It was the grand day of the 520th World Martial Arts Tournament, and Cytos took his time to soar out towards where the event took place, The Martial Arts Temple. After achieving his semi perfect form, He always felt like he was missing something, a foundation of some sort. Up till now he was defeating most if not all of his rivals with brute force and his genetic advantages. Due to this he always had a nagging feeling, if learning martial arts would ever further his fighting prowess, or martial arts was simply a waste of time. Him coming to the event was in a way to test that theory, and to see some of the strongest fighters that universe had to offer.
Once one of his claws struck the stone floor of the temple, Cytos felt as if he stuck out like a sore thumb, and why wouldn't he? The temple mostly consisted of humans, as the negative stigma of alien species never sat right with Earthlings for the past few years. Despite the stares beginning to crawl over the mutt's carapace, he began to puff out his chest, as he began to bulk up to combat tension that was building inside him. Afterwards, he then began to strut towards the nearest registration booth. Once he reached his destination he began to speak down to one of the monks with his deep and coarse voice which quite suited his newly found stature,
"I would like to prove my worth."
The monk began to look up at the tall beetle like man, as if he was unimpressed at the amount of ki that was uncontrollably oozing out of his body.
"Sorry, you're a bit too late the sign ups are full."
"What how!?" the insectoid exasperated, as his puffed out chest quickly began to concave.
"You're a bit late on the gun kid. Besides in comparison to the other participants, you wouldn't even be able to pass the punching machine."
"What!?" The look of surprise that was painted on Cyto's face quickly turned into a face of anger while he began to clench his fist with animosity.
He knew that if he attacked one of the monks in the open would probably not prove well for him, so he began to make an about face, as he immediately stormed off in the opposite direction.
'Damn I guess I was a bit too late... Maybe If I can't participate in the tournament I can at least observe and if there was anyone worth learning from..' Cytos thought to himself, as he found himself standing still in the middle of one the various walkways inside the temple. He then began to point his head towards the entrance of the stadium, as suddenly began to march over to grab a seat.
Once he was able to find himself a seat, he began to wait about an hour for tournament to finally begin. The first round was Cygnus versus Kyokan he was quite unfamiliar by both the Kold Demons and the Gerodowrs were capable of, so the Cytos found this as an opportunity to study on other races and to size up their strengths and weaknesses.
The first round of the World Martial Arts Tournament was extremely exciting and set the tone for what this tournament would be. It was probably one of the most balanced tournaments in a very long time and without the crazy stuff such as an Great Ape firing an attack from space. But by no means it made it boring. The first fight was intense, but even though the Kold Demon seemed to be the more skilled fighter in technique alone, the Gerodowr managed to beat him into submission with some crazy techniques most people couldn't even figure out, which resulted in the Kold Demon being sent out of the ring and thus defeated. Kyokan was the victor of the first round.
The Kold Demon was far from happy from the result of the match and he left the arena without looking back to the crowd he greeted so happily upon entering. It was humiliating to be defeated like that and the worse part of it was that he didn't understand how he lost. He seemed to have full control of the clashes until the creature managed to injury him hard in a way he couldn't see or react. It was almost as if he was cheating, but he had no proof and therefore there was nothing to be done.
Irritated, he decided not to bother with the rest of this stupid tournament and just took flight, flying above the crowd and landing on the streets of Papaya Island. He needed to vent for a bit before deciding what else was there for him to do on this planet. "This stupid tournament was supposed to be a breeze! Where did those guys come from? Grrr!" he growled in frustration as he ranted to himself.
The fight in the first round came off as pretty intense, however it didn't exactly seem like the Kold demon knew what exactly was going on. "I guess this Cygnus may have never fought a Gerodowr before." Cytos thought to himself, as he could tell when the Cygnus' opponent began to stop and start time at will. "I suppose the Yardrat DNA does come in handy for situations like these." After several more clashes, it came down to a ring out, before he noticed the kold demon suddenly leave the stage in anger.
"Huh didn't take him, as a sore loser. Although his techniques were pretty interesting albeit it involved too many circus antics for my taste. I should at least see if I could get him to teach me to manipulate my ki to that extent.." He suddenly began to stand himself up right before taking his leave outside of the stadium as well. He began to trace the Cygnus' Ki heading towards the Papaya Island streets just before he took off and began to tail him. Once the blue insect landed himself on the street side before beckoning towards the frustrated Kold Demon.
"Hey! You there! Your name is Cygnus right?" He asked, as he began to approach. "It was a good fight, you had him on the ropes until he sucker punched you." He teased, as he began to gestured with a feinted uppercut. "You probably would have won, if you knew exactly what you were fighting up against, or am I wrong?" Cytos merely assumed Cygnus never actually fought a Gerodowr due to his embarrassing loss, but the insect gave the proud Kold Demon an out just in case he was wrong about his assumption.
His plan to gain the prize money to buy the Mothership had been ruined and this whole adventure accounted to nothing so far, so to say he was salty was a hell of an understatement. He was so immersed on his own rant that he failed to sense the approach of the creature, only noticing him when he talked to him by name. Cygnus quickly turned around and saw this weird looking creature that resembled a beetle with four arms and a power level that was higher than the average alien. He would put Lemo to shame before the training he underwent with Cygnus during this one year since they decided on their goal. "That's my name, yes." he answered in a quite wary tone. The Kold Demon folded his arms in front of his chest, but his body wasn't relaxed at all; it was all tense and ready for battle, even though deep inside he was concerned. If he was to fight this creature, despite its low energy, it would be difficult as he was still feeling the injuries from his battle with Kyokan.
This creature was watching his fight and was even saying it was good. "You are too kind." he said and then the creature said he would've won if he knew what he was up against and the bitter truth of that statement was irritating. He gritted his teeth for a moment before taking a deep breathe in order to calm himself down and try and keep a more serene expression on his face; regardless, his crimson eyes were now locked staring at the creature. If he wanted Cygnus' attention, then mission accomplished. "It is true I don't really know how I was defeated by that person. He didn't seem capable of much, but he would severely injury me out of the blue. So, yes, I'm still trying to figure it out. But the way you said that..." he narrowed his eyes. "Implies you know something I don't. Am I right to assume, Mister..." and he ended his sentence in a way that made it clear he wanted the creature to complete it by introducing himself.
"Ah! Now I see I've got your attention!" The android replied with a sly smirk, he knew he had the Cygnus' interest and he was planning to. "Although in exchange for this little snippet of information. I do request you would do me a favor as well." Cytos knew he was acting for a bit much, but he knew this was all apart of bargaining. "But first, let us find somewhere a bit more secluded, spoiling all of our.. I mean my secrets in public probably wouldn't do either of us any good, would it?" He suggested, as he leaned a bit over the Kold Demon, almost as if he was asserting his presence over the small creature.
Cygnus arched one of his protrude brows at the request for payment for the information shared and oddly enough that made the Kold Demon like the Bio-Android a bit more as it meant he had a business mindset that was much valued at the Planet Trade Organization. "Ohohohoho!" and his first reaction was to laugh, but while it might seem like he was inclined to disagree with his request, it was quite the opposite and Cygnus made sure to let him know that with haste. "I like your way of thinking. You are a business man!" he added, cracking a large smirk on his face. "Alright, what do you have in mind for payment? I'm inclined to take into consideration, but this is by no means a promissory note! Ohohoho!" he added, being cautious as ever.
The Bio-Android then suggested they go to a more secluded place and he agreed by started to levitate. "Well, just show me the way." he simply said as he got ready to follow him to wherever he decided to go. He was wondering what it was that he wanted from him, and was also wondering if he would be willing to pay him or not. So many things left open to be decided, but if anything, he liked the little mystery, especially when he knew that he could definitely be in full control of the situation, should things threaten to go sour. In any case, he wouldn't waste much time.
Cytos gave the blue demon a crooked smile, "Yes, Yes I will it's not too far so don't worry about the the long walk home." He said in a sarcastic fashion, as he took off in the air, and made a b-line to the closest barren region in the area. It didn't take too long since they were on a series of isles, so the insect just picked the largest piece of land he could find, and lowered himself onto the small patches of grass beneath him.
"So I guess it's best to tell you what I wan't before I tell you what you want to hear." He said, as he began to pivot towards the small creature. "The way that energy flows from your hands... how do you do it? I am absolutely interested in finding out." He asked, as he gestured his hand upward trying to simulate a blade. "Being able to use my body, as a weapon that can cut through anything would be extremely useful for my... future ambitions." He let out a sly chuckle between his lips, "If you can tell me that much I can tell you the secret behind that Gerodowr you were fighting earlier.. Maybe give him what for before he leaves this planet, what do you say?"
After a short flight, both of them landed in a deserted island near Papaya Island and at this point Cygnus was wondering if maybe this person was a hitman sent to end his life or maybe someone that came to collect the favour from the Vampire ruler of Planet Bris or whatever it was called now; rulers had this boner for changing the names of Planets to stupid things after conquest. "It's so much easier just to add a number..." he shrugged, thinking the old ways of the Planet Trade Organization were much better overall. Luckily, the insect-looking creature cut the chase and came forward the moment they landed there, and to Cygnus' surprise, the thing he wanted was to learn how to fight and, in exchange, he would be able to explain to him what was it that defeated him in that fight. Well, his curiosity was taking the best of him and if all the creature was requesting was some fighting tips, he would gladly do so despite the fact that he never saw himself as a professional warrior or a good teacher in that sense.
"Ohohohoho... So that's what you want? Very well... The style you saw is the trademark of the Planet Trade Organization. Have you ever heard of it? I'm a former member of it. A surviving member. Usually I don't share this type of thing so... You are quite the lucky one. But let me ask you one thing..." he paused, cracking a smirk as he raise his index finger. "Why do you want to learn that style of all things? Are you, perhaps, interested in the cause? Ohoho!" he asked as he raised one of his brows in curiosity. Although this creature didn't display that much power at first, he of all things should know that suppressing one's self was quite the common trait. Moreover, he had never seen something similar to this creature and if he truly had the knowledge of how his opponent fought, he might be worthy of his time after all.
He was interested in this creature, and if he showed to be a potential ally, his plans would further come into fruition.
