A pair of heels clacked against the floor. Holly walked into the office, the bottom of her blue robes fluttering with every step she took. The young Magi had just become the head of the Valiare family, and her first action was a fairly heavy task. She was to meet with the Queen to talk about vital matters. She had set this up in advance, so she had no worries about it actually happening. Still, it was a rather big thing to start out as the head of her family. Especially since both of her parents had recently died. But there was too much that had to be dealt with. She couldn’t just let her grief get the better of her. Holly walked up to the front desk, where a receptionist was typing away on a computer.
“Excuse me, but I have an appointment with the Queen. I should be listed in there. Holly Valiare.”
The receptionist made a few clicks and began to search the listings for her. Holly stood there and watched the receptionist at work. Honestly she didn’t know how people could put up with this kind of job. Granted some aspects of being the head of the Valiare family involved paperwork, talking with others, and other things that many people would consider boring. Although that came with the responsibility, power, and influence her family name had. Plus there was variety in the things that she did, even though many of them were rather dull affairs.
<She’s just sitting there, typing on that computer and answering calls day in and day out. It’s the same for her every day. Granted she’s the receptionist to the queen, which gives the job a little more importance. Still, I couldn’t handle doing the same thing over and over. That takes a type of fortitude that I don’t have. It’s admirable, in its own way.>
It didn’t too long for the receptionist to find Holly’s name on the list. She peered forward to get a closer look, adjusting her glasses as she looked into more of the details.
“Ah, miss Valiare. You’re right on the top of the list here. Queen Rinako is waiting for you. I’ll let you know that you’re coming. Oh!”
She had looked up from her computer screen and actually got a look at Holly. Her reaction was understandable. Holly’s attire was very distinctive, even for someone who likely saw fancier outfits from the Queen. Holly gave the receptionist a friendly nod.
“Excellent, I’ll see myself in then. Good day to you.”
Holly walked past the desk, and towards the area where the Queen would be waiting for her. She didn’t know what to expect from this individual, since she had been coronated recently. From what she had heard, she was a levelheaded individual. Holly hoped that it was true. It would make things easier that way.
