[Thread PL: 81,520 base. 20,380 with Heavy Weights on]
Atsuko ended up in East City. Currently it was night time, and that meant most of the more interesting places were closed. And there were more than a few shady individuals roaming the streets... The Knight merely kept her distance, even if she would prefer to put an end to crime, it was just going to result in problems if she just blindly started assaulting people. No, instead she turned her gaze to one of the locales that was open! A casino. A rather large and successful one at that. This was the most popular Casino in the entire city.
The Albino Saiyan decided to enter the casino to see what it had to offer. Somehow, it looked even larger on the inside than it did on the outside... It was overly extravagant as well. Lots of red carpeting, and fancy floor tiles. Decorative paintings and the like, honestly it was rather amazing to take in. But there was also the fact that it was absolutely packed with people. Who all seemed to be stealing glances at the Knight... Not just because she stuck out like a sore thumb, but more like because they were recognizing her somehow. That was odd to the Saiyan.
She had never been here before, but maybe it was just some sort of misunderstanding. The Knight didn't pay it much mind and continued to explore the casino. All of the games here looked like they wouldn't be much fun, honestly... And they seemed rigged to the favor of the casino's owners. Well, the Albino Saiyan supposed that did make sense. But she didn't find much sport in it. Maybe this type of scene wasn't for her... The people here really didn't seem to like her. It wasn't just the patrons look at her. The staff were, too.
Or at least, they looked like they were staff. Their type of uniform looked like it came from a different era. Fedoras, suspenders and the like. Made them look like thugs and gangsters. But not the type that you would find on the street or in the wilds. These were the 'refined' types. The ones that would get their nose into the bigger and dirtier style of crimes. Hidden away in the dark depths of the public. Honestly, the Saiyan was starting to feel a little uncomfortable, maybe it was the right time to leave. As she began to make her way to the exit...
Two of those 'staff' stopped her. "Think ya can just come back here and we wouldn't notice? Ya made a mess of things last time. Boss don't like that none.", one of them spoke in a threatening tone. At this point, Atsuko noticed that the other patrons were being led outside of the casino, or into other rooms... And now the staff were all taking up tactical positions in order to surround her. "I think you have me confused for someone else.", she replied. Though didn't seem that he cared to hear her reply.
Instead he pulled a gun. Atsuko responded by smacking it out of his hands and following up with a punch to his face. She released a small Ki blast in the direction of the other thug. With those two taken care of, the Knight dives to cover as the casino is covered in a hail of bullet fire. From every single direction that the Knight could fathom, there were sounds of an automatic assault weapon being fired full burst. The Knight moved from cover to cover as fast as she could manage. The thugs had a hard time keeping up with her movements.
That was fortunate, none of them were very strong at least. The Albino Saiyan was able to jump up out of cover and take down each of the thugs. While she was able to move fast and defeat them just as fast, it was a fairly slow process because of how many there were to deal with, and given how spread out they were... It didn't take them long to catch onto what was happening either, they all started to move in order to adapt. But there was plenty of cover for the Saiyan to use against them.
Finally their numbers were beginning to thin out, however. Atsuko didn't need to stay in cover for as long. Technically the bullets weren't even a threat to her... But it made for good training, avoiding every single attack that people sent at her. She couldn't do it in a serious fight against someone near her level, but in this case it was definitely easy enough to manage... Well, easy isn't the right word. It was actually pretty difficult to outrun an entire squad that's constantly firing onto your position whenever they can manage it. But we've already established what Saiyans like.
But time was on the Knight's side, finally she had knocked out each of the thugs that tried attacking her for no reason. A case of mistaken identity... Was this what her sister was warning her about? Cambia did say not to head east, after all. Well, Atsuko didn't really mind. She wasn't forced to kill anyone, maybe that would do her little sister some favors. Besides that, Atsuko got some practice in as well. Overall it was proving to be a win-win type of situation. As the Albino Saiyan mused on that in the now silent casino...
She felt eight distinct power levels come out of the side rooms. They were stronger than the average human, if she had to wager a guess, they knew how to use Ki. They hopped down from the balconies and began to surround the Albino Saiyan. The Knight only gave a small shrug, and then assumed stance. Guess it was going to be a little easy if it ended with knocking out a room full of goons... Oh well, the Knight was enjoying the thrill of a good fight. She wondered what the result of all of this would prove to be!
Two rushed at once, one throwing a punch, and the other throwing a kick. Atsuko moved her arms and blocked each attack.[/a][/i] "Now this is more like it.", the Knight stated. She forced the two goons back and then as another pair rushed at her, she flew into action by punching one. He attempted to block, but it honestly didn't help much considering the difference between their strength. Atsuko spun around, carrying through on momentum and kicking the other one, who was taken by surprise at how fast she was able to pull that off. They may have been stronger than the average human...
But they still didn't compare to the Albino Saiyan. The first pair that she had blown away were rushing towards her again, she extended her arms out, pointing her palms at the two. Atsuko began to gather her Ki, and then she unleashed the energy. It was just another basic Ki blast for them, but they proved to be plenty to knock those two out of the battle. So that took care of half of the group that came out to fight the Saiyan. She once more resumed proper stance. They began to get the idea that they needed more than two.
So this time, the remaining four closed the distance. And they were pressing the offensive as much as they could manage. Atsuko was evading each punch and kick that was sent her way. Though it was proving quite taxing to just keep that up. She saw her opening an took it, the Albino Saiyan sent a precise strike towards the neck of the thug that was attacking her from the front. Soon after his body went limp, now just three to cope with. She didn't have an opening on them yet. Just be patient...
Finally she was able to spot another opportunity, she repeated the same method, another precise strike at the neck and another one was removed from the battle. Now there was just two remaining. Slowly she was regaining the advantage, it was getting easier to evade the attacks that were directed at her. In light of that, Atsuko decided to no longer make use of her Pressure Point Strike in order to deal with them. She'd only need normal attacks in order to deal with them. Suddenly, their flurry of blows stopped and they backed off slightly, the Saiyan watched them carefully...
They both began charging up attacks. The Albino Saiyan closed her eyes, and as both beams barreled towards her... She vanished from the spot, she reappeared behind one, kicking him. And then she made use of her speed once more to close the distance on the other, kicking him as well. Atsuko then landed on the ground and looked around at the battle worn casino. "Jeez... All of this over a misunderstanding. I really need to have a talk with Cambia at some point...", she said to herself as she then let out a sigh. At least no innocents were harmed.
The Albino Saiyan turned towards the exit of the building, and then yet another power level caught her attention... This one was even higher than the eight thugs she ended up fighting. Whoever it was, they were making their way down from an elevator. The Knight turned in order to watch the approach. Finally the doors slid open and to her surprise, it was a rather lean and well dressed man. He walks over to the edge of the balcony, sipping an alcoholic drink as he examines all of the destruction in his business. Then his gaze settled onto the Saiyan.
"Gotta admit. You really outdid yourself this time, Cambia. Was it really necessary to make such a mess?", he spoke in a surprisingly calm tone of voice. Atsuko merely shook her head. "I'm not Cambia. And your thugs decided to attack first. You can blame the destruction on them.", she responded. And he gave a nod as reply. "Point. They acted hasty, and your method of fighting. It doesn't have that... Flair. That lust for blood and destruction. You didn't kill anyone, and these idiots just made a mess of things.", he added. His expression turning from calm to anger.
"Idiots. Idiots! IDIOTS!! The lot of you! You're all fired!", he shouted. And then he began to calm back down as he stared at Atsuko. "That being said. I don't think I can just let you walk away. I'm going to guess that you're a family member of hers. And she's done a lot of damage here. Damage that you're going to repay.", he stated as he then finished his drink, dropping the glass. He didn't care about the mess. The place was in shambles anyway. He hopped down from the balcony and began to walk towards the Knight.
Atsuko gauged his power to be roughly half of her own, slightly higher than half actually. But she wasn't making use of her Scouter to make it a more accurate estimation. Whatever the case was, it didn't seem like talking was going to be of much more use now. The Saiyan proceeded to take stance, and he did the same. Finally they both charged at once. He was the first one to attack, charging Ki with his hand and then throwing it towards Atsuko with one hand. It was a fairly powerful attack, but... Atsuko drew her sword, responding with her Holy Sword Wave.
Her attack was more powerful by comparison, and began to overtake the man's attack. His advance had been halted by the sheer strength that was packed into the Knight's blow, she wasted little time in closing the distance, using Holy Enhancement on her sword and slashing at him. He wasn't able to react in time in order to evade the blow. He's sent flying back from the force, but manages to steady himself before he crashes into the wall. He brings his hands together, firing off a Ki barrage at the Albino Saiyan.
She stands there, taking the blow which proved to hurt only a little. The Albino Saiyan dusts herself off slightly, and then she flies towards the casino's owner as fast as she could manage. Holy Energy enveloped the Saiyan in her entirety as she crashed into him, and proceeded to half bury him into the wall. That was the blow that did him in, he was unconscious now. Atsuko once more landed, and glanced around the casino. If she had to guess, this place was going to be closed down for renovations... Too bad, it DID look pretty nice when she first arrived...
Well, at least it was quiet now. The Albino Saiyan walks over to the counter that was originally being used to serve drinks to patrons. She pours herself a glass of water, and then takes a seat. "Phew... I don't know what my sister keeps getting herself into... She worries me.", she mused to herself. Taking a sip of the water, and then setting the glass on the counter. She had the entire place to herself at the moment. It was a nice change of pace to have it be so quiet in a city. It allowed her to think on everything that has happened.
Her little sister was half demon... And she was struggling every single day in order to survive. There was probably a point where she didn't want to use her powers to hurt others. But now... She had been pushed to the point where she didn't care anymore. Cambia was giving in more and more to her demonic side. And while the Albino Saiyan could raise several points as to why her little sister needed to resist... Cambia could raise just as many points as to why she shouldn't. It wasn't an easy thing to deal with.
As a candidate to become Kami, Atsuko honestly didn't have an idea on what to do. If she helps her sister, it protects the World. So that's naturally what she leans towards. But she also wants to be there to comfort Cambia. She can't do that if she's constantly berating her for her choices. The Albino Saiyan gave out a small sigh as she pondered it all over. "I can't even really say it's in defense of the world... I just want my little sister to be happy. It's a selfish reason.", she then said to herself.
Could people judge her for it? There were certainly some that would... After all, there were just as many that hated Cambia for the simple fact that she bore Saiyan and Demon blood in her veins. They never even attempted to understand her. It all culminated into what her little sister became today. Maybe, if she ended up being Kami, she could allow Cambia to live at the Lookout. It was a safe place, far from the reaches of everyone else... She could help the hybrid cope with her violent and criminal tendencies. It wasn't a bad start to things.
But Cambia did mention wanting to give a beating to the Kami for everything that happened. That further complicated matters, the Albino Saiyan didn't have any idea how her sister would react to the fact that she was currently trying to take up such a position. The previous Kami... Bing Gan, for whatever reason had decided that Atsuko was one of the most suitable choices. But even despite that, she still needed to be tested. Ever since that day, she's just been waiting for some sort of confirmation on her performance. Honestly, everything that happened back there was pretty hazy...
But she remembered Nasu. The cruel Saiyan that wanted to crush anything under heel that showed resistance. He didn't respond well to someone telling him what to do, even if it was to protect Earth. Atsuko couldn't back down against someone like that, and she fully had no intentions to do so. But how Bernael reacted... Was she going too far? She could have ended the fight with a single attack, if she wanted to. All Atsuko had to do was remove her weighted cape and then it would be done with. The Albino Saiyan thought she was being merciful.
Maybe she wasn't. It's not like she had any intents to kill him either. But she still couldn't appear weak. The Knight had to be prepared to make tough decisions. Not everyone would be willing to just lay down arms and become friends. Bernael was used to being able to do that. She hoped that it wouldn't end up breaking him one day. He was a really nice guy... Maybe too nice. That brought her attention to Jarvis next, the blue Saiyan that seemed to be manipulating the half demon to his favor. She didn't have the highest opinions of him.
Frankly, she found him infuriating. The way he spoke so obnoxiously about others, a cocky grin that he seemed to wear to every occasion. But... Like Cambia, maybe there was something that made him like that. A rough history seemed to be the magic answer. Atsuko was raised in a wonderful setting, she really was lucky... But they weren't. So many people didn't have that same luck. It didn't sit well with her. Atsuko wanted to do something to change it, but she's just one person. Even if Kami meant being 'God of Earth'. She was still just one person.
She couldn't rewrite laws of the universe. She couldn't enforce her views upon everyone. Trying to keep a single world under order was going to be difficult enough. Earth had so many challenges. It wasn't just Saiyans, though they were currently the most prominent issue. So destructive, so hateful... She saw firsthand what one of them could do to Humanity. The Saiyan Child with the long hair, he was able to beat everyone within an inch of their life without a second thought. Just because he had a bad day. So where was the line drawn? Did she side with the people that were forced to survive in extreme conditions?
Or did she join the others that were now justified in their hatred of those people? Being neutral sounded like the best choice but... It didn't change anything. Could she convince them to change with just words? Was Atsuko in the right if she used her powers to force change to happen? The more she wracked her mind with questions, the more she found herself responding 'I don't know'. She leaned back in her chair, looking up at the ceiling with a frown. "Am I really ready for this?"
'I don't know'. Yet again. Perhaps she was being too hard on herself. And very possibly she was just overthinking it all... And not a soul around to share her story with, she sits up straight and then takes another sip of water, now leaning against the counter. "Heh... Some Kami. End up in a huge fight, then get depressed... They never talk about this type of stuff in history.", she mused. Then taking another sip from the glass. Maybe she'd need to meet up with her friends and have a chat with them, that always seemed to brighten up the day.
Or hell, she could speak to the Assistant. The Namekian... Arion, was his name? Atsuko couldn't quite recall now. Her mind was under too much of a haze at the moment. The Albino Saiyan sets the glass back down, and leans back in the chair once more. She lets out another sigh. No one was here to see her current state, so that was something at least. She didn't want people to get worried. A Kami needs to put up a tough front, she had decided. She won't be the one that's afraid. People had enough on their minds...
It wasn't healthy to bottle it up, sure. But Atsuko didn't see any better way, she'd find ways to cope with it. Meditation, maybe just good old training. She was beginning to feel like there was a potential awakening within her, but it was something vague. Still far off. It could just be a placebo due to her Saiyan heritage as well. 'Keep training, it feels good.', and the like. "So... What should I do next?", she asked. 'I don't know' came up again. Maybe Atsuko would just sit here for awhile. It was kinda peaceful now.
Barring how it all looked, anyway. The Knight picked up the glass of water and proceeded to finish it off, she sets the glass back down on the counter, and just... Examines the casino once more. Why were Saiyans like this? They all seemed to measure success by how big they could make piles of destruction... And here she was, one of the same race and she couldn't feel anything positive out of it. Instead, Atsuko just felt as lost and confused as she always had. What was the point of it all? Was it really the case that there was just no answer?
The Saiyan wouldn't be satisfied with such a conclusion, but it was just about the only one that made any sense at this point. "Well, Bing Gan... I hope it's all working out like you planned... I hope it starts making sense to me, too.", she said to no one in particular. It was highly doubtful that the illusion was sentient, and even if it was... It would probably be all the way back on the Lookout. Was it even an illusion? The Knight honestly didn't know, it could have all just been one big coincidence.
Atsuko really didn't take any time to slow down, after all... Easy enough to just chalk it up to hallucination of some sort. But even if that was the case, she couldn't deny what the Lookout was. It was clearly a place of some importance. And Kami wasn't just some made up word... She had heard it a few times during her studies, and the people near that strange tower that connected to the floating palace. They seemed to know that title as well. So even if the Albino Saiyan wrote it all up to mere hallucination and misunderstanding on her part...
There was too much evidence to say otherwise... Besides, the haze from the fight was beginning to fade away. The Albino Saiyan was able to recall everything that happened on the Lookout. She wasn't just a mere candidate anymore. She actually was Kami. The Knight wasn't sure what to really think of it. Other than the fact that it meant that she couldn't just sit here moping the entire day away... Not while people like Nasu continued to threaten Earth. If she wanted a home for her little sister, she had to make one and keep it safe.
The Knight decided it would be by any means necessary. "It's the only way... I have to be prepared to do harsh things. Not everyone will listen to reason, I just have to accept that.", the Saiyan stated to herself. Arion was there to help her, he had proven a wise mentor that ended up giving her a test to further bolster her confidence. That Sacred Holy Water... It was potent stuff. That was definitely still under a haze for the moment... But even setting that aside, she also had Bernael and Tau. They were both strong and capable fighters.
The more she thought about it, the more she was certain that everything was going to work out just fine. So the Knight rose from the chair that she was sitting on. This place was a mess, and there was no reason to stay here any longer. Atsuko carefully stepped over each of the unconscious thugs that littered the floor, as well as anything that had been knocked out of place. Honestly, she didn't envy whoever had to clean all of this up... But they were the first ones to strike, she was merely defending herself due to a case of mistaken identity.
Which reminded her, the Albino Saiyan needed to have a talk with her little sister about all of this. Whatever she did must have been really bad if it got the attention of such powerful people. The Knight wanted the best for her sister, but she couldn't make that happen if Cambia did nothing but cause destruction and death wherever she went... Hopefully the hybrid would see reason on that front. Atsuko would just have to make her see it! She told herself that if only to stop being so worried about everything for a change. It wasn't the time for hesitation.
It was the time for action. Finally the Saiyan stepped outside of the Casino. There was no doubt that it would be closed for renovations once everyone came to. Furthermore, there wasn't anyone around. Everyone must have decided to head home, and she was rather surprised to see no law enforcement arrive. Though even if they did come and try to capture her... Atsuko would just leave before the situation escalated. It's not like they would be able to chase her that far. Or at least, that's what she had decided as she mused to herself.
Atsuko took a moment to make sure all of her gear was in order. She situates her armor and robes. Makes sure that her sheath is properly secured, as well as her sword decidedly not going anywhere unless she wanted it to... Then, the Saiyan took flight. Just like that, she began to leave East City behind. "I can't doubt myself anymore... Bing Gan wouldn't have just chosen me lightly. Earth doesn't need someone that's scared, it needs someone strong that it can depend on... So I'll be that person.", the Albino Saiyan affirmed to herself as she flew into the skies.
As far as she was concerned, nothing was going to stop her now. To be faced with such a monumental duty... It filled Atsuko with determination.
