Personality

An aspiring author, Ari is a very curious person by default, having lived her entire life through nothing but books. She is thirsty for knowledge and information, even to the point of sticking her nose into places she really shouldn’t. She’s highly intelligent and tends to plan and research her opponents and their ways of fighting before making her move. Ari has rather questionable self esteem, she holds herself to high standards and often becomes angry and upset with herself when she can’t achieve it right away. She often sees herself as worthless or useless and doesn’t speak very highly of herself. She often wishes she wasn’t so shy or socially clueless and could speak up more and stand up for herself.

While friendly and polite, Ari is notably shy and awkward, having little to no social skills often making her come off as weird or unaware. Like her father, Ari is kind by default, she’s an innocent and sweet young lass who cares for the people around her, especially close friends and family. Ari is also a pushover; while not afraid of people who are bigger and scarier than her, she doesn't want to seem as a burden among the people around her and does whatever it takes to make them happy. Once Ari gets to know people she becomes much more open and enthusiastic around them, very openly talking to them and even acting silly or playful. She’s actually a very humorous person underneath and even enjoys bad jokes or pranks on close friends.

Backstory

Ari grew up not knowing much of her mother Darli, as she had died during Ari’s birth, but she knew that she hasn’t always been a good person. Darli had been a demon who abandoned her old home, escaping to earth after one too many failures, not wanting to bear the shame of having to deal with her past mistakes. But she was still a demon at the end of the day, and was ever so arrogant and rude towards who shared their distaste for her right back.

Expecting to live the rest of her life on the streets, cold and miserable, the demon was speechless when a young librarian often her shetler at his own house for a few nights. Amazed and confused at this man’s actions, she accepted, really having no other choice. Darli couldn’t help but fall in love with the human, his kindness and willingness something she’d never seen before and grew to love and cherish. Together they had a child, and while knowing the little one would face hardships just they had, it didn’t matter, they didn’t care.

Ari was raised by her single father, Shinichi Hayashi and was homeschooled by him for most of her life. She’d help around the old librarian he owned, most of which were filled with old books and tomes from his family tree of magic users, passed down from his father to himself. Her father taught her all he knew about magic, and the to often trained. For a while Ari was comfortable with his lifestyle, buas she got older she become very lonely and bored, very easily. She yearned for freedom, and wished to see what the outside world had to offer compared to what she could read in books.

With enough pleading as Ari eventually came of age, Hayashi eventually agreed to let her explore the world for herself, setting his worries aside and just hoping that Ari would be safe. But if she was anything like her mother, she’d be strong enough to handle it.
