It would've been the early afternoon on the Planet Earth, the sun was high and the weather was quite beautiful. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the wind wasn't present. It would've made for a decent day of training if the people of Earth didn't have a different plan for the young prince. Currently, Athren had found himself airborne. His direction was towards the ocean. He wanted to do some basic training excersized on the sandy shorelines. He didn't want to push hard today as he did for many days prior to this. He was a firm believer in resting every other day that he trained hard. If he over worked his muscles he would be doing much more damage than good. He couldn't have that happen as it'd slow his progression down. This would also end up in his trainings being only half as effective.
Regardless, he wasn't going to get around to this today anyway. Athren's current altitude was quite low, it would have been simple for an earthling below to make out minor details of his features. This is what was going to make him a target for something odd within the next few moments. Something he'd never see coming in a million years. It'd be both beneficial to him and to the one who was going to toss such an odd request. It would require some hard, physical labour and time. Luckily, Athren was cabable of giving both. The odd request had happened when Athren was flying over a farmers fields, surrounding the fields was an old rotten fence that had tumbled down in three sections. The cattle whom had occupied the area had fled out. Not only this, but there was a tractor broke down with an elderly farmer examining it. The old man was desperate for help and it seemed that luck had been in his favour. He looked up to the sky as he wiped his arm against his forehead to remove the sweat. It was in that moment he would've seen the young saiyan prince. He shouted to the heavens above in a desperate attempt to get some assitance from the one who had been passing by. "Eh! You!! Come down here for a minute, will ya!?"
Athren had heard the request as clear as day. There wasn't any confusion yet the young prince stopped himself in the air to debate if he should listen or not. It wasn't a question of feeling endangered, that would have been the last of his concern. The main reason for hesitation was he felt as if it'd he a massive waste of time. Firstly, why would a human request a strangers help? Secondly, why would he request the help of one who was flying?
Thirdly, why a saiyan? Athren had all the saiyan attributes. A scouter, the armour and lastly the most obvious part being a tail. It honestly didn't make sense but Athren had figured he'd amuse the idea. What harm could come from killing a few minutes down below? With a solid conclusion to the conditions presented Athren slowly lowered himself to the ground. His white boots landed in the soft, green grass beside the elderly man. Athren of course crossed his arms as usual as he examined the old mans figure. He had white hair with a white beard and moustache. He had denim overalls that were stained with who knew what, not only this but he had also been equipped with steel toe boots. Athren opened his mouth to speak, his tone was quite cold yet his speech wasn't unpleasant. "What is it that you want, human?" With that being asked Athren awaited the answer from the farmer.
The farmers green eyes would've hit the ground as his face had a look of dissapointment. Obviously things weren't going his way this day. "Well son, I don't usually ask for help but I've found myself in quite the predicament." With that being said he paused for a brief moment and brought his head up so he could look at the saiyan prince. His right arm went straight out and a finger lifted up to point to the broken, rotted fence. "You see, the high winds of the morning knocked down multiple posts in my fence and my cattle had gotten out. I would've fixed it by now but my tractor decided to break down as well." As the word tractor came out he would have banged on the hood a total of three times with a closed fist. "I was wondering if you'd be willing to put in some time and help me get this whole mess back together. I'll pay you for your work and even provide a meal for you. How does that sound?" His offer was kind and civil. He genouinely seemed like he needed the aid.
Athren nodded as he understood the offer, though he didn't exactly know all the details that it had entailed. He asked about this to clear up any doubts before he made his conclusion. "What exactly do you need done?"
The farmer then began to list off a handful of chores that needed to be done on the farm. "Well, First I need this ol' fenced fixed up. If you don't have a lot of time a quick repair in each section would do.. If you've got a day to spare I wouldn't mind seeing the whole thing replaced." He paused for a moment as to think of what else would have been needing attention. "Next.. I'd need my cows brought back.. Theres thirty six of them in total.. "
He paused briefly once again, those were his main concerns. "and if you wouldn't mind.. run up to my barn there and grab the chain and the truck.. then maybe we can get this tractor back there so I can work on it.. How does that sound?"
Hearing the full extend of the details Athren assumed it wouldn't have been that difficult. With his massive strength and his ability to fly he should beable to make quick work of the fence. The cattle might be difficult to locate but once they were found it wouldn't be difficult to get them back to the farm. That made two of the tasks fairly easy. The last request that he made was simple also, Athren was more than capable of lifting it up and just flying it to the barn. There wasn't a need for any kind of chain or truck. Athren nodded his head once more, this time it was agree to the terms that were placed before him. The labour would've been simple but enough to work his muscles lightly for a short term. Not only this, but the meal did sound interesting. Athren didn't get a decently cooked meal often. Usually he cooked form himself and it was never all that good. "Hm, Sure. I'll help you." Athren paused as he walked over to the tractor. "Now, Where exactly did you want this scrap?" With that being said Athren looked over to his elder.
His elder had arched his brow curiously as he scratched his head. He didn't know what Athren was going to do. He wasn't going for the truck as he requested. "In the barn if possible.. That's where all the tools and spare parts are. " With that being said he went quiet due to Athren beginning to act on the said request by the elderly farmer. Athren had placed his hands on the edge of the bottom corner. His white gloves gripping the rusted metal tightly. He was sure not to squeeze it too tightly or he'd buckle the metal. When he lifted it up enough he released his right hand from the edge and located it to the bottom center of the skid plate. This was to balance it perfectly when he applied pressure. In an instant, Athren's right hand lifted up the tractor effortlessly above his head. The farmers jaw had dropped as his eyes had never seen anything like that before. "Oh.. my. You're quite the strong fellow aren't you?" he commented as Athren lifted himself off the ground and proceeded to take the tractor to the barn. It didn't take long, about thirty seconds to be exact. When Athren had got to the barn he centered the tractor perfectly in the open spot and had set it down gently. He glanced around the barn quickly. There had been countless tools. From wrenches and ratchets all the way to pitchforks and rakes. Above was a loft full of square hay bails. It was most likely to provide for his cattle in the seasons that the grass didn't grow. There were areas of the barn that had doors that blocked Athren's vision. All in all, it was the first time Athren had seen a structure so simple with such a basic purpose. With his curiousity at ease Athren exited the barn and flew back to the elderly man whom awaited him in the field. "That was impressive kid, say.. where are you from?" He asked curiously. He wanted to know more about the super strong being he had in front of him.
Athren didn't make much of a remark to either the statement nor the question. He didn't want to go into territory that he assumed the man wouldn't have understood. He was obviously kept away from technology and lived a simple life. There wasn't a need to get into politics or histories, besides that Athren simply wanted to do the job and get a meal and leave. There wasn't much other than that. "It's not something that we should get into. I'd rather just do the job and leave. Now, where's all the supplies for the fence? I'll get that started first. Though, where do you want all the old rotten wood out of the current fence?" Athren asked. He figured once he knew all the details he wouldn't have to stop for anything. He'd then be able to do the job without stopping.
The elderly man then nodded his head, he didn't understand why but he respected the saiyan's decision. "That's fine." He said before answering Athren's question. "Just pile 'er all up in the field somewhere and i'll burn it all." was what he had said to Athren. "There's nails and a hammer in the barn when you've got all the posts up and decide to put up the railings." The man then began to walk off towards the barn. "I'm gonna go fix that damn tractor."
With that being said he made his way towards the barn. He was going and quite a slow pace but then again, age did that to people.
Athren then looked around to figure out his most strategical way to start doing the job.
It was obvious that the old fence needed to be removed and tossed into the field to be burned. That part was going to be the easiest. That's where Athren had figured he'd best get started. It didn't take very long but Athren moved himself to one edge of the square field. He intended to start there and go all the way around it and stop right back to where he started.
With that thought in mind, Athren began to work away. First, the young saiyan prince began to rip off every cross board that was in his area. There were three in between every post. Once he had ripped them off he'd toss them far off into the field. His aim was accurate so he'd know they'd pile up as he went. Once the cross pieces had been ripped off, he'd grip the post that was dug deep into the ground and rip it out easily. He'd then toss that piece into the middle of the field. Athren followed this procedure all the way around the field, he didn't waste anytime and went as quickly as he could. It maybe took a total of an hour and a half.
The work itself wasn't difficult, it had been quite easy.
Getting to his next step Athren flew over to the barn where the wood had been stored. There were plenty of pieces for the crossboards and countless posts. From here, Athren began to grab what he could and take it to location to be installed. With the posts, Athren simply used his left hand to aim it and the force of his right palm to plant it deeply in the ground. He'd then use the nails and his own ki to attach the board to the posts. Athren had followed this procedure all the way through until the whole job had been done. This was a little bit more time consuming, this had taken Athren about three and a half hours total.
His last and final step was probably the most time consuming one. That was of course if Athren had yet to do it. While he was busy working, Athren didn't realize that the old man had got his tractor going and a large cattle trailer. He went out looking for the cattle himself.
It was roughly fifteen minutes Athren had finished everything that he had pulled back into the yard and turned his tractor off in front of the young saiyan prince. "Well Kid, It looks like you don't have to go huntin' for cattle after all! I rounded 'em all up for you! How'd you make out with everything?" The elderly man then began to look around to see that everything had been finished. The old fence parts were in one large pile, the new fence was installed perfectly. This had all been done in record timing. He was quite impressed. "I Guess you don't have to answer that. Looks like you did a good job kid." With that being said, the elderly man jumped off his tractor and began to walk towards the house. "Follow me, will ya?"
With that being said Athren followed the man towards his house. It appeared to be quite old with a desperate need for some minor maintenence but Athren wasn't exactly going to judge. Currently, he didn't even have himself a home to live in. "Yeah, The labour wasn't too hard. It was actually quite easy." Athren claimed as they reached the front three steps that led up onto the porch. Athren had climbed up them quite easily. "If you don't mind, I wouldn't mind taking the money and getting out of here. I've got some other things to do."
Athren stopped on the porch as he stared down the elderly man.
The elderly farmer then nodded his head, he wasn't sure what Athren needed to do but he understood what it was like to be busy. "Alright Kid, That's fair. Give me a second and I'll be right out with some cash." The elderly man then went inside to look for his money.
While Athren was waited he turned himself around to stare out into the fields. He leaned his right shoulder against the pillar supporting the roof to the porch. Athren's arms would've crossed once more as got lost in thought. ~ This planet would bring in such a high price. It'd be more than enough to boost the saiyan economy again. It'd be more than enough to motivate my people.~ He thought upon this lightly, he didn't have any intent on following out this random thought yet. He thought about it for a few minutes before the elderly man returned outside. He had an envolope stashed with the money Athren earned.
"Well Kid, Here it is." he said as he extended his right hand with it towards Athren. He had quite a thankful smile on his face, in all honesty Athren was the only reason that he didn't lose his cattle permanently. Surely, the wild would've claimed most of them throughout the coarse of the evening and late night.
Athren reached out and gripped his reward firmly. "Alright, well. I'll be going now." He said as he lifted himself off the ground with his Ki. He was just about to blast off but the elderly man had more to say to the young prince.
"You know, I greatly appreciate your help. I couldn't have fixed this mess without you. There isn't many willing to help anymore.. so, thank you." With that being said he gave the young prince a slight nod of appreciation.
It was in this moment that Athren blasted off towards the sky, he left with his reward in hand.
