-Heavy Weights on!-

-Modded PL: 150-
There stood the Half-blood. staring over a canyon outside of the city, the new empire had set up a simple task, yet one she could certainly handle...Usurpers to the throne. They were to be expected honestly, the girl was smart enough to know what happens when strong opponents...or even just gullible ones find that their leadership has been changed to their disliking, it had happened before after all, though no one expected usurpers to appear this soon, they were planning on moving into the city within a few days, storming the palace in the confusion of the moment, but unfortunately for them, loyal spies had already walked among them, they had reported back rather soon, it only took one night, not they nor their superiors expected for this to go down, but it seemed as though it was just destined to happen.
... Too bad neither Zeta nor the New Empire believe in destiny.
Her tail moved about playfully...This weighted armor was such a drag, literally and figuratively, but she had to wear it, they would improve her body rather quickly after all, though few could ignore the risk it brought on, her power level, it was very low, she was definitely putting herself at risk, not like she cared much, however, these usurpers were nothing more than rats in hiding, she would overpower them in mind and ability over strength. She lept down, sliding along the canyon wall downwards, her tail flapped and flew freely in the wind as she slid faster and faster, though it seemed like she would wipe out at the end as the weights pulled her down, she pushed herself off of the canyon wall with the forward momentum, barely sticking the landing as she dropped onto her knees. This armor was gonna take some getting used to...But that's exactly the kind of challenge she relished.
She snuck up and hid beyond a pile of rocks, peaking over them to see a decrepet concrete building standing ahead. It wouldn't be easy to tell normally if there was anything to this building or not, there were a lot of abandoned places lining the edges and insides of the various canyons and craters, but there was no doubt here, there were men standing about, wearing painted saiyan armor, perhaps all as a sign of their defiance...Wasn't very bright in the Half-blood's opinion, flying your hatred out in the open...But then, they didn't look to be very organized, no doubt they're nothing more than former loyalists who banded together in a moments notice, probably full of guards and soldiers who ran away instead of facing their death...She was going to give them what they tried to escape regardless. She waited...Watched...That tail moving about slyly behind her. She had to wait for the right opening to act, there were two guards, likely one was going to move just right to let her sneak up...And that's when she would act.
Though it took several minutes, that opening finally did happen, she lept out over the rocks, rushing up and tackling the only guard still at his post, quickly breaking his neck before he could retaliate or yell out. Normally he would have been able to fight back, but she had the element of surprise on her side, he was already dead before he had time to figure it all out, she quickly....Uh, "quickly" carried his body over to some rocks, it was the heaviest lifting she had ever had to do, the armor only added to the weight more. But that other guard was incompetent enough for the body to be hidden away from his eye...And then she fired off a blast of her Soprano as she peaked up from where she had just hidden the other, bursting his ear-drums as he tried to look over in her direction, only to be knock down by a flying kick, one that probably wouldn't do much if not aided by her weighted armor...She repeated the method of breaking his neck as well, with that, the outside was clear, but the inside...She wasn't sure just what was waiting for her in there, or even what kind of power they might have.
She carefully pushed the door open, stopping it before it could open too far, slipping inside, and shutting it quietly...She had somehow succeeded in disposing of the two outside, her element of surprise was in tact...All she had to do was keep it up now and everything would go smoothly. Truthfully, the Half-blood hated being sneaky, if it were up to her, she would just rush in, song blazing as she vaporizes each of them, but this wasn't in her favor, she had to play it this way or she knew she would just lose, and then...Well, this whole thing would be pointless, making her look bad, living or dead, that wasn't something she could accept, like it or not, she went forward quietly, going deeper into this run down old building, it was too late to back out, not like she would ever make that choice.
She sneaks up behind a guard, his back turned to the door as he stares out of the window, a cigarette in hand, he raised it to his mouth to smoke...And found a tail wrapping around his neck, squeezing until it snapped. Zeta made sure to pull him into the shadows before someone else came around. She'd have to be quick about this whole mission, if enough guards go missing, she knew they'd take notice, and then everyone would be on alert, this half-blood wasn't prepared for anything short of perfection, she hurried sneakily deeper into the building, coming to a catwalk where two guards were going across, actually on their patrol. Seems it would be hard to get the jump on them. And yet...there above them hanged a steel girder that had to weigh thousands of pounds, it looked like it was hanging by a thread...Zeta changed that. Sending a quick ki shot to the upper part of the girder, it broke free, dropping onto the guards before they could walk out of harm's way. It not only crushed them instantly, but collapsed the catwalk they traversed, it was quite loud, unfortunately, but it could have passed off as an accident, Zeta played into this by slipping past the walkway with a short flight, getting crouched into the shadows before suspicion could be cast, after all, just as could be expected, it took only a short time for more usurpers to rush into the room, all of them calling out for their two friends, seems they were on alert...
But Zeta held out, she kept quiet, waiting, buying time and hoping they would just move on... She watched as the usurpers standing over the scene spoke up. "The hell...Those poor fools...I told the boss this place was too unstable to stay in! Keep your guard up around this place, everyone...Who knows what will fall next. They all dispersed one by one. Some flew over the wreckage and headed out towards the way Zeta had come from, others, went back their own ways... ...All but one poor sucker, who stayed to look over the remnants of his two allies, all alone. And that's when those bright red eyes of the half-blood's lit up under the moonlight, she snuck over, making short work of the guard's neck, pushing her down into the lower floor, much like she had done several times before. It was all going...Smoothly enough, but there was a fine line, and as the moon waned on, she knew she would be running out of time soon, if she didn't hurry. This girl knew what had to be done, their boss was somewhere in here...If she couldn't get rid of the whole lot, she'd remove the one thing giving them any sense of order, without that, they'd crumble the minute they tried attacking the Palace, if they even managed to get that far...
She would have rather gotten rid of all of these cowards, but it didn't seem to be playing out that way, much as she hated it, they'd have to be spared...There was one target that had to be removed before dawn. She hurried off through the next door, staying to the shadows, her normal attire would have lit her up like a candle, instead in this moment she was wearing a muted skintight suit, it blended perfectly with the shadows, letting her slip through doors, around corners and over walls, all while staying under the radar... As she went forward further, she came out of a doorway into a large open courtyard, this was going to be difficult...The light of the full moon, it cast over the courtyard, leaving little place for cover, there were many guards scattered about, some minding their own buisness, others tending to work, many more actively patrolling. Her target was clear, the second building which connected at the other end of the courtyard. There was an open window at the second floor that vaguely looked to be unguarded...She had to aim for it, somehow, some way, she had to sneak across and climb up to it.
She took her chance, rushing out, diving behind a fallen wall...The weighted armor was starting to take it's toll as she had been going for what had to be several hours now, there was no doubt that she was going to be in trouble, her timed mission only became shorter at this rate, if she was to get their boss dead, she'd have to go as fast as she could, making use of the weight's momentum. And so she did, she took her chance, climbing over the fallen wall and hurrying forward, she had barely managed to slip past several guards, her footsteps loud with the gravity the armor presented, it was nothing more than luck that she didn't get caught as she vaulted into a barrel, it's insides empty thankfully. She gave a quieted sigh of relief, she herself didn't know how that worked so well, but it did, this was the hardest job of her life so far...But she had to accomplish this, it would put her in well with the new Empire, she could onlu benefit more, what with the chance of her being a noble in this system, the better she was viewed, the further into success she would find herself, this is why she kept going, it's what drove her in this moment.
To be able to stand above those who shunned her. What a grand day it would be, and it seemed as though it was coming soon enough. But for now, she had to focus, she could taunt and laugh once this was all over, once their leader was gone and these rebels had fallen to shambles, that's when she could return as a hero in her own right. She peaked out of the barrel, waiting for an opening...As a cloud passed overhead, it blocked out the moon's beams, she'd have to go quickly, but she had a huge opening. It's now or never as she vaults out of the barrel, making a mad dash straight ahead, she thought of very little as her reckless plan played out, as she zig zagged between felled walls, vaulted over rubble and debris, slipped past guards under the shadows provided by the cloudcover, as her heart raced the entire time, the distance to the second building came closer and closer, her goal coming into sight, the possibly hardest part of her night had finally come to an end as she raced up to the place, getting up against the wall and ducking down as the cloud passed by, the moon's light returning, the building saved her by casting the slightest shadow onto the ground...Her safety, however little, seemed to be gained for now. All that seemingly remain now was to entire through that second floor window, hunt down their leader, and finish it...She didn't know what he or she looked like, but they had to be here, there was nowhere else left. She was going to find her prey and finish what she started, failure was not an option to the Half-blood.
She silently climbed the wall, occasionally looking over her back, she may have finally crossed the gap between the two buildings, but she wasn't clear yet, someone could have still easily spotted her if they happened to look up at her position on the wall, but it was a risk that couldn't be avoided, she had to get up there no matter the cost, but there were still risks, she still had something to lose from being spotted - Their leader. If she were seen, their leader would most certainly flee to safety, or actively seek her out at worse, while she knew this had to be done, that was a very real possibility in her mind, the Half-blood wasn't willing to accept it as she began forcing herself to climb faster, soon pulling herself up, over, and into the window, sitting down in front of it as she gave a deep inhale, and then a deeper exhale. She wasn't out of the mission yet, she knew her sighs could never be deep enough until then, but she had gotten past possibly the riskiest part of the entire thing, her mission was rough around the edges so far, but it was holding together. This Half-saiyan had her pride, but she was smart enough to know what she couldn't handle, an entire militia was one of those things she had no chance of handling, her plan b was unfortunately to do just that...She didn't particularly care for it as a plan as one would expect. So she chose to just hope. Hope that plan A would hold together, hope that for all her efforts, her target would be right in sight, that when she finally reached the end...It would be nothing more than a quick kill and a smooth escape to victory.
Too bad things were never that easy.
The half-blood carefully exited the room, peaking around corners, moving low to the floor, watching all around her for possible hostiles, all to make sure she wasn't caught...There was quite a bit to this floor, several office rooms as well as an open area that opened up to the lower floor, and to all five above it. What exactly was this place built for anyway? Saiyans weren't desk jockeys, they'd never fit it, though...The mental image projected by this forced her to stifle laughs as she snuck about this floor, peaking up at the upper floors to try and spot anyone, scanning above, and then scanning the lower floor as well, noting that the lack of lighting made it significantly harder to do, she wasn't equipped with night vision! Regardless, she finished her scan and headed back into the outer parts of the second floor, searching for the stairs, being mindful of guards who were patrolling the floor quite thoroughly. She narrowly evaded them by zig zagging through the rooms, they were thorough, but not enough to catch her like this! She reached the stairs, continuing up to the third floor. She almost groaned knowing she had at least 4 more to go through. It was just too much! "Never taking a job like this again! Sheesh."
She was definitely becoming protestant, but she wasn't about to just give up! She was going to finish what she started, she was going to see it through regardless of how she felt, it was time not only to prove her worth to this new Empire, but to become something respected, she hoped that this tale would go down in history...The day a half-blood destroyed a saiyan militia by herself! It rang out in her mind...A great story for sure! That was all the motivation she needed to continue forward, the goal of carving her legend, of becoming one of the most revered nobles in this new empire! But it all started here...And so she continued sweeping the third floor, checking for any sign of their leader, she could only sense average power levels. Their leader would certainly be at a higher level, he or she had to be to organize this many angry people into one militia. But she just wasn't picking them up on this floor..Or the next one, for that matter...Could they be supressing their ki? She could only hope that wasn't the case, it would make her job far harder...And yet, she felt it couldn't have been the case.
Because they didn't have any reason to supress. They were among their soldiers, unknowing of the one who was coming for their neck, to spill their blood and take a trophy back as proof of their defeat. She continued through the third floor, being mindful of the guards, finally exhausting this floor before sneaking her way to the next. This floor too was proving empty, but the design was starting to change, it was becoming harder to zig zag and avoid patrols, this floor was more open, and while there were still long ruined cubicles to sneak in and out of to continue the avoidance of all of the many guards, it was still none-the-less dangerous, proving more than a challenge, she questioned how long the design of the floors would stay in one that gave her an advantage, she questioned once more why a place like this even existed, no one on vegeta was the type to run a business that would call for cubicles, and as far as she knew, there were none who would come here from another planet to work, either, right? It didn't make sense to her, maybe it wasn't important at all...Or maybe it was far more important than anyone could guess.
She had started to clear several floors now, each proving to have not but cubicles long abandoned and left to rot, guards, and various critters who called this their home and scurried about, occasionally being kicked and pushed about by the more sadistic of the guards. She saw the floors slowly change as she reached the top, soon coming to the last floor...The executive offices as they appeared to be. She got up to each door that was shut, listening through them, trying to hear anyone talk, most proved unsuccessful, and as she continued to do so, she feared she was wrong about their leader being here, perhaps that leader was somewhere else entirely? Perhaps it was a lost cause to come here, and that with a little more intelligence, they could have found the leader in a far less secure place...But as much as she tried to run that possibility in her head, it never made any sense, not even repeating it carefully made it click. Why wouldn't they be in such an advantegeous place? This was perfect to hide, nobody was going to get in loudly, and those that did would take too long to reach this section, it was far TOO good for them not to be here, and while it being a ruse was still a possibility...
There were too many people here for this guy to be safely guarded elsewhere. This was only a hastily fashioned militia, they wouldn't put up ruses like that because there's no way they could afford to, any doubts in her mind faded into nothingness with this bit of logic, she knew now without a doubt that their leader was here...And with only one door left unchecked, she soon planted her head against the door...Hearing a conversation between two people...She listened as carefully as possible, though sadly it sounded like she caught them already deep into what ever it was they spoke about. "...-it. We're almost ready to go, given that fact. However...He's waiting down there, it really was a lucky break to find those tunnels, seems this place was once a mining facility put here by some off-worlders...Can you believe that? Hoping we can really ruin them with it. They'll never see it coming...heheh."
Zeta heard them get close to the door, quickly moving into the darkness and watching on as they opened the door...Neither registered as any higher in power than the other guards, their clothes didn't look any different either...Seems she had busted here. But what they said...it was hard to make out, but it was just clear enough that she caught the last bits of their conversation...So that's why this place was here, it was all a big operation to extract something from this world, she didn't know what or why, but she didn't entirely care, it sounded as though their leader was down in these excavation tunnels, perhaps preparing for their plan...It was worse than the empire thought, they were going to drill into the Palace from below, it seemed.
She knew she'd have to mobilize fast now, she didn't even know how far ahead they were, could have been working non-stop into the night for all she knew, and it was but a few hours until dawn...It could be bad if she doesn't hurry. She knew she had two options from here, the tunnels were pretty likely to be connected to a basement of some sort, so she'd have to go to the first floor, it was six flights of stairs and a lot of sneaking down, not even mentioning the multitude of guards patrolling as the slowly gaining light was starting to arrive from the morning sun being concealed by the horizon. It was too risky, too slow, she needed another way down - The open balcony space. She lept over the balcony railing, floating down as she reached the second floor, safely and quietly landing on the first floor. This floor had a few hallways extending off, but also an elevator on the wall, she needed to reach the basement, and this elevator seemed specifically designed for that...But no power! She sighed. "Figures." She quietly stepped over, grabbing each door with her hands...She was so weak right now...Would this really work?
She put her whole body into it, pulling and tugging as she struggled to even cause it to budge an inch, this was going nowhere fast and she needed another way to pry it open...Some kind of leverage would do the trick. She scanned the lobby, looking for anything at all that would allow her to pry... She found a large steel bar that had fallen from the ceiling's window frame, she went over, lifted it up into her hands, and hurried over, jabbing between the doors until the bar got stuck in. "Got it...!" She silently exclaimed to herself as she positioned herself to the side, she began pulling and forcing the bar towards the wall, giving it more and more leverage in a sense as the elevator door was being forced open with a screetching sound, she'd have to hurry...She heard many guards calling out, they clearly heard it, and as the door was only halfway open, she couldn't slip in just yet. She heard frantic footsteps of several guards hurrying from the three hallways, all towards the lobby where she was, she didn't have much time left, but the door was almost open enough for her to slip through the gap! As the guards came rushing into the lobby, ready for a fight...
...They found a shut elevator, as if there had never been anyone there to begin with, Zeta, now sitting on the inside of it, gave a huge sigh to herself, it was all almost over...Just a little further now and she could go home. She found the maintenence hatch, she figured there had to be one...She blasted the lock off, pulling it open and gazing down into the depths below. This was definitely heading straight for the basement...Now hopefully the tunnels weren't far from even there. She grabbed hold of the ladder, and with that, she began her slow but steady descent. She could feel warmth on the ladder, a faint trace of energy. Someone had just come down here within a few hours, going much the same way she is, it seemed...She knew she was on the right track now, it couldn't be much farther. She finally came down into the basement level, there wasn't much to it as it opened up into a massive tunnel that seemed to extend for miles beneath Vegeta's surface. Digging tools and machines of all kinds were, this must have been a massive operation...But why this much effort for minerals and ores? It didn't make sense, there were other planets that offered that far more, and in far greater amounts. Ultimately the reason didn't matter so deeply...But it was still an oddity regardless.
She continued into the depths of the tunnel for what felt like an hour...Time was closing in, it wouldn't be long now before their plan went into motion, she went into a sprint! One that was very hard with the weighted armor, mind you. She was becoming frantic as she felt time run to a point of no longer being able to accomplish what she had set out to do, she kept running...Running...Going on until all she could think of was reaching the end...Soon she came a very squarish unfinished bend in the tunnel. It was odd given the lack of curves the tunnel had demonstrated previously. She stopped to catch her breath, supporting herself with a firm hand on the wall. As she rested, she could notice something odd...A strange deep red glow coming from around the corner...What was it? Why did it seem so...Otherworldly? She could also hear someone endlessly mumbling to themselves, their words an incoherent mess as she began to grow more curious over time.
AS she had finally caught her breath, she snuck over, peaking around the corner, and she witnessed...
...A whole group of saiyan militia, all impaled, seemingly by their own hands, they were all lined around a strange, statue-like formation in the center of a small room that seemed to be naturally carved into the planet's underground. There was however...One living signature in there, a higher than average one. A man who seemed to have the stature of a leader. She had found him...And his power was ebbing. he too had impaled himself for some unthinkable reason. He was the one mumbling, even at this distance she couldn't possibly make out his words, it's as if they weren't words at all...She approached quietly, she wasn't sure what to make of this, but he was already almost dead anyway...She quickly moved up to latch onto his neck...And gazed up at the strange statue...Her eyes became blank, her movements halted, she said not a word nor made any sound, she was in a trancelike state...And she began to hear incessant whispers, whispers that made no sense, whispers that seemed to be calling to her, motivating her to join the man before her...But she shook her head, being able to break free of whatever strange influence it had on her.
"Sorry freak, but I'm putting a stop to this." She called out, pulling the blade from his abdomen and forcing it through his neck, she flinched as she heard flesh separate, bone snap...And then his head fell to the floor. She visually cringed, but lifted it up, sighing. "Such a mess...But the job is finally done. I'll bring this back as proof of my job being finished. Sheesh, what a creepy place." She began leaving as quickly as she possibly could, carrying her proof with her. it was a little gruesome for her tastes, but it was a job done and out of the way, she ultimately didn't care regardless, she just wanted away from...Whatever that was. She didn't know what, she didn't WANT to know, she just wanted out of there. Thankfully, there was an auxillary tunnel she had almost missed on her way in, it said exit on the wall in the form of a faded sign, she could only assume that it did indeed leave the building...If only she knew about beforehand, this would have all been finished so much faster!
She headed down the newfound tunnel, wondering what all that was...She told herself mentally that she didn't want to, but it was impossible to ignore, all of that...Why did they impale themselves? Was this really a militia? It now looked more like a cult to the Half-blood. She was a little disappointed to top it all off, she had kinda hoped for a fight, after all, this was supposed to be her legacy! her rise to fame! She got upstaged by a lunatic with a ritual knife! The nerve of some people to off themselves, she thought! She huffed and puffed with a pouty face, far too annoyed now to keep thinking about how odd that whole scene from before was, she could only think of how she got off way too easily! Now how was she going to tell them about how she bravely faced down their leader? The Empire would laugh! She'd just have to keep it to herself, she thought...Better to save face and give them what they want than to earn recognition but lose a little pride, after all.
She exited the auxillary tunnel, she was right in her assumptions, it took her right out into the open canyon, she was met with an early morning sun, casting light over the lands, she could only give a sigh...It was all finally over, it was time to return to the Palace. After that...She only imagined where she'd possibly go.
