The following takes place after the judgment of Jarvis, Defeated Caesar of the Cerulean Empire, which can be read here at Blackened Awakening, Lord Lagerus' Judgment.
Maikeru walked the peaceful grass that adorned the Sacred World of the Kais like a green garment. The young Shinjin felt emotionally exhausted about what had unfolded at the Check-In Station. He knew encountering the Cerulean demi-god would be a crisis in itself but Maikeru never would have dreamed it would end up how it did. The Northern Kaioshin wouldn't have pictured himself trying to plead with Jarvis to turn to repentance. Despite the judgment that Lord Lagerus had deemed a worthy punishment Jarvis deserved, Maikeru felt unsatisfied.
The one mortal who had managed to kill a god, a grievous crime on top of the genocides he had committed, was just whisked away to another dimension. No great penance, no execution, no long term sentence of penance. A vile nightmare just disappeared only to live in solitude. It almost felt like it never happened, a dream that Maikeru woke up from. Jarvis' exile seemed too easy for his crimes. The punishment, overall, did not sit well with the young Shinjin.
How could the God of Destruction, a being of death, understand trying to repair the loss of life that Jarvis had stolen? Will his exile help repair the worlds he had burned? Will his disappearance bring peace to those he had hurt? Does his solitude bring back King Yemma?
"Yemma...." Maikeru fell to his knees as he remembered the noble deed the late king performed. He could feel tears of sorrow well up in his eyes. "I cannot believe you did that, you fool." Maikeru felt indebted to the large ogre's sacrifice. The giant red man shielded the Northern Kaioshin from Jarvis' rampage. Maikeru's hands clenched the grass in frustration. "If only I was more powerful you would still be alive, dear friend."
He may have never had much of an opportunity to know Yemma personally, but Maikeru felt closer to the deceased ogre than ever before. Giving your life for your faith and duty, the Shinjin could understand that. If Yemma was still alive the Northern Kaioshin would have given his sincere gratitude to the oni king. Maikeru's heart sank as he wept for the great loss to the Upper Heavens.
