Galen plummeted to the ground of King Kai’s planet like a rock falling down from a cliff. He hit it so hard that the ground beneath him cracked and he grunted in pain. ”Ouch! Damn!” he muttered to himself as he struggled to try and get back to his feet by pushing his body up with his arms, but they were trembling like crazy. The human was tired from the long journey through the Snake Way and to be facing a gravity ten times superior to that of his home planet was something he wasn’t really accounting for.
Plenty of people were used to gravity training, but Galen wasn’t among them. To be completely honest, he never went as far as to use training weighted clothes or armor and all the power he gathered up until now, save from the small boost from the holy water, as all himself, without outside help. He was a farm boy after all and it was already a miracle he had managed to master the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School by himself and even that took him nearly two years of diligent practice. He was no genius, nor naturally talented. No, if he excelled in anything in his life that was hard work.
”Come on, body! I can’t be defeated by gravity alone! I will make a fool of myself to Master Kame and to King Kai!” he complained to himself as he gathered enough will power to lift himself up to the four limbs, panting heavily as he did so. ”That’s a start…” he thought to himself, grimacing a bit. ”But not enough… Not nearly enough!” and filled with a fiery determination, he placed one foot on the ground. His open palm became a clenched fist and he pushed himself up again, leaning his other arm on his tight. Then the other foot touched the ground and he was now in a sort of crouched position.
”Ugh!!! Come on!!” the human clenched both his fists and flared his light blue ki aura, unleashing all of his base form power. His body was trembling from the pressure he wasn’t used to but he was slowly making it and, within the next few seconds, he managed to stay up for a moment, but his body was shaking like green bamboo in the wind. ”I’m up! I’m up!” the grimacing man celebrated, only to, in the following second, fall back to the ground, this time on top of his butt.
”Argh! Dammit!” he cursed, feeling deeply frustrated. This journey to the otherworld was just one frustration after the other and for the first time in a very long time, the grown man felt like crying. His eyes became watered and he pouted like a child. ”That’s not fair… They say the saiyan planet has this gravity… How can the babies withstand it and I can’t?!” he asked himself.
It had already been a little bit of time since Cornatto had managed to make his way through the Snake Way. One of the longest rides Corn had ever taken with his own feet, he knew he could have probably beaten it a lot faster in his Super Saiyan Two form and perhaps flying too, who knew-- even gotten there instantly but he was pretty much fine with a little bit of fun. He thought that it didn’t matter since he was dead, he had a whole eternity to take the Snake Way on but he still did it in a pretty impressive time if it was truly supposed to be one million kilometers.
He didn’t know many humans that would be up to running that distance. It was all a matter of effort and all and Cornatto had gotten all excited even before he was taken to the Snake Way by the words of Queen Aka. Whoever Kaio-sama was, he was supposed to be a great deal and he couldn’t wait to finally get some training. The Snake Way was clear and quite easy for him to get to his destination. Although at first he couldn’t quite target the place, he noticed the little planet not too shortly after as his eyes wondered what that black dot in the sky could be and finally, he had arrived at destination.
As soon as he had arrived, though, he was not welcomed by Kaio-sama but straight out from a ghost of the past; a Z-Fighter, also known as Yamcha. He was pretty sure of himself and Cornatto sort of knew who he was supposed to be; Karota usually talked about him as the creator of the Wolf School. He was sure that he had to be a fantastic martial artist back in his days as he was quite strong when he had fought him, but he was admittedly also truly quite difficult to handle when he used that Kaioken skill. He guessed that it had something to do with Kaio-sama, since there was his name itself in the technique’s name.
He hadn’t ever seen that technique before, but it had seemed to be capable of powering your ki up by many times fold. Not to mention the fact that Yamcha himself was already quite a powerful opponent, he could even face a Super Saiyan Two without too much trouble-- the warriors of old were truly incredible! The only ‘olds’ he could have ever considered were people like Natto and Tomo since they were technically part of a different generation than the one that actually lived their days in the living world. But they were surely not that old to be considered as ancient as Yamcha was supposed to be. Then again, he didn’t look old, so he had been dead for a great deal of time.
Cornatto had just died but he had also lived for quite a little bit-- he didn’t consider himself to be old but he had been through some stuff! No one could say that Cornatto was old just by his looks, one really had to know him for his previous rank of a Major or ask him directly. For the rest, he looked just as strong and young as he did when he was twenty. He did get a little more mature, though, that was for sure. Years did still weigh on his shoulders, not as actual old age, but with his long, fierce history of combat and people he had met. Most of them had stuck with him for a while, some others disappeared and he hadn’t ever met them again. Sad? Maybe, but again, most people decided their own path and Corn took the one that led him with the Alliance and it was one of the best decisions he had ever made, in his opinion.
It was true, though, that perhaps what Karota had told him pierced through him back in the North. He didn’t really dwell on it too much, but honestly? He didn’t know if he had actually made a good choice to leave the Alliance out of nowhere without even staying around for a short while, maybe to check up on what would have happened from there on or help with the rebuilding efforts. Etorin? He could have probably destroyed him in no time with his Super Saiyan power, no matter how many hostages he took, Cornatto was confident in his powers and felt sorry for what he did. But, on the other hand, his daughter had become quite strong! He was quite proud of her and hoped that she could arrange herself now that he had died, but now what he was mostly centered on… were huge bowls of food! Thankfully Kaio-sama actually had food around here and plenty enough of it to fill his Saiyan stomach, it was pretty good, not like the clouds weren’t that good, but he sure preferred actual food!
He didn’t even eat normally; he shoved in his mouth as much as food as he could and gulped it down. Saiyan style! The rings of the bowls echoed in the room as he emptied one meal after another at the speed of light until nothing was left. He leaned back and patted his stomach, flashing a huge smile on his face. “Man… I needed this! Haha, I’m full!”
The man’s exclamation was followed by a small observation; he felt Galen’s aura closer and closer until he realized that he had finally arrived on the planet. Thus he got up from his seat and walked out of the little house as he looked around finally noticed his Earthling friend. The Earthling Saiyan chuckled a bit and walked up to him, he crouched and held a hand towards him.
“Yo, Galen! Haha, great to have you here, bud! Here, take my hand. I know it’s a little difficult at first here, but you’ll get used to it. I am sure you will!”
The struggle was real and Galen was already way too annoyed with it. He kept on pushing himself up, only to fall back to the ground seconds later. It wasn’t just about keeping the strength on your legs and back, but also the balance that was affected by a higher gravity and the tiredness from overcoming the exhausting Snake Way was catching up with him to the point he was feeling cornered. ”Damn… I think I will have to unleash my Last Resort power… Otherwise I will be lying down for a day or two!! That’s so embarrassing!” he thought to himself, feeling his cheeks blushing a bit, which made him sigh heavily.
At this point, he heard a very familiar voice and, struggling a bit more, he pushed himself up high enough so he could at least look at the person’s feet before raising his head to look at his face and, as he had already sensed, it was his Master, Cornatto. He offered Galen a hand and, even though he wished he could get up by himelf, at this point he knew better than to stick up to his pride and just grabbed Cornatto’s hand and helped getting himself back to his feet. His legs were still shaking, but at the very least he was up and now focusing on keeping his balance. The effort was making him sweat from just standing up.
”M-master Kame… T-this gravity is… Is a-absurd! I can b-barely keep myself up!” he said in a quite disappointed tone, but, oddly enough, it was getting a bit easier. Then, he took a very deep breath and stared back at Cornatto, right into his eyes. The human’s eyes were filled with sadness and frustration. ”I’m s-sorry you died… And t-that I wasn’t there to help you. B-but… Caesar… His power is just o-obscene…” he was still stuttering from the effort of keeping himself up, but he was adamant about speaking. ”And everybody left us there… Alone, to face that impossible obstacle… At this point I don’t even know if Master Jie is alive… I couldn’t help him in the end… I failed him… I did my best… I poured all my ki and soul into my attack, but… I doubt it helped…” and even though he stopped stuttering, his tone was shaky and his eyes were becoming watered as he remembered the pain and terror of that fight, above the Southern Islands.
”I wasn’t strong enough… I’m not worthy being called a protector of the world… I may not even be worthy coming to this place to train… What did I accomplish, Master? I feel like a failure…” he admitted even though it pained him like crazy.
"What did you accomplish?" A female voice suddenly sounded from King Kai's home. Atop the small round house was perched a female saiyan, sitting patiently as if she had been there the entire time... Which she hadn't been, the benefits of working for a Supreme Kai! She had seen this little Earthling arrive on King Kai's planet and found him quite amusing to watch. She'd never benefited from King Kai's training, but the gravity here was nothing that ever bothered her.
"I can tell you exactly what it is you accomplished. Your fight was pretty lopsided and unfair, but in the end you gave Jarvis exactly what he wanted, and while that sucks, he hasn't exactly destroyed Earth, now has he? So your sacrifice made sure the rest of the planet survived... well... part of it anyways." She stated as she leaped off the building effortlessly, landing in front of the door with a smile on her face, her eyes moving from Galen towards Cornatto. When they landed on the saiyan, they seemed to sadden a little bit to see him here. She and Corn didn't exactly... get along when they first met, but over time she had come to trust him as much as she trusted her own brother. Cornatto was one of them, no matter where he went after she had died.
"Cornatto, it's nice to see you again, though I kind of wish you'd waited a few more decades." She said kindly, her tail swaying freely behind her. Tomoroko still looked exactly the same as when she had died a decade ago, and that wasn't just because of her saiyan genetics. The halo over her head indicated that she was still quite dead.
Cornatto could see that Galen wasn’t having the easiest of time on Kaio-sama’s planet and he couldn’t blame him. The gravity was entirely something here, and Corn himself had some trouble with it at first, but he had quickly managed to master it completely during his spar with the ghost of the Z-Fighter, Yamcha.
He could tell that Galen had not undergone gravity training, just like Cornatto, it was pretty much a matter of how he imagined Galen training; he was way too traditional to use anything like a gravity device. But, there, it was where Cornatto decided to jump in and lend a hand to the Earthling. Galen was strong and probably the most reliable human around, but he was quite a tad weaker than most of the people he had encountered in his time in the North; it looked like a Super Saiyan bargain sale because of all the Saiyans who were apparently capable of reaching such form. He didn't remember if it used to be that natural back in his days, but there were a handful of Super Saiyans around; both on the Alliance and Empire side, so he guessed it was only natural.
“Hehe! I know how it feels. It’s quite something to take on in your base form, but I know you can pour out more power than this! But if you just give it some time, you’ll quickly not even notice the difference. Just try moving like this,” - he paused as he straightened his back and pulled Galen up and assisted him to stand up once more. The Earthling Saiyan’s carefree nature was shortly interrupted as he watched Galen fix his gaze at the Saiyan with a hint of sadness in the Earthling’s eyes. Cornatto knew that Galen would have gladly helped him if he hadn't been busy against that guy in the South, so Corn didn't take any offense, but rather he was happy that he had given it his all to protect the South City. It was commendable, that was for sure.
Cornatto quickly chuckled and retorted. The Earthling Saiyan wasn't one to blame others, nor did he care that Galen hadn't come to help them, he was more amused that other people had left those two there alone against Caesar without the slightest care, but he guessed they had their reasons or something like that. “Don’t worry about it! I should be sorry for having not been there. I hadn’t noticed that guy’s power until I had already rushed my way to the North after I came out of an incredible chamber with an old friend of mine. Time there works differently, so one day on Earth is a year there! Pretty crazy, huh?”
The man’s tone had brightened up at every word he said. He was apparently trying to lift up Galen’s mood, but it looked like it was having no result overall as Galen could barely stutter a word. Cornatto’s features softened as he folded his arms over his chest. It was apparent that the fight had left a deep scar within the human and he couldn’t blame him for it; the power he had sensed was tremendous, but Corn knew better than letting such things weigh on his shoulders.
“I dunno, Galen. Would you have rather stayed away-- doing something else and not care? You did your best, and that’s what matters! At times, no matter how impossible the goal might look like, you must still try!”
Cornatto smiled softly before it grew into his trademark smirk. “I am sure Kami-sama will be fine! He looked quite sharp and--”
The Earthling Saiyan felt several goosebumps over his back as he heard a piercing, female voice that he had heard before but Corn couldn’t quite put it together until he turned around and took note of the female Saiyan that sat on the small building. Cornatto’s smile grew wide as he listened to Tomoroko and couldn’t help but notice how she looked just the same before she died; it wasn’t like Tomo was that old anyway even if it weren’t for the fact that she was dead.
Cornatto chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. “Hahaha… yeah. Maybe just a decade wouldn’t have been so bad, but you know, if I didn’t do that, Karota would be probably right here instead of me. I wouldn’t have ever let her die like that! But it’s indeed nice to see you again, Tomo. How have you been doing? Is Natto here too?” - he asked eagerly to know whether his old friend would be anywhere in the whereabouts or not. But, his first guess was that he was probably somewhere around here, either there or nearby Kaio-sama's planet; he was sure that Natto would have immediately grasped the chance to train and get stronger without having any second thought. His benevolence and strength were traits that both warriors shared, and that was also why Corn respected him that much.
Cornatto didn't exactly remember his first interactions with Tomoroko very well; it was a little tense at first probably since he didn't remember them to be that smooth. He couldn't quite grasp most of what happened back in those days, but eventually, he remembered that the two got along and trusted each other just like any other member in the Alliance. Just like he trusted Natto, Totoma, and Karota. Karota, especially was one he had come to respect a lot more after their training in the Soy Training Halls, mostly because he had managed to get a taste of her power and had hoped to fight her some other day. The man's hope was close to turning into a reality before their duel was interrupted, but he guessed there wasn't going to be a fight between the two for a long time. At least until Karota would lose her life.
As usual, Cornatto was a few steps ahead of Galen in regarding to training and he was used to gravity training. On top of that, as he had read during his days on Korin’s Tower, even the saiyan’s planet had a greater gravity than Earth, so it was only natural this small planet wouldn’t be affecting him quite as much, still, the Turtle Hermit tried to give him some solace by saying he would get used to it in no time and he just nodded, though not as confident as he should be. Still, when Cornatto apologized for not being there to fight Jarvis, he shook his head, sighing deeply. ”You couldn’t know. And we had plenty of allies when the fighting started. Chris was there, and so was Flare. But they decided to leave Caesar and Shizen to the two of us and unfortunately we weren’t enough. I managed to defeat Shizen, I tried to protect her like I had promised Flare and when I thought she was safe, that monster sucked her body into his own, and stole her life away…” and as he said that, a couple of tears came down his face as true sadness and frustration took over his heart.
”I… I couldn’t save her…” and that thought haunted him, because not only Flare asked him that, but also Shizen. She was begging for help, and yet he failed her. But as they were speaking, another person appeared out of nowhere and Galen’s watered eyes glanced towards her. He didn’t know her, but just like them, she had a halo above her head, meaning she was dead. And because of her tail, he knew right on the spot that she was a saiyan and, apparently, she was speaking to Galen.
”Uhn?” he looked a bit clueless at first, but then she began speaking, saying his fight was unfair and lopsided and that he gave Jarvis exactly what he wanted. Those words hit him like a truck and Galen lowered his eyes, staring now at the grassy fields of the tiny planet. Tears kept rolling down his face and he was now sobbing. But when she said the planet survived, he suddenly stopped and stared back at her, gulping. ”E-earth survived?! Y-you mean Master Jie too, Miss?” he politely yet anxiously asked her.
Oddly enough she and Cornatto seemed to be long time acquaintances, but Galen was quite surprised and clueless now. ”J-just… Who are you ma’am?” he bluntly asked.
"Right, I forget that you're old as sin now!" Tomoroko teased the other saiyan, laughing out loud at the idea of Cornatto technically being older than her now.... well in terms of how long he'd been alive! It was amusing to say the lease, but her laugh died down whenever Cornatto asked about Natto, and she just shook her head no.
"Unfortunately that idiot won't ever be seen again most likely... it's a long story..." She said with a rather sad smile on her lips. It was clear that something had happened to Natto, but she wasn't really ready to divulge it just yet... while it felt like Natto had been wiped from existence by his own stupidity (at least in her mind) she knew there was the faint home that Rumia had managed to reincarnate him before his soul vanished. She just... hadn't been able to find him.
She then looked over towards the little human who addressed her as miss, and now feeling even older than she was. She didn't know the Earthling beyond what she had been able to witness of their fight on Earth.
"Earth is still there for the time being, but there's still a lot happening down there so it's all up in the air at the moment. As for Jie Shan, I'm really not sure, I haven't checked in on the action since you and Cornatto died. I'm sure Mayuri will let me know if he does though. That kids a special one. Oh! and sorry about that, my name is Tomoroko, or just Tomo. I'm the Guardian of the Eastern Supreme Kai Mayuri, who's currently down on Earth doing what they can." She introduced, leaving out the long and arduous backstory. She was sure it would come up in later discussion anyways, no need to freak the kid out right off the bat.
She then glanced back towards King Kai's house and raised an eyebrow. There were quite a few people on the planet for the Northern Kai not to of have heard them... so where was he? Well... if the Kai would be dilly dallying, she best make sure these two were in top shape when they got back to Earth.
"Right! Well, why don't we give your training a head start then? have you both limbered up for when King Kai gets here to put you both into shape. You're lucky honestly, I've never actually been able to train with him myself. I' m apparently just not funny enough~"
Despite Cornatto’s reassuring comments, it didn’t seem like Galen was willing to take them all but instead, he still felt he was always quite disappointed with what had happened; which, by all means, it was apparently normal, but Corn didn’t like to dwell too much on those things. Whatever had happened it couldn’t just get in the way of one’s future, but maybe it was just the Earthling Saiyan who was a little tad too carefree compared to Galen. Nonetheless, he meant it when he was sure that he would have mastered this level of gravity; it wasn’t way too tricky, Cornatto also was a little amused at it, but he had been on Planet Natto and Vegeta before. A level of gravity that low was completely normal to him-- maybe he just had a little trouble at first considering how long he had been on Earth, but it was no trouble for Corn any longer.
On the other hand, Earth didn’t possess such strong gravity, that was why Cornatto usually felt like a feather floating in the sky on the blue marble; and if one were to dare and go beyond a hundred times gravity, they’d probably feel even better. But there was no use if they had no power to use alongside speed, nor did reflexes come naturally with speed. Galen surely had the potential to become stronger than that and master whatever level of gravity he could have reached, he was sure about it.
Although at the moment, Galen was taken over by his grief and displayed his pure earthling emotions. They were strong, and Cornatto listened to him silently, both to let him let all of it out and also to grasp a better understanding of what had unfolded previously on Earth. As much as he quietly nodded while Galen spoke, he legit had no idea of who was most of the people he mentioned. Chris, Flare, and Shizen? Who were they? The Saiyan only knew about Caesar because he had heard about him and how he blew up both the Outpost and Natto, too. For the rest, he guessed they were supposed to be good guys since he hinted at them as allies, but then they left both Galen and Jie against someone stronger than what they could chew. The man frowned a little about that.
He couldn’t see sense in leaving two of them with someone that strong, perhaps things could have gone better if they didn’t leave them against Caesar. The man gritted his teeth at the sight of his friend spilling tears, maybe Cornatto hadn’t been there or witnessed the tragedy himself, but that alone was one more frustration. Just like it had happened to Natto, he couldn’t be there for South City, and now, Galen’s emotions had begun to reach the Turtle Hermit, too.
“He will pay for everything he has done. I swear he will,” - said the man with a slight hint of anger in his heart, but he couldn’t help but also remark a little about the last part of his speech; the whole ‘sucking bodies’ stuff. As a first, Cornatto thought it was pretty gross, what even was that supposed to mean? The Saiyan knew nothing about fusion, and there was no way he’d even know that such a thing was possible. But then such trail of thought was interrupted by the appearance of Tomoroko, who had thankfully managed to at least bend the subject ever so slightly and left Cornatto with a sense of joy for finally meeting one of his old friends once more.
The man smirked a little at Tomo's joke. He was aware of his age, but he didn’t think of himself as an old person! Saiyan genetics were pretty useful, although Tomoroko’s youth was a given mostly because of how long she had been dead for, not much for her genetics. But that would mean, that if she were to come back to life, she would still live longer than other Saiyans; her body would always be the one Tomo possessed when she died back on Vegeta. Then if you added her genetics to that, and she could technically live for a little while even if she were revived. Then again, as long as she was dead, she was technically immortal. Unless ghosts got old at a certain point? No idea.
“Haha, come on. I am not that old! We both still look young, you know!”
Cornatto’s mood didn’t exactly go down but it was indeed filled with a little seed of curiosity when Tomoroko’s seemed to sadden at the mention of Natto, and for some reason, her reply hinted that he wouldn’t be around here ‘ever again.' The first thing Corn could think of was that perhaps there was something more if you died again in the afterlife? Was there a second afterlife? He didn’t know, but it didn’t sound like something the two should have discussed at the moment; both for Tomoroko’s sake and Galen’s, who was already disappointed by his performance on Earth and he didn’t want to make the whole matter any worse.
"Huh... well, alright! I am happy to see that at least you are around, though."
However, the female Saiyan gave both of them the slightest hope that Earth and possibly Kami-sama were still alive, so that was one weight off their shoulder-- especially Galen’s. Cornatto had always believed that Earth would have managed to stay alive, so he hadn’t been way too worried about Earth itself but more in regards to his daughter Kabocha, other than that, though, he was glad to see Galen’s amusement at the news. He was sure at least that would have perhaps livened up his mood a bit.
The Earthling Saiyan looked at Tomo once more at the mention of a ‘Kaioshin,' evidently confused that there were more people with ‘Kaio’ in their names. “Kaioshin? Huh, who’s that? I might have seen him if they’re on Earth.”
The woman suddenly offered to give a ‘head start’ to their training and there, Cornatto immediately reacted as he flashed a warrior’s smirk towards her way. “If all your jokes are about my age, no wonder, but,” - he paused for a brief moment before he switched into his fighting stance. “I’m all for it! Let’s fight!”
Cornatto was indeed a bit disappointed that Natto wasn’t around as he wished to fight him the most, but he was also happy to see Tomo and excited to battle her! By what he remembered, she was also about as reliable as her deceased mate, and the Earthling Saiyan wanted to see on what level he stood against Tomoroko.
The two saiyans looked like they were quite close and that was both something good and bad: good because it was always nice to find old friends and catch up; bad because, well, if they were meeting in the afterlife it meant they both died prematurely, as they still looked rather young. However – and Galen touched his chin with a quite thoughtful expression taking over his feature – he did know saiyans took ages to grow old in appearance, so maybe they weren’t all that young, and from the looks of their conversation, they were possibly past their early years, which was quite intriguing. ”I wonder how old they actually are… I never asked… But again, most people think I’m still on my teenage years, while I’m already twenty five years old…” he thought to himself, shrugging at that.
On top of that, this Natto guy seemed to have vanished, maybe he had reincarnated or something, but they didn’t linger on that subject for long, and it wasn’t Galen’s place to ask them about it as he had absolutely nothing to do with their past. Tomoroko was kind enough to reply to his questions and said that while Earth was still in one piece, there was just too much going on there for the time being. She also wasn’t sure about Kami, but she would check it out whenever it was possible and he nodded. ”I appreciate the information, miss. If possible, tell me about his fate. He is my best friend.” he said with a concerned tone in his voice. Shortly after that she introduced herself but, at first, the name didn’t really ring a bell, but she did say she was the guardian of the supreme kai and that made him widen his eyes in surprise.
Due to his own etiquette and politeness, and despite the struggle of the gravity, he kneeled for Tomoroko due to her position. ”I’m pleased to be made your acquaintance, ma’am. I’m Galen, the Tower Keeper of Korin and I had the pleasure of meeting his holiness, the Eastern Kaioshin.” his tone was absolutely respectful and, without him noticing, he was already growing accustomed to the gravity on King Kai’s planet. What was odd was the fact that Cornatto didn’t know what a Kaioshin really was and Galen stared at him with a bewildered expression. ”Ohh… Master Kame, Kaioshins are the supreme gods of the universe, the Gods responsible for all creation. In a sense, we are all their children…” he tried to explain it in a simple way.
Again, being around saiyans was always something weird and, despite everything, they were already ready to jump into a fight so they could train and while Galen was still half-hearted about things, he was there to train after all. ”Hmm… I guess we should start, yes…” his tone was still a bit uncertain, but when Cornatto agreed to it, he just shrugged. Galen stood back up and stared at the two of them, sensing their power levels, and then he walked to Tomoroko’s side, so that they both cold challenge Cornatto.
”If we are to fight evenly, we will need to tag team on my Master…” he told Tomoroko, as he slid into the Turtle School stance, despite it still being a bit flawed for him not completing his training. ”And maybe we can learn a thing or two. I’m still lacking on my bare handed fighting!” he admitted.
"Hah! You're a decade older than me now Cornatto! Since I died at 37 that's how old I'll stay! Pretty sweet deal if you ask me! Hahaha you might not look it now but another 20 years and you'll start looking your age, just look at Miso! That old farts starting to wrinkle!" She lied, laughing out loudly at the thought of Miso wrinkling up into an old man. That man was too stubborn to let himself die!... again. See, too stubborn to even just stay dead! None of this age stuff mattered to the end, but it was rather refreshing to have a friend by her side that she could really joke around with. It had been a while since she had seen anyone from the alliance in the upper world, and it was nice to have a piece of 'home' here. Whenever Cornatto then asked about the Kaioshin Tomo raised an eyebrow but couldn't help but smirk. Before she could get into it though, Galen explained for her and then even bowed towards her. She looked at him in pure surprise as she hadn't expected that at all!
"Hey hey don't go doing things like that. Im a guardian not Mayuri himself. You don't have to bow like that to me Galen." She assured him as the human stood back up. When he then heard of her offer of training he then moved to stand to her side and to that she couldn't help but laugh lowly, her hand flying up to the back of her neck as she felt the need to explain why she would need to pair up with Galen for this.
"Oh uhm... yeah you might have to go a bit easy on me Cornatto... I fought Nasu a while back and ended up burning through all my power, so I'mn ot as strong as I was when I was alive. I can't even get into Super Saiyan 2 anymore let alone Super Saiyan 3." She admitted with a nervous chuckle, though when Galen braced himself for a fight, so did she.
"So it might be more of a workup for Galen than it is for you~"
The Earthling Saiyan chuckled a bit at Tomoroko’s statement that she had aimed towards Miso.
“Haha, yeah, I saw him before I died. I didn't notice the wrinkles but I believe you! I don't care about looks, though, as long as I don't lose my strength!"
That guy was much older than them; he was supposed to be Natto’s older brother or something like that. To be honest, Cornatto’s memory faulted when it came to details such as those as he didn’t give them too much importance, he was a man of action, and he could barely remember most of other people’s age.
He was pretty sure that the two Saiyans-- Tomoroko and Cornatto himself would pretty much be about the same age, if only she hadn’t lost her life prematurely together with her mate Natto. The latter one was indeed one of Cornatto’s old friends that he missed and hoped that he’d get to meet once more in the next life, but it seemed that he was no longer around here. Whether he had reincarnated, died again or whatever, he couldn’t know. Corn had no idea about how such things worked, it was only natural since he had been killed not too long ago, but he did know that extraordinary things were possible.
Earth’s Dragon Balls were a proof themselves; mystical orbs capable of granting wishes, he was never too much interested in them, but perhaps it would have been a good idea to collect them and revive the two Saiyans back in the days. But he guessed no one thought about it before.
Either way, the two Saiyans were quite ancient compared to Galen! The latter one didn’t look that old himself, but he was a grown man, but one of a pure heart that was hard to find anywhere else.
It was almost amusing! Cornatto had met some kind people before, but he hadn’t put too much hope into seeing someone such as Galen after all those years he had spent elsewhere off Earth, but Corn had to say, he didn’t quite mind it-- he was glad that Earth could count on a handful of warriors. Although the fact that Galen had died, he had fought and that was enough to Corn-- and probably to any other Saiyan. Most of them would have tagged him as anything but a coward-- anyone else would have likely just ran away given the situation.
The Earthling Saiyan himself didn’t know why those people apparently left both Galen and Kami-sama by themselves, but given the chaotic situation at the time and the fact that he had just gone from another dimension and arrived late at the party, he didn’t exactly have the full picture of the events.
Tomoroko seemed to know a lot more than Corn did and it did amuse him a little; how could she know what was going on the other side if she was dead? He guessed she had some trick that allowed her to see, or maybe it had to do with the fact that she was Guardian to a Kaioshin. Galen introduced them to Cornatto as the gods of creation and was apparently responsible for the creation of everything and everyone, but if that was so, why did so many planets blow up and they didn’t restore them? He couldn’t quite get it, but he guessed it wasn’t up to them. Otherwise, they’d have probably done it.
The Earthling Saiyan quirked an eyebrow. “Huh? So, that’s what a Kaioshin is-- Got it!”
Cornatto had never met a Kaioshin or any other godly being before, but he could more or less figure out that Kaio-sama himself was probably a God himself given the fact that he had the word ‘Kaio’ in his name and was apparently an important figure in the Afterlife. Speaking of which, what was he doing? It was weird that he hadn’t come out yet, he guessed he was probably doing some important stuff-- it wasn’t like the place would usually get too many guests around. There were one house and a car, which, he didn’t even know why Kaio-sama had one, but it wasn’t way too important. He’d probably try not to break it, at least.
Then, Galen did indeed agree to Cornatto in regards to the training session, although he wasn’t completely excited about it but he could understand him; he was probably still disappointed because of what he assumed to be his failures, but in the end, he had done more than other people actually did. However, Galen didn’t just stand there but rather moved next to Tomoroko, much to Cornatto’s amusement. By no means he minded, but Tomo alone was supposed to be a strong opponent or at least, until the female spoke and revealed her condition.
Cornatto quirked an eyebrow and stared at Tomoroko, somewhat in a displeasing manner as he had expected to fight a Super Saiyan Three but apparently it wasn’t even going to happen. He did notice her ki was smaller but had just shrugged it off as Tomoroko suppressing her energy. But, it seemed she had really got weaker than what she used to be after a fight with her son.
“Not even Super Saiyan Two? Ah, man. Here I hoped I was gonna fight a Super Saiyan Three-- I mean, it’s fine! I am sure if you both team up against me, you can somehow make up for it. Don’t worry about your lost strength, Tomo, Galen and I will help you recover it,” - he said, although his arms had dropped down a little at first, he quickly straightened his back and stood firmly on the ground. “I also lost some of my strength when I got too soft! You can definitely get even stronger than you were if you put some effort into it. For now then, given the situation, I will limit myself…” - he paused briefly and clenched both his hands, his elbows were bent at a ninety degree and placed his arms close to this sides. “...TO THIS!!”
[Super Saiyan Full Power [x16] | Power Level: 5.548.176]
Cornatto turned into a Super Saiyan and unleashed a golden aura before he switched to his fighting stance once more and smirked. “Come at me with your full power!”
Tomo seemed to dislike the formal behavior of Galen, but many people felt a bit uncomfortable with his way, but he didn’t mind at all; he just chuckled when she mentioned that she wasn’t the Kaioshin herself. Then she explained that even though she was supposed to be quite powerful in the past, she somehow lost part of her power and could no longer ascend to what they called super saiyan two. ”The one with lightning I believe.” he thought to himself in the privacy of his own mind: it was kind of tricky to keep up with all their transformations especially because most of them were blond and with golden auras.
”Let’s do our bests!” he replied to Tomoroko with a kind smile on his face. Cornatto on the other hand seemed a bit disappointed he wouldn’t get to fight against a Super Saiyan Three and Galen arched one of his eyebrows. ”And that must be the long haired brow less one…” he took a mental note to himself as Cornatto said that the two of them could probably pose a challenge, even though he would be limiting himself to his normal super saiyan form, which already had a freaking impressive power. Galen exhaled sharply as he saw the form and then closed his eyes for a moment.
”I won’t be holding back Master, and I apologize in advance for my behavior. This transformation messes with my emotions quite a lot.” he said, and then, by clenching both of his fists, he exploded in a bright fuchsia aura. His hair bristled and spiked, making his bandana fly away and fall to the grassy terrain of the tiny planet. His body, much akin to his aura, became fuchsia in color, and Galen’s normal gentle feature became that of pure anger.
[Super High Tension. PL: 3,948,140]
”Now I’m REALLY MAD!” he exclaimed with fury in his tone. Without waiting as much of a millisecond, Galen darted toward Cornatto with all of his available speed. His right fist was glowing with his ki energy gathering there in a very familiar way. ”Take that!! SUPER GOD FIST!!!” he roared as he aimed to throw the powerful haymaker to Cornatto’s face.
Galen started with all his power, without wasting any time and already using the powerful techniques of the Turtle Style. And while it could be an action deemed as reckless by some, he was pushing Cornatto and giving Tomoroko time to analyze his movements and try to see a breach in his defenses. Galen was acting like a sacrifice and even though he was furious due to his form, he was still true to who he really was: a gentle protector who wouldn’t blink before putting himself on the line of fire for others.
That was the intensity of his resolve, burning like fire.
"So I get the age jokes and you get the strength ones hunh? hardly seems fair." Tomoroko teased, pretending to be hurt by his words by bringing a hand up to her heart and seeming to reel back as if his words had actually struck her. It sucked to not be able to tap into her full potential anymore... she had gotten so used to the Super Saiyan 3 form that it barely took any effort at all anymore to use it. That was until she lost it along with most of her power... she had really overdone it, and as much as everyone would be quick to blame Nasu she certainly didn't. She didn't have to go down there and kick his teeth in, she chose too. She chose to push herself that far. A necessary sacrifice in her books in an attempt to steer her son down the right path.
It hadn't worked of course, but at least he wasn't making deals with Demon's anymore right?
"Right, well with you having kicked the bucket, maybe you can whip me back into shape? Training with the Supreme Kai's is... different. Not what I"m used too and I"m not advancing as fast as I would be with a Saiyan training partner. I look forward to you staying up here for a bit before they start dragging you back to the living realm." She stated, taking a step back and just as easily powering up into her full powered Super Saiyan form. It was no where near Cornatto's level, and she was surprised to feel that the little Earthling's power was even higher than hers. She was seriously falling behind if a pure blooded human was surpassing her!
She felt the sudden inspiration to push herself even further after seeing Galen transform, smirking from one ear to another as she faced off with him against Cornatto. It felt so weird... it had been a long time since she was at the bottom of the power chain...
"You got weaker? Damn Corn that's still impressive! Haha you've grown a lot since I last saw you!" With that Galen darted towards Cornatto without a second thought, and still laughing Tomoroko did the same. She pushed off of her spot with her utmost strength, launching herself towards Cornatto. She stayed by Galen's side as the two charged him, her own fist glowing a bright color as they approached.
"Atomic Strike!" She cried out simultaneously, pushing as much power as the young human did, aiming to take Corn out quickly.

“Hehe! Sorry, Tomo! I didn’t mean it. You’re not weak, though, you are still quite strong, the thing is-- you could be even stronger,” - said the man as he returned her act with a sharp smirk over his face. He still thought quite highly of Tomoroko nonetheless, she still possessed remarkable strength and the two still had a pretty nice friendship back in the days, so he had no reasons to actually make fun of her current power. He quirked an eyebrow a little at her offer but he quickly nodded his head and offered a wide smile.
“Sure thing! But do not expect me to go easy on you. I’ll make you anew, Tomoroko!”
The Earthling Saiyan smirked, he knew that he could probably help Tomo with her strength; she was still a Saiyan, and most of their races had a pretty good potential and were also quick to learn. Not to mention the fact that she had already tapped into power higher than her own so it should have been easy all things considered. But Tomo wasn’t going to be the only one he’d help, Galen too! The two had left their training a little because of certain circumstances, but he was looking forward to finishing his practice in the Turtle School. They were dead, so they had all the time they needed.
“The same goes for you, Galen! We’ll use our time here and get even stronger-- I will make sure to finish your training in the Turtle School. I know you use a sword, but I hope you haven’t been slacking off with your fists! You’ll need those,” - he told him.
Cornatto could also relate with the whole formal behavior thing; it wasn’t something that he had in his Saiyan blood; he was a lot more carefree and perhaps friendlier than Corn should have, but Corn sure knew when to be serious when he had to be. However, he had to say that being formal wasn’t a bad thing, it was just how some people were, although it was difficult to find formal Saiyans, he guessed that it was a more recurring thing in the Human race rather than the warrior race that was primarily made up of fighters. It was challenging to find anyone like Cornatto around, although he did recall seeing a few Super Saiyans on their side back on Earth, maybe he hadn’t just been too attentive at the moment to realize, though, he was pretty much focused over Karota and Miso.
The two had somehow managed to make him snap a little, although most of his interests in the couple had nothing to do with killing, he merely wished to fight them and pretty much stop them, he couldn’t arrange that because of how their duel was interrupted. A real shame. Cornatto would have certainly liked that as far as sparring Natto and his mate. He couldn’t know what had happened to Natto, but it seemed to be-- perhaps not too overly dangerous, but in a few words, he was no longer there, in the Afterlife.
The best scenario would have been that he had indeed revived and was out there, in the living world. But he doubted it. The Turtle Hermit would have sensed his power, probably, no matter how far or on what planet, not to mention the fact that he was pretty sure that Tomo would have followed him back to the living realm but she was still there, standing with the other two fighters. In a sense, he guessed that it might have been more complicated than what he had thought, but right, it wasn’t indeed the time to concern Tomoroko with that! Not to mention, Cornatto had his training to worry about, Corn was quite curious as to why Kaio-sama hadn’t even come to check up on them just yet. He guessed he was busy with something or whatever because it was indeed weird that he hadn’t come out as of yet, even after Cornatto had just turned into a Super Saiyan.
Undoubtedly, Cornatto’s power as a Super Saiyan was quite astonishing despite it being only the first form of the legendary warrior, but it was still nowhere enough in his opinion. To Cornatto, to become stronger was one of his desires and goal, perhaps it was a little bit too much like any other Saiyan, but you couldn’t certainly blame him for being what he was; a Saiyan, but still an Earthling with a kind heart. Similarly to Galen, he guessed, but the Human was a lot more like any other Human would be other than the fact that he was pure-hearted while Cornatto was still a Saiyan and leaned towards fighting which was quite a different motivation compared to Galen’s.
Not to mention the fact that the Super Saiyan form itself was a transformation that induced anger and tainted a Saiyan’s heart, no matter how pure it could be, although the fact that it wasn’t that bad. Cornatto could easily control himself once he mastered its full power, plus, the Super Saiyan Two transformation had revealed itself to be more challenging to learn but not impossible at all.
The Super Saiyan forms weren’t that different in appearance, either. The ascended stage of the Super Saiyan level was far more powerful than its previous transformation but it wasn’t all that various other than the hairstyle which was a tad different but not that much; it was golden and spiky, just far more spikier than the first level. The Super Saiyan Three was a form he had never experienced before but he had seen it before and it was a form that surpassed the Saiyan that already goes beyond the regular Super Saiyan, it was kind of complex, but in a few words; it was beyond any other transformation he had ever seen. Maybe other than the Super Saiyan Four which was also entirely different given that it made the Saiyan look a lot more like a Great Ape but in a humanoid form. Although it was also quite powerful but Cornatto had no idea as to how he could even achieve such form-- and no wonder he didn’t-- he didn’t even possess a tail.
The Super Saiyan Four required a tail overall to be achieved so that it could absorb the Blutz Waves and somehow trigger a transformation higher than the ordinary Oozaru and into a giant, golden monkey that would then turn into the Super Saiyan Four. A Saiyan that possessed the traits of a great ape but the body of a humanoid. None of these details were known to Cornatto, although, even if he did, it wasn’t like he could have also tried anyway.
He would have needed to wish for a tail with the Dragon Balls or something like that, but he wondered if the Super Saiyan Four indeed was the last achievement a Saiyan could hope for; he was sure that their limits were endless and that by no means they’d stop at such a transformation. Just like how none of the other Saiyan forms required a tail, there must have been a way to get around that requirement or perhaps achieve a greater power than the one of a monkey.
The Human soon apologized to the Turtle Hermit, something which he didn’t immediately understand until Galen transformed and much to Cornatto’s surprise, his form reminded him a lot of the Super Saiyan form itself aside from its purple aura. It was indeed quite similar, even the hairstyle resembled one of the Saiyan warriors shortly after they turned into a Super Saiyan, but it was indeed quite amusing.
Cornatto didn’t even think that humans were capable of achieving a transformation, or so Galen called it; he had to say, though, the ki was quite incredible. It wasn’t on par with the Saiyan’s, but it was remarkable. He was quite sure that Galen was the most reliable human on Earth, now, that far at least, the Turtle Hermit had met no one else that ever confirmed the opposite. At the least, Tomo couldn’t be blamed for her shock at the human’s power exceeding the Saiyan woman's he was indeed skilled and also had potential.
“Hah, now… Don’t you just look like a Super Saiyan now? Amazing! How do you call that transformation?” - he inquired curiously with a hint of interest in his eyes as he glanced at Galen. “Super Human? Or is that too obvious?”
The Earthling Saiyan shot a glance at Tomo as she complimented him and left the male with a wide smirk on his face, he was glad and proud of hearing those words! Tomo was weak now, but she used to be a lot stronger and hearing that from her was worth it.
“I still have a long way to go, too! I don’t plan on stopping here either. I will reach the Super Saiyan Three transformation!”
Galen then suddenly burst into a fit of anger that surprised Cornatto. It wasn’t evidently the human just overdoing it; the boy looked quite angry, and while he didn’t mean it, Cornatto wondered whether it was like the whole Super Saiyan thing where you were always mad at first, or it could be controlled. As far as he was concerned, Corn had never seen a Human to perform such a transformation, but it didn’t look like Galen was precisely the most relaxed at the moment.
On the other hand, the dark-haired man looked quite careless as usual with a faint smile over his Super Saiyan face as he watched Galen to dolt and charge towards the Saiyan. Cornatto’s brow furrowed and his expression tightened, he pressed his teeth together and prepared himself for what Galen was carrying along with him; the Super God Fist, one of the Turtle School’s moves.
Cornatto’s watchful eye glared at the Human as he got way too close in such a short time with hs newfound speed. However, it was no trouble for the Super Saiyan to read his movement and move away-- his frame leaned to the side as he plainly dodged it with a smile on his face. “Haha, it seems you have not forgotten our training at least-- good! But now,” - he paused his speech briefly as he sensed Tomoroko who had charged together with Galen and focused her energy in an attempt to connect a hit.
“In that case!” - exclaimed the man as he bent his back and pushed himself forth, beneath Galen’s arm as he brought his arm back and quickly imbued it with an energy he planned to strike back at Tomo’s technique with a fist of his own. “This is how you do it! SUPER GOD FIST! HAAAHH!!!” - Cornatto charged forth and aimed to clash powers with Tomoroko.
Stamina 5/5 > 3/5
Cornatto dodged Galen's [IN][OT-2] Super God Fist for PL 2.496.679 VS 1.974.070 = Corn wins. Cornatto used [IN][OT-2] Super God Fist and clashed with Tomoroko's Atomic Strike for PL 2.774.088 VS 1.738.200 = Corn wins, with 1.035.888 damage heading straight towards Tomoroko.
Before the battle actually started, Cornatto seemed really impressed about his new form and asked how he managed to do that and remarked it even looked similar to a Super Saiyan. Galen was still struggling to control this form and he knew it would be hard to fully explain how it worked but he could muster enough focus as to at least say the name he gave to the form. ”It’s called Super High Tension! And it makes me MAD!” he admitted with enough rage in his tone to back it up.
Galen wasn’t really hoping to be able to hit Cornatto with his Super God Fist, he knew just how skilled and fast his Master was and, on top of that all, Cornatto’s super saiyan form had more power than Galen and Tomoroko’s fully powered state combined and that was a bit frustrating, but the human was adamant about doing something about it, using all of his available resources and if that mean he would be the sacrificing pawn, so be it. That’s how he was in life, and he wouldn’t change that in death. His attack didn’t even graze Cornatto as the saiyan side stepped out of the way, making Galen miss it completely and struggle to stop his own trajectory and turn around.
His furious eyes saw Tomoroko come crashing in with another energy punch of her own only to be met by the perfected version of the Super God Fist, which clashed against Tomoroko’s own fist but prevailed, showing just how much power Cornatto had to spare. But instead of admiring it, Galen was focused on the fight and he knew one thing: it didn’t matter that Cornatto could overpower them individually and their strengths combined, he would have to go beyond even that if he dreamed on emerging the victor of this clash, because when you fight two people, you have to take into consideration what they can do and now Tomoroko was in front of him and Galen was behind him.
The human pushed both his hands forward with his palms wide open and jolts of electricity began to appear on it. ”Don’t turn your back on me! THUNDER SHOCK SURPRISE!” he roared as he fired the trapping technique, aiming to keep Cornatto at bay, stunned for at least a brief moment so that Tomoroko could hit him with all she had.
Should he succeed in trapping him, he would quickly talk to her. ”I can’t hold him for long! Finish him off!!” he would exclaim.
