The sun had been beating down on the hot Sadal outskirts today, but luckily the tall Deluvian who'd traveled here had managed to find shelter before anything else. Old, worn buildings that had lost to large the amounts of green and grime towered over him, the coverage he'd been searching for, but longer then he wanted to admit. Thought, Lykaia found this entire place interesting. It almost seemed whoever once lived here had abandoned it for whatever reason and know, I'd been nothing more than a ghost town, nothing but silence feeling the empty streets.
Though Lykaia could enjoy quiet in most cases, but sadly this wasn't it.
The young man could only blink as he flipped another page, he'd been doing this for hours, just sitting here among the old ruins reading, well, a book of all things. But there was no fun to this learning experience. As It has been obvious enough for everyone who spied him, Lykaia was no Saiyan, not with the long tail and pointed animal ears at least. He'd do come from another planet which in some cases wasn't a big issue. Sadly for Lykaia, it was a huge one.
Lykaia didn't speak the universal language, at all, least nor first. It took his much more time then his advanced sister to even get him familiar with it, and even know he'd speak butchered, terrible attempts at speaking. It was embarrassing really, so embarrassing when his sister had dropped him at Sadal she threw the bloody dictionary at him before driving off, not that or helped. He knew she meant well, but Noma was completely and utterly unaware of the people's needs sometimes.
So now he sat, crossed legged on a fallen pillar with his gear tossed to the floor, and spear firmly strapped across his back. He had never used such a weapon outside of training or hunting, and he hoped he’d never have to. Despite his tall build the wolfman had never been a fighter, and he didn’t really see a reason. He was a natural born pacifist.
He’d lick his finger back as he flipped another page, absorbing the information before him, even if it was a hard to pick up. Trying to learn his universal common was hard and stupid, certain words were spelt in in different way, others words sounded the same but where written differently, and for some godesknow reason the word “grey” was spelt like four different ways he could count. It was complex, per say, least to him, but he wasn’t giving up, not yet, he’d come so far.
Besides, it was nice and quiet here, Lykaia didn’t expect anyone else to be here and, well that was for the best. There was no one to make fun of Lykaia for his poor words, and in a way, that was almost comforting, Well, at least he swore there was no one else out here. Why the hell would there even be? What did such a place even have to offer. “Quieter time… Good, sometime.” Lykaia said to himself softly, resting against the other pillar near him.
It was not often that Omata would come out here to hunt; usually, it was more profitable to hunt the larger monsters that prowled the Outlands - far more meat, and the butchers usually paid well for more dangerous catches. Not to mention, with her long-ranged tactics, the open space of the Outlands usually better fit her style of hunting. Though today was a particularly hot day, and the Outlands did not provide not much cover; particularly when it was towards noon. As far as money went, Omata liked to think she was doing well enough, certainly well enough that she didn't see the point in risking a sunstroke - and so, she would be hunting out in the Ruins instead. Though it wasn't any cooler out here, the old decaying buildings here provided decent coverage from the sun - which was what Omata was looking for.
She would be drifting along, floating from rooftop to rooftop, using her Ki Sense to keep an eye out for any nearby beasts; animals with a notable powerlevel (at least compared to the prey-animals around here) usually implied predators, or otherwise a larger and tougher animal. And even if the animal was hiding in the buildings and foliage below, she'd be able to sense and pinpoint its location if she focused hard enough - from which she could snipe it from afar, quick and clean, and bag it. Though, as Omata made her way thru the ruins, she would take notice of something...
It was another powerlevel, yes, but it was something particularly higher than what she was used to for the beasts around here. Did a dinosaur wander out here? No, it seemed a bit high for that - Omata would pause atop a nearby building, thinking for a few moments to herself. Her second guess was perhaps someone having wandered out here, for one reason or another - it wasn't unusual for people to come here to study the ruins, or to otherwise get some peace and quiet - hell, she sometimes came out here when she wanted to do some morning warmups somewhere quieter and calmer, compared to the hustle and bustle of the capital city. Though, she was a little curious - and she supposed it wouldn't hurt to poke her head in, and make sure everything was alright. You never know, and she was sure everything'd be okay, as long as she took it slow and careful.
And so, with that, Omata would begin to slowly drift down to ground-level; her feet nary making a sound as they stepped down on the broken-up cobble path; the stones cracked and pushed apart to make way for the growing greenery that rose up between the gaps. She would make her way towards the building that she could sense the powerlevel in question within - steps as slow and careful as she was when she drifted down before, a single hand readied for her Huntershot if things got nasty right quick. She knew better than to let her guard down, or to get cocky... Though, as she peeked into the building in question - it almost looked to be a temple, with the pillars and carvings and whatnot - she did not find a beast nor a Saiyan...
... But something - or to be more exact, someone - else completely. A young man, and quite a tall one at that - leaned against one of the pillars with what seemed to be a book. She certainly thought him a Saiyan at first, having not gotten a good enough look at his face to see his eyes (and thus only having his hair and build to go off of) - but the ears and tail she saw on him were quite strange, and implied otherwise to her. Was he a Canidite - or more appropriately, part-Canidite? She'd seen them in the city before; trading with others at the market, looking for work, or simply exploring - and they oftentimes came in groups. But it was rare to see a lone Canidite, halfbreed or otherwise, let alone one that was out in the middle of almost-nowhere... Admittedly, she found him kind of cute - though possibly a bit young for her tastes, otherwise. So, she would ponder to herself whether to approach him, or to leave him to his devices; since it didn't seem like he was in any trouble or whatnot.
After a few moments of such pondering, she'd decide - what the hell, might as well make a friend, and hear this guy's story. In the event that Lykaia hadn't noticed her by now, she would knock audibly on the stone doorframe to announce her presence - as to avoid startling him - and would appoach, standing next to the pillar adjacent to his own pillar so as to make sure he had some personal space. "Hey there, I don't usually see Canidites out here, let alone one all on his lonesome." She'd greet with a friendly smile, waving gently to Lykaia, before asking "Mind if I hang here with you?"
He'd continue to flip throw pages, eyebrows furrowing as he struggled to try and pronounce the next word. "...Indiffer... Indiffince...?" He frowned a bit, thought it eventually turned into a small chuckle as he made fun of his own attempt to continue to speak common. Common had a lotta words Lykaia didn't know compared to his old Deluvian speak. And honestly, it wasn't bad but just, Lykaia really didn't have any idea what your doing. But, like he'd mother say, he just gotta keep trying till he gets there.
Lykaia's ears would twitch as he took his concentration off the book, lifting his head as he swore heard something. It was hard to tell from this far away but maybe his just was a small animal or something? He couldn't really tell, a few more moments pasts and he could definitely feel something? Hear something? And he was right as he heard a voice, causing him to turn around to see a young woman, fairly tall with short red hair and an eye patch. A very catching appearance, he'd admit, and cute but, she seemed older then him, not to mention he didn't exactly find interested in women like that.
She was friendly, or at least that's what the smile and the wave told him, and he was buying all of it as he greeted her with a smile back.Though, he couldn't help but tilt his head as she'd refer to him as this "Canidate", something he hadn't heard of before, but the way she spoke she probably meant race, and that, was something he wasn't. "It... Nice to meet you, am not Canidate you speak off, but Lykaia, Lykaia the Deluvian. Deulviankind not common... Here? So, your error complete... Justified..." He paused every know and then, trying to think of the words right. But his tone was gentle, and he still gave her a smile.
He was all to pleased when she mentioned wanting to maybe hang around, a friendly face was something he'd be itching for a while, even if it was in the middle of nowhere out here. "Would love company, yes, have here been for... Short time... Still get use to thing.." He laughed, rubbing the back of his head as his tailed curled up behind him.
"...Deeply apologised for poor.. Speak... Learning this common as we speak..." He admitted sheepish, holding up the book to her which made it quite clear, he had no idea what he was doing.
Omata would blink curiously, as Lykaia responded to her in a... Somewhat broken Common, it seemed. Not to mention that he apparently wasn't a Canidite, but a Deluvian? She'd never heard of a Deluvian before - though she guessed they didn't learn Common in those parts if she had anything to go off of. It was unusual, but not unheard of - languages were weird, and sometimes other races developed their own languages, or kept the traditional languages they had before Common came along; but she wouldn't judge Lykaia. It seemed he was making an honest effort, at least, with the book and all. The young man seemed rather chill and friendly himself, too - and Omata couldn't help but find him a little endearing.
With Lykaia's consent given though, Omata would sit down with him, exhaling in a relaxed fashion as she leaned back against the pillar. It was nice to get out of the heat of the sun - and to meet a new friend, too, she noted as she smiled over to him. She'd make a casual, carefree wave of her hand as he apologized for his broken Common, responding "You're fiiiine~, you'll get there with some time, I'm sure. I can understand what you're saying at least, so all's good." She'd grin and chuckle softly, playfully and lightly elbowing Lykaia in his side as she did; having a camaraderie-like demeanor about her, with how she interacted with him. As far as the language issue went, she saw no problem - as long as they could communicate just fine, all was well, yeah?
After a moment though, a thought would occur to her. "Hell, I could help out a bit if you're stuck on anything." She'd offer - humming a bit to herself in thought, before she continued "I dunno if I'm any much of a teacher; I'm more a hunter than anything, heh, but I can certainly try!" Maybe she could explain the definition of words to him? Or identify objects? She wasn't sure, but she was ready to help this young man fit in amongst other folk, especially if he was going to be traveling out to parts that only spoke Common. Though, even with all of this, she was a bit curious about something else, too... "By the way, what's a Deluvian, if it's alright to ask? Never heard of one before, let alone seen one, I'd think." She'd ask with a curious tilt of her head, adding "Do all Deluvians have ears n' a tail like you?"
