Sothyrn
Name: Sothyrn
Age: 833,213
Gender: Male
Race: Shinjin (Kaioshin)
Homeworld: Sacred World of the Kais
Starting Planet: Hell
Appearance:
Sothyrn has the appearance of a fairly typical Kaoishin, despite his fall and corruption. Sothyrn’s skin is a an otherworldly greyish blue, and it quite obviously denotes his other world origin. His eyes are sharp black pools of black, not unlike that of a Saiyan’s eyes. Very rarely do his eyes betray any emotion, and his gaze is often unflinching. His ears end in the fine tapered points that are common to his kind. In truth, the most vibrant part of his hair. His head is a rather outstanding pink, a color that has, on occasion, appeared in his kind. His head is mostly shaven cut to his head, except for the long, mohawk like strip that runs down the middle of his head.
In terms of dress, Sothyrn might be described as plain. He tends to dress simply, in dark and cool colors, though occasionally still dons the outrageous outfits of his good aligned brethren When he does wear clothing in that style, even the colors of that tend to be reserved. Sothyrn, like many of the other kaioshin, prefers not to be in the spotlight, and this is reflected in his dress. His body has surprisingly little in the way of marks of war. He has no visible scars or marks on his skin. In truth, aside from his hair, his most distinguishing feature is the par of Potara Earrings he wears, as all kaioshin do.
Backstory:
Sothyrn is a Kaioshin, born from one of the prestigious golden fruit of the Kaiju Tree. Or, he was. You see, Sothyrn has died. At least in the eyes of the Kaiju Tree. He is a corrupted Kaioshin, banished to Hell, and thus dead to the Kaiju Tree.
But how did he come to be corrupted? Sothyrn began his life as a Kaioshin born to replace the former Supreme Kai of the South. And by all accounts, he was a good one. He had a certain love for his little section of the universe and he wore the guardian title with pride. Millenia past, and Sothyrn was proving to be quite the guardian. It seemed that under him, the south quadrant was in good hands.
But something changed. Sothyrn became… corrupted. Through trickery lost to time and his own memory, a demon caused Sothyrn to fall. And he fell hard. The other Kaioshin banished him to Hell, the realm of those who do evil. The exact circumstances of his banishment remain a mystery to him, vague memories of a distant time. But what is clearer to him is exactly what happened to him when he fell to Hell.
When Sothyrn fell to Hell he had been so tired. So tired that he simply found a cave, sealed himself in, and went to sleep. And there he slept for millennia. His sleep was dreamless and did little to alleviate his corruption. It was only in recent years that his sleep grew shallow and restless, and only in the recent days that he began to wake.
Now, Sothyrn is a man with a mission. Anger pervades his blood and mind, corruption flows through him, and he wishes to see the rest of his kind and the universe brought low. But he knows how little influence a Kaioshin may have in the world of the living, so he knows he must make allies. He plans to reach out to the people of the universe, the villainous, the downtrodden, and meld them, make them stronger.

Sothyrn’s eyes fluttered open and a groan escaped his lips. Damn, he thought, damn, damn, damn. He was still tired, so very tired. And his head hurt like Hell. Speaking of which… Sothyrn pulled himself upward and blinked. His eyes were slowly adjusted to the darkness of his holdings. His hands fumbled in the darkness, pressing against the damp stone of the ground. Slowly, he pushed himself off the ground and he brushed the dirt and dust from his clothes. So much dust, he thought. How long had be sleeping? Too long, it seemed.
Sothyrn could hardly remember anything at all. He remembered… Bright lights, the faces of his brethren, and then falling. Yes, he told himself, falling. He had fallen for so long. The sky had shifted from light and beautiful, to dark and ugly. He had fallen for so long. But eventually he had landed. And that was the last thing he remembered. That, and falling asleep. Yes, he remembered falling asleep.
He’d sealed himself in this cave, he remembered, a large stone keeping the outside world just that: out. Slowly, he stumbled towards where he thought the entrance of the cave was. His legs still worked, barely. And they hurt. It was as if his knees had turned to stone during his sleep. A soft groan escaped his lips. He needed to keep moving. He needed to see the outside world again. And, he needed to find something to drink. His mouth was as dry as a bone, as devoid of liquid as the hottest desert.
He leaned against the wall of the cave and pushed. Slowly, it began to budge. Light began to form around the seams, creeping into his cave. And finally, the stone rolled away long enough for him to finally step out. And what his eyes found set his heart alight: it was Hell. The land where he truly belonged. Fresh air filled his lungs and the light of day burned his eyes as they slowly adjusted to the world around him. It was good to be alive.
“My lord!” Came a cry from beside him. Sothyrn’s head slowly swiveled to the side and he point at himself, as if to say ‘me’? His eyes landed on a demon, a young looking and bulky man, red of skin and with two large horns extending from his head, like an ox. A halo hovered over his head. He was dead, realized Sothyrn.
“My lord,” cried the demon again, “I’ve been waiting for you! My entire life in fact!”
“Uh,” groaned Sothyrn, “Who are you?”
“Oh, my apologies, my lord. I am Belze, son of Amona, son of Canio, son of Eligo, son of… Well, you get the point, I’m sure,” said the demon, laughing to himself.
“Well,” mumbled Sothyrn, “A pleasure to meet you, Belze, son of sons.”
“No, no!” Exclaimed the demon, “The pleasure is all mine! My family and I have been waiting for this day for millennia, waiting for you to rise again!”
“But why?” Asked Sothyrn, confused.
“Because my father and his father, and his father, and his father-”
“Get to the point!” Interjected the fallen Kaioshin.
“Of course, sir! My family believes that you will usher in a new era of glory for the Hellbound! My entire family has been waiting for this. All of us have lived our lives, gaining strength so that we might serve you better. And for time immemorial, we’ve been gathering in Hell,” explained the demon.
“So, there are more of you?” Asked Sothyrn.
“Yes, many! We live our lives out in the Demon Realm, growing stronger, and when we die we arrive here in Hell and join your growing, loyal ranks, sir!”
“I see,” mumbled Sothyrn. He had a following? Where was is when he’d been banished from the light of the Kaiju Tree. Perhaps maybe he could have held on to his little quadrant of the universe a bit longer… Perhaps. All he remembered was falling. He could have been doomed from the start and no amount of soldiers could have made a difference.
“Well,” continued Sothyrn, “Sorry to keep you waiting for all this time, but I don’t exactly see what you want of me.”
“I told you, my lord! We wish to help you make a new world. A world ruled by those dark of heart. Both worlds, in fact! This world and the one of the living,” enthused the dead demon.
Sothyrn smirked and shook his head. Grand plans, he thought. These people assumed much of him. In fact, it was down right insulting. He was born of the Kaiju Tree, a golden fruit. Or he had been, once. Though he was dead to that grand tree now, the wayward son of the golden fruit. He knew that much. The point being, no one ordered him around.
“I see. That’s nice and all, but you seem to have forgotten one thing: I am my own man. I make choices for myself. For all you know, I have no interest in bringing about this new world. Perhaps I would rather lounge by the blood pool,” chuckled Southyrn, “What do you say to that, mister Bezel?”
“I…” began the demon. Sothyrn watched with great interest as the departed demon searched for the words desperately, as if everything he had ever wanted was slipping away from him. The corrupt kaioshin took some small pleasure in the squirming of the man, but soon it grew on his nerves. He needed little groveling. Especially in his state. Sothyrn was feeling rather… grumpy. He’d never been an easy sleeper.
“Nevermind that,” said the Kaioshin suddenly, “I would like to meet this following before I decide anything rash.”
A look of joy sprang on the demon’s face, as if he’d suddenly been touched by a miracle. “Thank you, my lord! I promise you that you won’t be disappointed! Some of these people have been waiting for what seems like forever to meet you!”
“Well, lead the way, then. We’ll see if they’re worthy,” sighed Sothyrn. He followed the demon, only half aware of where he was going. Instead, he was getting lost in his thoughts. What an interesting awakening, he thought to himself. It was certainly better than his dreamless sleep. But he had to admit that he was already warming up to the idea of this all. It had been ages upon ages since he’d last seen the outside world. Forlornly, he cast his eyes upward. And he frowned. The Sacred World of the Kais… Home, he thought, once upon a time, but not more. This was his home now, as strange as it might. He’d fallen far. A more humble man might accept their fall, but Sothyrn? He wanted to drag the rest of the world down with him. He’d need to expand his influence, make connections in the world of the living, but he thought, in time, he might be able to make something of what he was doing.
With his awakening came a new lease on life. And he was going to make the most of it.
