Grey and white. That was the theme of the world around Jie Shan. It was the color of the sky, obfuscated by clouds laden with frozen water, ready to burst. It was the color of the ground, a monochrome mass of snow and stone, sprawling beneath him in every which direction as he floated in the air. It was like being in a cage, though awfully roomy. The grey swallowed him, as the dull tones of the north often did. Strangely, Jie Shan much preferred it to the harsh browns and oranges of the once-Planet Natto. Jie Shan liked to think that colors such as grey, white, and yes, even silver, suited him. Just as gold and teal were a part of him, so too were the monochrome tones of a cloudy sky.
It put him at ease. Which is likely why Jie Shan had taken up 'walks', if they could be called that. Of course, he often flew during them, so walking was not quite the right term, but he did not like to call it outright 'flying' or 'flies'. The former did not sound leisurely enough and the latter was not even a real noun. Or so Jie Shan thought, though he had never really looked it up when he pondered what to call his sky high dalliances. So, reluctantly, he had started to call them 'air-strolls', an utterly poorly constructed amalgamation of two sides that ought not be together. Much like himself, but he did not dwell on such thoughts for long.
Instead, he let his mind loose and let it wander, like a bird freed from a cage or a dog loosed from its leash. It went all about, too and fro, mind turning over future and what was to be. What did tomorrow hold for a young hybrid turncoat turned wannabe hero? Jie Shan knew what the past held and he wanted nothing of it. The past held nothing but daggers pushed up tight against his throat.
Shaking his head, Jie Shan forced himself away from both the past and the future and into the present. Saying goodbye to tomorrow and yesterday, Jie Shan took up today and began to fly through the air, moving at a brisk pace as the gelid air of the north bit at his cheeks and turned them rosy red with their nipping. This was in great contrast to the still newly shortened head of silver locks that sat atop his metaphorically overly large head.
Wrapped up in the present, Jie Shan descended to the power covered ground and settled into the white dust, letting his feet rest easy. Black leather boots flanked by grey jeans that were couple will a custom-cut dark brown leather jack made him stand out against the white, but if that were not enough, he soon drew his blade and set to twirling it about in practice. Never a dull moment for Jie Shan, he thought to himself. Always had to keep busy, be it the mind or body. Slowly, his energy began to rise naturally as he worked himself into training mode, making him stand out to any of the ki-abled residents of the north.
