Galen was a man of his word. When he was finally awake from his coma, he promised Jie Shan that they would spare one day so that he could show him the power of the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School against the hybrid’s own martial arts school. Galen knew very well that Jie Shan’s power dwarfed his own, but he didn’t care; he trusted his skill with the blade and, if he managed to, somehow, get close to Jie’s ki output, his skill would allow him to even the odds, even if just slightly. He would put up a good fight that much he was sure of. On top of that, he had also promised Jie Shan one of his senzu beans and, luckily, he managed to grow them back after being missing for so long and thankfully none of them were needed at the Lookout thanks to the time do-over the Angel Whis did. But they didn’t know that.
In any case, Galen headed down to the Korin’s Holy Grounds, to a glade near the tower he was the Keeper, where he had built a Training Dojo he used to refine his skills in the Kikoukenjutsu Swords School. The dojo was quite simple, but incredibly sturdy due to the sacred wood he used, capable of withstanding some powerful blasts. It was far from indestructible though as he already had to repair it a few times, but it was enough to not crumble down with the first clash of blades of two powerful warriors.
Galen also took care of making a proper greeting. He had arranged a table with some food: fruits, fresh vegetables and some ramen he made himself. The table also had a few bottles of water to help the fighters to get hydrated and he also worked on a little gift: he put one of his senzu beans in a small gift bag and left it there. The Tower Keeper smiled when everything was ready and sit beneath a tree to wait his newfound friend to arrive.

[Thread PL: 256,031. Base: 512,062/256,031]
A journey to the east. That was the path that Jie Shan was walking today. And it was a path that Jie Shan had walked before, though originally he had gone down this road in annoyance: tracking down Cleopatra, his wayward apprentice to that floating lookout in the sky. But now? Now Jie Shan was floating through the sky in a pleasant mood. Perhaps his newly shortened silver hair, when paired with his naturally pale skin, would make him look like a tiny cloud against Earth's bright blue sky. A cloud that flew forth with great speed and intention, but still.
And why was Jie Shan in such a rare mood? Why, he was going to pay his newfound friend Galen a visit. The young hybrid had taken a liking to the young man, his good, if somewhat awkward, nature endearing himself to the cocksure hybrid. And besides, Jie Shan was always in a good mood when he was flying and the wind was whipping through his hair, making it run like quicksilver. It was one of the simpler pleasures in his life, somewhere between vice and indulgence. It did him good to get out of the house. Briefly, he thought on his home. When he left, Dou Furu had been furiously scrubbing the flagstones in the courtyard. Briefly, he had considered bringing the man with him to Galen. The two would get along great, he was sure of it. But there would be time for them to meet later. For now, this was a simple friendly visit.
Jie Shan followed Galen's ki through the air, tracing it back to that supernatural tower like a bloodhound. But much to his surprise, the ki was not sat atop the tower. Instead, the energy came from below, near the ground. Curious, Jie Shan descended until his eyes fell upon a simple, but well crafted, dojo. Galen's handywork? Jie Shan nodded his approval. Jie Shan landed and looked about until his eyes fell on his companion. The boy was sitting beneath a tree, and Jie Shan raised a hand in greeting. He crossed to Galen, blade bouncing across his back as he advanced towards the boy. He offered the boy a small walking bow. "Galen!" He said happily, "Good to see you! Glad to see you're back on your feet in full, friend!"
The hybrid laughed, blissfully unaware that in another echo of time he had vaporized the boy in a moment of fury brought on by some Saiyan bitch.

Galen was just about to finish eating an apple while waiting for Jie Shan when he sensed his energy signature approaching and that made him smile and giggle a bit, feeling rather excited about this little training of theirs. When the hybrid saiyan-elemi finally arrived, Galen swallowed the rest of his apple and quickly got back up his feet, returning his walking bow with a respectful one, chewing as quickly as he could in order to be able to greet him. ”Morning, Mister Jie! I’m glad for that too and I have you and Cleo to thank for that! I won’t ever forget the kindness you showed me.” he said, chuckling a bit and scratching the back of his head, still feeling slightly embarrassed because of the situation.
Suddenly, he remembered the gift he had separated for the hybrid. ”Oh…” he said and then he quickly walked towards the table and grabbed the little gift bag and handed it over to Jie Shan. ”There!” he said, chuckling a bit. ”A Senzu Bean. That’s my way to truly thank you for what you’ve done. I hope this can save your life one day, just like you and Cleo saved mine!” his tone was kind and considerate and, once he handed over the bag, he pointed towards the table filled with food and water. ”So, Mister Jie, do you want to eat something before we start, or would you rather save them for after the training? I’m all set here, myself, but I don’t mind waiting at all!” he said in a calm tone.
Galen couldn’t hide the thrill in his eyes as he truly looked forward for their sparring session. He wanted to test his skill in the legendary Kikoukenjutsu Sword School against Jie’s own. He seemed quite capable with the blade, and moreover, he was absurdly strong. Galen wasn’t sure he could hold himself on a sparring against Jie for a long time, even if he was to release his pinkish ki.

The Earthling got on his feet and gave Jie Shan a bow, the hybrid expecting nothing less from Galen. The Earthling was a good seed, respectful and knew his manners. Jie Shan regarded him the way a teacher might regard a pleasant youth in a classroom: with good natured amusement. Still, Jie Shan winced when the young Earthling called him 'mister'. Jie Shan had explicitly told Galen not to call him that before. The hybrid was not especially fond of titles or honorifics being attached to his name, particular as always about his name. But instead of saying anything at all, Jie Shan simply shrugged it off. He got the feeling he was fighting a losing battle in that regard. Instead, he returned to the matter at hand. "No need to thank me, Galen," insisted Jie Shan, "I simply provided a place for you to lay your head during your recovery. Cleopatra is the one who rescued you and tended you. But I appreciate the sentiment all the same."
The Saiyan hybrid shrugged quite noticeably this time, as if to move the conversation onward. And it did, quite interestingly. The Earthling retrieved a small, simple bag and quickly gave it over to Jie Shan. The hybrid palmed it, weighing it in his hand. It felt very light, like the bag weighed more than the contents itself. He gave the Earthling a questioning look, but Galen was already explaining: the tiny sack contained one of the magical Senzu beans Galen had mentioned before. Jie Shan cocked an eyebrow in wide surprise. They were ready already? Surprise gave way to gratefulness, and Jie Shan gave him a nod. "Thank you, Galen," he said, "It'll be good to have something like this in my back pocket, just in case. If it ever saves me, remind me that I owe you one."
The Earthling pressed on until Jie Shan was presented with a choice: eat or fight? The two great loves of the Saiyan race stood before him, and now he was being forced to choose. He pursed his lips, visibly thinking. "You know what?" He said suddenly, "Let's go a round first."
In a flash, his hand was at his blade and he drew it in a single, swift, silvery motion. The blade gleamed in the sunlight, as much a part of Jie Shan as he was of it. "I've been itching to see what you can do, Galen," he insisted, "I can feel the strength within you."

Galen shook his head and chuckled a bit when Jie Shan said that if the senzu ever saved him, he would owe him one. ”We will be even, then. Not like I’m keeping score, though!” he said in a carefree tone. Then, when deciding in between eating or sparring, the hybrid saiyan chose the later and Galen was glad for that, as his expression grew quite excited, especially as Jie Shan drew his sword from the scabbard on his back. The blade gleamed and Galen, in turn, drew his sword too. When the hybrid said he was itching to see what the human could do, he made a brief nod to himself. ”I can feel it too, this uncanny power of yours! And as I am right now I can’t even dream to keep up, so… If you allow me, I will unleash my dormant power!” he said as he slid onto his fighting stance.
Galen’s legs spread opened a bit and his knees bent a bit too, showing his style used quite a lot of impulse and fast footwork. He held his blade with his two hands and put it in an upward angle in front of his body, slightly angled to his left side, with the tip of the blade aiming at Jie’s right eyeball, a quite menacing stance, truth be told. Once he was into his fighting stance, he flared a powerful pink colored ki aura that greatly enhanced his current energy level.
[Last Resort. PL: 365,031]
His power boost gave him a balanced increase in power, unlike Jie Shan’s normal energy, that fluctuated in terms of offensive power and defensive power, but Galen didn’t quite know that, the only thing he currently knew was that it was somehow difficult to determine how strong Jie Shan truly was, almost as if his energy signature increased and decreased all the time. ”Here we go…” he said, narrowing his eyes and frowning his brows. Unlike his strongest transformations, Galen’s Last Resort didn’t affect his mindset at all.
Galen dashed forward with all his available speed and, upon reaching melee range, he raised both his arms above his head and aimed to strike with a powerful vertical cut, aiming at Jie Shan’s head. He was more into testing Jie’s reflexes than actually aiming to strike him, showing he was a careful fighter.

The young Earthling man was going to release his power. Galen drew his own blade and gave a cry, ready to rumble. The Earthling took a fighting pose and leveled his blade right at Jie Shan's face. Jie Shan smirked. Good, he thought, the man was serious. No sense in fighting if they did not really go at one another.
The Earthling man released his energy, and a bright pink aura burning with power began to rage around his companion. Jie Shan felt a sudden spike of power, one that more than put Galen on par with Jie Shan in his base form. The hybrid gave a wide smile. Now this, he thought, was going to be interesting. This is what he had come for!
"Very good, Galen!" Exclaimed Jie Shan, "Now let's see you put that power to use and see if you know how to use that sword of yours!"
And perhaps he did. Galen shot forth like a speeding bullet, bursting through the air and crossing the ground. The man was a missile, quickly closing the distance, coming into melee range. All the while, Jie Shan subtly shifted the position of his feet, so automatically that he himself did not even notice his body correcting itself. This was the result of years worth of swordsmanship and training that put Jie Shan among the greatest swordsmen in the universe. And now he was facing someone who would likely soon join him on such echelon.
Galen raised his sword high, preparing himself and telegraphing an overhead swing. It seemed Galen had gotten in his head that he was a guillotine, glinting metal looking sharp and dangerous in the daylight. The boy brought the blade crashing down on Jie Shan, but Jie Shan was just as quick. His own blade came up to meet Galen's and the two pieces of steel clashed. The din of battle erupted as a small shock wave rocked the area, a result of the clashing blades. The sharp metallic ring of metal and metal filled the area, like a bell. Jie Shan grunted.
"Not bad, pal!" roared Jie Shan, "Put you're gonna have to try a little harder than that! Really show me you know how to swing that sword!"
Employing his fancy footwork, Jie Shan danced backwards and away from Galen, putting some space between the two, or at least trying to do so. Both of his hands were still on the hilt of his blade and his eyes were locked on to Galen. The battle was just starting.

The sole purpose of that vertical cut was to test Jie Shan’s own skill with the blade and, while Galen didn’t doubt he was wicked with it, it was a complete different feeling when you test for yourself. As swordsmen say: the blade speaks, and it truly did. The clash of metal was fierce enough to throw sparkles all over the place and to send gusts of wind away from the epicenter of the strike, showing just how powerful those two were. Jie Shan complimented him slightly but also said that he would have to try much harder and that made Galen smirk with the corner of his mouth. ”I’m just getting started!” he answered as they were about to continue that sparring session.
Jie Shan’s footwork was quite incredible and Galen was paying careful attention to it. ”He moves swifter than me… That’s going to be a problem, so I can’t let him have space!” he thought to himself as he noticed that the saiyan-elemi hybrid was trying to put some space in between them. He also held his sword with both his hands, meaning he was capable of employing a huge power as well as precision to his attacks. ”As if I would let you get away!” Galen roared, chuckling with the excitement of the battle as he once again dashed forward.
One powerful step towards Jie Shan, with his right leg, and Galen released his right hand from the hilt. He would forfeit the power of one hand, in exchange for a stronger power from his whole body, as he twisted his hips, using his right foot as support to try and hit the hybrid with a powerful sword strike to his left flank, aiming in between his ribcage and his pelvis, on the soft tissue area, the most vulnerable one on the flank of a person. Galen spun anti-clockwise, stretching his left arm, making sure the blunt side of the sword was the one to hit; this could be a serious spar with the two of them going all out, but he was by no mean trying to kill his friend.
”YYAAAAA!!!!” he roared as he attacked Jie Shan, putting, once again, all of his skill and power behind that attack. This wasn’t so much of a test now, but more of a way to try and press him to counter or do something; Galen had already analyzed how he blocked and his footwork, but that wasn’t nearly enough to fully evaluate Jie Shan’s style. And he knew all too well that the hybrid was likely evaluating his own too.

Indeed, thought the Master of the Light Blade, it was just getting started. Galen gave that war cry as they clashed, singing his defiance in the face of Jie Shan's defense. The young man was really getting into it! Even now as Jie Shan danced away from Galen, the Earthling was in hot pursuit of the alien hybrid, even going so far as to claim he was not going to let Jie Shan get away. And as Jie Shan's feet tapped gracefully against the ground, he gave a small smirk. They would see about that, wouldn't they? Still, Galen pursued with swift, deft, and powerful movements, advancing on Jie Shan with a sweeping step.
And already Galen was putting his next attack in to motion. Jie Shan's eyebrows reflexively raised as Galen let one hand free of his hilt; an unorthodox move in most schools of swordsmanship. Already, Jie Shan was moving back and raising his own blade, the position of his own blade posturing with each minute movement taken by Galen, ready to create a cage of steel to protect himself. Jie Shan's heart beat in anticipation as the boy swung around like a cyclone and took a swing at Jie Shan, using the blunt side of the blade. Striking like a serpent, Jie Shan raised his own blade to put an unceremonious stop to the attack, using the flat of his own blade, lest the edge damage or be damaged. Once again, the clarion call of clashing steel rang out over the dojo as the blades of two masters of the craft collided.
"You know, Galen!" Muttered Jie Shan excitedly as he held his blade in place for a moment, trying to lock the two together, "You're pretty good at pure swordsmanship!"
Regardless of whether his attempt to lock blades or not was successful, Jie Shan jumped backwards and away from Galen, once again moving to make space. His Saiyan blood was surging through his veins now, with fuel to the fire added by his Elemi ancestry. Jie Shan was a warrior! He was in his element! He could feel his heartbeat rising.
"Try and push me, Galen!" Roared Jie Shan, "Can you even push me to the level below Super Saiyan?!"
Jie Shan smirked at his foe and friend, waiting for the young swordsman to respond. Just how much longer were they going to feel each other out like this? Already, Jie Shan's blade was moving as if he were preparing to go on the offensive soon.
No matter how fiercely Galen pushed, Jie Shan showed a degree of mastery over the blade that dwarfed Galen’s own. His finesse and skill was incredible and his bladework was a masterpiece indeed. The way he managed to block his attack completely with the blunt side of his own blade. It was as if he was capable of anticipating Galen’s every single move and react accordingly. The human swordsman knew Jie Shan wouldn’t remain on the defensive for long and since he was still incapable of actually landing a hit, he knew he was in trouble. ”Not only he is fast, but the way he uses the sword… I’ve never seen someone as swift with the blade in my life…” he thought to himself, as he narrowed his eyes a tad bit more as the two locked together in a clash of blades.
Jie Shan complimented Galen’s swordsmanship, and that made the human chuckle a bit. ”You are too kind, Mister Jie. But I had never seen a swordsman as skilled as yourself!” he humbly admitted. Following that, Jie Shan jumped backwards, once again putting some distance in between them. It was clear in his eyes that he was enjoying this fight and Galen felt the same. Maybe not as intensely due to his calmer human blood, but still, he was too a warrior.
Jie Shan roared insisting that Galen should try and push him and wondered if he could make him go towards his below super saiyan form, or whatever that was. In truth, the only different form that seemed below super saiyan was the Great Ape he had faced when he met a few people in the cold north, but it was still daylight and, as far as he knew, they needed some sort of moon to turn, unless Jie Shan’s hybrid blood made him an exception. ”But it doesn’t seem likely. It would destroy the whole purpose of a swordfight. He must have another form… Just like my Last Resort power-up!” he thought to himself.
It was clear now that Jie Shan was about to take the offensive, but Galen wouldn’t allow that without showing him a little bit of the true potential of the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School. ”Alright, then! I will show you the true power of my sword school!” and with those words, Galen’s pink aura burned brighter and his sword gleamed with the pinkish hue of his ki. This time Galen a hell lot faster than before, getting close to Jie Shan again. His eyes were dead serious and he stared right into the hybrid’s eyes.
”Rapid…” and as he started shouting the name of his attack, he began trying to slash Jie Shan multiple times in rapid motions, coming from different angles at an amazing speed. ”Sword Stream!” he roared as he aimed for the final strike, after the flurry of attacks, which consisted of a vertical cut coming from above, unleashing all the power of the ki he poured onto his blade.
This attack was quite tiring, but he had to impose himself a bit and show he was a worthy opponent.

The Earthling swordsman complimented Jie Shan's own skills with blade, and Jie Shan gave a cocksure, lopsided grin. A haughty laugh escaped his throat, loud and clear like a ringing bell. The fire of battle was burning now, and it made his heart light and merry. The trading of blows was going swimmingly. Jie Shan was, at the moment, on the defensive, though he did not truly mind. The battle was casual enough, and the young hybrid knew he could change the entire flow of the battle in a fraction of a second if he truly so desired. But at the moment, he was simply enjoying the simple exchange of blows. There was a simple pleasure in this exchange of steel.
"Trying to make me blush, Galen?" He asked sardonically, "I'm afraid it won't make me go any easier on you!"
The Earthling gave a cry, shouting the power of his own bladed tradition. With that, the human's aura surged once again, bright pink and burning like some sort of ki-rose. The man's eyes drilled into Jie Shan's own, cutting like daggers. The right corner of Jie Shan's mouth curled up into a confident, curious half-grin. Were things about to get serious in this fight?
The Earthling began an onslaught of blows, moving so rapidly he even caught Jie Shan off guard. The sudden burst of speed... the boy really was going all out. It was all Jie Shan could do to manage the blows and take them best he could, the silver stream of stabbing steel coming at it from what seemed like all angles. And as the onslaught concluded, Galen brought down a single might overhead blow. Jie Shan twisted beneath the blade, trying to maneuver from out under the powerful blow, but as he moved, the blade caught his shoulder. A dull pain went through the side of his body and he grunted as he regained his composure and once again slipped away from Galen. Galen had managed to land a series of blows, proving he really knew how to handle that blade.
"Okay, Galen," he grunted, "Time for me to start taking you seriously! Let's see how you handle this!"
Jie Shan stood his ground, spreading his legs slightly as he took an intense stance; his tail swayed behind him dangerously, like a kind of brown, hairy serpent. His blade was held upright, a barrier of steel between him and his foe. He let out a low noise, somewhere between a growl and hum: "Gruh".
His energy coursed around him, silver-grey aura surrounding him like an electric fog. Something primal was working its way through his brain, like a river of molten metal. His hair rustled as the energy cloaked him, and a small bolt of lightning broke from his body and zapped the ground.
And in the blink of an eye, the silver-grey fog of power turned a dull shade of false-gold, like fool's gold. Not quite Super Saiyan, but not quite his normal state either. This was his hidden measure of power that had oft served him before he joined the ranks of legendary warriors.
"Let's take this up a notch, Galen!" He roared, charging the man with his blade, holding it to the side, flat side ready to strike. The world blurred around him as he moved, black eyes focused only on Galen. As he closed the distance and came within striking range, he suddenly slammed his foot into the ground and pivoted hard, changing the course of the blade into a counterclockwise slice at the rib cage of Galen. He grit his teeth and waited for impact.

Jie Shan took all of Galen's attack.
Transformed using Mastered Power. This is a x6/x5. Jie Shan's new PL: 1,536,186/1,280,155.
Jie Shan's aiming a basic melee at Galen for: 307,237.
The Rapid Sword Stream worked perfectly as it caught Jie Shan off-guard due to the sudden burst of speed Galen managed to tap in. The flurry of slashes were fierce, but also cautiously used in order to not actually cut him much, giving preference to the blunt side of the blade, even though it wasn’t always possible to hit him with that part. The final strike hit him in the shoulder and he grunted in pain as he once again put some distance in between the two of them. Galen went back to his normal fighting stance, and exhaled sharply, as he tried to recover his breath; the Rapid Sword Stream was a fearsome technique, but it took its tools on Galen’s stamina, as he had to push himself towards half his full capability for a moment, which could be quite tiring.
Jie Shan announced he would be taking the spar into the next level, and that alerted Galen quite a lot. ”Not good… I’m not back in full shape yet…” he thought to himself, knowing that if Jie Shan was to use a powerful technique, he would probably be exhausted. The hybrid changed his stance a bit, spreading up his legs and raised his blade, bursting quite a lot of energy from his body as his energy signature skyrocketed to an amount Galen wasn’t sure he could keep up even if he used all of his available power. The human narrowed his eyes and exhaled slowly. ”That means I have no choice…” he spoke mostly to himself. Galen didn’t particularly like to go beyond his Last Resort power-up because of the emotional implications it had, but with just how much stronger Jie Shan was becoming, he knew it was either that or call the sparring session to an end.
Galen flared his pink ki aura once again and tightened the grip around his sword. ”AAAAAHHHHHH!!!” he began screaming. Galen’s expression became quite tense and he seemed to be getting filled by anger, a deep anger. His blood ran through his veins like crazy and his skin began to turn from its natural tone to pink, much like his aura. Galen’s eyes became crimson red and filled with fury and his hair became purple and slightly spiked up, filled with his powerful ki energy. His aura became round in shape and pulsating in a high frequency.
[High Tension. PL: 1,216,770]
”Now I’m mad!” Galen’s power level skyrocketed too thanks to the unleash of his tension and, if Jie Shan wasn’t half-elemi, they would be pretty much on even grounds now. Jie Shan moved like a hurricane and, with the blunt side of his blade, he attacked him on the ribcage. Galen reacted quickly and tried to block the attack, however, the sheer power of the attack was enough to push Galen’s sword back against him and he suffered the impact of Jie Shan’s attacked, although greatly reduced in force.
Galen groaned angrily as he was pushed aside for a couple feet, dragging his feet across the floor of the wooden dojo. ”Is that all?!” he roared, gritting his teeth as he readjusted his fighting stance, which changed slightly into a more aggressive version of his stance. The human’s tone was also much more angry, almost as if he was trying to shell a blinding rage.
