Finally. A day to himself. No training. No berating. No one telling him or asking if he was weak or how weak he was. They were annoying. Tarro and Carva. Annoying in the sense that their methods were extremely annoying and tedious for him. He loved getting stronger, really, he did. But damn it. There was only so much he could take before he found himself really trying to rip his two instructors apart. And, by result of action, get destroyed himself. But wasn't that apart of the whole Saiyan experience? Get angry, fight, get kicked the shit out of, get stronger, repeat. The whole shebang. In a way, Ren liked it. He enjoyed the idea that he was being trained by two veterans who knew their stuff. Plus, while Tarro was strict and straight as a plank, his methods yielded results. And, so did Carva's. Though he was much more lax, he made up for it through brutal, more rigorous training. Even by visual, one could tell which teacher caused the youth more bruises. Hell, Carva was responsible for Ren's first face scar. The lad had a X right on his left cheek.
Today, Ren was alone. Sitting atop a roof in the capital of Saiya. His feet swinging freely, his hands keeping him rooted. The view he had was wondrous. He was capable of seeing the developing city and the citizens who resided on Saiya. It wasn't very, well, Saiyan-like, but he really liked it. He was a different one. While he himself lacked knowledge of Natto, he was quite like him. Alignment wise, anyways. For all he knew, he and the former ruler and father of the current King were completely parallel. Ren propped himself up after a moment. Sitting on his toes, heels lifted. His arms resting on his knees. He sat like a certain web-head super hero that the kids on Earth were familiar with. While Ren wanted to be alone, he had to wonder. What was beyond Saiya? Sure, he had been to plenty a planet before. Wreaking havoc as Saiyans did. But never did he actually relax and learn. Was he even allowed to do something like that? Just...leave? Who knew. Erm...well, someone probably knew. Just not him.

Tomina was humming to herself as she was walking through the streets of the capital. She had just recently obtained a new level of power. Granted the method which she obtained them in was a little disgusting, but she had it, and that's all that mattered right now! At this rate she was going to be a commander within the month. She did have the power for it at this point. Although she needed to wield results as a squad commander. Her preparations were almost complete. Once she had officially formed her squad, she would put them through her own personal training. They would be turned into fine warriors for the kingdom.
As she walked through the streets, she sensed a fairly strong energy signature. It clearly belonged to a Saiyan, and it was coming from... above her? Tomina looked up, and saw a pair of feet hanging off a rooftop above. She floated up and touched down on a building right next to the one the other Saiyan was on. She saw that it was the young one that had shown up with the others to help calm down the situation between Carva and the Queen. Tomina bent both her knees, putting one hand on her cheek as she looked over at him.
"You're one of the Saiyans who showed up when Carva and Queen Kinoko lost control. That was really brave of you, considering how much higher their powers were then yours. I never got a chance to talk to you afterwards. What's your name, kid?"
(OOC. Tomina doesn't have a heart on her cheek like she does in the picture. I'm not a super good editor though, and this time I couldn't edit it out without ruining the picture. So pretend it isn't there. XD)[/spoiler]
Ren found himself counting how many Saiyans he saw. They varied but somehow looked all the same from a distance. Warriors wore armor and were ready for combat at any moment. Civilians wore regular wear and walked aimlessly. Some walked with determination. They knew where they wanted to be and when. Counting them was akin to counting sheep. One, two, three. One by one. The young lad sitting back again and laying on his back. He had noticed a really strong energy signature headed his way but chose to dismiss it. He didn't know it was Tomina. Nor did he know that she was giving him any time of her day. Well, that was nice of her. The boy fixed himself accordingly, sitting up and paying attention to the woman. Blinking and nodding at her mention of him being the youth who appeared at the conflict.
"Um yeah. That was me. Rensu. My names Rensu. You're..?"

"You must be new here if you don’t know my name. Some Saiyans heard Nasu’s call, but weren’t able to show up in time for the battle. I’m Squad Captain Tomina. It’s always a pleasure to run into a new Saiyan comrade. It’s been 8 years since I’ve last been in the company of my kin.”
Tomina sat down, dangling her feet over the edge. Her necklace swaying from side to side as she looked at the youth with interest. Her gaze landed on the x-shaped scar on his cheek.
“You’ve had a taste for combat before that in the throne room I see. It’s rare for a Saiyan as young as you to have a scar on this era. Tell me, did you get it in a battle, or by training?”
"New, not so much. Just call me ignorant to my seniority. I've been kinda out of the know about captains and squad leadership. Mostly 'cause I'm not assigned to one. So it doesn't make sense to really brush up onwho's who. Eh." He shrugged. Ren's eyes wandered over to the skies again. He seemed to have some kind of fixation with it. Maybe Tomina could see he had some sort of yearning to really explore. Alternatively, she likely couldn't. Saiyans weren't the type to read into emotions and looks and whatever else one could really associate with that. "I'd like to say the same. If it weren't for most of my elders having the need to drive my face into the floor, I'd be a lot more happy to meet you, Ms. Tomina." The lad responded. He did look over to her with a smile, showing he had no quarrel with her. Not in the slightest.
His smile disappeared as she mentioned his cheek mark. His eyes moving back to the heavens and what they hid from sight. His eyebrows furrowing as he readied his reply. "I'd say a mix of both. I've been learning under Carva and Mr. Tarro for a little while. The scar is from Carva. We were training and I slipped and my face landed on a stone. It sucked but I survived right?" His weight was shifted onto his right arm. Ren's upper torso shifting to be more towards Tomina. For a kid, his face was hardened. His cheeks weren't soft or rounded and the shape of his eyes could compare to seasoned Saiyans. "Im sure you know both of 'em well." He stated.

Tomina frowned as the young Saiyan gave his rather laid back attitude when it came to knowing the names of his fellow Saiyans. That defiantly had to change.
“You don’t have to learn the names of every Saiyan in our group, but you at least need to know who stands above you in rank. Some higher ranking Saiyans will take it as an insult if you don’t know who they are. Plus they’ve worked hard to get to where they are. You need to show them respect and address them properly.”
Tomina smirked when Rensu commented that most of the elder Saiyans had been trying to beat him into the ground. Well, that was to be expected when it came to training with others with their kind. Training sessions could get rather intense. When he brought up Tarro and Carva, Tomina nodded her head at the younger Saiyan, her smirk growing a little wider.
“Aye, I know them both well. I recruited them as members as my squad. You get to handpick the people who work under you once you get to a high enough rank. As long as the higher ups don’t have any objections. You got that scar by slipping on a rock? You’re quite the humble Saiyan. Most Saiyans I know would have lied and made up some cool story about how they got that scar. You don’t seem the slightest bit embarrassed about tripping on a rock.”
Tomina’s smirk faded as she watched Rensu’s gaze turned upward. He seemed more interested in the sky then her. Her head tilted upward was well, looking up into the wide sky.
“Where does your gaze lie Rensu? Towards the past, or the future. You clearly aren’t in the present right now. At least, not fully.”
Ren turned his head to face Tomina as she expressed her disdain for his views on knowledge over leadership. His eyebrows fixed so that one was raised while the other lowered. Giving him an inqusitive look as well. He'd need defend his way of looking at things without coming off as rude or wrong.
"I know that. But the people who matter, I know right? The King, Queen, Tarro, Carva, you, Karota. Im sure there's more but they haven't turned up in interest for me. Im not saying they didn't earn their position, but it just feels like a waste of memory to remember names that'll never be of, I guess...association with me? Is that a good way to put it?" Ren shrugged a bit. Tilting his head and raising both brows.
He chuckled a bit as she mentioned that she knew both well. "Of course you know 'em. Its like every adult knows each other. I guess that's what happebs when we're reduced to a small group like we are now. Like a small town, y'know."
His chuckle faded to a frown of his own. She picked up on his cues. "I guess my gaze is pointed towards the future. I've been thinkin'. About how strong I need to be to make a difference around here. Everyone's a Super Saiyan, now. It's like some kind of Saiyan God was having a bargain sale to transform. That, coupled with the fact that I've been thinkin' bout exploring. Like other planets and learning a thing or two. Don't tell anyone, but I've thought about picking up and heading out in the dead of night here and there." He turned his head and smiled wide. He wasn't able to see her potential disapproval.

“You’re selling yourself too short for a Saiyan. You’re as strong as I was at your age. One day you’re going to get a very high rank if you work hard enough for it. Then everyone will have to know your name. You have to make them want to get to know you. By reputation if nothing else.”
Indeed, they all were a small community at this point. All of them knew one another. For the most part anyway. Rensu seemed to be an exception from both sides of things. Oh well, they knew each other now.
“It’s one of my jobs to know all viable candidates for my training program. Carva is strong, but he has to learn a proper fighting style. Part of my job is making sure that everyone is as ready for combat as possible. The more advantages you have, the greater your chance of survival are.”
When Rensu brought up leaving though, a change came over Tomina. The air around her seemed to get hotter, and she was staring at Rensu intently. She was glad she had a talk with him now. She needed to make sure he didn’t make a suicidal decision.
“You’ll get strong enough in time. I can even teach you to become a Super Saiyan: it’s not as impossible as it seems to be. I helped triggered Tarro’s transformation. You just need to know which buttons to push. As for leaving on your own, you can try if you want to. You’ll be branded a traitor if you leave without authorization though. We have a rival Saiyan faction out there, so if someone leaves without permission,it’s going to look rather suspicious. You’ll get to see other places eventually. Get any ideas of leaving on your own out of your head. Otherwise I’ll have to drag you back. That is the last thing you want.”
While Tomina had not lost her temper, her narrowed eyes made it clear as to how serious she was being. She was going to have to work with this one. She thought Carva and the others were capable of whipping recruits into shape. Apparently had had overestimated his abilities on being able to condition other Saiyans. It looked as though she would have to take things into her own hands. The air around her cooled down, her face softening until there was no trace of the harshness that had been there earlier.
“I won’t tell anyone as long as you don’t act on it. I’ll attribute this to you being new and not fully understanding the rules. I don’t want you to even thinkabout going on your own again. You will not leave this planet without authorization, got it?”
"Of course I will. With time. Time and progression. Right." Ren nodded in agreement. He knew that given time, he'd ascend in rank. But time was not on the boy's side. It was either get his strength up or get lost. That's how he saw it. It was a bad mentality to hold, but it became a staple for him. He saw how Carva relied on his brute power in itself. That his most redeeming quality, at least to the boy. For all he knew, the Elite was better than he could've ever known. "If they wanna get to know me, then they'll get to know me." Ren huffed, shaking his head some.
He was interested in what she said. Because of her position, she needed to know who was who, their overall battle readiness and potential in combat. If that was the case, was he not viable? Or at least enough to be scouted earlier? Damn it. It was starting to show how useless he was right about now. His position changed to be a bit more glum. His shoulders dropping and eyes lowering to the city streets. He listened closely to her sords and overall projection. Hell, he could feel the heat coming off of her. Something told the lad she did not like the idea of him leaving on his own.
"..Yes ma'am. I'll forget about even thinking about it." The lad conceded to his senior. Choosing not to argue his desires. It wouldn't be smart.

Honestly, what was with this kid? He seemed to get down way too quickly. Seriously, what was with this kid? This was not the kind of attitude a Saiyan was supposed to have. She was going to have to find out what exactly was on his mind that causing him to be in this state. Still, at least he seemed to get the point she made. He did say he wasn't going to even think about it, although only time would tell. Still, she would focus on his current behavior. She turned her gaze back down the young Saiyan, looking over at him.
"You make them get to know you. Nothing is going to happen if you just sit there and let things get the better of you. You're a Saiyan! Our race is the strongest in existence! If we want something enough, we take it! If you need to get stronger, then simply train hard and correctly and past your limits! Don't let whatever is getting you down prevent you from achieving greatness!
Tomina's eyes studied Rensu's body carefully. She wanted to see the small reactions that he would likely have to her words. Or maybe it would be a bigger reaction. That would be better then what was going on currently anyway. Hopefully she would be able to get the young warrior out of his slump.
Rensu listened to Tomina. She sounded a bit annoyed but encouragement rang through his words. It just took a strong ear to pick the good from her without taking it as an insult. Or what he wasn't. From the streets, Ren looked over the city fully. His eyes up and looking forward. Not up nor down. His head was being yanked from the clouds and into reality. Tomina was correct. She had been telling the lad truths. As a Saiyan, he had to take what he so desired. He was going to have to shut the hell up, no- Rensu had to use his voice. Make his squad members know him and who he was when the time came. He needed to use the roar, spirit and traits that came with being a Saiyan. No matter what. Super Saiyan or not. He was what he was: A red-blooded, pure blooded, powerful Saiyan. He needed to find his backbone in life. Not just in combat. No one liked a wuss or someone who took taking second place over first from fear. Those people went nowhere with their aspirations.
His fist tightened. His arm tensed. Small movements were made that showed reaction. Tomina had gotten through to him. He needn't be in this strange rut that he had placed himself in by himself. He was better than that. The lad decided he'd stand up. He was but a meager five-four, but it was something. He had some muscle mass to make up for it. His distraught frown had flipped upside down, into a confident smirk. Between Tomina and Tarro, he had been getting enough actual positive reinforcement and reminders that it made a difference. He definitely differed from the average Saiyan and showed more traits displayed by Earthlings undergoing the wonderful shift to adulthood. But all he needed was a push.
His fist remained tight and closed. His head turned for Tomina. It was a sudden change in emotion but it was true. "Right. He nodded. "A Saiyan has no time to doubt himself."

“Or herself. There’s more than one gender you know.”
Tomina wasn’t usually the type to correct something so minor. Although that was something that she wanted to remind others. Women Saiyan could be just as powerful as the males, if not more. Tomina’s biggest inspiration has been the most famous Saiyan in the modern era, and she had been a woman.
Still, Tomina was glad to see that Rensu was starting to get pulled out of his slump. Her words were definitely reaching him. Now she had to continue bolstering him further. She wasn’t going to let him fall back down again.
“That's right Rensu. The only thing to do is to keep pressing onward, even in the face of adversity. There will be times when you will fear despair. Hang onto what’s the most important to you can keep moving forward. Tell me Rensu, what’s your motivation for fighting? Why are you a part of the Kingdom?”
Tomina wanted to get to know more about him as she kept him out of his slump. She needed to know all she could about the most significant members of the Saiyan Galatic Kingdom. This kid wasn’t the strongest one out there. But the fact that he was a kid while being this strong meant that he was going to be very powerful in the future. And Tomina wanted to make sure that power was on their side.
He nodded in acknowledgement and was sure to flash a thumbs up. He wasn't too sure as to why she chose to mention the fact that there was more than just the male sex. Maybe she was hinting to the obvious fact that female Saiyans were just as powerful, if not stronger, in comparison to their male counterparts. He lowered his hand after a moment and turned. His whole body facing Tomina and his eyes locking onto hers. Either he was more respectful than his brethren or he just wasn't interested at all, but Rensu found it kind of funny; Other Saiyans often sized up and checked out members of the opposite sex at any moment they were given. His smile remained on his lips, though it was more subtle. He wasn't grinning from ear to ear, rather he was simply placed into a better, uplifted mood.
But, she had asked him a question that he ultimately had no answer for. It was the type to have no technically wrong answer, yet he failed to have one prepared. His eyebrows lifted as he found himself blank. Eyes moving up from Tomina's face and up over her. Looking straight and suddenly emotionless. Eyes cracked wide open.
"I...Uh..I dunno. I dunno what Im fighting for. I never really questioned why or what made me a part of the Kingdom. I just fought. I guess I'm fighting because I'm being told to." He stated. Surprisingly, he didn't have a problem with anything he just said. It was still registering. Even more, the boy had simply crossed his arms and looked at the ground. No despair. Just wonder. "What am I fighting for?" He asked. Looking to Tomina.
Base [x+1/x+0], Enrage [x2], Mastered Power [x5], Super Elemi [x13], Attuned Super Elemi [x20], Unleashed Super Elemi [x32/x24], Mastered Super Elemi [x35], True Elemental [x45], False God [x56/x55] True God [x60]
Tomina thought that thumbs up was rather corney. She didn’t comment on it though. Little habits like that could be dealt with over time. The important thing was he was in a good mood. Besides, at least he wasn’t hitting on her. Which was a rarity when it came to talking to the other sex. Usually they checked her form out at the very least, but not this guy. Well, he was very young. He probably wasn’t interested in that stuff yet. Tomina leaned back, her eyes staying locked on the young Saiyans.
“Well that answer depends. if you’re talking about the Saiyan race as a whole, then you can say that you’re fighting for the sake of your leader and your Saiyan comrades. What you personally fight for is a different matter. It is a Saiyans main drive. The thing that keeps them going even in the darkest of times. You can amass all the power in the world and become the strongest person on the planet, but without a personal drive you will always lose to those who do have one. Saiyans fight at their best when they passionately fight for what’s the most important in. Do you have something that you personally believe is worth fighting for? You are young, so it’s possible you might not have found it yet.”
This was what Tomina wanted to know the most. His answer would determine how she approached things regarding Rensu. She wasn’t going to miss a word of what he had to say next. She had filtered every other sound and sensation around her. Right now, the young Saiyan before her was all that mattered.
"Huh. I guess...I guess you're right about that. If Im gonna stay motivated, I need something to do just that. But what..? Hm..ah. I guess I'll have to just go with something really common and basic: I guess I fight to survive. I fight to keep my heart beating and my blood pumping." Ren looked to Tomina. He had a sort of face. One that could be read as desiring some sort of approval. Which was strange, considering what he fought for was his and really couldn't be judged by anyone. "Im still growing up. I don't have anyone to fight for specifically. No girl, no sibling. Im fighting for me. For now and maybe ever." Rensu unfolded his arms and shoved his hands into his pockets.
He nodded, though. "What do you fight for, Tomina? Someone, somethin'?" He asked, genuinely curious with what this woman survived for.
