Appearance: Bijou are humanoids much like humans in appearance. They can range from 5' to 6' on average but weigh a good deal more than humans (Almost twice as much comparing even body sizes on average). This would be due to the nature of their bodies being compounds of both organic matter and a crystalline structure they are born with. Not only does this lead to them being more dense for their size but they are also beautiful in their own right for the way this sometimes shows. Various types of Bijou show their gems in different ways. From it showing in their glistening hair to literal stones being embedded in a part of their body. Some might choose to conceal this under clothing but as a whole many would choose to flaunt it.
Also due to their making, these peoples have rather ambiguous looks in between male and female. Although they DO exist, the distinction is hard to make as they were not made to carry traditional mammalian sexual features. Instead sex is usually seen by how their crystals are formed as they grow. Females are usually more acute but cut and shiny while a males might be more obscenely big but less refined in detail.
Compared to their Elemi sisters and brothers, the Bijou are often seen as the bottom shelf of their batch of work. It isn't without reason; They simply don't look or act as developed socially as the ever so emotional Elemi. Their words are crunched and the crystalline structures of their bodies, while very pretty, almost seen more as an item. Highly expressed parts of the Bijou share little difference with that of actual jewels.
Hybrids do not have such pronounced or shiny architecture that the parent might but will tend to still experience the rigid impurity of their tongue. It's very hard to not be known as a Bijou unless one were to try hard to make it sound more of a lisp than a genetic deficiency.

"STRANGER THINGS THAN ROCKS"
What a marvelous discovery.
It was just recently that the cryogenic vessels that encapsulated us that we were also able to start logging our experiences in this database found aboard the ship. Everything was so foggy, so muddled in our heads. We could speak common tongue but knew not of eachother. None of the crew did. So it wasn't hard to imagine our surprise when we found other beings nestled in our ship. They too were submerged under this cryogenic effect, but they were just... tubes. Inside these large tubes housed a few dozen each of these large gems.
Once the things came out to thaw these strange beings warped from the stones before our eyes! Popping into existence from such a tiny space was so bizarre. First, we made sure to gather them and keep a close eye to see if they did much. They could speak our tongue as well, partially. Seems they have broken speech. No matter how much we try to force them into saying certain things the creatures are unable to phrase them. What might be weirder was their form. Soon these creatures seemed to shine very brightly, giving off these fractal patterns in their skin and hair like the crystals they popped out of. A few of the bodies we searched showed that the gemstones we found were actually still on their bodies.
We compared their makeup to that of other rare minerals found aboard and confirmed that they themselves are just that. Crystal beings! It became clear that there was an underlying reason why we many a people with these various forms of power all awakened on this station. We're all blind to that reason though. There weren't many logs prior to our awakening. Perhaps there was something further hidden away from us then.
Once we had more bearing on our situation out in deep space one of our leaders, Zenon, decided it best to start treating them as our own. They were free to go and set off like many of our own had once the times had hit that we found several hundred ships aboard what we now called... HOME. Bijou of the equivalent quantity set out for the stars like we did, but there simply isn't as many of them as us. They're scattered much like us, but they are so rare that it made no difference. One thing was for certain at least; These strange creatures were abused by their alien fosters.
Reports came in that some of the Bijou were held captive and used as 'resources'. They can infinitely grow their own mineral collection on their body much like how we can create the many array of elemental affinity we possess. We don't have the resources or ability to directly help those involved aside from small teams who volunteer. The council, now, has decided it not to be of priority. Which is a shame really.
I imagine they, the Bijou, would put out more if they were willing.

Unique Characteristics:
Life of a Stone - Bijou have a considerable lifespan. It depends on the structure of their inherited crystal.
[Lifespan of Bijou are determined by their make up of gem. Most live at least 200 years but only a few manage to get past 500.]
Crystalline Incubator - Bijou are tough creatures in both spirit and body. A special ability harnessed long ago by their ancestors, the Bijou can revert into a gemstone when their lives are threatened or in critical condition. Or when they feel the need to take up less space, they can preemptively crawl into their gem form.
[Once a thread, the Bijou can shift into their gemstone form. It can be done willingly but is forced if they take a killing blow. This negates that killing blow. While in this form, they are unable to act and are treated as an item. Able to be taken and fled with. When in use, they must be attacked again and take five times their base PL in damage to properly shatter their gemstone and kill them. Vaporization bypasses this entirely. HYBRIDS DO NOT HAVE THIS ABILITY!]
Natural Hardiness - While their bodies function fluidly like most squishies a Bijou's innards are incredibly hard. Resilient to even the harshest of conditions. Trained, Bijou can learn to harden themselves further when physical trauma occurs, greatly increasing their durability.
[Damage needed to one-shot kill is increased by +10%. Increased to 20% at level 2, 30% at level 3, and 40% at level 4.] [Hybrids half all these values.]
Fractal Beings - Bijou can regenerate entire portions of their body if left to their own devices. Being inside their Crystalline Incubator is usually where this can occur but even on the field they can achieve this feat. Limbs and other bits are usually cut to show a crystal underside; Bijou do not bleed, and can eventually grow their entire bodies so long as they at least have their gemstone intact.
[Immunity to Burn, Bleed and Poison Effects. Pretty much any DoT effect. HYBRIDS HAVE THIS ABILITY IN FULL!]
Transformation:
Mohs Hardness Scale - Bijou are unique in their progressive style of transformation. They don't grow, get blonde spiky hair, or become monstrous beings. No, they just get harder. All the time. {10k+}[x1-x44 PERM (For every 10k Base power level, add 1 to the multiplier. 20,000 have x2, 30,000 have x3, on and on till they reach 440k where they receive a x44 multiplier and stop getting any harder).] (For hybrids, every step comes the 10k earlier like other races and stops at 420k with a x43 multiplier.)
