Saibamen

Home Planet: Saiberia
Home Planet: Saiberia
Starting Planet: Free Space
Starting Power: 2400 PL
Appearance: A small people standing only roughly three to four feet in height. Occasionally in strange variants showing odd heights but this is a unusually mutation and occurrence. Some are born with various colors or differences in their appearances. Sometimes these differences a sign of superior genetics or even perhaps a sign of being born from superior soil. In most cases they they most if not all have sharp claws upon both their feet and hands. As well as hardened natural armor like skin on their chests pelvic areas as well as upon their hands and feet. Their heads are also rather veiny possibly do to the acid pockets their heads hold for defense purposes. They've also evolved to a point of having male and female variants but they don't breed in the same way as other species. The only way some have found to distinguish the difference who aren't a fellow saiba is simply a more think or sleeker build.
Many of them in their current early formed society do wear clothing but to what extent can vary from Saibamen to Saibamen. Thanks to evolution and adaption with use of various tools over time they've learned to create said clothes and other accessories to help give themselves more forms of individuality given many of them share such similar physical features naturally. Although its speculated this is more for the aid of other races they interact with as they seem to have no trouble distinguishing their own from each other as individuals.
Background: Once a creature used for labor and disposable military force, Saibamen have since evolved if not flourished into a simple people on one of their home worlds. A for a long time forgotten planet where the original saiba seeds were found and later cultivated as well as experimented upon. An while now they became irritated if not volatile when their savage slavery ridden pasts are brought up. Its perhaps partially thanks to these times they have now evolved in a way that has brought them into their own civilization. Albeit not as advanced as other planets or people they still have found a way to thrive in their own right.
Through evolution over many years they have become able to breed in a sense similar to other plants. Allowing them in their own way to pass on better genetics or mutations down to their offspring. Allowing them to become stronger and grow as a people and not just as the individual alone. Over the years their IQ(albeit still somewhat limited) has grown vastly. Upon their planet they have learned to use and craft tools, create their own clothes as well as other accessories, Even construct in many ways rather nice structures to live in resembling towns or in a few special cases small cities. Albeit most of these are stone structures their only metal creations often times being their weapons or worn armor. Appearing things most high tech societies or races may view as barbaric but for them huge leaps in growth and a sign they have grown from what they once were. They even have established their own form of writing that accompanies their special language. Some forms of music and art have sprung up over the years but vary from settlement to settlement or tribe to tribe.
However even in their growth what little hierarchy they have or lines of leadership and structure seems fractured at best from settlement to settlement. In their current state they often war with each other as well. Each settlement having its own form of leadership or way of doing things in their slightly primitive but growing ideas of law and governing rules. They at times as stated war or battle other tribes or settlements over resources, land rights, or at times greed as well for some of the rare materials they use as currency upon the planet. Green jewels similar to emeralds that can be found in select rare mines scattered sparsely upon the planet.
While only a small few have a understanding of space flight the peak of such knowledge seems to stop and repairing and altering such vessels with little sign of being able to build their own. This only being in the most well off of settlements or small cities. The majority of them only have a small understanding on how to use these ships. What few the more wealthy settlements have as well being scavenged vessels or ones traded from merchants or other visitors to their planets. Trade being something usually welcomed as long as they don't feel they are being insulted or demeaned in the process.
Culture:
Gender: Their race having developed both a male and female variant through evolution (even if others not of their own race have a hard time telling which from which) have become more easily able to pass on their genetics and keep growth like other races reoccurring as their familial lines grow. Most not keeping track but a few bloodlines of appearing to hold status in their own settlements do occasionally spring up. Such as similar to royalty in other races pasts. They don't seem to show a difference in status though on gender. Seeming to be equal in all regards as far as such things go. No ones truly sure when they developed gender. An how they breed is strange as well. They don't require a mate per say. As they don't engage in sex in any normal fashion. They can either pass on their genes to the plants their people are born from or commingle when planting seeds allowing them to combine genetics to make more advanced offspring.
Written Word, Art, Music: Over time they have created their own language that corresponded with their language. A set of mixed letters from various other languages as well as small pictures that make a written word that seems to thrive throughout their lives and planet. The language to other races as been remarked to appear rather barbaric and primitive. The mixed symbols and letters from other languages that once controlled their own people as well as mixed in pictures makes it hard to translate without saibamen aid. They have even developed art of their own styles from painting pictures, sculpting statues, as well as even body paint for various intentions. Their music as well while tribal often in nature is constantly expanding same as their art. Often when something new is brought into one settlements culture such as a instrument brought from other worlds. It quickly spreads and finds a place among the people in one form or another. This has allowed them to form a stronger culture all their own. As well as have the tools to record it and pass it down throughout the generations.
Various other changes: While they have grown much to what they once were many generations ago. Their law and actual society leaves much left to grow. Their settlements often having their own laws, rules, as well as alterations to their various forms of culture. As of yet they don't often come together in any sense of permanence. Merely to trade and work together for occasional common interests. But for now each tribe, village, settlement, or in rare cases cities can carry its own surprises unlike the last.
Name Theme(s): Saibamen have evolved to a point they each have their own individual names. However more often then not their names are difficult to pronounce in any other tongue.
So they often have a second name along with their true name. One they use among their own kind, An one they use when dealing with other beings not of their own kind.
These second names usually having some form of Sai or Saiba in the name itself. But this is not always the case in rare occasions.
Unique Characteristics:
(Flavor)Life Span: With enough time to thrive and survive they have been able to get a feel for their peoples natural duration and longevity. Saibamen living upwards to thirty or at times forty years. Reaching adulthood roughly at the age of three. The oldest recorded saibamen surviving to be forty seven. Before he later fell into one of the local bogs and drowned. So the possibilities of later life are possible but unlikely to exceed that amount by much. Once a saibamen hits the age of roughly thirty eight to forty. They often feel a rapid decline in their bodies as old age sets in. Physically looking roughly the same but their power, vigor, and health begin to fade quickly. While the change can set in at different ages for some and take different amounts of time to take its full tole. Most choose to take either on forms of elder roles in their village to pass on wisdom or take to the wilds and battle to seek a distinguished end in their final days.
(Adult hood roughly at three years of age, Living up to forty years in most cases)
(Flavor)Iron Gut: Saibamen even in their most barbaric past have always had a high tolerance to most any substance when it comes to what they eat. Whether it be fresh, rotten, meat, or in some cases metal. They seem to show the ability to devour and digest 'almost' any substance. Although just cause this is the case doesn't mean they don't like actual food. (Even if Saiba cuisine is often times highly unappealing to other races)
(Can eat damn near anything)
(Flavor)Saiba Speech: Though they have long since mastered the common tongue of to allow them to communicate with merchants and travelers from other systems. They still in their own homes and settlements us their own tongue.
The saiba language evolving to the point as well where it has taken on its own written word as well. The language appearing written in a form of mixing letters and small pictures. Trying to understand the language proving highly difficult for anyone other then their own kind.
(Their own language and written word) - Other races can learn the Saibamen language but it requires a PT-1 Saiba Language
Acid Pocket: One thing they have always had for natural defense aside from claws and natural body armor. Is their storage of acid pockets in their heads that their bodies produce naturally. By opening a split that forms in their heads they can spray and shoot out these pockets of acid that have been noted to melt through even some of the most toughest of metals.
(Mechanically Once Per Level Saibamen gain a special attack using their acid pockets, If it were to hit the target it would be as being hit with 33% of the saiba's power level. An would continue to the next turn as a free 33% of continuous damage as the acid burns away for a short time icly. Each Acid Attack costs 1 stamina to use.)
War Mounts: When a saibamen reaches adulthood. A right of passage in their culture has become to seek out and time one of the many wild beasts upon their planet. From large wild boars to wolves at times nearly three times their own size. Saibamen seek out a mount to grow along side them if they are successful. The bound between master and mount a sacred thing to them. Some believing both they are their companions to be linked even to the soul. In their society no matter what the settlement a strong mount often signifies a high status of power as a warrior. A stronger connection and control with the creature extending this respect even further.
(Each Saibamen gains one 25% Ally that classifies as their mount, The creature have the same moves/skill/Stamina/as their master and 5% Melee - If killed the mount can be revived (Or replaced so long as its another mount) via a 2,500 Zeni cost.)
(Can eat damn near anything)

Transformations:
Saiba Pride/Rage: By reaching inside themselves when their anger is tested and the battles are fierce. they can pull out a strong burst of inner power. Strengthening themselves in their anger and warrior rage. This manifests in many ways such as some gaining bright auras, Some increasing in muscular size briefly, As well as many other unknown variants. The evolution and genetic strains of each saibamen at times producing various truly unique results.
[free x4]
Environmental Evolution: Through time, training, and just living their lives. Saibamen eventually at times begin going through various changes. Some of them simply become stronger or learn new ways to master their own powers. While others may go through actual physical changes ranging anywhere from shedding their old skin and gaining almost entirely new bodies or even just minor changes as they grow and evolve to their surroundings and for better survival. {70k+} [x10]
Snap Evolution: The Saibamen's body has now begin to take on a more direct change if its mutating. The bodies begin taking on a form all their own possibly. As well as learning to access the ability to push themselves into a powered state involving these new changing like their rage. Their bodies are beginning to mutate and change. Some apparently take on much more noticeable like traits or possibly relating to the animals and or environment. Some as well merely accessing their powers to become rage like creatures or smaller even. The variety truly to vast to describe. {150k+} [x15]
Metamorphosis (Permanent): All Saibamen at one point in their life if they continually grow in power that eventually it is heavily likely they will have to one day fully shed their skin. While others might change in other ways the normal way is to shed their flesh like a caterpillar sheds its cocoon. Allowing a new form to emerge at times looking vastly different then the original being looked in appearance. Their power as well likely heavily risen compared to what it once was. {220k+} [x25] Permanent
Mastered Evolution (Permanent): The saibamen has clearly gotten comfortable with their new power, allowing them to tap into an even greater power for more troublesome foes. Some of them taking this differently from individual to individual. But a fearsome form to be true no matter how it manifests. [320k+] [x30] Permanent
Chosen Warriors - The evolving process has not ended. These forms thought reaching such a rare emergence of body on top of their empowered evolution. Some of their own kind believe these to be chosen ones touched by their gods. Or those destined for a greater life and journey. {400k+} [x42]
Chosen Deity - Elite, Its a form rare and few if any have ever actually seen one. Some say its a legend among fellow saibamen, Others from other races see it as a joke. But there is a legend of some Saibamen evolve to such a power atop their evolution. These beings myth or perhaps legend. But the story of them to the saiba's is considered like those to be like those god touched. They often believe should they ever see one it would be a sign the mother light had given its power to these beings. {+460k+} [x47]
