Drider
Starting Planet: Free Space
Starting Power: 800
Appearance: When it comes down to Appearance, Driders are simple creatures, part of their bodies always looking like something that a human can associate with something else. For the most part, the race of Driders are actually associated between Humans and Spiders, their top halves containing that human part while their bottom side has the bod of a spider, usually ending the spider part where the head would be, going up into the stomach of a human and then everything up is human as well. One abnormal thing about Driders when it comes to their human sides however, is that they are still occupied with around six to eight eyes, two generally normal eyes in their normal spots with the other few around their heads in one way or another, sometimes as decoration in appearance but nonetheless they are there, however, there can be more than eight or less than six depending on the species it is taking off of. As well, Driders are more or less a female strict race... their upper bodies being focused upon a female human body, as well as relying on breeding with other races to make sure that their own race continues on, however they themselves are more or less strictly a dominant race.
A Drider itself caries exterminator genes, causing half breed development with a Drider to be physically impossible, the Drider genes always coming out as a pure blooded variant, although it needs to be made by another race in general, any combination of races with a Drider will end with a Drider child, no matter what race is used! Thus, all 'half breed' appearance is that of a regular Drider, as they don't even take up the genes of the other race still, those genes being negated to keep the Driders gene pool as it needs to be.
Lastly, even though Driders are mostly Spider in nature, hence the name... they can also be a bunch of other species in work, though it is more or less just for looks, not really changing much. It has been shown that Driders can also have lower halves of most insect creatures... an example being a Scorpion for a lower half, instead of a spider. Though this can be expanded upon as just arachnids and insects for the most part. However, for more general parts.. such as their colors, those can very drastically from Drider to Drider
Background: The Driders are a treacherous race of half humanoid and half spider woman. They can mostly be found on the planet of Xestilio living in caverns. The planet is perfect for the arachnid race which allowed them to thrive and quickly become the dominant race of the planet. Striding along the giant webs built across the giant forest landscapes they quickly took over the entire planet, setting up hives and nests into the deep cavern systems that traverse the underground of Xestilio.
The driders are ruled by brood mothers, strong driders who control hordes of minions and slaves. They wage war on each other most of the time. Treacherous backstabbing behind the scenes is not uncommon in drider society. The driders having a natural desire to control and rule causing them to fight for the power of territories and other races. However to a drider the biggest mistake would be an upfront attack. They much prefer taking care of things in treachery, trickery and sabotage rather than fight wars that take years to finish using brute strength.
Their hierarchy is highly based on wit and control, it is rather easy for drider matriarchs to suddenly go down after speaking the wrong words to the wrong person. They are quick witted creatures, noticing every mistake in someone’s behavior and the way to bring them down rather quickly. Once someone is in their web of control it is rather hard to get out of it without becoming a pawn to the matriarch and serving one of her purpose. The driders tend to only bend the knees to the most intelligent of matriarch as they themselves seek dominance and so hiding under the powerful and learning from them is a quick way to their goal.
Driders tend to be rather territorial, preferring to remain in the safety of their well-established nests rather than adventure outside, leaving this job to their minions instead. It isn’t uncommon for them to leave Xestilio however, due to the dominance of other driders in the area. Leaving the planet to seek a place without competition to create their own nests and brood. Some driders will seek a suitable planet for years before finally settling down and creating their own brood. They seduce and take over the locals quickly and begin their quest for planetary dominance.
Unique Characteristics:
Nest Planet: Once a Drider chooses where to live, it will generally stay in that area from now on, acting as the Brood Mother in that hive from now on, more or less choosing that place as their true home. A nesting planet is something chosen carefully for a Drider due to the importance of it to the Brood Mother in general, this is a major part of the Driders as a whole and how they act in their hierarchies [When buying a house, have it permanently placed on a planet, making that planet marked as your characters Nest Planet, which will play into other racials]Hive Mind: Due to the controlling and territorial nature of the Driders, as well as the ruling of the Brood Mothers, a Drider can take a hold of its powers to sense and link minds in a way that they can command their hordes of minions and slaves to increase the battle capabilities aside from just barked out orders. This more so makes it so the driders can command their armies from a mental standpoint, the minions following with peak efficiency to the point that their combat effectiveness is increased more than any other army out there. [Add 1/5th bonus to combat enabled NPCS (5,000=6,000, 10,000=12,000, 15,000=18,000) and 5% increase to allies PL (25%=30%, 50%=55%, 75%=80%) (Allies get a +x1 to their trans) (This Racial requires ST-2 Telepathy)]
Breeding Grounds: When a Drider is within the accommodations of its own home, it can better prepare and produce its own offspring as well as prepare its own slaves for battle. Their production of these forces is faster than mostly any other line of production ever seen, making them good at building up forces for the sake of their battles and hierarchy. However, when out of their home planet where their nest is, it is a lot harder to prepare said forces due to the unnatural feeling. [Reduces the cost of Allies and Combat enabled NPCS while staying on Nest planet, 15% reduction in cost.]
Out of nest: A drider will feel extremely uneasy out of their nest. Growing used to their environment and the comfort of their nest they suffer a heavy discomfort and a feeling of weakness. The drider will be much more vulnerable due to the lack of webs or nest material leaving them at their opponent’s mercy instead of holding the high ground in their intricate nest of power. Losing their superiority of being in control of their surrounding they fall to discomfort and anxiety leaving their attacks and defense weaker. [Offensive and Defensive PL is reduced by 15% while out of Nest Planet.]
Mastermind of Greed: Because of their manipulative and greedy nature, a Drider can always find its way to take a cut of a reward from somebody or something, even if the person doesn't realize it and their pockets feel just as heavy. The Driders almost purely aim for that greed to build up their hives and homes, so when it comes to pulling at least a bit of reward for themselves, they surely come out on top [When in a thread where others request Zeni as a reward. Without actually taking Zeni from the others. You may gain 15% equivalent of their Zeni grades for yourself. Even if you yourself choose power level as your reward]
Large Bodied: A Driders body is extremely large, due to their normal human half, the insect half usually takes up a lot of space. This size however comes with the fault that their body can't maintain ki across their entire body for the purpose of flight, never being able to master such a skill as they are more or less grounded. They also for the most part, will never have wings, and for those insects who might their bodies are just too large and heavy for the wings to actually carry alongside everything. As well, from how large and bulky their body is, they take up a lot of room even in their space pods, making it very problematic to conserve space. [Mechanically, a Drider will never be able to learn ST-1 Flight. As an added feature, they will also, no matter the pod, take up two seats for the capacity, meaning that anything with one seat, or if there is only one seat left in a group pod, can not be used]
Female Race: Driders are in every way a female race, having a female humanoid half and having a female system. They can only breed with other races, however they can not create hybrids, their genes mixing in a way that the Drider comes out on top and exterminates the other genes to the point of being purely drider, even if they take a bit from the other parent in the sense of partial looks and perhaps colorization. [The only available gender is female. Can not hybridize this race but mating can only be with other races]
Transformations:
Broodmother Evolution: A drider can evolve into an advanced form of their specie called the Broodmothers. A broodmother has an advanced power over her brood, her higher power invigorating her and her minions. Very slight changes appear once the drider has evolved if any at all physically. Some Broodmothers grow spikes onto their legs and spider abdomen, however some simply have a strange symbol imprinted onto the top of their spider abdomen. This symbol often becoming the emblem of her brood. {50k+, Must be on Nest Planet} [x4 PERM]
Broodmother Matriarch Evolution: Once the Broodmother reaches a certain level of power she will evolve into a Matriarch, a higher grade of Broodmother. The Matriarchs gain a larger abdomen showing their increased breeding capacity and their dominance over the other Broodmothers. {120k+, ST-2 Telepathy, Must be on Nest Planet} [x12 PERM]
Brood Queen Evolution: The last evolution of the Drider race, the Brood Queen will often gain a crown-like appendage onto their head. This appendage is not only to show their higher power but also serves as strengthened transmitter for telepathic powers. It is not rare for a Brood Queen to lack such appendage as the evolution will often take place inside of their body instead. {250k+, Must be on Nest Planet} [X23 PERM]
Psy Enlightenment: After amassing a large amount of power, the Brood Queen can unleash it all at once to boost her power. The psychic power of a truly powerful Brood Queen boosts itself in a Psy Enlightenment allowing her higher control of her minions and allowing her to unleash terrifying attacks upon those who would dare intrude upon her lair. {450k+} [x42]
