragon. But he does have dragon DNA. He's small now, but he's barely begun to grow at all. He's going to start looking more humanoid soon. He's going to be similar to Vulpeca in a way. Vulpeca is made from the DNA of multiple powerful fire demon's, with the base of a fox. This one, will have the base of a dragon." She explained, probably way too quickly for the boy to actually jot anything down. Her research was her pride and joy, her creations were her unborn babies, and her successes were her children.
"As for where they come from, I've only known them to reside in Makai. As I explained yesterday, they are magical creatures, and Makai would be the only place with enough magical energy for them to survive."
- Ah, well this really makes more sense, and makes me wonder if somehow I was a born the natural way or by incubation. And it makes me wonder if I wasn’t some kind of project too, I mean, I was discarded after all. –
While talking he would eventually adjust his fake glasses as he took notes about the things he found important and more and as he understood that Nakiya got samples from different places he asked.
- How do you collect the material from them? Personally? Vulpeca helps you with that? I mean, I can’t help but think that collecting Dna material from all across the space must be hard, and fun at the same time, getting to know all the different life forms and how they work. Amazing. –
As he marveled about the information, it felt as he was absorbing all the information he could from the moment, as he would examine the new member of the family he remarked with a smile.
- So Vulpeca will have a brother or a sister soon I guess, I hope he or she likes me and Vulpeca! Anyway I wanted to understand how do you make them learn things, is it a program or is it a preprogramed memory inserted in the Dna or during the creation? And how long does the process of incubation take? Months? Minutes? Weeks? Does it depend on the size and complexity of the organism? Are they aware of the surroundings, or can they think during the processes? –
During his remarks, Houri steped around the lab looking and sometimes asking Nakiya to show him some instruments while he inquired about the functions and usages about them. During his exploits he asked.
- Is it troublesome? I mean, to create them? To set up this lab? And, can you create an embryo so i can see how is it done? Also, is this a common practice around other planets and realms? -
"Not all adults are fit to be parents, Houri. Especially saiyans. I've studied them long enough to figure that one out. If a child is born with a weak power level, they are either sent on an impossible mission to conquer a planet far too strong for them, abandoned or killed. Truthfully, if you were abandoned, then your parent's where some of the kinder ones." Nakiya stated earning a slight glare from Vulpeca, who was still standing behind Houri. Nakiya would raise an eyebrow towards the fox demon who had apparently stopped choking.
<<What?>> She would ask him silently, only to earn a mental nudge from the fox. <<That's a little harsh master!>>
<<So what? I told him I wasn't going to baby him. If he want's to learn it's better to know the truth about things. Stop sheltering him.>> Nakiya would warn the fox before turning her attention once more on the child as he adjusted his fake glasses. He would then ask her a full book's worth of questions and Nakiya sighed, memorizing each one so that she could answer them all in sequence.
"I tend to collect the DNA samples myself, for the most part I use blood as it's the easiest thing to come by. Either me, or any of my creations will use our demonic portals to collect them. Unless I find a species particularly interesting, then I might set up a laboratory just like this one so I can study them closer. I've been doing this for over 30 years, and I've got thousands to go. So I've got time to learn everything, about everyone. I guess it is... fun. It's one of the only things I enjoy doing." Nakiya admitted as she watched the boy smile at nothing, reveling in how much of the universe Nakiya had actually seen. With that out of the way, Nakiya would finally have to address the onslaught of questions.
"This one is male, I haven't started to work on the female counterpart yet as I'm not even sure if he'll be a proper success or not. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things... As for how I make them learn things... well, look here." Nakiya would walk over to the largest console in the room. There were several slots for different disks. The monitor that hovered over the console would show several different brains. On every brain, there would be multiple fibers of different colors, each representing a disk that was inserted into the console.
"It's all done as their brain develops. See, I've already programmed what I want each of them to know, and which part of the brain best accesses that information. This console controls what pieces of information go into what parts of the brain as it grows. If I was to just put it all in at the same time, then my experiment would fail. They might go insane with the flood of information, their brains might literally explode or other such undesirable situations. So this has to be closely monitored during the infant stages of an experiments growth.
This can take quite some time, but I never rush it. I'd rather they learn the information at a safe pace to ensure sucess, than force it into their heads and risk failure. Each experiment grows at a different pace depending on the DNA used. If you want to use Vulpeca for an example, he was in incubation for about 6 months. Demon's grow quickly by nature, and so it wasn't hard for him to absorb the information he needed and gain the strength to grow. In fact I think Vulpeca had the shortest infancy stage of all my experiments... However Kinoko, she is my saiyaness project, she took about 5 years to be born. She was created from some extremely powerful DNA and so I had to be extremely careful with her... Anyways, some of them become conscious of their surrounding in their final stages of development, but normally, there is too much information being put into their heads for them to become conscious at all. Some of them dream, and tend to create lives for themselves with the information given to them." She would explain as she thought back to Kinoko's days within the creation tanks. It had been quite the battle to successfully create her... the DNA she had aquired from the Saiyan Natto was quite potent, and attempted to grow far too fast. It was only thanks to the DNA from his mate, Tomoroko, that he was able to slow this process down to safe levels. However, upon adding the DNA from Natto's brother... well, it was a difficult process.
"It's not troublesome at all. As I said earlier I enjoy doing this. I always have. The labor put into it doesn't bother me in the slightest. As for your question about if this is common practice... No. It's not. In fact most people frown upon this kind of research as it's labelled as 'un-ethical' or even 'evil'. I create life in ways most species would deem vile. As they say, I am "Playing God" and so most people would destroy my lab if they ever knew what was going on inside of it." She said almost boredly. She didn't care what anyone else thought of her research. This was cutting edge technology, this was her life's work! To hell with them and their ethics. Yes, she was playing god, because soon enough, she would be. A dark god of creation! Nakiya couldn't help the low chuckle that escaped her lips at the thought.
She'd then look back to Houri seriously as she crossed her arms.
"I won't just use up the precious DNA I've collected just to create an embryo because you want to see it. HOWEVER. Your blood is so far, of no use to me. Let me draw your blood, and we can use your DNA." She would say seriously, staring Houri dead in the eyes to see how he would react to this statement.
- Yeah, probably, I just wonder sometimes what they were, I mean, some elite fighters or low caste Saiyans, even royalty, it is fun to imagine, anyway, I get what you are saying. –
As Nakiya would state how long she has been doing what she was doing, Houri would inquire about the portals and herself.
- Soo, you really look well for someone over 30, I was not expecting that! Still, can anyone learn how to use demon portals? Like that sword? I mean If it is a mechanism or a technology, can we put it in a belt or a bracelet? It is useful and curious, I would like to learn it too. –
As he looked at the way the creatures learned however, Houri asked himself if there was not a way for him to learn that fast too, having knowledge almost installed in his brain made him think about how useful and quick would be to learn so much in such a little timespan. That line of thought however made Houri question Nakiya, stating something out of his own mind.
- And is because of that risk that you never developed a way to teach a grown subject in a faster way, this way is potentially dangerous for someone already conscious and mature, like Vulpeca, and Kinoko. This is interesting.
- I will study this further, once I know more, I will work into a way to learn things faster and more efficiently, like them, but with fewer risks, it would be nice for you and save you time instructing me… Very interesting… -
Vulpeca and Nakiya had seen this before, in the training room, Houri was not wondering about something or even questioning if it was possible, he was stating he was going to do something, and by now, they would understand that it would be only a matter of time before he would actually do it or achieve his objective. As he would look over the tubes and keep taking notes, some would be seem with question marks about ( What is DNA) ( It is bad to put wires and try to install things in the brain, might kill) ( from six months to five years, creatures are not noodles and won’t be ready five minutes? Remains to be seen) With his questions being written down to some other time as he would study alone, he choose to focus his attention in what was more important and bigger details about the research.
- When I asked if it was troublesome, I was asking if it is expensive to create a embryo and how does it work, you just put the samples in the machine and that’s it or is there a more complex preparation. Is there a way you can see how the creature will look like once mature? –
- And I think that those people are just afraid of something they do not understand, I mean you can create life, that is awesome, not wrong, you are not killing anyone for it, and you are not even making anyone any harm. Look at Vulpeca, he is my best friend and he is just fine, no one can tell he came out of a tube, I might have come out of one too, that is hypogrificus. No. it feels wrong, the word is, hipocratical, no, hypocritical, yes I think that is it. Sorry… Anyway, I find your research awesome, you can populate dead planets with new life, save species from extinction, hell you can even restore the Makai with new species, not just living creatures but with plants too right?
- I am a kid and I can understand and see all the applications for it, grown ups are stupid, ethics, if they had the possibility to do something similar I doubt they would think about ethics, they would just do it for personal gain.
During his statement and while watching Nakiya grab a syringe to take some of his blood, Houri felt a chill down his spine as he saw the needle, and trying to avoid being nervous and actually showing some courage said while offering his arm.
- Whatever DNA sample you use, I can go get more for you if you want, I just want to see how it is done and maybe even learn from you how to create life too! I am not that weak and if I can access the portals then it would be good for you to because I would act as extension of your hands. It sounds interesting, I can visit other worlds and learn and get data for you.
"Well, once we get your blood I can cross reference it with the Empire's saiyan database. Every baby born has their DNa tested and kept on file so they can always be identified. Luckily for you~ I hacked that system a long time ago... heh. And I've only been at THIS for 30 years, I"m actually 20 years older then that." She informed Houri almost boredly as he brought up the subject. Then, Houri asked about the demonic portals, and Nakiya found herself raising her eyebrow once more.
"No, you can't just learn to make one. It's very rare that someone from the living Realm... er... this realm, can manage to make one on their own. Even the dark sorcerer Bibidi and Babidi had trouble entering the Demon Realm. Of course they needed my great grand fathers help to do it. The only way someone like you could use a portal, is by drinking the Water of Power." Nakiya would sigh as she thought back to her lessons on dark magic. How the great King Dabura had been marked by the dark sorcerer's magic and fallen victim to his whim. Well, she wasn't about to let THAT happen again. While she had allowed Abzerute to uncover the ancient tome, she was fully aware of it's presence and it's effects. If he so much as waved that tome at her, she'd put an end to him in the blink of an eye, ally or no.
"I don't... what?" As Nakiya was brought back to the here and now, she listened to Houri's words and was quickly becoming blown away from his words. She didn't mind showing him the lab because she didn't think he would really understand anything, at least not yet. However, it looked like he was picking up on things really fast, apparently already thinking of a way to surpass her technology...
'What an arrogant little shit...' She would think to herself in annoyance as she listened. Something didn't fit with Houri... he was... too good. Too good, too strong, and now becoming too smart. It didn't make sense... The odd time she had met an intellectual saiyan, she turned out to be weak in the strength department, and vice versa... they were never both. So how was Houri different?
"No..." She began as he continued to ask questions. She would keep a close eye on his now as she answered, approaching with the syringe now to take his blood as she spoke.
"Money's never been an issue to finance this stuff. I take what I need, I don't particularly buy it. I've made my own equipment from scrap, and get my DNA samples myself. As for their creation, it is much much more complex then that. In the case of blood, I'll have a look at it myself, before putting it in a machine where I'll isolate the genetic code, or the DNA. I look for what traits I want, what strengths are most powerful or can be improved, and then I use that when creating an embryo... it's difficult to explain exactly. But no, I can't tell what they will look like when they are grown. The DNA sort of takes care of that, and I don't really care." She would say as she stuck the needle into Houri's arm when it was offered and draw his blood. From the corner of her eye she could see Vulpeca watching her intently, and she couldn't help but roll her eyes at that. She would take out the needle and remove the sample, tossing the needle into a proper container.
When Houri mentioned that people shouldn't be upset because it wasn't as if she had killed anyone, Nakiya just kept her mouth shut and moved away from Houri with the sample. She would find her chair and wheel it over to the analyzer as she listened to him speak while working. She had captured and killed many people when she started these experiments, in fact, many level below ground there were still aliens that remained in cages. Of course, they were all provided for and well taken care of, as their DNA would lose it's effectiveness if they were severely mistreated. Those beings down in the prisons were fairly young, as they were the offspring of the original prisonners. Life down there was all they knew, and so they rarely put up a fuss about escape.
"Hypocritical. And yes, I can do exactly that. I collect DNA I come across even if I don't use it right away, in the event a species goes extinct of course. It's better to have a perfect specimen of the extinct race anyways, so that when they do repopulate, there are no longer any genetic flaws." She would begin to explain, stopping herself there as she took some of Houri's blood and placed it on a slide, putting it into the analyzer. She would reach into one of the drawers and retrieve a thin pair of glasses which she then gingerly placed on her face. She would start typing insanely fast on the computer, watching as one result after another came up on the screen.
"Hmmm" She would hum to herself even as Houri spoke. It was clear she didn't hear the last bit of what he was saying as she was too focused on what was coming up on the screen.
"That marker is different..." She would mutter under her breath, flying into another mad dash on the keyboard as she started to cross reference the genetic marker she had found at his base DNA level.
"Who would even have that technology..." She would continue to mutter softly as she finally sat back in her chair, her hand resting on her chin as her mind began trying to put pieces together...
- Well you really look good then for someone with almost fifty I guess. And well, the concept of being to rip space apart and travel across it is very useful, however it must take up a lot of energy, and if done incorrectly might cause some anomaly, or even a rift in space, this could be troublesome, but, worth the study too… I will look more into it after that first project is done…-
Houri now was sitting on one of the chairs as he waited for Nakiya to finish what readings she had found, while he would get lost inside his thoughts muttering while drawing a scouter fit like a visor for both eyes while saying.
- I remember that when Vulpeca was teaching me about the computers I saw something about subliminal messages, like putting a piece of information on an image. I could work on that, If I put images loaded with simple instructions about how to do something or information on a subject, they could be triggered by what the image was related to… Yes, that would be possible? Vulpeca, do you know if I am thinking correctly? I mean, I am not getting lost at gibberish am I? –
He would continue to wonder as Nakiya were doing her own research about his blood, however the time it took her and the reaction she was having ended up prompting his curiosity to spike up as he stood and asked from a distance where he would not get in the way of the chair.
- So, how is my blood, anything interesting in it? Is it a good sample? Or a bad one? –
He would try to wait as patiently as he could, however his curiosity was getting the best of him making the kid even walk around the lab as he looked the consoles over and thought about how marvelous all this could be. This research in his mind, could be a source of good and renewal to many dead and destroyed places, such as the ruins they stood right now, or even the wastelands.
- Thinking about it, this planet is perfect as a test subject to many restoration projects, to clean the radiation, to change the wastelands, not that the Saiyans that live here would care about the changes in the area, but man this could improve the quality of life of people like me that live like me. –
- And Nakiya, I was wondering, that sword, is enchanted right? Like the magic has been placed on the sword to open portals. So, could we put an enchantment like that in a crystal? Or something able to carry the energy to be used even in a onetime only? Like a disposable device or item. This could really be helpful, it is worth the look. If it has been done once with the sword, we can try to replicate it with something else. –
With all of his thinking and wonder about the things he was witnessing at the lab, Houri could not help but marvel as he brainstormed, the possibilities, the applications, it was a golden opportunity, and as it stood now, he was grateful for being able to be around Vulpeca and Nakiya during this moment of his life, this life changing experience was incredible.
He dared not to say, but he wondered if other people would see things as he did now, or even understand what it could be done with it. What other projects did Nakiya had in store, he wanted to ask, but he was waiting for her to tell him something about his blood, however, as soon as she did it, he would ask.
- Do you have other researches here? Or others usually help you or are you all alone with it? I mean I can understand I guess, can I do research with you? Like a lab assistant, I promise I won’t get in your way I promise.
- Also, I was wondering, can you let me create an embryo, just to feel and see how it is like? I can replace the samples we used if you want.
"Mhm..." Was Nakiya's only reactin as her eyes were now glued to a microscope lense. She was gone, and nothing Houri was saying was getting through to her at this point. So instead, Vulpeca would just smile and answer as best he could in her stead.
"The Gateway Sword is a very powerful and very ancient magic, so to replicate it would take more than science. You would need a very powerful sorcerer to enchant the crystal to do what you wanted it to. It might sound easy but some of these guys have studied for thousands of years, and still can't replicate the swords magic. As for subliminal messages... well I dont think there's any need for that with us. Everything is put directly into our brain as it's supposed to be. There's no beating around the bush, chance for misinterpretation. All of the information is set in stone. And you aren't speaking gibberish at all... actually you sound like you've done this before." Vulpeca would admit, his eyes now curiously on Houri.
Still ignoring Houri's words, Nakiya would suddenly spin around in her chair, staring at Houri with curiosity obvious in her eyes.
"Do you have any strange marking's on your body? Like a brand? Like this" Nakiya would pull down the collar of her shirt, revealing what looked like a tattoo of a 6 pointed star on her neck. All of the demonic nobles had their own crest, and this was hers. All those serving the noble family, would also carry that crest. She knew that Saiyan royalty operated differently, but still, she wanted to be sure.
She would wait for Houri to show her he had some or not, before getting up and walking over to Houri. She would place her hand under his chin, lifting it so that he was looking at her.
"Incredible... infuriating incredible. Even Kinoko doesn't have half the skills you do..." She would say as if Houri himself wasn't there. However, immediately after, she would lock her eyes onto his own.
"Well kid. I found out why you grew up alone. Come here." She would say as she escorted Houri back towards the computer. She would press her hand against the large screen and push on two different buttons. Two large images would come up, of a female and male saiyan. Both of them had golden hair and teal eyes, and both wore the royal crest.
"While these two aren't technically your parent's... their DNa was used to create you... It looks like I have a copy cat on the planet somewhere." Nakiya would state, looking back towards Vulpeca who had a rather shocked look on his face.
"Really? You mean... someone created him?" He would ask, and Nakiya would nod as she looked back down to Houri. The question about the Embryo could wait... right now, she was far more interested in him.
- Ah mark, or brand? I do not think so, I had never seen one, but, please, take a look, what I do know is that I never been branded by the slave traders that roam the wastelands that is a fact.–
Houri as Nakiya would ask him about markings and brandings, would at first be confused, he did not understood very well the nature of the questions and the reason behind them, did possessed something weird in his blood? He was beginning to grow worried about the turn of events that this day had taken. After all, what was supposed to be just a visit at the laboratory now held answers far more important, as he spoke the Kid first took off his gloves and his boots showing his feet and hands, his wrists and even came to take his shirt off. However, it was not in his body that the marking resided. What Nakiya was looking for was in a place more discreet and difficult to locate, by Houri, or anyone that did not know where to look for it.
Right below the second vertebra of his spine, tiny and hidden by his hair, there, lay the crest that she was looking for.
- What do you mean with Kinoko skills? –
Curiosity was something innate to every child in the universe, however, Houri now had the double of the questions that anyone around his age might have. Who are those? What is it with the hair, and if they were the dna sources used to create him, why was he created? Did he had a purpose?
- I feel sick! –
The questions were so many and the possibilities so much that for a time he felt his stomach turn and twist as he looked over for a chair to sit down.
- Are you saying what, I grew up alone, i was discarded because I was created? But why? Why? Am i a failed project? I am confused –
Houri had no words, no smart remarks no fast thinking, his head ached and his mind was rushing with a flow of information that made him dizzy. However, as he calmed down a bit, he mustered the strength to ask while looking at the monitor.
- What is so special about those two on the screen? Who are they? Why the blond hair and eyes? I thought saiyans had black hair like mine, and what else did you find in my blood? –
Houri had not understood it correctly when Nakiya said that she had a copycat, at first he actually let that piece of information just pass by over his head, however, now as he calmed down, he glared at the pair in surprise as he put the pieces together.
- Wait, so, genetic research like your’s is really hard to do and to create life is something really hard for most of people, and at some point, someone did it just like you and created me? How? -
"Just, keep your pants on." Nakiya would say as Houri began removing articles of clothing. The last thing she wanted was a naked child saiyan running around her laboratory. However, as Houri did remove one article of clothing after another, nothing stood out to her and Nakiya would huff gently. She would walk over and take Houri's hands one by one, looking at them closely before looking up his arms to his biceps, and then his shoulders. These were all the usual spots for brands... but nothing stuck out. She would then look at both sides of his neck, raising an eyebrow as there was still nothing there, until finally she would turn him around and move his hair to look at the back of his neck. There, at the base, was a very tiny mark, well hidden away from view~
"So the Queen knew... She had to. Hmmm" She would say, only then releasing Houri to go back to her computer. Houri would ask her about Kinoko, but Nakiya wouldn't answer that. She didn't need to. The specifics of Kinoko's creation were for her own knowledge, no one elses. It would be like revealing her deepest darkest secrests, and none of that information was to get out. At all.
Then, after Houri's exclamation of feeling sick, Vulpeca would go over and put his hand on the boy's shoulder to stabilize him until he found a chair and sat down.
"I doubt you're a failed project... you have the royal crest behind your neck... that means the Queen knows that you exist, she would have had to do it herself... hmmm... but I wonder why she would create you like this... or have you created... She had a son of her own, the crowned prince Athren... Perhaps it was his lack of interest to rule to drive her to seek your creation... but to use Natto's DNA... a truly hated foe... hah, i'm shocked..." Nakiya's ramblings were more to herself, though loud enough that Houri could take it all in. She would sit back down at her station, pulling up two strange looking pieces of equipment, and placing Houri's blood vial inside of one, letting the second do it's work. She would then look up to the two Saiyans on screen and would look back towards Houri as he asked about them.
"The woman was the previous Queen of planet Vegeta, mother to the now deceased prince Athren. As for the male... his name was Natto, also deceased... I've used his DNA myself in my experiments as he was one of the strongest beings in the universe at the time. He became the leader of the Saiyan Alliance... so you can see why their combined DNA to create you is... strange. The reason they look different, is because these are images of them in their Super Saiyan transformations. This is a power that a saiyan can achieve once certain requirements are met... hmmm... If you were to transform... Your potential is huge..." She would say, bringing her hand once more to her lips as she pondered the whole situation. She would wait for her machines to be done with Houri's blood samples before she could even give him more information.
"As I thought..." She said as she pulled up the information as the test continued.
"It can't seem to identify the marker tied to your blood... I have no idea who created you, or why... or even how... Saiyan's shouldn't have this kind of technology..." She would say, her eyes frowning as she looked over the data for information that wasn't there.
"Master... what if this person made a contract with a demon? You have the technology, could it be maybe, that a demon found your research while you were still on Makai?" Vulpeca suggested and Nakiya shook her head.
"No... my security is flawless. I would know, and i'm not just saying that, there is literally no way into any of my labs without triggering some form of alarm... hmm... I'll have to do more research, but it could take me some time..." She would say, glancing over to Houri now to get a final glance at what the boy might do.
"In the meantime, Vulpeca I want you to continue training him... In fact, I will be leaving for a mission to EArth with the King shortly... hm... you learn fastest when you are put on the spot, so that's exactly what I'm going to do... yes... Houri I want to see you become a Super Saiyan, so you'll have to train hard." She would say seriously now, her eyes seeming to stare into Houri's very soul.
Was it too much? A simple field trip now had turned itself into a maelstrom of discovery and uncertainty. He was a project that at what he knew right now, was supposed to be the epitome of a warrior, the offspring of the two greatest warriors of the past, the Queen of the planet Vegeta and the man Natto from a place and position that Nakiya might had chosen not to discuss at that time in particular. That made Houri think hard enough to feel his head ache as all the variants started to come to his mind one after the other like a set of dominos being pushed down.
- So, even being created in a tube or born in a natural way, it does not really matter, I have the queen Dna and a royal crest, so does this make me a royal blood too? Or a Prince of sorts? –
The questions sounded more like a statement to himself as he would put his hand on his chin and think about it trying to connect the dots and understand all the weight of the information Nakiya had just given to him. As he started to walk around looking sometimes at Nakiya and Vulpeca for support on what he was saying he continued on.
- The Irony in all of this is that, I wished to learn more about royalty, how to act and behave as one, and now I discover I have way a royal crest in my neck… I guess this makes it a necessity now not just a wish. This thing might also become a target in the back of my head too, if I am the last one with royal blood alive this makes me a heir, which I believe could pose a problem to Jarvis and his new founded empire… he might try to kill me if he gets a hold of this… It would only add another reason for him to wish me erased from existence. I need to get stronger… Faster… And, what is a super Saiyan exactly? It’s a physical change like Vulpeca, or a more humanoid thing like yours? You have any information on what does it do or how does it work?-
As he walked around and even stopped at the tube holding one of the creatures Nakiya was working on, Houri put a hand on the tube wondering how was it that he was created, was he inside of a tube like that too once? If he were, why did he not shared the already implanted information on his brain like Vulpeca, was it a different method? That made him inquire.
- I doubt the process would be the same, either more advanced or less than yours Nakiya, I do not seem to share the information pool that Vulpeca has and I did not matured like him. If I did not knew about my bloodline I would consider myself just a regular child. I would be still living as the ragged and dirty kid from the wastelands, not a member of your family… Group…
Houri caught himself calling them his family, but quickly turned shy due to what Nakiya might think or even consider of him calling her something as close as family. Indeed, he saw Vulpeca and her as his family, but the other way around were not confirmed, he had no idea what the demon had in mind, however, the kid while still looking a bit sad said a few words out of context as if trying to assemble a puzzle in his own mind.
- Purpose, meaning, goal, ideals… Nakiya, what does this all mean to me now? Vulpeca? Now I am a prince? Was this supposed to change anything? Should I feel more special or be happy over it? Because I really don’t feel it, I am actually feeling lost. What would you two do if you were in my shoes, if you just discovered what I know now? This just changes everything…
As he would state almost in a drifting state of mind the kid would just let the thoughts flow as he submerged deep inside his own world. When Nakiya stated that he should train harder and become a super saiyan the kid then said with a small, tired but yet genuine smile on his face.
- That was never out of the question, in fact it gives me a goal now, not just training out of habit… However I need to prepare now, learn faster, because this information opens a door to something unexpected… I do not know what to expect now, so I need to double my preparations to anything. So, thank you very much Nakiya, if were not for you, I would not have learned these things about me. –
The two were close as Nakiya had her eyes locked into his, and out of the innocence in his heart, Houri did the unthinkable, out of gratitude, almost love if it could be said. He hugged the demon, a hug that contained all his joy, all his peace and all of the feelings he had of gratitude towards her and Vulpeca.
Whe the hug broke out, Houri stated as he now wondered about Nakiya’s mission.
- Nakiya, I have a spaceship, not very big nor new, but if I get some tools here or even get a few hours with Vulpeca we can turn it into something flyable, do you want me to scout ahead for you in this Earth planet? If I leave sooner than you I can arrive sooner and provide you information to whatever you need there. -
