-Heavy Weights on!- -Base PL: 63,377- -PL with heavy weights: 15,844-
There it was, the camp belonging to the Saiyan P.I. and the Heiress. They had moved it closer to Kourin Tower since the last time it had been set up. The Brenchian was away, but the Saiyan stood at the camp, looking at the tower which was an easy walk away from where the camp was, there was an overcast as the time was about mid-day, a calm rain pouring down, there was nothing but wilderness around, birds chirping, the occasional animal running through, it was still, something Ermine didn't exactly mind. He was resting for now.
He had made his bid with the Z-fighters, so he decided for now, he would just take in the sights until he got further word, it was all he could really do. He shrugged, sitting down on a log resting on the ground, it made for a basic, but not unwelcomed bench of sorts. He took out some berries he had gathered from the surrounding forests, calmly eating a few to sate himself, and to pass the time as well. It was still so strange to him. Sitting out here.
He was used to city life. Glowing buildings and many vehicles going to and from. The occasional smog, his favorite noodle shop...That was his normal life, but it seemed as though lately he had gotten away from that more, it wasn't exactly unwelcomed. Maybe iy was instincts? Saiyans were...Feral in some ways, closer to wild than humans or many other races. Or maybe he just appreciated it, he wanted to draw an exact conclusion, but he really couldn't. Maybe eventually he would figure one reason or another out. But for now, all he understood was that he didn't mind being away from the city he had grown so accustomed to.
Though a lot came to his mind as he thought of East city, he remembered all the cases he had covered in the past, all of the people he had met, whether he liked them - or hated them. He realized just how far he had come, and yet...Part of him missed some of the more likable people he had met in his journey. There was that Gouken fellow, who helped him realize that he needed to grow stronger...
And that girl, Yamiko.
He wondered how they were both doing, did Gouken remain the same friendly, though perhaps somewhat gullible person that he seemed to be all those days ago? Did Yamiko take his advice he had given her to heart, trying to follow a path of light, and not of dark? He couldn't really know, and one was more certain than the other. But he had faith that they certainly might have changed for the better. Even if he didn't often put trust in others, he couldn't help but want to see them get a happy ending of sorts. Though...Very soon it seemed his curiosities about one of them would be cleared up. He witnessed someone approaching the camp, it was in a clearing, slightly elevated, there were few ways someone could come up to it unnoticed. As he looked on, standing up, the figure slowly became clearer through the haze of the falling rain...Was that who he thought it was...?
She was finally here, the source of the power she felt during her escape was directly above her. However the strength of that that source.... had dulled considerbly-as if parts of it were missing. It was a rather curious development to be sure. Perhaps the power she felt came from multiple sources, interesting.... this did warrant further investigation! At first she decided on her usual approach, and by far the most logical one in her mind, since they were just going to deny her otherwise. Animal skulls appeared around as she begun walking towards the inhabitants however as they began to charge a rather familiar seen began to play out, and with it a familiar memory crossed through the girls head.
The way you shamble about...The way you stay so quiet, it feels...Like your life is going down a dangerous path. But anyone can do the right thing if they just try. And you especially. We can be your friends, Flare and I. You don't have to suffer alone. I'm not wrong, am I? You're scared. You don't know what to do, right? You don't have to be, just put your weapons away, we can settle it with words
..... ..... ..... That.... man.. why did those words.... still afflict her? They were nothing more than... a pool of lies to slow her down... to weaken her resolve. Bit if that were the case, if she was so sure she was right... then why couldn't she make her intended warning shot? Soon after they appeared the skulls vanished with Yami's lack of violent intent. Her heads slumped to her side as she hung her head low, staring at the ground just below her. That man... Ermine. How could his words halt her hand? What was it about his words that seemed so dam familar? What was it about him... that made her stop? She now stood a few feet from the inhabitants-whom all had quite the confused expressions on their face, a natural reaction really.
Yamiko however was to caught up in her own confusing jumbled up little bubble, so much so that she began muttering to her self out loud.
"What.... am I supposed to do...? He has to die... right? Him and all the usel.... all the people but him.... my head hurts...
He looked onwards, watching her get closer, it really WAS Yamiko, that girl still looked as bothered as last time, and yet there she was, her weapons drawn, he had reason to be alarned, but much like last time, he kept his guard subtle, if this girl saw he was getting defensive, she could very well take it as a sign of hostility, not something he could afford as he found himself standing among nearly defenseless people once more. Only this time he was on his own, but for all of the potential fears on that front, he saw her weapons drop, those strange skulls that had been aimed this way were stopped, maybe...His words from that time really did make a difference.
He closed his eyes, his hands out into his pockets as he stood almost perfectly still. "Hey kiddo, it's been a while, huh?" He spoke just the same as he did last time, though...Now there was a hint of something, a hint of friendliness, he knew for sure now that, bad or not, she wasn't exactly "evil", she just had a lot to deal with. "I didn't expect to see you here, what brings you this way? You don't have to kill anyone, by the way, no one here is going to attack you."
He was still so sincere, why? It was something he clarified next. "Listen, I don't know what's going on in your life, but if we talked it over, maybe you'd feel better, huh? Can't hurt, anyway." He may have been standing, but he soon sat right back down. "Make yourself at home, I set up this camp to stay a few days, you might be hungry, we have food here if you'd want any." He relaxed a little, it seemed that regardless of how dangerous she might have been, she was too conflicted to attack him right now, he still played it carefully, but he was more comfortable now, any possible hint of forced calmness there may have been was easily removed at this point.
He was even offering her food and a place to rest her legs, there was absolutely no doubt left that he didn't see her as some kind of enemy, that he was absolutely truthful in trying to help her go down a better path for herself, it was hard for him to see her as an enemy, honestly. He had met far worse beings in his life, those who killed and hated without remorse, unlike her, these beings he had met before...They were monsters. That's why he couldn't hate her, because no matter how she seemed, it was clear she wasn't comfortable with being this way. She was redeemable, and he respected that above all else. Maybe most wouldn't have seen it that way.
But he did, and if he could convince her that killing pointlessly wasn't worth it? He was going to try, he was far stronger now than he was before, after all, it showed rather clearly to anyone with ki sense, his life wasn't nearly at as much of a risk now as it was then. So him being cautious...What was his motove there? His motive was that causing any hostility might make it impossible for her to trust him.
She felt his Ki before she saw his face again. That familiar presence, she didn't need to look to begin with. Ermine, the man with a habit for staying her hand. Part of her of course wondered why he was here, why the he'll he was in her path again! The rest felt... odd, a light feeling, almost.... like it was better with the idiot around.
"They are.... not even afraid... this is... different..."
Was this... what her father tried to tell her? What he and Ermine kept attempting to drill into her heart? This... feeling... such a thing could only make her weaker right? It was emotion that should be cast to the wind.... yet still, part of her wanted to hold onto it-like she couldn't before.
He wanted to talk with her? He wanted to talk with someone any normal person would view as a killer by now. He was irrational, his actions illogical movements that could only get him killed in the end.
And yet despite all of that the teen found her self falling to her knees as an answer. Her body refused to move from that spot once she landed. She... she wanted to listen, just this once. She wanted to talk... just one more time.
"Here... only here"
Yamiko had never once hesitated in her life. She never hesitated to do what she knew she had to do. Taking out her sister.... and what she had to do to her father and everyone that got in her way. They were things she never had to think about. Yet Ermine succeeded where others failed. Without even fighting he had her on her knees, a perfect spot to stab from would be her usual thoughts, but not this time.
This time it was all about her emotion-And her hesitation.
He smiled lightly at her, though it wasn't exactly a smile of happiness, more of acceptance towards her. "Jeez kid, I spent most of my life being forced to bow to someone else, don't do that when I'm not even a threat to you." He shook his head, he didn't want to see this girl bow to anyone, himself especially. He spoke up again soon after. "Come sit down with me, I'll tell you more about myself, then maybe you can tell me more about yourself too." He just waited for her to come over and take a seat.
"Well..." Once she had gotten situated,, or even if she didn't he'd speak up. "I...Have a lot to say about myself, I guess. I've only recently had to actually tell someone about my past, guess I'm already used to it." He handed her a piece of cooked food, even if she hadn't taken a seat next to him, he'd get up and bring it to her. "You look a bit hungry." He said before continuing. "Ever heard of the Saiyan Empire? Ruthless lot..." He'd look at the ground before looking back at her. "I was born into it. Forced to be a soldier for them. Those disgusting nobles made us commit genocide on entire planets, for practically no reason other than for glory."
"I felt so conflicted when I was a teenager and finally working amongst the other soldiers. I hated the Empire's ways, but I'd be killed if I went against my orders, so what was I supposed to do? Keep killing, or go against it and risk death? I had my own life to look out for too." He shrugged, what he was saying might have sound sort of close to her own problems, the feelings of confliction... "I don't know, it was all a big mess, and those people I had to kill keep me awake sometimes."
"It took me a while before I decided to go through with it, I felt that if I didn't have any freedom, my life wasn't worth it anyway. So when we were on an expedition to another planet, I snuck off in the dead of night, I had one space pod to take...Too bad some of them caught me, they beat me until I was nearly dead. I would have been if they didn't actually think I had died right then and there. I was lucky, and I didn't waste that luck in trying to get away. I headed right for the one place I knew was immune to their reach - Earth." he gives her another small smile.
"Maybe I'm crazy, most people are afraid of you, but...I just can't believe you're happy with the way your life is. I dealt with a life I didn't enjoy for a long time. You're younger than me, you can still change it around before it hurts you too much." He tries to very carefully pet her, moving slowly so she doesn't see it as a hostile action. "If I'm crazy for this, then honestly, I don't care what they think."
Yamiko saw no reason to deny the older man's wishes. more than that she didn't actually want to. it was... comforting speaking with this man, even listening to him in turn brought some semblance serenity to her normally unstable mindset. The Sayian Empire.... Her old man mentioned them a couple times. granted he had never met them as far as she knew. Chances were all he knew was information given to him by others. eh it didn't really matter she supposed. His story on the other hand did give her quite a bit of insight on the sayian. More insight than she had cared to absorb about anyone in a long time. They were similar in a way, their events were almost comostly different and yet.... similar at the same time. It was both intriging and confusing to the young girl. She just didn't get it. She couldn't move from this spot, the fickle thing called emotion wouldn't allow it. on top of that was this man trying to identify with her? W..why? why the HELL was he doing all this? Why didn't he do the normal freaking thing and END HER LIFE That's what the soldiers wanted... right? What her sister would want... what dad surely wanted... so... why? To this world she was a bad egg. A princess fallen from grace. a murder and... a monster.
So why?
"Y..your wrong, I do what I have to! The weak don't need life, I have to kill what's in my way and... I have to kill him..."
The weakened conviction in her words could apparent to anyone paying attention. She wasn't even sure she was convincing herself anymore! What was this guy doing to her why was he... being so nice to her?
His hand touched her head. Shock rushed through her system at the touch. What... in the hell. No one gave her a pat! No one but... NO NO AT ALL! Not... ever...
Yet She didn't stop him, in the end. no some how this made her feel better.
"You... are crazy, a complete and total idiot"
For a moment she remained in silent thought. she meant every word and yet what did she do? She didn't stop him nor attempt to eliminate him. No she simply sat there. Maybe just this once, maybe she could talk to one person, Just this once she wouldn't take a life.
"Eiji Asuka... The king, that's my father... I killed my sister and he locked me away... simple right? Theirs no need... to put all those stupid emotions behind it..."
Yamiko stared down at the meat she was give. Nibling at it in an attempt to hide the feelings mixing around inside her.
The question kept moving about in her head. Why didn't he just kill her? She nearly killed several people in his presence twice! It wasn't like his idiotic ramblings were going to change any of that! So WHY WHY WHY?!
He heard her words, and silently shook his head. "If you had to kill what was in your way, then why haven't you attacked me yet? I've gotten in your path twice now. Twice I've left myself open. If you really wanted me dead...Well, we wouldn't be having this conversation, now would we?" he laughed lightly to himself. He really was taking a huge risk, but it was worth it to him. He could tell what she was feeling just through the hesitation in her words. His voice stayed calm, not mocking or anything negative even once. He merely tried to convince her.
Though her next words made him laugh quite hardily. Mostly to himself again as he spoke up. "I guess I am, huh? Too bad crazy and stupid pays well. But then I guess I wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting you." He sat there in silence for a moment, just thinking and listening to her, this girl was desperate. She needed guidance, he was going to put in the effort to make it happen if he had to, as much effort as was needed to convince her. He continued to listen to her as she said one more thing.
It surprised him what she said, though he still remained calm. "Your father's the king of earth? I guess that's something I didn't expect. You killed your sister and he put you away." He rubbed his chin, thinking it over. Finally, he gave a sigh, there was only really one thing he could think to say in response. "I can't speak for either of them, I'm not going to pretend like your father was doing what was best, but.." He looked at her rather sincerely before continuing. "I've seen ruthless murderers, people who killed remorselessly, I know what they look like and how they act. You're nothing like them. They would never be this bothered by things." He rubbed a long healed scar on his hand. "They never were big on hearing someone out, either."
"So, if you want to know why I'm doing this...I guess it's because you'll listen to me. Maybe I want to see things work out alright for you, even if I have to put my neck out on the line. To be honest though...I thought I'd never see you again after that night there in East city. If you had gone and picked a fight with someone who turned out to be stronger...Well, I guess maybe I'm being a little pessimistic." He shrugged his shoulders a little, everything he said was true, even if it might have been a little harsh, he knew what kind of people lurked the alleyways, people much less remorseful than Yamiko was.
He looked at the ground for a moment. "By the way, don't think I ever had the chance of telling you my name. It's Ermine. I'm a Private Detective." He stopped for a moment. "And what about you? I can ask your name, right?" He smiled a bit at her, trying to make her feel relaxed to open up in this way.
A sayian of all things doing this to her. This man named Ermine was was a foolish, idiotic man. yes her father locked her away. It was one of the reasons she hated him. Both for locking her away in a cell AND not having the willpower to destroy an enemy. Him and this detective, they were weak pathetic wastes of space! Spouting useless unneeded words of... calming, serene nature... Wait no NO. This man! What was it about this man that effected her so? He was like a freaking mirror image of her old man, right down to freaking 'I care about your well being additude! This was so dam confusing! He made a valid point to, why couldn't she strike him down? Like her father he wasted his strength like this trying to amongst other things get her to change her ways. The guy was NOT normal, he even took her murdering her sister in stride! Just how in the world... did his sympathy know no dam bounds?! In fact, his only question was her name? What kind of man was this guy? Didn't he know this was no good? It's not like... like he was going to change her life or anything like this right?
This made absolutely no sense. Her heart felt heavy. Her head felt clear. She was confused yet strongly felt somewhat serene. Was this what he wanted? to slip her into a false sense of safety before plunging the knife in? No... he was far to soft for that. His reasoning was as illogical as his actions! Did he really expect her to believe that he just.... cared? That he wanted NOTHING in return?! That was complete and utterly stupid! Yet... what could be gained from an outcast? Their was nothing she had worth taking, aside from her life.
He didn't even want that.
"Yamiko Null Asuka, that is my name. I am the exiled and last living princess of earth... I'm a killer you refuse to give what she deserves"
She remained silent for a moment after her introduction. Mulling the thoughts over in her head. This man and her father were two sides of the same coin it was so confusing, so infuriating! Yet at the same so calming.
"My name is Yamiko Null Asuka and I... can no longer pull the trigger"
She sighed to herself. So that was it huh? He was gonna make her an idiot to. Bunch of stupid uneeded emotions that were just gonna give those that felt then restraints to hold them down and kill them. People you'll end up not wanting to lose... Stupid... useless things...
The man chose to just watch her in silence for a moment, waiting for any kind of response he could get, he scarcely understood what could possibly be going on in that girl's mind, didn't exactly worry him, but it still made him wonder...Did he really make as much of an impact as he thought? He didn't honestly know the answer to that question, even as important as it was. She was just...A pretty big enigma, if he had to be honest, she acted outwardly like she wanted to kill, but from the way she hesitated, on the inside she obviously wasn't like that.
The P.I. waited as long as he needed to hear her speak, he had nowhere to go anyway, it'd take all the time in the world to make him up and leave right now, even he found it at least somewhat crazy how much he was dedicating to try and turn her life around, he really didn't have anything to gain, all except a good night's rest for once knowing he did the right thing, but he'd had plenty of sleepless nights, one more probably wouldn't have killed him. He didn't really know entirely what to make of it all.
"Yamiko huh? ...I know how it is to feel exiled." He shook his head at the next thing she said, he didn't give her what she deserved? "Sometimes justice isn't about 'giving someone what they deserve'. I've met a lot of people who deserved death, didn't mean I gave that to them. Sometimes mercy is the greatest justice. The accused live with the results of their actions, and maybe with time - Change from what made them commit their actions in the first place. The ultimate justice." He couldn't honestly bring himself to care that she was a "murderer", he had killed more than his fair share of innocents.
And even decided to say so. "...Besides, if I'm going to dig a grave for a killer, I had better dig two." He looked at his own hands for a moment, giving the distinct implication he just said he'd be a hypocrite for enacting "justice". Still, it seems she accused herself again, he just replied rather simply. "Glad you can't. I don't think anyone here is going to judge you for not pulling the trigger. Just remember not to hold back if someone plans on attacking you first."
He just grinned a bit. "I don't know everything you've been through, I've only heard a little of it, but...For what it's worth? I don't believe you're irredeemable. If you really want justice to come about, then just leave behind the you who would've tried to kill me, or others. Leave behind the you who wanted to kill your family. I think the world is going to need your leadership sooner or later, I'd rather they celebrated you." He spoke sincerely, as if he really believed in her, he felt like he had made progress in helping her, even if it turned out to only be a little, the fact that he got through meant she could be helped.
